Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

Data usage, and download usage. Many bills that are wrong and who refunds for games I did not download. I have a Satio which is hard to gt games for, yet for the first few bills I had several charged and the cap was wrong. A person told me to bring them in and she'd see what she could do - but it seemed all too hard. I'd paid the bills months before. Vodafone staff told me to ringh thes number, that number over the games downloads. I just paid it or would be cut off. I am tired of bad reception & not connecting for data. The vodafone website is a "hit and miss" if it works. I think their caps are o.k. - I have been with Vodafone for approx 10 years - its not better or worse. Which is sad. The Infinity caps are good, but you pay for 13 or voicemail calls. But still they have the best caps.

2840 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is fixed at 27 Dec 2010 02:41:00 PM
Using vodafone for work has left me constantly without service. On the Gold Coastyou can not hold a conversation for longer than 2 minutes. often calls dont even ring and just hit message bank 24 hours later. This means I am constantly have to call people back. And 3G? what a joke. I have yet to complete one task on my phone via 3G. Cant believe they can sell it! However, I found the one fix and left - breaking contract but I'd rather waste that money and get a proper service than keep putting up with the rubbish!!

I recently signed up to Vodaphone after being with Optus for years, I was told at the time of signing up that Vodafone has better coverage than any other network. Definitely not the case!
27 Dec 2010 03:38:30 PM: You can break the contract. Tell them you are going to contact the Telecommunications ombudsmen and lodge a complaint for failing to provide the service you signed up for. Also quote them "IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO ENTER INTO A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT IF YOU CAN NOT LIVE UP TO THE SERVICE DESCRIBED"

2 months ago I bought a $99 vodafone wireless dongle with 6 gig to use over 12 months at home. It rarely ever connects to the 3G network and always drops off to the GPRS network which is slower than dial up. My house mate has optus wireless with perfect connection and my iPhone has full 3G connection from Three. Now I thought Three and vodafone used the same 3G network which is run off the optus 3G network. So I don't understand why my voda dongle can't even get 1 bar on the 3G network. What a f*cking waste of money and time waiting for pages to load. Not happy

You seriously need to get a life people. Tell me one technology that is 100% perfect ??? I've had contracts with all major carriers and they've all have one fault with something. Cant believe your actually wasting your time creating such website. What next ? Floptus.com ?
20 Jan 2011 02:04:33 PM: Read the complaints. Wrongful and extortionary billing isn't really a technology problem.
Persistant misleading and deceptive advertising and practices isn't aa technology problem.
Dogged lies being spouted by staff is not a technology problem.
Original Poster-you'll never read this because you'll be having your life, right?

2829 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is staff are assholes! at 27 Dec 2010 02:37:23 PM
Im not sure if it is just me that gets the rude staff or if you have all had to deal with it too?! i mean i go in there with a smile and i expect the same i dont go in ranting and raving like i could do because this is a joke but i am nice and get the most horrible unsupportive and unhelpful response!
I have sent one of my phones back 7 times! 7times before they sent me a new one (once i had called and lost my cool) and then they CHARGE ME!! to send me the new phone! i went in once to hand it back in (still not being fixed) and they told me that the battery was flat... if they had of taken the time to listen to me it was the battery was swapped whilst in repair and this one DID NOT WORK!! i wasn't paying for a new battery when the one i sent it away with was perfectly fine! and another time i was waiting for a phone to be repaired i had a text message saying it was back in store (i live an hour away from the closest store) so i made my way in only to be told they had not recieved my phone it was a mistake! oops on their behalf! dont bother to call me and tell me that it wasn't in do you vodaphone?! nooooo.....
so recently i have got a black berry im on my 3rd in as many months, i dont do anything to these phones i mean i dont drop them etc and it is in a protective case at all times but i swear they have shit phones they are giving us.. this recent blackberry has made it past the week trial period i give it but at this stage i am not expecting too much i spend $114 a month for a service i dont really get and $29.95 a month for internet that is too slow and doesn't connect too often so i dont use it... try explaining that to a vodaphone employee that doesn't want to listen to you! JUST GIVE US A BREAK!!

2828 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Complete waste of time at 27 Dec 2010 02:36:58 PM
Paying for a service I can rarely use, one bar two at most if Im lucky, but only if I'm standing outside in a certain spot on the deck - great in cold, wind and rain!
Cannot get online, upload, download its just not happening no matter where I am in Hobart metro.

Often miss calls or messages due to no reception.

Out and about in Hobart reception varies from 0 bars to 3 bars max (if the weather is nice)and always dropping in and out.

Stuck in a contract and tired of fighting big companies who take your money, tie you in and you cant get out without a huge amount of hassle, time, writing, calling, being pushed from one dept to another, and on and on it goes.

2827 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ABSOLUTE CRAP at 27 Dec 2010 02:36:47 PM
I signed up to a Vodafone Contract in JULY 2009 with the purchase of an iPhone 3GS. In the first week I noticed that I did have better reception at home the 3, which is the bottom of the pit of all telco's. Over the months I noticed a slow decrease in the quality of reception, and now in DECEMBER 2010, I can't get any reception on my Mobile Phone at home. Having called Vodafone on many occassions, the only solution they have is to move around or go elsewhere where there is reception. What Kind of service is this when I am paying them $69.00 pre month on a Fixed Term Contract and can't receive or make calls at home. Add to this the Thousands of call dropouts, SMS messages which take up to 8 hours to get to the recipient, and extremely poor coverage, VODAFONE is not worth slagging on.
I was travelling in Austria in March 2010, and bought a Pre-paid card, with one of their cheapest networks, and never had less than 4 bars of reception, even inside buildings, in tunnels and up in the mountains. This was absolutely incredible, I even had semi reception when I travelled into Slovakia and Hungary. This is what you call service, you get exactly what you pay for. Australian companies are just focusing on making money and providing crap services. This is a problem across the board, Telco's, Gas, Electricity, and whatever other utility service is available. What about the Customer Service Call Centres in India, This is an absolute joke, and invasion of privacy when you have to confirm private information to someone in another country.
Australia is no longer the lucky country, well maybe for the money hungry corporations, which are mainly overseas owned.
Everybody should band together and SAY "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH", Let's get these companies, especially VODACRAP to lift their game, and the best way to do this is by leaving them, the more customers they lose the better. The government is not doing anything to protect people against getting ripped off by these companies, the Governemnt doesn't give a shit, Politicians have their phones paid by the Tax Payer anyway, so they are never concerned.
I have sent a scathing complaint to VODAFONE about my problems, both in writing and over the internet, and if they don't meet my demands, I will just drop the contract, and stop paying them. They can try and recover money from me, and at the same time I will be fighting to recover money from them. Oh yeah, I have also sent one to A Current Affair.....SPREAD THE WORD......
30 Dec 2010 07:25:05 PM: Well somebody that sees this the sam way i do.. I travell overseas a lot and you are right about the telcos overseas, great service and cheap too, not like these theiving pricks here. Dont worry the big wheel will turn on Vodacrap, they will loose customers, and as dumb as they are, will ask why ??? Go figure..

My wife and I live near Geelong. We were previously with 3 Mobile and had no issues. It was suggested that we change to Vodafone as 3 were changing over to Vodafone plus the coverage is better. We were shown a coverage map that covers all our area no worries. Since changing over not a day goes by where our phonecalls drop out or can't even get through. We can stand in the same spot in our house and the connection comes in and out. Locked into a 24 month contract, if only we knew.

My husband and I went thru Crazy Johns with the provider being Vodafone with a twin deal and internet service. We live in Hallett Cove and the signal in this area is a black hole and it is well known about this and we never ever get a full signal and continues to drop out. They were made aware of the problem but said there is a service therefore we couldnt get out of our contract. The manager at CrazyJohns was more helpful and assisted us in overturning the decision but in the end decided that as we lived in a blackhole area it may not be vodaphone, it wasnt going to make any difference to the reception whoever the provider. We could be wrong on this but have just perservered with problems.

2818 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is in need of a customer service overhaul. at 27 Dec 2010 02:34:11 PM
I'll be honest, I have been with Vodafone for nearly 24 months and haven't had any serious problems. Sure, my calls drop out, but I just call back. Sure, internet can be slow etc, but I accept most of these things as part of life. But in November Vodafone started calling me to advise I was within 3 months of the end of my contract and could renew early to get a new handset, get a better plan etc. This sounded like a good idea as I could get a new phone to give to my eldest daughter for Christmas, so I started looking at handsets and checking out plans, then I started going into the store to talk to people, get a feel for the handsets and find out the ins and outs of renewing my contract. Everything was rosy, and I was quite a satisfied, happy customer. Early into December I had decided on a handset, and was assured it was readily available (no, not an iPhone) and there would be no problem coming in to get it anytime. I went in every week leading up to Christmas, same story, just re-sign for 24months, get the phone, no worries. So, I went in on Tuesday 21st December to be told that I could not get that handset anymore, until after Christmas. Not because they were out of stock (I had been checking this), but because Vodafone Head Office had made a decision 2 days earlier to only sell these handsets outright, not to use them for renewing contracts. I WAS ANGRY!!!! So, this is where the problems started. I then attempted calling, but this was a ridiculous waste of my time, so I tried using email, but had to try 3 times to work out the way to actually get it through (as you all pprobably know, the "contact us" email is a nightmare of filling out numbers, codes and passwords). Its a STOOPID system! I still haven't heard back, and to be fair it is Christmas time, so I expect and accept they are busy and on holidays, but the system is STILL STOOPID!! Anyway, now the contract I was going to get this phone on has been pulled, and it is now $10/month dearer PLUS $5/month handset cost! What a RORT!! So, not only did I not get the handset for Christmas as I had been assured for weeks that I could, the contract has gone up $10, the handset now costs $5 on this more expensive contract, and I cannot contact anyone to get some resolution! Vodafone has until February to turn me around and show me they care and will make this right, or it will simply be back to Optus for me.

2817 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is bad at 27 Dec 2010 02:34:09 PM
I live in Townsville - the largest city in Northern Australia. I go to one of the local shopping centres and at one en, I can make phone calls but at the other end I cannot. Apparently this is because the signal for Vodaphone is OK near the Vodaphone shop but is not strong enough to reach the 100mtrs that is the other end of the centre. I can also be driving in the centre of the city and my signal is non-existant. Apparently this is because we have a big hill in the centre of the city! I would have thought a big hill = a tower site = better signal!!!

2816 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic fail at 27 Dec 2010 02:34:08 PM
I recently changed from 3 to vodafone when I got my new iPhone 4 in November. I live in a regional Victorian city where I could always get good coverage with every other phone network. Now, I can't get any reception inside my house with vodafone, so there's no point in even having an iPhone, let alone any phone at all. People can't call me, I can't message anyone or receive messages (sometimes I luck out with one bar near a window), can't access the internet and I've been forced to use the home phone, meaning expensive conversations are now adding up. I'm regretting changing to vodafone so much it's not funny.

I have been with vodafail for the last 7 years and it was good I had reception everywhere, in the last 2 years it has been really bad, I contacted vodafail and their reply was .. It was the area I lived in, I live the centre of Canberra , so I had enough and finally purchased a optus sim card so before I get home I use the call forward option on my iPhone and divert all calls to that. If I put them side by side the optus will be on full reception and the vodafail will have no service. How does that work vodafail.

2811 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Vodapain!!! at 27 Dec 2010 02:31:20 PM
Contract ended with Vodaphone in May 2010, so resigned with iphone 3...Nothing but problems in the first two weeks - non-stop drop outs and No Network coverage across all different areas in south western Sydney. Called Support/Help four times....Numerous hours on hold with advice that didn't solve the problem. Went back to Vodaphone shop ready to throw phone at them after the amount of complaints I had recieved by Family, friends and business calls that I missed or cut out on. One night I was talking to my sister and the call dropped out SEVEN!!! times. The shop sent my phone away claiming my Iphone was faulty. Four weeks later I get a new Iphone and wait for it - EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEMS!!!! I call head office again and they palm me off to the shop - so Back again I go to the shop who now advise me I have to wait for approval from Head Office to get a different phone. I have to wait another two weeks and I have to call the shop 5 different times to get answers. I get told the person in the section at head office has been away and Thats why I have had to wait - so everyone in NSW had to wait for one person to come back from holidays??? After being rude to a worker I finally get a call from the store manager the next day offering my three phones to choose from - I dont get to choose my own replacemnt phone after the abd service and reunning around I have had to put up with - NO!!!!! And of course to now cancel my contract with incur me with the exit fee!!! What a Joke ;( Instead We will offer you two older style phones to choose from and one phone that no-one has ever heard of but I'm told it's great. yeah well I was told the Iphone was great too!!!.
I choose the unknown HTC Legion after doing some reserach on the three phones on offer and it is 95% better than the Iphone but still not perfect. I still suffer lack of network service and drop outs but It is an improvement to the Iphone drama. Not once did they reinburse me for the couple of months my service was disrupted, for my constant phonecalls and hours lost on the phone to support/Help desk or for the numerous trips to the Vodaphone shop. Am exremly disappointed in their "Customer Sevice" and the fact I was made to feel like I was the problem not their service or the phone!

In this day and age when a place with 50,000+ people can't get 3g they can get ****ed. Not to mention that if I go to the beach 5km from my house I lose all reception. Also if I am on the wrong side of the mountain here again no signal, yet I am about 1km from the ****ing tower. Finally just did a trip recently and in 2000km I got signle once. What happens if I am in an accident. I got my phone because supposedly they were a great company. I wish I could give it back.

2805 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is terrible beyond belief! at 27 Dec 2010 02:29:35 PM
I have been with Vodafone since they first started. Recent problems are my new iphone4 had no reception as I have to stand in the middle of my street to have a conversation at home. These conversations involve dropouts galore resulting in me just giving up. Not good considering my clients cannot get through to me day or night plus I get voicemail messages hours after they were left. My biggest concern is the fact they gave my personal number to someone who simply called and begged them for it. I am stuck in this contract with my crappy phone and no reception and now a crazy person has my number too. I wanna sue their asses!!

I think this would be fine, but they're charging me to replace a faulty unit!!! No credit on my account and no additional service! 100% fail to vodaphone. I'm changing carriers.

So glad there is something like that this that has finally said enough is enough..for awhile there thought i was the only one.

2 phones with them - one for me, one for my wife. Both always drop out, dead zones, and then also full strength zones (full bars 3G) that go completely dead without warning (no bars) for minutes at a time - usually during a call - and then come back online. I am dealing directly with Vodafone to get out of my 24 month contract at the 14th month, but it doesnt look promising.

I am with 3 who is a Vodafone company and have never had a problem...I am on a Blackberry plan....I am wondering how much of it is an actual phone issue (ie iPhone)...
27 Dec 2010 02:31:56 PM: I have 2 phones with the problems. Both Nokias. Bought them to Vodafone from my Telstra plan and had no dramas with Telstra. Only went to Voda because they had the cap plans (which Telstra now have, so cant wait to switch back and get some decent network service).
27 Dec 2010 02:45:53 PM: Just not seeing the problems.....also have phones with Transact who use Vodafone...no issues either...one phone a Samsung and one is a Nokia...
Are you actually getting 3G or are you getting GPRS or something else..
I have a Vodafone 3G via Transact and it is good...
but do feel for those having issues....bring back the analogue service....

I changed over from Optus to Vodaphone about a week ago. In just a week, I have experienced so many problems. Very poor reception on the train and slow data connection. In fact, the internet connection is so bad, it cuts in and out all the time. I am seriously thinking of switching back to Optus or to another network.

I tried calling the customer service line and was literally placed on hold for 2 hours before a man with a heavy Indian accent finally tried to come to my assistance, but I had no idea what he was going on about!

I first got Vodaphone for my business phone approx 2mths ago, I complained after 2 weeks of terrible service, the phone was constantly dropping out of service and nobody was able to call me as it would just say it was turned off. Vodaphone said they would put the phone under investigation, i waited 4 weeks for a response, their response was that there was nothing wrong with the reception on my phone!!! Let me guess your expert INDEPENDANT investigation!! I begged to get out of the plan, they refused and said that i had to give the plan to someone else!! Now my poor husband has the plan or i had to pay $2000!! Then they sent me a bill for $280 for no service for 2 months, go figure, I had a $60 plan for 2 months. Go to hell Vodaphone.

Amazing reading the issues in Australia with Vodafone service. I'm an Aussie living in the UK and I've been having service coverage and reliability issues with Vodafone here. I've now gone onto O2 and still have to pay for my Vodafone contract where I don't even now turn the phone on any more. Vodafone obviously needs to invest more in it's network performance in Australia and elsewhere.

2790 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Significant at 27 Dec 2010 02:24:32 PM
I was formerly on the 3 Network for years before it merged with Vodafone, and although I know they have merged recently, I never had any problems until switching to Vodafone a few months back. Reception is poor and on various occasions I have been unable to ring out from my phone even when it reportedly has reception.

I think what irritates me the most is actually trying to get through to someone on Vodafone in order to fix or enquire about certain problems. Long wait times and voice activated services are annoying at the best of times. I was also not offered any compensation when trying to set up internet on my HTC numerous times and being on the phone for at least half an hour on three separate occasions.

I only switched to Vodafone for the HTC Legend. I probably shouldn't have bothered.

Reception is always "Very poor" or "poor". When clicked on link from a link, usually got disconnected. Originally I thought this was my computer which is almost three years old but it was a good Sony top model when I bought it. Then suddenly two weeks ago every time when I tried to connect a small window popped out telling me my data usage is coming to an end whereas when I tried to use the Voda SMS I was told I still had half the amount to go until the end of the month. So I called their Technical Support which usually takes more than 45 minutes and was told should stick to the SMS amount. What a great service!

I don't even want to repeat what everyone else has been saying about crap service, voicemail notifications being days late, delayed texts etc. What I do want to complain about is the damn text message adverts they send in the middle of the night. 3am is a stupid time to receive ads and despite calling Vodafone 4 times to request that I be removed from their contact list and being told it's done, I'm still getting the messages. Also, despite using every available means to turn off voicemail including calling Vodafone, people are still able to leave messages. I even had to phone myself from a landline to check a phone number and got a frigging busy signal! Not good enough.

No video calling - was promised it 2 years ago.
Continual dropping out of phone calls. Costs me heaps to keep dialling the customer back (get stung for flagfall cost each time)
Have been getting a lot of crossed lines of late. My call will just swap over to a different persons phone call. Sometimes they can hear me - most of the time I can't. I don't want other people listening to my calls - who knows if they have been?
When I lost my phone, i had to contact vodafone to lodge for a replacement. I was on hold with their insurance company for over an hour the first time, and just over 45 mins the next time. I never got through, it was easier to but a new phone. I contacted mangment - they didn't want to know. I have a year left on my contract - then i'm ripping up my contract.

I bought a Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini 10 on a 24mth contract. That was back in the last week of July 2010 and within 4 weeks I had the phone and free modem that came with it at the shop because they were both loosing reception, Phone battery kept going flat within 36hrs of a full charge. (Being new to Australia I don't SMS or call alot of people.) Modem keeps dropping out of reception and the whole phone switches off altogether and they still say nothing is wrong with it. They have sent it away to get fixed and it still comes back the same. I will never deal with Vodafone as a network provider again and I will never buy anything from Crazy Johns as they have been worse than useless at helping me fix any of the issues I have experianced

After that I recorded almost every call. I have hours of the saga on hard disk.

All this happened after I changed from pre pay to a contract. I feel totaly ripped off. Not to mention serialy decieved!

2777 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 02:21:57 PM
My partener has an iphone 4 though vodafone. When I ordered the phone online for him I requested insurance as it just seemed like the smart thing to do. Well the order got changed as a customer service representive contacted my partener and re-did the order as he could get it sent out faster this order was suppose to be exactly the same as the other order with insurance included. So that was all fine and good he got the his iphone then about 2 weeks later my partner was mugged while walking home from the train station. A police report was filed etc the next day I called vodafone to find about the insurance and having the phone replaced. Turns out who ever re-did the order place the phone on a business plan which means it can't have insurance. The basically told my partner well we're not going to replace your phone you've just started a 24 month contract and now you will have no phone. Well we complained after many phone calls they offered my partner to pay for half the iphone ($500) and they would give us a new one. We thought that wasn't good enough so we contacted the TIO 3 or 4 days later they contacted my partener offered to give him the phone but he still had to pay the insurance premium ($300) and they would change the plan to a personal plan with insurance. From when he got mugged to getting a new phone took 3 weeks. The phone seems not to have too many problems with dropping out probabley because we live very close to perth but we had one day where my partener had no service for nearly 2 hours meaning he missed a call from his work telling him not to come in for that day and he travelled 1/2 into the city to find out he wasn't needed. Absolutely ridiculous. I won't be getting any services through vodafone and I feel terrible that I suggested my partener sign up to vodafone because it seemed like they had the best plan.

2776 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is utterly pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 02:21:29 PM
A few years ago I was with Vodafone. Due to their online facilities being inadequate in saving peoples updated details and when I finally gave the company the flick for their seriously lacking reception [which was costing me hundreds of dollars in lost wages each week] I get a debt collection company chasing me for missed bills that I had never received as their online facility and in-store staff had not updated my details correctly. I now have a black mark against my name for leaving the contract early and never receiving the bills to my new address to pay. I was never contacted by Vodafone directly before they handed the issue over to a debt collection company.

Overall, the service I had received from Vodafone was dreadful and I've encouraged everyone I've spoken to to leave them as soon as they could.

A friend of mine is currently having the same issue with them not updated their details correctly and bills going unpaid due to not receiving the bill.

This is not new - Vodafone reception has been bad for years. At my home/office Telstra customers get full-bar reception; Optus folk get nearly max reception. I get none unless I stand upstairs, and outside in all weathers and then the calls drop out - especially at peak usage times (e.g., 5pm-6pm each day). Complaints to Vodafone are met with nonsensical form letter replies or statements like "it shouldn't be that way, there's a "repeater tower" across the road from your home (but there's not).

They are not offering a product of merchandisable quality.

2770 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is costing us $$$ at 27 Dec 2010 02:20:27 PM
since Vodafail brought out 3 and all of their call centers are in India we have had nothing but issues. 1) when traveling overseas we contacted them to have global roaming at no at no point were we advised how much this would cost we were only advised that this would be the same as our normal bill and would only cost us if we went over our data bundle. We were supposed to be issued 3 messages and only got 1 and my partner got nothing at all just a staff member saying its been turned on. So when the bill was issued for $2000 for my bill and $900 for my partner we contacted voadfail who advised they could only help with 20% of the bill to which we forte down to 50% of the bill. 2) When my partner was in store to upgrade his phone he was told that no new contract would need to be signed and this was confirmed with the staff in the shop and over the phone so when calling up a few days later to do the upgrade the forced him to resign a contract. 3) we have call fails on a weekly basis and lack of service it will go from 3 bars to searching this has again only just started since they are doing "upgrades".....

I am so sick and tired of NOT being able to retrieve any emails, or use facebook or any other application on my phone. I give up every time. Many texts are not being received - eg today Monday 27th I received two texts - one from 20th Dec and one from 25 Dec. I am not receiving many calls at all and they appear as a voicemail some days afte the call had been plced to me. I also have USB broadband on my home computer. I have to restart my computer, and replace the USB several times a day to enable the signal to pick up, and usually it says 'very poor'. Often it has dropped out whilst in the middle of filling in a form or searching the net or writing an email for business. I work from home and find this EXTREMELY unprofessional and irritating. Each time I have called into a Vodafone shop I am told that the problem is because Vodafone is upgrading and it will be even better than before, next week. 'Next Week' was 2 months ago and I have been told the same thing in several stores.

I live in Erskineville (2km away from Sydney CBD) and calls will often drop out two or three times per call, one out of three text messages will fail to send, and people will often get a "mobile phone is switched off" recorded voice announcement because the network is so terrible.

The amount of times I've spent apologising to friends and clients for call drop outs is ridiculous, and the amount of money wasted on call connection costs is jaw dropping.

In the past few years I have used a Nokia handset, iPhone 3GS and currently have a HTC Desire and the issues are not handset related.

I have spent so much time calling Vodafone for help that it seems pointless raising a complaint.

2758 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is charging, contact, performance, etc, etc, etc, at 27 Dec 2010 02:18:15 PM
My account is due to turn over on the 19th of every month, I checked my balance on 16th to find I still had $28.00. I checked my bill after the 19th to find they started charging full fees for txts from the 16th. I then had to pay an extra $22.00. When trying to contact them I can't get through due to the high amount of calls coming in (no doubt complaints), at one stage I waited 30mins then to get some Indian that struggled to understand my problem.........every time I go past a lamp post the coverage drops out.

I am currently with vodafone and CONSTANLY having trouble with my calls droping out and not having service, i am always walking around the house, going out in the back yard, down the driveway, up the driveway, in the next door neighbours driveway, down the street, up the street, trying to get coverage! My family is with vodafone and they ALL have the same trouble so we have all decided to go with a different network as we are all well and truly OVER vodafone and it's DIGUSTING coverage and service!

2754 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Frustrating :- at 27 Dec 2010 02:17:48 PM
I am looking forward to the end of my 2 year contract in July next year. My wife and I are both on a 24 month contract and we can never call each other. We have no signal at home, and I have asked Vodafone when it will improve. No answer. My voice mail arrives days late. Calls often drop, and are difficult to make. My phone is a glorified toy.

I was charged a massive amount of money for a 50mb data download, and was forced to get a data bundle to avoid this again. The data quality is unusable and so I am paying $10 a month for a service I can not use.

My wife is upset, as she feels she is unable to contact me in an emergency.
I once had to find a tower and park next to it to make a urgent call.

I have already asked Telstra about getting a new contact, and will never use Vodafone again once my contract is up.

Oh well, I am not alone.

2753 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Shit Service at 27 Dec 2010 02:17:24 PM
Firstly, I would like to bring to attention people that Vodafone has the worst reception in almost all areas of Melbourne, resulting in calls dropping out and generally wasting credit recalling or redialling. Also when trying to make aq call, the phone just does nothing for a few minutes then hangs up repeatedly. Then there is the issue with customer service which has been outsource to a call centre in INDIA!!! ffs i cant speak to somebody who speaks english just to maintain my account. I am so pissed off at the amount of credit and time wasted by myself just to make a simple call.

2752 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No reception and drop outs at 27 Dec 2010 02:17:14 PM
I fought Vodafone over reception issues and drop outs for 5 months in Harris Park, NSW. They were claiming network is in perfect condition and no issues are reported. I went to the Telecommunication Ombudsman and I got out of the contract with in a week with no penalty because I showed them 3 days in a row drop outs and no connection available. Their customer relation person was very cooperative. Any issues you have with phone companies please call Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman on 1800 062 058 or log a call online at http://www.tio.com.au/ and they usualy get back to you in few days with information who to contact at Vodafone i Australia and you will have dedicated Relationship manager to fix the problem and offer you solution benefitial to you.

2750 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Retardedly at 27 Dec 2010 02:17:11 PM
I was told 2 yrs ago they were updating mobile service to my area, which gets bugger all signal BUT if you walk all the way up the back of the property you may get 1 bar of signal :/ To this day, we are no better off... no mobile coverage decent enuff for even a 1 minute phone call, maybe i should be impressed if i can send a txt, after upteen resends? AND a recent gripe....!!! A previous bill, that was paid over 3 ago, is still being deemed "outstanding"... unfu**in believable! After being kept on hold for 38 mins to resume this problem, i hung up, and gave into the fact that Vodafone doesn't give a toss bout it's customers, as long as they get their $$$... we can all go to hell!!!!

2749 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is absolutely terrible at 27 Dec 2010 02:16:40 PM
I thought that when they merged with 3 that would be a good thing, shared infrastructure etc...sadly not. Its upto the gods, when I sit in my home office (15k from the Brisbane CBD) and take (never mind make) a call. Went into the VODA stores and got 2 lame excuses of network issues and promisory fixes. I just heard the news today about the class action...I don't want money back, I just want to leave the carrier. I'll never recommend VODA to ANYONE...funny same as builder I had a couple of years back :)

2747 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Totally failed at 27 Dec 2010 02:16:19 PM
We are a corporate customer having over 200 vodafone 3GS iPhones. I have a repeater within 10 mts of my office. I still fluctuate between full 3G signal & no network every single day on every single call. What excuse does Vodafone have for over 24 months of essentially no service. Nil.

2746 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Super Fail at 27 Dec 2010 02:15:58 PM
It took me four months to get Vodafone to admit their wireless broadband network was not working and to refund my money. FOUR MONTHS of navigating through Lara and waiting on hold. In the end, when they admitted their network wasn't working and knew it wasn't working I asked them why they were still signing up customers, to which I received no answer.

The worst experience was when I went to a Vodafone store to take back my faulty phone, which was under warranty, and the sales woman refused to take it back. She clearly didn't like having someone in her store that wasn't buying anything and made a big deal about not taking back the phone. She was yelling at the top of her lungs at me, almost screaming at me, while her staff members looked at her in fear and a man who was shopping for a phone looked on in disbelief.

I've only got a few months of the contract left. I can't wait to change to a telco. where my calls don't drop out all the time and where I won't be treated like shit.

2745 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Kept sending me someone elses account at 27 Dec 2010 02:15:42 PM
I had rung previously to inform vodafone that I am getting bills for the wrong person. I have given over all details and also raised concerns that my bill is going elsewhere as it is more often than not, not sent to my hotmail account. The unhelpful Egyptian said that there was no need to fear, all my billing information was not being sent elsewhere. She also said that she would contact XXX XXXXX and apologise for his personal information being sent to me.

Well months have passed, I actually called XXX XXXXX myself because I tire of getting his bill monthly. He said he had never been contacted by Vodafone and had no idea his bill was being sent to me. He then called and apparently had it all sorted out. Well it seems that that is not the case.

I tried email and it took a month to get an automated response to Why is there an unusual or unexpected charge on my current bill?
I replied asking why they were sending my non-relevant auto resposes to which I got:
Hi ,

Thank you for your patience.

Vodafone apologises for the delay in responding to your enquiry within our normal time frames, and regret any inconvenience this may have caused. We understand that due to this delay, you may have utilised other avenues to resolve your query.

Please note that Vodafone are unable to assist with handset upgrade or mobile internet technical issues via email. For assistance with these queries, please call Vodafone on 1555 from your Vodafone handset or 1300 650 410 from a landline.

If you still require assistance via email, please advise us within 72 hours, and we will respond as soon as possible. Alternatively the answer to your enquiry may be found by registering and accessing the My Vodafone website.

I then threatened to go to the ombudsman as they were in breach of privacy laws. I then got a HUMAN response (OMG the shock)
I apologise for the delay in replying. We have recently been experiencing higher than usual email volumes, and we are working through a backlog.

I have arranged to stop these bills from being sent to your email address. You will not receive any further emails regarding this account. Please delete any emails you have received to date.

I have 2 months to run on my 2 year contract and then I'm outta there!

I'm not I just think everyone should get over it, i've been with vodafone for years and have never had a problem. If there is a problem I just read that Vodafone has acknowledged it. So let them fix it instead of carrying on. This is why there is so much crap in the world cause people dont shut up
27 Dec 2010 02:28:04 PM: And Vodafone paid you how much to post here?
27 Dec 2010 02:30:13 PM: Why should we "shut up" when we pay for a service we expect to get it! i have learnt that not speaking up does NOT get you anywhere! We deserve better and we will get better!!

2743 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Crappy Internet at 27 Dec 2010 02:15:17 PM
I went and signed up for the mobile broadband. Told them that i will be changing address in a few weeks and asked if it will still work in the area that i was moving to(which is literally a 2 minute drive). They told me it would. Moved into new house internet is slow and only works if it feels like it. Rang up "customer care" they told me that it was my fault because I didnt change my address on the bill and I would have to pay $550 to cancel my contract. I was then told that the people that work in cancellations aren't working today and they would ring me back. Well I'm still waiting for that call and that was about 4 months ago.

IPhone and mobile broadband both having problems- called the "customer care-less" line for 40 minute hold - flicked through three areas re issues to finally be connected to their disconnection department as no one else could help. More bananas for the monkeys and they might work more!
