Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

2665 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 01:55:18 PM
Where do I start with Vodafone ..... First of all I signed up almost two months ago for a $49 vodafone cap, which was advertised as $450 worth of credit, 1.5gb of internet and 200 free minutes to vodafone and 3 networks across australia. It has been nothing but a nightmare! It took almost a week for my account to be set up, I was an existing customer and continued with the same number. I called vodafone to ask why it was taking so long and spent 2 hours on the phone to be told I needed to go into a vodafone store. I did go into a vodafone store, only to arrive and be told I didnt need to be there either and that my sim would connect in a " few hours" .... it didnt. So back to the store I went again, to be told again give it a couple of hours.
Secondly I ended up paying a bill twice because theyre system crashed which left me short for Xmas, and to top it off I am actually only getting 500mb of internet per month which the plan I signed up for stated 1.5gb.
Last but not least the reception is terrible, it takes weeks to get to an operator if you call them it is a disgrace!

I am on a $200 a month plan - I consistently need to go out onto the street to make a call. Even the phone they gave me doesn't work. If I hear 'robot lara' again - I will be sick. What a joke. Vodafone Australia apparently has no people in Australia. All you get is that stupid Lara or an Indian call centre.

Now that THREE and vodafone have merged, the combining of two of the worst networks is going to be a disaster. I have been a 2 year customer with three and the reception (basically no reception) i get is terrible, and i live in metro melbourne. I'd be rich if a i had a dollar for everytime my calls get cut due to bad reception! If there is going to be a class action on vodafone there should definetly be one on THREE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well My partner and I have two services with Vodafone. we have had them for almost a year now. We moved down to melbourne recently and (almost 3 months ago) and the service drops out, no coverage and I tried contacting the Service center on different occassions but couldnt wait on the line for longer than half an hour and still not get through. I however got through to them once after 3 hours of atempts and the reason I was so persistant was because my partners handset got stolen. I tried 4 times and waited different times, the successful one was for 48 minutes. By then , I was so frustrated I couldnt even complain about my the network connection. Look i love the rates Vodafone offer but since moving down to Victoria I just am very frustrated with the signal and their customer service.

2635 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Third World Country Service at 27 Dec 2010 01:50:49 PM
Ive been with vodafone since may 2010 i regret switching from optus to vodafone because:
- Poor customer service
- Long wait to get through to Customer Care
- Calls Drop Out
- Messages delayed (sending & receiving)
- UNCLEAR charges!!

I was sent out a bill for 90 dollars for the month of may paid the bill on time than my service was disconnected in November as 40 dollars was apparently overdue.. Not knowing what this 40 dollars was for i called customer care (waited 3 hours to get through to someone) and i was informed that someone had mistakenly paid 40 dollars on my account and that they sent me a bill for the wrong amount and that they had transferred the 40 dollars to the person who "accidentally" made the payment on my bill.. But i was not notified of this until i contacted them in regards to my service been cut off which was 6 months later!! NOT GOOD ENOUGH!! how can someone "accidentally" make a payment on my bill when i have my own account number and personal details and security code!!

THANKS FOR THE THIRD WORLD COUNTRY SERVICE.. CANT WAIT TILL MY CONTRACT IS FINISHED SO THAT I DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH VODAFONE EVER AGAIN..

I have been a customer of Vodafone for 10 years PLUS, always payed my bills within a respectable time bracket and never really had any issues until now. I have just discovered that my latest contract of 24 months has mysteriously gained another 3 months on top of the 24 months. I have gone into their stores and repeatedly asked for some assistance, but I do not receieve any calls etc...NOTHING. (Trying to get onto a customer service rep is a nightmare too) As far as im concerned, this is ILLEGAL and I will be trying to take this further! I too suffer from POOR reception and can only stand in one part of my home to make and/or receieve calls..Vodafone, ARE YOU SERIOUS???

2585 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is I'm looking at going to telstra! at 27 Dec 2010 01:39:22 PM
I have been a loyal vodafone customer for 8 yrs and in the past 3 yrs the service just seems to get worse and worse. I run a buisness from my phone and a lot of the time i never recieve a call only a msg ring to check my voicemail messages. What really pisses me off is that i count on my phone ringing to recieve the call so that way i can assure the customer of my service and in turn book them in, with the phone not even ringing i lose the job to another supplier so it costs me money. I have rang vodafone several times only to be told it is a national issue and will be fixed asap, well it never gets fixed and when i do ask for some form of compensation they say they will get back to me once they have talked to their supervisor which never happens. Enough is enough vodafone admit your mistakes and compensate the people who pay you good money for a failed service!

Message sent to vodafone, let's see what the response will be: "I have been experiencing worsening reception issues in recent times around Melbourne generally but particularly in the center of Rosebud on the Mornington Peninsular in Victoria where reception is almost non existant any longer whereas it was perfectly fine previously. It is important to me as I travel and spend time in Rosebud and therefore am wondering why this has occurred, whether it was simply a technical issue that will be resolved very quickly or what the cause is for the decline in service because otherwise I fear will have to change providers."

2581 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No Service! at 27 Dec 2010 01:38:21 PM
In the last 4 weeks I suddenly have no service at my house. When I called them they made me reset factory settings. This worked for about 5 minutes, long enough to get off the phone to them. I then wrote an email of complaint. I got back an email with some crap copy and pasted from their website, which of course did not answer my question as to why suddenly now I do not have service at my house. It is frustrating, especially when this is my only way to contact people. I want out of my contract with them as there is no point being on a capped plan, when I can't use it at home!
27 Dec 2010 06:57:59 PM: Had the same thing happen to me, not only at my house but in my whole town! get out of your contract and switch telcos, because they wont bother to fix it. I know ten other people in my town it happened to, all complaining at the same time, adn we were all being told that there were no other reported problems and that coverage should be fine. Dont wait for them to fix it, just go!

I left Vodafone years ago, as they assured me I would be covered if my phone was lost/ stolen if I paid for insurance. My phone was stolen, and guess what? it turned out that the insurance paid did nothing - it allowed me to pay for a new phone (which would have been possible without the insurance). Then they "forgot" to cancel my account at the end of my contract so I had to pay an extra 2 months. Needless to say I would never go back to Vodafone! Sorry to all those people out there who have been putting up with this company and "service"

The call reception is often terrible or the calls drop out so more money is wasted trying to reconnect . Have been unable to make calls at inportant times due to an overloaded network ,. also God help you if you need to call the call centre , the automated service will drive you crazy and after a about half hour in a call quew the call then usually drops out so you have to start all over again.

2547 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Mega Fail at 27 Dec 2010 01:31:39 PM
I was silly enough to buy a phone on Vodafone Prepaid a while back. The phone wasn't a known brand. Just said Vodafone on it. Anyway, only a few weeks after buying the phone I accidentally ran over the charger with my desk chair and wrecked it. I tried to get a replacement at Vodafone shops and they said they didn't have any. I tried ringing Vodafone and they said the didn't have parts for it even though I had just bought the thing. I asked for my call to be escalated and the manager I spoke to said it was my own bad luck and I would have to get another phone! Like I said I had only had the phone a few weeks and they just told me to buy another phone. No other chargers would fit the phone 'cos it was some weird Vodafone own brand. So I had a bran new phone I could not charge and Vodafone said that was my fault.

For other reasons I didn't bother getting a new phone for a long time afterwards. Of course I didn't get Vodafone. But when I tried to get my old number ported over I couldn't. I went to the Vodafone shop and they told me my old number had been "made inactive". Whatever that means. I had a 365 day pre paid so you would think the number would not be used often. Anyway, they wanted me to pay them to make my old number active again. I didn't pay them. I got a new number instead which is a pain but it's better than giving money to a terrible company like Vodafone.

I hate them. Dealing with Vodafone was a disaster for me. And it's not just technical problems. They treat their customers with contempt. They do not deserve your business. Don't deal with them or you'll be sorry like I was.

I'm with 3 and have been a for almost 5 years. I don't get reception in my house in the inner suburbs. I'm talked to them many times and they let it slip on one call (last Christmas!) that they know my house is in a bit of a black spot but they still would not let me out of my contract. We get drop out all over the place. I have been thinking it might be my handset? Highly frustrated.

I called the customer service to terminate my service at the end of November after realizing this is widespread issue with Vodafone. 3 weeks later, I got an invoice again. Bloody hopeless. Now I am with Telstra Next G and could not be happier.

I signed up with Vodafone and got a Iphone (which I love) and was told that the coverage covered my area (Derrimut)! What a bunch of crap! I have to stand in a certain spot to get bars and my calls are always dropping out! Purposely got the contract as partner and friends all have Vodafail and thought it would save me money, but I still have to use a landline as coverage is sooo bad!! Thank god I have WiFi, otherwise I prob, couldnt cope as I know the other times, I have tried to get onto the internet, its soooo slow!!! Now, I have to wait nearly 1 1/2 years to move on, or pay a heafty leaving fee!! CRAP!
27 Dec 2010 03:33:20 PM: You can break the contract. Tell them you are going to contact the Telecommunications ombudsmen and lodge a complaint for failing to provide the service you signed up for. I live in Macloed 18km from the cbd and can't get regular signal. I have since had to buy alternate internet and a home phone plan ontop of the 24 month mobile plan that I am locked into.
My phone is continually in and out of signal. My hunch is that the I Phone is no good as I get better signal with my old crappy $96 Nokia, however 3 coverage is terrible.

I'm with Three (bought out by Vodaphone earlier this year)and was in a two handsets on one plan deal. In order to upgrade my handset I was told I needed to transfer the service into my name (it had been in my mother's name as we signed up when I was 17 although I have always paid my own bills). I was told this would take a month, then I could upgrade. I worked my way through the Kafkaesque red tape and agreed to wait the month it would take for the transfer of service. The transfer went through two days ago and now I discover that after having been with them for 10 years and having a phone that is four years old because it was too dificult to get a new one on the contract I was on, I now have to wait another three months to upgrade my handset on my new plan because they consider me to be a new customer with a new phone. No one mentioned this when they told me I had to sign up to a new plan in my own name. I now have a four month wait for a new phone and am locked into a contract when I was given the impression by their staff that I could upgrade right away which was why I agreed to the new contract in the first place. Deceptive conduct, no?

2513 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Massive fail! at 27 Dec 2010 01:20:22 PM
I had massive problems with voda around 5,6, and 7 years ago. People would call me and my phone appeared often appeared to be on a call, OR the "network is busy... try again later" massage would great my callers... I would have full reception bars on my phone at the time of the calls. I should point out this was NOT a hardware issue with my Nokia phone (other sims for other networks would work 100%.)

Also. Ive been with 3 (now voda) for around the past 5 years. The network used to good until around about the time iPhones came out. With the massive influx of customers joining 3 killed the network. Its as though NO extra lines were created, however there is a 5 fold increase in customers. The internet is slow, if non exist ant at times, I would be lucky to get a 3 minute call before I have to call back the person on the other end of the line. Most 10 minute conversations would require 3-4 calls to complete the conversation.

From using other networks overseas - then using the 3/voda network in a city like melbourne - in in my opinion this network is appalling, but I guess im preaching to the converted.

2501 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Positively disgusting at 27 Dec 2010 01:17:55 PM
I signed up to Vodafone in early October 2010 based on very confident advice from crazy johns at Westfield Doncaster, stating that their coverage was better than Optus and the coverage map shown to me had all my areas of interest covered. To my horror on my drive to work the very next day I noticed signal drop outs as I drove south east on the Monash Freeway. I had no coverage at my place of work! After abut 6 weeks of constant painful calls and hours of listening to LARA's cheerful yet irritating rant of 'we'r flatout at the moment', Vodafone agreed to cancel my contract. I was informed that I would get a bag by mail and had to send by my phone. 5 weeks and a few more calls past I never received this bag! I am currently on holiday so was left with no option but to return my phone to the crazy johns store that I got it from.
Vodafone is honestly not fit to be a telco, I will be happy to invest some of my time in doing whatever it takes to teach them a lesson.
27 Dec 2010 01:27:07 PM: it took me 3 months to get this bag to return my broadband modem, and about 10 phone calls to the company (see above rant). Then i ended up getting 2 bags in one day. Fuckn idiots.

2481 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is You get what you pay for at 27 Dec 2010 01:13:26 PM
In the telecommunications field you generally get what you pay for. Vodafone doesn't do a bad job in the major cities. Prosecuting this case for the solicitors will be difficult because of the greyness of the contracts regarding coverage and speed issues. No Telco guarantees these things. In a country as vast as Australia, i.e. 7 square million kilometres with 22 million people, coverage issues are a concern. We are not Singapore or South Korea. The issues of jurisprudence raised by this class action are numerous. The problem with many people in Australia is that they expect Rolls Royce chauffeur driven service and will are only prepared to pay for a Maxi cab. People's expectations have been raised to a ridiculous level as well. If a fifteen year old today does not have a mobile phone, internet and pay-tv they feel underprivileged. When I was that age if I had 20 cents for the phone booth I felt pretty good about myself. It is all about perspective. Conversely to this consumers do have a right to push the market forward through activism. Momentum can help move mountains, and even phone towers.

P.S. I do not work for Vodafone.

The list is quite endless: i send and get charged for messages my recipients never receive; phone calls drop out mid call; sometimes when my phone says i have full coverage - and i can make outgoing calls myself - people calling me are told that i am out of range; i have not received messages that others have sent me... and, of course, coverage is in general miserable. I am only 20 kms from the Melbourne cbd and coverage here - despite what network maps illustrate - is generally of bad quality, and regularly disappears. The only reason i don't change is due to my partner and several friends also using vodafone, so the vodafone to vodafone minutes work for us... when there is coverage.

Then all went pear shaped. The alliance with 3 seems to have had a negative effect. All my friends on 3 that used to complain about service I used to laugh at. Now we get the same. Problems, yes we have had a few.
Overcharging on bill 3 times in 12 months.
Terrible coverage at home and work. Call drop outs and data failings.
Spent over 3 hours at Voda store trying to resolve an issue. It wasn't. The store ended up closing.
Just to name a few...

2470 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No Coverage at 27 Dec 2010 01:08:15 PM
I live in Clayton South (Westall) and everywhere in my house or my yard my reception never goes above 1bar. When i take the train to the city, same story. No coverage on 1/2 of my journey. How frustrating is that? On top is how slow is the data transfer? Downloading on vodafone? U would be crazy. Surfing? If u have 5min for every page to download. This apply to anywhere u r. In the middle of the city to outer suburb. I am tired of this, their plan r great value but the service is just crap.

I'm am sick and tired along with everyone else of poor coverage for phone calls and internet downloads. Constantly having to ring people back and apologize for my calls dropping out, which is very embarrassing particularly for business calls. Downloads are continually stopping or going at about a third of the speed of friends on other networks. Quite simply - NOT GOOD ENOUGH!!!

I've just read an article on The Age website about possible class action against Voda-freakin-fone. I'm so glad this website exists!

Earlier this year I was left without ANY coverage whatsoever for almost a week. I called their bloody Indian call centre a dozen times, I emailed them via their website and to this day the issue has not been explained to me. Coverage returned after about a week but it certainly was no thanks to Vodafone's customer service (what service??).

I am locked in a contract until August 2011...I am counting down the days till I can break free and get away from this crappy carrier!
27 Dec 2010 03:20:45 PM: Someone just posted that you can get out of your contract at no charge. This is your right under consumer law since they are not providing the service they agreed to under your contract.
27 Dec 2010 03:24:57 PM: You can break the contract. Tell them you are going to contact the Telecommunications ombudsmen and lodge a complaint for failing to provide the service you signed up for. Also quote them "IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO ENTER INTO A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT IF YOU CAN NOT LIVE UP TO THE SERVICE DESCRIBED"
29 Dec 2010 12:03:36 AM: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/ipad/vodafone-contracts-null-and-void/story-fn6t2xlc-1225971869413
29 Dec 2010 07:25:17 AM: I had a problem with Vodafone, and after banging my head against a brick wall I contacted the ombudsman office. they gave me a direct number to Vodafone, I wish I'd kept it as I would have published it now, but as soon as I called that number my contract was cancelled.
29 Dec 2010 10:12:52 AM: Don't blame the indian call centre, blame Vodafone for paying them too little and not monitoring them.

My Vodafone service is unbearably slow or non-exsistent.
I have a iPhone 3gs $69 cap with them.
I cannot get any service when I go to any place remotely outside of the 20km melbourne city radius, though both my sisters telstra and virgin mobile phones work fine. My internet is so slow it might as well not be there, I live 20 minutes from the city centre, i can't imagine how the people in country areas deal with it.
27 Dec 2010 08:57:26 PM: I know how you feel i live in 3155 about 35 mins from the cbd and as im sitting here in my study i have my phone next to me (iphone 3g) and ironically it sais "No Signal"

It has been one month and 3 days since I connected Vodafone. I received my SIM Card on 9 December since then I have been calling Vodafone 15 times and every time waited at least 1 hour and 30 minutes without any result. I used 8 deffirent phones from HTC Desire HD to iPhone4 Nokia n97, Nokia N8, N95 iPhone 3G and 3GS.

* Low or No signal
* Signal drops out while on conversation
* Internet Date fails 99%
* Poor Customer service.
* Still waiting for call back from Vodafone technical support team.

I regret joining contract with vodafone.

I tried to use the Mobile 3G broadband connection after signing up for a 2 year contract. I tried to get out of the contract the very next day after signing, but it was difficult to speak with anyone in customer service - I spent many hours on hold. I finally gave up and let the contract run it's course without using it. Vodafone seem to intentionally make it almost impossible to have complaints properly addressed. I will never do business with Vodafone again.
27 Dec 2010 04:28:39 PM: Yes I tried several times unsuccessfully to leave my contract but i needed to jump through hoops and was on hold for way too long since i have to use this time more productively. ie. work.

2403 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Total Failure at 27 Dec 2010 12:51:01 PM
I can't get proper reception in my home as well as surrounding 1 KM area. I live in a suburb which is very near to Melbourne CBD and still the coverage is so pathetic. I can still bear with it but the most annoying thing that happened to me last week was that I missed a call for a job interview that I had applied and when I called them back this week they said I am not in the list as they couldn't reach me and confirm my availability with me. Now this was the job I really wanted and due to horrible services by Vodafone I screwed it. Damn, I am really very angry and pissed off and still I can't change my service as I am tied with a contract with them.
27 Dec 2010 03:18:39 PM: Why don't you join the class action that was mentioned in the news today and get back compensation for losing a job because of it. And while you are at it, you should contact Vodafone customer service and get out of your contract at no charge since Vodafone has not provided the agreed service. This is your right under consumer law.
27 Dec 2010 07:33:40 PM: lol
27 Dec 2010 08:41:08 PM: and while you're at it, don't forget that it's Vodaphones fault that you're all bitter and twisted. They tricked you into signing that contract and now you're all pissed off and angry. They should be paying ALL your medical bills for the next several years since all your problems are most likely caused by STRESS, which is due to having a Vodaphone contract.

Wake up people. You bought a Vodaphone contract because it was cheaper. No one ever seems to wonder why cheap stuff is cheap until they've paid for it....
27 Dec 2010 10:06:59 PM: How can you get recompense for a job you may have not got in the first place?
28 Dec 2010 11:01:46 AM: that is why fixed landline is the best for back up never rely on wireless connection. dont fink local fink global .....n pls stop whinin like a baby n get a life ...
28 Dec 2010 05:27:21 PM: God there are some imbeciles here. I'm not talking about the OP either. He wasn't suggesting that Vodafone compensate him for a lost job. He is just bitter that he missed the opportunity to interview for the job. Secondly, just because Vodafone are cheaper than the opposition does not mean that sub standard service should be endured. Especially when they tout themselves as being the duck's nuts and offer unlimited data plans. If this is a network capacity issue as suggested by Vodafone themselves, then it is irresponsible to sign new cutomers to a data plan that promises all you can eat. The contract containes a service level agreement that Vodafone are not meeting. Of course there is cause for complaint as Vodafone customers are not receiving the service they were promised.
28 Dec 2010 05:49:41 PM: Rule # 1 You get what you pay for. All you Vodaphone users (losers?) signed up to Vodaphone because it was cheaper than Telstra and now you're all "boo hoo, the coverage and service isnt any good". Wake up. Your getting exactly the cheap unreliable service you paid for. All wanted to get an iphone NOW, but Tesltra was too expensive. Boo Hoo, enjoying the cheap cost now ???
28 Dec 2010 06:18:39 PM: telstra isnt much better, my daughter got a hiptop phone from telstra on a 24 month contract with free msn and free mms and free internet, the only thing she would be charge for was her calls. well, every month we get charge for the txt's the mms, the internet plus they chuck on an extra $200 or $600 to her bill which is only...$56 a mounth as she never use's it to make calls so i have to ring them every month to fix it and every month i get the same bullshit and im sorry we will credit your account now so dont talk to me about telstra they suck to. thank god we have only four months to go on that plan then its off to optus.
28 Dec 2010 06:39:53 PM: dont go to optus they are just as bad as vodafone
28 Dec 2010 06:48:41 PM: Vodafone, Telstra, Optus, 3 Mobile -they all have their faults! vodafone doesnt seem to be any worse than the others from from my experiences and what i've heard from friends and family.
28 Dec 2010 08:01:13 PM: seriously do you people have nothing better to do than winge on an internet site. Who the fuck would want to employ this joke of a man anyway. You people all act so tough and say that vodafone tricked you into signing contracts... you iddiots signed it so its your fault. and in my house i have no reception other than vodafone so its a diffrent situation with every phone company why cant you people understand that its not vodafones fault all these problems have explainations. If you are un happy with there service than fuck of to another carrier as you give the staff greif and abuse them - my friend is an emplyee and she has recieved death theats from dick head like you! it is her job and every time that you ring the call centre and abuse them just remember it is just their job and they are not soley responsible if you dont get reception! So Just remember guys GO GET A LIFE and LEAVE VODAFONE ALONE! if you can run a huge company without any problems then get to it!!
28 Dec 2010 09:40:01 PM: Got out of contract, ( Our business has been with vodafone since it started 12 years ago with assorted $BIG dollar business cap) after my 15 minutes with the TIO, its worth the call. Reception has gone pear shaped the last 3-4 months, Email uploads on iPhone don't happen at all, most txt's late, plus sat phone service is stuffed and vodapone have pulled out of globestar sat phone service,....... Globestar advise you to go onto the internet to find out when the sat is overhead so you can use the sat phone...... Your kidding me. The Phones a $2000 bit of junk now! The poor people @ tech support have no answer, at least they offered me a $500 credit but as I said I still want a the service not the money..... Sorry vodafone but my 12 phones are off to Telstra for GSM and Iridium for the sat Service. Remember people price is soon forgotten and quality(service) is long remembered.

Both my sister & I got new phones with Voda in Aug 2010. We both live in Ballart (postcode 3350) and was assured we had full coverage. What an outright lie that was. A 15 min phone call to each other requires 4 phone calls due to drop outs. I can't talk on my phone inside my house - no coverage. I can't talk/receive calls in my office - no coverage. I have never had more than 3 bars of signal strength. Most calls go direct to voicemail - but the message to advise I even have a message can take hours! I don't even bother using USB internet anymore - incredibly slow, and most times won't even connect. Both my sister and I have exactly the same problems. I've been a customer for 4 years now - its time to just give up thinking it will improve and move on.
28 Dec 2010 12:20:13 AM: I;m an Idependent ACN Representative,I understand how everyone are totally dissatisfied with the Vodaphone phone, internet and customer service qualities. To add to this debate, Im not defending VF or any of the other Telco's of Aus. But if we want better coverage... We must allow them to put up mobile transmitters. To often I read about people not wanting new mobile phone towers / transmitters in their area due to possible radiation exposure!!! If you want the coverage BUILD IT AND THE SIGNAL WILL COME.
28 Dec 2010 08:57:22 AM: ^^ This ^^

NIMBY's need to STFU. Higher up there is an example of an Emergency Services Worker being screwed over by lack of reception. Whilst I'm not one to wish ill on others if ill were to happen let it happen to a Nimby
29 Dec 2010 08:32:24 PM: It doesn't matter if VF can't put transmitters up. If they can't, fine: then they can't go and pretend they can offer great coverage to everyone who walks in a store.
29 Dec 2010 08:57:31 PM: Easy answer to that question- DON"T SELL PEOPLE THE PHONES IF U DONT HAVE THE TRANSMITTERS!!!its not rocket science

Just got on to vodafone roughly 3 months in. The promised great reception in rural areas, fast internet speeds etc. What I get is quite contrary. I have a phone with crap reception all the time, no coverage almost everywhere outside the city, slow internet speeds, vodafone customer service sucks completely. What else can I add to this? They said they give me 2gb's data but in reality they are just charging me money and discounting it from my total plan... I did not sign up for this.

2366 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is poor coverage at 27 Dec 2010 12:40:57 PM
the coverage just keeps getting worse, more so since they took over "3" I live within the inner suburbs of Melbourne, most calls I make, I can hear my own voice in the background, many drop-outs, and voice delays... all making my calling experience poor at best.
Their mobile broadband is no better, more like mobile dial up with slow speeds, thats when it gets coverage and wants to work , as this service also drops out multiple times while using.
Also trying to call customer support is just a joke... the longest I waited to speak to someone in India, was 54 minutes and if I get though within 30 minutes im very surprised.
They seem to like changing call rates without notification or warning, which is fine if its a old call rate, not one that has been just advertised .. ie $3 per 10 minutes to call New Zealand, then quickly changed back to $2.40 per minute.

Once my CONtract is up, im off to sign up with another provider... Ive been with vodafone for 11 years, both here in Australia and New Zealand, and the last 3 years on contract here... but clearly they dont care about their customers or the service they provide, and nor does most of the other networks, but at least the others have more reliable services.

Hi, I can't express to you how happy I am to find this website, finally I discovered that its not only me that i'm suffering with Vodafone !!!
I have 2 plans with vodafone, one for me and one for my wife, and i can't tell you how horrible is the reception, we always experience dropped calls and no reception, I have lost count how many times people call me and when they get through to me they say why is your phone ALWAYS OFF, mind you my wife and I never turn our phones off but its clearly the EXTREMELY POOR coverage from vodafone that is causing this! to be honest I don't want to sue Vodafone for money as much as i want them to fix their bloody stupid retarted network !!!
Optus is not better at all I was with optus for 2 years before vodafone and trust me guys they are the same crap! the only good network with the best coverage is Telstra, but they are an absolute RIP OFFs !!
So if the vodafone people are sneeking into this website and read the comments and they are reading mine now, I say, PLEASE do something to enhance your coverage and services.
Thanks for whoever created this website.

Was originally a Crazy Johns customer (Roams on Voda) until my contract came up for renewal. Voda offered the best deal on the iPhone 4 so I thought I would continue. Silly thing is, my house is terrible for voda coverage. The reception is poor at the front of the house, but usable. Walk two metres to the rear of the house, and there is no coverage at all. Whilst on a call, I have to stand perfectly still, or the call drops out. SMS can often take hours to send / recieve and dont even try PXT / MMS messages. I rang to complain and was just told that they were working to fix the problems and I should be patient. Plus, I was then politely told that as I was in a contract, there was very little IO could do anyways. Nice FAIL!

Great we now have a website to vent our anger at a company that reaps in hundereds of thousands of $$$$$$$$$$ in profits and ignore the most important part..THERE CUSTOMER BASE ! My first of many problems started when I paid $25 to have my mobile phone unlocked via there less than impressive website. After paying the $25 so I could use my phone in Thailand, once I arrived there I found I had NO COVERAGE because my phone WASNT unlocked !!! I AM STILL WAITING NEAR 12MTHS LATER FOR MY $25 BACK OR HAVE THE PHONE UNLOCKED !!! Also I have a Vodafone USB stick for my internet and the coverage is absolute terrible ( Frankston Area) with it dropping out and when it does work I have poor reception. I have called the call centre( useless bunch of non speaking and caring people) and been told that it is not my area but the tin roof I have on my house that is the major problem of my recetion complaint???? Vodafone need to get english speaking people who understand the word anger and empathy if you want to keep your customers coz this little black duck is about to find another internet company to deal with.
27 Dec 2010 12:52:56 PM: I think your problem is the fact that you live in Frankston

My phone was cut off without warning as Vodafone claimed that i had not paid my bill. Having been an honorable client for many years i was very upset about the situation. I was put on hold umpteen times without a response and bearing in mind i was having to call off someone else's phone, therefore incurring fees for them. Once i finally got through vodafone were claiming that they had tried to debit my credit card and it was rejected. I then called the bank and they claimed that my credit card had not even been attempted to debit. Vodafone has cost me time and money. As soon as my contract is up i vow to never waste my time with their company ever again.

Calls are pretty much impossible, all i am doing is running around in circles and out of buildings as soon as i get a call (if in fact i get the ring and not a straight voicemail eventually that i missed the call) to just try to be able to get through a phone call. And data? Don't even get me started, unuseable, utterly unuseable on all fronts, even text over internet (with minimum data requirements) only works half the time and unreliably. I am normally not a revengeful person, but if a class action lawsuit should start in Australia i would join too. I want my money back and a decent phone service. This is 2011 almost, not 1996. Have both a Vodafone mobile phone contract and a mobile broadband plan. The broadband is terrible, very slow and sometimes won't connect at all. I have been overcharged on my usage as well. Have rung the technical support and they are pretty useless and also hard to understand due to accents. Recently I was unable to make or receive calls from my mobile phone for over 1 week. Very frustrating as I do not have a landline at home and would have been in serious trouble if any emergency arose. Nothing was mentioned on the website when I tried to research this problem and upon visiting one Vodafone shop was told that it was my iPhone and it needed a system upgrade. After doing this and accidently wiping photos of my kids there was no improvement. I visited another store and was told that Vodafone were upgrading the towers and my phone should be back in service at 6pm that night. Four days later still unable to make and receive calls. I have been with Vodafone for approx 8 years and am regretting signing another contract.
28 Dec 2010 03:43:15 PM: dont dis the call centre. It is NOT their fault. VHA obviously moved call centres offshore due to cost cutting, and have not spent ANY $ on training, one of the most frustrating things is peeps dissing the call centre. VODA 3G towers are shite, not ready for 3 customers.

2292 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No Help at 27 Dec 2010 12:25:15 PM
I actually use AAPT who use the vodaphone network. Since I signed up with a mobile phone, I cannot send or receive photos. I have made countless calls to AAPT support who always say it will work within the next 24 hrs but doesn't. In many local places I have no service as it seems that vodaphone coverage in the country is terrible.
28 Dec 2010 05:12:28 PM: You need the settings sent to your phone firstly, then you need to send yourself a photo to activate it.. It doesn|'t take 24 hours to do. It takes about 3 minutes, not even.

2285 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is terrible coverage at 27 Dec 2010 12:24:20 PM
Vodafone coverage in Portsea, Victoria is appalling. I hold my phone alongside others with the same make of phone on the same update and find that they have reception using Optus and Telstra when I have none. Vodafone customer service is a joke. I reported my problem last week, having had no reception for days and was very clear in my description of the issue. The reply came (a shock) and suggested that the information provided by Vodafone had cleared up the problem. This was not the case at all. The information didn't answer my problem at all. When I tried to reply I couldn't as the system told me that the problem was sorted out. Laughable.

In built up area's in Melbourne including all of Chadstone Shopping Centre my mobile says "no coverage". It's not like I'm in the middle of no where and I NEVER had any problems when I was with Teltra. It's pretty scary walking around with health issues knowing I can't contact family or friends or more inportantly emergancy services. I told you it wasn't my sim card Vodaphone!!!!!!!!!

2270 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is triplicate smses sent constantly and I'm being charged when I only sent one! at 27 Dec 2010 12:22:04 PM
For the last 3 months, on a very regular basis..vodafone sends my smses 3 or 4 times. I am then charged for this triplicate/quadruple send. I have rang vodafone, been put on hold for hours...been into a few stores. The best they can do is give me credit for the éxtra'smses sent. People now hate receiving my smses and I'm reluctant to use the sms service incase its still occurring. The problem was meant to have been fixed a month ago...but still happening. Vodafone staff are blaming the 3 merger. 3 are blaming the Vodafone merger. Get your act together Vodafone!

2256 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is shocking reception in Doreen-Vic at 27 Dec 2010 12:18:11 PM
Just moved over to the Vodafail network in December 25th 2010,a great Christmas present.
Reception is totally horrible to the extreme in the Doreen area of Melbourne.
I would not recommend this service to anyone.
A complete useless network that want your money but won't give you what you paid for.
27 Dec 2010 01:07:01 PM: Agreed. Live in Doreen and can't keep a call longer than 6 minutes without it dropping out. Waiting for end of contract to depart!
27 Dec 2010 01:12:15 PM: ill agree calls always dropping out, no reception, sometimes roams to telstra other times it wont. come july hello telstra!
27 Dec 2010 01:19:48 PM: I'm in South Morang and definately agree with you
27 Dec 2010 01:38:56 PM: NEVER ANY RECEPTION!

2245 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No coverage at work at 27 Dec 2010 12:13:46 PM
Crazy John's employee went on the Vodafone homepage to check the coverage at Port Melbourne where I work; Everything seemed OK and I signed off the contract because we checked my home address as well. While the phone has sufficient coverage in Elwood (3G still very slow though), I have no coverage at work. I called Vodafone 5 times (have all recordings and names) and had endless email conversations with the service team that finally agreed to investigate the problems. RESULT: Vodafone admitted that there is a problem despite the false information on their homepage. Called the Vodafone internee to find out that Vodafone only needs to provide coverage for the address on the contract. DOUBLE FAIL

been with vodafone for a few years and not had huge problems until recently upgraded to an account with data to use on iphone, very often all service drops out completely, including regular phone service, it sometimes returns with a rebooting of phone but not always. often just has nothing for hours! also very often delays of messages reaching the other person, mms have taken up to a FULL DAY to reach them. i've been too lazy to change but not for much longer...

Other then the usual calls dropping out as well as poor 3G internet. I recently had a Dishonour fee ($15) for non payment. Even though it is direct debit and I am 100% sure I had enough money in the account. Has this happened to anyone else?

2233 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is awful at 27 Dec 2010 12:11:58 PM
Apart from the dropouts in suburban Melbourne, there are the text messages that take up to 24hrs or more to reach the recipient. THis was particularly problematic when relaitves were in palliative acre earlier this year. My contract runs out in two months, but I can't wait that long and am going to Telstra beforehand. Had enough!

2232 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Bad to worse at 27 Dec 2010 12:11:33 PM
Recently my phone started sending out multiple copies of texts. My friends were receiving up to 10 copies of the same text. I was unsure if I was being charged for these texts, so I tried sending a request to my account balance. This was hopelessly inaccurate as I was never sure when the extra texts were sent.

So I decided to call Vodafone.

I could not get hold of anyone.

So I decided to see exactly how long it would take before the system cut me off, or alternatively, if I got to hear from a human.

I placed my phone on the charger, rang the number, put it on speaker so I didn't have to hold it up to my ear. This I did at around 10am. Over 24 hours - TWENTY FOUR BLOODY HOURS - I was still on hold. Every 15min or so arecorded message came through to let me know I was in a cue and my call "was important."

In the end I gave up. I had been on hold ALL DAY, and ALL THROUGH THE NIGHT, into lunch time the next day. Before I actually hung up.

Prior to this I had called every number possible related to Vodafone, and managed to speak to one person in the "business" dept who referred me back to the numbers I had called.

A week after this experience I received a call from a vodafone telemarketer - in the middle of work - asking me if I wanted to sign up for extra specials etc etc.
I took this opportunity to tell him of my experiences and relate my grief and concern that I was being charged for texts I never sent.
He said he'd get back to me after speaking to his supervisor.

3 months later, I'm still waiting.

In a little while I will buy a new phone, and I will NEVER go back to vodafail.
I'm utterly disgusted with their dodgy practices.

Oh, and reception? Only in the inner metro north of Melbourne. Everywhere else is one to 0 bars. I have noticed nobody else has this poor range with their providers.

2217 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is poor coverage at 27 Dec 2010 12:08:23 PM
My wife and I are both on Vodafone. She has been complaining of poor coverage where she works and even when she goes to other suburbs. She simply can't make or receive calls in these areas. These are long & well established suburbs in Melbourne. I use teh internet on my phone quite a bit, and sometimes it simply doesnt work, other time in exactly the same location (at home) it works fine. Just don't know what is going on with their poor coverage.

I am with Three network, I believe they both are merged anyway. Just moved to Caulfield and was surprised to find the network is absolutely crap in area. Tried calling Customer care to find out if there is any problem with my Handset and they've told me that my house in a blackout spot and the network is not not so great and they cant really do anything. Network continuously keep dropping, No 3G Coverage.

Ok.. I just asked what I am I supposed to do if there is no network at my place, they're like What do you want us to do...

2212 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Average at 27 Dec 2010 12:07:36 PM
I've had one tel, telstra, and (in the UK) vodafone services. I've been now with vodafone here in Melbourne for a fair few years. (5 at a guess). They're okaaay. Certainly not perfect. My gripes are that quite often my phone (iPhone 4 bought online via vodafone) won't place a call after dialing my partners number. (she's with vodafone also). It's pretty frustrating. It happens enough to be annoying. My other issues are some missed calls going to voicemail when I'm clearly not on a call and the phone is on but has not rung. I also get dropouts on calls (I would estimate on approx 5%) I'm not sure whether my phone is the fault or the carrier but the drop outs are when I've got full bars or close to, and it's with different people on landlines or mobile phones) I've had a call drop out while on phone to vodafone. I've never really complained to vodafone as it's just annoying but not unbearable. Jack in Brunswick vic

I am a Crazy Johns customer and they use Vodafone. Can barely ever get reception in my house, I live in the suburbs, not in the sticks or anything.. My little sister went into hospital, but my family couldn't contact me as i had no reception- so i didn't find out til the next day. Cutomer care dont give a rats, telling me they would give me $10 credit on my account. Ridiculous considering the amount of times calls have dropped out, unreceived messages etc.

I am happy with what I get get from Voda. I have been with Voda for the past 8 years. As a customer we wanted good service and we do not want to hear excuses such as software upgrandes on RNCs (RU20) is causing troubles....I do not know aht kind of test bed testing is carried out before rolling out any network changes...However I want to see 3 operators in the market to keep competition.

My initial reason for signing with Vodafone was they included overseas SMS in the post-paid plan. Since I have a friend there that I had been texting regularly I thought this was great. After signing I send a text to my friend. No response. Further texts still received no response. Chatting online a few days later and asked if any texts had been received. Nothing. Calls to Vodafone eventually reveal that they only forward texts to two select carriers in Canada. Seems Bell aren't worthy of such a service. Of course none of this was mentioned during the sales discussion where I specifically said where my friend lived.

Have been unable to use my phone in my home..try going outside but no improvement..( I live in suburbia )this has been occurring for around 7 months now.I've been a Vodafone customer for quite some time but am now seriously considering using another Telco when my contract expires as am paying for a service that isn't being delivered :((
27 Dec 2010 12:02:14 PM: Contact them and advise them of the lack of coverage. It took me 2 months but I was abe to terminate my contract ad port my number. It is a tedious process and you need to be patient.
They will ask you to do several things to investigate the problem but in the end if the coverage is a problem it is grounds to get out of your contract.

I had always been a Telstra client, but changed to Vodaphone as my friend in Perth is on the network. She has just moved to Karratha and now every 5 minutes the call drops off and I have to ring her? What the hell is that all about? Again after years of trouble free broadband with Telstra, I changed to a mobile broadband usb. Since I started 12 months ago, the service has just got worse and worse. I am lucky if the service doesn't drop out every 30 minutes and the download speed is at tortoise level. I doubtI will complete my 24 months contract as I will be in an insane asylum before then! Thanks vodafail for nothing

2177 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is a rip-off at 27 Dec 2010 11:58:50 AM
I'm in Bendigo and my phone calls always have bad reception and often drop out. When I go to see my family in St.Arnaud I have no reception at all, this means that I just have to hope that the trip goes smoothly as I have no way of contacting anyone should I need to. I have missed phone calls from my workplace as a result of the reception issue which has meant I have missed the opportunity to work and gain further income. When I initially asked about vodaphones reception the question was avoided and I was given a spiel about the governement giving them some money to increase their coverage....I haven't noticed that that has happened in the last 18 months!!!
