Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

9433 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is more useless than an a-hole on my elbow at 31 Dec 2010 08:18:34 AM
i currently have no signal on my vodafone phone. it has been like this for at least an hour, and I can't seem to fix it. I would call vodafone to complain, but I don't have any reception!!! a similar thing happened a couple of days ago when i went to meet someone in a shopping centre - as soon as I walked through the doors, all my signal dropped out. according to someone in the vodafone store i was "like, the 10th person" to come and complain about no signal, and apparently they were trying to fix it. I think it's a break in contract on their half if I can't rely on their service. I don't know if I'm going to be able to make calls/access the net at any time. In an emergency situation, this would be devastating. I'm not talking about 112 emergencies, but simple everyday emergencies like being late for work, or being in a broken down car. If I can't call my boss or RACQ when I need to, then I need to change services!
damn you vodafone!!!

I have been with vodafone for around 17 months now and the reception issues l have experienced in the Sydney metro area are to numerous to list. Once l lose reception my phone often does not find it again unless l power down and restart. I have tried contacting them at least 10 times, but each time l try I am waiting a ridiculous amount of time. When my contract is up in July, I will be out of there asap. I hope everyone else does the same.

9429 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the devil at 31 Dec 2010 08:11:52 AM
My phone constantly loses reception, text messages dont go through for hours some times. Other times they just aren't received. Just yesterday i left my house keys in a friends bag and it took me 40 minutes to be able to call them and get through without it saying call failed.
I cant even begin to count the amount of times my phone has dropped out mid conversation and i have to call back, which means every time i call back i am charged the 30c connection flag fall.
I could list many problems i have had with vodafone but it could turn in to a novel. Unless anyone on here is a publisher and thinks it might be a good book idea where i could recoup some money i have lost to vodafone i might give it a shot...

Not so much a mess but the same situation as others here, where there is very little reception in carrum downs, victoria and phone calls are cut out more often that not.
Although we've been silly enough to stay with vodafone for years now, we were assured 4 years ago that when we moved from oakleigh south to carrum downs, the reception would be better, then when we renewed our contracts & upgraded our phones, we were assured it was the aerials in the old phone so the new handsets would have better range. Again this was not the case.
We are now awaiting the end of our contract so that we can finally not listen to any more of vodafone's advice & switch carriers.

Sick of laura also.
Why is their whole customer rep... outsourced?
I had to phone telstra for my mum other day for problem with internet and i had a english speaking rep on the phone within a minute and problem resolved by a courteous native speaking rep within 2 minutes.
Vodafone you suck.
2 Jan 2011 06:01:55 PM: i agree, i have internet with telstra and my phone with vodafone.
when my internet has a problem, i ring telstra and usually have the problem fixed within 10 minutes at most.
With vodafone im sitting on the phone for 40 minutes just to have someone answer and then cant understand them coz of there accent.

9424 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Megafail at 31 Dec 2010 08:05:16 AM
Me and my mum signed up for a 24 month Vodafone contract just over two years ago on the $49 so that we could each get the Nokia E71's. Throughout our entire time with them out bills were never accurate, we were charged for numbers we had never dialed and internet that my mum didn't use. We never has any reception in our area, even though we were assured by the staff at the fountain gate store that we would. Towards the end of our contract, we were wondering exactly what day our plan expired as we were already fed up with Vodafone's service and wanted to change providers. The contract end date was not specified on our contract so we contacted customer support and spent six hours on hold just to ask when our contract with them expires. We were told by the support staff that it was meant to be the 16th of November, but later when we received a bill for approximately $400 for a 10 day period we were told that it actually expired on the 6th. We took this matter up with authorities and got our account terminated, yet still receive monthly bills of astronomical amounts.

After waisting my time trying to get their automated "Laura" to connect me to the right place, i only end up getting some idiot that has no idea what im talking about. I was constantly transferred or i get the "ill need to speak to my supervisor" only to be hung up on then i need to repeat the whole process. I shit you not this process took over 2Hours and i still had no answers.
If your disconected while talking to a customer rep or hung up on, surely seeing as though they have all your details why dont they call you straight back?

9421 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is In Trouble I would think at 31 Dec 2010 08:01:15 AM
I just moved back to Vodaphone a (who I was with about 10 yrs ealier) from Optus. I have brought accross 3 phones and purchased 3 new handsets on plan with Vodaphone's Crazy John's outlets. I thought Vodaphone would offer similar coverage to Optus espically when there website said (Qutoed from Vodaphone Australia website "Vodafone's 3G network covers more than 94% of the Australian population. GSM (2G) network covers up to 94.52%* of the Australian population. Our GPRS (2.5G) network covers 92% of the places you live and work in Australia.").

I have had shocking coverage and in the 4 weeks I have been with them I have had limited reception in Toowoomba, No reception at Pittsworth QLD and limited to no coverage in the Tweed Heads area of the Gold Coast. I live in Brisbane and on many occasions I can't get 3G or for that matter internet coverage as my handset seems to drop signal and not connect. This issues is happenong on all 3 of our handsets which are all diffrent makes and models of phones.

I feel that Vodaphone offer no where near 94% coverage to the Australain Population they claim and the quality of service in the (so called lucky few that do have coverage) is not very reliable.

The majority of the time my phone doesnt ring but a couple of minutes later the call comes through on message bank which means I have to call the person back. Text messages taking ages to get through. There is a black spot that my line keeps dropping out. The worst complain I have is the lack of service. I have rung Vodafone several times and am kept waiting for sometimes up to an hour or more and when I eventually get through they are absolutely no assistance.

Where do I begin? I have not 1 but 2 phones with Vodafone. I have been a Vodafone customer for atleast 7 years and never have I been so outraged and dismissed by Vodafone themselves. I am a pre-paid customer and I don't know if other pre-paid customers are going through what I am going through. However, I have been insulted, dismissed and treated terribly because I am a pre-paid customer. Are customer's on post-paid being treated better because they can use the whole "i will cancel my contract" to get at Vodafone? I don't know. All I can say is the customer service has been appauling, which is disgusting considering they haven't given me any good service, reception or anything. Pre-paid or not, I am still a Vodafone customer and I expect to be compensated for loss of time, personal business and personal stress that has been caused due to call drop outs, messages that don't get delivered etc.

I upgraded my phone and plan, they sent me a blackberry to replace my i-phone (not my first choice) when i recieved it and did the up dates, the phone blacked out and i could not turn it back on, they sent me a replacement, and the same thing happened but in this instance they requested that I take it to a store, I live in Tamworth and the closest "Store" is 3-4 hours away, I was then advised that the good guys sell there phones, when I got to the good guys they only sell pre-paid and dont deal with the normal phones, I was then advised by vodafone that they would send me another new phone, which would arrive in 5-10 days when after 10days i hadnt received the new phone i rang and was advised that was being sent an I-phone and that it would not arrive til the middle or Late January... so i am now playing the waiting game, oh and i am still being charged for the new handset, that i cant even use.

I have been with Vodafone for the last 6-7years. I have been on $49, $69 caps and now on a $79 cap. Over the last 24months i have had real problems with coverage. I was not working from april to July and my phone bills were around $100. when i started back at work, working six days college 1 full day and 4 hours a night for 3 nights, my phone bill jumped to $400 -$500. In the last 6 months it has just been terrible with network. i have around 2+ calls a day that drop out, around 2+ calls that i cant even connect to but yet my bill jumps by at least $300. when i called at the beginning of december they could not explain to me why it had jumped. all he did was discuss if he changed me to a $79 cap then he can credit those bills and you wont pay more. I thank him in a way for that but at the end of the day why did the bills jump? why after 6+ years did it take me to call for them to help? I am paying more for a coverage that i hardly use!!!

In September I changed from 3 to Vodafone due to reception problems which resulted in 3 roaming to Telstra. Vodafone stated my address was in a good area. Initially things went well but in the last few weeks I have line drop out in my house quiote often. Yesterdat contacted their technical help who stated that my actuall address was likely to have problems but to record the drop outs so they could investigate. Today I again contacted them with details of drop outs but they said again my address would have problems and they would not investigate despite my saying my phone was not much use if I couldn't use it at my own home. My wife is still with 3 and they seem to now be OK.

I have recently found a way to get out of my Vodafone plan without paying any exit fees. I asked to be changed from Post-Paid to Pre-Paid. They did it straight away and I havent paid any money to Vodafone since. The only issue is that I cannot use my old mobile Vodafone number because it is currently registered under a Pre-paid account (I havent put any credit on this account) - instead I have gone to a different provider.

The pain of changing my mobile number was far less than the ongoing frustration of the Vodafone service, or lack thereof.

Good luck guys!

I know if I send the phone back another war will begin because i refuse to pay for it. My husband and I pay a substantial amount each month on our contracts with Vodafone. We live in Brisbane and spend a considerable time at the coast. We send photos of our newborn to relatives in Sydney. They received them up to three days after we send them!!!!!! Having calls drop out is the norm for us especially when up the sunshine coast - you'd think we were in the outback! The Internet is very slow and look, I don't know if every other carrier is the same, it comes down hotbox - if you say you are going to provide a service then do so - if you don't , stop taking our money. It's not about impatience and now now now mentality. It's requiring a multiple million dollar carrier to provide service that it promises. Customer Service Reps cop it from customers because of their employers failure to care. They have their frontline on little money dealing with greedy decisions they make in the board room.

The only time i got a call from an australian was last week when i threatened to go to the tio. then i got an aussie.
let's get vodafone back into the 21st century not the dark ages, as current management at 3 want it to be in.

poor customer service, show no regard for customer loyalty, bad reception.
over the last month i have called them 4 times which has been close to 5 hours. my call was always tranferred, i needed to keep calling back as they failed to return to my call despite saying they would do so within 24hours.
i ended having to go into a store, who them had to contact the same customer service number, the sales guy was on the phone for 2 hours!
the matter has still not been resolved and i was advised to contact the ombudsman. i feel it has gone down hill since they took their customer service off shore.
my wife recently swapped to optus, when she had an issue they quickly dealt with the problem, escalated the issue and quickly reimbursed her. they also made sure they contacted her to sort it out. she also received an apology letter in the mail!
the stark difference in our service and treatment really showed me how poorly vodafone were treating us!

I use pre paid mobile broadband. I was with 3 and always had great coverage. But my usb device got old would drop out as it come lose and break conection.
Being with Vodafone with my mobile phone i went with them for my internet, WHAT A MISTAKE!!!!
Before i brought it i asked how good was the coverage, i told the guy where i lived. He told me he wasnt far from me and he most of the time had full coverage and somtetimes it would only drop one bar but that was rare and didnt even affect as it was only one bar down. So on this being said i brought it.
When i went home and tryed to conect i couldnt get NOT ONE bar of reception. After two days of trying on the third day i was finally able to conect ONLY WITH ONE BAR.
After i full week of most times getting no coverage and sometimes only concecting with one bar (even then would most times just cut out) i had had enough. I went back to the same shop and told them how unhappy i was with my POOR concetion. I was told "The tower for this area is down, but they are already fixing it so it wont take much longer"
A month later and nothing has changed WHAT I LIE!!! Then it starts coming in the paper about this problem. I could of been told the truth before i brought it, but i guess selling them off the shelves and pretenting to deal with the problem later is more important to Vodafone, then telling the truth and letting people go to other companies.
I was always happy with Vodafone with my mobile phone. BUT THIS IS BECOME THEN A JOKE!!! thanks for nothing Vodafone!!!!

9384 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is a joke at 31 Dec 2010 04:41:28 AM
I went looking for a new phone at voda's Tea Tree Plaza branch on a Saturday afternoon 2 weeks ago around 20 minutes before closing. I looked at the displays for less than 2 minutes & looked around the room for assistance from the 7 female staff gathered around the counter discussing their 'private' plans for the night in full voice. After what seemed an eternity, I got fed up with being ignored & took a photo of them in their glory. One little cutie even posed & smiled. I smiled back & calmly walked out, waiting for one of seven to say 'excuse me sir, can I help you' . . . My Wife mentioned that they just don't care. I agree!
31 Dec 2010 07:55:25 AM: I had a similar experience in that very shop about 2 months ago, so I amused myself by doing the survey thing on the gadget on the counter, several times over. One of the questions was about being attended to, or something, and I answered honestly (every time I did the survey). I thought it was a fake, and what you've written indicates I was right, since it seems as if the staff are worse, not better. It makes recent statements by Vodafone just a little bit harder to believe.

9383 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Arrogant at 31 Dec 2010 04:37:22 AM
I went into 2 Vodafone shops today and asked if they had stock... They both asked if i was upgrading or a new customer having a hunch they had stock i said new customer coming from Telstra. Magically an IPhone 16gb appeared in front of me. We sat down to do the paperwork and then i informed them i was actually transfering from 3. The Iphones magically vanished again. " Sorry we can't sell these to you "

How can vodafone have such a low regard for existing customers. I have been with them for over 5 years, but after this act of total disrespect I will be taking my business elsewhere.

If vodafone spent as much of our money on providing real service & infrastructure as they do on sponsoring motor sport, cricket etc, we wouldn't have these issues. They might have needed their branding on events to gain consumer awareness in the early days, but now they should concentrate on doing right by us, their CUSTOMERS!

My GF has just received a photo I sent to her 9 DAYS AGO! It also appears that the network no longer recognises my phones ability to send photos via my mobile handset !! Bad weather appears to also adversely affect the network , why is it that in the middle of the Parramatta CBD ( outside , not in a building) the reception will intermittently disappear , then magically re- appear , then in the middle of a call ( still being stationary mind you ) go back to zero , with the subsequent loss of the call ! I had less dropouts when the mobile network was first introduced all those years ago !!

I just can't win! With 2 iPhone 4s, $200.00 min. Per month going to the company u would think one call wouldn't drop on me. Moving from "3" to vodafone was stupidity on my behalf, I have seriously gone from bad to worse!! So being a "valued" client I called immediately after the first week to be faced with a 46 minute wait time then an extra 33 minutes as I pressed the button for customer assist not tech support! Oh it gets better after taking a landline number upon calling back the information given was the "system" was down so they couldn't help me! He assured I would hear from him asap once the system "rebooted"
For the record this was 7weeks ago... No callback no reception and no $$!

they're re-deploying their towers to new areas that require coverage at the expense for existing customers. They should have left the existing services & moved the 3 hardware instead. Don't piss of your loyal customer base voda.

It's funny how Vodafone 3G could be available at the same spot 3 months ago and slowly gotten worse, to not working at all! It's as if they are taking down towers! Have they been forced to do so due to market share? How is it a software issue when it works in other places or do different towers have different softwares?
It's certainly not my modem or phones as they work in other places.

I've been a loyal Vodafone customer since OneTel went bust and haven't been elsewhere since. I have 2 mobiles and 3G mobile internet with Vodafone. I've been pretty happy in the past but these last 3 months have been bad for 3G in Turramurra and in the last 3 weeks the 3G network has been so bad that all I have is GPRS at the speed of the late 90's on copper phone lines and 486 computers! Contracts are 2 way and not one way. I agreed to pay for a service and not be cheated and lied to only to give away my dollars without anything in return. So contracts can be broken if either party stops delivering their end of the bargain. Basic contract law!!!So Vodafone had better deliver some compensation to their customers until it's fixed or refund or else it looks like another OneTel to me!

Trouble shooting
Thursday, December 30, 2010 in News

Dear customers,
We want to ensure that the network experience we provide meets your high expectations for service quality.
We have been working hard to improve the network and build in new capacity, but if you are still experiencing difficulties with your Vodafone service, we would encourage you to contact us on 1555. If you experience any wait time when you contact us, please select the call back option and we will return your call.
Our Technical Support Team in on hand to talk to you about your experiences, take note of your feedback, escalate the issue to our Network Team, when required, and we will consider cases where we may provide you with account credits, where appropriate, to compensate you for any recent inconvenience.
To investigate the issue, our Technical Support team, will ask you for a few quick questions:
How long have the issues been occurring?
What location / locations are you experiencing difficulties?
On what dates and times have the issues occurred?
What brand and model of handset are you using?
Once we have established this information, here are some of the trouble shooting steps that we will walk you through, which may help to improve your network experience:
Perform a Manual Network Selection on the handset to confirm we have access from the handset to the network
Switch the handset off and on to check if this then re-establishes the network connection
Check for any known network outages or planned work at the locations
Check the coverage at your reported locations
If the issue is not rectified through the initial troubleshooting it will be raised as a fault for our network team to investigate it further.
Following the investigation by our network team, there will be a number of possible outcomes such as:
Confirmation that there is an impacted site and a timeframe for when the site is due to be fixed
There is marginal coverage in the specific area and a timeframe as to when we expect the coverage to improve.
There is conjestion at the site, which we will seek to alleviate as part of our network capacity upgrades.
If the coverage is not due to improve in the short term, or we cannot suggest a device to improve network performance such as Pocket Wi-Fi or an alternative handset, we will consider a number of options such as the possibility of an account credit until the issue is resolved or releasing you from your contract when an appriopriate resolution cannot be achieved within a reasonable timeframe.
Each individual customer issue can have different symptoms, such as problems with making or receiving calls, dropped calls, delayed text or voicemail messages or slow data speeds, and this is why we need to look at each case individually and provide a suitable solution for that issue. Some issues are quickly solved and some may take slightly longer to resolve. We will do our best to indicate a time frame for resolution of your particular issue.
We have a major network upgrade program underway and the sites that will be upgraded to improve coverage in the first quarter of 2011 will soon be published on this website. We will keep this up to date so you get a better picture of coverage improvements that may be coming soon to your area.
Thank you for your patience as we work through these issues to improve your network experience.

31 Dec 2010 08:13:15 AM: Cormac, thanks for the BS email, Being direct of customer service & experience, again you have not listened or heard your customer complaints, if I was in your position, I would not only be embarrassed but probably hire someone alot more competent with skills in serving customers. Please understand, that you have broken your contracts to more and more customers everyday, you promise things that is so obvious by this website does not happen, are you just trying to be funny!!! You are serious about these problems being fixed and someone will call us back!!! I believe we have all been patient, maybe you guys should just start actually be proactive and not reactive to a situation which is so far out of hand, I really believe you will not be able to fix this in the immediate future. Poor you, what a huge negative to your branding, not even your sponsorships at sporting events will fix this and looks to me, that vodafone will loose a large majority of its customers to service providers whom actually provide a service. Good luck, hope you dont have to join the employment line too soon!!!!

9362 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Mild Fail at 30 Dec 2010 10:46:07 PM
I've been using vodafone ever sinse I had a mobile so that's 6+ years. I split my time between Sydney at Uni and rural NSW where I grew up. Service used to be great, but the last few years it has been, frankly, crap. Randomly service drops out, and ranges from full to none in a matter of seconds. Calls drop out, the internet doesn't connect, messages don't come through.
This also happens in Sydney.
Vodafone's treatment of rural people is also a fail. I went on a contract with them at the start of the year, and they wouldn't recognise my rural address, as it was a property name, not a house number. They kept telling me that it wasn't a real address because it wasn't on google maps... excuse me? I think I know where I've lived for the last 21 years. They kept cutting off my phone, and I had to pay to use other phones to contact people, which they never reimbursed me for.
I'm nearly ready to be done with vodafone. When my contract runs out I don't think I will return to them.

At first I got the Sony Ericsson c902 on plan from you guys from about 2-3 years ago and i had to return it 3 times due to the phone being a peice of crap. The fourth time the phone was okay, but there was dropouts, message delays and terrible reception, but eh i thought maybe you guys will fix it.

Anyways i decided to stupidly switch to an nokia n97, the customer service girl on the phone told me that its a really good phone. Anyways after a month the phone was buggy as well, dropouts, message delays and the terrible reception was terribly worse and i thought eh ill return the phone and get a new one.... maybe its the phone?

Anyways i got a new one.... SAME FRIGGIN THING!! I even switched my sim card to another phone and its still terrible.

9359 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is dont treat staff like nothing at 30 Dec 2010 10:25:25 PM
I have previously worked for a vodafone store and half these issues are ridiculous! More then 50% of the 'issues' mentioned on the site could be solved in one simple phone call or a visit to your store. I resolved several of these a day! All telco customer care centres are based in India believe it or not. They speak fluent english otherwise they wouldnt have been able to get their job in the first place! People theses days dont want to wait, they exaggerate their wait times saying they waited 2 hours when its been 15 minutes come on people, we are such a now now now society that when something doesnt get resolved in the first 5 minutes you chuck in the towel and have a whinge! I did the best I could everyday to provide excellent service with the policies and procedures in place. If your not happy with the service then leave! Go to telstra, you'll get just as annoyed with them and either come running back or do the loop and try optus next, only to find some other issue with them! technology has come a long way and people dont know how to live without it, so what if your call drops mine have and I dont get all pissy about it. I simply call back and get on with my life! Seriously instead of a credit check for customers we should do a IQ test instead, sort the normal people from the retards!

30 Dec 2010 10:38:15 PM: dude its probably the 50,000 people calling up wanting a whinge about service only to find they have put their sim card in back to front. Its happened, several customers a day in fact! all you customers are creating the long wait times.
30 Dec 2010 10:41:02 PM: I highly doubt the people that are here posting about no coverage, constant call drop outs, sms/mms arriving hours to days later are calling up to find out they have their sim card back to front. More like they are calling up for all of the reasons that seem to be repeated throughout the 9000+ complaints. I am not saying they are all the same, but the majority of posts have all of those issues in them.
30 Dec 2010 10:44:49 PM: I agree with a lot of what you said... there are some points to also raise here..... 3's call centre was in Mumbai India, until recently voda's was in Egypt, Fiji and Tasmania. with the merger Fiji and Egypt closed and they took on board 3's contact centre Optus is in Malaysia and Telstra is mostly here in oz but has one oe 2 in India. (I don't have a problem with that either, I find them lovely. Alot of issues is infact handset manufacture problems, ie: Sony Ericsson in a lot of there models hold the network better than say a LG. Another point is Tool of trade mobiles (mobiles which I know most 3 staff even in their Australian contact centres have and wouldn't surprise me if its now adopted by voda as one) get network priority. Vodafones network is well known to be ageing though so really when it comes to the knitty gritty it wouldn't hurt for them to spend a little bit of their now $4 Billion in revenue they gain from what seems to be a now not so loyal 7 million subscribers.....
30 Dec 2010 10:48:06 PM: VF staff bagging clients is not helping the cause. If the issue was idiot customers your CEO wouldn't be apologizing. Still working in customer service I sympathise that CSRs are copping the flack for managements stuff ups.
31 Dec 2010 12:26:24 AM: Strangly enough, if you did a little research you'd find Vodafone is currently doing a half-a-billion dollar upgrade on their network...
31 Dec 2010 05:35:15 AM: They can go shove there Indian call centers. I switched to virgin after vodafone stuffed my bill up that took them over 4 weeks to fix. But 90% of the time I get an Aussie and if I get an indian I hang up and ring again. Vodafone needs to stop outsourcing becuase just maybe if they employed Aussies then customer wouldn't spend so much time yelling at the staff member they can't understand. Yes, they may speak English but that does not mean you can understand 50% of what their saying. What irritates me the most is that it's hard to find a job in Australia as it is yet companies like vodafail continue to outsource overseas. But I supose if Telstra do it the is ok. WRONG Vodafone!
31 Dec 2010 08:11:23 AM: If voda/3 didnt have overseas call centres you would find the voda contact centre would be open till 8 pm still.... not 24 hours... its not just about money its also about having the ammount of people needed to service a large ammount of calls. If you continue to hang up and call again you are only going to contact someone that can't help you... If you call through to say Voda direct sales not only can they not help you, you are also ruining someones stats, sales conversion then ultimately hurting their hip pocket (commissions) not a very nice way to treat a fellow ausralia.. Also your one call that might only last 30seconds before hanging up is not only wasting your time and getting you frustrated its also costing the company $100 plus per call.
31 Dec 2010 01:31:01 PM: Your a fkn idiot the person who posted the initial post. I'm paying $80 a month and not getting the service that Vodafone states I should be receiving.

Read the The ACCC enforces the Trade Practices Act, a law which, among other things, imposes on sellers a ``statutory condition'' that goods and services must be ``fit for their intended purpose''. When they aren't, it breaks the deal between the seller and the consumer.

I only recently switched from Optus Timeless plan to Vodafone's woeful Infinite plan, no 3G internet on my HTC Desire HD, MMS's arrive 2-3 days late, I live in Brisbane's 4000 postcode, my signal drops out completely, hardly ever see the 3G on my phone. And yes I (like the other 10,000) vodafone customers have called support and waited not minutes, but hours on hold to speak to someone, I eventually got through and my call dropped out twice while talking to them! Haha go fk yourself if you think we are whingers! If we pay for a service, we expect it to be up to standard.
31 Dec 2010 02:06:21 PM: Here here! I used to work for Voda as well and used to get customers complain about the long wait times all the time. I always loved it when with their phone calling the same number I would get through in 5/10 minutes.
31 Dec 2010 09:38:39 PM: NO 3G coverage by VF anywhere...3G fails to operate
31 Dec 2010 09:40:26 PM: anytime this wally wants to see my recorded records of gross failure he is free to look....but give me any of this tripe about how good VF is.....they need to get their game togther....
2 Jan 2011 08:36:59 PM: Initial post is interesting - "used to work for VF". If they are such a great company, why did you leave them? Can't have been that great a company then. You can't honestly think that all of these complaints, this website, news articles etc are just because a few people can't work their phone or wait for more than 15 minutes? If you do, you are a bigger idiot than I thought. Maybe if VF did an IQ test on their staff, there wouldn't be as many problems!!! Typical VF staff member (former) demonstrating their astounding lack of empathy. Newsflash, that is part of your job - customer support and assistance - idiot!!!

Calls drop out often and callers complain they have to phone twice to get through. By the way the Nokia N8 is not good, keyboard is too small as a consequence of the screen being too small, and the touch screens not nearly responsive enough.
Vodafone will not exchange N8 for a cheaper phone even though it is only 2 weeks old.

I work in Surry Hills in Sydney CBD and have no reception at all. Everyday I work I enter a 'blackhole' where no signal gets in or gets out. It's not until the trip home from work that I start to get any reception and receive SMS that would have been sent to me hours ago.

I don't use my phone as much as some people but I guess I am entitled to any compensation too. I use my Wifi network at home instead of 3G. I shouldn't have to but it appears that Vodafone does not have 3G. I will be definitely looking into the issue further.

9351 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is merger at 30 Dec 2010 10:12:03 PM
Used to work for 3 mobile until the merger between the 2 and a fair few of us lost our jobs... It seems clear that mergering the 2 networks is causing a lot of the reception issues. trying to make the 2 networks run side by side while also being able to roam with their respective roaming partners (3- tel, voda-opt) its weird but we were told this was likely to cause pain... its just a pity they are not so forth coming with their customer base. Also the high wait times of their conatact centre.. 3 used to have LITTLE to NONE.... now its wrapped up in the high wait times and rudeness of the voda network as a whole...
30 Dec 2010 10:47:50 PM: For an ex staff member your very mis informed. The merger has not combined the networks at all, so claiming reception issues caused by that is incorrect as voda towers aren't related to 3 towers. This will stay that way till 3's contract with Telstra runs out. As for the call centers, the call center in Mumbai formally was 3's and is now VHA's, however the departments are still separate, calling 3's customer care line will go to their section and staff, which haven't changed.
30 Dec 2010 10:53:15 PM: hahaha, ok... I wont talk about the testing we were all involved in in regards to the networks then... all good..

9343 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is vodafone in india should be replaced with people that know what they are doing and care!!! at 30 Dec 2010 09:55:07 PM
well i got into a 24mth mobile phone contract sometime in july with 2 phones.they gave us nokia n97 phones. both phones are not working properly but mine is really bad. i have taken it back for repairs in november and it broke again when I needed the phone the most (my mother fell and went to hospital in an emergency situation) the phone didn't work for me. that was on a weekend so I took the phone to Castle Hill Vodafone on Monday 20 dec and told the shop assistant all the problems. The person there told me that he had written an email reporting it. i had to take phone home and they would call me within 48 hours. Ha! Ha! I had to call them back after Christmas to find out what was happening. I spoke to India. Assistant tells me it was in my records that I was getting a new phone, made me choose one of 3 phones. Also said they couldn't send it out, I had to go to Castle Hill store to pick it up. Gave me their email address so I could write to them to tell them to prepare the phone. So I did exactly what I was told to do. I got an email back from Castle Hill 5 days later on the 29th of december telling me to go and pick up the phone. i went today only to be told I can't have a phone, they made a mistake!!!! I went out of my way to go to that store, and that is the result I got. Aside from that, because Castle Hill has taken so long to reply, I called India again on the 28th of December. The assistant told me to go to any branch nearest to me to pick up the phone. My mother is in Westmead Hospital and I live in Kurrajong. If you see that on your map, you'll see that Rouse Hill is the closest to me going to the hospital. So I went there on the 28th at 3:45pm. The assistant Farze told me their system was down. I insisted he could still help me and give me my replacement phone. After insisting he called India and we waited 1 hour 1/2. He started shouting at the Indian assistant and told her she didn't know what she was doing. (I could have told him that).
Anyway ended up waiting 1/2 hour to speak to the supervisor, a lady called Pinky who refused to give us her employee ID. and refused to speak to me. She refused to give me the phone. I wasted 1 1/2 hours of my precious time where I could have been with my very ill mother, and did not resolve the case. The next day 29th December I called Vodafone India on 1555 and spoke to 5 people after a span of maybe 40 minutes and didn't resolve the situation. The phone calls were made in the hospital bed of my mother.
The situation is: I am using a very old Nokia phone that doesn't even work properly. My Nokia N97 is in the closet because it doesn't work. I am on an plan and paying for it monthly without a proper phone. India office is suks, no one is efficient enough, no one can make decisions. There is nobody in Australia that I can speak to that has any authority. What can I do? if I break the plan, they will charge me. I refuse to pay for inefficient services.
Please help!
30 Dec 2010 10:03:15 PM: Have a look at the 'how to complain' link at the top of the site. It will take you through the process of getting out of your contract. You will end up at the TIO, but it is your best bet.
23 Jun 2011 01:05:58 PM: lady i have had problems with vodaofone too but i dont post peoples names on a public website. if you want to complain you can but like the website suggests we are not trying to target the staff so dont mention names we are angry at the network not the innocent staff who are just trying to make a living

9338 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is baaaadddd.... at 30 Dec 2010 09:47:33 PM
So, upgraded to a HTC Desire HD which is only available on Vodafone. Now I have no reception while at home and even in the CBD the calls are dropping out. Vodafone offered to cancel the contract which is nice of them but does not make up for all the lost calls etc. Apart from that, I really like the phone so if I move to a new network I'd have to change the phone....

I checked 3 and although they have the same phone, they don't have the same deal so I'd have to pay more. Apart from that 3 fails over to the Telstra network so I'd end up paying roaming charges for data...

9337 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 30 Dec 2010 09:47:04 PM
Lets just say no signal for the phone at all at home for the last two weeks. Customer service and network team played tele-tennis passing the hot potato to each other refusing to acknowledge the issue. Did the SIM swap already. Still failed.

There was no ETA two weeks ago and there STILL isnt any ETA to fix the issue. Giving them another couple of days - then TIO here I go.

Cannot send texts since Nov 12th.
After repeated calls to customer fail I don't speak English as my first language centre, still no joy. Each time I have to either leave my name/number for them to call me back or be on hold for 45min to an hour. :(

Went into store, still no help. I CANNOT believe it has gone on this long with no resolution. They should know how to fix simple shit like this.

Keep getting error message SYS-Error insufficient credit. Even when I have a brand new account with $40 credit on it. I know I cannot be the only one like this.

Calling & 3G is laughable and this is in Sydney Metro area! Sorry Vodafone, Im off to Telstra when the new iPhone is out next year.

9330 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is ve Failure at 30 Dec 2010 09:27:11 PM
Visiting my parents in country Victoria for Christmas, only been with Vodafone for a month, was previously with Virgin of which I never had any problems. The majority of my SMS I tried to send didnt work, couldnt recieve and all my calls ended up dropping out. As for internet on my phone it's deplorable. Rather than waste your money making adds with that shit prick Michael Clarke you should invest in the service you are supposed to be providing. Michael Clarke and Vodafone should both be dropped for horrible performance.

Crappy reception, no more than 2 bars at any time. Frequent "No signal", very slow internet access, and more times than not internet doesn't work. Calls drop out occasionally. When I put my Optus sim card in my iPhone the reception shoots to full and stays there!

31 Dec 2010 06:41:59 AM: I had same prob, tried new sim, didn't work, but they did give it to me for free so worth a try. They wern't happy about it and told me I would have to pay if I wanted another one. Funny really as I didn't want the first replacement, just wanted one that worked.
31 Dec 2010 07:00:36 AM: Sim swaps are always free, you probably just missed the sarcasm.

9325 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No Prepaid Mobile Broadband at 30 Dec 2010 09:02:18 PM
Continuing problems trying to log onto my laptop using vodafone prepaid mobile broadband. Have rung once and spoke to 'someone' who sounded like they were overseas, and at the time my mobile broadband had just been recharged for another 12 months. 4 days of dial up speed (actually when i remember having dial up - i think it was faster)
I was told that this problem would be resolved the following day (making it 5 days with next to no service)
Now just short of a month later - I am experiencing the exact same problem. today is day 3 and I am not going to waste my time phoning them (as I dont have a spare HOUR to be on hold only to be told yeah there are problems and they will be fixed)
WHEN? OR HOW CAN I GET MY MONEY BACK FROM A PREPAID ITEM THATS BEEN PAID FOR AND DOES NOT WORK?

9324 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is It's a joke at 30 Dec 2010 08:58:52 PM
Iv been a loyal customer with vodafone now for 11 years and lately have been experiencing problems along with every other vodafone user I speak to. It forever drops out, Internet is so slow, txt messages take up to 15mins to come through sometimes. It's just very below par for a company with such high profile, UNTIL NOW.
I along with my company will all be changing to telstra early in the new year as we cannot afford to waste time waiting for vodafone to get there act together. It seems to be a one way contract with them. Good bye VODAFAIL
