26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

11603 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Diabolical FAIL at 10 Jan 2011 05:28:18 AM
Reception is utterly USELESS. I travel all over Victoria for work and on most occassions I am forced to track down a pay phone to reach my cleints, what a dead set joke. I have to put up with another 12 months of this pain. Even in places such as Beverage which is on the out skirts of Melb I constantly see SOS calls only on my phone. My brother recently switched to Telstra and I'll be doing the same as soon as I can....

I had one of those 24month contract for wireless internet. I live in Camberwell, which is only an 11min drive to the CBD. In those 24months I barely got one bar, never got more than 10mins on the net before it crashed, when I called them (after waiting for almost 30mins) they argued with me and told me i was in a full-coverage area!!!!
They didnt believe me, how arrogant......
Anyway I kept my head down and saw out the contract, My god it was party time on the very last day of that contract...
My advice "WARN EVERYONE YOU KNOW NEVER TO SIGN UP WITH VODAFONE"

Rang urgently to get local police station number (Triple 000 is hopeless) and after much fumbling about by call centre guy, I was put through to someone's PRIVATE ADDRESS!!!! Just as well it wasn't life threatening! I was disgusted and have had enough. I then went to lodge a written complaint and their 'complaint form is not activated' on their website!! That is it now Vodaphone! It is off to the Telecommunications Ombudsman for you!

11561 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is reception. call dropping out at 9 Jan 2011 08:57:09 PM
Thank goodness i got out of my vodafail contract by pretending i already had it approved and was told to send the phone back! I was in Melbourne and reception was ok but then moved to Bendigo and it was hopeless even though they told me it was fine the calls would drop out constantantly and using the internet was painful. You may be cheap vodafail but its not worth it when you caant make a call and you cant even talk to a real person - Lara needs to be put to rest. The vodafail shops in Bendigo and Shepparton have both closed down - a sign of things to come...........

11521 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is ARGH! at 9 Jan 2011 07:18:59 PM
I received a phone call last week from someone with a thick asian accent claiming to be from microsoft customer support on my home phone, they had my name, my address, my date of birth and etc. What they were trying to do was get me to hack the registry on my computer so they could steal all my bank details and such, i believe that this is a direct result of vodofones inability and negligence on the part of keeping out details secret!
9 Jan 2011 07:48:13 PM: I got that too and im a Telstra homephone customer, you cant blame everything on Vodafone.
10 Jan 2011 07:13:09 AM: Vodafone require a home phone number so they can contact you in the event of your mobile not working. I believe this is how they got this number, my details and then tried to hack me... Just for the record i am the 'ARGH!' person above.

11519 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very at 9 Jan 2011 07:18:20 PM
Our new Samsung Galaxy Tab cannot send pop3 e-mail. It took 1 hour on the phone to eventually be told it is due to the reported network issues and they gave me a $10 credit. I had previously tried to call but could not get answered in under 20 minutes so gave up. I e-mailed the complaint (obviously not via the samsung!) twice and received no response.

On another occassion seeking to have my password reset for vodafones web site (to check my data usage), it took 1 hour again talking to what appeared to be overseas call centre staff who ultimately failed to be able to reset it. To this day I still cant log in and have to check usage by SMS service only.

For a phone co. it seems answering the phone is not important.

I am a 3 customer and since there merge i have constant call drop outs, i dont recieve mms, my phone freezes and I have poor recpetion in a 3G area. I have complained and all they do is say you have full coverage, there is no issue. My parents both are with 3 and have the same issues, we even have to walk up the street to send a message sometimes! Internet connection is also average. I will be ending my contact early and paying out the rest to go to telstra and actually have coverage, as optus seems to be just as bad as 3/vodafone.

Cannot get/maintain consistent contact with my wifes phone in our area. Vodafone/3 advise that coverage in the area is ok. Something doesn't add up. I was on Vodafone/3 for a while and then went to Telstra. I immediately noticed the remarkable difference with my reception. I'd never recommend anyone go to Vodafone/3.

11491 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is FAIL x million at 9 Jan 2011 06:30:11 PM
I have an iphone 3GS and here are the problems experienced with VODAFONE:

1. Internet - constant problems: always states that it is "searching". Connection always drops out.

2. Reception - calls constantly dropping out no matter what suburb I am in (city or country). Also, when trying to make calls it constantly says "FAIL". I sometimes have to dial a number 20 times before it connects.

3. Delayed text messages and voicesmail - I receive SMS's / Voicemails 2 or 3 days after they were sent to me.

4. Phone freezing all the time - especially when the phone is ringing and I'm not able to answer the phone as the phone functions have frozen.

5. Changes / updates made on the Vodafone website and then being incorrectly charged because the systen did not recognise/confirm my updates.

6. Customer service is appalling, being on hold for too long, calls being disconnected whilst on the phone is a vodaphone customer service rep.

I am EXTREMELY unhappy with VODAFONE and will support this site and do my part in order for VODAFONE to pull their heads in and get their act together.

I have plenty of more stories to list but I will be here all night.

Thank you,

Belinda

11485 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is shonky and sus devices? at 9 Jan 2011 05:48:27 PM
Shonky, because the company breached duty of care to contracted customers.
Sus, because I wonder if anyone else has "thoughts" about their devices?
My phone seems almost like a "second".

9 Jan 2011 05:53:31 PM: your phone is not made by vodafone, therefore the manufacturer is at fault
9 Jan 2011 06:02:56 PM: I knew that :) but just phone staff say my phone is fine and was wondering if, whith the number of problems Vphone buys phones that might be less than purrrrfict?
9 Jan 2011 06:06:29 PM: but how do they know if they are faulty when in a box?
9 Jan 2011 06:20:27 PM: cheaper?

11478 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 100% at 9 Jan 2011 05:25:52 PM
My husband and I regularly lost Vodafone reception, often for days at a time. We would call to complain and be left on hold for up to 40 minutes at a time, only to have someone at an overseas call centre tell us there was no problem (really?!).
the final straw came in september 2010 when we had no reception for THREE WEEKS. At the time i was 8 months pregnant. Not a good time to be unreachable by phone. My huusband's business also ran from his phone. We called Voda a number of times only to be told the towers were fine (again, really?!) Finally someone at an overseas call centre insisted on telling us we had to visit a voda store to get our SIMS checked. The nearest store is 4 hours drive away.
He kept repeating his spiel over and over, not listening to the fact a heavily pregnant woman couldn't drive 4 hours to check a sim when i knew the sim wasn't the problem.
We switched providers and had to wear the loss of business, time and energy.

I live in suburban Melbourne and can not rely on mobile phone or internet service to be consistent. One moment I will have full reception on phone and then phone drops out. Battery has been replaced twice by Epping store, just before Christmas the whole phone died on me, when I approached the store about problems the store manager (who tells me she has been there for 3 years and I've never seen her before)is only interested in trying to get me to tell her that the employee who replaced the batteries when they failed was Indian as she had a problem with him and it is against policy to replace battery if they don't work - even on a brand new phone. I now use my old phone and pay Vodafone for absolutely nothing.

11471 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is swapping providers... at 9 Jan 2011 04:54:10 PM
agreed vodafone is terrible. who is good??? anyone??? I've had poor experiences with virgin & optus as well and we all know telstras reputations is less than stellar so who is the lesser of the evil to swap too once we're free to go???
9 Jan 2011 05:01:55 PM: It depends what you are looking for?

1) If you are after the best coverage and performance and don't mind paying that little bit extra, Then the NextG network (aka Telstra) is who you want to be with
2) If you don't need the best performance (ie web browsing can be sluggish at times) but you are after a coverage that is almost as good as Telstra's, then Optus or any Optus reseller (such as iiNet, Virgin, Internode, TPG etc) at a slightly cheaper price than Telstra.
3) If you want no coverage, calls dropping all of the time, sms and mms arriving hours to days later and a company that has bugger all security in place, Well then Vodafone is who you want to be with.
9 Jan 2011 05:10:40 PM: tpg, bahhhhhha u got to be joking, i got a contact for internet and home phone and it is as bad as vodafone. trust me i am with two of the worst companys vodaFAIL and tpg- Typical Problems Genarated
9 Jan 2011 05:18:05 PM: It is not the TPG Network, it is a resold Optus Network product ;) ...however whilst I have never used TPG, they certainly couldn't be any worse than Vodafone ;)
9 Jan 2011 05:19:06 PM: Comparing ADSL Broadband TPG vs a Resold Wireless Optus 3G TPG is pointless, they are nothing the same

11468 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is pathetic at 9 Jan 2011 04:37:27 PM
Signed up on a 24 month contract in September 2009 after deflecting from 3 due to poor reception in my area. Vodafone actually had the gall to boast about how much better their reception was than 3, and that in my area the service was being upgraded by December 2009.

The first couple of months the reception was OK at best, now I am lucky to have a 5 minute conversation without it dropping out, and even then I have to stay in the one place - how is that MOBILE reception?? I am lucky I have Telstra WI-FI at home because the data loading is nothing short of disgraceful, and to top it off all of a sudden my wife's bills are now being direct debited WITHOUT her consent - how is this possible??

I have 8 months rmaining on my contract @ $88/month, will I have to pay over $700 to terminate my contract, or if I complain enough will I be able to get out of it at a cheaper fee??
9 Jan 2011 05:03:03 PM: My "contract" has five months remaining. Since Vodaphone appear to have breached their contract ( see privacy content)do we have a legal remedy?
9 Jan 2011 05:03:25 PM: Check out the 'How To Complain' link at the top of the page, you will no doubt end up at the TIO, but they should be able to assist you out of your contract penalty free. Best of luck and report back with how you get on :)

I'd ring & complain but I don't have half a day to waste on hold for absoultly nothing to be resolved. less than 6 months left on my contract & I look forward to telling them to p*ss off!!!!!!!!!

same problems as everyone else. constant drop outs in calls, text messages taking ages to send through, and i'm better off getting a mobile dial-up account cos it's faster than my current internet speeds. i'm lucky if i can talk for 2 minutes on the phone. and customer service is a joke. i cancelled my contract after days of talking on the phone to vodafone and am now with optus' $59 cap. it might be more than $45 and i don't have unlimited (aside from text) but at least i have a solid, constant 3G reception (emphasis on the 3G). i'm pretty happy and i hope it stays that way.

I have been with Vodafone now for about 16 months and have grit my teeth and tried to bare the horrendous coverage and non-existence of service. I have 8 months left on my contract.

My coverage is constantly terrible and drops our or does not work at all. I live in a built up area in Melbourne which is where the coverage should be very good, but still there is issues with phones calls and especially data use.

Vodafone should give all it's users a free month of use to pay back for the problems that it has caused everybody. If that sends the business broke, so be it, maybe that's what needs to happen.

11440 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Absolutely Fail at 9 Jan 2011 03:33:13 PM
I just called on 1555 (4th time they answered after average wait of 25 minutes), I asked them about security breach just happened on the website. I was talking to one of their representative, In his words:
"IGNORE THE NEWS"
"THE NEWSPAPERS SAYING GOOD AS WELL AS BAD THINGS"
"YOUR DATA IS SAFE"
"NO ONE CAN ACCESS THE DATA"
9 Jan 2011 04:43:10 PM: I wonder if that is an express guarantee from Vodafail about the safety of our personal information - or perhaps it's more weasel words from an organization in crisis. Sadly I wait for the confirmation that the data has indeed been breached.
9 Jan 2011 05:38:58 PM: it is true. No one can access the data, only employees and dealers.
9 Jan 2011 06:00:25 PM: Or someone using the credentials of an employee or a dealer. I wonder how much those credentials are going for???

Some of the posts state some branches use a common log in and password for all those within the particular store. Given this it would be pretty safe to sell access to say a private detective or worse.
9 Jan 2011 06:30:32 PM: why would someone do this?
10 Jan 2011 07:56:14 AM: For money. Perhaps they are being blackmailed. To pay off a debt.

Who knows why but they do.

11433 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is About as FAIL as FAIL can be! at 9 Jan 2011 03:10:04 PM
I loved 3... It had it's moments, but for the most part gave me great coverage and phone service... not particularly brilliant customer service, but most things were available online.. so not particularly worrysome... Then VodaFail takes over, and my calls drop out, my text messages don't send, or send multiple times. My voicemail costs go through the roof, because the phone never rings when someone calls me, and when I go in to see about getting a phone repair, I'm told that it's not under warranty... despite the fact I was told it would be for the contract term by 3.

The Vodaphone guy I spoke to said that "vodaphone is the only provider who provides a warranty that coveres the full contract term"... lot of rubbish that is. I'm sure everyone does that now.. something to do with a decision of the ombudsman..

But he said something else interesting... apparently there is a difference in how you ROAM depending on whether you are with 3 or with Vodaphone. If you are with 3, your phone will only roam from 3G Vodaphone, to 2G Vodaphone, and to 2g optus if that fails... Vodaphone customers will roam onto 3G optus...

So why the difference. I'm a paying customer - your company bought my company... so why am I treated differently... you're not billing me any differently!!!
9 Jan 2011 03:25:35 PM: 3 took over vodafail

11422 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is ridiculously at 9 Jan 2011 02:11:03 PM
I could not get reception in my home, in my car, in a shop, or within any structure whatsoever. I kept my phone beside a window in effort to still be able to receive and send calls and messages, at which point I'd have to hold my head extremely still beside that window when talking on it to avoid dropping out. I got facebook messages saying "I tried to call you but it said your phone was turned off" but it wasn't and I got no notification of the call attempt. Messages arrived to my phone sometimes DAYS after they were sent to me and some messages I sent out have NEVER arrived at their destination. And this newest story about the names, phone numbers and addresses of vodafone customers being able to be accessed over the internet scares me too because I put a lot of effort into keeping those details private due to my job. Surely someone can hold them responsible for this!

11420 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Monstrosity at 9 Jan 2011 02:02:53 PM
After receiving a faulty phone and having returned it for repairs 3 times and waiting six weeks and many wasted hours traveling and dealing with vodafone, I finally got the phone changed. Since then they have over charged me by over $250 on my bills and charged me for services that I do not have.
I have spent over 72hrs on the phone with vodafone, many times with the call dropping out because of their coverage and continuous drop-outs, without even a courteous phone call back. They never write any notes about the calls or complaints or promises made, so the story needs to be explained in full every single phone call.
Previously I was on vodafone pre-paid and had 3-4bars of reception at my house for about a year. I then preceded to change to a plan and my reception went down to 0-1 bars if I'm lucky for the last 6 months. How is it that they can claim 98% coverage when I have only covered about 1% of Australia with my travels and only had reception about 40% of the time and even then, 50% of the time it is only on 1-2bars!

i have been with vodafail for over 3 yrs now, and had nothing but problems with my internet and phone coverage!!! when i call them its the usual, there is nothing wrong with your service blah blah blah... i have also had 2 bills in a row with an extra $200 added to it, when i called up to see why i was told i used to much internet, after speaking to 4 different idiots there i was then informed it was a billing issue and they were aware of it, but yet neglected to inform all that had been affected! after arguing with a manager the 2nd time who basically told me t suck it up and pay the money i asked for a pay out figure and was put through a guy who told me the price, then proceeded to tell me that he had wiped my bill and gave me 8gb extra free of charge, YEAH GREAT, still beats the fact that i cannot use to internet in my own house when told "the new modem you are using is more compatible to the towers in your area" LIES LIES LIES, i have a tower 800m away from me and i get connection then lose after several mintues, i have to go outside and down the back corner of my yard to make a phone call... im sick of wasting my money monthly on a service i cant even use, and i pay 114 + 40 a month!!! after all the phone calls with complaints to them they still refuse to cancel my internet and phone without me owing anything, i deserve more then this voda and so does everyone else!!!

When I signed up to Vodafone I was told I would get coverage in country Victoria (4 hours west of Melbourne). To my surprise when I got back to my home town in the country, I had no service, infact the service was non-existent just 40 minutes out of Ballarat. This is so frustrating considering I'm always going into the country for work.

11392 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Of the highest level at 9 Jan 2011 12:52:27 PM
My $59 cap plan costs me between $89-$150 per month due to the sub standard coverage the 3G network allows.

Why are we paying for their poor network coverage!?

THIS IS NOT THE 1980'S... Technology should not be this outdated and poorly maintained!

11372 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodafone leaking private information about customers is a big FAIL at 9 Jan 2011 11:33:58 AM
I just heard and read that Vodafone customers banking details and other private info has been put onto a website so every THE personal details of millions of Vodafone customers, including their names, home addresses, driver's licence numbers and credit card details, have been publicly available on the internet in what is being described as an ''unbelievable'' lapse in security by the mobile phone giant.one can see.."" quoted from http://www.smh.com.au/technology/security/mobile-security-outrage-private-details-accessible-on-net-20110108-19j9j.html..this absolutely outrageous..I might cancel my contract. Criminals can get ur details and now purchase stuff without ur knowledge or even use confidential info as a leverage.
9 Jan 2011 05:20:27 PM: Actually the "website" is not available for general use. There is a login and password to access the secure site in which only dealers and stores have access to. Some store has passed on this information for people to log in. Today all passwords have been reset and they will be every 24 hrs. With credit card detals these are actually not displayed as they are ** out
20 Jan 2011 01:39:38 AM: So, now a crim has to get the new password everyday? Gee, I feel secure now.

9 Jan 2011 10:56:58 AM: Yeah i just read that... i wonder if that explains why my password to login online suddenly stopped working and my drivers licence number that i needed to use to reset it was suddenly wrong - every time i tried in the last month.
I intentionally made my account lock me out by putting the wrong details in until i have a spare 2 hours to spend on hold so i can get the details reset and changed.

11341 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Frustating at 9 Jan 2011 09:55:40 AM
I am currently looking for a job, as I need to make lot of phone calls to recruitment agency went for the $69 VodaFone plan. But I have received complains from many caller that, they cant reach me by phone. So the whole purpose of my getting a vodafone was useless. I live just next to Melbourne CBD, I am wondering if I have network problem, imagine what will happen to people who are further away.
9 Jan 2011 10:27:10 PM: I lost out on jobs because like you, i applied online thru recruitment comanies and never heard anything back - so i call a couple to find out how my applications were going, only to be told they called me numerous times and couldnt get thru, hence the jobs were taken by someone else. I was with Vodafone at the time. I cant emhasise enough how much I detest them........

11338 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Painfully Fail at 9 Jan 2011 09:41:22 AM
I went on a 2 year contract with vodafone just over 12 months ago after being on pre-paid for a while but now wish that i hadn't done so. The amount of drop out calls & no service available i've experienced is just doing my head in. I've recently received another phone bill & was shocked to see the total that I owed, after further investigation into my bill I discovered that when vodafone had no coverage but latched onto a Telstra tower I am being charged for this. My call would drop-out & it would cost me a $1.14 to call that person back not once, twice three times but four times (work calls). So I think that Vodafone has more than made it's money out of me over the last 12 months. If I could cancel my contract right now I would do so quite happily. VERY FRUSTRATED & ANGRY at the moment to the point that I could just throw my phone out the darn window & think nothing of it. Thanks for nothing Vodafone
9 Jan 2011 09:54:55 AM: When in doubt, Give the TIO a shout! Check out the 'How to complain' link at the top of the page for more information. They should be able to assist you out of your contract penalty free.

11337 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Ridiculous at 9 Jan 2011 09:36:15 AM
I'm having trouble with my mobile phone reception namely where I work in a major Melbourne hospital.
Prior to using Just mobile (vodaphone) I was with Savvytel (also vodaphone) and I received reception where I work. However since I've switched to Just mobile (vodaphone) it does not receive any reception while I'm at work, with SMS being delayed as well.
This obviously doesn't make sense, however on a recent trip along the east coast of Victoria to Mallacoota. This was also evident as my husband's phone is with Savvytel (vodaphone) and in certain areas eg. Tambo, Foster, Cape Liptrap, my phone would only have emergency signal and his would have reception to dial out.
I have two different phones (Nokia and Siemens) and have tried them both at work. It also did not make a difference when I took out my sim card and put it in my husband's phone (Motorola) to see if I got any reception. So the phones are not an issue.
Having poor reception in an inner capital city location is ridiculous, regardless of what their map tells you

11335 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very at 9 Jan 2011 09:27:42 AM
Since I signed a contract in Nov 09 I have been getting nothing but utterless and poor aspects out of my service. My account is heavily screwed up with over $5000 of credits issued for Vodafone's billing issues where I have been billed incorrectly and billed by there internal system generating charges irralevant. Today is my billing cycle and I have just logged into my account and found a $742 bill - (totally incorrectly billed) as I am on the $99 unlimited plan. I cancelled a contract about 2 months ago and last months bill included DOUBLE the cancellation charge and now they are trying to bill me again. This is utterless as now I have to waste my time calling them - (being on hold, transferred between departments and explaining my frustration and then probably being promised by them that this will not happpen next month and seeing it reappear. I am sick and tired of Vodafone, I've always kept on my best impression to always be positive when issues do happen to my account and services but this is just getting out of control.

My bill summary for since Nov-09: http://i52.tinypic.com/2z70ccx.png
My payment summary since Nov-09: http://i54.tinypic.com/2my45rr.png

As for reception wise I get one bar at work and then my phone will go to 'searching' then 'roaming' then followed by 3G and so on. As I am on call this is just super frustration and being informed by them that my work location has full 3G reception, I don't see this as the case. I've spoken to the iPhone team, replacted sim cards and tired different handsets but I still get the same old same old. Trying to use the internet on the train (Melbourne Metro) is also just disgusting just trying to update my Facebook status or check for notifications will just time out because my phone is constantely switching to roaming, 3G, searching and no service. Sometimes I need to put my phone into airplane mode just so I can get it to search for a 3G network.

I've contacted the TIO, I've contacted Vodafone and done everything to troubleshoot the issues they admit they didn't have until this site was open. I'm getting in loop holes and waste my time.

11321 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is PRETTY AWFUL at 9 Jan 2011 09:11:45 AM
I have just FINALLY spoken with someone about disconnecting my service - having gone elsewhere already. I'm told I still have to pay the full penalty nless I allow them to investigate whether I live in a low reception area. That would tip me into yet anotehr billing cycle - it takes about 72hrs - and then they will only waive the fee if my billing address is low. What about the rest of the state, including the neighbouring suburbs where I can't get recpetion in my brother's house? And what about the country areas I need to travel to for work where there is no reception? Apparaently they can't use any of those postcodes.
As for the news reports today about personal details being accessed - the fee is perhaps a small price to pay in the long run?
Now to switch my daughter's prepaid and we're completely FREEEEEEE.......

9 Jan 2011 08:47:06 AM: Ben, we feel your pain many times over, what a nightmare!!! Have you thought about the TIO details in the tab at the top, How To Complain ? I've found just very recently that the mere mention of the TIO has a tendency to focus Vodafail's mindset!! Good luck and let us know how you get on!!
9 Jan 2011 05:45:38 PM: its a prepay handset, not a big issue
9 Jan 2011 07:16:22 PM: i'll keep that in mind, but i think i've had enough trying to talk to vodafone for now :P

and it may be a prepay handset, but its still my money, in fact, i pay for the services before i can use them, and then find they dont work.

the biggest problem is that its not just me, its our whole towns vodafone customers
14 Jan 2011 11:52:21 PM: wow that sounds like a fun experience. jeez man if you are prepay just ditch them!
17 Jan 2011 08:24:19 PM: Ben, you're telling porkies mate, as much as you wish to present like you've called Telstra or investigated this issue in depth, you haven't. Vodafone doesn't have any Telstra owned or managed towers, they own their own infrastructure and the only portion of networks that work with Telstra are due to 3's roaming agreements with Telstra, which were established before the companies merged, and have absolutely NOTHING to do with Vodafone or Vodafone customers, and if you had in fact spoken to Telstra about this, they would've have told you that... Make up your own information and then hate the world for not being able to support your hypothesis, good call my man

11299 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Tricky fingers! at 9 Jan 2011 08:09:02 AM
Hi everyone. Vodafone have failed in ALL aspects of delivering a trouble free service. I have had to spend countless hours trying to get them to fix mistakes/inaccurate information etc ... tiring, FRUSTRATING & UN-professional! In November 09, I received a leaflet in the mail with an optional phone upgrade since 12 months of my contract had pasted. I took up the offer as the only main difficulty I'd had with their service at that point was contacting them with LONG DRAWN out WAITING periods. I took the brochure to my local V/office & they had NO information about it on their system - were checking the leaflet closely to determine if it was legit. I waited for hours whilst Voda contacted itself going through all the usual hoops & loops as I have in the past, in order to make sense of this offer. It took them 2 days to sort it out one office blaming the other whilst there was NO consolidation for the customer - ME. First phone they gave me (once all sorted) had a torn seal I noticed with a new one covering the broken. I rang again to further complain & was told that it may have been opened to show a customer - it wouldn't have been used before tho. Well, it wouldn't work, it was a faulty handset, I had to take it back to V in order to prove my point (blood boiling at this point). A new handset was eventually offered - seals all intact & now the problem is the signal strength. It drops out of coverage ALL the time, & downloading apps is virtually impossible due to the signal strength. I also tried & signed up with their Internet service after a week or so of complaining on the phone that the their was a Problem with the USB (endless calls & so called guidance from their Techsperts) they deemed it faulty also & sent a POST packet to return device - all I had to do was save a sticker for confirmation that I had posted it. They didn't cancel that plan tho as I had requested in the "cooling off" period & I then started to receive charges for a service I was NEVER able to use & had disconnected. They said, "we never received the USB back" & required information relating to receipt of re-postage. I had followed their instructions to the fine print and they KEPT STATING I HAD DONE SOMETHING WRONG. AFTER EXPLODING on the phone to a supervisor they looked into the matter & released me from that contract - but at a HUGE cost & time allocation to me.
I WANT OUT OF MY CURRENT CONTRACT (PHONE). I DEEM THEM UNFIT TO PROVIDE A HASSLE FREE PROFESSIONAL SERVICE - THEY ARE GROSSLY INCOMPETENT IN ALL AREAS AND IT'S TURNING OUT TO BE A VERY STRESSFUL & COSTLY EXPERIENCE TO MYSELF. I haven't listed ALL V's faulty/shonky behaviour either - believe me when I say there IS more to write about, however I can only unravel so much at a time before I get REALLY ANNOYED & need to take a breather.
Best of luck to all in trouble with V - persevere & GET THE HECK OUT OF THEIR CLUTCHES!!!!!! Remember - freedom is at the end of their dark tunnel!

Have been trying to figure out why my "My Vodafone' online account username has been disabled... Have been trying to sort out the problem for about 2 months now. It happened in September but somehow resolved itself in a few days without me having to do anything. Have sent through an email but keep getting automatic replies. The last one wanted information to make sure that it was my account. Decided that I didn't want to give my passport number, driver's licence details or 4 digit pin to an automated reply. Trying to contact customer care resulted in a minimum wait of 45min over 3 phone calls. Gave up and tried to go in store in Geelong. The staff huffed and puffed when I asked for help (I was the only one in the store at the time) then with a minimum amount of help told me it wasn't there area and they couldn't do anything.
Going to try to contact customer service again tomorrow as I'm still not able to get online as all...

11283 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Immoral and dysfunctional at 9 Jan 2011 07:28:58 AM
One day i got sick of my old phone as we all do so i decided to get a brand new phone from vodafone and i was as happy as a pig in shit. Only it wasn't long before content soon turned to contempt as i was forced to wait days on end for my number to transfer (i was previously with telstra...now i'm sorry) and to have my SIM card activated in their network.
At first i was happy to wait but that was day one, day two i grew curious as to why nothing has happened. Day three i became slightly lesser of the happy larry i was a few days ago but still held on to a forgiving grace and a blind hope of something that'll probably never happen. Day four i found myself deperately looking for an answer and asked for help at the store i bought i bought my phone from, being told it was a system fault and vodafone are tackling the issue so that it'd be fixed on the day, my spirits were lifted indeed so i persevered. Day 5...what? nothing? *facepalm*. Day 6...i wake up not in my bed but huddled in a lonely corner of my room where no light has ever touched it since the beginning of its days, i felt a fever creeping from behind ready to sap what remains of my vigor from my once beautifully sculpted body that has deteriorated into a lifeless skeleton, in the face of what appeared to be a singled out famine of technological communication with my teenage peers...i'm afraid my youthful spirit died along with my teenage stereotype in which i felt so at home...
Day...ugh...the days were a blur, it no longer mattered to me...without text, without phonecalls, without mobile facebook and the many thrills it brings with its trivial gossip that are somewhat gratifying to hear of as well as the stupid but "so true" facebook groups to join...i thought i would be dead very soon.
It was only when i got this brand new computer today that i am alive today, i am terribly grateful. surfing through hundreds of facebook updates following days of starvation was the most transcending sensation a youth like me could experience other than most other physical endorsements...but yes it felt good but i wasn't complete for i had no working phone plan.
then...i receive this mail from vodafone and these money lusting corporate pigs are happy to squeeze me for my money, i am being charged for a dysfunctional phone plan. o...m...g...
no.

Looking at the Melbourne 'The Age' article this morning "Mobile records exposed" webpage:

http://www.theage.com.au/technology/security/vodafone-mobile-records-leaked-20110108-19jgm.html

It begs the question is this only restricted to Vodafone or the whole of VHA i.e 3 mobile as well? I assume it would be Vodafone only.

I hope the Voda directors and managers don't get a bonus this year.

I established a business in Eltham around last Christmas. As soon as I moved in I found my nokia N97 mini cannot accept any call and cannot make any call within the town of Eltham. Usually I take train to Eltham from Heidelberg. As long as the Train arrived Eltham, my mobile stops working. It is kind strange that the signal bar is full and if somebody call me, the phone rings but as I try to accept the call, the phone give me an error "request rejected" and then "network busy". If I try to make a call, there is no dialing tone, but end with "network busy". I contact the Vodafone at 31st Dec 2010 and the guy told me they will give me a response in 3 days. This promise failed and I contact them 8 Jan 2011 again. The guy said they will contact me in 3 hours and give me a response. This failed too. I will try another time in next few days.

Running a business is already a lot of work.
After spending tens of thousands of dollars on advertising to increase the number of calls to our business, it is embarrassing and frustrating when the call drops out before we have a chance to take the customer's details. Vodafone is the only cause for concern. This is not what we signed up for.

2) internet access via phone is hopeless. Often 3 ~ 5 tries to get a page load...
3) I NEVER had a chance to speak to Technical Support because after 30 min wait, they hang off my call... wtf.. I got this so many time I finally give up.
Email communication receive 0 feedback apart from auto-reply of reception confirmation.

I've had years of struggle and hair pulling despair with vodafone, because they offer no customer service or coverage on areas they claim to have coverage.
Now I have new name for my pain VIRGIN MOBILE!
I wanted to start my new year with new service provider, so I went to the Virgin Mobile on-line store, because on this website somebody said that they have good customer service. I bought prepaid mobile phone, sim and Wi-Fi modem. Seemed simple enough, but they took the payment twice from my visa debit card.
I have spent the whole week begging them to return thee other payment, but they claim that they never took it. My bank tells me that they can see that Virgin mobile took two payments of $197.
I haven't been able to pay my rent or some of my bills, because they hold on to that $197 and refuse to let it go. I told Virgin Mobile that I cancel my order and have sent back all the items, hoping to get back the other $197 they admit taking.
Yes, they do have people eventually answering their phones at the end, but they can take ten days after receiving the goods back, before returning the first payment. The second payment may have been lost forever.
My bank and VIRGIN MOBILE MANAGER told me that it's my own fault to lose the money, because I went to make the purchase on-line! How stupid of me to use their official website, and Visa Debit card, for on-line shopping!
And I'm still stuck with Vodafone, because until I get my money back, I can't go shopping for new phone or modem.
8 Jan 2011 10:27:33 AM: Why are you wasting you time with anything other than Telstra NExtG? Your just moving from one cheap provider to another. Pay more, and get what you pay for.

I have been with vodafone for roughly 7 years. I always thought they had the best caps. Iv had troubles before but it got unbearable when I got an iPhone. People can never get through to me even though my phone is on, my calls go silent for minutes and then end, costing me money to hear nothing. My partner is also with them and it can take me up to an hour to get through to him and everytime I hear "hi there" it is costing me more money to be annoyed. It's nice to know it's not just us. If this website fails to make them do something about this problem I won't be staying with them.
8 Jan 2011 05:56:05 AM: Not to mention the abuse I get from my partner over not being there to pick him up from work when mags don't come through or calls go straight to msg bank
23 Jan 2011 07:32:32 PM: Only a telstra customer would call it message bank lol

poor reception even in Mel CBD,only occasional internet access
tricked by salesperson's map that pinpointed my house as 3G,excellent internet coverage.Website 'under repair'to check usage(OK for paying bills)Hours and hours wasted on the phone to very polite techos who cant fix the problem....its too big!
Cant use 1.5g or $450 of calls .....seldom any net, poor quality calls, drop out rate high....if you can get on at all...
8 Jan 2011 11:51:29 AM: Reminds me of '3' and their size 4 font contracts, being labelled a bad credit risk because you did a download, and then getting service cut off etc.

Try owning a service business with the VF mobile as your contact number and you don't get your voicemails from missed calls sometimes for hours but other times not for days! I have lost more money than I care to think of because of this and all they can tell me is it is my iPhone causing the issue.

Also, I have started to get bills for $600-700 with heaps of data usage in the last 6 months. Honestly, I have not changed the way i have used my phone enough to warrant this. Also, It's not bad when I basically don't use my phone for anything but texts and calls (and retreiving two day old voicemail messages). I have spoke to VF re this and they can't give me any answers!

I have been waiting 1 month for my IPHONE4 following my 3 breaking a month ago when i inital rang vodafone to get a new fone as i have been paying insurance for my phone for 2 years i was told they couldnt give me one i then asked why have i been paying 10$ a month for insurance if you dont deleiver. After about 30mins on the phone (72mins on hold mind you) i was told they will order me a phone to be sent in the new year and would give me a $30 credit. So new year has come and on the 4th jan i received a text stating my phone will be delived on the 7th, i then received a call on the 5th confiming my phone will be deleived on the 7th. So i took the day off so that i can be here when it arrives. 6pm come and no phone i then called vodafone and was ept waiting for 1 hour and 20mins before my call was answered... all i got was we are sorry there was problems at dispatch i then asked why noone called to advise as i took the day off and they could say nothing but sorry. I then asked for compensaton and that i want the phone by Monday as they advised me on the phone. The only compensation they gave me was $100 credit! Thats not even my days wage and NO garentee that it will arrive Monday.

On 16/12/2010 my two vodafone iphones started recieving no service at all in the eltham area.I could send and recieve texts and had full internet but could not make or recieve any calls at all. I contacted vodafone by phone and after waiting 40 minutes i was told to try various things including putting the sim card in another phone and to try a new sim card I did all they said to no avail.I went into the vodafone store on 20/12/2010 after not being able to get through by phone for two days and many attempts. The girl in store said they would contact me about the problem within 24 hours but they didnt.I tried to phone on 6 more occassions, i only managed to get through once but had to hang up after one hour due to work commitments.I then went into the vodafone store again on the 4/01/2011 and waited 30 mins to be served and another 30 mins while staff tried to help. They said someone would contact me in 24 hours. They didnt.I went back into the vodafone store on the 6/12/2011 waited 30 mins to be told again that someone would contact me in 24 hrs, they didnt.on 7/1/2011 pm i went to vodafone and they said there is nothing they can do.
I belive it would be fair and just to have my contract cancelled so that i can go to a provider that provides service. It has nearly been a month of no service and hours and hours of waiting and calling and trips to vodafone stores, i am sooo frustrated and find it incredible that a company can get away with this treatment of customers. I run a small business from home and this problem has impacted my earnings and business greatly.
I have just submitted my complaint to the TIO.

11106 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is superfail at 7 Jan 2011 03:16:44 PM
using vodafone mobile broadband for 6 months in thornbury, northern suburbs of melbourne. Frequent disconnects (within 2mins constantly!) regular ip address conflicts (overloaded network) signal strength has never been better than 'poor' or 'very poor'. Vodafone Mobile Connect software is terribly buggy, constant RAS errors preventing reconnection until i restart the computer. Unplugging the modem and reconnecting it sometimes solves the ras errors and allows me to connect, but often the VMC software cannot find the device at all and prevents the computer from being restarted (endless loop at the Vista shutdown screen until BSOD) until i hit the reset button. Its been nothing but an exercise in frustration for months, and is the most pathetic excuse for a service i have ever encountered in the telecommunications industry. Id rather be on dialup its substantially more reliable, nuff said. My connection has dropped three times in the time its taken me to write this.

No service, no 3G and definitely no happy! They demand I pay my bills on time, but fail to provide me with anything like reasonable service! Don't even bother calling customer care- " you're number 193 in the queue!" Oh my :( another disgruntled Vodafone customer...or sucker some might say.
8 Jan 2011 10:51:21 AM: Yes, their accounting is inaccurate, unaccessible and have no idea what a charge is for as 'Bill History' is always 'experiencing communication difficulties' and this has been the case for about a month. The wording of future payments due is 'was due' as if you are behind in a payment. Payments made have not been updated on web page and no longer can get a paper bill from them.

8 Jan 2011 10:54:02 AM: I know, they don't update any payments made that are not the usual monthly amount. Tried many times via ~10 emails, phone calls and visit to Vodafone shop. I want to get this sorted so I don't have to pay twice when I leave.

1
cancelled service still being billed complete with threatening letters despite 3x40min waiting time and then 40 min conversation with a person with a fairly good grasp of English but insufficient for the problem
2
sms arriving 6 hours late
3
despite assurances to the contrary my phone keeps dropping out (with four bars signal strength) in Richmond such that it is common to redial three times during a conversation with a customer
4
Lara is no help and seems to only transfer me to a human when I shout obscenities at her
5
often when i follow the help menu i finish up in a dead end where i have to hang up and start again
6
have been with Voda for ten years. Initially the customer service was so good that I didnt mind the coverage but i did not expect both would ge worse

I am in the middle of doing the contract walk. Been a Vodafoney customer for one and a half terms now. The first contract was okay until I got the iPhone. I'm sure most of you who are dataphiles notice the poor 3G service. Calls also drop out and the iPhone loses the signal and then has to be restarted to get the signal back etc.
I registered my complaint through email (very fast communication - one email a day) and was told that they were well aware of the problem, try to clean the SIM, switch to 2G instead; they are upgrading some suburbs etc. They offered me 2 months credit and I rejected it, preferring to walk. I then registered with the TIO to force Vodafone's hand in releasing me.

Intermediate hoop jumping - Vodafone then replied with a bunch of technical questions about the service like they'd never heard of this fault before. Some of the questions even requested my full name, telephone number and PIN (memory lapse).

I submitted the answers with the reference for the TIO submission. Looking forward to email number 4 from Vodey

11076 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Failing and failing ... at 7 Jan 2011 12:02:15 PM
I pay for a third generation data service W-CDMA (UTMS) which Vodafoney started to introduce as far back as 2004. I have a great Google Nexus One (not from Vodafoney)and to get it to send and receive SMS/MMS I have to set it to GSM/CDMA. Okay, it is Google's programming blunders that mean standard messaging tries to send too big an image file and so I have to use CHOMP or HANDCENT (prefer the latter) which automatically reduces the file size to 300kb which Vodafoney will send/receive.

I complained to Vodafoney from my account page with them, and have yet to receive a reply. In anger I complained to the Telecommunications Ombudsman who is taking up with the carrier. See the back two pages of The Australian Financial Review concerning the company and the lack of action by the ACCC. It makes interesting reading.

I couldnt have used a wrong password as my passwords are automated through firefox and i doubled checked to make sure it was the same.
Customer care couldnt explain to me why it got unlocked.
My bill is due on the 27th Jan and i wanted a break down as to why its showing $128 and she couldnt explain to me that either and said i would have to wait till the 11th !!

My wife has complained for 6 months that she can't send text messages from home and now has to use the landline to make all calls from home as it never works. complained to the TIO and waiting on VF to contact me. Last night I thought I would call them to fast track my exit. First call - technical issue. 2nd call dropped out. 3rd call on hold for 57 minutes (where is the call back feature ) Finally got through to be told I am a business customer and I need to be transferred. The guy said he would transfer me to the queue, when asked how long he said unsure but they are closing soon!
I asked to have a call back, he said would you like me to call you back tomorrow. Why I asked so you can place me in the queue for business as you cannot help me, wouldn't it be better if the business section called me back. He thought that was a good idea !

Over it and just wanting to fast track my exit but of course can't do that as I can't talk to them

IM WITH 3 COVERAGE JUST AS BAD.....
6 Jan 2011 10:39:13 PM: Here here I agree, and the call centre is also in India
7 Jan 2011 07:17:49 AM: are'nt they the same company
7 Jan 2011 07:50:39 AM: 3 and vodafone both merged in VHA, but they use completely different towers and roam off different networks also, so the network is different.
If you check the three.com.au website and vodafone.com.au website and search for the coverage maps you can see that they are currently still offering different coverage. The coverage should be completely moved and improvements finalised by 2012 but what I understand from the stuff I've read online
8 Jan 2011 09:16:55 AM: Furthermore... I now seem to roam more on Voda 2G than stay on 3s own 3G network...

10997 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Poor Reception at 6 Jan 2011 10:16:15 PM
I live in Melton, i have reception in 3 areas in my house if I step either side of these areas the phone drops out. I have trouble sending sms everywhere. Picture messages always fail to download. The only place i have decent reception is at work which is Yarraville. The reception is crap all over Melton yet I was with vodafone 3 years ago and the reception was great. I moved to Optus which was horrible with over charged bills and forever increasing costs. Hence why I moved back to vodafone. I probz should have gone to Telstra.

Seems there is big problems in Australia with all forms of comunications and there service/customer service. The really needs to be some sort of ass kicking.
9 Jan 2011 04:44:01 PM: I know what you mean. I am in Melton too, and if I hadn't racked up over $100 in credit I would change tomorrow!
11 Jan 2011 06:41:52 PM: problem is Telstra is to expensive and you have to have a nextg comaptible phone so your limited the crap they offer. Why dont they just upgrade the tower in Meltron if they know its so bad, hell there is 2 towers I can see from my house. Obviously nothing to do with vodafone.

I signed up with Vodaphone only a month ago, because the coverage maps on their webpage supposedly had better coverage than 3, not. I wanted coverage in a rural area but don't get it, my children get coverage on 3. I have to travel 10 minutes up the road to get coverage, not liking that at all. Not happy with Vodaphone at all. Spent an hour & a half on hold last night, then miraculously, got cut off before I could speak to anyone. Is there any truth in the rumour I heard that I can get out of my contract & if so, what happens with the phone I received????
6 Jan 2011 07:01:24 PM: DONT LEAVE VODAFONE<please, we are buying a fleet of shuttle busses, and soon you will be able to jump on a bus and we will drive you to the top of the nearest mountain so you can make those calls
6 Jan 2011 07:10:34 PM: They are already doing that, but the person I wanted to call was also on the bus, so by the time we got to the blue mountains we had nothing left to talk about
6 Jan 2011 08:00:03 PM: Many people have been allowed out of their contracts, including site owner Adam. However, individual circumstances vary so there is no guarantee either way. You can go to our 'How To Complain' page for more information on what to do. As for the phone you have now, they will either ask you to send it back, or work out with you a mutually agreed upon price to pay so you can keep the phone. Best of luck! - The Vodafail.com Team
