26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

5342 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Terrible at 27 Dec 2010 09:41:38 PM
I recently switched to vodafone from optus because they had a good deal on one of the phone model which i was after. Within weeks i realised i made a very big blunder by choosing that awful network. My phone sows that there is no network coverage in most of places like my home (which is really annoying), in my suburb (In Point cook) and even in shopping centre. Signal strength is not even low i would say but is zero. Tried calling customer service and waited for hours and hours but ended only in vain. In whole, whenever i am in need of phone all i have got is only a mobile with no network coverage. Damn vodafone.

5341 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Bloody hopeless at 27 Dec 2010 09:41:36 PM
I have a litany of complaints about the service and the network (or lack there of)

1. I regularily get random call dropouts
2. I sometimes get "the number you have called has been disconected" Interesting considering that usually when I call again, I get through, or get a busy signal or get nothing at all. I have even called my own mobile from my work mobile and got that message.
3. Friends complain that they are unable to call me for days.
4. Often I am waiting for a connection after dialing a number, but when I look at the phone screen, the call has been terminated.

I know it is not my phone - I have swapped my SIM with my work blackberry and get the same issues. I swap it with my old Nokia, same issues.

I work for one of the major telcos, (not vodafone), and can confirm it is indeed a network issue. Probably overload from excess data traffic. ie.. The network has not been properly scaled up.

We signed with vodafone about 3yrs ago for mobile usb internet. Our first contract modem didnt work after 12 months which was not within our 12month warrenty so to have internet we were adviced to resign to get a new modem otherwise there was nothing else they could do. so we did now with the next modem we have had to get a new one on warrenty because it was not working either. we got the new modem about 1 week ago now it is still doing the same thing it will connect then will let u browse but then all of a sudden will drop out and we have no coverage so have to disconnect and reconnect for it to work. it is sooooooooooooooo stupid i hate it we pay to use it and it doesnt work!!! every night for as long as i can remember now i will have to connect and reconnect about 3-5 to actually use my internet, some times it doesnt even let me connect it wont give me the option. we live in mandurah and we only get 2 bars of reception and thats not even 3G its crazy!! y should we have to pay for something and not be able to use it. we have a contract for INTERNET USE and we CAN NOT USE IT!!! how is that right??? we will NEVA resign with them again....

5339 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is an epic FAIL!! at 27 Dec 2010 09:41:17 PM
I could not call the free call vodafone number from my mobile for about one month. i was actually calling to advise them i had not been sent any of my bills for the previous month..in the mean time Vodafone had put me in debt collections for not paying the bills i did not recieve...i went to a brisbane city store to talk face to face with someone about getting this fixed up and whole process took over one hour?...a few days later my mobile phone switched itself off and i couldnt turn it back on. i had to call Vodaphone from my partners mobile to ask them what was going on? and why i was having technical difficulties with a practically brand new phone?..to get on to an operator took approx 30 mins...maybe minor issues in comparison to other people..but im sorry in this day and technological age, its just not good enough and i expect so much more...

5338 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is unreliable at 27 Dec 2010 09:41:14 PM
I purchased a "premium " number from voidafone, signed a contract only to find my "premium" number did not work. It took eight weeks for voidafone to "fix" the problem.During those eight weeks I spent many valuable hours on hold, and on most days I was assured the problem would fixed the next day.
Eventually I ended up dealing with voidafones national manager for portability. She did get the number up and running eventually. For most of those eight weeks I never received any calls or sms messages. Voidafone was unable to retrieve any of those sms messages or tell me who had tried to call.
The most damage was done when clients rang and could not be diverted to voicemail, instead they got a voidafone message giving many of them the impression my fone was disconnected, which then led them to assume it was for non payment.
I have had ongoing problems, but not as severe.Voidafones manager for portability refused my request to release me from my contract.
My business lost about $50000 last year.
As a hard working battler who pays his rent on time every week, as well as all our other bills,I feel voidafone needs to be taken to task, especially since they denied alot of these problems which are out in the open now
28 Dec 2010 06:06:41 AM: incomepance with a capital I
28 Dec 2010 06:12:37 AM: incompetance?
30 Dec 2010 04:15:44 PM: That how we spell, keep up the good work.
30 Dec 2010 10:42:21 PM: voidafone? first if your going to have a whinge about a company you have to atleast spell it right
31 Dec 2010 07:28:37 AM: If you are that slow you cannot see the pun he makes with the "Voidafone" you shouldnt be using a computer.
31 Dec 2010 01:46:24 PM: Hahaha, the person that posted at 12:42:21pm is an idiot haha. FAIL to him.
1 Jan 2011 07:09:38 AM: Can't spell? I think I can.Are you from a non english speaking background and employed by Voidafone? With my limited year 10 school education (Ballina High), and not looking at a dictionary, my understanding is that void can mean to negate or cancel, or it could also mean a gap or a hole.
As for your spelling, your means belonging to you, did you perhaps mean to type ..."if you are", or did you mean to type ..."if you're"??
I feel my complaint is justified and not a whinge. Eight weeks to fix the problem, not good enough, and it was only after Voidafone's
engineers couldn't fix the problem, and the manager for portability tried to offer me other numbers, and I lost it with her , and demanded she look into the history of the number, which she did,I then asked if the number had ever worked, then she realised that the number was previously owned by a big company and not set up to receive calls. I assume possibly a tv channel for competitions (eg if you know the answer text 'yes"to 0404......."
It only took aprox 2 more weeks to fix the problem.

1 Jan 2011 11:38:06 AM: For anyone interested in the real issues at stake, I went on Vodafones site, read what Cormack Hodginson (director of customer service and experience) had to say, and posted a reply requesting he check out this site with this ref (5338). I also requested he liase with vhf manager for portability. She knows my story too well. I have emailed her re requesting release from 2 contracts. I got an out of office reply from her, stating she will be back jan4. No reply from Cormack as yet.
I am curious as to what sort of replies I may or may not receive.
1 Jan 2011 01:51:55 PM: we are really glad to know about the school u studied at and about ur Thorough english knowledge :P..whats left now is that u can get a masters degree in english from a good university :P :D
1 Jan 2011 04:03:56 PM: Perhaps you guys at vodafail should be doing the studying; six weeks and the vodafail engineers couldnt work out that my number wasn't set up to receive calls!!! It took me and my year ten education to ask about the history of the number before you guys actually did anything constructive. happy with my level of education, dont need phd, besides, too busy running a business that reliabley provides the services that we contract to do.If we were to fail to deliver we would'nt be in business and we certainly wouldnt be charging our clients for our failures.
1 Jan 2011 05:14:43 PM: in that case welcome to vodafail...its indeed astonishing that u after ur ten years of education expected otherwise from vodafail...i wonder what u reckon from the name VODAFAIL in the first place :P
1 Jan 2011 06:53:08 PM: Opinions are like arseholes, everyones got one, seems u choose(or get paid$6/day) to peddle someone elses.Good job mate.
Issues are pretty staight forward, Vodafone has failed to provide services for which they have been paid to provide, a lot of people have been severely inconvenienced, some outright ripped off, and others like myself have been severely inconvenienced and have had our livelihoods impacted upon due to a variety of failures and blunders.
1 Jan 2011 07:21:15 PM: :P :D you are lame,Good luck with your career peddling
2 Jan 2011 02:07:41 AM: lol for the person who is complaining about the "voidafone"
umm its void a fone *cough* get it??? VOID A FONE
VODAPHONE = VOIDAFONE
do you see why he has said that.... your as idiotic as voidafone
2 Jan 2011 07:23:12 AM: gee feel for you. as a non business user, i can bear the pain.......and trust me I have. But as a business, vodafone should be made responsible for your losses somehow! a contract is between 2 parties, the payer and the party delivering. If only one party is satisfying their half of the deal and the other party is neglecting their part, they should be made acountable for your losses. I wonder what would happen if you took them to court over lost earnings and won the case? Do you think they would get their 'a' into 'g' and do something about it? for years their have been alot of services neglecting their part of contracts and we the stupid public have just put up with it. this site should put up a class action for people in your shoes to take these monkeys to court. I would participate in payments as I believe its all about the principle of the matter. keep battling and keep us posted!
2 Jan 2011 07:57:31 AM: Thanx for the support, but not so much about public being stupid, but rather the big companies wearing the consumer down and counting on us not being able to sustain protracted disputes.
2 Jan 2011 01:59:15 PM: I want to start a website where we can complain about the incorrect use of "your". CONTRACTIONS and how to use them. yourfail.
Lesson 1: YOUR = possessive YOU OWN IT, not short for you are, eg. your car, your hair, your education, your ignorance......
Lesson 2: YOU'RE IS SHORT FOR..wait for it "YOU ARE", eg. you're retarded, you're a dickhead, you're the one complaining, you're lame, you're as idiotic as voidafone, you're having a whinge, get it! like "you are" having a whinge. So it's (it is) you're (you are) having a whinge.
Amazing isn't it?
Here endeth the lesson.
2 Jan 2011 02:11:18 PM: you must be a women
2 Jan 2011 04:04:54 PM: what about a lesson running network ?
2 Jan 2011 07:34:29 PM: Seems someone is making a concerted effort to take the attention away from the issues at stake:
*Vodafone sold a number that didnt work
*Vodafone either fumbled around or did nothing for 6 weeks while someones business deteriorated
*It took someone without any telecomunications experience to actually think that perhaps someone should look at the history of that number, i.e. has it ever worked?
*then, and only then did vodafone begin doing the repairs, which still took another 2 weeks.
*How is it possible vodafone couldnt even set up a temporary diversion so at least clients would get some sort of voicemail message?
*Why would you just let someones clients get a message giving the impression the fone is disconnected?
*Wouldnt it have been appropriate to waive the contract?
4 Jan 2011 10:00:54 AM: The woman at 3:59pm is either a old english teacher or a pot head for being able to correct grammer and take it so passionality
4 Jan 2011 03:55:20 PM: Vodafone are taking this very seriously, got an email from one of the managers, they have given me a credit for $24.20c!
4 Jan 2011 04:10:41 PM: Wow! O.o
Don't spend it all at once!! I'm sure that hurt them too, what with the thousands of dollars a day they make...
4 Jan 2011 06:54:48 PM: Oh and they want me to keep a log of times, dates, locations etc etc.
I dont have the time for that, shouldnt they be paying people to do an audit of their failing system?
I have enough of my own work to do, I dont particularly want to be doing theirs as well.
4 Jan 2011 07:04:56 PM: SUCCESS AT LAST FOR VODAFONE
This is no longer at the top of the page
4 Jan 2011 07:30:53 PM: MIGHT IS RIGHT!!!
4 Jan 2011 09:24:01 PM: i just watched buried and i thought about something.... if ryan renyolds was with voda in that movie... he wouldve been so terribly screwed.
4 Jan 2011 09:30:18 PM: Thanx for that, BILL COLLINS
5 Jan 2011 06:35:13 PM: stab stab stab, I spit on vodafone.
6 Jan 2011 07:25:56 PM: Waited on hold for a total of 4 hours and 52 minutes today and still didn't even get to speak to an operator. First call was 2 hours and second was 2 hours and 52 minutes. Vodafone pay me compensation payments because their calls keep dropping out with full service in my area and they wont fix the tower. I have a hundred other stories like this and they all end badly. Shame on you Vodafone!!!!!!!!
6 Jan 2011 08:09:42 PM: 09:25:26 Does not pertain to above post
7 Jan 2011 08:58:08 AM: lol :D :P
7 Jan 2011 02:23:55 PM: I seriously think Vodafone should compensate you for business lost, its hard out there with the GFC and then you have a large multinational corporation making life miserable and harder for simple hardworking Australians.
7 Jan 2011 05:20:15 PM: I have had email correspondence with Vodaphone and as much as I, like everyone else, would like some resolution, I cant assume that will happen soon. I may be proved wrong. At the moment I am being told everything is fixed and to report any issues so they can get their tecs to look at it.
If I port my numbers without permission I am in breach of the (worthless) contract. (wouldnt you think a contract would protect both parties?)
At this point I think the safest thing to do is get a Telstra pre paid and have my calls diverted untill this is resolved or contracts expire (whichever comes first).
Despite their ascertion that the network is fine now, I still have droputs and innability to dial out at times. They still want me to keep logs of all my calls . I guess I need to make the time to lodge a complaint with theTIO
7 Jan 2011 08:12:12 PM: Just lodged complaint with TIO. It was so bloody easy, just clicked on the link to TIO website, filled it out in 5 mins
8 Jan 2011 10:14:15 AM: congrats. hope that solves ur issues :P :D lol
8 Jan 2011 03:30:32 PM: i think people here are coming on replying to this that actually work for vodafone! of coarse some people are happy with the service and have not had a problem but i have had plenty from wrong charges (for an iphone when my phone is free charge not $18 per month)to arrogant and stupid call centre opperators. the coverage is crap which i can handle because of infinite plan but will never sign up to vodafone again. from one of their own sales reps that my son sold a car to "vodafone are crap and thats why I have two phones one for work from voda which is free and another from telstra for when I want good service and reception!" straight from the horses mouth so to speak. one thing people haven't mentioned is why they keep playing tennis and switching you from section to section to solve a problem. just been on wait for 2 hours when the customer service said he'll put me thru straight away and i won't have to wait! must be big problems if i'm the next person in the queand still waiting 2 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12 Jan 2011 07:31:31 PM: Was contacted by Vodafone resolutions team, my wife and I have been released from our contracts. At this point in time they are not prepared to refund us any of the money we have paid for their failed (and continuing to fail) system. Nor are they prepared to pay us any compensation.
13 Jan 2011 08:14:34 PM: Well as a long term customer service enthusiast and a advocate for individualS, the staff member has the option to resign if he believes that the company is not worth working for. SO KEEP HAMMERING THE RETAIL STAFF AND THE IDIOTS WHO CANT HELP YOU, WHEN THE PUBLIC CAN INDIRECTLY FORCE THE RESIGNATION OF STAFF AS TOO STRESSFUL THEN WE ARE MAKE STEPS FORWARD WITH LARGE CORPORATE COMPANIES. TUSHAR
15 Jan 2011 12:50:30 PM: Tushar, you are a typical bully and people like you deserve all the bad things in life!!! I hope you get it. This is not the way true Australians think or speak.
15 Jan 2011 03:55:28 PM: Agree with above except he is also a fool, his comments are not pertanant to the original post. Tusher, go back to where you came from( if they let you back in)
21 Jan 2011 11:08:01 AM: Tushar thats very un-australian
22 Jan 2011 04:01:15 PM: As the person who posted the original post, words cant convey my relief having signed up with the big T.I dont have rose tinted glasses on and I know all telcos have their pitfalls, but knowing that the network has the necessary infrastructure to cope with the demand, and the wide coverage is very reassuring.
Lets see how I go with getting compensation from these mongrels for their incompetance.

I an constantly plagued with the message Network Lost You selected cellular is no longer available please select another "yer right". I went into one of the shops and they said because the 3G is multitasking if you have too many apps open this upsets the signal. I want to exit the plan but because I have 10 months to go it will cost me $690 to do so, I have just emailed "them" to see if I can get out early so I will see what happens.

5331 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is culpably negligent at 27 Dec 2010 09:35:05 PM
For some time I've experienced constant dropouts, poor coverage even in a city environment (forget breaking down on a road and needing assistance!). More recently my setting were mysteriously changed so that I get no calls (straight to voicemail), no notification or record of missed calls or voice messages left, messages received up to 24 hours after being sent... and so on. Assistance was great at one shop where he fixed the settings and checked it... guess what.. gone again then 24 hours later some messages come through. I potentially missed out on work and replying to people to buy the house I currently rent. I get charged for having voicemail and accessing it even though I can't get the calls... and now I will have bigger charge because they lost the setting on my 'best mate' rate. No wonder all my friends have left vodafone.. and I'm next!!

5330 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is a steaming bucket of piss at 27 Dec 2010 09:35:01 PM
I dumped my Vodafone contract because I thought the network didnt exist! I genuinely thought I had been scammed, is their network plugged in? I couldnt find one. Every contractor that comes to my house says 'I bet theres no reception here'. When I ask them why, they all say theyre on Vodafone! Their help line doesnt work, their network doesnt work and their staff don't seem to be too bothered about whether it works. And I bet they dont have Vodafones.

Sue them, fine them and then kick them out of the country. Therye affecting Australia's image. I told a friend overseas about this and they said Australia is seen as a backwater and a bit of a joke in business circles, because of poor communications and general flakey infrastructure. How do they get that impression? VODAFONE!!!

5329 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Greedy Fail at 27 Dec 2010 09:34:59 PM
Have been a VF customer (prepaid)for 7yrs, moved to post paid(contract) and have poor quality of service by means of extended wait times of each call to VF (45+mins) which is a cost to me.

specific issues:
1. Poor reception in areas that are advertised by VF as standard coverage.
further resulting in sporadic loss of signal and no network coverage.
recently had death in family and I could not reliably contact or be contacted by members of family and friends due to poor network issues, even when VF has advertised on their coverage maps that the area has standard coverage.

2. over 3 hours down time trying to contact staff at VF to resolve issues.
3. upon receiving my contracted handset, there was no documentation about the contract, I was unable to use the phone for many days even though it was reported on the box the sim was in that it was already activated. rang the TIO after spending many days trying to contact VF, it took 1week for VF to contact me.

4. Billing anomalies such as some service I have never requested.

I want to drop VF as my carrier and may do so, through due legal process as i think they have voided their contract of service to me with false advertisement on network coverage.

It is greed that fuels VF machine of industry, such a shame that the course of events such as AU government selling of tel$tra forces some citizens out of necessity (pure cost factor) to do business with Telco not australian.

Moved from optus to vodafone, BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!!!!!!!! Reception is really poor. Spent way too much time on hold with these pirates and have got absolutely nowhere. They won't reply to emails and won't help at all. They reckon they need to investigate the reception in my area(ipswich, QLD) but i think they'll say it's all good and they'll dodge having to do anything. I am embarassed to say i have 2 phones and internet with them, i'm trying to get all 3 cancelled so i can go elsewhere. Hopes are low.
27 Dec 2010 09:41:40 PM: I feel your pain. They TESTED/INVESTIGATED the reception in my area, came back with "oh, we can't see any problem here. can you please go to areas half an hour away from your place, to make sure it's not your USB broadband problem?". Guess what, it WAS their network problem. Don't bother helping them with their "investigation", it will only lead to more pains. Just cancel & go somewhere else if you can.
28 Dec 2010 12:57:19 AM: I'm an Idependent ACN Representative,I understand how everyone are totally dissatisfied with the Vodafone phone, internet and customer service qualities. Our ACN customer services are incredible. You can reach them less than 10 mins pratically everytime. They are fast and effiecient and never transfer your call unlike Telstra or Optus as I heard, If you want to know more about us, contact me in my email at cengiz@acnrep.com I loves to turn UNHAPPY customer to HAPPY customer.

5326 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely at 27 Dec 2010 09:34:09 PM
I thought I was going mad or there was just a problem with my own phone. I put up with this for about 2 months before finally deciding to call Vodafail. They actually allowed me to break my existing contract about 6 months too early without charge (what a miracle!) and get a free upgrade from my iPhone 3GS to an iPhone 4.

However, this did not solve the problem at all and I really started to think there must be a general problem for everyone. This was confirmed when I saw an article on smh.com.au (Sydney Morning Herald online) and I knew I was not alone and there were many other very unhappy customers suffering too.

Another further month has passed with all these extremely frustrating problems, and miraculously today (Monday 27th) it seems the problem (at least in my local area here) has finally been resolved! (yet to be fully confirmed though - but so far looks much better).

What a nightmare the past few months have been though! So many dropped calls, signal problems, texts and MMS messages taking ages to be delivered or received, terrible internet connections with constant dropouts etc etc.

Glad at least the problem seems to be over (around here anyway), but Vodafail needs to be held to account for such an horrific problem for so long! Bring on the Class Action!

Signed,

Very Angry Customer.

After moving across from the terrible customer service I'd been having from Telstra, I looked forward to the 'exceptional coverage' and great customer service promised to me by Vodafone. Couldn't be further from the truth! Between no signal 3km from the city, countless calls dropping out (and having to incur charges to call them back!), voicemail arriving days after it was first left, intermittent signal (often only 1 bar on my iphone in the middle of the city) and waiting 40 minutes on hold to call vodafone technical support and giving up. How the heck am I meant to rectify the issue if their staff are out of reach? The game's over Vodafone, how about you meet me halway and actually PROVIDE ME THE SERVICE YOU KEEP SLUGGING ME FOR EACH MONTH????

5324 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor at 27 Dec 2010 09:33:37 PM
I am a departmental head in a regional hospital in NSW. On a plan with Vodaphone with a Samsung SGH F480-V phone. I'm on-call one week in five but the reception is so poor at my home that on occasions I have to go 50 metres up the street and stand in the road to take and make calls without the signal dropping out. After having to do this in the rain one weekend I called Vodaphone to discuss changing the phone as a first step to see if that would make a difference. Even though I work in a 'mission critical' healthcare position and the ability to call me 24/7 during the on-call week, there was no assistance whatsoever from the company. I would have to break my contract, pay the exit fees etc etc. The hospital provided me with a long distance pager as an alternative and now I'm just waiting out the last few months of my contract to be able to jump to Telstra, and it can't come soon enough!

5319 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is utter failure at 27 Dec 2010 09:32:08 PM
Major trouble with lack of data reception using USB mobile broadband modem and "attempting" to access the web while being in the middle of the CBD in adelaide. Trouble started within 1 month. Had to replace modems. Problems cropped up in another one month with the new modem and took about 6 weeks of nearly daily calls to the service centre with lame and non-concrete promises with no time frames for actions (not to mention the 30 min wait time before you can talk to anyone). After much painful interaction with the junior call centre staff finally got to the managers and got the connection disconnected. Lost one months' payment; luckily did not have to pay the early termination fee. But 10 months later got a call from a third party debt collecting agency asking me to pay up the whole money due for the supposedly 2 year contract. Absolutely blood boiling and painful.

I got rid of the landline and signed up for a 24-month contract. This would normally be seen as a pragmatic move and follows the trend...but because I signed up with vodafone I've now realised it was a very bad decision. Calling out and/or receiving calls when at home is like rolling the dice. Sometimes I exist, most times I don't. If Vodafone had been more transparent with their problems and shortcomings, I would've signed up with someone else.

My calls drop out and I find it difficult to download emails. It is very frustrating especially as it happens mostly at home. My husband is connected to 3 and gets a great reception. I would not be connected to Vodafone if it wasn't the only network currently offered by my employer. With 4,500 employees there is a giant move from everyone to pursuade our employer to move providers. It can't come fast enough. It is very frustrating to have such great technology and not have it performing at its best.

As my husband is a Postie I always want him to have access to a mobile phone for emergencies & alike. He was 'sucked into' purchasing a fancy new mobile with Vodafone & the reception was total rubbish. I was texting him whist sitting in bed next to him & he would recieve the notification the next day. I also needed to contact him urgently about a serious medical issue & he couldn't be reached due to lack of reception. We were disgusted at the way we were treated from the Vodafone staff both at the Call Centre & in the shopping centres. In the end, we paid heaps to get out of his contract & straight away bought a new plan with a competitor. Since then, no problems at all!!!

5308 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 100% fail at 27 Dec 2010 09:29:29 PM
I was on vodafone for years, multiple dropouts. Couldn't have a phone conversation longer than a couple of minutes without it dropping out. Very embarrassing when you are applying for jobs. Msgs came through days later and calls often wouldn't even come through.
After multiple calls to ask them to fix something simple (that of course they claimed wasn't their fault) I went to 3 mobile.
3 were great, not a problem...until a couple of months ago when vodafone took over. now calls wont connect, phone lines drop out, reception goes from full to nothing without even moving spots causing the phone to drop out. full reception, open the internet and nope its gone again.
The other day my phone claimed to have full reception, yet a call didn't come through because of no reception.
I didn't move to 3 to deal with vodafone shit again.
My contract is up in 2 weeks, and if there is no improvement or explanation from vodafone by then, then Im out. I hope they finally see how bad they have got. Stop pumping your money into advertising and start looking after the customers you already have, because at this rate there wont be many of them left.

5307 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is poor coverage at 27 Dec 2010 09:29:28 PM
I live in the CBD (melbourne) and have half strength signal most of the time, with daily drop-outs, and voice delays...having alot of missed txt messages or receiving a sms up to 3 hours later, I decided to test the service.. sitting in the same room with another vodafone user, we txted to see how long the sms would take to arrive... it took on average 7 minutes with one turning up the following day...what the F ?????? their service has only got worse since merging with 3... I have a 3 mobile broadband service, which is the biggest rip-off, never reaches the speeds its advertised to be able to do...more like dial up speeds most of the time, also they have a trick where they tell you that your data allowance has been used up, and to purchase more, I log in my user account to view how much data I have left (as I do often) but mysteriously that service doesn't show up, so believing im out off data, I buy more, once bought, my user account updates showing me that I have more data than I just bought,(sometime up to 750MB extra) meaning I was never out of data in the first place... tricking me into buy more. I even had this happen a few hours after buying 2Gb of data, I hadn't even used the internet within that time, customer service keeps telling me that there is no problems with their service, and that I can always view how much data I have left via my user account online ... who are they kidding. vodafone and 3 (both being the same network) will never have my business again. off to Telstra I go !!!!!!!!!!!!!1

As a uni student i spend a crap load of time on campus, going to classes, library etc, unfortunately the whole time i'm at uni, i have little to no coverage on my phone at all. The only way i can get any coverage is to walk out into the wilderness (yes i'm at Griffith @ Nathan) & wave my phone around in the air like a buffoon. Needless to say the moment i get a signal by the time i've pressed call & put the phone to my ear the signal is gone. I wish i was told when i signed up for my 24 month plan something like "Hey, i know we ask for less ID to sign up on a plan & our plans are pretty cheap, but just between you & me, our coverage is shit, yeah, real shit." Something like that would have been nice. Luckily my plan runs out in 4 months, 20 months of minimal network coverage (even in my own home & i live in a very metro area!) i'm pretty fed up.

We were told by the sales lady our suburb had Vodafone coverage. As soon as we got home...NO SERVICE at all unless we walk a few metres up the street. We get minimal coverage at work and minimal coverage in certain areas near where we live. I have tried complaining a couple of times...not only am I made to wait along time...the buck is passed to 3 different people all of whom I cannot understand. The first time I was told they were doing maintainance in our area and the coverage should be fine in 3 days but after 3 days still no service. The last time I called them I wanted to cancel our 2 year contract (my partner and I both have Iphones)explaining that both our phones have no coverage at all at home but they said it might be a faulty phone and sent an email with instructions as to what might be wrong with the phone and how to fix it. I didnt understand the instructions and havent bothered calling them back as I have no desire to speak with a person I do not understand so I keep putting it off!!! We have learned to live with no service at home only due to the fact that I can send my partner a message whilst he is at work on facebook. But as we live in a high risk fire danger area due to excessive trees, we experiance blackouts regularly and if there was a fire near us we would then lose all forms of communication with anyone. Or just a simple blackout means if there is an emergancy at home there is no communication for us at all. In this day and age it is simply NOT ON!!!My partner has alot to say about Vodafone himself but he wont be so polite about it!!!

5291 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Massive fail! at 27 Dec 2010 09:23:23 PM
For the last few months I have had nothing but headaches with Vodafone..

Where do I begin?

Constant call fail.. I can be trying to make a phone call and it can take me up to 10-15 attempts to actually make a call

Phone drop outs.. Most annoying when I have been on hold to Vodafone for 45 minutes and then it drops out.. Then I have to battle Lara again..

Text messages not going through.. I can send a picture message at 3pm in the afternoon and it will get delivered at 3am the next morning.. Friends think I cant sleep!

Voicemail messages.. No missed calls then a week later I get a massive back log of voicemails messages.. Great when you boss is leaving messages on your phone and I ignore them..

The person you have called can not be reached.. my mother inlaw actually called my phone (which had full service) and it said I wasnt available!

Icing on the cake is when they put call barring on my phone and said I hadnt paid my last 2 bills.. I had paid the 2 bills and they had a glitch in the system which meant the payments didnt get put with the bill paid..

After spending at least 6 hrs on the phone to Vodafone.. They said it was my iphones problem, not them! After seeing todays story... I am not the only one.

They should be gving us credits on out bills!

Grrrr!

Forget about the reception or call drops or for that matter nething. The customer service people of Vodafone even abuse u. I no longer live in sydney however Vodafone is a worldwide company so it seems to be obvious that they do teach their employees about basic ethics of being on a Phone with a customer. Fortunately i recorded the entire conversation while i was being abused and when i called back again to speak to a manager i was repeatedly disconnected. After several attempts i was finally able to talk to some1, and xpressed my concern to which i was promised a call bak by a manager, which still has'nt happened in the last 2weeks. Adding to my dismay they have now disconnected my Fone number which i have been using for the last 12years.

Contractual obligations not met by Vodafone themselves, poor reception in some areas where Vodafone claims good coverage after two service checks/requests - blamed my phone which should have out performed similar models at the time.

Late SMS's.

VERY DIFFICULT to stop or make changes to your contract, but it's OK for Vodafone to double-charge, make accounting and billing errors and threaten you with legal action when you protest their incompetence. Sales staff are lying assholes, they promise you various things/services/rebates but they do not materialise after a contract has begun.

Very expensive calls for the quality of service you get.

Had the same rubbish in the UK and in Holland too, never again. Vodafone is yet another (globally) shit company to deal with.

the plan im on is supposed to have unlimited texts, however almost 100% of the time they fail to send, and you have too switch your phone and off and back on just for it to barely work for maybe another 5 minutes. Cant even remember the mobile internet worked.

Also outgoing calls and incoming calls are complete shit. Cant make any outgoing calls, and ive tryed calling my own number a few times just to test, which goes straight to voicemail. even though the my phones on!! worst of all cant even call voicemail to check these either.

Tryed calling them a few times, and after about an hour and a half of waiting. I actually got a person!! who promptly told me that she needed to transfer me too another department. however by other department, she transferred me back to the general inquiry number to wait in line for another 2 hours...
Phone died before i even got to speak to anyone.

i am in newcastle .. my messages can take 3 hours to be recieved, sometimes they can even just vanish, 3g works one minute the drops out, then comes back again without moving, picture messages are nearly impossibe, if i try 10 times one might get thru. voicemail can take days to come thru also. Been on going like this for nearly 3 months.
Tried calling vodafone several times. waited 40 min and had to hang up. Finally got someone to call me back. Total waste of time because i couldnt understand them. They put me thru to technical department and it took another 40 min so had to hang up again. Tried again another day and someone called me back. They kept trying to blame my phone and wanted me to keep trying to change my settings. They couldnt understand that it works perfect one minute then not the next so clearly the settings on the phone are ok and it is a network issue.
Nothing has changed since the settings were changed but there is no way i have hours to spare to try calling back to complain when they wont do anything about it anyway. so so so so bloody frustrating.
I also emailed my complaint.. what a joke that was. they emailed back about 3 times over a 3 week period asking me to confirm my details so they could continue the complaint. What a pathetic systems. Sorry to say it but my contract is up in 4 months and i am out of voda for good. Even if the network service is fixed i am not going to deal with a company that i cannot contact if i have an issue.

Came over to vfone from telstra. Was talked into buying a Nokia N97 over an iphone and a more expensive Nokia, that was the first problem. Little did i know at the time the N97 was and still is one of the most repaired, replaced and returned phones. It was a lemon from new. After trying to return it at Epping and South Morang vfone stores (as they said any problem with the phone within the first 3 months they would accept it back and give me a new one), they kept telling me to wait for the software update that would fix everything. This phrase became the norm for the next few months, there was an update for the phone just about every month. They only accepted it back for repair when the phone got hot and actually died, even then they tried to refuse it back because they had no loan phones. The new phone they gave me was just as much a piece of shit as the last, software glitching, freezing, turning off, taking photos on its own, etc. Now thats just the problems with customer service and the phone, now to the network. I work in Fairfield in Melbourne, close suburb to the CBD. Never did I have trouble with service there with telstra, I am lucky to have 2 or 3 bars of reception at the most at my workplace, inside or outside. I constantly have no internet access even when I have full reception on my phone, phone calls drop out and say connection error, sms will not send for no reason, and worst of all being on hold forever to find out what is going on is a joke. So I emailed a complaint, and just got handballed back to the retail stores who plain don't care either. I am so pissed for going to vodafone, I would have been better off using two tin cans and a length of string to communicate with people.

I have two phones on Vodafone plans, and have been a customer since 2006 when I worked for the company in many local Canberra stores. In the past three months the service that I used to rave to customers, friends and family about has gone from sublime to dismal with the calls to and from my Vodafone mobile accounts either dropping out after a few seconds or not getting through at all. Voicemail messages take days to reach me, and SMS can take anywhere between 30 minutes to 48 hours.

What annoys me the most is that Vodafone Customer Care (now located offshore - no Newcastle or Hobart call centres) insist that these problems are very uncommon for Canberra (which they insist is a suburb of NSW), and that turning 3G off on my handset for a couple of days will fix the problem. It's been six days for me now without 3G and I'm still experiencing the same problems.

I never thought I'd say it, but it looks like I'll be heading over to Telstra as soon as I can!

Logged onto vodafones website to check the coverage of pre-paid broadband in Hamilton for my father. Website said it had coverage. Checked with the sales person in store before buying the usb modem about coverage and they also brought up the same map I had looked at. Spent money on the modem only to find out there is ZERO coverage in Hamilton - so, wasted time (there was a massive wait in store) and money!

I have had constant drop outs, calls failing to connect daily.
Messages not received until hours or days later.
More recently phone calls going direct to message bank without the phone even ringing - whilst the phone is showing full service! I have fallen back to giving people my land line.

I have been with vodaphone for years. Up until a few months ago never had a problem and I live in a rural area. All of a sudden had no coverage, phone would just drop out etc. Contacted vodaphone....long wait then was told it was my phone...yet this phone was working fine with other sims, still does, I told them this and they hung up on me. I was never able to get through again...sent umpteen emails only to be told they need 50,000 bits of info that they already had including exact times, dates etc when phone was doing this. I told them to shove it....brought a new phone it still did the same...sent final email... talking legal action...and hey wow phone working now and has not slipped up for three weeks...funny that...

HELP!!!! Why now..! Anyway.. story time.. Well i recently signed up on a 24 months plan with Vodafail and since leaving the service of optus, was expecting something similar. Since then i have had phone calls which have 10 seconds BEFORE it even starts ringing to then have a call where the receiver can not hear me. Also reception issues that mark my pocket like as a BLACK HOLE - sometimes when im only 5 km's from brisbane city central...
Technically they're promotions/advise have partial false advertising arising from our fight.

I had a Vodafone mobile USB modem, and it had serious trouble getting reception even in the city. After waiting nearly an hour to get through to their so called help line, all I got were broken promises about services being expanded, and nothing about how to fix poor reception. I was in a 2 year contract so I had to suffer with poor connection, slow speed, no help and a price increase. I couldnt wait to dump them. I have a long memory and Ill never touch them again.

I have changed number of phones and found it was Vodafone always dropping out. I have put all my family and friends on Voadfone over the last 5-6 years so we can chat for free (V2V calls). Now everyone is feeling the pain. They are an international company they could easily do better. Get your stiff together vodafone!!!

27 Dec 2010 09:50:02 PM: I had changed my number to a new vodafone number, and my sister who is a vodafone customer has been charged calling me, i thought v2v had been free for years, they said it was because of the buddy system that she had set up on my old number, and she was told the unlimited phone calls between vodafone to vodafone was only on the new contract that have come out, and existing customers have to upgrade to the new plans, they dont get notified of the neww plans unless they listen to radio advertisements and ads on the tv, has anyone else had these problems?

I advise there have been some issues with 3G accessibility in some areas in recent times. Most of these issues have now been resolved." These phone service issues I've been having, including at my home, have not been resolved. I'm still having problems but they just won't acknowledge them. I'll be contacting the TIO too.

5267 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 11 out of 10 at 27 Dec 2010 09:13:14 PM
Poor coverage. Have been on vodafail for a while. Have been on contract for quite some time i am just over complaining i have seriously heard a goat (i am not kidding) well it seriously sounded like one in the backround when trying to enquire.
For starters I went to vodafone on a plan about a year ago and was told 'i could get up to date balances on how much has been spent on my plan' that was the reason i went to a plan. Blatant false advertising. I found out when my mobile bill was excessive. depending who i talked to at the vodafone shops or over the phone enquiries all different answers. Even checked the website which stated that up to date balances could be checked.
After a week and a half of getting no where with customer service, was talking to the manager of the section i was calling and we were on a first name basis. got absolutely no where my bill was changing consistently every couple of days.
I had the problem resolved by calling a highly unpromoted number... The vodafone resolution team, i actually talked to someone in Australia, they read my file and fixed it quickly. But still wasted heaps of time. And if you look closely at the terms and conditions which you have to agree to it states;

INDEMNITY
You must indemnify and hold harmless Vodafone or its employees contractors
and agents and keep them indemnified, against all loss, actions,
proceedings, costs, expenses (including legal fees), claims and damages
arising from:

(a) any breach by you of these terms; or

(b) reliance by you on any information obtained through Myvodafone.com.au
'extract from vodafone website june 2009'
Meaning they can lie to us or give us misleading information, nice...
it might be worded differently now.

Now onto the present. In the shop it clearly states that i have coverage where i live and good coverage. Well in the real world its almost non-existent. While adding to consistent drop outs along the F3 freeway. At least 3 times in 15km. This is just on the Central Coast, One is between Tuggerah and Ourimbah, the other Near the top of the Ourimbah hill and another is not only between Ourimbah and Gosford exits but also right before the gosford exit.

But my advice to anyone having problems lodge a complaint and get the reference number then contact the TIO

5264 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor reception at 27 Dec 2010 09:11:54 PM
I live in Western Sydney. I first had a Vodaphone wirless prepaid, the connection speed was so pathetic I spent many hours talking to people in Egypt who were not available after 8pm at night, they always said it was my computer that was at fault. In the end I returned the modem after the service people gave me permission for a full refund. I then went and bought a 3G prepaid modem to find i was still with the same Vodaphone network! After many hours of calls to India they finally gave me an investigation number. The technical people from India were more helpful but still said there was nothing wrong with the system even when online to them I was unable to even run the speed test. In the end they advised me to try another carrier as they couldn't do anything to improve my speeds which were about 20-25% of the network average. The also agreed to unlock my modem so that i could go to another carrier. In short the network speed is atrocious. We pay good money and they just don't deliver!

i live on the mornington peninsula and have had nothing but trouble with VF mobile service. The salesperson told us that the network coverage would be excellent in our area. I have had nothing but poor reception and dropouts. I thought it was just my phone, but turns out no, it's VF. reading all these other accounts of VFs service it was like looking into a mirror. their coverage is poo! depending on the weather (ie wind, rain, storms, clouds, sunshine and anything else) my using my phone is like playing roulette. Sometimes works in the lounge/bedroom/kitchen/outside, but usually not. and because it has worked once in a particular location, it does not mean that it will work there again later, or even during the same conversation. i am very keen and interested in joining any class action that may take place. i will next time most likely just go with telstra regardless of the cost - just so i can feel like a prince with my superior network coverage regardless of the cost ;-)

been fighting with vodafone over same issue since august with useless handset - usual range problems (dropping out, loss of reception in my local supermarket), continued loss of important contacts (i work with vulnerable clients) refusal to replace handset, many trips to the store, a total of FOURTEEN hours on hold over 5 calls to customer "care" (haha) - including one FOUR HOUR wait on 23/12 which was not answered in the end. i was blatently lied to - promised resolution and a new handset in october. despite the dreadful, non-existent service, i continue to be billed, with promises of "refund" later. meanwhile i have been without the technology i need for 4 months now. i want my contract cancelled and my fees refunded
27 Dec 2010 09:16:34 PM: on-hold wait times with vodafone are an absolute DISGRACE. i have sat on hold listening to john mayer and rob thomas for FIVE hours and transported around different departments in sri lanka. they should be ashamed of their customer service, just disgusting.

5253 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Shit at 27 Dec 2010 09:07:09 PM
I recently signed up to a Crazy Johns contract and as I soon as i got home I had no reception, I asked at the time of purchase specifically about the Vodaphone coverage and was told, that it was as good as anyone else and that "an interstate truck driver that uses the Vodafone Network says it's better then Telstra", I was also told that 3 are hiring towers from Vodafone because they have the best coverage. I had my phone a couple of monthes and have terrible reception sometimes no reception at all. When I finally had a day off work I went to Crazy Johns and was told that it was really unusual and that they hadn't had any complaints about reception in my area, they showed me a computer graphic that showed there was perfect coverage in my area. I was told to find a friend on Vodafone and compare the signal, if they are different then they may have to check my phone as it may be faulty!!
So now I'm locked in a 2 year contract with a phone I can use sometimes...it's that bad at home that I have to walk around until I get 1 bar to make a call. I usually have to go stand out on my driveway!
My sms's regularly don't send and I've recently found out that I don't receive them alot of the time...
I sent an MMS to some friends at 1pm in the afternoon and they all received it a 2am in the morning..at least they got it I guess!
I'm glad the truth is out though, I was thinking i was going nuts!!!
Thanks Jason

no reception, call fade outs, bad reception, lack of coverage, their coverage maps are BS, OS call centres are a Joke, after many emails and phone calls getting no where I listed my issues with the TIO then went and changed my number over to a new provider, ALL GOOD, still in contract, but its pretty basic, a CONTRACT is between TWO parties , one has to provide the said given service the other has to pay for it, quite simply if they cant deliver the service I don't pay, simple really. They can waster their time with the TIO explaining their rip off to them, I'm over them.

I use Vodafone for internet. The connection speed is very poor all the time. I am unable to connect to the internet at most times. They include data uploaded/sent as part of the usage amount. They only should include data we download as part of our usage. A month ago there was no coverage for internet for 2 days.

When I call customer service, I end up speaking to an Automatic Lara who can't understand my voice no matter how clearly I speak. After having to deal with Lara, I then have to put up with a service representative at a call centre in India who is worse than Lara.

27 Dec 2010 09:12:58 PM: Lara a virtual person that do not exist,it's so frustrating to deal and time consuming to us. as we want our problem solves asap. We want to talk to a person that can solve our problem but this is not the case. I think Vodacrap have lost the plot here in 360degree.
