26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I called my mum at lunch time and it dropped out 3 times in a row!!!!! FROM THE LOCATION WHERE VODAFONE PREVIOUSLY RAN ITS OWN CALL REFERALL CENTRE ON COLLINS ST! Epic multi fail...

18052 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No network signal at 20 May 2011 10:33:54 AM
I have not been able to get a vodafone network signal all morning, and called the Customer Care (INDA), and told me there is no issue with the network, and it had to be my mobile phone. I have tried 3 different mobile handsets and get the same issue. The phone and signal were at 3G full strength last night, however today none (only get SOS), and the other explaination, there is NO 3G service in my area. mmmmm, what part do they do not understand, had no problem for the last 12 months from the same area, and specifically last night.
At witts end with Vodafone, seriously thinking of moving to the forbiden service of Telstra :(
20 May 2011 10:55:21 AM: I am also in Tweed Heads.
20 May 2011 12:15:36 PM: Wow, I have a 3G full strength service, I can make a call out, but no SMS's, no incoming calls, no blackberry messages, no internet access. Just so wonderful GRRRRRRRR.
20 May 2011 09:10:30 PM: I am also in Tweed Heads, can make calls but cant receive - 3 phones and wifi internet - you can switch your phone setting to gsm only and voila! everything seems to work - the 3g network must be down......

I have a usb broadband account with VodaFone and it is the most frustrating piece of "technology" I have ever plugged in to my pc. Its speed is at dial up rate but also lacks stability. Why would you sell more devices than you network can accomodate. Absolute waste of money, like buying a car in Venice or a boat in Alice Springs USELESS.

18049 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Not my voice message!!! at 19 May 2011 09:21:23 PM
I'm in a bit of a pickle. When you dial my mobile number, my mobile rings... no sweat... problem is, if I miss the call, it goes through to someone else's voicemail message. To top it off, my mobile does not notify me that I have a message to retrieve. I dial 121 and apparently, there are no new messages! I know there are as I have left messages myself. I contacted customer service and as you would expect, it is as simple as turn off, turn back on. NO IT IS NOT!!! Even after removing the battery and rebooting, this problem still exists. I am told to contact customer service again between 8am and 8pm tomorrow as no-one can help me now. What happened? Where are my messages going? Will I receive the other lady's messages?
19 May 2011 11:39:39 PM: A similar thing happened to me when I was with Vodafone. When someone rang me my phone wouldn't ring and it went to voicemail but I never received a message. Vodafone didn't know what was wrong or how to fix it. If they still can't fix it then go to the TIO if Vodafone doesn't let you out of your contract. Then you can switch to another provider.

Goodluck!

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
20 May 2011 11:57:00 AM: This is a problem. You should not need to go to the TIO every time something bad happens. You are abusing a system meant for legitimate high level escalations like medical/life threatening/100% Vodafone's fault. I am pretty sure they won't say no to a replacement handset or an alternative. It sounds like it would be the phone to me. You were probably told to contact the operations centre later due to skeleton staff at late nights (anytime after 8pm depending on locations) The Vodafail moderation team SHOULD NOT be releasing TIO contact detail nor promoting it the way they do.
20 May 2011 12:52:27 PM: Umm.... 11:57:00 AM if voda doesn't let you out of your contract and won't solve your problem then you go to the TIO. It says clearly on their website.

"The Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman is a free and independent alternative dispute resolution scheme for small business and residential consumers in Australia with unresolved complaints about their telephone or internet services." http://www.tio.com.au/default.asp

AND they release their contact details on the front page of the website

I got a unexpected high bill one month and when i advised that i could only afford x amount of dollars the service person said that i could either pay the amount in full - which i had already said i couldnt afford and then he said that i could only pay x amount over 5 weeks - in which is still not something i can really afford and he said that if i dont pay either in full or the installments that he said - that i would lose the phone and it would lock itself - by the way he was indian and i could hardly understand a word he was saying - so it makes me wonder if he could understand what i was saying - massive fail - in the fact that vodafail...oops...sorry vodafone doesnt want to listen to its customer's needs...

18047 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Automatic Recharge at 19 May 2011 05:46:16 PM
If you set up an automatic recharge you expect it to do exactly that. I even went into my online account to re-setup the automatic recharge. Vodafone said it would be processed within 30 mins... a couple of hours later I am still waiting. I then had to do a credit card recharge as I had some urgent calls to make which was not very convenient. I have also been disappointed with my reception and the fact I seem to missing out on messages that have apparently been sent to me.

The other day I recieved a voice message from vodafone - only it was so faint and crackly I couldn't understand much, then it dropped out. I rang back to find it was the network coverage team ringing to tell me that there were no coverage problems at all and they didn't understand my complaints! Kind of a black comedy.

19 May 2011 10:31:06 PM: That's just strange. They don't need the phone Proof of Purchase as it has nothing to do with the phone. Each accessory has its own 6 month warranty. 18039 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is enourmous fail at 19 May 2011 12:47:48 PM
I signed up with vodafone 6 months ago and did not recieve one bill, after months of tryig to contact them with my calls being dropped or me being on hold for over 45 minutes I gave up, only to recieve a text saying were cutting off your services the following week unless I immediately pay the outstanding amount. Im a year 12 student who doesnt work as of the workload at school my only income is youth allowance. I rang up vodafone to resolve this issue and instead of cutting off my services the following week they cut me off straight after the phone call mind you the guy on the phone was laughing at me when I tried to make a payment plan. Now there handing my case over to debt collecters unless i pay the full $500+ amount in the next 24 hours. I asked to speak to an ombussman and they left me on the line and told me its my responsibility to chase up a bill. I cant afford to pay the current amount neither can I afford for this to go on my credit rating. I dont know what to do?? anyone??
19 May 2011 10:34:14 PM: You would need to speak to the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman is not somebody who works for Vodafone, so they can not transfer you over the phone. Google 'TIO' for details.
20 May 2011 01:31:38 PM: Check out the How To Complain tab at the top of the page for the TIO details.

19 May 2011 02:56:03 PM: Please lodge this complaint with the TIO! They have surprisingly low complaint rates because people who've been put through all sorts of vodacrap suffer "complaint fatigue" and decide not to go and recooperate your loss.

Why don't you make the complaint in the name of principle, and donate whatever you recoop to your charity. This way you are at least formally informing regulators so that they can take action. Nigel Dews is able to talk down the misery he's put customers through because people like you (and me, initially) don't voice our concerns.

I rang regarding my mobile broadband. I live right in the middle of Launceston so expect that the coverage would be reasonable. However takes forever for the net to loan and over an hr for a movie. After being on hold for 40mins i finally find out my internet is going a 88kpbs for a 512k download. this is 98% lower that the average. How can they potentially sell a product that barely works in middle of a city let alone if u left the cbd. poor advertising to even sell it to me.

reading all the posts here and you are all in the same boat as me. I have all the symptoms you describe. It concerns me that you ring up to cancel and they wont let you. I told them my reception was now almost non existed and had deteriorated in last few months and they ended my contract without cost to me. I cant see why you all cant do the same. Speaking to staff at a store, they told me to stress to the customer service people on 1555 that the coverage HAS GOT WORSE IN LAST FEW MONTHS.

I am now back on testra after a 10 year hiatus and can i say not only is it cheaper (something i thought id never see) than anyone else, it is also fantastic coverage.

Constant drop off while making phone calls is an everyday reality. I suspect that I now may have a new issues with Vodafone where my phone battery starts to drop off very quickly (we're talking 1/2 a day without any phone use) and based on my conversation with Apple Store, it maybe due to the poor 3G coverage by Vodafode causing the phone to constantly searching for a signal.

I am wondering if anyone with iPhone is in the same predicament???

Same as everyone, Calls drop out, Delayed voicemails, Dont even receieve texts from people alot of the time and worst of all SLOWEST POSSIBLE INTERNET AND NEVER HAVE RECEPTION!!!
I went into a shop after numerous complaints over the phone not getting me anywhere, So they tell me its the sim I have in my phone that is the reason for my extremely low reception (I LIVE IN THE CITY PRETTY MUCH - RECEPTION MOSTLY 1 OR 2 BARS IF IM LUCKY) anyhow, they replace my sim and I get full reception for about 2 weeks and then no doubt after that its back to its usual 1 or 2 bars, I'm pretty much to the point where I am under the impression that I will suffer from these issues for the rest of my contract, This website has made me realize otherwise.

18019 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is disastrous at 17 May 2011 06:49:15 PM
Am in Kolkata India. Enabled and paid credit on my prepaid account for roaming here. Nothing is working cannot receive or make calls. Extesive time and a lot of skype credit on to call them. They acknowledge that roaming is enabled and credit is there, they acknowledge they have a Vodafone partner here, they acknowledge there is nothing wrong with the headset and have done extensive trouble shooting on the phone to try and solve the problem. Even they have been reduced to suggesting I get a local Indian phoned or see if vodafone India can help. I do not think that is my job as vodafone OZ took my money (which I put on the prepaid account) to finance the roaming which I cannot use. The customer service people were attentive but it is not enough to be told the situation cannot be fixed by them since they set up the roaming and took the credit on the account for it.

Ok, so I was on the phone to vodafone for over an hour today.

Although where I live now, I do get reception.. But my phone tends to cut out a lot, I lose service quickly.. But I can turn my phone off and on and it's back.. Which is annoying but manageable.

I'm moving to a new suburb. I don't get ANY reception at all. Today on the phone, the man was nice enough to give me 3 months of free billing.. While they "investigate" the no service crap. So.. Rather then cancelling my contract.. They make me stay with them for 3 extra months while I don't have service? How does that work? I'm annoyed and sick of not getting answers. WTF!

so i've been with 3 for 2 years now. just last week i signed a new contract with vodafail (which i really shouldnt've done) because they were the only telco that had the phone that i want (HTC Desire Z). the guy that i was signing up with was really nice, and he said that i will definetly receive the phone within 1-3 working days. so now its been like 6 working days and i still havent received it, so i just called them up now. i had to call 8 times, because they kept hanging up on me (it wasnt my reception, i had full bars and it said 3G+) so i finally got through to this indian man that clearly didnt know how to speak english. and i was trying to speak to him for like 30 minutes, so i had to use google translate to speak to him (pretty funny yeah?). so he finally said that i should recieve my phone in 3 weeks. then i started saying (loudly) WEEKS?! They informed me that there was nothing they could do for me except change my plan from a $79 cap to a $49 dollar cap!!! So in other words I will still be paying them $49 each month for nothing!! they said its not a question of what is fair or not but that is all they can do. Yet another failure from vodafone!!! After finally being released from the Vodaphone 3 contract for poor almost non existent service a few months ago, without any further charges or penality, I now find they are trying to bill my credit card yet again. I've even been charged a failed payment fine because I changed my credit card!

I'm sure this practice is bordering on illegal.

This company should be deregistered until these scams are sorted out.

So, it's back to the TIO !

18009 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is ruined holiday at 17 May 2011 02:38:56 PM
I just wanted to relate our experience when holidaying in Tasmania for 10 days in Feb 2010. We had planned a trip travelling around Tasmania starting down in Port Arthur and travelling in a clockwise direction visiting Hobart, Strahan, Cradle Mountain, Tamar Valley, Launceston (Country club), Bridport and Bicheno. When planning the holiday, the contact number I had given for all our accomodation was my Vodafone mobile number. We also had our laptop with Vodafone wireless internet (dongle). Apart from in Hobart, we had no reception for either device throughout the trip. This caused us a lot of stress and actually cost us financially as we were unable to purchase any excess baggage online (we had our golf clubs). My partner contacted Vodafone using his Telstra mobile whilst we were in Bicheno to ascertain if there was any coverage in Bicheno at all(so that we could go online to arrange excess baggage) and they were not able to assist us at all, in fact they were of no help what so ever and offered no apologies or compensation for they lack of coverage throughout our trip. They just kept insisting that their computers told us there was coverage. When we requested to speak to someone in Australia as we had been speaking to an Indian call centre operator who didn't even know where Tasmania was, we were told that it was not possible. Naturally was very aggravating and upsetting. We never received any follow up from Vodafone regarding the complaint lodged during this 45 minute call.

18007 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is VODAFONE IS THE WORST at 17 May 2011 01:52:52 PM
I recently posted about been sold a phone charger that broke my phone.

After reading many posts from others experience constant hassle with Vodafone (all of which were helpful posts), I contacted the TIO. They emailed me back within hours and told me that because it wasn't a contract problem, I need to contact consumer affairs.
I did so and was told that because I had no receipts (the gentleman on the phone was very understanding and said that he too wouldn't have kept a receipt for a phone charger) there was nothing they could do, but it was worth lodging a complaint anyway.

I did so, then contacted Vodafone. I was on hold for a surprising 7 minutes. I was first put through to sales.. "Ohh you wish to purchase a new mobile?" My response "NO I would like the mobile phone that is damaged due to your sales teams POOR product knowledge replaced.." His response "We can't do that, you need to purchase a phone." I responded with "Why should I fork out extra money when I am without a phone because of your sales team that didn't know the product they were selling.." Their response "take it up with the store.." my response "I have numerous times, and I would again, however, the store is currently undergoing renovations and it doesn't state when it will re-open.." their response "so take it up with another store. They probably won't deal with it though, because it wasn't their mistake.." I continued to keep my cool and politely asked if I could speak to a supervisor.. The CSO responded with "they can't help you either.." again politely I said "please transfer me.." and eventually he agreed.
I was transferred, held for not even 2 minutes, somebody started to speak to me then suddenly, the line went down.
I called back and went through a similar thing, but this time was told to save my money, pay off my outstanding credit and the problem would be solved and I could sign up on a contract and get a new phone.
If I could pay out my outstanding credit, I would do so in a heartbeat, however, I am unemployed and don't have the money to do so. I am however on a payment plan, so it's not like I'm not trying or just ignoring it.
I couldn't get over the tone in the mans voice.
Eventually, I hung up.. I called again and asked to be transferred to the complaints department.
The lady on the other end was SO kind and actually made me feel bad for putting in a complaint. She asked what it was about, I told her and she said that she was able to take the complaint or I could be transferred to a supervisor and he could take it. I asked to be transferred.
The supervisor, also very polite, took my complaint, said he would pass it on and if anything could be done about this, they would contact me, if not, he was sorry.
I said I highly doubted anything would be done and didn't understand how Vodafone weren't willing to fix a mistake they mad. $50 added to my bonus bank to purchase a phone that DIDN'T Work from day (a phone that is now in a tip somewhere because when I contacted them about this, all they could say was pay $50 and send you're phone off).. And $50 loyal credit also doesn't cut it for me.
Not when I'm without a phone and missing god knows how many job opportunities.

I also emailed vodafone yesterday morning after all this was over to complain.. Surprise surprise, no response.

Does anyone know of anything else I could do? Consumer Affairs have said that they don't believe they can help as there are no receipts and even though I have emails from Vodafone and myself about this, it doesn't state where the emails come from..

PLEASE HELP ME! I am so close to ripping my hair out!
17 May 2011 05:24:46 PM: Did you buy the charger using cash or credit card? If a credit card it would be on your statement.

Can the store issue you a duplicate statement? They should be able to, transaction records are usually maintained by stores.

Have you tried the Vodafone AU facebook page? See what they suggest..........

Apart from the above I have no other suggestions.

Anyone else help this chap?

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
18 May 2011 01:37:51 PM: It was purchased in cash, so I can't even use statements and I can't go into the store because it's under renovations and doesn't state when it's re-opened.

I have spoken to consumer affairs and they want to help, but because nothing was kept, there's nothing they can do!

Looks like Vodafone wins this one =(

Thanks for your advice though =)
19 May 2011 10:41:12 PM: I feel your pain but you really do need to keep receipts. Otherwise it's your word against theres and I don't think they'd be willing to fork out credits without any evidence that it even came from the company. Also, how is a staff member selling you a charger 'poor knowledge of their product'?

18004 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Don't deserve to be in business at 17 May 2011 11:48:11 AM
My 3 mobile broadband worked fine for 18 month. Then suddenly in Feb 2011 when I tried to connect, I received the message 'NO NETWORK'. This occurred over a few days so I called Customer (don't) Care. A number of hours and calls later, 3 advised no problem with their service in my area, but couldn't (wouldn't??) explain why after 2 years I suddenly had no network. Their solution? Move to Vodafone, which I did with great trepidation.

For 2 months I was very happy with Vodafone. Then, at the beginning of May 2011 my service became unuseable. Good signal, but unable to load internet pages. Lucky if I could get on for a couple of minutes at a time. Didn't matter what time of day or night I tried - always the same. Modem constantly switching between 3G and HSUPA etc even if selected to use 3G only. Placed calls, and no one called back when they said they would.

I kept a record of all of this and sent if off to Vodafone requesting that they cancel my contract without penalty as I was upholding my end ( paying bills on time, reporting faults via due process) while they were not (unusable service, poor customer service). Failing this I was going to lodge a formal complaint with TIO. Vodafone kindly agreed to release me from my contract (in an act of good will) even though there was "no problem at their end".

Don't these people even look at their own Community page and other Internet forums to see that others in other areas are reporting the same problems? Pre Internet we did not have access to this broad range of information. Vodafone do not deserve to be in business. They didn't listen to customers then and they are still not listening now. So many customers cannot be wrong / at fault.

If you want out of your contract due to poor service and not getting what you paid for, keep a record of your problems and help desk calls. Send the details to Vodafone (they also have a 'contact us' link) and request termination without penalty, else you'll go to TIO. Keep emotion out of your communications with them and stick to the facts. You can get out if you have truly been badly done by.

18003 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extremely fail at 17 May 2011 10:18:39 AM
Call dropouts, 3G dropouts (turning off 3G works for call reception and calls are much more reliable), terrible throughput/speed for internet browsing regardless of location - i've never even come close to using a quarter of my monthly allowance as pages time out all the time!
Vodafone advise my speed issues should be fixed in about 3months, but only for the 1 location they would allow me to provide... my house address, where I don't use 3G!
17 May 2011 10:47:56 AM: Gosh, that's useful isn't it..

I bought a phone from a chain store and was set with Vodaphone, i was with them once before and thought they were okay so i gave them another go. I'd only had my phone for 3 months when i could no longer recieve calls or texts, this went on for three weeks. I had no idea why? I had perfect coverage having all bars up. This affected my social and work life not being able to recieve calls or texts. I recently decided to cut all ties and changed providers!! Very dissapointed Vodafail.

18001 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ALL THESE COMPLAINTS BUT WHAT IS ACCTUALLY HAPPENING at 17 May 2011 09:04:57 AM
I have been with voda for many years now and can relate to all these problems and still have Drops out, Voicemail a day later sometimes even a few days, Customer service, and alot more I could say, Lodge complaints with the TIO that have been resolved
Now my point is that I strongly stress if this company is doing all this and not supplying customers with the service there paying for and even a write up by the CEO in the papers isnt this some kind of Fraud ? Isnt this Illegal ? A company operating - overcharging on Bills ? ( Fraud) Call Drop out so you ring back again ? ( Thats a scam to me ) Not complying to there standards, Count me if I am wrong but if an individual was operating like this what would happen ? Please Someone need this clarrified other wise I will open a company and do the same thing as nothing is happening to this company there still operating

I orginally was on paper billing, somehow, with out my consent it was changed to online billing.Well I recieved no bills & without a paper bill I couldnt pay the account if I didnt know what was owed.....then couldnt ring out or recieve,no sms, nothing! A week or so later after many hours spent on home phone trying to get paper billing sent out,I recieved an extra bonus.Ontop of the vodafail bill for couple hundred, there was the bill for the collection agents as well. This is after vodafail admitted to 1)changing my account to online billing without my consent. 2) Admitted that they did wrong in sending me sms alerts for my overdue account, after they had cut sms & in/out going phone calls!!!!!! 3)Agreeing to payment plan for my bill then finding out that Vodafail still sent me to a collection agency after we agreed to payment plan & to top it off, collection agency had black listed/defaulted my credit rating & promised to send me a letter from them & Vodafail stating that it was a mix up & everything paid in full,I am still waiting for that letter to turn up!!!!!ABSOLUTELY,TOTALLY P_____ OFF @ VODAFAIL.Trying to buy first home & this has stuffed me right up,even now on phone trying to talk to these idiots is a waste of my time.
17 May 2011 02:04:43 PM: The same thing happened to me!! Only I am now paying off over a thousand dollars because it was my word against theirs and according to them I was advised that it would be online.. Hrmm!!

my wife recharged succesfully on the 8/5/2011,she placed $30.00 in her balance as she recieved a msg to recharge before the 10/5/2011. Once she did this she had confirmation that she recharged with $30.00 as the phone msg advised her recharge was successful. less than a week later she goes to call me only to have a voice tell her she has insuficiant funds. she has 56 cents in credit which mind you she had before recharge but has been msging ppl till she went to call me.my wife rang pre paid customer support only to be told unless youve still got the voucher we cant help you, who keeps there voucher after confirmation they have successfully recharged. They told my wife is she can find it in the rubbish bin though the rubbish bin was emptied last week.So there quick to say to her even though you rang recharge number how do we no you recharged, so there calling her a liar to, mind you this is call center in india or wherever they are. Yet they couldnt exsplain how she was able to msg ppl over past 3 days on 56cents but were going to investigate cause they were losing money, but yet they buggered up my wifes credit but are not willing to investigate to where or how its gone missing, only exsplanation they can give is that my wife is lying.Il fight this and will join action on vadafail as when i had broadband contract they were shocking as to is my phone service with them as just me alone vodafail have cost me over $1200.00 in calls due to drop outs and very poor service let alone no covrage, wheres there upgrades they claim to have made. 17986 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad, very very bad at 16 May 2011 04:35:23 PM
Unfortunately, I am locked into Vodafail because I am using a company provided SIM. If it were my own, I would have walked away months ago.

I work in the Sydney CBD and happen to be in a "Black Spot" for 3G coverage. When at client sites all over Sydney I have to embarrasingly ask them to use their phones because of lack of no coverage. Often when talking to colleagues who are in transit in either the Melbourne or Sydney CBD, we get multiple drop-outs during calls and conferences.

There is a long standing joke in our company that anytime anything doesn't work, it gets blamed on Vodafail. e.g. if the toaster doesn't work, it must be Vodafail's fault. If the lights don't work, it was Vodafail. This is the stigma that gets attached to failure

Enough is enough. My single biggest wish is that my company would change Telco's

17982 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Promotion Call - Melbourne Suburbs.... at 16 May 2011 04:03:16 PM
Haven't seen anything simular on the net yet.. YOU MIGHT FIND IT INTERESTING>>>OR EVEN COME ACROSS THE SAME GUY.....

I am having the same issue with Vodafail as anyone else. No coverage, constant calls to Customer Service etc.

Listen to this...

I was on $130 Business Unlimited Cap.
Due to low coverage at my add. they reduced it to $99

It even got worse, so they reduced it to $79 unlimited 2 GB Plan.

2 Weeks ago received an SMS from Vodafail, saying due to " July 2011 network upgrade" they applied 50% waiver on my plan for 3 month.

So I will be paying something like $40 for unlimted plan. (2GB is sufficient)

IT GETS EVEN BETTER.....

Last friday 13th May 2011 received a call from a BLOCKED number...
It was VODAFONE... The lovely gentleman introduced himself as VODAFONE STAFF and told me he has got a great offer for me....

I was curious and I went with the conversation - as I know already the deal I am on is due to the lack of coverage, frustration, endless calls to and from customer relation team - so I was wondering how come they can't see that on my account....

Anyway...He asked me for the PIN etc. etc.

He told me ... He can see that I am a HIGH SPENDER and he would like to reduce my plan.
So I asked him oh ok, how much am I spening at the moment.. He told me around $130 per month ... ( not sure where he got that figure from)

He then said yes for this particular mobile number THAT is the average you are spending..

NOW when he said what the mobile number was - I started to be very suspicious.. HE was looking at my Vodafone PREPAID NUMBER that does NOT EXCIST since 6 years... :-)

I asked him to check the coverage at my address, (Vodafone already knows about my area that there is no or poor coverage)

It took this gentleman over the phone not even 2 seconds to check the network coverage...and said, yeas you have exceptional coverage...

THIS IS ANOTHER HIT>>> He then asked me what time is the best to come and visit me at my HOME to talk about signing up for a plan... He would send someone to come and visit me...WHAAAAT???!!!

I asked him wow is that something new....? There was no answer to that, he persisted for me to give him exact time and day that I am available....

Asked him where he is located, as I would like to visit him and he said MELBOURNE CITY Call Center... I said, I am not sure that there is a vodafone call center...And his answer was ..........( a suburb approx. 8km away from the CITY) so not IN MELBOURNE CITY>.....

The ALARMS in my head went off, and I asked to speak to a Supervisor.
Spoke to him immediately, and confirmed that they are not a VODAFONE Call Centre, they r just a shop... VODAFONE DEALER ( selling phones and other stuff) .... He kind of was putting it back on my and said...well you have given us the PIN number so we can look into your account....
Well, I did yes, only under the understanding that he was calling from VODAFONE Call Centre.... and not from a dealer shop somewhere in the suburbs.....

He of course appologized, and said sorry about that etc. etc. etc.

Thought I might give you a heads up on my experience... A new thing vodafone is doing? I am also taking this further with vodafone, as I am concerned about my privacy - as those people introduce themselves as vodafone call centre staff where they r not.

18 May 2011 06:41:31 PM: Reported this issue to Vodafone...Today I was meant to receive the call back regarding whats been happening. They haven't put any notes etc. on the account.

They telling me now we will call you now within 24 hours. A JOKE!!!
31 May 2011 08:13:05 PM: I had something very similar happen to me at around the same date. I'm based on the gold coast and a caller gave me the same intro but highlighted the fact that he was "not trying to sell me anything". As soon as he said that, alarm bells went off and I became cold towards him. When he felt that I was onto him he toned down and asked if I was happy with my infinite 45 plan, I said yes, he asked if I was looking at getting any additional phones, I said no. Then he ended the conversation. It sounds like dealers are fishing around using the vodafone database of customers. MAJOR PRIVACY ISSUES - ALL CUSTOMER MUST BEWARE!

I spent two days trying to get through to Vodafone to order a new phone and sign up for the $45 plan(I was on the $65 plan) after they sent me a txt stating I would get 3 months free if I upgraded phone now. I thought why not, I needed a new phone and wasn't getting the value from the old plan so thought I would save a few dollars.

2 months later I am being charged more than what I originally was paying and no 3 free months. The customer service at the other end was no help at all and wanted to try and charge me $20 to change my plan. I'm currently waiting for a manager to get back to me but think this is going to end up with me having to complain to some higher authority. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

20 May 2011 01:21:52 PM: Again DO NOT advise this. Why are you giving these details out when it is not designed nor available in this situation. This must be a legit high level escalation THIS IS NOT. It is not life threatening/on going abuse from staff/advising completely wrong course of action etc this is a problem that can be solved by a manager within Vodafone. Easy-----> Go back to the call centre and just ask for a manager nicely.

For yet another time and time again Vodafone has failed to deliver sms sent from my g/f from her Vodafone mobile. Multiple times! When she finally calls me and is very annoyed that I haven't replied and blames me all the time about messages that were never delivered to me. Vodafone, this is blatantly unnaceptable! The worst part is that you charge for these sms that never make it to me. I feel like throwing my useless phone against a wall. If this was any other business you would be sued and out of business in a heart beat. FALSE advertising and an absolute JOKE of a network, if you can even call it that.
And a word for your "customer service" people. Speaking to a computer... DOES NOT WORK and when you finally get to talk to a human that can't help, then what is the point? A total waste of time.

6) I MISSED LOT OF EMERGENCY CALLS RELATED TO BUSINESS .BIG LOSS FOR ME
7) MOST OF THEM PEOPLE SAY ,MY MOBILE IS SWITCHED OFF ,BUT MY MOBILE IS ON POSITION

I would request vodafone to SOLVE THE ISSUES ASAP . DUE TO POOR PERFORMANCE ,THIS NEEDS TO ADDRESS ASAP.

APART FROM ALL THIS,IT TAKES AGES TO TALK WITH CUSTOMER SERVICE. I HAVE TRIED LOT OF TIMES FOR 30 MINUTES MINIMUM, AND DISCONNECTED THE LINE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE COULD NOT BE REACHED

UNHAPPY WITH VODAFONE .

16 May 2011 02:24:25 PM: Hi, we've removed your contact number for security reasons. If you have tried complaining to vodafone and aren't getting anywhere then it's time for the TIO. Check out the 'how to complain' page and submit a request to the TIO. Then vodafone is more likely to give you a call. Goodluck!

17970 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor customer service at 15 May 2011 03:46:35 PM
Vodafone customer service at my local store is horrendous. My phone (purchased out right from that store) was recently sent to Nokia for repair 3 times whilst under warranty. Finally it was concluded that I should receive a new replacement phone. They told me to come into the store to receive the replacement phone. When I went in, they told me I couldn't receive a new phone because I didn't have the phone sent for repair. However they took it off me a week before. They refused to give me a replacement phone until they had the old one back from wherever it was sent to. Finally I asked for my money back and they said no, that Vodafone does not refund and then after persistence from me, they said they only refund within one month of purchase. After a very stressful argument and still no phone and no refund, they said they would replace my phone. The time wasted and poor attitude to customer service was hard to endure

17969 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very poor connection at 15 May 2011 02:15:00 PM
my internet connection keeps dropping out and has been for over 3 months now. Nothing has been done to fix the problem and they are calling me to tell me that there is not a problem with their towers. It is funny because everyone i work with in this area has been having the very same issues. Why cant they own up to it? I am paying for a service that is not being provided and want to change companies and drop my contract.

I went to the westfield shopping centre and right outside a vodafone shop i had 1 bar of reception how is that for irony. I was once at the shops and my phone went into no service. I go out to the club and i get no service or signal at all when everyone else on telstra is happy as a clam i am furious with vodafone.

17967 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Painful at 15 May 2011 11:54:23 AM
Since December 2010 Vodafail has been billing me $15 for an additional handset, which would be fine if I had ordered one or received one. Every month for 5 months I have been ringing customer support and after 30-45 minutes on the phone I have been assured that the problem has been fixed. And every month I get a new bill there it is again. The last time it was explained to me that it was a billing problem, well I think I got that! By which I eventually released they were trying to explain that they could not fix it because billing department had not replied to their email yet. I guess it does not occur to anyone to pickup the phone or something. I'm on my last contract payment this month and now I have to call them yet again!
15 May 2011 12:34:07 PM: Why have you pur up with this for so long. TIO fixed my problem!

17965 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is VERY at 15 May 2011 02:55:23 AM
I've been a loyal Vodafone customer for 12 years. During all the network difficulties, I stuck through Vodafone & not once complained.. I constantly told people how good Vodafone were.
I went into a Vodafone Store to purchase a new phone charger for my Nokia N97. The salesman told me that they didn't have the N97 in stock, however, a Motorolla charger was exactly the same.. I purchased the charger.. I mean, a sales person is supposed to know the product they're selling right?
The charger worked on my phone for a day & then completely pushed in my socket.
I went back to the store & they told me to contact customer care because there was nothing they could do. I listened & did so. After spending over an hour on hold, my call was finally handled. After half an hour of been transferred back & forth, I was told that I needed to take my receipt into the store & get my money back..
Now, 1- I didn't care about the $20. What I cared about was the fact that I would now be without a phone, which meant I couldn't be reached, which could have resulted in missing job opportunities.. I was unemployed & only receiving Centrelink payments, so I couldn't afford to purchase a phone.
2- When somebody is working in Sales, they are supposed to have an understanding of the product they're selling. Why should I have gone without when it was Vodafone's mistake?

After a week of trying to fix the mess, I was told I could have a Nokia E63 for free. I was happy with this BUT then.. The day I received my new phone, I instantly had nothing but trouble with it. It would constantly freeze, or turn off, or at times, delete everything, like it did a reformat of some sort.
I contacted Vodafone only to be told that I wasn't covered under warranty as it was a free phone & that it would cost me to send it away.

Again, why should I fork out for Vodafone's mistakes??

I have been a loyal customer for over 12 years now. I purchase credit on a fortnightly basis.. Unfortunately, I don't qualify for a contract due to a bad credit history, so I can't even go about getting a new phone that way.

Does anybody have ANY suggestions as to what I can do to actually get a phone that works?
I tried my luck with Vodafone & asked for an iphone, the refused.. I asked to go on a payment plan for an iphone, again, they refused..
So if anybody has any ideas, it would be much appreciated.

Oh & I left out the best part.. Originally, Vodafone offered to fix my N97.. Something I was satisfied with. When I explained I purchased it from a friend of a friend, they asked what Network the phone was originally locked to. When I answered with Optus, they wanted nothing more to do with it & said that it couldn't be done..
I thought Vodafone would appreciate the fact that I'd actually unlocked a phone so I could continue using my Vodafone simcare.. $80 down the drain..

Vodafone claim to be huge on Customer Loyalty, to care so highly.. Well Vodafone, where's the customer loyalty for someone who has been loyal to you for over 12 years & to somebody who is now left without due to YOUR mistakes..

17964 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is Vodafone's cover me insurance doesn't cover me. at 14 May 2011 11:19:27 PM
i pay $10 extra a month on my contract to get the Vodafone insurance which they call cover me. only problem is as i have discovered when it comes to making a claim it doesn't acutely cover me or anyone else.
the cover me booklet says that it covers accidental damage but when i dropped my iphone and the back cracked quite badly and it was affecting the reception i tried to get it fixed by the insurance that i pay for each month only to be told that it didn't come under the cover because me accidentally dropping my phone is damage due to negligence not accidental damage at all. so Im like ok wtf do i pay extra for insurance for?
17 May 2011 04:07:54 PM: it clearly states in the insurance information that it will not be covered if the result is from negligence. This insurance matter is nothing to do with Vodafone and is to do with the policies of the insurance company which is Marsh insurance. No insurance company will cover a phone if it is through negligence. i suggest next time dont get an iphone or get a otterbox case.

after 2 months I have been told the network is being improved. I still get charged the same per month rate but i can't check my email, surf the web, use google maps . why am I paying this money again ?
14 May 2011 07:32:16 PM: You have two choices - ring up and complain and they will offer you 3 months free - complain more and the offer improves.

If this is not your preferred solution and you want your contract cancelled - complain more and cite poor network coverage, call drop outs, delayed SMS's poor data speed and state that they are not providing a useable service. Then they should let you go without penalty - then go to a decent telco (I hate to say this but Telstra).
17 May 2011 09:47:05 AM: I got 3 months free also, but it's been just as awful... i went from sat morning to mon arvo without being able to use my phone AT ALL. terrible... epic fail

17960 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Uterly useless systems at 14 May 2011 07:19:48 PM
Got released from my contract with Vodafone. Ported to Telstra - what a change a phone that works and provides a good data connection. I have to send my phone back and they were going to send a bag to return the phone.

Letter dated 5 May 2011 - informing me that I have to return the consignment bag within 8 days of the letter.

10 May - receive bag. (Its a long way from Sydney to Canberra after all)

11 May - return phone in bag.

12 May - receive a bill dated 12 May for almost $1300 for handset (this is 7 days from the date of the letter).

Does this company go out of its way to have absolute crap systems??? Does it go out of its way to aggravate customers?

That smiling moron Nigel Dewes was in the media announcing that Vodacrap was going to get into fixed communications with the NBN.

Given this experience with the mobile I would not touch Vodacrap with a barge pole. I hope the pathetic company goes out of business. I think it lives by the credo of infurate and aggravate customers.
15 May 2011 07:42:05 AM: Did you keep the tracking id for the phone return?

If so trace it via Australia post.

Let us know.

17959 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Warning New 10.1 Tablet at 14 May 2011 05:29:35 PM
Some bright spark at Vodafone has decided that they will charge per megabyte blocks for data on the new 10.1 Tablet. Which means for the average user where 1 or 2 gig would do they will now require 5 to 10 gig. So 1 gig on the new Tablet is not the same as 1 gig data on any other plan. Cannot really complain because it is in the Terms, but many may not realize the consequences.

17958 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Bad at 14 May 2011 03:47:54 PM
I transferred to Vodafone but because I had tried to sign up over the phone and the computers crashed they said they would call me to finalise the contract. No call. I then went to the store and they could not organise an account because the person I had contacted on the phone had started the account. They said they would call. Of course they did not. I then contacted over the phone and got an account which they said was finalised. Then I got told it was not finalised and that they needed some further ID. I then received the phone but they failed to import my number from my previous carrier so I got charged by two companies. My phone then died and they told me to upload new software which I did. It died again and I sent it off with notice I had uploaded software. Three weeks later - guess what - they uploaded software. It died again. I am informed it goes back three times before replacement. A loan phone is given. It does not charge. I take it back and another loan phone is given. It does not charge. Is this crazy. I want to support Vodafone but expect some reciprocation.
14 May 2011 07:04:01 PM: Good luck to you my friend.

Tried to get an unlocking code for my vodafone phone. Rang and sat on hold for more than 15 minutes, was finally told that I had an unusual phone and that they would calculate the code and send an txt in the next few days. Needless to say, I never received the message and now have to start all over again. Probably cheaper to buy an unlocked phone as it is not in their interest to unlock mine.
14 May 2011 02:52:59 PM: try going to vodofone.com.au/unlock and try unlocking from there if unsuccessful, then you need to ring vf customer care, if they don't have the codes, then they speak to your manufacturer ie nokia as they supply the networks with the codes, if it is an iphone then they contact apple and ina few days you plug it ito itunes

17952 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Dreadful customer 'service' team!!!! at 14 May 2011 10:42:10 AM
I am too furious to waste too much time making my blood boil reiterating all the problems I have had of late with Vodafone, however, a few are as follows:
- Not receiving texts from any network including vodafone for almost 2 months, despite constant calls being made the vodafone. The promised follow up NEVER happened and the I.T. department, if told about the problem as promised, too 2 MONTHS to fix the problem. The ONLY COMPENSATION I RECEIVED WAS ABOUT $50 CREDIT TO MY MOBILE. This is prepay so seriously what is $50 worth to them!?@?
- This was fixed and then a wk later occured again for another month!!!!
- The customer 'service' team in India are HOPELESS!@!!! They NEVER admit that Vodafone may be experiencing difficulties.... they just constantly suggest the customer MUST be doing something wrong!!!!!!! Grrrr. How insane.
- The most recent complaint is that I am trying to redeem a bonus bank vodafone phone and there are software issues once again. I took over an hour on the phone dealing with a stupid woman who kept once again putting it on me stating I must be entering the wrong password and therefore it's not letting me redeem it. Even after she reset it and tried and failed, she STILL blamed me... THE CUSTOMER!! Then she said there is a 10 min policy and she shouldn't be on the phone to me more than that!?@!?? She said she'll have to give me a call back later!@?? I don't think so!! What was that time going to achieve?? Was she going to resolve the problem and then phone me back?? No!! She said there was nothing she could do and therefore her manager agreed to just call back in 7 days and see if anything has changed. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!#!? I go overseas in 7 days and this was outlined to her.

UNBEARABLE BLOOD BOILING ''''''SERVICE'''''''!!!!

WHY OH WHY DO WE BOTHER BEING LOYAL?? ARE THEY DOING ANYTHING FOR US TO KEEP US WITH THEM!?@?$?

VERRRRRRRRY FRUSTRATING!!!!
14 May 2011 11:38:59 AM: which is a good thing as we now don't receive any bloody texts from you in the middle of the night

17951 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Billing, Coverage deceit at 14 May 2011 08:59:54 AM
Well, Vodafone has fecking done it again. First up I got a Vodafone account and mostly it was fine except for patchy coverage away from major centres. Then in 2007 my wife got critically ill and for convenience, I got a broadband link from them after I was promised that where we lived was covered. We weren't! Oh, it's coming soon. It didn't. I hung in because there is phone mast was near us and we got good excellent signal, just no data. Two years later at end of contract I cancelled the broadband dongle. I upgraded to a Voda Legend and guess what even the local mast phone signal went down. Still no data as promised again. Called thier accounts to cancel the data and they wanted to charge me cancellation even though they didn't supply the service as promised. After a heated argument the accounts manager relented and said that they would cancel the data link and give us a rebate of $50. Guess what? No canceled data. No $50 rebate (which would have covered last months bill) and now I get an overdue charge of $15.

The only relief I'm going to get is to cancel, pay Vodafone out and hope the pain eventually goes away.

Vodafone! Forget it.
14 May 2011 09:06:43 AM: You need to go to the TIO with this complaint.

You are correct they are not providing the service as agreed, the TIO will escalate your complaint to Vodafail with a mutually agreed resolution within 10 business days.

The details of the TIO are found in the How To Complain tab at the top of the page.

Good luck!

Three things are certain in life. Death, Taxes and no vodafone coverage.

What did the Vodafone executives say when Nigel Dews said he was quitting?
"you can't quit, we've got you on a 24-month contract"

One Vodafone customer calls the other. What did they say?
What does it matter they couldn't hear eachother.
16 May 2011 11:07:15 AM: same happen to me when I told them to quit my contract , as there is no reception at my work place , and there are constant call drops on the network when I am at work - the only difference is mt mobile network belongs to 3 - which is same like vodafone and 3 are now merged. I complained so many times but they are not doing anything, and I am stuck because of the 24 month contract and can not do anything.
