Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

7376 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very poor internet connection at 28 Dec 2010 06:21:43 PM
I have been a customer of Vodafone Prepaid Mobile Broadband for more than a year now. I thought there was a problem with our rental unit that's why my internet connection always dropping out till I tried the Telstra service last week and I watched the news yesterday about Vodafone poor service. I really thought that the problem was our apartment we are living in and we will still experience the same problem whatever broadband network we use.

I bought the vodafone mobile broadband for my wife's use in her studies and to get in touch with our families abroad. The Vodafone store staff in Sunnybank where I bought it said that they have good broadband reception in Algester area where we live so there's no problem using their service. On the first month, their service was not that poor but as the days went by, it became poorer and poorer which made me think that I had problem with the rental apartment unit we are living in. Everytime my wife has uni assignment, we just go out and drive to her sister's place which is 5 minutes away from our place to use their Bigpond broadband service because we cannot rely on our Vodafone service which keeps on dropping off. Till one of my friend dropped by last week bringing with him a Telstra prepaid broadband which I tried and worked well. So I immediately bought the following day a Telstra prepaid broadband which we are now using. The pain and shame of driving to my sister-in-law's place to use their broadband and staying their till midnight or later just to finish my wife's assignment is now over. From now on, we will never use Vodafone services anymore... JB

7373 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Phone Upgrade at 28 Dec 2010 06:21:00 PM
Husband and i have been a reliable customers of Vodafone for over 10 years, On 4th Dec, We decided to upgrade our phones, went to the Vodafone store and signed up on another 2year contract, since that day i have had 3 replacements of the same phone and my husband has had 2. We had enough, After being on hold for 40+ minutes many many times, (one time over 2 hours) told customer services that we want to change handsets completely they said go back to the store, and when i get to the store they say they cant authorise that and we have to take the phones home and get the customer service centre to send out new (different) handsets, customer services said because we got them in the store we have to get them to change the handsets , am getting the major run around,... have 2 phones and cant use them, but are still getting charged for contract, said cancel the contract, keep the phones and was told i would have to pay out the contract.
The customer service centres and the stores are pathetic... left hand has no idea what right hand is doing, VERY VERY POOR FOR INTERNATIONAL COMPANY...

WHERE DO WE SIGN UP FOR THE CLASS ACTION

7372 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Failure to provide service as promised at 28 Dec 2010 06:20:26 PM
I am a disgruntled Vodafone customer. I have vodafone mobile and wireless internet connection. I have constantly had problems with the connection from being poor to no connection particularly on my internet connection. I have contacted Vodafone many times but they keep telling they have a good coverage in my area. I am paying vodafone for a service they have failed to provide. I want to get out but don't know how.

7370 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Bill Overcharge & Very Poor Customer Service at 28 Dec 2010 06:19:38 PM
After receiving an out of the ordinary phone bill for well over $300 for one month, I requested a fully itemised account from Vodafone. 4 months later, 7 phone calls, each time having to wait on hold from 30 to more than 45 minutes, I have received 5 copies of my original invoice (without the itemised call details). During my 5th phone call to Vodafone, I became frustrated, requesting to speak with either their supervisor or someone in Australia, both of which was refused. When I called the 7th time, I didn't bother explaining the problem with the CSO, but requested I be put through to the floor supervisor immediately. After fully explaining exactly what I want, the supervisor still emailed me the original invoice. I've now forwarded the issues with our Communications Ombudsman and am now waiting for contact from Vodafone. Of course, even though I've kept paying the payment plan on my mobile, they've cut off my phone service, which was poor anyway, especially once we leave Adelaide metro area. I'm so appalled at Vodafone's service and intelligence, especially considering this is my 3rd phone contract with Vodafone and I even convinced my partner to get a Vodafone mobile early 2009. Never again will I sign up with Vodafone nor will I ever recommend Vodafone to anybody again. What happened to them? Why have they outsourced their service centre to an overseas location, who can't even understand nor speak simple English!!!

Difficult to even get coverage, then there are drop outs mid conversation. I recieve text messages & voicemail messages days after they are sent, and my contacts advise they recieve my messages days after they are sent, as well. When I text to ask for an account balance I get no reply, uncanny because I am constantly getting "check service" appearing on my phone. Lucky for me I am a prepaid customer - they lost me as an internet customer earlier this year, and they will also lose me as a telephone customer as well, the service is just not good enough.

7364 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is massive fail at 28 Dec 2010 06:18:39 PM
Though by their coverage map I should have top level reception, I rarely have any at all. To the point I had to go and get a land line for my home so that I could remain contactable.
Vodafone's explanation for this was that I was inside and they couldn't account for having a roof above me.
Even if this were acceptable, I still have the same problems when I'm out in the open...

7359 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is at 28 Dec 2010 06:17:24 PM
I was a happy Three Mobile Internet customer. Vodaphone offered me a good deal to transfer to them. My troubles then started!! I activated my Vodaphone service. However, the USB modem would not connect.I went through all the headaches with Lara and the 40 minute waits for the Data Support Service for three days. One of the technical advisers finally came to the conclusion that the USB modem was faulty. This was exchanged at a local Vodaphone Sales Office. However, it still would not work. I then took my three week old computer to the supplier that I had bought it from. My operating system was Windows XP Service Pack 3. Apparently there was an "Issue" between Windows XP and the Vodaphone USB Modem. After about three days of trying to resolve this Issue, my computer supplier advised me to uninstall XP and install Windows 7. I did this at a cost of $149.00 and the Vodaphone service connected and works OK now.
28 Dec 2010 06:36:37 PM: Think you were given wrong info there. The software that runs the modem works perfectly fine under WinXP SP3, i have had no problems with it, its the OS i use, with SP3. Win7 much better than x; anyway so you have benifited but the upgrade was not necessary
1 Jan 2011 06:01:04 PM: Thanks for the reassurance that I have come out of it OK. However, I am still disappointed that I wasted many hours waiting for, and talking to about 5 different Vodaphone Data Tech Support Advisors. One even spent about 90 minutes talking me through the installation procedure, turning my Computer off and on, etc. Still, they still reached the conclusion that it was a faulty USB modem. My computer supplier had my machine for about 3 days before he gave up and conviced me to uninstall XP and change over to Win 7. This solved the problem. However, XP suited me fine, and I am now left with a pile of XP books that I have accumulated over 9 years and a Benq scanner that will not work on Win 7. Am just finding my way around Win 7. You sound as though you know a bit about this sort of stuff. To help convince me that I've ended up better off, Please let me know why you think that "Win 7 is much better that XP". Thanks for your advice so far. Have a happy and healthy 2011.

No coverage, calls dropping out, text messages arriving 50 times in a row or taking 12+ hours. Customer service does not exist, phone to call centre who are more interested in selling me an upgraded plan, then say, after 25 mins hold and 5 mins talking that they will put me through to someone who can help, after which the phone hangs up. Try online help, they WILL NOT answer, they keep sending authorisation checks which are completed but not understood or read, after several emails I get one back that says it has been 120 hours since they asked me to provide information which was supplied in each email I sent. I have left Vodafone for good and gone to Exetel. Good luck if you are with them, I hope you can get out of your contract.

I too am stuck in a contract for a phone service that I would be happy with - other than the coverage. I have become so used the the drop outs in service I just tell people to only try my mobile as a last resort. I live in a rural fringe area and all the other networks are consistantly fine.

Has anyone else ever tried complaining about the coverage? I complained on the website about a year ago and was asked so many questions about times and dates that it was ridiculous. Obviously 'all the time' and 'constantly' were not what they were looking for. They even got nasty in their reply emails. after about 4 weeks I got the response 'you are in an area of low coverage' yay. I already knew that!

Only 5 more months of my contract and I'm gone.

7353 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is vodafone is pathetic at 28 Dec 2010 06:16:22 PM
I am a nurse and rely on my mobile phone for work as sometimes I have to be on call, I never have service and if I do it drops out or it goes onto roaming! I never get my voicemails until days later and because of this I have missed out on so much work. My friends and family are constantly trying to call me but missed calls dont show up on the phone till hours later.. Call drop out is 99.9% of every call. I have called vodafone so many times and got the same response from them saying get a new phone get a new sim card!!! My response was I have a new phone and a sim card but they would still continue to say get a new sim or turn your phone off! What gets me is that if we dont pay our phone bill they disconnect our phone but why should we being paying for a service wen we r not even getting any kind of service from vodafone at all!! Aonther thing is facebook on ur phone it has been 6 weeks and still my facebook wont work, its lets you log in but then it keeps getting out of it, it wont let you see ur notifications or any profiles! customer services said 5 weeks ago that it would be fixed but still it has not. I have now called telecommunications ombudsmen about this ongoing saga with vodafone! I hate them!!!

7350 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Absolutely at 28 Dec 2010 06:15:12 PM
After switching to Vodafone in August and within 4 weeks of using their network I knew I was in trouble. I have tried to call Vodafone since end of September 2010 and have had absolutely no success. The 1555 number is Moombai and they have absolutely no idea of how to fix the problem. When I try to explain that I have no service on my phone in MANY areas of the Gold Coast they cannot relate because they don't know the areas I am trying to explain.

I have been on the phone 5 times for over one hour each and with a promise of them "escalating" my situation and a call back within 5 days. Surprise, surprise never have I received a call back. Their solution was to manually search for a network each time!!!! Another solution pull my phone apart put it back together and turn it on - "What happens?" - NOTHING!!! Use my sons phone and maybe mine will come back on in a couple of days - uuum he is with Vodafone too.

I called the Australian line of 13588 (by accident) - and they too promised to escalate my problem and a call back within 5 days. The latest "5 day turn around call" expired on Thursday 23.12.10. Absolutely, positively get back to you - GUARANTEED! Yeah right!

1555 do not call you back and they keep you on hold for a minimum of 1 hour.

I know I have lost business due to the lack of service. I am on a 2 year $99 per month plan and am only 4 months into the plan. I can't use the "unlimited" access to the internet because there is no service. I don't have enough "bars" to make a call and can only text or email.

I reported my issue with TIO last Monday 20.12.10. I also lodged a compliant through Vodafone website on Monday with the promise of a response within 5 days which expired on Friday 24.12.10

I want OUT! And I want compensation for port out charges they were supposed to cover from the previous network of $1,500 - we have 9 mobiles between my husband and my business.

7349 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very unimpressed!! at 28 Dec 2010 06:15:02 PM
I signed up to a 24mth Iphone 4 contract. Took over 5weeks for my phone will arrive (When I was advised 2x weeks).
I then suffered for the next 4weeks with bad reception, calls dropping out, Messages not going throung, unable to send mms + sms, and poor internet access.
I basicly had a pretty phine but couldnt use it.
If i wanted to make a call i had to turn the phone off then back on and call some one. I couldnt answer a call with out it echoing or hearing noises.
I was on the phone to Vodaphone almost every day for 3 weeks, with reception issues
they sent me out a replacement phone twice as they kept saying it was a phone issue.
they even told me that they were running tests/ reports and saying that coverage was fine in my area/s.
I cancelled my contract due to poor/ lack of coverage. and told that i wouldnt have to pay a disconnect fee. low and behold 3 weeks later i recieved my last bill in the mail.. and i was charged for 2x phones and the disconnect fee of ending my contract 23mths early.
NOT IMPRESSED!!!
28 Dec 2010 06:26:33 PM: Graeme Samuel, chairman of the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC), said the regulator was aware of the issues and was investigating them.
However, Mr Samuel disputed news reports from earlier this week that said customers were within their rights to break contracts with the telco. He said affected customers should first try to resolve the problem with Vodafone and then contact the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO).

on top of the phone drop outs and lack of reception, we have also been receiving sporadic phone bills - yes they arrive when they are due (of course, when they want money they do everything), but the amounts are varied considerably. Hubby and I are both on a $49 cap, which i think gives us around $310 worth to play around with, which none of us even come close to reaching and now we are getting bills that are $0 amounts, then you get a double bill and now a $500 odd bill!! What the???? Yet when you call someone, they just bum steer you onto some one else. I dont have that sort of money - i have just had twins and am not at work currently. Definately wont be going through vodafail again.

I have been with vodafone for many years and have experienced many of the problems others have mentioned (Call drop outs, late txt messages and in some cases no service). I work as a Traffic Controller and thus i recieve my jobs on a daily basis and thanks to Vodafone i sometimes miss vital calls which means no work etc. The latest thing to happen to me really got me mad thanks to Vodafone Customer Service, I was travelling home late one night on the m1 on queenslands roads when my car broke down and miles from a service station so i called Vodafail Customer Service for a number of a 24 hour towing service so i could get the car home when the smart ass lady on the phone told me to look in the yellow pages and then hung up on me ( I'm stranded on the highway, this is why i called). This lady did not care about me which is why i hope she ends up stranded on the highway, hopefully near belangalo state forest and why i will be changing telco service providers.

I had a contract with VF but I cancelled my contract and have a bill to pay out. Every month I would have large bills, and then have to spend hours on the helpline to correct them- and then pay for the helpline call. ( a few times it wasnt 1555) When i asked to cancell my contract they took it as cancell my number too, so that took a week of endles waiting to clear up. Then to exit my contract there was a $950 bill to pay - which was corrected by the ombudsmen.... but my point is that I shouldnt have to pay it out because they didnt deliver on the contract.

I believe vodahone and three are one in the same. I singed up with 3 to get a 18cent per minute no flag call service. I was also told that 3 could access the the 3G telstra network if their tower could not deliver the reception. This was a lie. I also have a telstra 3G phone that I operate as well. The service difference is chalk and cheese. I have to divert my 3 phone to the telsta mobile to get incoming coverage. I try using the 3 network for outgoing calls ususlly ending up in disgusting failure. I was in storms 2 weeks ago in Jimboomba and I was trying to ring my wife as I entered the property describing the damage My telstra phone had run out of power. I could not communicate with my wife and vowed th get even with 3 for the lies. I have a Nokia N97 with 3 and a old Nokia 9300 with telstra. The service 3 has offered is that of the dark ages. It has cost my business over 10k in sales in the last two years

I recently went to Fiji for 5 days, before leaving I checked my rates on roaming, reset my counter so I knew how long I was talking for and switched off data roaming as advised on the vodafone website and told by staff. I received a text once I landed which said to receive a call would cost $1 per minute yet advice I had was I would only be charged standard call rates, hence I elected to phone back to Australia as it would be cheaper than to receive a call. On the final day my phone had been suspended hopefully they thought it was a security breach yet the numbers they sent me in a text to fix the problem, advise them I had the phone were not working numbers. When I landed back in Brisbane I went to the Vodafone booth at the airport and he had to give me a new sim card but could not activate my phone for outgoing calls or texts. I called the following day and it was re activated but I have a bill for over $2000. $1100 in calls and the remainder in data. I have mananged to get a credit for $866.87 for some of the data roaming but they have not credited me anything back on the calls. My calculations I was on the phone for 4 hours and 30 odd mins and even being generous my calls should not of been over $500.
As for MMS, forget it my son sent some on Christmas day and I received the last one (I think) at 5.23 am this morning. This is a common problem, as is not being able to use the internet e.g. facebook and twitter are the worst on a regular basis. I talk to another Vodafone customer frequently and when he is on the M5 in Sydney and I am on the Gold Coast his phone cuts out on a major motorway.
The new wireless that is just a joke, I had it work maybe couple days on and off and now am using the old toggle again with no wireless to hook up the other computers in the house.
I have been a Vodafone customer for approx 12 years.

I ordered my new iphone 2months ago over the phone, they told me it would take 6-8 weeks to delivered because it was in such high demand - fair enough. I waited 6 weeks and still no phone, so i called them up only to be told that the address they had taken down was incorrect. Did no one think to call the customer to confirm??? If I had not called them up, I would still be sitting here waiting for my phone. So then we confirmed the delivery address and the person told me it'd be there within the next 24-48 hours. 3 days later, phone still hadn't arrived so I called them up again, this time waiting almost an hour to speak to someone only to be told that the previous guy had told me the wrong information and instead of 24-48 hours, my phone will take 2 weeks!! I've already started paying for my new phone and by the time my phone does arrive, i would've paid two installments for it already. The true test will be this week when i'm "supposed" to get a new phone.

In addition to the epic vodaFAIL with my new phone...i live within 5 kms from the sydney CBD and my vodafone internet doesn't work and I can't receive and make ANY calls from my mobile phone.

Signed up for a 2 year contract 1 month ago after being told by the vodafone sales rep there was full coverage in my area of Sydney.
Result:
I have online coverage less than 50% of the time. When i do manage to get online, i'm lucky if it'll last more than a minute.
Calls regularly drop-out.
It's not rare for me to have to use my home phone to call customer support... calling 1555 or the 1300 number on my mobile doesn't work... won't even ring. When i do use my home phone i sit on hold for 30 mins +. I've sat through the wait a couple of times now, reached a customer support employee and then had the call drop-out. Very frustrating!! The last time i called customer support the electronic voice began to break-up and sat on repeat like a broken record. FAIL!
I will give vodafone a chance to sort out this mess but if there are no improvements soon they will never have my business again!

7320 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Calls drop out, No Service at 28 Dec 2010 06:09:07 PM
I recently purchased the iPhone 4 on a plan with Vodafone. I was told that I would get service in my area that I was in, in fact assured I would. Yet when I returned to Talbot Vic I had no service. This annoyed me to no end & I was extremely upset. I tried contacting them several times from a landline phone yet to no avail was cut off all the time. I want to get out of the plan & return to Telstra as I really had no problems with them in the past, just that Crazy Johns had iPhone 4 in stock & they had a better deal om plans for calls/sms etc. Thinking about it I should have just stayed on Telstra. My calls on Vodafone drop out all the time & I cannot connect to the internet. I was even at Melbourne Airport & still couldnt get 3G service to connect to internet. Why did I change why did I not just stay with Telstra??? Now I am unhappy in a 2 year plan that I would like to cancel. Vanessa QLD

7318 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Constant drop outs on Vodafaone Wireless Broadband. at 28 Dec 2010 06:08:47 PM
Have had Vodafone Mobile Wireless Broadband for 12 Months now and when I first got it was constantly dropping out even though I live right next to Brisbane city with usually no less then 4 bar strength! However, my connection shows up Local Connection only and usually coincides with the signal going to HDSPA from 3G Network. When I explained the drop outs seemed to coincide with this the woman on the other end laughed and said HDSPA was better. Clearly, it can't be better if I can't get on line! I have not moved and since around the beginning of December it has started all over again!! Took me almost an hour of logging on and off just to check emails the other night! So tired of it and still have 12 months of contract left! Surely a contract works both ways ie if I don't pay I break the contract but if they don't provide a service THEY break a contract! I think it should be as simple as they aren't providing the service they are supposed so should be able to leave the contract now!

I am using Mobile Vodafone Broadband, but via another Company that use Vodafone lines and I have to say the Connection here is poor a lot of the time! Recently I had no data getting thru at all and rang my Company who checked out a few things to make sure I was in a Coverage area which I was and then said they would have to contact the Technical support department which turned out to be Vodafone. I was told that it might take weeks for the problem to be resolved because of the Christmas break coming up! When I strong protested they said they couldn't do anything and would ring me back in and hour which never happened, so I had to ring them again. Still nothing resolved.

Fortunately the very spotty and unreliable coverage I do get returned in the afternoon. But still the Coverage is often very poor.

I would not have signed up for this if I had know Vodafone would be so unreliable!

After watching Today Tonight I was happy to see that it wasnt just me and my boyfriend that have dramas with Vodacrap.
We live in Pacific Pines that is on the Gold Coast in a huge residential area and we dont get one bit of reception! At all! We had to install a home phone and that is an expense we didnt wish to have, but we had to install it.
Because we have no reception, when we get out of Pacific Pines and into differnt areas, I get some recpetion along with heaps of voicemails (due to my work) and then I have to pay to hear at least 5 voicemails each time I leave my house!
In addition, I work for the media and I am on my phone constantly and my phone always drops out, which then means I have to call back - costing me dearly.
I would hate to think how much I have spent.

I have been a loyal vodafone customer since 2000 and whithin the last 6 months i have had nothing but cronic pain with them. In July i upgraded to and Iphone, upgraded my plan and the next month i got a bill for $1200, including 2 different contract charges a contract cancelation charge and an excessive data charge, it took me 6 months nearly and to lodge a complaint with the TIO before i could have all but the monthly fee waved due to the incompetance of the customer service staff. They did not start my new plan when they said they would thus incurring the data charges, they did not update my account properly thus incurring the contract cancellation fee and since then i have not been able to use any data and barely make calls without it failing at home, So basically i pay $120 a month for a fone and data contract i can't use when i'm home. This is outrageous and i'm stuck with it for 18 months unless i pay out the contract/ fone finance deal so i can port to a different carrier.

I would almost vote that Vodafone is now the worst mobile provider in Australia and have the worst customer service i have ever experienced with being on hold for crazy amounts of time and honestly can anyone understand what the damn operators that "CLAIM" to be in say melbourne for example but clearly have a crazy strong totaly impossible to understand accent YEH RIGHT.

7305 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Massive Failure at 28 Dec 2010 06:05:28 PM
I could go on and on for hours about how much I HATE Vodafone. Having signed up for a Wi-fi usb & a mobile plan for my business, Vodafone promised great coverage & 5GB of data. I got to the point that I was SO frustrated with the constant call drop outs, internet disconnecting, hour + wait when calling 1555 and the fact that to take a call I needed to stand in the field outside my house - I blew up. I rang Vodafone maybe 15-20 times over 3 days, only to be hung up on 3 times, calls never returned and one "Team Leader" Jared was so unhelpful and rude, I had almost lost hope. All I wanted was OUT of the plans, and to not pay the $1500 they were asking of me "because I moved house". Apparentely, if you move house, you should check your Vodafone service first and move according to where you get service- but no one can tell you where this is written in the contract. I had it out with one woman (and I have to say I was very restrained considering I was FURIOUS) and eventually agreed on a deal to get out of both deals for a certain amount - she told me to sign up with a "better" provider and suggested Telstra (ha!) and said as soon as I registered with them, they would send the final bill. I signed up with Telstra that day. I have since received 2 normal monthly bills. The thought of calling them and sitting on hold for over an hour is too much for me right now, and I will deal with it in the New Year - all I want now is out of the contract and I'm not willing to pay at all. I hope this lawsuit goes ahead, because someone has to do something. If it's reception you're after - hit Telstra.

DOnt get reception anywhere 99% of the time. When reception is achieved it is only temporary, specially if you would like to make a call, it seems to sense phone in hand and straight away loses all reception. ive recieved messages several days after being sent, from my girlfriend sitting right next to me while i have reception. standing perfectly still balanced on one leg hand gently rubbing head (exercise needed to get enough reception to make the call) the call is broken and switching to the other leg is often required to here a short scrambled (lack of reception) sentence. I might add, I have a vodafone tower around 500 metres from my house and it is visible from my balcony, i still have no reception. vodafone has my area listed as a full reception area... dont think so. When i went to leave the network because of this bad reception somehow no other telecom network would accept me (full time employment, well payed, perfect credit, etc.) I can however rejoin vodafone.. coincidence? now that i have rejoined im getting monthly calls from telstra, optus and virgin asking me to join their networks. WTF? Fuck you vodafone

7303 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 28 Dec 2010 06:05:01 PM
I recently moved from Telstra to sign 4 new services with Vodafone.
MISTAKE!!!
Nothing works......MMS takes days to send and receive, voicemail is received 2-3 days after they have been sent and the phone drops out of 3G reception so often that my business associates can never get a hold of me and my data services are nothing short of a joke.
I predominantly use my phone at My Gravatt, 7km's from Brisbane CBD, and Main Beach, 2.5 km's from Surfers Paradise. You'd think these areas would deliver great range.....NOT!
A phone and data service in a metro area should deliver seamless service that shouldn't require any of your attention at all. No-one should have to deal with performance issues on the hour, every hour, every day. Not to mention burning hours of our time on hold to offshore call centres who's care factor doesn't even rate ......we've all got better things to worry about.
Thanks for all the headaches Vodafone!
I want out but can't seem to get anyone at the other end of the phone to grant me a cancellation of my contract. Any help from anyone on this forum would be appreciated.
There is nothing good about vodafone.
Please......get me out of this!

My experience?

Constant dropouts, people can't call me even though I have full reception, no or poor reception within inner city areas. I had better coverage & faster internet speeds in Africa!

Here's another protest method. Since you can't really boycott payment, simply divide your monthly bill by 30 and put a scheduled payment in your internet banking to transfer that amount daily. It's simple and safe to do even for those of us who don't like make formal complaints, and if enough people do it, Vodafone will get the point.

7289 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is dreadful customer service and coverage - liars! at 28 Dec 2010 06:01:53 PM
My partner and I both signed up for 24 month iphone contracts in a vodafone store at the end of 2009. We live in Beerwah, QLD and we were assured that our area would have complete 3G coverage. However this was of course not the case. We could not make phone calls or receive txt messages at all! I must have called them about 10 times to resolve the issue. The first time they said the would get back to me within 48 hours but they never did... in fact when I called back again they had no record of my issue. It was a month and a half that this was going on and in the end my partner and I SOLD our iphones after being told by vodafone that the issue was due to the antenna in the phones. (I knew this was a possibility, however I put my mums telstra sim in my iphone - completely fine, full bars) So we repalced our iphones with HTC desires and of course have little or no reception again. I called again about the issue and they said they would cancel our contracts, but we had to SEND BACK THE IPHONES! Why didnt they say that before?!?! Instead of telling us its not vodafone and to try other phones?? Anyway, we pay $80 a month for contracts with $400 caps and we dont even come close to getting our money's worth... can't even send a text message in an area that is supposed to be full 3G coverage. Vodafone, your customer service is dreadful and your coverage is even worse.

On the final day my phone had been suspended hopefully they thought it was a security breach yet the numbers they sent me in a text were not working numbers.
I have been a Vodafone customer for approx 12 years.

Thank christ i only have 4 months to run on a 2 year contract, they can jam there network where the sun don't shine. Telstra will get my business.

I was watching the today tonight story about vodaphone (VODAFAIL) and surprise surprise my wireless broadband dropped out. I am supposed to get full coverage and the most I have ever has is 40%. Vodaphone needs to pick up it's act, we pay good money for below average services.

7283 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor at 28 Dec 2010 06:00:58 PM
I have no service in my house or immediate area so cannot make or receive calls or SMS messages. Calls constantly either drop out or I get SMS messages days late and phone messages who knows when ? Sometime at 3 in the morning. This very frustrating when I pay for an unlimited plan. I also paid to unlock a handset and after10hour being put on hold promises to call that never happened the handset is still not unlocked. I have made 2 complaints in writing and have made complaints and spoken to supervisor/managers who are from another country and try but have no real understanding of what is going on.

I have been with vodafone for 10 years but will. Not renew my contract. This is just a glimpse.

7282 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is So So SO Fail at 28 Dec 2010 06:00:44 PM
I am now on my 5th blackberry storm handset... instead of just swapping out the phone for one that actually works and doesnt drive me crazy... they keep sending them away and just sending me new handsets... i have spent months of my plan with a crappy loan phone while paying through my ass for this plan!! but they are losing the most cause they have to keep sending me brand new handsets!! And now my latest handset is screwed and i can upgrade in 3 weeks in the 3 month buffer but they wont let me upgrade early... they want me to send the phone away... again and as soon as i get it back ill will be upgrading so why not let me upgrade now??
28 Dec 2010 06:04:42 PM: keep trying different stores, after my 4th Blackberry storm I went into a store and they gave me a phone of my choice, although I did have to start a new plan but I did have over 12 months left on the Blackberry plan.
28 Dec 2010 06:09:35 PM: You do realize that this is a Blackberry issue and not Vodafone....
Dont just post for the sake of posting....

Metro Brisbane area and constant drop outs or having to find out that people tried calling but saying that the phone is switched off or not in coverage area even though the phone is on and in metro areas..Trying to contact customer support doesn't work nor does getting a vodafone staff member to try either..Having unlimited calls ect is no good if you can't use it..Now with Telstra and MUCH better..

7279 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is N/A at 28 Dec 2010 06:00:26 PM
To all of the Vodafone customers who are suffering at present from failures with service, reception and lack of customer service. .
As a Vodafone employee we feel your pain too, because we are the people that get abused, harassed, threatened, spat at and so forth for something that we have no control over. It must be made clear that there has been a massive merger between two companies to produce one. There will always be some type of teething problems with such an enormous merge. We try our best day in and day out to provided the best customer service we can, though it is not appreciated that we need a website to create more issues for customers and employees and can cause harm for all affected. (we have Wikileaks for that) Are the comments being left on this site sensible and ethical?? not likely, do most of the consumers know what it takes to run a telecommunication network?? not likely, do most of the consumers posting comments on this site give them the right to abuse employees?? It seems that if everyone had there brand new Iphone 4 and could make a call from 1000 feet underground then there wouldn't be these ridiculous comments being made on how to scam your way out of a contract from "experienced people" in the industry or childish comments of how a company is trying to scam each and everyone of you for everything that you are worth. Vodafone has been around for over 25 years and will be around for many more years to come, grow up and realize that technology will always have issues!!
28 Dec 2010 06:07:00 PM: Ethics? Yo have the gall to talk about ethics? I think Tha ACCC should review your ethics. I spit at you and all you r highly paid colleagues who just don't appear to give a fuck about what you represent!. You are a disgusting piece of SHIT.

28 Dec 2010 06:13:49 PM: reply to the 7:00PM post....
Dude listen to urself.... how do you expect people to respect you when you talk like that!
im with the employees not to care about people that talk like you mate ;)
28 Dec 2010 06:16:49 PM: Hahaha I too work for Vodafone and if you ever came into my store id have security throw your bogan ass out
28 Dec 2010 06:18:03 PM: yeah teething problems amd meanwhilt it's costing us ,the customers in the hip pocket while vodafone sort out it's "teething problems".
28 Dec 2010 06:20:13 PM: I stand corrected. idiotic and unethical in your reply just goes to show the type of people we need to deal with!! I am sure this site will be down soon :)
28 Dec 2010 06:23:32 PM: its crazy how rude some of these people are... plus many posts are regarding handset problems.... DUDE VODAFONE DOESN'T MAKE THE PHONES!
2 Jan 2011 02:19:47 PM: vodafone and threes merger has nothing to do with coverage. IF you paid attention in training for when the vodafone and three merger happened it wouldn't affect the coverage. three is still in contract with telstra and they still roam.

I have new phone too, guy who sold me it didn't know what he was doing, I received bills from my old company and vodafone, charging me as if i was with them. Then get that sorted after 5 months of hardwork on my part. Then i txt and my family and friends they may get 1-2 days later, or at some ungodly hour of the night(when i sent it that morning . Sitting at home now, my husband who is on different provider has full bars, I have 1 maybe 2 and drops out.And a little while back didn't have coverage for 24 hours or so, got an email saying sorry from vodafone. My daughter went to recharge her phone and they told her to change to talk and txt, then next time she goes to charge she told to has to change to another thing!!!?

7275 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Crap Customer Service at 28 Dec 2010 05:59:55 PM
I purrchased a Pocket WiFi prepaid pack on the 24th of November, what a mistake...

It all started when I received a post paid pack the next day, they stole my $99 immediately, I called and they couldnt help, they said I was sent the wrong pack, and after atleast 10 x 1 Hour phone calls, I was told there was nothing that could be done becuase I was sent the wrong pack and wasnt supplied a phone number, so therefore wasnt eligible for a refund, I have called atleast anothe 10 times since, each call taking between 1 and 1.5 hours, I am sure they have some kind of mechanism that only puts you on que after an hour, same old story, having to explain my situation each time because there are no notes on the system, then I am told to send an email I do, then get one back, I have sent 8 since, telling me the only department that can help is customer servie by phone, then I call and they tell me there are no notes and why am I so upset if I havent called before and they need a chance to sort it out, yeh, 25 phone calls, over an hour each and 8 emails, why didnt I do something about it...
basically, I have paid $99 for a modem I cannot use and am not entitled to a refund, because Vodafone didnt send me a number to register, their fault, yet I must suffer...

7274 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is A Let Down at 28 Dec 2010 05:59:52 PM
My husband and myself have been with vodafone for seven years and have never had any dramas until the last probably 6 months. I upgraded to an iphone 3gs about 6months ago and after about 2 months of having it i started to have trouble sending messages and making calls so i went into my local vodafone store to make sure it wasnt the phone itself and they proceeded to tell me it was their network as they werent expecting the iphones to take off and there was too many people on there network and it was in the process of being up graded, well im still witing for that upgrade to be completed as i am now experiencing more and more problems. I can never get a hold ofmy husband (who is with vodafone) i cant get on facebook or my net banking which is a bnig pain in the a$$. I am ready to leave vodafone if this isnt fixed
