26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

12179 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is WORST SERVICE EVER at 12 Jan 2011 01:06:50 AM
I have been with vodafone for nearly 4 years and have not had a problem up until about the last 6 months. reception is so bad that that it sits on 1 or reception bars. my girlfriend tries to call, she gets frustrated and gives up. she believes she get through to my phone on like the 6th call. and finally when she does get through it hangs up, so in the end we have to call each other 4-5 times just to talk for 5 minutes. i have missed work calls and have had to use email now, which makes it much more time consuming. i've really had enough, im soo happy that my contract finishes in 8 days and i can tell u what im not going back to vodafone even if they offered me a year free. not even they gave me the opportunity to meet david beckham.

SERIOUSLY VODAFONE
IF YOUR GONNA MAKE US PAY FOR A SERVICE
MAKE SURE THE SERVICE WORKS

12178 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is better on the 2G network at 12 Jan 2011 12:35:43 AM
I've been with Vodafone for a few years now and the reception has never been great in my area, but a guy at my local store told me that the reception is much better on the 2G network. I have a new iPhone now (after upgrading from the 2nd Gen one) and still works fine on 2G. I don't care about not having 3G, because everything still works on the iPhone fine, internet is slower but still okay. So just a tip for anyone experiencing coverage problems, try 2G for a while. If/once Voda fixes their 3G issues, you can switch back, but until then 2g is fine.

I have been a Vodafail customer for at least 5 years and have had no problems until their recent system glitch. like you all, i have suffered the drop out of signal, delays in txt msgs and loss of signal. this morning however, I recieved a spam txt from an international number; boasting about a 6.8M award. Has anyone else recieved such a msg? I have never recieved a msg like this before, and am wondering if it is apart of their 'system error' or something else unrelated to vodafail.
12 Jan 2011 12:20:44 PM: Yep I got a similar text yesterday says I have won 1 mil USD. Never had anything like this before. I reconc its got something to do with the security leak. 10 months left of my contract grrrr...

my mobile internet usb stick is a disaster, vodacrims even sent a usb dock to boost the signal ( which defeats the purpose of having mobile internet).
Well the booster dock is as useless as the internet service vodafone claimed they could provide.
This is fraud!

I rang on wed 5th of jan to try and get out of my contract and waited 1 hour to get through but after 5 mins the call drops out and they never rang me back. It was to late to call back i so rang them back the next day. didn't have to wait to long this time round, after 5 mins talking to customer service the guy told me if i wanted to get out of my contract and not pay the fee i had to try a sharing dock to boost my signal. Now why didnt they try that in the first place, i somehow think it wont work. Oh they still havent fixed up the prob that they charged me for 2 months of not using internet.

12174 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very Very, NEVER AGAIN at 11 Jan 2011 10:25:27 PM
I called Vodafail yesterday to register my complaint with them, same problems as everyone else. After all the media on TV and the internet about Vodafails problems they tried to tell me it was my phone. So they got me to reset my phone while I was on the phone to them and offcourse the call was then disconnected due to the reset. I thought they might call me back since they had my number, I was wrong, no call back. I was not going to call them back and wait again on hold. I was thinking that this is how they are dealing with most of the complaints, blame the phone, get the customer to reset, then the customer is gone as the call drops out due to the reset. I only joined Vodafail as the sponsors my favourite V8 Super Car team, NEVER AGAIN will I resign with them.

I travel by train from Hawkesbury River to Sydney four days a week and I cannot have a conversation during that trip without it dropping out 3 or 4 times. I am not talking about tunnels here - I am talking about the main line via Hornsby, Epping, Eastwood and Strathfield! Frequently there is no internet access for the whole 60 minutes - sooo frustrating! Just before Christmas everyone with a Vodafone acount in the office in Surry Hills, right next to Central railway station, had no reception ALL day!

OK. I did not think data speed and coverage could get any worse but it is. I have read what is happening when other people try & get issues resolved & having tried myself it seems hopeless & we have to wait until our contracts expire. What about the poor folk in Qld on Vodafail... They really need the service to be up & running properly in such a situation. You should be ashamed of yourselves Vodafail and karma dictates you won't be in business for much longer. The security breach is totally scary & I don't believe a word that comes out of Vodafail.

12170 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafone sucks!!! at 11 Jan 2011 09:48:10 PM
I have an iphone 4. If I put any type of case on it, I have ZERO reception most of the time. So if I want reception, I have to use it without a case... I have already dropped the phone once- of course without the case, and the back broke costing me $80 to repair. I'm sure I'll drop it again, and since I have to use it without the case I'll have to pay to get it repaired again.
It's a lose/lose situation: no reception, or risk dropping it and breaking it and paying for the repairs.
11 Jan 2011 10:19:06 PM: Er... to be honest it sounds like you're having issues with the iPhone... as well as not being able to look after it (and this is why you can't have nice things :P). But yeah, I too require a case for my phone or I will definitely end up axing it.

And funnily enough, your reception vs phone cover issue is like the inverse of what was initially reported when the iPhone 4 was release; where the use of a case was required to prevent reception issues caused by an inherent design flaw involving the placement of certain components, a metal reception band, the position of your hand on the phone and the fact that the human body conducts electricity.
13 Jan 2011 05:38:14 AM: I have a case on my iPhone 24/7 and my reception issues change daily, most days I'm fine.. Some days none for hours.

12166 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is poor reception at 11 Jan 2011 09:25:57 PM
I bought a new vodafone phone for my daughter to use after checking the vodafone website to see that Albany in WA has reception. We found there was no recption from our home and pretty much everywhere except the centre of town even though we are situated in what is considered the middle of the city. After numerous calls to vodafone to get an unlocking code so we could at least use the phone with another provider we were told it costs $25 to do it online plus an extra $50 because the phone is less than 6 months old. I was quite prepared to pay the $25 but not the $50 as it wasn't my fault we couldnt use the phone. Every time I spoke to someone about the issue they told me they couldnt help me but would refer me to their supervisor who would contact me. I told them not to call the vodafone number as we get no reception and as a consequence our credit also expired as we couldnt use it in time before it expired. Receiving messages is the same problem as we had no credit to retrieve them. They never replied and so I had to keep ringing them and telling the same story to someone new with the same result - I'll get someone to call you. It wasnt until I threatened in an email to report them to the TIO that I was sent an unlocking code which did not work and so I had to continue making calls until I set a time limit on contacting the TIO. That is when I at last got someone sensible on the phone who told me that obviously I needed a new unlocking code and that when she receives it she will call me on my other mobile and walk me through the unlocking process with the code. It finally worked and we havent looked back. I will never use vodafone again and have also told anyone who will listen in Albany that vodafone has no reception here so DO NOT BUY VODAFONE.
Now there is this problem of leaked personal info - I wonder about identity theft and who knows what transactions on my credit card. Where does this leave us???
12 Jan 2011 12:37:59 AM: The latest news is that all bank and credit card information is encrypted, even for staff members, so you should be fine there.
12 Jan 2011 05:00:54 AM: Locking is so that you can get the handset so cheap usually. The unlocking fee is to recover losses and would have been sold to you as such. Sometimes due to manufacturer not supplying the correct codes or the customer not being able to read unlocking instructions properly there are difficulties in unlocking. The instructions to unlock it online are on the box when you buy it. I'm glad you finally managed to do it. Who was really at fault in your unlocking drama? You wanted a discount and weren't prepared to put effort in to get it.
12 Jan 2011 07:44:49 AM: Err - whilst your bank and CC info might be safe - the information useful to identity theives such as DOB, address, drivers licence number are probably there for the taking
12 Jan 2011 09:52:07 AM: A local reseller "ALL Phones" uses a laptop to connect to vodafone, this is in FULL view of all passing people as the store is a counter in the middle of a shopping mall, not only insecure but not private, and the stupid message on 1555 about be assured.... secure login and password.... get real, your caught with your trousers down, deal with it and be honest for once... FAIL FAIL FAIL

I recently drove from Canberra up to central QLD, days before the recent floods swept through the area. Was annoyed when I noticed 5kms out of Goondiwindi on the way to St George that there was zero coverage. Arrived in St George and spent the night - again no coverage. Left for Dalby. Still No coverage. On the road with no means of contacting anybody, or friends further north being able to reach me, I was headed straight for the flood zone. I never realised just how few and far between pay phones are these days! Go Vodafone! F#@ktards!

Constant dropped calls, no reception in home, on the train, on the highway, or even in Sydney CBD. Now the internet baddies have my personal information. Well done Vodafone.
20 Jan 2011 12:42:34 AM: Let's be realistic here- Vodafone's system is stuffed so much of the time, and it's so slow when it;s working, that the real baddies probably couldn't be bothered, unless their heavy accessing of the system is what makes it so slow.

TOok me until December to get a resolution and my file fixed.

7 months with no statements and not able to view online, kept getting told i can view my statements online(Couldn't view them due to there system error) or by calling a number for my balance ,i needed the statements to be reimbursed by work so balance kept getting bigger , worked out payment plan , but they repeatably disconnected my phones/internet without warning. Under contract so in the end i just stopped paying and got prepaid , still haven't been contacted by them. Also spent hours on hold or repeating the same shit to different people then getting the "we will have to transfer you to another department" after being on hold for 40mins then being on hold for another 40mins only to be told the same shit! I could go on for hours!
12 Jan 2011 12:52:30 PM: I have not been able to access my bill for 7 months either. same thing. spent two days talking to various idiots from vodafone. they have no recollection of my complaint so they can't cacnel my service because they think i never brought up this issue..... i am sooo angry right now. i think i'll jsut stop paying as well!!! get them to call me ... then i'll keep putting them on hold for three hours.

I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS AS ALL OTHERS. DID ANY OTHERS GET THE EMAIL THIS EVENING FROM VODAFONE "IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR OUR CUSTOMERS"?
11 Jan 2011 07:49:50 PM: Yes the email was full of fail.

Best way to describe is 'Weasel words' (as pointed out to me on whirlpool) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weasel_word

Most people will read that and think everything is fine, but the information only requires a login and password and an internet access. It is far from a 'secure' login and password.
11 Jan 2011 08:08:37 PM: Agree with above, the most unfortunate thing is the very poor use of the English language, if this email is an example of the standard that Customer Service & Experience have to achieve..............

12148 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is could do better at 11 Jan 2011 07:37:01 PM
I've been a vodafone contract customer for about 5 years now. They offer great deals on new phones and really good contracts. There have definitely been some reception problems and I need to find out more about this breach of access to confidential customer information. The way I understand it VF has been allowing its contractors unlimitted access to all our customer records via an online portal. The details of this sound like a real worry. I'm yet to decide how upset about this I am and whether or not to join the class action. Having said that I must say I really like Vodafone, my experience with them has always exemplified superior customer service with any bill disputes being resolved quickly with either a refund or an offer to meet me half way. this generosity of spirit goes a long way. I can't help but worry that we will lose this if we throw them under the truck. My experiences as a Telstra and Optus were awful and I have to say I appreciate the best of a bad bunch.
11 Jan 2011 10:02:53 PM: I totally agree with this. I've been with Vodafone for a couple of years now and compared to my previous provider (what became Reward mobile) I was waaaaay happier with Vodafone. The coverage was actually really good (I could receive calls in the bottom floor of our building where others on other providers couldn't) and I also have to admit I've generally had good experiences with Vodafone customer service, both in-store and at call centers (admittedly the dealers can come across a bit dodgy). Except for Lara. I hate her.

The problem is, I think my established brand loyalty and the fact that my service issues are far less severe compared to a lot of individuals here had made me complacent about the declining quality of services.

But as each day goes on and I continue to experience dropped calls and poor reception, I really can't chalk it up to just "the network acting up". Because quite frankly it shouldn't be. I'm not keen on joining Telstra or Optus but Vodafone really needs to correct its act or it will end up losing me and my family members' plans.

If I or my family members end up a victim of this security breach then that'd be a whole new story. I'd absolutely go off my rocker. Their network coverage obviously needs to improve for them to continue to do business, but I'm particularly concerned about how they go forward from here re: storage of and access to customer data. I have no doubt that they've been negligent in that department.
13 Jan 2011 07:40:33 PM: That's the point every one should realise. Don't complain or call unless you have a real issue. Chances of your details being accessed are so low it's not funny. Unless you walk into a Vodafone store or call and give them your number and password!

I only use prepay with my vodafail so that I can control my usage. So my complaint is more about the coverage, the text messages that are sent multiple times to the annoyance of the recipient and probably to my costs. False and misleading competitions that vodafail never honor. Never being able to access the net on my phone despite good coverage at that time. Have been with Vodafone for just over 12 months and have never had any issues until about 8 weeks ago. Usual stuff - non or late receipt of SMS, signal going from nil to 5 bars even though I was completely stationary. Best bit was rang to complain and was placed on hold for 50 minutes on Sunday afternoon. When I finally got to speak to someone and said I also wanted to complain about the length of time I was on hold I was told "yes, fifteen minutes is a long time to be on hold". I politely pointed out that it was fifty minutes however that failed to elicit any response...I then lost the signal and was cut off..AARRGGGHHHH!!

I have been with vodafone for 6+ yrs, and until about 6 months ago have never had issues .. until now! If I complained about everything wrong with Vodafone these days I would be here all day - so I will go with the biggest issue - their phone coverage!!

Not receiving a text message all day, but then receiving a whole bunch at once. Text messages I send never seem to make it to the recipient, even though they are in my sent items. Incoming and outgoing calls are always extremely crackly and most of the time, end up cutting out. In the times that they dont, they may as well, as voices cut in and out its impossible to hold a conversation. The Internet is painfully slow also. Customer Care is also a joke - with the bad reception along with the lack of english those calls are more frustrating than helpful ...

The final straw for me was when it took me two and a half days to retrieve a voivemail letting me know that a good friend had passed away.

FAIL!!

12137 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is EXTREMELY VODAFAIL at 11 Jan 2011 06:28:06 PM
I have very bad problems with Vodafone reception where I live in Tasmania, calls dropping out and other days having no service for up to 48 hours, I have no home phone and I rely on my mobile. My daughter has severe asthma we had to call an ambulance early one morning because she wasnt breathing and I had no reception. Im also not happy with the customer service, delayed text messages, delayed voice messages, also not showing missed calls and being unable to call out. Friends and family who have tried to call and all they get is voice mail, or its switched off when it isnt and it wasnt in use at the time, and its all when the phone is in good reception range. it is just joke. why should we be paying for something we cant even use!

12136 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is generous to it's 3% of customers that want out at 11 Jan 2011 06:27:04 PM
Even if every post was a single new complaint about Voda say 11000 posts divide that into say 4000000 customers (theres more than that) and then say times in by 10 cos for every 1 that bothers etc...you get 2.75% of customers complaining including ones that haven't with very generous maths! Simple maths proves that the problem is affecting way less people then this site would make it appear. Talk about blowing things out of proportion. Soon things will be better for you 3% rest assured...
11 Jan 2011 06:37:48 PM: Simple logic tells you that 90% + of people do not even know about this site, and further to that the majority of people don't post on blogs. 11,000 customers represents a huge sample size of customers. If it is not such a big issue, why are you here even posting? I know we have had other VHA staff post here saying just about every customer is walking into stores these days abusing them. Now if that is true, that is a far bigger number than the 3% you claim this is affecting ;)
11 Jan 2011 08:38:18 PM: methinks he/she (let's call him Sheldon!) works for vodafone maybe??
11 Jan 2011 09:41:13 PM: I'm too tired to even check Opie's cheerful arithmetic. Can question it's ability to read (and maybe it's numeracy) whenthe post before was 12 135.
This site contains posts by up to 12,160 people. Let's say 11000 people are upset enough to post their complaints.Apparently only 10% of the unique visitors to this site.10 000 people- not a percentage of anything- who are able to write English well enough to detail or outline the Vodafone problem for them. 10,000 people with internet access.
And some cynical bean counter is promising "things will be better". I just wish Vodafone staff would p!ss off - what are you doing here? These people are the the Vodafone customers who really don't believe you any more.Maybe only 3% of Vodafone victims, which is probably close to 100% of VF customers - and you just write their troubles down because you've decided they aren't a large enough proportion of your customers and insult us,really insult us, with a nebulous promise.Just p!ss off.
12 Jan 2011 05:16:15 AM: Hey reread the post. I generously timesed the problem by 10 after eliminating a fair amount of non-unique or pro-vodafone customers. Let me assure you I don't work for Vodafone. Why the personal attack on someone trying to bring some rationality to all this. Why don't you want healthy debate? Why are you so attacking. You accuse me of a lack of literacy and numeracy skills but mate you just made yourself look like a dope. You did it to yourself.
12 Jan 2011 07:42:22 AM: I'm not your mate. And if you don't directly work for Vodafone, you're not only a suckhole for making promises on Vodafone's behalf that neither of you can keep,"you just made yourself look like a dope". It's not anything to do with kindness, I know it is impossible to have a "healthy debate" with an idiot. I look stupid by even dignifying your answer with a response.Perhaps I have misunderstood the purpose of this site;there'll be time for "healthy debate" when things go to court, and hopefully other places, like parliament. I don't like "debate" when it is just people trying to impose their own points of view on others, and trying to score points off "opposition".
Even if there was only 1 person, total, on this site, a miniscule proportion of Vodafone's customers, that one person was not getting his problem with Vodafone sorted until he made a lot of noise, which indicates the contempt Vodafone holds for its customers.
12 Jan 2011 07:43:47 AM: Are you suggesting that all the posters on the facebook page associated with this site are the product of someone creating multiple false identities?
12 Jan 2011 08:46:33 AM: OK everyone, take a deep breath........hold it........breathe out, ahhh.......that's so much better, can we please cease the name calling and continue the discussion (debate call it what you will) in a nice adult way? Thank you Vodafail.com mod
12 Jan 2011 09:23:09 AM: He started it!

12135 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is hopeless at 11 Jan 2011 06:23:11 PM
no reception in Toowoomba(and it seems most of QLD) yet Telstra coverage is fine.
11 Jan 2011 06:28:48 PM: power outage at base station. would you like someone to risk dying by fixing that for you?
11 Jan 2011 06:35:56 PM: Exactly. People are selfish and don't look at the bigger picture.
11 Jan 2011 06:38:41 PM: How do you know it is a power outage? Which base station are we talking about???
11 Jan 2011 06:40:19 PM:
11 Jan 2011 06:49:17 PM: and there was a news report on it....
11 Jan 2011 08:04:51 PM: So.......it was not a power outage, just intermittent loss of voice and data services in QLD.
The remainder of the report concerns NT and NSW both not relevant to remarks made to the OP.

12133 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is disgraceful at 11 Jan 2011 06:10:43 PM
what is the point in having unlimited calls, text, and 1GB of data when:
calls drop out 2 minutes in. and no one can call me.
texts don't go through, and even if they do it takes ages to get to the recipient.
and how are we supposed to use 1GB if we can't even get a solid 3G connection for more than 10 minutes? i'm going to the tio with this and getting out as soon as possible. i'd rather pay a little bit more for a reliable service and a cap, rather than pay the cheapest price possible and get unlimited which can't even be used.

12132 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is epic at 11 Jan 2011 06:08:45 PM
just read this on facebook
"1.42pm: Sky News reports the Vodafone office in Brisbane is under water. Customers on the network might have problems using their phones"
11 Jan 2011 06:15:53 PM: event without flooding, their network still has a lot of problem. Make no different
11 Jan 2011 06:25:03 PM: The mobile network, which transmits data wirelessly from tower (stick high up in air thing) to tower (stick high up in air thing) to person, who is hopefully not underwater?(ok-Vodafone doesn't- maybe never will again) But I thought that's why so many of us bought mobile phones?
11 Jan 2011 06:38:15 PM: Sorry mate it goes tower to exchange to tower at other end (if a mobile to mobile call). You may have thought that's why you brought a mobile. Doesn't make it reality. Coverage is metro and road based.
11 Jan 2011 08:59:46 PM: ...and towers work off magic, they don't need electricity.
11 Jan 2011 10:47:21 PM: The electricity wires run along the ground?
12 Jan 2011 05:19:08 AM: seen any underwater power substations before? No they don't normally work underwater.
12 Jan 2011 09:13:10 AM: @ 12 Jan 2011 07:19:08 So am I correct to presume all the lights were out in Brisbane as well due to the underwater power substations????
12 Jan 2011 01:42:55 PM: The equipment shelter is often built under the tower on ground level

12130 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is at 11 Jan 2011 06:00:07 PM
Maybe the operators would be able to take your calls if everyone stopped complaining to the tio, tio complaints take operators away from their original roles in customer service...
11 Jan 2011 06:06:50 PM: Or have enough staff to cope with demand, retarded statement.
11 Jan 2011 06:07:58 PM: Pretty sure Vodafone have a dedicated TIO complaint dept, but even if you are correct, if Vodafone Operators would allow customers out of their contracts penalty free without the need for TIO intervention (due to the poor service, lacklustre coverage, continual dropped calls, sms/mms arriving days later, poor security and I am sure a handful of other reasons) then I am sure customers would deal directly with the operators and not the TIO. However it seems the TIO is the only one that is able to make Vodafone do that. Food for thought :)
11 Jan 2011 06:41:42 PM: There are staff in Mumbai pulling 6 day weeks of more then 10 hours to take your inane little calls about inconsequential stuff. Also you only ring the TIO when you don't get the answer you want. Vodafone only says no if your request is groundless surely. I've had nothing but great interactions with care up to and including fixing giant bills and helping with cancellations. Give em a try and if it's a no answer it's usually for good reason.
11 Jan 2011 07:48:53 PM: @ Jan 2011 08:41:42 PM: Who are you to judge whether the calls made to 1555 are inane little calls about inconsequential stuff. ?? Seems a little arrogant!!!!
12 Jan 2011 12:37:26 AM: we wouldnt be calling if we didnt think their was a problem.. and as for the mumbai staff working extensive hours, isnt that their choice to work those long hours? if not, are you doing them aswell to try and solve the dillema rather than adding to it? I for one rely heavily on my phone atm, as i am due to have a baby, no signal - how can i call anyone?? i needed this problem fixed yesterday..
12 Jan 2011 05:22:44 AM: most calls are.
12 Jan 2011 07:55:22 AM: I'm beginning to wonder if one of the posters here isn't someone from Piper Alderman just trying to inflame the situation, because surely a real Vodafone employee wouldn't show himself to be such an @sshole on this site. Create a page for Vodafone employees to let it all hang out- tell us what you really think of customers.Make it a site where you have to log on with the "secret" Vodafone password :-)
13 Jan 2011 07:45:39 PM: Nah just trying to play devil's advocate and show the other side. Might make you pause for thought. You know as you reach for the phone to whinge about that one dropped call you had once and use it as your leverage to get out of the contract you signed. Time waster. Let people with real issues call.

12129 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is coverage, what coverage at 11 Jan 2011 05:57:56 PM
coverage in SA is shocking. 2 hrs from our house, we have no coverage. But our friends with the other carriers do!! Why cant they use a universal tower for some country locations.
12 Jan 2011 12:28:58 AM: That would mean the telecommunications companies actually co-operating!! Are you serious? They have locked their phones to their own networks so you can't freely swap between them, why would they co-coperate?
12 Jan 2011 05:24:28 AM: Actually sharing towers happens a lot. Number portability is also a giant cooperation between networks. It's like getting the Herald and the telegraph to share printing presses. Crazy but it happens.
12 Jan 2011 07:59:57 AM: Yet someone I know,on 3,when upgrading to I4 couldn't port her 3 number from her I3 to her I4, also on 3.

Somehow in Castletown Shopping Centre, in Townsville, there is absolutely no coverage whatsoever. That is until you walk into the vodafone shop. In there it is almost perfect. The rest of the shopping centre not a chance. This is completely unacceptable because if my wife and I split up to do some separate shopping we have to make precise arrangements. It's like we've gone back to having no mobile phones. Does this happen elsewhere and how do they manage perfect coverage in the shop?
11 Jan 2011 09:00:02 PM: pre-arrange to meet her in the Vodafone shop at Castletown at a certain time, this way you wont need to use the mobile phone, this would be a smarter and more accurate solution to your problem. wait on, fuck the Vodafone store and go to Allphones store in Castletown, you may be able to port out to Optus there, this will solve all your problems.

I signed up for a 24 month contract for a vodafone usb stick 5mb which I paid $39.95 a month. It broke down after4 months of use.The whole situation has been a complete joke I was studying at the time at uni,and everytime I was in the middle of an assignment it wouldn't connect or breakdown.Try and explain that to my uni lecturer about my assignments not being completed..
I tried to get a replacement, and the consultant was going to charge me $80 for another usb stick also I was told that my contract would be cancelled.I asked to speak to the Manager that didn't happen.SoI was told to call the customer care phone number,as they don't deal with any technical difficulties. What do they do then. When I called,my call sent to egypt of all places.I was told my contract can be cancelled ut bit would cost me a further $25 to get out of the contract, and then I was told my contract was finished and I won't be paying anything furher in payments.
I was told that it was,it didn't happen and I am still getting sms and email saying that the direct debit is still coming out of my bank account. This isn't good enough,I thought I was dealing with a proffessional company,I was so wrong!!!I hope we all get some justice finally!!!

I live just 30 kilometres from the Nation's Capital in a rural area. My coverage is ordinary at best and I continually lose calls between my home and the city, as there are several 'black spots' on the way. I have been a Vodafone customer for some years now, but if I wasn't contracted to them until May 2012 I would leave like a shot. Unless things improve dramatically by the end of my contract, I'm 'outta here' (unless a class action somehow gives me a way out BEFORE then).

not only do i hate speaking to someone who barely speaks english and sounds like a robot reading from a script, my favourite would have to be recieving my bill with international calls of zero to 3 secs and getting sharged 2-3 dollars which add up in the end to a significant account. i understand you get charged by the minuter but zero seconds .....wtf!!!!
11 Jan 2011 04:26:51 PM: you immediately get charged $2 for an international call plus your standard flagfall and call rate per 30 or 60 seconds, so immediately you are up over $2 from the moment you ring someone. 12105 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst than foam cups! at 11 Jan 2011 04:09:05 PM
Am currrently on the phone trying to get through after being told to redial multiple times!

Have had issues with Vodafone for over 2 years. My blackberry curve was playing up, which took forever for them to acknowledged was faulty and I was getting charged ridiculous amounts for multiple messages being sent and vodafone's particularly laggy balance updater. I.e. It would tell me I had $200 of credit on my $49 cap plan when i had far less or it "couldn't provide a balance at this time". This would lead to my account going over, how can i manage my account if they can't tell me how much i got to spend? What? Spend less so they can have more of my money for less work? How many telco providers can't even provide you a normal account balance? I understand that it's not live, but be at least 1-2 days up to date.

Lara....oh Lara...How i wish you could actually understand a word i say. I've tried in futile to get Voda to fix issues, but this is just plain useless when you can't even get from point A to point B. I personally believe it is designed to just stall customers so they don't need to hire as many customer service operators on the other end in India.

Lastly, I for the love of god was reluctant to sign up, but have just signed up to Vodafone in December as my partner was also on the network (free calls voda to voda). First off, network signal has been shotty to say the least. I get calls that are patchy and I am on a new phone. My new blackberry torch 9800 (yes it's only just come out) sometimes losses reception and even rejects my sim. WTF? Yes Vodafone sucks and now i am stuck with them for another 24 months. Why can't you just work?

As i finish writing this...guess what? I'm stil waiting for a voda rep to answer my call...30 minutes in. Oh did i forget to mention that they are sending multiple bills for 2 different accounts? Which was what my call was regarding... And here comes the patchy reception from their own call center!

Voda I hope you get sued for every cent you've cost us loyal customers.
11 Jan 2011 04:21:31 PM: I too have had major billing issues, they never seem to get it right...this has only happened in the past few months, call up , complain, and get them to go through the bill, the 3 times I have got them to do this they have found errors on their end and end up saying a big SORRY and credit my account, im sick of having to do this, but watch your bills very closely ...

12100 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is It fails with coverage, security and I believe I have been ripped off at times with my prepaid credit. at 11 Jan 2011 03:55:50 PM
I'm not in any mess but as stated above I have not been happy with Vodafone's coverage that goes out for days at a time, delays in text messages coming through and being sent and at times I have really felt as if I have been ripped off with my phone credit. I will text through my balance and I might have $4.00 left for example, will send one text and then I am out of balance! There have been many times when I was certain that I could not have used so much phone credit as has been registered. Once when coverage was out for a few days, my phone would connect, then cut off, I'd have to ring back again and again for the same thing to happen. My family who were on Vodafone had the same connection problems as had some of my friends. I rang up to complain at the time, people said they would return my calls when I actually got cut off to them as well but no one would get back to me. So I had to ring again and again to get my complaint heard. The call centre is obviously overseas. Either that or they have people working for them who do not have a very good command over English, judging by their communication standards. And the irony is that it is a communications network!!!

12099 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Mobile and Broadband at 11 Jan 2011 03:46:54 PM
Cannot make or received calls half the time, broadband keeps dropping out and funnily enough i couldn't even call vodafone to complain. Finally got through and have currently been on hold for 53mins and 10sec. Foolishly i resigned with vodafone for another two years. I'm gonna fight tooth and nail to get out of this 6 day old contract!! Vodafone you suck!!!
11 Jan 2011 07:02:58 PM: Hang on, so all your problems have been in the last 6 days? They'd have to be if you were willing to resign a week ago I'd imagine otherwise why would you resign then complain now? Let me guess, you expect to keep the phone you just got right?

12096 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Reception at 11 Jan 2011 03:32:30 PM
FOR ANYONE IN CANBERRA, USE 2G NOT 3G (NOT DUAL MODE EITHER) IF YOU CAN NOT MAKE CALLS OR RECEIVE CALLS.
This is a temporary fix.
11 Jan 2011 07:51:56 PM: +1 This works a treat in Gungahlin. Have consistant reception on 2G with iphone4 and all calls and SMS come through as I was missing calls and delayed SMS with mid/full reception on 3G. Too right though about the temporary fix.
11 Jan 2011 11:44:07 PM: So, you've paid/are paying extra for a 3G phone, and the only way you can get some use out of it, is by using 2G, (and maybe next week a long piece of string)? Keep a record of how long you need to do this, because, I think you should get a reduction in your bills. And, I think, Vodafone/s tech records should show whether your calls, sms went through on the 2G network. You may have to get an identity thief to pull them out of the system.
12 Jan 2011 06:00:45 AM: Extra to use 3G? Lies. No reduction to your bill. Take any 'advice' you get on here with a grain of salt. However I'd clog up the customer care line more if I was you so you can ask but if you're expecting a yes answer...
16 Jan 2011 11:35:08 AM: @12 Jan 2011 08:00:45 AM: what a clever little Vodatroll."extra for a 3G phone" is different from "Extra to use 3G" ,as you well know.
"Take any 'advice' you get on here with a grain of salt." So, what first hand knowledge would prompt you to give that advice?

I live in Toowoomba Qld. In the middle of the flood crisis I have been without vodaphone reception for two days and there is still no sign of when its likely to return to "normal". In general the reception is poor to fair and I receive delayed text messages or none at all.
11 Jan 2011 04:06:34 PM: I feel sorry for you guys in Toowoomba and I know how you feel exactly...I am in Dalby and haven't had any service for 24 hrs now. I have no idea when I will get reception again..Nice paying for a service that isnt working!!

11 Jan 2011 05:35:23 PM: Glad your internet is working. Think of all the 1000s of people trying to call out at the same time as you. It's called congestion. Plus a Vodafone exchange has had flood damage in Brisbane which probably handles your traffic.

11 Jan 2011 07:00:35 PM: The TIO will NOT be able to assist you in the middle of a flood crisis. Power outages and flooding are not under Vodas control.
11 Jan 2011 09:02:49 PM:
11 Jan 2011 09:54:42 PM: I don't think congestion is the problem, more people would be with Optus and Telstra and they dont have problems...
12 Jan 2011 06:02:20 AM: Have you asked them?
12 Jan 2011 09:19:22 AM: Telstra is beginning to drop in service due to flooding OH MY THATS TERRIBLE I THOUGHT ONLY VODAFONE WOULD INTENTIONALLY FLOOD THEIR TOWERS TO RUIN EVERYONES LIFE. Everyone stop complaining about something that can happen to any phone company.

I can not receive phone calls or make phone calls. Same deal with texting.
It's either "CONNECTION ERROR" or "NETWORK BUSY". It's down right stupid.
I just came from 1 week in melbourne where the connection was perfectly fine, I come down to Canberra and I have been able to make ONE phone call for the past 3 days I've been back home.

12092 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Frustrating as f*** at 11 Jan 2011 03:22:09 PM
Issue 1: Poor customer service? Maybe not super poor, but less than ideal for sure.
Once my previous contract ended just midway through last year, I bought myself a handset from online (a Nexus One shipped from the States) and changed myself to a Sim-only cap which included 3G data allowance.
3G didn't work. The Vodafone dealer/reseller told me I needed a new sim (er... ok) so I go to the official brand store and wait in line forever (at least the chick who served me was polite enough) and I told them my problem and that I was told to get a new sim. No questions, suggestions, second opinions, just an "ah, ok" response and they gave me a new sim. Still no 3G. I thought my phone was faulty, but then I swapped sims with a friend with the same phone and that magically worked (although my sim f**ked his phone up momentarily). So I succumb to calling the call centre where the very helpful individual on the other end of the line informed me that data wasn't enabled on my account. They helped switch it on for me but they couldn't answer why it was disabled in the first place, despite my probing and cajoling. Although what I -really- enjoy is the fact that the staff in-store couldn't even take the initiative to solve the problem properly by checking my account options to see whether data was enabled in the first place.

Issue #2: Reception issues
I've had audio quality issues in the past (others not being able to hear me) and chalked it up to my handset (an original 1st gen iPhone). I changed my phone and plan, but since moving to my new place I've noticed a brand new set of reception issues. Nowadays, my phone calls often consist of the other person's voice cutting in and out such that I can't even follow what words they're saying, let alone piecing together a sentence, and eventually the call just drops out. The other person can hear everything I say, I just can't seem to hear them. In my unit this seems to happen 99.99% of the time. I play the walk-around-the-unit-repeating-"hello? hello? are you there?" game until I find a spot where I can start to hear them. It's not my handset, because it doesn't happen everywhere in the world/Sydney. It's not my unit, because everyone else who passes through my unit (including my housemates) are fine. I have to admit I was in denial at first, but now I'm pretty sure I'm a victim of sh*t poor service.
My family's mobile plans are all through the one Vodafone account which I manage. I can only hope that they aren't experiencing the same issues as I am because I loathe to think that our family is funding this freaking circus freak show that is Vodafone AU.

Issue #3: Security breach
Seriously. WTF. How stupid can you freaking be? Any and all breaches should be traceable because every single staff member should have a unique friggen login ID (amongst other authentication protocols). And high-turnover/low-level staffers should have the most limited access to personal information possible (if a mere dealer is responsible for such a serious breach, then it is most -definitely- the fault of Vodafone AU and its poor business/IT practices).
If there are indeed instances of "communal" login IDs in place at Vodafone branches/resellers/whatever, I don't see how changing the passwords every 24hrs is helping to track/isolate an offending employee/dealer who is using a login that is also used by n individuals (where n is > 1).

Issue #4: Lara
I hate automated phone menus which ask for verbal responses/cues. But my goodness, Lara is the ONLY one who makes me swear like a sailor within 20 seconds every freaking time I call. I feel very sorry for the individual behind Lara's voice. I just know that if I heard her on the street I'd instantly think of Lara and be like "F*ck f*ckity f*ck aarrrggghhhh!" and want to punch her in the face.
11 Jan 2011 04:28:37 PM: Check out the 'How To Complain' link at the top of the page. The TIO will no doubt be able to assist you
11 Jan 2011 05:28:57 PM: I think LARA is the same happy happy voiceover chick that does the voiceovers for ABC kids TV.
As with LARA for Vodafail, her voice drives me crazy with frustration when I try to lodge a call with VF customer service.

12091 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodafail is correct at 11 Jan 2011 03:21:29 PM
On Dec23rd 2010, I was on holiday in Northern Rivers area and went to use my laptop. What did I find, No signal at all. Rang Vodafone who told me I had used my allocation for that month. I told then I was on a rollover plan. I was told this when I signed up at there upstairs Vodafone shop at Kotara Fair shopping centre. (Newcastle NSW) I was informed by operator that the rollover was only for pre paid, not post paid (Plan).NOT WHAT I WAS TOLD AT SHOP.
After repeated calls to Vodafone, I then rang a phone number for a Vodafone shop at Kotara Fair, and put through to manager. He told me the upstairs shop was found to be using dodgy practices and had been closed down. I then rang Vodafone again and imagine my surprise when operator told me that I was reconnected and 2 months free service. I agreed to this. Later on, I was thinking that the operator was very quick to tell me I was reconnected and free 2 months. Can only deduct that it was put on my file for if I rang again. Any offers are usually made by a supervisor or above. Not the operator. Very Strange.????

I called Vodafone on Thursday morning to talk to someone about cancelling my account, the first time the signal cut out just as it connected! And I'm using 2G not 3G as it simply doesn't work in WA. Anyway, 2nd time I got through and was told that the cancellation department was busy but that she'd fill out a form and get someone to call me back in 24-48 hours. Well it's now Tuesday afternoon and still nothing, so I tried calling them, got all the way through to putting my pin in and a recorded message says "there has been a technical error, please hang up and try again" well I did try again but got the same thing even though I selected a different option. The stores say they can't do anything, so I'm left with no options!

Always long call queues, cannot download Bill, and simply very poor coverage at any of the major locations I spent time... thus texts never leave my phone, people call me when my phone "says I have coverage" and never get through (I find out through voicemail half a day later), and outgoing calls always get disconnected.
Customer care wants me to call them back to troubleshoot at the time I'm having problems... annoying because I can't unless I use another phone and am willing to wait forever to speak to someone.
