26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

20512 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very at 2 Jan 2012 08:40:17 PM
It seems like my SGS2 phone only has 3G connection when it is idle! Internet connection is super slow and it could be compared with "dial-up". Coming into shopping centres is like going into caves with no coverage. Out of the metropolitan area would see no coverage easily - I was once going throught Dalesford, a famous tourist attraction of Victoria and found myself having a phone with no signal. My office is in Footscray, and some times our whole office would become a prehistoric place. too with all staff have no connection for a few minutes without any reasons. Our organisation switched to Vodafone because it is cheaper, and because we could not imagine how bad Vodafone would be

20511 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Totally Incompetent at 2 Jan 2012 06:50:54 PM
3 months without 3G mobile broadband connection due to tower upgrade.
TIO involved.
Payment compromise reached.
Still billed as before.
Vodafone have deactivated customer service email address.
Had to reregister on new site.
No one answers emails.
NOC won't phone to discuss completion date.
And so back to TIO.
Here we go again!
2 Jan 2012 07:21:33 PM: Did you use your original TIO reference number?

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
13 Jan 2012 06:41:07 AM: No! VF resolution team have complaint as resolved as I was offered a discounted rate for 3 months. Did not happen and billing department even have amount showing as being paid from my cancelled credit card. I placed a condition of acceptance on the resolution i.e.; if billing for next period didn't reflect resolution then I would not pay any accounts future accounts issued but would still be using the limited VF service as my mobile is my only means of communication.
My emails to the resolution team are unanswered and I keep on receiving bills.
So; have lodged new complaint with the TIO as I have no intention of paying any accounts issued by VF.
14 Jan 2012 01:12:27 PM: For future reference if you use the same TIO incident number VF get 'fined' more heavily by the TIO as the issue has not been resolved despite VF claiming it has been resolved.

You sure are going through the VF grinder with this one!

Persevere, you will be successful!

No mess ... Hands up everyone that intends to sign-up with VF when they start to resell NBN access and landline accounts, just like Telstra or Optus. Market share will be 0.000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000001% of the Australian population?

20509 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very at 2 Jan 2012 03:33:17 PM
Not so much Vodafone here but rather the 3G network is extremely inconsistent. I nearly failed to book into a hotel over the NYE because the train line connections were only available at the main stations, so every time the train stopped, I had to be extremely quick (good luck, LOL) with the WOTIF transactions!

And also, I live on the North Shore of Sydney (love calling it the Dead Shore!) as reception is just barely minimal, it connects but it's like worse than a 56k modem!!

Also, I entered the contract, asked them about coverage and they flat out lied to me saying it is all good, same connection speed everywhere up to Newcastle and down to Canberra!! Seriously, I'm going to go to Telstra, but I do not have any credit ratings and they get all hanged up over this extremely minimal feature of your Bank Statement Records!!

20508 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Escaping contract on death... at 2 Jan 2012 01:16:18 PM
My Father passed away on the 31st of October 2011, he had just signed up with Vodafone 1 month before his untimely passing on a dual contract with 2 phones, one for him and one for my mother.

I rang 'customer support' a fortnight after his passing after dealing with his death and going through the funeral etc to try and get the contract changed to my mothers name and find out what we could do about returning one of the phones as my mother can no longer afford or need to be paying a bill for two phones and contract(which isn't in her name as it stands). After going through 5 different people over a 2 hour period and having to explain the situation to each and every one of them, you can imagine the anguish I went through having to explain that I had just lost my father over and over again, I thought we had it under control....how wrong I was.

Mums phone was immediately disconnected as along the lines somewhere they had taken the wrong number as the one that needed to be disconnected. So back on the phone the next day and back through the same scenario of explaining over and over again to numerous call center staff. Mums phone was reconnected again.

2 weeks later a bill arrives for 2 phones and contract still in Dads name and Mums phone is disconnected again as the bill is now over due. Back on the phone again same as above and trying to keep calm through it all and not throw my phone at the wall....phone is reconnected once again.

A week or so later once again Mums phone is disconnected again, so at this stage I had enough of the 'customer support' and went down to one of their stores, living in a small rural town this is a 1/2 hour drive each way. When I first walked in the staff were all busy dealing with other customers both in the store and on the phone with their own problems so I waited the 15 minutes till one of them was free. Immediately knowing from the dumbfound look I was getting from the juniors that this was going straight over her head I was passed onto a more senior staff member and had to again explain the problem. So now she has to get on the phone to 'customer support' and goes through the same dance as I did. It was taking was taking a fair amount of time so the girl took down my number and told me she would call and let me know what was happening when she had it all 'sorted' and that we shouldn't need to return the other phone.

A week before Christmas Mum gets an SMS from Vodafone saying that she will be receiving a bill for $2500 and it is now passed due so her phone is once again disconnected. So I jump on the phone to the girl at the shop to try to get it sorted and she tells me Mum may have to come into the store to view her license to get the contract in her name but to give it a couple of days for it all to go through. 4 days later no call and Mums phone is disconnected again. I ring the store once more but the girl is off sick so I tell them I will call back after Christmas as we were going away anyway. Wednesday last week I call back and the girl is still off sick and will be for the rest of the week and is then going on 2 weeks leave....

I left details with the girl I spoke to and she got in contact with the first girl and they were going to look into it. Friday I get a call that its still being looked into by the first girl and being that its coming up on New Years it probably wont go through till Monday. Monday (today) still disconnected so I ring the store again and they are still waiting to hear from the first girl so here we stand still waiting 2 months after for it all to be sorted out.

I hope your having a giggle Dad.RIP.
2 Jan 2012 01:54:50 PM: First off I am very sorry to read of your father's death and our condolences are extended to you and your family at this very difficult time of year.

To the issue with your phones and your late fathers contract, from what you have said it certainly appears to me that VF have yet again failed in their duty of care to their customers.

Your solution however is very simple - - - - contact the TIO and tell them what you have told us, simple copy and paste of your post will suffice.

I think you have given VF a very fair crack of the whip with the resulting unnecessary and insensitive emotional trauma to both your mother and yourself.

It should be a clear cut process.

9 Jan 2012 12:45:41 PM: Update 9/1/12: The saga continues...

I forwarded the information on to the TIO via a link to this post as it would not fit into their 1200 character box, received an email back saying they needed it to be sent via email or fax but I didn't worry about it as I foolishly gave Vodafone the benefit of doubt after receiving a call from the girls in the shop saying that the transfer staff would be contacting us within the week to get this sorted out.

We received a call from Vodafone Thursday last week from the transfer staff to get the account in Mums name all went well phone was reconnected again within 5 minutes all outstanding fees were waved second phone doesn't need to be returned and mum placed on a single account on the 50 a month plan.

Thought all was good and this was the end of it all until I received a call from mum on the land line this morning (Monday) saying she was back on call restrictions....

Email has now been sent to the TIO.
9 Jan 2012 02:47:12 PM: Lets hope VF now come to the party, what a nightmare for you and your Mother.........and just when you thought it was all resolved!!

22 Jan 2012 10:10:17 AM: Kudos to Vodafail, just got a call from the resolution center from a plain english aussie accented bloke asking if Mums phone had been sorted (which it has finally) with them profusely apologizing for what happened that he had read the post here and that they've given her the next three months free access.

20507 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No data and dropouts at 2 Jan 2012 01:14:04 PM
We have been loyal Vodafone customers for years, even in the past they have dropped out for any time up to a week. but now for 3 weeks we have not been able to access any data in our area. numerous calls to 1555 and the conclusion is that they have too many users trying to access their tower so not enough bandwith. upgrades are due sometime in the next year. our internet and smartphones are presently useless at home.
the offer from them? a 25% discount for 1 month. when i rejected this they offered it for 2 months. why would i pay for broadband when i can't even access a google home page. shopping around now for other broadband companies.
2 Jan 2012 02:08:59 PM:

"the conclusion is that they have too many users trying to access their tower so not enough bandwith"

Is this VF's conclusion or your own?

"25% discount for 1 month. when i rejected this they offered it for 2 months"

Why pay anything for a non-existent service?

You need to find another carrier that has built in capacity to their network so all users can access and enjoy their network!

I suspect VF are still signing up new customers even as I write!

Solution is easy, contact the TIO, tell the TIO what you have told us, VF have 10 working days to agree a solution, which appears to be termination of contract due to no service.

for three weeks now i havent been able to make or recive calls without trying 10 -12 times to make a call and the same thing when people try to ring me. this si very frustrating as I am a contracter who relies on my mobile for my business. I have spoke to voda several times and all they can tell me is that there is a network upgrade in my area, which should be fixed by may 2012, are they kidding we are now in january 2012.they said i could always go to another carrier which will be a total inconvinence not to mention a cancelation fee from voda what a joke.
2 Jan 2012 02:13:08 PM: A cancellation fee for no service!!

As you have contacted VF the next step is easy, submit a complaint to the TIO.

The TIO form takes less than 10 minutes to complete online and VF have 10 working days to respond to your query.

There is no way that you should have to pay exit fees for a lack of service!

20505 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Super Fail at 2 Jan 2012 10:32:24 AM
I was with 3 mobile for 6 years and had no problem ... In October I ordered 2 iPhones and was asked to transfer to Vodafone ... received the phones on the 2nd December (and they delivered one wrong phone) took two more weeks to get the correct phone delivered ... Mogration took another 4 calls and 2 weeks for one phone and the other is still not done after 5 calls for migration ... every time they took the exact details and said 4 working days ... its now 30 days since getting the phone and 75 days since ordering the phones ...
Lousy company ... lousy staff ... I am not racists but Vodafone is making me one ...
2 Jan 2012 11:23:18 AM: Perhaps the next step is the TIO or the mention of the TIO the next time you have contact with 1555.

20504 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Major at 2 Jan 2012 09:57:48 AM
A loyal Vodafail customer for 8 years this really has taken the cake. I tried to cancel my wireless broadband dongle which had finished its contract before a trip overseas for 6 months. Instead my contract was put on hold.

When I returned to the country I went to get a new wifi dongle and sign up to a new 12 month contract. They did this and put a 24 month on my old dongle without my knowledge at the same time. When i found out i was being charged twice for a service i didnt use I rang the Dehli ditzes who were no help whatsoever.

After 2 hours on the phone just explaining the situation to the worlds most incompetent and useless staff my battery ran out and I had no resolution. I rang again a week later and was told to send them back my new device and only then would they cancel my new service. wtf? i want the old one cancelled!! and my money reimbursed! no can do. i have to pay cancelation fees for a service i did not sign up to. ARGH! i have since referred this to TIO. Here's hoping.
2 Jan 2012 11:21:58 AM: Horrible!

20502 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is attempting to steal from non-customers at 31 Dec 2011 10:02:06 AM
I am not a customer of Vodafone, nor will I ever be. Imagine my surprise when Vodafone tried to debit my account as a non-customer - this is of course attempted theft or stealing. Fortunately it was an account I hardly ever use so there were insufficient funds so it was declined. I contacted my bank to put an immediate block on direct debits from Vodafone - the bank employee said "Oh, not another one!" Apparently this is an extremely common request. I contacted Vodafone to complain and naturally the Indian customer service agent wanted my bank account details, which most especially in view of Vodafone's poor privacy record, I vehemently refused to do. I explained that I could provide the date, transaction number and bank involved, but was told that insufficient information. Perhaps I should report them to the police for attempted theft?
31 Dec 2011 10:16:57 AM: Blimey! That is severe!

We have had one or two instances recorded on vodafail.com of similar situations, my daughter-in-law works for a well known bank and she told me it does happen on a very regular basis, of course that is only anecdotal evidence with no recorded statistical substance.

I think you are totally right not to give out your banking details to a CSR, but here is the rub.

I understand that direct debits (DD) can only be cancelled by the originator, in this case VF and as a customer you can only block a DD for one payment only. I am open to confirmation by VF staff or bank employees on that statement.

Would suggest that you watch your account again for the next attempt at DD (presumably next month) and should one occur go direct to the TIO with this matter, should the matter become even more persistent you may wish to consider the Privacy and Banking Ombudsman as well.

TIO contact details located under the How To Complain tab at the top of the page.

Please keep us informed of the position.

They are disreputable, disgraceful, disgusting and as for the mumble call centre in who knows where. AVOID THEM

now still waiting for my bonus bank delivery (see 20438) I called our good friends in India and was told mu phone was dispatched and should arrive before end of next week. when I pushed her further for consignment number she told me should couldnt see my order but was guessing it was sent.

She then looked further into it and found my order and said she escalated my enquiry to find out why it had not been sent yet. I doubt this was done and dont expect any result. I now sit still waiting in hope my new phone will arrive.

I fdont know why I call them, there is no reasoning with them and never get any solution or reliable info.

20498 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 31 Dec 2011 02:04:59 AM
On 21 Dec 2011 I redeemed my bonus Bank dollars I had accrued as I was told via TXT by Vodafone that the program was ending. After struggling to place the order on their website, I was finally given a confirmation of the order stating delivery would be 1-2 working days unless Tasmania ( I am in Sydney). My credit card was almost immediately debited for the additional amount I paid for the phone I chose. After "Tracking my order" on VF website it says "order being processed" after numerous calls to India, oops "Customer Care" I was informed the VF was wrong and it takes 5-6 days ( false advertising perhaps?). My last call to VF was on 29 Dec 2011 and I asked Lakshmi what would happen from here and I was told that I just had to wait and if the phone never arrives VF would eventually refund the additional I paid back to my credit card and give me 10times the credit. Upon 15mins of questioning to understand this I finally got it. SHe said that because the bonus bank program would be finished by that time if the phone wasnt delivered I would be refunded what I paid and 10 times the amount of bonus bank dollars would be added to my prepaid service as flexible credit. imagine if someone had $80BB that would be $800 flexi credit. this sounds absurd. do we have a month to use this?

Anyway. My Hubby only had a small amount of BB dollars so we ordered him a cheap phone on BB on 27 Dec 2011 and astonishingly it arrived this morning 30 Dec 2011. WHAT THE **** IS GOING ON VF?

I just want the phone I believe I have earnt by being a loyal customer. I even paid on top to get a phone I was really happy with. That makes me more angry.

20497 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EXTREMELY FAILED!!!! at 30 Dec 2011 06:54:03 PM
What a joke, you'd think that throughout their network upgrades there would be a backup system in plac so that customers of would not be affected.

And not to mentioned when it comes to complaining, the INDIAN customer service people who have no idea about their products and the company they are working for and giving incorrect information, absolute ludicrous!

Dear Vodofone,
Instead of saving money on customer service and upgrading your sysems without a backup system in place, you should think about THE CONSUMER!!

20486 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is During the cricket at 29 Dec 2011 04:45:49 PM
Vodafail advertise endlessly during the cricket. (it was a weird coincidence that their main sales person was also in the Australian Cricket Team - Michael Clarke I think his name was - he will work for Demtel or Guthy Renker when he retires from Vodafail ads).

During this incessant advertising A Current Affair was advertising their program. On the ad was a story about a woman who was charged almost $1,000 because some phone company allowed a scammer to sign her up on a phone plan and take it for themselves. Surprise, who was the phone company.

Vodafail's sales staff will sign up your pet, a scammer, a computer hacker - they don't care! They are complete idiots - at least the sales person would have got a healthy commission.
3 Jan 2012 04:53:15 PM: I heard about that story. The person had full ID, satisfactory to Australian Telco Laws, and any carrier would have signed that person up because they had the satisfactory ID. You cant call the staff idiots because they didnt identify identity theft.
3 Jan 2012 05:33:23 PM: telcos are an incompetent mob, but you're kidding if you think it's coincidence that 9 out of every 10 f--- ups are Vodafail.

After receiving my phone on December 21st and ringing on 22nd of December to get my phone SIM changed from 3 to Vodafone with the same number I have had nothing but trouble!

It is now December 29 and it has still not been transferred. On the second call to them they said they had no record of the transfer being submitted despite them still have the SIM number I gave them on the 21st.

3days later rang back again quite angry and they assured me it would be done in 3 hours and were very apologetic. Next day, still hasnt been transfer, ring again and the manager suggests it could take up to 10 days! I did my nut! Anyway they said it will be done by today. (not holding my breathe)

20483 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is beyond belief at 29 Dec 2011 08:05:45 AM
I live 10km from Parliament House in Canberra, yet my signal on the 3 network continually shows "Roaming". This is unacceptable coverage for Australia's national capital. Call dropouts occur seldomly though. My phone is a Nokia N97 mini, it is rebooted every month. Fortunately 5 months of my 3 contract remain and then I will switch to someone else.

29 Dec 2011 08:01:26 PM: ok, 3 network is different to vodafone network, the 3 company is different to Voda too, until they merge (which at this stage they have not yet, at least not in practical terms) the network is not the same.
its always roaming for you because three have a really incomplete network and when 3 customers cant get 3 reception they automatically roam onto telstra.
voda customers dont roam, they use only the voda network. I live in canberra and have no issues with the coverage, but know lots of people that have trouble with their 3 coverage, the same as you. Moving to Voda would stop the roaming thing, but being on this website im sure you know that comes with its own concerns
2 Jan 2012 03:47:09 PM: Thanks for your thoughtful comments. "Incomplete network" seems to fit in well with incomplete service from VF. Presently waiting to see when the shared 3 & Telstra network on 2100MHz dies and I soon expect to be approached by VF marketing droids offering deals to be moved over to VF.
8 Jan 2012 09:34:40 AM: 3 stoped roaming from Telstra early 2010. They only roam on Voda now :-)
4 Mar 2012 04:00:47 PM: Found out last week that 3's 2100MHz network that is shared with Telstra will stop working after 31 August 2012. Put that in your diaries!

21 Jan 2012 05:49:51 PM: This is so true of the bills I got, until I got OUT. Big bills especially when outside the metropolitan area in roam are the norm. Get out of the contract and go straight to AMAYSIM or TPG and see the bill come in each month the same and get a billion percent more than VODAFAIL offers. Stay with VODAFAIL and its like having a hand pulling $100 dollar bills out of your wallet permanently with you

20481 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is about to get into another privacy mess at 28 Dec 2011 11:50:24 PM
People at Vodafone (in India, anyway) apparently have a habit of sending data files to each other through email. Even worse, they don't do a very good job of checking the addresses. Worse yet, they don't respond when someone points out the wrong addresses. And as you all know, Vodafone insulates themselves from customer feedback, so there appears to be no way to directly contact their IT security department. The result? I've been getting hundreds of megabytes of Vodafone sales and customer data in my inbox, and it keeps on coming. Vodafone corporate security really need to find these guys (Amit Vijetra and the SHRN branch office) before the media or regulatory bodies or hackers or competitors make use of this data trove.

20479 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Port number across to Vodafone at 28 Dec 2011 09:46:25 PM
After waiting more than six days for my number to be ported across from another provider to Vodafone, there is still 'No Service' on my newly purchased phone. Vodafone, quite deliberately, mislead their customers into believing they will receive a service within 24-48 hours from one phone provider to them. Well, their on-sellers say advise that it will take "24-48 hours" for the number to be ported across to Vodafone. This service is disgraceful and misleading at best. Browsing Google and the forums within Vodafone, and referencing many customers over the many months within those forums Googled, suggests that this phenomenon isn't abnormal but quite common. So, despite Vodafone knowing that they have significant issues in porting numbers across they deliberately and willingly tell their on-sellers that "24-48 hours" a number will be ported across. It should only take a few hours at best, yet for many, many months this hasn't been the case. Vodafone's disgraceful act in misleading customers (including myself) is mind-blowing. I am also now expected to pay from the "service" being delivered from the moment I signed the contract on my new phone, yet I still haven't had any service. It is pitiful. "Power to you"? I don't think so. Such a seemingly easy task in porting a phone appears to be more complex than Einstein's theory of relativity over a Vodafone. My main issue is that I haven't even technically began using their service yet somehow have managed to be dragged into the mire in a black hole-type vacuum that sucks - well, it just sucks. Nothing else. I'm not a religious man but I pray to God (which ever your religion is) that by some divine intervention someone out there realises that this basic service in porting numbers across at the requested time must dramatically improve sooner rather than later in order for Vodafone to keep customers. I have no idea whether I should quit Vodafone or stay the course.
28 Dec 2011 11:22:41 PM: They DON'T keep customers....that's the point....over 500,000 have left Vodafail
29 Dec 2011 01:36:56 PM: I have experienced the exact same thing. It is ridiculous.
29 Dec 2011 05:58:47 PM: Quit. Save yourself before it is too late. Worse to come. I ported

Text messages won't send, so people think I'm snubbing them by not inviting them to a bbq. Frankly, the fact that the texts say they have sent is ridiculous when they clearly haven't! So now I have to resend all messages, which makes the few ppl who got the originals think I'm an idiot for sending everything twice!!

20475 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is very poor reception at 28 Dec 2011 12:45:59 PM
With connections almost non-existant or constantly dropping out and worse since the apparent upgrade recently completed It is very difficult to obtain work as I work for an agency as a sub contractor on a casual basis. This means I have a regular mobile phone bill coming in but cant keep up the payments dueto lack of decent phone reception, due to not getting enough work becauseI cant be contacted.
28 Dec 2011 01:04:48 PM: Have you contacted VF about the apparent lack of reception?

If not then you need to contact them, let VF investigate and produce a solution, if they cannot they may release you from your contract but more likely offer some compo, for instance reduced fees for a 3 month billing period. If VF do produce a result - great! But you need a phone system that works and is reliable.

In event of network failure the next step would to report the issue to the TIO should VF not release you from your contract.

Location: Clifton Springs, VIC

Just got on a 2yr contract and im already thinking of paying it out within the next month to switch to telstra.

Reception seems to be non existent in my house and not much better outside. 95% of the time I have no service and cant even receive calls.
28 Dec 2011 12:12:16 PM: Try to get the non-reception issue with VF resolved with VF, if VF say the reception is OK then take the matter to the TIO.

Why should you have to pay to get out of a non-existent service?

It is a bit of a hassle to get the process started but you have to start somewhere!!

Suggest contact VF, ask for Network services, let VF trouble shoot see what the outcome is, if VF say all is good and the issue still is present take the matter to the TIO.

20471 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Fake projection of fake data usage services at 28 Dec 2011 10:25:03 AM
On (Mobile number removed) we have been shown the data usage is exceeded between 30th Nov 2011 and 24-12-2011 so much so that it shows accumulated charges are $3482 which is indeed unacceptable.

This worse situation is still in progress for the billing cycle from 25-12-2011 till now.

This is fake information about data usage resulted in a fake generated bill which i am not ready to buy and would like to retaliate.

I have enough proof about fake data usage calculations which needed can be produced.

Please help me in this weird situation.

Regards,

<<Name deleted at OP request>>
28 Dec 2011 10:47:10 AM: $ 3482!!! Where on earth did that number come from?!?

Have you tried to contact VF about this charge, if so what did they say??

You can contest this bill by going to the TIO, provided you have tried to resolve the issue with VF.

The TIO on line form takes about 10 minutes to complete and VF have to contact you within 10 working days for a mutually agreed solution.

The amount in in question $3482 will be put into suspension whilst the matter is being investigated.

I have had to remove your contact details and surname as such detail is not permitted on this site.

Suggest you try to get this matter resolved sooner rather than later, TIO contact details at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab.

28 Dec 2011 03:05:09 PM: Hi Vodafail.com team,

Thanks heaps for your kind support...i'll certainly want to go ahead with TIO, however as per VF (sorry to say this but i feel it's Vodafake) my bill is held up and now they will investigate the data usage between 22-12-2011 and 26-12-2011...which actually is showing some fake or wierd figures which are certainly not acceptable. On the top of that i don't know why my account usage details are not displayed between 29-11-2011 and 24-12-2011 over the My Vodafone page.

Regards,

<<Name deleted at OP request>>
28 Dec 2011 03:25:52 PM: <<Name deleted at OP request>>, you need to ask the questions to VF, why are your account usage details not displayed (it may be to early for them to be displayed), when will the usage be investigated for the dates given?

Point out to VF the fake and weird figures, let them explain to you what they are.

If you remain unsatisfied advise VF you are taking the matter to the TIO.

29 Dec 2011 10:45:59 AM: Hi Vodafail team,

I totally agree with you.

We have received a notification about exceed usage for the entire month on 24th Dec 2011 with accumulated charges of only $199.45 then how come the bill generated on 25th Dec 2011 is showing $3482 it should be closer to $199.45 and including my bill together the bill could have been only around $300 to $350 only which is still acceptable, however on enquiring about it VF guys informed that once the data usage exceeds the limit they generate an alert SMS, however it is buffered for 3 days and SMS notification arrives at user only after 03 days....this is what iam totally disagree with as SMS alarts acts like an alarm there and all alarms should be (from my understanding)is real time alarm and informed to the user right away.

Then VF guys told me there was an excess data usage between 22 Dec 2011 and 24 Dec 2011 that resulted in a huge bill which is ridiculous because we haven't had any notification on 25-12-2011 or 26-12-2011 about excess usage between 22-12-2011 and 24-12-2011 instead a bill raised on 25-12-2011 with unacceptable bill charges.

My question here is how come some body using the data normally till 21-12-2011 and all of a sudden using mobile internet such a vociferously to mount up the charges to $3482 till 25-12-2011.

I am also not in an agreement the data usage can be crossed the limit till 21st Dec 2011 thus i have ordered VF to investigate the Data usage pattern from 15-12-2011 till 26-12-2011 and also i am suspecting here someone from VF team has actually tempered my wife's Handset remotely to enable GPS or something like that probably between 15-12-2011 and 21-12-2011 and same effect continued in next billing cycle as well i.e from 25-12-2011 as the data usage between 25-12-2011 & 26-12-2011 is mounted upto $1610 which is ridiculous because once we have received the SMS notification we have actually unticked the mobile internet from my wife's handset and no internet used from 24-12-2011.

29 Dec 2011 03:48:28 PM: Now i am able to see the usage details between 29-11-2011 and 24-12-2011 thus as suspected the overusage that is reported is also the fake one as since 20-12-2012 the weird data usage is being reported in the capacity of 1GB, 2GB, 3GB, 4GB data downloaded since 20-12-2011 till 26-12-2011..which is certainly unbelievable and now VF is still investigating the issue from 15-12-2011 till 26-12-2011 and would come back to me by 03 Jan 2012....they have ruined my christmas holidays already i feel like going for lawsuit against VF but i am helpless and with no support from any one except your valauable team support.

if they are not gonna be right this time i am prepared with all details to go to TIO for further support.

Please advice me any further course of action.
29 Dec 2011 04:29:06 PM: Wait until the response from VF and see if they do reply by 3/1/12.

It could be an error on their behalf so best to wait until their investigation is complete.

However..........if there is no response by the time agreed with VF, take the matter to the TIO straight away.

Tell the TIO what you have told us.

VF then have 10 working days to respond to you to a mutually agreed resolution.

Keep us informed of progress.

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
9 Jan 2012 01:12:02 PM: It's been a high time now...i have to go ahead with complaining the issue to TIO...the outcome from VF was suppose to be by 3rd or 4th Jan 2012...however still they informed they are investigating...i need your suggestion should be now i raise an issue with TIO or i have to wait till the outcome comes from VF (as per latest update it's probably by 12th Jan 2012)...Please advise.
9 Jan 2012 01:35:17 PM: VF are moving the goal posts, not just wider but into the next field!

I think you have done what any reasonable customer would do and VF have not done what any reasonable provider would do!

Remember your first post on here was 28/12/11 even accounting for the public holidays that is still an extraordinary amount of time to get matters resolved!!

Time for the TIO, then VF have a focussed 10 working days to get the matter resolved.

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
9 Jan 2012 02:14:05 PM: Thanks heaps your valuable suggestions, i have raised a complaint with TIO now and lets see what happens from here. I am certainly hopeful TIO would provide me justice which i am looking for.

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
10 Jan 2012 08:44:59 AM: It's been a great help after going through TIO.....VF has reverted all the billed charges back to a normal bill. However the wierd effect continued over the next billing cycle i.e more than 8GB of data usage shown for mere two days 25-12-2011 & 26-12-2011 (for which accumulated the charges of $1613 is still under investigation and VF told me their Tech expert will call me back after carrying out the back-end investigations. Thus still the case is not closed. Anyways there is some relief.

Please advise me now do i have to continue with updating my complaint with TIO for these two days as well.
10 Jan 2012 04:40:22 PM: There is no need to update the TIO, VF (I believe) will close the case with the TIO once the issues have been resolved to your mutually agreed satisfaction, however should the need arise after VF have closed the case and the issue happens again you return to the TIO and quote your existing TIO reference number.

Once it is all resolved VF will ask you if it is OK to close the TIO incident, if you are happy with the result you agree, if not then you disagree.

VF will get a larger "fine" from the TIO for a second incident of the same issue, so it is in VFs best interest to get it right first time.

16 Jan 2012 08:17:06 AM: Hi Vodafail team,

Thanks for support & valuable guidance.

VF has informed me that when they will generate my current month's bill they will waive off the extra usage charges of $1613.99 as well that means these charges will not been displayed in next bill. However i asked for compenstaion about creating a tailor made cap with no data services for entire remaining contract period thus reducing the cap charges to $30 each for both of us our account and offer free services to my wife's mobile for next 06 months. Over this resolution VF will come back to us once they get any confirmation from their back-end team. Still waiting for complete resolution.

they have done so much to me. where to start? had 3 contracts at one time for myself my wife and her sister. how about when they told me a plan rate and what i would get and then when i got it, they only were giving me a portion of the usage of what they had told me i would get, then tried profusely to make me pay for extra spending. or how about when i had sim failure and they wiped my phone when asked to get it fixed. or how about when they cancelled my phone number and gave me a new one when i specifically had asked for them not to.... here is a personal favourite of mine. THEY SIGNED ME UP TO A CONTRACT THAT I HAD NOT ASKED TO BE SIGNED TO, WITH NO EXPRESSED PERMISSION, WITH ME NOT AGREEING TO ANYTHING, WITH ME NOT SIGNING ANYTHING THEN KEPT SENDING ME THE BILL FOR IT, THEN TELLING ME THE BILLS WOULD BE CANCELLED THEN KEPT SENDING ME THE BILLS FOR IT! HOURS OF TIME WASTED TRYING TO DEAL WITH THAT ONE!!!! how about the countless times that they told me that if various problems would not be resolved they would offer a gesture of credit as a good will, and then when things were not resolved they refused to offer the credit that they had offered in the first place. how about the countless phone calls where i specifically asked the workers to WRITE DOWN EXACTLY WHAT WE DISCUSSED AND AGREED UPON, and when i made calls to follow up, the next person would refuse to do what was agreed because no notes were taken previously. (this happened countless times) or how about CURRENTLY. 7 DAYS AND THEY STILL HAVE NOT PORTED MY NUMBER ACROSS TO TELSTRA AND THEY PROMISED ME THAT IF IT WENT ON(ON DAY 2 WHEN I CALLED) I COULD PHONE AGAIN TO PURSUE THE ERASING OF MY FINAL BILL WITH THEM, BUT 6 DAYS LATER WHEN I PHONE THEM TO ASK WHY MY NUMBER IS STILL NOT PORTED AND REQUEST THEY FOLLOW UP ON ERASING ANY FINAL PAYMENT, THEY REFUSE TO AND JUST LIKE GOOD OLD TIMES, STATE NOTHING OF THE SORTS WAS WRITTEN DOWN AND THEY WON'T DO WHAT THEY OFFERED ME. GOD FORBID I GET A BILL FOR ANY USAGE THAT I HAVE HAD TO USE BECAUSE THEY WONT RELEASE ME TO TELSTRA, EVEN THOUGH THEY HAVE PROMISED I CAN USE THEIR SERVICES FREE OF CHARGE FROM NOW UNTILL MY NUMBER PORTS. MONEY IS BET THAT ILL GET ANOTHER BILL... I LOATHE THE THOUGHT OF THEM. I THINK THE COMPANY HAD A BACKBONE OF SCUM

If it still doesn't work afterwards, see if you can get an authorised swap in store as the Samsung Nexus doesn't support the 850mhz network. In Chadstone, there is normally sufficient reception for that particular network. Check the coverage on the VF website for specific areas first and see where the 850 network lies. - VF Employee

On the 5th december I ordered a pre paid phone online using the bonus bank dollars (which expire on 31st december, and I made up the balance), to give as a Christmas present. The phone was said to be in stock and that delivery would be 1 to 2 days or 5 to 7 days, depending on where you read about delivery. Anyway, today is the 24th December and my phone has not arrived, no indication as to when it will arrive, and one very peeved off customer. As far as I can see, doesn't that amount to false advertising?

convinced to migrate from 3 to vodafone but was not told that there was poor vodafone coverage (virtually none) in my area. Constant phone calls to them and promises from them - telling my story over again each time and nothing improved. asked to go back to 3 network - they agreed but it never happened. eventually vodafone agreed that they could not provide a service in my area and released me from the contract. The equipment was returned. Now I have two accounts one from Vodafone for $1208 - because they say I left the contract early AND a bill from 3 for the same period for service usage!
all along I have had the worst customer service, outright lies and have been shunted from one person to another all of whom no nothing about the history of the complaint.
I have no intention of paying the accounts but where to from here?
26 Dec 2011 04:30:12 PM: The best thing to do is lodge a complaint with the TIO if you don't get anywhere complaining to Vodafone. More information can be found on the 'how to complain' page.

I made the wrong decision of swapping from my old telco over to vodafail. After being on hold for half an hour they said the number would be swapped over in the next couple of hours. A week later my phone number had not been ported and after hours being on the phone to customer service, the number finally ported. What a mistake! ever since I swapped I have experienced call drop outs, received text messages that had being delayed for days numerous times and crappy reception. Thanks Vodafail!

He said we could do it by teh 3rd business day after a port application, I just got to wait due to the public holidays.

20421 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is repair problem at 24 Dec 2011 02:59:58 AM
My nokia C7 screen/LCD not working , took it to vodashop for repair and show to the salesman the problem and agree no damaged could be seen on the phone, as still under warranty, send for repair on the spot. 2 days later told by sms screen cracked and not cover under warranty ( quote for about $200 to fix )decide not to fix as new would be the same, 7 days later pick up the phone, and you could see the crack under the glass as point out the salesman. I was upset why dont they show me at the begining, and told him that C7 and N8 has an issued with screen , I guess he just doing his job. My point is if you have problems with screen not working do check if there is a cracked or hair line by put your handset under light and see on angle, make sure you check with voda store staff .

I would like to say that the service over the phone from Vodafone has been most unsatisfactory. I have called Vodafone with various enquiries four times within the last 2 weeks. This is why I have been unhappy with the service:

the wait times are over 20 minutes on average
I am passed from one officer to another at least 2 times - each time having to wait 10-15 minutes, again
twice the call 'dropped out' and I had to re-dial again
the service officers are often short and abrupt
my queries have been left unanswered and I've had to google or go to a shop

I was a Three customer and regret changing as their service did not incur such long waiting times and infuriating service.

In a 24 month contract with Three, mobile calls around Sydney have rarely dropped out. Now calls made in simliar with Vodafone have dropped out several times and the signal is weaker.

Furthermore, I have a pocket wifi account with Vodafone and do not understand why the account details are not together in the one place.

The contents of this email will go to the vodafail.com website as well as I am angry enough to do this. I will not recommend Vodafone to anyone unless the service is markedly improved.

I am one very frustrated individual. Since switching to Vodafone, I have had nothing but reception issues and dropped calls. Since I don't use a landline, I depend on my phone to contact and be contactable. In the Blacktown area where I live, in my home I cannot get more than one bar of reception on my phone, and that is if I am lucky. Usually there are no reception bars lit on my phone. If I am lucky enough to receive a call while at home, it will be distorted and marred by constant drop outs. What if there is an emergency? I would be stuffed.

I have spoken to Vodafone customer support about the issue at least on 10 different occasions, and each time I am told to be patient, that the Vodafone network is being upgraded in my area. Well, this has been on going on since at least April of 2011, and here it is almost 2012, I cannot reliably make a call from home. I am thinking now the only solution is to get out of the contract and go with another service provider.

20408 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is phone barring fail at 23 Dec 2011 08:40:10 AM
Yesterday my phone got barred but I had no idea why. I went to a Vodafone shop and they looked up my account on there computer. All invoices on my account have been paid but the computer said that I had something overdue. When they went to the collection link it said I owed them $127.44 but it didn't come up what it was about. The guy at the vodafone shop said "That doesn't make sense". He called up the Vodafone customer care number. The customer care said that they can't find any evidence of the $127.44 and they I should ignore it. The guy at the Vodafone shop got angry with customer care and said the phone has been barred. After the Vodafone guy argued with them they said that the phone should be unbarred in 20 mins then hang up. After an hour it was still barred. This time I called up Customer Care again and said that the phone still didn't work. I was continuously told that there is no evidence of the $127.44 and that the phone should be working now. I said that the phone still isn't working. I'm lucky I have a backup mobile phone with Telstra and I used that for the rest of the day. I turned my phone on today and it is still barred. If it's still barred by this afternoon I am going to go to the TIO. This is just ridiculous.
23 Dec 2011 08:54:45 AM: Just an update. My phone is working again. I just hope it doesn't get barred again.

I am new to Vodafone after my partner talked them up during the recent system upgrades media circus. However since connecting a new iPhone 4s two weeks ago I have had around 8 dropped calls and about 6 failed call attempts to the same number over a two day period. The closer it gets to Christmas I feel my sim is taking longer to connect to the Vodafone network at startup. Voice messages are turning up on the phone the day after they were sent. And forget about calling someone in a shopping centre if you see them wandering around on a different level, you may as well be on different planets! But if that leaves you wanting to vent you could always throw your phone at them... They will meet you at the escalator faster than redial!

Never again..... Customer for 12 years however that seems to be irelevant. I have a 24 month plan and a contract for a Desire HD handset that was taken out 6 months after the start of the plan contract. Am trying to port to Telstra by paying out my plan contract & continuing to pay the contract for the handset in monthly installments as originaly agreed.

Vf are trying to force me to pay out the handset at the same time however are refusing to provide any evidence that I am legaly bound to do so. Unbeleivable..... I am not asking for any discount or waiver, just want to adhere to the original terms. They had the audacity to suggest that i take out another plan at $20 p/m in order to keep paying off the handset in monthly payments. Refered to the Telco Ombudsman.

Also, was advised that the Desire HD that I purchased from VF does not work well on the VF network!!!! what an incredible level of inneptitude & incompetence

Wanted to upgrade my phone, have a reasonable amount of Bonus Bank dollars, which I thought could use to buy a new phone????

After searching on the myvodafone web page and finding no phones of interest, I decided to ring the sales contact number to see how I could purchase my phone of choice - I got transferred 3 times to various parties to eventually be told that the Samsung phone I wanted could not be brought using Bonus Bank dollars - however if I got transferred a 4th time this could be confirmed. After having listened to music, been rung back twice as well - I just gave up and thought I would just buy one on ebay. Better than dealing with these mob of clowns!!

I then rang my daughter to have a chat and had a call which she could not hear me! Thankfully on ringing back a second time we had a successful call - abolute miracle!!

How can this company get it so wrong? Are the management for real???

By the way my Bonus Bank dollars expire in a few more days - thanks Vodafone for cancelling the scheme at short notice! I trust you will be sending me a check for the value of - hahaha what a joke!

I have been a Vodafone customer for 12 years. Recently the plan I had been on for 7 years was changed. I did not want to sign up for a new contract. So I opted to port my service to a pre-paid starter kit.
I activated my started kit, and added $50 of credit.
Then called Vodafone to port my number. The first time I called, I had someone repeat 'Welcome to Vodafone how may I help you?' 4 times in quick succession before hanging up on me! The next time I called I was told to call back during business hours, which I did, eventually I got through to someone who told me it was another department, fast forward 6 hours of being on hold over 3 calls today, and finally I am told, that I cant have my original number, it is impossible. Vodafone disconnected my original service and it can no longer be ported.

We put man on the moon, but I cant have my original mobile number.

Im going to Telstra.

However you have had the result you wanted and VF have lost yet another customer of over 7 years, at this rate the churn will be just newbies with no loyal customers left!

Please ensure you have cancelled your direct debit with VF, even though you have cancelled the contract the bills still have a habit of a monthly appearance, it is wise to check your bank account on the day that the VF bill would normally be withdrawn.

Finally thanks for sharing the experience and as far as your Lesson is concerned............agree entirely!

Need Advice!
I transferred over from 3 to Vodafone and am still within the 30 day guarantee period. I called to cancel as I am having big network issues. They are telling me that they are going to send a satchel to me and that I should use that to send my phone back to them. I informed them that on their website it states that I will be told where my nearest store is and I can hand it back in there. I expressed my concern that it may be lost in the post and would rather hand it into a store so that there are no issues, plus they can check the phone in front of me to ensure that it is still in a saleable condition. She was adamant that this should not be done and I need to use the satchel. I am now worried that they are going to claim they didn't get the phone or that the phone is damaged. I just don't trust these people at all! How can I protect myself from this happening?
21 Dec 2011 06:35:31 PM: It is usually an envelope that arrives for the phone, the position may have changed but I took my phones with all the wrappings and the original boxes in the envelope to the Post Office.

The Post Office took the sealed envelope and popped it into a transit box, gave me a receipt for the package and presto off it went.

Like you I was also concerned that it may not have arrived or arrived intact or arrived to VF satisfaction.

I had heard of users sending their phones back to VF only to have them 'not arrived' at the VF depot.

I checked the online postal system tracking system each day, which to be honest, was useless, as it showed departure only and some 7 days later showed arrival.

Would the phone be in good enough condition for VF? It was a scary month or so, but I never heard a peep to say it was not good enough so presumably it was OK.

Why not take the phone to a VF store with the envelope, ask the store staff to verify the contents, seal it, then take the envelope to the post office?

Can any VF store staff verify if this method can be done?

If not would the Post Office counter staff verify contents prior to sealing the envelope?

Best I can offer I am afraid, unless anyone else can help?

Anyway, good luck!

There is a 'black spot' on Huntingdale Road, Oakleigh/Waverley (starting Ferntree Gully Road, finishing almost at High Street Road) that seems to 'move' during phone calls. I pass through this section of road morning and night to work and back. One phone call will drop out minimum of 6 or 7 times. I call back, talk 15 secs, drop out. Repeat,I call back, talk 15 secs, drop out. Clients love it. They think I'm great. NOT! This is just one example. I have gotten to the stage, where I know so many 'black spots' around Melbourne (due to my travel with work) that I just find a spot I know 'works' and pull over to answer calls. No point in having blue tooth and voice enabled answering if you cant fricken use it! As for the Blackberry network...lets not even GO there!.....Internet? Emails? I'd get a quicker response writing a letter and posting it the old fashioned way. I'm surprised though, that inner suburbs of Melbourne have so many blackspots with Vodafone. Shouldnt it just work? Maybe its just be expecting too much from a service provider that I pay monthly....

Transferring from 3 (for some reason I fell for the new 'improved transmission from Vodafone' patter), so got on the phone, actually spoke to an Australian, which was impressive, and transferred at no cost, plus got a great internet pack. So far so good. Then the fun starts. No response after 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks. Hmmm. Where's my new SIM? Next time, no Australians involved, straight to Bangalore. "Sorry you can go into any Vodafone store and get a new SIM", "No, please send me one in the mail" "Well, it can be 7 working days!". So I get the new SIM finally, and of course it is not working at all - why? Because after 6 weeks, the migration hasn't even been completed!!

Back to Bangalore...First attempt "Hello this is Ranjan, may I have your name please?" I give my name. "Hello, this is Ranjan, your name please? If I cannot hear a response I will have to terminate the call. Goodbye!" Second attempt..."Hello this is Raj, sorry for the wait, high call volumes today! (So a patent liar as well as a poor performer) You don't seem to have been migrated yet - I will put you straight through to the migrations team where there is no waiting period." Transfers me...."Sorry, due to an emergency, we are unable to provide you with service at this time...meanwhile, why not check out our website..." beep...beep...beep.

That's how fail vodaflop is. Bunch of fraudsters. Let's shut them down.

20379 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Complete fail at 20 Dec 2011 08:31:47 PM
Got a no contract vodafone pocket wifi awhile ago, after about a month it turned to absolute shit. Actually, shit has more merit as it attracts flies. The service is almost non existent. Constant drop-outs, goes from full reception to nothing. I was told by the sales person that it was fast and would work for gaming and youtube streaming. What a load of bull. IF this post even works Ill be surprised..
Screw you vodafone, whoever is running the show needs a bullet. GTFO

20376 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is laughably BAD BAD BAd at 20 Dec 2011 01:49:08 PM
Just keep getting spam junk email ad blurb from Vodafone for my no longer used Vodafone BB dongle, so clicked on the Unsubscribe link in their email.
Guess what, the unsubscribe service is "unavailable". Typical crap ass fail from Vodafone.
I smashed my Vodafone dongle several months ago with a large hammer, sick to death of being unable to download anything from their crapola broadband "service".
Buggar off Vodafailure.

20375 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is BAD TREATMENT OF 3 CUSTOMERS at 20 Dec 2011 01:31:17 PM
Just sick of Vodafone and the way they are handling the migration of 3 customers. They are one company and can't even expedite the porting of numbers WITHIN their own company! Whole process has taken almost 6 weeks now. The call centre lies through their teeth, they keep blaming their "systems" for all the delays. How does one get through to the CEO to tell him his company is TOTALLY INCOMPETENT!!!

20374 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Complete Rubbish - I'm moving at 20 Dec 2011 12:54:02 PM
If I had wanted to sign up with an Indian phone company I would have asked. Instead I get one thrust upon me. I have just wasted 20 minutes of my life dealing with a three year old operator in India just trying to set up a 25MB data roaming bundle... and then the phone dropped out before I could complete.
The website is totally useless - can't download my last bill - Java script error.
I'm definitely leaving.

20372 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is 100% WRONG at 19 Dec 2011 08:59:56 PM
My broadband and landline are with another carrier. They offered to bundle my mobile with the aforesaid services and a great deal, with a 2-72 hour turnaround for the "porting" from Vodafone.
The porting dragged on and on and on, with my carrier claiming Vodafone had a different DOB for I.D. purposes.
This meant I had to call Vodafone to clarify the information.
The Vodafone Call Centre guy said, and I quote, "we often tell others [carriers] that the DOB is wrong so the customer will call us to rectify it and we have the opportunity to find out why they want to switch".
Further conversation revealed this was a practice he was "not particularly fond of" and "we usually tell the customer the birthdate year has been transposed".

I don't think I need to say any more.
