Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

5747 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Getting Worse at 28 Dec 2010 04:11:04 AM
I have been with Vodafail for many years , and initially , they were 100% better than the evil empire ( Telstra),but of late , their service is approaching 3rd world standards. It seems to me that high winds or wet weather totally disrupts their infrastructure. I drive long distance and used to enjoy good signals just about everywhere ( even across the Hay Plain). Now , I cant even maintain a call driving through Sydney without it suddenly disconnecting.

5746 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Dreadfull at 28 Dec 2010 03:59:19 AM
I was a "Three" customer with both broadband & my mobile (three were brilliant & I had no trouble). My Broadband expired in Nov 2010 & when I went to renew it I was told I had to change to Vodafone, because they had brought out "Three". I have had absolutely no end of trouble service. I could not get a signal & after going to the "Three" shop to complain, over 5 times, they gave me a Wi-Fi. I now am able to log on about 50% of the time at best. The 1300 help line is as good as useless, I have rang them countless times & never get anywhere. Vodafone should cancel my Broadband contract as they have completly failed to provide the service they promised. Hell could freeze over before I would renew my mobile with them as my "Three" mobile contract ends March 2011. I join anyone else with this complaint & thank god I have finally found out I am not alone. I would suggest Vodafone are the most incomentent company I have ever dealt with.

Our pre-paid mobile phones from time-to-time send multiple text messages. When you send a single text it actually can send multiple times and the only way you will know is when the person receiving the text lets you know they keep getting the damn thing non stop! Both our pre-paid phones have had this same issue and one Vodaphone shop we visited said they knew about the problem. We will be going to a new provider!!!!

5744 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Extremely at 28 Dec 2010 03:52:42 AM
I work in a hospital in Canberra and require reliable mobile connection for on-call duties. I cannot count the number of times when I have missed urgent calls due to a lack of reception and drop outs. The hospital relies on Optus and a number of clinicians us Telstra - they have not had similar issues. It's frustrating but the knowledge that I only have two months left on this third-world network provides me with some comfort. TH

5743 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is 3 out of 10 at 28 Dec 2010 03:44:44 AM
I live in Vic Park,an inner city suburb of Perth and often have low signal strength, due,I suspect, to Vodafone overselling phones and failing to upgrade its network.About a year ago I rang the Telephone Industry Ombudsman wanting to know if they monitored the Vodafone network utilisation(greater than 100% utilisation is bad) and they said NO.

I was in Power Industry and low voltage complaints were monitored by a Regulator, who demanded fixes, the same is needed for telco's.TIO gave me reference number of my complaint and told me to talk to Vodafone. When I did and quoted TIO number they told me that yes,the local network was "voverloaded" and an upgrade was in progress, but could not give delivery date.

My contract expires in July 2011,then I go to Telstra or Optus(have friends on both and they are happy, better coverage).

I have missed an improtant call for a job interview beacuse of it before. When ringing the helpdesk, after waiting for an hour on hold i get told that they are working on the problem but can give no timeframe of when it will be fixed. From Angus

5737 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is 100% FAIL BURGER at 28 Dec 2010 03:35:22 AM
vodafone charges me atleast 4 times for every message that i send... after a lot of hassle with their FAILBURGER website I managed to get ONE lot of call dates but every time I try to get anymore it simply download the same time frame again, no matter what time frame I put in (sticking to the date guidleines) it still will not show me anything other than one single section. I'm being completely ripped off not to mention have no access to my OWN call history not to mention the entire vodafone network completely fails all the time and leaves me with noooo service.. then they send a msg saying sorry!? ummmm so they can screw up my entire day because of their service fail and then send a msg saying sorry and we're all peaches... not cool.
28 Dec 2010 03:47:31 AM: same here QLD.... it's all talk and no refund offer or anything like that... their own systems are majorly malfunctioning and they think a simple "we're sorry" is going to cut it. not a chance vodafone. I want to see an apology in the form of $$$$

I signed up with 3 a few years ago and they use vodafone. I was told i could get speeds of up to 1.5Mbps during times when there wasn't many people on. I was promised by the sales lady that i would be getting speeds of 200 - 500Kbps on an average day but i have never had those speeds. I emailed 3 about it and got no reply so i called them and was told that the slow download speed was due to the amount of users in my area. I call bullshit and want what i was promised.

5725 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Absolute Pits at 28 Dec 2010 02:36:49 AM
I am now overseas, but I had the worse experience with Vodafone since their stupid merge with 3, ACCC hear this: you should never had approved this. The Australian public hates it. I had been with Vodafone for quite some time now, from the days they had the Metro Wireless plans and then they sold it to Iburst who disappeared and then I am back with Vodafone again since they agressively sold their data services. However I have a voice service with them too.All up I have 3 connections with them, 1 voice and 2 data.
Last month, I remembered I had no data service for a whole 10 days!!!! It was EDGE and then nothing!!
I thought I paid for a 3G service? Their customer service is pathetically overseas, condescendingly gave me a 3rd degree as if I do not know apples from orange after having their service for nearly 3 years now. Even their Australian call centre staff are no better, I had billing issues where they also talk to me in condescending manner and would not offer to help and refused to put me to a manager when I ask for one, The call centre staff (when this was in Australia) told me their managers never ever talk to customers. Also, they never call you back on any issues, the staff told me they are prohibited from making calls to customers as they only take calls coming in so they insist I call them back wait in queue and jam their lines to get updates on my problems. What sort of phone company is this where the staff are not allowed to call the customers to update the customers on a problem they need to solve in the first place? They also made so many errors in my bills for so many months it's not even funny. Also in the past, 2 phones they sent to me were lost in the mail and they refused to believe me even after the courier company told me it was lost, they insist that I wait 4 to 6 weeks to prove that it was truly lost when they could have just called the courier company to ask and they refused but kept challenging me.
Back to the most recent problems, my calls was cut out for no reason in the middle of a conversation and I was thinking it was my phone when indeed now it is a fact that it was Vodafone all this time, very sneaky, never tell the truth. Vodafone, stop lying to people and stop pretending this is something that will go away and stop teaching your staff to be rude to customers when your staff could not handle a problem, which is most of the time; Vodafone's own doing. Also teach your staff never to hang up on a customer. I had calls I made to their call centre, where after waiting and explaining the issues, half way thru, the call was conveniently hung up and they never call you back even though they know how to reach you.

Vodafone, what a load of shit.

I live in an Keperra, an area that has been around for quite some time here in Brisbane. I have had a contract for 18 months and that entire time, I have not had reception at home. It will float in and I will get an SMS, but if I try and reply, the reception fails and I have to go for a walk along the road to send it. Same for phone calls... People think I am ignoring them but the phone doesn't ring because it doesn't connect.

Mobile internet is a farce. I try to search for something a browser on my phone and but can take forever and that's when I'm in the Brisbane CBD. I used to have Vodafone in NZ when it was good, in Australia, it's just crap. I have 6 months more to endure in my 2 years contract and then I am out of here.

5722 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is ENORMOUSLY FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 02:29:44 AM
I was one of those noisy customers who complained to the ombudsman. And was released from my 24 month contract with 23 months remaining. Still, this was no easy task. Initally my phone was set up incorrectly and the number only 1/2 ported. Not being the phone guru I can't supply full detail but I was left with no phone for about 48 hours. I did buy a telstra prepaid card to call "Lara" who told me too many times int he 45 min average on hold that I was important and my call would be answered shortly. Eventually that issue was sorted. - then my usb inter. net and phone reception went - same time, same day. More chats with Lara - only to be told eventually it must be my sim. Funny - 2 at once! More trips to the store where the staff just get to ring Lara.
This is a super abreviated version - It was too long and boring and orderal - but NEVER AGAIN VODAFONE. Note that my reception issues were in Port Melbourne. under 5 km from Melbourne CBD. At least I escaped!
28 Dec 2010 02:38:36 AM: unfortunately stories like this are long and could take up hours of writing... but this IS the place to air your grievances, I've been reading 100's of stories and I can finally say to myself 'at least I'm not alone anymore'. vodafone actually made me cry one morning, it made me feel sick.

Thank you so so much for making this site. I have lost significant amounts of time and income, as well as having endured extreme frustration as a direct result of the unacceptably poor "service" provided by Vodafone. The call drop outs and lags in relaying voicemail and SMS is pathetic. My iPhone 4 (with a brand new Sim card - thank you very much!!!) is often reduced to an expensive brick because of Vodafone. It even drops out when you call the help line, and after a thirty minute wait on hold, no one calls you back. This is INEXCUSABLE for a gigantic company that is charging me over $100 per month! Let me know if a class action takes place, as I will be very interested in pursuing them.

I can't see how much of my 6GB allowance I have used on my phone plan... I haven't been able to get ANY type of allowance usage for 3 weeks now. which means I am UNABLE to see when I am about to go over my allowance. When I called INDIA and asked them what could be done they replied with "nothing sir". I asked them what would happen if I went over my allowance due to Vodafone System Malfunction... their reply you ask?? "you will be charged per MB over your allowance, that is correct sir" I asked them would I get a refund? their re-ply "Not at this stage, no sir" I emailed Vodafone through their email service and I got a basic reply "We will not credit any over usage, but here is $50 for your next 2 bills just in case... call us when your bill comes in if you have any other issues" I tell you what guys... the next call Vodafone is getting from me will be from my TIO representative. ABSOLUTELY ROPABLE, disgusted, never ever again vodafone. pick up your game.

5716 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is What coverage? at 28 Dec 2010 02:25:00 AM
Vodafone coverage is so poor that they should be required to warn all potential purchasers that they will receive only minimal coverage and service with this carrier. To suggest that Vodafone offers a service that works - even in sight of Melbourne CBD - is misleading conduct. Trying to deal with them to end my prepaid contract was joke, made harder by the call dropouts as they tried to convince me to stay.
28 Dec 2010 02:29:47 AM: They are cost cutting left right and centre. I live less then 15km from Brisbane CBD and I get 1 bar of signal at best... what is this vodafone, a third world country? get ya act together already!

5715 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is Complete at 28 Dec 2010 02:12:21 AM
I was using Vodafone for years for my mobile and when I got a laptop, I bought a donlge and signed up to Vodafone internet at the beginning of 2008. Now I was living in country WA and I knew it wasn't going to be perfect reception all the time but I was told that if my mobile received reception, then the internet would also. For the first year, it was satisfactory. It did cut out and was slightly slower but I was able to get my work done (I did some marketing consulting from a home office and was doing a Post-grad degree via e-learning). However, in the second year, it started cutting out completely and I rarely had reception, even on when I was in Perth, where the 3G network was supposed to be working. It was ridiculous. I tried calling to complain and get it sorted but was only offered a refund for one month. In the end, I only had a few months till my contract was up and chose to grin and bare the charge each month and instead went to a cafe with wifi twice a week for a few hours to get what I needed done. My contract ended and I did not renew and will never use Vodafone internet again.
5 Jan 2011 08:23:22 PM: i am feeling your pain, i also live in regional WA and vodafone was good here for the first 6 months, then the speed and service went downhill VERY quickly. Where i used to get HSDPA, i now get EDGE/GPRS and the drop outs are ridiculus... it has dropped out 6 times in 10 minutes and then it 'Conects' without problem...
i am going to ring vodafone on the 6th and see what it is, but if they say 'move around for service' i will be seeing red, and the person who told me that will regret it.

I have been a vodafone Customer for 8 years, I regretably just signed another 2 years (Iphone 4... can't blame me) and they were ok up until about a month ago... now there is NO customer service in Australia anymore.... AT ALL!! nothing!!! all customer support is now offshore... don't get me wrong, they try their hardest to help you but they CANNOT 'understand' you... they understand words and their meanings but they don't 'understand' what you are asking most of the time. I will leave vodafone if this keeps up
28 Dec 2010 06:00:44 AM: That's because they are READING ALL THEIR ANSWERS FROM A LAMINATED CARD! They have NO IDEA what your problem is, they recite some rubbish they are told to recite AND HOPE YOU GO AWAY! Often they answer completely unrelated problems you didn't even ASK about! They are nothing but trained monkeys, and the sooner Vodafone and OTHER AUSTRALIAN COMPANIES , hire on technical support staff WITH A BRAIN... THE BETTER! OOPS that might mean paying REAL WAGES... can't have THAT!

5713 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is MEGAFAIL! at 28 Dec 2010 02:10:50 AM
1)Constant drop outs, often running into double digits PER HOUR!! 2)Periods where the phone is "locked out" ie no one can call me (goes straight to voicemail) and I cant call out, despite full reception - I shudder to think what I would do if that occurred during an emergency! 3)Catastrophically delayed relay of voicemail messages, sometimes by as much as 24 hours! 4)Constantly slow or completely ineffectual 3G services. 5)I have lost business, looked unprofessional in front of clients & been extremely inconvenienced by all this. All I get is ineptitude and the infuriatingly ineffectual Lara when I call to complain. What am I paying in excess of $100 a month for? I will leave and NEVER come back once my contract is done, and I am telling every client, associate, friend and family member just how pathetic and woeful Vodafone have become.

Vodaphone customer service is just as useless in NZ, they sold me a mobile phone and the opera browser on it didn't work, despite downloading the program again it still didn't work, having downloaded a few things off their site onto my phone and showing it to the Representative at the shop, they told me to reset the phone, the result was that it deleted everything off my phone, and when I said it didn't work and I lost everything their reply was near enough "sorry we can't help you, we can send it to the factory and it will cost $50 to look at it", not sure what it's like in Aussie. But I have left the network and its high call and data rates, and have never looked back, nothing but money leaches. :D

(Mobile)Poor network coverage. Bad reception and did not notify us when there will be an network shutdown for upgrade. (MOBILE BROADBAND) Get a ridiculous monthly bills. Was on cap mobile internet plan $49. I watch my data download. Even exceed the 6GB max allowance it could'nt have been $1100 for expense. I got charged 3 times that amount the last 2 years.$700 twice last year. No way i could use $1000+ a month for data. Have to call up all the times to clear it out. How stupid can vodafone's PC gets? Fix it fix it and stop telling me it will not happen. It did again! fix it!
28 Dec 2010 02:53:45 AM: OMG this is happening to me right now (not to that extreem though).. 5710 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Completely unreliable at 28 Dec 2010 02:06:27 AM
For the past nine months it's been an absolutely appalling experience trying to use my phone. 75% of all calls drop out at some point, half of those drop out in the first 10 seconds. Internet is completely unreliable, taking over 3 minutes to load the vodafone homepage on my iphone is an ironic example. I have spent hours on hold trying to talk to vodafone about it, most occasions I don't get through at all. It has even dropped out when I'm speaking to a vodafone rep several times and they have never called me back.
I've lost thousands of dollars worth of potential income as a result, and have had enormous strain put on my relationship. I'll be seeking compensation for both loss of work, and mental damages.
5 Jan 2011 09:38:18 AM: You poor baby..
10 Jan 2011 07:10:53 PM: I would too! It rediculous that they can get away with this! I'm going through the TIO right now because Vodafone is unreachable for me.

I have the same problems with calls to customer service continually dropping out. You wait 45 mins and then when someone answers they get as far as "Hi my name is ****" and then the call drops out.

Oh and I love it when they launch an "investigation". They say they'll ring you back in five days when what they really mean is wait for ten days before someone rings up and says "How is this problem going?".

Not acceptable Vodafone.

vodafone, drops out at traffic lights, red light cameras, speed cameras, nil reception inside the home, have to walk the streets find reception. all began for me about four to six weeks before christmas last year and got worse since. i find bad weather is good for my reception, sometimes to the point that it does not drop out where in fine weather it is guaranteed to drop out.security cameras nock it off signal. within fifty meters of the phone tower and still lousy reception, too close you think. not so drops out a klm or more 98% guaranteed. two cans and a piece of string would give a better reception. before christmas last year i had great reception and it is as if they cut the signal strength by more than half. a job for Kevin 07 to issue refunds and a new phone for pain and suffering

bought a prepaid internet connection from vodaphone over 18mths ago. The sales rep that sold it to me told me it was fast and reliable and when i asked her if my area had got coverage and telling her where i lived (which is less than a km away from that particular store) she convincingly assured me i would have "great" reception, she then went on to say that a new tower was being built right in my area so if i had trouble it would definately be perfect in a month or so which must be some BS line they try and sell you with. No tower has been put up, and after going back again and again i am told there is nothing that can be done about my bogus buy. Calls won't go through. Try 5-10 times to get a connection. Call drops out after 10 seconds. Vmails and texts come though much later than they were sent. Tried to call 1555 but on hold for ages, then drops out and have to call back AGAIN! This service is useless for me and my wife. We are both on $114 per month plans too which is woeful.

Let me know if there is a class action.

5703 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is so fail I am considering breaking out the old cans-and-string at 28 Dec 2010 01:55:46 AM
Seriously, It seems like this network is actually getting worse! How many new towers have been constructed over the last couple of years? My guess is none, in fact I think they may have knocked a few down. I regularly catch trains and buses, and on my regular journeys (mostly between Brisbane and the gold coast), at least 60% of the trip is completely no reception, 75% is completely no data reception, and 90-95% is zero bars and extremely poor to no data reception.

I can't take it any more. I get zero bars in my own home, in an inner Brisbane suburb. These are not 'intermittent issues being experienced lately' as Vodafone likes to think, the network is just shit, and is not built for modern phones. It needs serious dramatic improvement before I will consider renewing any contracts, and I already feel very mislead and ripped off.

I live on the east side of a mountain just 75 km from Sydney CBD. I can stand in my loungeroom and watch aircraft arrive and depart Sydney airport. But my mobile phone is useless from this location. Botswanna have a better mobile service than we have here in Australia. ALL our Telco's only concentrate on where the big $'s for them are and don't care about any area that is less than high density. We in Australia have a 4th world service but are forced to pay the highest rates in the world. Let's all rebel and do something about this sham.

I was with Vodafone a few months ago, I barely ever had reception with 3G turned off, when I turned 3G on, I was lucky to even have a bar.

As soon as my contract was up I went over to Telstra and since then I've never been below 4 bars, both with 3G on and off.

I thought it was quite funny when Vodafone sent letters asking to resign with them before the contract term was up.

Purchased a brand new Nokia from Vodaphone 3-4 months ago -after giving my old phone away which was again Vodafone thinking its the phone that had the problem. Same problems. NOT JUST ME WITH THE NEW VODAFONE BUT MY HUSBAND AND MY DAUGHTER - HUNDREDS $$$$$ WE PAY EVERY MONTH. Thank goodness for this site but i doubt anyone will listen - talking to ourselves as usual - I guess it is better than having to wait for someone to answer the Vodafone customer service line - or maybe they cant hear it ringing due to reception they are experiencing - with the average waiting time we experienced is no less than 25 minutes... At least we know now its not our phones that have the problem and we can now change provider.
VERY DISAPPOINTED and Extremely angry - the least they could do is answer the phone and tell everyone they have issues - rather than have everyone suffer and pay. Good luck to all of us fools just write it all down and at least we now know - we are not alone...

Depending on the weather conditions... We have either no or very limited vodafone reception when at home. If we need to use our mobiles we have to walk up the street 500mtrs to higher ground and away from the trees in order to use them. On a good day the mobile will ring when at home but to answer we have to run around outside to find a 1 bar only strength reception.
ALSO
Recently travelled to country Vic and Vodafone failed 20 klms north of Ballarat, no reception whatsoever for the week... Total crap and most frustrating.

vodafone cannot seem to supply me with an adequate 3G (or even GSM for that matter) connection at my home and surrounding areas of ellenbrook (postcode: 6069) in perth. ellenbrook is only 21km north of preth CBD and with a reported current population of 25,000 including the 3 smaller surrounding suburbs. and with a current estimated population for 2016 of 37,150. (not small)

i find myself having to walk around the house waving my phone in there air just to try and get any kind of signal... making phone calls is almost impossible when you can actually get some reception due to the fact it will continuously drop out.. all other major network providers who my freinds are intelligently with dont have a problem and will often hold a minimum of 3 to 4 bars of 3G connection at all times in the same home. i have expereinced problems all throughout the suburb in other mates homes too. its appaling that such a major suburb has such terrible vodafone service/reception. the worst part is i only signed to the contract about a month before moving out here... without any knowledge of vodafone being useless. cheers for letting me vent

"Phone isnt picking up reception" Have u taken your sim card out and put it back in or turned your phone off?

"Im not getting messages or cant send...." Have u checked ure settings?

All phone compaines has waiting times when u call thru to customer care... Ure in a queue DUMBASS!!"

Your phone was cut out for a day.. lets all go jump off a bridge because my phone is not working!!!

Last words... all your complaints on here are all stupid....

HA! yeh sure now i actually get reception (please note extreem sarcasm) bugger off!
28 Dec 2010 01:31:57 AM: haha sounds like you work for vodafone coz thats the crap they tell you to do before they have actually to think about a solution. Dont you think we would do all your suggestions before calling to be put on hold for over an hour and who is the stupid one posting if your satisfied with vodafone!
28 Dec 2010 01:33:31 AM: Then you must be the stupid one to come to this site to read other people complaints to begin with?????
After all, you are no different to anyone who wrote their opinion here...
28 Dec 2010 01:45:44 AM: Yes people ARE that dumb.... Bit testy there aint ya? hahahaha why dont u just leave Vodafone if ure that passionate about it?
28 Dec 2010 02:43:40 AM: guys this dikhead is in relationship with LARA THATS y he is piking on customers covering her arse
28 Dec 2010 04:51:59 AM: The one point I'll give this guy is that although Vodaphone is up where with the worst servers the sad reality is that the ENTIRE system of mobile phone servicing is crap worldwide and the hoods are making buckets of money out of it

You just cannot seem to get a simple up-front TELEPHONE and DATA service. What you end up with is childish exploitative "plans" aimed at deceiving the user and ripping off his money

We need government legislation that forces every server to offer a basic plan at a regulated use-based price. If they want to offer other plans that is fine but a proper communications network is NOT a luxury - nor is it a child's toy - or a means of "respectable" exploitation handed to organised crime on a plate
28 Dec 2010 07:23:21 AM: Q. Have u taken your sim card out and put it back in or turned your phone off?
A. My car is also running poorly. I will try taking the engine out and replacing it. Thanks for the tip genius. Why on earth should I have to do that on an HOURLY basis just to get reception back.

Q. Have u checked ure (sic) settings?
A. Gee, no. I just stood there are stared at the phone and hoped that it would work. Customer service answer at its best there! Next you will be telling me to "jiggle the cable".

Q. Ure in a queue DUMBASS!!
A. Nobody in a developed country should wait in a queue for 30 hours - unless you are calling a "less developed" country where the call centre is located. The reason the queue is so long is because their are so many issues DUMBASS!!

Q. Your phone was cut out for a day.. lets all go jump off a bridge because my phone is not working!!!
A. Have you ever considered that some people use their phone as their livelihood - like myself as an on-call doctor? Let's hope that none of your family ever need my services and their lives depend on it because, well, hey, I won't be contactable.

"Last words" - I read comments from persons like you and understand why some animal species eat their young at birth, and wish you're parents did the same...

28 Dec 2010 01:40:21 PM: so what your saying is that all other satisfyed customer using other service providers are ''restarting'' their mini computers daily, taking out their sim cards and constantly turning on and off their phones....I THINK NOT!

I have been a loyal vodafone prepaid customer for about 10 years and honestly i dont know why im still with them, i have noticed more recently vodafone is consistantly going down hill. I recharge with $49.00 each fortnight so its pretty obvious they profit from my dislike of bills. Their customer service is an absolute joke, only last week i had to call them waiting for 115minutes to speak to someone be told by the representative i would be paying for the call. Prior to calling i waited in a vodafone shop for 30mins to be told sorry we cant access your details in store you have to call. F**kin annoying!! Love how they had the nerve to send a text apologising for network problems the other Saturday...5 days later with no mention of the free call compensation. The internet data service is unreliable, calls always drop out and the 'vodafone to vodafone' they promote is utter bullshit. Vodafone pick up your act & start showing some loyality back to your customers!!!!
28 Dec 2010 01:25:47 AM: Calling customer care is free you dont get charged...

28 Dec 2010 01:37:44 AM: 1300 is a free call...
28 Dec 2010 01:38:37 AM: I rather PAY to call them if they will answer the call within 5 mins.

I have vodafone prepaid. I have had several issues over the past 2 years, mostly in the last 6 months. these issues have included, but arent limited to: not receiving any texts for 48 hrs, then receiving them all at once, despite having reception the entire time, being able to send texts, and rebooting my phone; poor/no network coverage despite the fact i live very close to melbourne cbd; and the most annoying: one day i sent a text, then got a reply from my friend asking why i had sent multiple texts (about 6). this happened with others throughout the day - some texts going to the same person up to a dozen times. when i called vodafone to sort the issue out, they replied that they had network problems and were working to resolve it. when i asked if i was being charged for the multiple texts, they replied that i was, and that i would have to call them back once they have fixed the problem to (somehow) be reimbursed. i dont see why it should be MY responsibility to resolve this issue. a) HOW would i ever know when vodafone had resolved their internal issue?! and b) i DONT want to wait on hold AGAIN just to talk to a foreign operator who cannot understand me. i wasted a prepaid card that day. i have already been considering switching providers, and now after seeing how many others are disgruntled, i WILL be. I guess I am a bit luckier than some of the people who wrote on this website.
What happen was I was 3 months away of finishing my contract in Dec 10. I called up Vodafone to ask them any special procedures to stop the service as soon as the contract ended. The first call I made, I have waited over 2 hours (Luck that I used the fixed line with hands free, otherwise I would have hang up in 30 mins. Then tried again and this time 45 mins with no success and I gave up. I then use the contact us (email) from their website to have them cancel my service as soon as my contract finish and make a complaint of their so called customer service. A week later someone from Vodafone contacted me regarding the email complaint and tried to sell me another contract quoting that they can give me a good deal (3 months free access, free "cheap phone", free delivery etc which all providers were offering the same or even better at that time). So I told her I rather go to 3 (now also own by Vodafone) at least 3 customer services pick up their calls in minutes or even less (surely will change in the future). Today, I am so happy to receive my very last bill. I am now with Virgin big cap $29, getting $450 and 200 MB and a free phone that Vodafone told me NO WAY they can give me that phone for free on a $29 cap plan!! By the way Virgin picks up my calls in less than 1 minute...tried few times to ensure I don't get myself into another trap!!

Just got a brand spanking new iPhone 4 on Christmas Eve with all the bells and whistles and a substantial mobile internet data plan- one that I can't use and that they are happily charging me for! Now I am not an idiot, I reset the phone, re-inserted the sim, installed the updates blah blah blah- the phone is fine.
I decided to bypass the multiple hour wait in the call centre and go straight to a store, after them fumbling around and discovering their store sim worked in my phone, I was then told that due to the overwhelming amount of new customers in the Christmas period it would take around a week to get some internet on this thing! Yet I am paying for a service that apparently provides internet!? It just doesn't make sense and I can't be running around trying to find wi-fi all the time, an iPhone without internet is just redundant.
28 Dec 2010 01:28:19 AM: bring it into another store they can add internet on it through the system.

Living on the Gold Coast you would think that reception is not a problem... I had to connect a home phone as I seem to live in a black hole, actually I also seem to work in a black hole (no reception at all). It's not like I live out in the sticks, everyone else with other providers have no problems at all.

5668 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is extremely at 28 Dec 2010 12:40:05 AM
as vodafone customers of 12 years or more, we have found the service to be really disgusting in regards to coverage within country areas and sometimes you do not have to be in a country area, we had spent a week in the town of 1770 for a holiday , as to our disgust we had no service in the 1770 area now this is a coastal town where you would expect phone coverage as optus and telstra had coverage as w had friends that were in the same caravan park and they had reception as we never. even when we had travelled from 1770 to gladstone for a day outing we still had no coverage with our vodafone service if you could call it service, we have even been driving on the sunshine coast in between Nambour and Maroochydore and have been having a conversation and the service would drop out and mind to say that is still doing this to this day.

About two months ago, I paid my account and i had over paid the account by $1700 by the slip of a finger and pushing the wrong number when confirming details via the bpay system, once i had realised what i had done, i ieadiately started to panick I then contacted the Vodafone customer service and what do you know there was no helpful service, what ever happened to keeping the customer happy. I had explained what had happened to the customer service member and they had told me to contact my bank, so I did this immeadiately and my banking institution Replied back to me that once the transaction takes place via bpay that they are not ab;e to stop the transaction from going through and they then proceeded to say to contact Vodafone back and request that the overpayment be reimbursed back to us.

So as you would expect i returned the call back to Vodafone, they then proceeded to tell me that they could not put the money back into the account as it would take 24 - 48 hrs to do this, but before this could happen I would need to fax the vodafone office a copy of our Bank statement to show that the money had definiately had came from our account, I then explained to them that our Bank statements only came every quarter and it was only the beginning of the quarter as it was september and we would not recieve a bank statement for another 2- 3 months and that it was a weekend as it was a friday that i had overpaided the account, but to no avail they were not going to help with this situation. so on an unhappy note to the end of the conversation with the vodafone customer service i explained that i was not happy with theyre explaination as to why they could not pay our money back into our bank account even when i was able to,provide them with all of the relevant banking details as to what account the money had come out of and our vodafone details as to our vodafone account details they still did not budge from the fact that they wanted the bank statement faxed to them.

my next few words with them was that i was going to take it the the Telecommunications ombudsman, of our state, they still did not budge but the next day my husband had recieved a phone call from vodafone and they had said that they would be sending a bank cheque to us for the overpayment and this would take any where from 2 - 5 working business days to acheive even though we had paid it by bpay we still had to wait for the cheque. It then proceeded to be a further 3 weeks before we had recieved the cheque from vodafone.

we then proceeded about 8-10 weeks ago we had requested for our contract to be cancelled as we where not happy with the service provided by vodafone we have a short time left with vodafone on our contracts and we are wishing to have them cancelled, and as you can imagine we are still waiting to hear back from vodafone in regards to our contracts as they were having to do an investigation into our allegations against them as a provider of our service, which there is no service from vodafone if anyone was to ask me about the vodafone service i would be saying to them to really think long and hard about going with the company vodafone before they sign a contract with them. as you can see we have not had a great experience with vodafonein the 10 - 12 years that we have had our 2 mobile phones with them. signed disgruntelled vodafone customer

My friend sign a contract for iPhone with Vodafone... It is very sad to see that when she needs to use the google maps or browse the internet she cannot do anything because of vodafone "3G" internet is sh***t. Also we had many drop calls. I using other second biggest provider in Australia and very happy with connection and customers service. We also compare with her quality of connection by calling to one company's call centre by usin my and her phone. You can try. Same call centre (try some company), same place (centre of City) but different mobile providers.. a big difference! Australian government, please protect consumers from this poor Vodafone service... P.S.: Sorry for my English, it is not my native language.

useless network, constant drop outs [every phone call] i keep calling people back every 2 minutes to finish the call, it's costing my business! the other problem is that people can't get through to me, they say my phone has been off for days, and i didn't find out through vodafone but through my emails. So my conclusion is that: keeping the phone on or off does not make any difference to me!! and it does not make any difference to vodafone either because they will send me the bill at the end of the month!!

5663 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Switch Carrier at 28 Dec 2010 12:34:32 AM
I live in regional Vic and up until August 2009, I was with Vodafone. As Metropolitan areas are now discovering, regional Vic has been suffering non existent coverage for some time. The final act for myself came when speaking with a Customer Service Representative. I complained that I had zero signal out of doors and never had any 3G coverage. His response was that they (Vodafone) don't see regional centers as important to their business and had no immediate plans on improving the service to these areas. To say I was dumb struck is an understatement. Realised then that this company does not value all of it's customers. Having three months left on my contract, I unlocked my phone, sold it and threw away the sim. I paid the remaining months as normal and contracted to another carrier. With recent revelations, it has become quite evident that Vodafone treat all of their customers with contempt and the best remedy towards a company like this is to walk away. I will never use their service again and hope others do the same. Jurgen

being charged for using internet on phone when I have NEVER connected to the internet on my phone. times range from mins to 6 hours. charged from $2.49 to over $15.00 (these come off my entitlements) rang vodafone, waited 50 mins on phone B4 they answered. couldnt tell me how this could happen (had same problem with Optus prepaid)no choice but to cut off internet access to my phone, which isnt fair to me, coz they cant do anything about it coz its coming from my phone. now I do not have the right to use it if/when i need it. I asked them plainly.. is someone hacking my phone or are you guys charging me for a service I dont use.. was told that people cant hack into phones and that vodafone never charges for something if you dont use it and the only thing to do is cut of internet access to my phone... I asked if this has ever happened before and then she pretended she couldnt hear me and that something was wrong with the phone. she kept on saying "hello, hello are you there. I had to hang up. she called me back on my cellphone but I forgot to ask her the question again.. any thoughts. thanks
28 Dec 2010 12:39:07 AM: we as vodafone customers had the same experience with them we had phone bill that had stated that we had been accessing the download for ringtones now it was my husbands work phone and he is not really literate to the way that you can buy online downloads and this had cost us over 2 months $60 in total and then there was another time that we had overseas calls logged on his work mobile and we did not have anyone overseas to speak top and that we had not made the calls so we called customer service and as you can imagine they said that they would look into this natter and get back to us in regards to the overseas calls and no we have never heard back from vodafone inregards to these calls and you can imagine that we have paid for that account and have never received the call back or the money for those calls.

5 Jun 2011 01:13:56 PM: How do I know what areas have mobile coverage?

Mobile phone service providers have coverage maps available from their point of sale locations, and upon request. All the carriers (Optus, Telstra and VHA) have good coverage in the major population centres, but in regional areas only one or two of these are likely to provide sufficient network coverage.

that paragraph definitely needs to be updated. Vodafone has little to no reliable coverage in almost all areas, and even worse in metro melbourne, syd and brisbane, let alone in rural areas.

I live close to Perth city, only about 10 minutes away, and I cannot get stable reception.

I say stable for a reason. If my phone was just dropping out every now and again in country areas or something it wouldn't be as much of a problem. But it everywhere. One minute my reception is fine, then, without warning it'll just drop out and cut me off.

The worst point seems to be in my house. All of my friends have perfect reception at my place, its just me! And surprise surprise, I'm the only one with Vodafone.

I tried calling Vodafone a couple of times, but after the first 20 or so minutes of bad crackly music and having to dart around the house so my phone didn't drop out I gave up.

All I know is when my contract comes up for renewal, bye bye vodafail.

i was in the hospital for amost three weeks with my premmie son and i could only send text messages if i raised my arms as high as i could. i very rarely could make a call. i blame vodafone for alot of my distress at the time of my sons birth.

Prepaid broadband (Mobile and USB) - never seen the connection bar go beyond 3bars
Tried calling vodafone to configure my internet again, spent hours on the phone with vodafone support with the phone finally not able to even recognise any network and completely locked out - thanks to the earth shattering level of support to completely ruin the phone settings. also vodafone asking me to call back next day to get the issue resolved as they din't have an immediate solution.

Finally had to format the phone and lost all data before getting it to recognise the network - all on my own by reading from the internet.

But I seem to notice these issues only for the last 6 months - prior to that it was all fine.

As for the waiting on the line for 20 minutes to get through to a customer service representative its a ploy by big business to make sure you really want to complain or give them the flick, most people get sick of waiting and just give up.
