26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

9069 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Failing successfully? at 30 Dec 2010 12:31:06 PM
I just finished writing some very well cosidered, constructive feedback. Then I hit te "Share your pain" button to submit it and of course my internet connction dropped out and the text was lost.

My level headed and constructive approach has quickly turned to cynicism and frustration as I experience the failing of the Vodafone service ...for the first time today and I have been logged on for a full half hour!

I don't have the time Vodafone...step up and allow us a voice! If your CEO needs a root cuse analysis, give me a call! It's not hard...increae infrastructure and soft-skill your frontline staff.

Love the Vodafail head man. Goes on tele and sobs his little sob story about how they're trying to fix it. BUT HE'S STILL TAKING OUR MONEY AND GIVING US NOTHING. We should stop paying V and see how they like that?

9038 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is big fat fail at 30 Dec 2010 11:49:15 AM
i live in the yarra valley and recently signed up with vodafone, also signed my daughter up. vodafone should inform people when signing up that reception is more than likely going to be poor in your area and should probably suggest to try another service provider. i know they wouldn't make any money by doing this but look at the trouble they are now in. seriously not happy

9035 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is UNFARKINGBELIEVABLE at 30 Dec 2010 11:27:01 AM
Although they have their call centres in asian countries for cheap labor, the wait time to talk to them is more then 30 freaking minutes.
i finish my contract with them in 4 months,
But i really think the Australian Government should see this website and have an idea what the customers are going through and Vodafone should compensate all the people who are in trouble.
-No network
-No network even in Roaming
-slow internet
-long waiting time to speak with a customer service representative
-Voicemail unavailable/delays
-voice breaks

30 Dec 2010 11:31:09 AM: so true the government should have seen this website!!
30 Dec 2010 11:50:13 AM: They definitely should, maybe when they get back from holidays!
30 Dec 2010 07:47:03 PM: They dont care, they have tax payer funded Telstra phones, remember the big bills they rack up, cast your memory back.... Just change to telstra, and ditch Vodafail.....
9 Jan 2011 10:06:36 PM: The Fed Govt does have a fall back for you: Contact the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman - they can actually order compensation be paid if you can prove your complaint. Good luck with it!
10 Jan 2011 04:37:02 PM: No..o.o.
The TIO is industry funded. ie "self-regulation" aka "fox protecting the henhouse"
aka- Government "too hard basket" aka government not fulfilling it's responsibilities

9023 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is COVERAGE FAIL at 30 Dec 2010 11:03:18 AM
Before we signed up they showed us their coverage maps which indicated they had coverage over most of regional Victoria, so we signed up.
But soon after leaving Ballarat heading north/west reception is almost totally lost with only emergency calls available.
Also vety limited reception in Hamilton & Horsham townships!
We will be reverting to Telstra as soon as our contracts expire.

9017 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Drop outs/ Loss of phone at 30 Dec 2010 10:52:49 AM
My phone calls constanly drop out after being on hold with Vodaphone for over 2.5 hours finally when I got to speak to someone the actually ended the call.... you can imagine my frustration.....

Before hand in Aug 10 - I purchased an new Iphone 4 after thinking that I had a flaulty phone I took it back to Vodaphone they advised me that it will only take a week to repair !!! This was in OCT 10 I have still not received my phone and the worst part was that I was still paying for the plan... I had to argue with Vodaphone to get my plan termindated......As Voadaphone has lost my phone!!!!!

When I finally was able to get through to someone at Vodaphone I told them I would like to terminate my contract... Well that was not that easy...!!!!

9013 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is as big a fail as the Titanic. at 30 Dec 2010 10:49:25 AM
I signed up three months ago, as my boyfriend also has a VodaFail account and we could get free calls to each other.

I constantly can't be connected, I'm out of service, it doesn't register calls, this morning I tried to send a MMS only to get a "generic network failure" message and now it's stuck on that and beeps at me every minute to tell me that my message has failed (obvious, much?). It's also hit and miss if I can get it to connect to the internet. I've pretty much given up on that part of the service.

The balance check system is a fail. I checked it a day before the end of my billing cycle, had $19 worth of cap left. Didn't make a call, three days later when the cycle comes through I have overspent $44 on my cap. To add insult to injury, to find out WHAT the extra charges were the result of no less than 15 attempts to call customer service, to finally reach an actual human being (I know, I was shocked too) who told me there was noting they could do than wait for the bill to arrive and then call back if I wished to dispute the charges.

And to address the person who believes that the calls drops, no service, delayed messaging, missed calls, I use a HTC Ledgend, my boyfriend a Nokia N97 (or maybe a N96) and we have the same issues.

9008 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is service/reception at 30 Dec 2010 10:46:01 AM
I had signed a vodafone contract at a retail store, at the point of sales the sales clerk did a search in my area and said it had coverage and the sale could go ahead. This phone contract was signed in mid 2009. After recieving the phone and taking it home all that appeared on my phone was either "no service" or "searching". i had called vodafone on numerous occasions and i was always transfered to india to speak with a customer service representative. When i had requested to speak to a australian they refused and said all i could speak with is the customer care team in india. the matter was left unresolved in 2010 i had called again and repeatedly asked for a australian based in australia i did speak to the suprivisor, they had promised on 2 occassions to send out a representative from vodafone to test my area for service as i had numerous complaints to the company. i was paying for a service i only recieved in the cbd or neighbouring suburbs. my area had been declared a black spot by most phone providers other then telstra so i knew my area had poor coverage but vodafone continuely kept saying my area was fine. it wasnt until mid 2010 i had enough and threatened to leave the company and they still did not conduct tests on my suburb for reception that they offered a $24 discount on my bill. I refuse to pay my bills as they have promised since august of 2009 they will fix the problem and they havent no one has been in contact with me like they promised to let me know of any updates i have 5 members in my family who are vodafone who live under the same roof who experience the same problem. i want the contract resindered with no cost to me because vodafone has not fulfilled their part of the contract.

I hardly have any network coverage. You can't speak to a real person when you ring their help line. I was docked 2 days work because I didn't receive a txt until 5 days after it was sent. I have a nokia slide and was asured that i would have no problems with vodafone, i think i will go back to optus.

9002 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is I HATE YOU at 30 Dec 2010 10:39:50 AM
I have been with vodafone for years, and never really had to much of a problem until the past year... I recently just started a new contract to get an iphone 4, the reason I did this was because I THOUGHT my old iphone was having troubles, not getting text messages till 3 hours or more after they are sent, text messages not sending although I have what appears to be full reception, phone calls dropping out so I cannot hear anything the person is saying yet they can hear me... So me being stupid and thinking that it was my phone that had the problem I decided to get a new phone and start a 2 year contract all over again, now look whos been sucked in, my new phone is having all the same problems! Thanks a lot vodafone you now get to rip me off for yet another 2 years. This has gone beyone frustrating me today as it was because of this that my boyfriend was unable to contact me with an emergency, his calls and texts would not go through, thanks to vodafone I got them 4 hours later.. Still waiting for the missed calls to even show up.
30 Dec 2010 10:42:31 AM: iPhone mate, there's your problem
30 Dec 2010 10:43:34 AM: Funny there are just as many posts complaining about Sony's, HTC's, and Blackberrys. The problem is Vodafone, end of story :)

I have been on 3 since 2006 and have ONLY started having issues in the past year, and only since vodaphone have taken over has the problem worsened. I have an iPhone. I have to stand out on my street to have a decent phone call without the person breaking up or cutting out. my phone permanently says searching or no service inside. there is hardly ever 3G reception in my area, the eastern suburbs especially in my area have many areas that seem to be lacking reception and with a split up family I always seem to be in these non covered areas. I am paying ridiculous dollars for nothing!! I am sick and tired of struggling to use my phone!! but the massive thing that gets to me is. the thousands of dollars they want me to pay to get out of my contract!!! YOUR ALREADY SCABBING MY MONEY!!!!

8990 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Shocking customer service at 30 Dec 2010 10:09:42 AM
I wait on hold on the phone for more than 30 minutes each time I try to call Vodafone with a problem. They don't seem to care at all about customer service, the service they do provide is shocking anyway. My partner and I started with Vodafone a little over a year ago becuase they had a free 'Vodafone to Vodafone' offer which we took up so we could contact eachother for free. Within months Vodafone started charging us for all the calls and text messages to eachother. Their invoicing system is a mess, randomly charging me $800+ with no reason at all!!! I refused to pay so now they have shut my phone down and I can't use it. Thanks a lot Vodafone.

8989 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is shite at 30 Dec 2010 10:08:30 AM
In my area Vodafone jumps from no service to searching to vodafone mobile covereage to vodafone 3G. It sucks my battery life dramatically and quite frankly gives me the shits.

When i have full reception on 3G my internet usage is slow if it works at all, but get this, when i have 1 bar of reception on 3G the internet on my phone is still slow but works continuously ! i don't get it !

Ok and finally i drop out of calls constantly even when i have full reception ! I receive messages sometimes 3-4 days later and mms' sometimes takes 2-3 hours of continuous trying to send them through.

One query i do have is, do all these people use iphones ?
30 Dec 2010 10:11:21 AM: Not from what I can tell. It is generally smart phones but from any manufacturer. Alot of people have mentioned blackberry's and Nokias as well as iPhones.

Personally my work iPhone on the NextG network is faultless, my personal Nokia on the Vodafone network is useless :(

8978 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Seriously appalling at 30 Dec 2010 09:44:56 AM
I had my mobile stolen. So need to activate a new pre paid sim card. This took me three weeks of approx 15 calls and waiting up to 56mins on hold with no answer. I then attempted contact by email which I was called back after two days. Then I was given misinformation about what sim I needed to obtain. Apparently I needed to get a sim from the vodafone store not any prepaid sim from the supermarket. Why would you go to the vodafone store, then go home to call Vodoafone to activate? I managed to get a sim at the Vodoafone store from a very uninterested customer rep who said he could not activate the sim as the system was down. So I had to go home and try and call vodafone again at a later time. Eventually after several more attempts to get through with no luck. I emailed again. I was eventually called back 2 days later. I requested the last three weeks of my prepaid credit be extended which they said they will do. But never happened. I then put forward a complaint in writing/email outlining all the issues including a print out of all the calls I made and how long I waited with no answer. The response completely ignored all the issues and basically just said they were very busy. Very poor show from a major international communications company. I will be switching provider as soon as possible.

I have been into see Vodafone about the poor reception to see if there is anything that they can do and the answer is... "you can only pay out your contract!!" Suprise Suprise!
We are living in Launching Place and asked before we moved if the coverage was good here and they said YES!! Not so true! I have now had to get the landline phone capped so we can call mobiles from it!! More money!!
I am over all the drop outs and lack of help by Vodafone and once the contract does run out believe me I WILL NOT be resigning with them!!

I am sick of my phone always dropping out of range. It is quite often that I am in the middle of the city and my phone says no service.
The 3G of it is awful as well - every time that I try to use it, it will be down. Mobile phones are supposed to be reliable, mine is so far away from that.
Leaving home with or without my phone would almost make no difference as it almost never works when I need it.
I have called customer service a few times and after being on hold for over an hour I got hanged up on - UNACCEPTABLE!!
I have six months left in my contract and then I am definitely getting the hell out of this company... And to any new potential customers - do not do it!! Signing a contract with these people will be something that you will regret for months to come.
30 Dec 2010 09:45:27 AM: COming from someone who is tempted by the 45 $ unlimted plan. The reception surely cant be THAT bad in central melbourne can it? ANd should improve after Christmas/ new year period?

my trouble with vodaphone is that text - both pictures and messages - don't come through sometimes for 24 or 48 hours. and my phone generally seems to be very slow. another issue is that i text 'customer service' for my account balance. when they reply with the amount, it is never correct. in the past i have believed them when they say i've got $77 remaining only to be billed way over my cap because i used up the $77 plus whatever amount they didn't mention

Consistently poor reception in central Melbourne CBD. It's almost impossible to browse webpages without them hanging and needing to reload. Voicemail messages take anywhere from 2-7 days to be delivered. Honestly, what is the point of having a 3G phone with such poor and unreliable service. Once upon a time I was with vodaphone, and I had the same problems as everyone else. Message would be lost, or come hours or days later. Luckily I wasn't locked into any contract, but i feel sorry for those of you who are. Hopefully someone cracks a whip hard enough for vodaphone to hear. Im glad this website is getting things done. Well done to the creator.

I have now been with Virgin Mobile for about 2/3 years and am very happy with the service. The coverage is pretty good and my messages always get to thier destination. The call centre staff have been very good when I have contacted them.

8868 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is ITIL perspective at 30 Dec 2010 06:47:36 AM
At times my 3G mobile internet connection is slow or just non existent! A few key words for Vodafone to take into consideration.

Demand Management - How are you controlling usage on your network to improve speed? (eg free access to social networking websites is bound to increase traffic and presumable slow down requests to other sites)
Fit for Use - Despite 3G internet access being widely available in the metro areas, is it the service acceptable for the average user? (ie too slow?)
Incident Management - The best way to tame the savage customer is through information. With the ability to immediately access all of your customers (eg through an SMS or something) why isnt this being done? Why dont people answer phones quickly enough in the call centres?

Just my thoughts.

Swapped sims, phone and scheduled to get coverage scan (which never happened). Nothing changed , they will not admit there is anything wrong. I have had a lot of issues with Vodafone, first of which when I ordered 2 USB Internet devices and was sent 1, but billed 4 times. After hours of hold, calling them back, and being promised twice to be called back (but was not), that was my first issue.

Second, I have just moved to Caroline springs and have noticed little to no coverage where I live (a metro area)... I have also been locked out of my account, even when it asked for my drivers license, I still have nothing. Then I get a $110 phone bill because I couldn't keep track of my usage. I tried to call and got a 'we are very busy call back later' message and nobody has replied to my 3 emails, first of which was sent in November.

I am asking them to be released from my contract so that I can go elsewhere. Not good enough
30 Dec 2010 07:37:26 AM: Don't ask to be released - Demand!!
30 Dec 2010 05:58:20 PM: Yeah, I have sent a quite a few emails now, one this morning with this message above demanding a response today otherwise I will contact the OB but have got nothing.

I have had it all. Call drop outs, three way conversations, reception fail, calling a particular person and the call is then connected to an unknown person, delayed standerd text and extreamly delayed picture messaging by at least four hours.

I also have 2 iPhone 4 on contract and they constantly drop out , have no service , can't sent mms or go straight to voice mail after multiple calls and complaints I have got no where it's the ombudsman for me... I work in telecommunications and just want out of all my contracts so I can switch to telstra at least I will get service and receive important calls!!

8839 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pre Paid Internet Coverage & Network Phone Service at 30 Dec 2010 04:32:23 AM
We have pre paid internet provision with Vodafone (for approx 12 months), the service is terrible, the signal is always weak. You can hardly ever get a signal? The service is appalling as it keeps booting you off.

We also both have pre paid mobiles with Vodafone (personal and business), the network coverage is disgraceful, calls continually dropping out, txt messages not going through. Or even worse txt messages going through hours later or multiple times.

8831 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is MASSIVE at 30 Dec 2010 02:48:10 AM
Just like everyone else I get the regular call drop-outs, distorted/chopped up calls and late SMSs. Damn annoying.
But what has COMPLETELY undermined my confidence in Vodafail in the last few months is the BILLING BUGS on MyVodafone.com.au. If Vodafail cant correctly calculate my simple mobile bill, how the hell can I trust them. Its not rocket science!
- "Recent Bills" page and the "Account Summary" often display different amounts owing. Sometimes I get a different amount again when I click "Pay My Bill".
- The Account Summary tells me I owe money for a bill that hasnt been produced yet (its not available online and calls for that period still appear as "Unbilled" category in "Usage Details")
- Vodafail seem to have changed my billing period without notification, and call details downloaded from the "Usage Details" tab no longer align with the billing period. Downloading call details is important for business/tax claims, so this is damn annoying.
- Vodafail wouldnt accept my credit card on the month of its expiry date. Cards expired at the END of the expiry month imbeciles. Of course I just didnt pay the bill.
- MyVodafail website is useless. Slow and bug ridden at best, unusable normally. Once I complained and the girls response was "set up a direct debit rather than paying online". As if I would give those idiots access to my bank account.
30 Dec 2010 02:59:52 AM: BTW..forgot to add. Seems like MyVodafail works better in IE than Firefox. Just an observation not a scientifically rigourous analysis!

8824 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Complete at 30 Dec 2010 12:20:53 AM
Almost ZERO coverage or reception anywhere i travel in Victoria, from Lilydale to Rye. I'm actually with Crazy Johns (Who use Vodafone's network for coverage) and when i signed up for 24 months!, i only did so on the basis that they assured me countless times i would have full coverage in both areas i travel and live in. This however has not been the case from day one! my friends say when they try to call me my phone always says it has no coverage or is turned off, I receive messages days after they have been originally sent (if im lucky!). Also being a student with very little expendable money i went through Crazy Johns (Vodafone) because they gave me a USB modem or Dongle, whatever you want to call it.. that i thought would be great and help me out with Uni work, but it has been COMPLETELY USELESS! i might as well throw it in the bin, id does not work at all, has a maximum speed of 7kb per second! (not even enough to load Google!) when they promised me BROADBAND SPEEDS! I feel completely ripped off and if i could break the contract i would immediately. Vodafone=F*kd! I want compensation.

8815 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very poor reception at 29 Dec 2010 11:23:37 PM
I have very poor reception on my iPhone. Even in the CBD or other open areas. Also I can't make calls (calls fail), Also very slow web page downloads. Hey Voda, you should invest in your infrastucture.
This is the first and last time with Vodaphone. I'm going back to Telstra.
30 Dec 2010 02:32:20 AM: Screw Telstra. I'd rather have my calls drop than go to them. They charge exorbitant amounts and give very little - I agree they're probs one of the most realiable telco's in the market at the moment but also the most expensive for what they 'offer'.
30 Dec 2010 07:56:57 AM: Have you been under a rock for the last year or something. Go check out their prices. And at least shit loads.
30 Dec 2010 07:58:45 AM: What's with everyone and their lack of proficiency in spelling.
vodaFONE not vodaPHONE.

Invest in infrastructure...?

Perhaps you should invest in Enlgish Classes.

realy not happy, hopefully i can use the last of my credit befor it expiers, with this poor internet conection, i cant see that happening.

8794 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Look at your phone at 29 Dec 2010 10:15:50 PM
Those with dropouts, should think about their phone as well as provider. Some phones are designed for city use, with a not so good antenna, ok for about 1 km. Other phones are designed for rural, and other made for regional. look at your phone and find out if its made for the area you're in. My 6720 was great within 4 km of a tower but the N95 was crap. The N95 was great with the tower only 1 km away. Vodafone's tower is 1 km away, Optus and Teltra are 3.8 km away and have crap reception here.
30 Dec 2010 08:50:39 AM: clearly its not just the phone causing the problem! There are to many complaints for it to be the phones. Vodafone has had this issue for years, lately it has just gotten worse!!!!

8791 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is MASSIVE FAIL at 29 Dec 2010 10:12:05 PM
I'm currently with 3 and at the time of this post, have just received several messages and missed call messages dating back from Christmas day to 28/12/10. What the hell?! My phone had been on this whole time but obviously, it's due to terrible reception that I've been receiving. I thought since the merger between Vodafone and 3 would result in much better reception across Metro Melbourne but even with that, my phone can't pick anything up. Ridiculous!

8790 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is not at all at 29 Dec 2010 10:10:54 PM
When is someone going to setup a Telstrafail or Optus fail website? The amount of complaints would far outdo Vodafone. Optus billing problems, Telstra reception problems, you are all nuts, everywhere I go with my vodafone I have service where Telstra and Optus don't. At home, I put the Telstra sim into my vodafone mobile and get no reception at all, in the telstra phone I get 1 bar, sometimes 2 if I go out front. All 3 companies show Broadford as having full coverage, but only Vodafone comes through with flying colors for me, well done Vodafone! Thank you.
29 Dec 2010 10:17:39 PM: Sorry mate, but the NextG network has the best performance and coverage in Australia. I have used Voda, 3, Optus and the NextG network and afraid to say Voda/3 are the worst of the lot. I will NEVER change back to them again.

I have all the reception/text messaging/voicemail/data problems that everyone else is reporting.

My biggest Vodafone FAIL is by far that when I ring they are always "experiencing higher than normal call volume" so I enter my number for a call back in 30 minutes, wait an hour and a half, get a call from the automated call back service, it connects me to a real person, my call drops out. I start the whole process over again!

Agghhhh. I swore I would never go back to Telstra but I am seriously considering it. Get your act together Vodafone.

8783 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is I just want to call and text at 29 Dec 2010 09:46:12 PM
I don't ask much of Vodafone, I just want to reliably be able to take and make calls and receive and send text messages...

When people try to call me they often get 'unable to connect' error tones and messages OR the phone rings at their end but my handset never rings and the voicemail they leave doesn't arrive for hours. I have replicated this with my home phone in one hand ringing my mobile in the other which sits there silent while my home phone is dialling away. Grrrr.

The network seems to frequently "forget" that my handset is attached to it for hours on end, eventually I will get a bunch of text messages when it remembers me that are time stamped the time they were sent in the past few hours but didn't arrive until much later.

The network refuses to send my text messages, sometimes turning my handset on and off again resolves this but sometimes it doesn't especially if there are multiple messages in my outbox waiting to be sent.

My housemate has the opposite problems, he sends me a text message and the same message arrives on my phone anywhere from 3 to 6 times despite him only having sent it once.

I really want the new HTC Desire HD which is exclusive to Vodafone but I am not willing to sign up to Vodafone again to get it. Massive fail Vodafone.
29 Dec 2010 10:10:03 PM: Yea I know how you feel, hope the phone is released with other carriers.
30 Dec 2010 12:35:20 AM: You are better off doing what I am planning on in the new year to escape Vodafail's crapness. Sign up with Optus or Telstra (other carriers), get the best phone for the package you want (samsung galaxy s or other similarly valued phones). Then I plan to sell the phone on Ebay and buy the HTC Desire HD outright from Ebay or MobiCity if I want the warranty.

I want this phone too but I read that the HTC Desire HD is forever exclusive to Voda and they paid $57mill for the pleasure - our displeasure.

I am sick of Vodafone dropping out all the freaking time. Have to stand in weird positions to get reception and cannot justify having an awesome phone if the service doesn't allow you to appreciate it. NOT WORTH IT!!
30 Dec 2010 02:50:50 AM: You realise that you're paying off that handset and selling it would be illegal?

1. I have 2 Phones. A work phone on another carrier (NextGen) and a personal phone on Vodafone. I have found many times that the Vodafone has no or little coverage inside buildings and shopping centres compared to 100% coverage with the work phone. I have even had "No coverage" while standing outside a Vodafone shop!

2. I have set up Vodafone to email me the bills.
On many occasions the bill never arrives, and then the next month I get an "Overdue" notice.

When I'm in central melbourne, I can only get 1 bar on most days and this is the same across inner city areas in Victoria. I receive mms messages hours later and sometimes the next day. I can't retrieve my voicemail messages. I get 1 bar coverage at my parents place out in the suburbs, and in the country with my friends I get no coverage. 8727 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Absolute crying failure at 29 Dec 2010 07:45:03 PM

I live close to a VF base station in an inner suburb of Melbourne and
95% of the time it's on 2G.
I am ringing the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman at 9am tomorrow morning, and also the Australian Competition and Consumer Authority.
I am a pensioner and can't afford to waste all this money.
How VF could let themselves sink this low is an international disgrace.
I'm surprised that the UK management havn't removed the Australian management yet.
An unmitigated absolute disgrace, and it's an insult from them to say they're working on it.
They're still advertising for new customers and still moving 3's traffic onto their network, so they have no conscious or brains.

8711 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Mulitple Issues on $49 plan at 29 Dec 2010 07:22:54 PM
My vodafone contract was an absolute debacle. The phone kept breaking down (not their fault I guess), I had insurance on the phone so after about the 6th breakdown, i thought I would claim on the insurance to get a new phone. So I call to get the details, and was told that the excess on my insurance was going to cost me more than the cost to me to walk into a Vodafone shop and buy the phone outright that they were offering. I told them that it made no sense, to no avail, bad luck they say.

So after this, I realise it isn't worth paying the insurance ($10) per month. So I call the ever helpful Lara to say take off the insurance charge please. They say "no problem, done". The next couple of months my $49 plan starting charging me excess, so my bills started coming through @ $350 per month. I call Vodafone to say this is not right, I want my money back. They say no. I argue, and ask to be transferred to a manager, this billing is not correct. I finally am assured a refund as they say they accidently took off my data plan instead of my insurance. So with no data plan, my bills sky rocket. They say they will pay me back in installments, I say no, this is your fault, pay the money back. After 2.5 hours on the phone, they agree to repay me. Weeks pass, and no money comes back. I call again to ask where is my refund. The response "Finance has said no, your bank details are not correct". But wait, the bank details are the same as the ones you charge me every month for my plan. What is going on? "The refund has been rejected" they say. Why is that? So 2.5 hours later, I am explaining the problem over and over. They say again there will be no refund. But you said weeks ago they will be a refund. Arghhhhhhh !

So I go to a retail outlet. They look at the problem, and say they will contact head office on my behalf to rectify the problem. I was so happy finally for some customer service. The outlet calls a couple of days later, saying, no, they can't help. I must call Lara. I nearly cry.

I call Lara again and go through the process of being on the phone 2.5 hours. I talk explain from the start the issue, what the problem is. Then I talk to the manager and finally they agree to repay this over charging back. They offer to pay in installments, I say NOOOOOOOOOO, this is your mistake, pay me back the money please !!!!! And finally 2 months later, the over charging is repaid.

Next step, to get the insurance charge that they kept charging back. I call Lara, and get..... Vodafone Egypt, assisting Vodafone Australia. I explain the problem, and they say, OK, we understand, we will investigate and call you back............

AND I'M STILL WAITING......... MONTHS LATER. I can't go through the hardship of calling them again...............
29 Dec 2010 07:42:17 PM: Wow! How are you not in jail for murder? I feel for you!

I signed up with Vodafone over the phone about a month ago. My phone arrived in the mail on time, along with me new SIM.

I could not use the SIM as it was not activated!

I tried calling the activation number using a landline and got unresponsive machine talking back to me, giving me no option to activate and taking me around in circles for hours. I spend that ENTIRE day and the next couple of days trying to activate, spending sessions of 30 minutes on the phone about 6 times per day, getting nowhere.

I live in rural Australia so going to a store was no option for me.

After the 3rd day I finally activated but wasted countless hours on the landline to get it done and to the right department and past the stupid robot operator.

My partner would monitor the site daily to check on our usage, and we were of the understanding that we were under our usage cap, when we received a bill that was charging us for well over the cap amount. After unsuccessfully trying to call Vodafone to discuss the matter as we were certain we were being cheated we went into the Vodafone store in Adelaide mall and were told that they were not Vodafone. I explained that the shopfront had a huge Vodafone sign at the entrance and that I was certain it was a Vodafone store, but was told it wasnt. I then wrote to the Manager of the store and as yet have not received a reply. We paid our bill and have never used Vodafone since.

Every places I go have different quality. At work (Camberwell, Box Hill, Doncaster) phone shows 3G/H signs but when I tried to load my email or even google, they will never load. Seriously?! At home, I can do experiment where phone shows full bar of reception quality, when I call my phone with my optus number, I get the out of service prompt quite often. IS THIS FOR REAL? Don't even get me started on overseas calls

8663 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is can you re-phrase your question? at 29 Dec 2010 06:20:42 PM
we battle to get cell phone reception (bars on the phones) in our 14-year old house. we have 2 cellphone towers within 2-4 km of the house. I called the help line and after 42 minutes someone answered. Luckily it wasn't an emergency. The foreign lady on the line informed me that they do not guarentee reception inside buildings. We had no problem in the rental we were staying at about 5 km away. she suggested I change my settings to 2-g only. That kind of sucks as because then my smart phone would become very dumb. Luckily switching made no difference, so i'm back to 3g. Whe this contract is up, i'm gogin to switch to Telstra. their billing sucks, but at least I'll get reception.

I left my phone for a few hours BUT when I came back, I had no credit left. WTH!! If someone from Vodafone is reading this can you please help me... I have sent email after email and you still haven't replied yet.

8615 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is out of its mind as their Lara bitch, very poor phone and web services at 29 Dec 2010 05:17:48 PM
The dumb Lara often can't understand a thing you say, waiting for one and a half hour or more is pretty much regular (speaker phone) and, for only once,I got lucky that the drunk Lara woke up and asked for my mobile number to call me back!:-)

The web self service is useless when it's often not showing what you're clicking on. "Sorry" is not a service amd is not good enough; once in, it's only showing you a rough usage, especially for data, you'll be charged extra near the end of the monthly period if you belive what you see there!

Dropped calls daily, calls not connecting daily, data streaming terribly slow and very often 'timed out' or 'cannot connect to server' Have tried optus and telstra sim cards in same handset with far better results. OVER IT, It's been going on for months and I am not interested in them offering me anything but getting out of my contract.

Damned if you do, damn I'd u don't I say...
29 Dec 2010 08:55:03 PM: if ur silly enough to listen to Lara u dont have my sympathy, what i do is cut her off every time she speaks i say operator or customer assistance, i have found that it works well.

8577 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodafone isn't that bad surely?? at 29 Dec 2010 04:29:55 PM
I have Been vodafone customer for the last five years and am lucky enough to have found a store that has gone through several coverage issues and customer care calls with me. I think vodafones coverage can be pretty poor a lot of the time, by they are by far the best deal I have received and now I can call people on three and vodafone unlimited, excellent!!! The sales advisor at my store who I visited today said that yes calls are dropping out a lot at the moment and Internet is really slow and unfortunately for the customer, do many customers are buying high data intensive phones and mobile internet that the network upgraded towers have not been able to keep up with it!! Also there is an issue because 3 customers are now roaming onto the vodafone networks as there is network congestion on their roaming partners network making everything a whole heap worse!!! I know it's not the consumers fault, but they have shown me a whole heap of towers that hvw gone up around the Brighton area, and there have been soooo many, and apparently lots more to come with this merger blah blah blah. I say stick in there because they are definatley the best value. I also recommend going to get your services from the smaller stores not in the shopping centers, it's nice to have someone remember your name!!

8575 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is major FAIL at 29 Dec 2010 04:20:04 PM
So over the whole service, on most days it takes me 5-10 times to dail someone and get through! Once i do get though and talk for a few minutes my call drops out! Also my data on the my phone is worsed than dail-up internet speed :S

Been in contact with vodafone and they keep telling me that it's my phone that is the issue, on the second time i called them they told me the same thing even though i took my phone in to be looked at, only to be told that there is nothing wrong with in. When i told the operator this, he still told me its my phone!

I have been with Vodafone for 5 years and in that time i never had all these huge issues! Now at a point to tell vodafail where to go and find another provider!

8574 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Terrible at 29 Dec 2010 04:20:00 PM
Agree, having same problems as everyone & extremely frustrated & angry! Been with Vodafone 10 yrs. Their customer service is almost non existent. The greatest deterioration is in the last few months but declining over past 2 years. Main problems are dropping out, poor reception ie often only 1 - 2 bars, problems with global service while on business & unable to access voicemail - unable to get through to call centre to resolve, on hold 40 minutes at nearly $7 per minute, yes this is the cost to call the customer assistance from overseas! Made several attempts, each time eventually hung up as unable to get through. The one time I got through the girl said this was not her department and we needed to speak to another dept which were not available at that time but she would notify them - we never heard from her or the dept. Attempted online help & also sent email query. Received a response to our email from Vodafail nearly 24 hrs later to tell us they had received & logged our problem & 'they would get back to us' and gave some standard info which didn't help. We were on business overseas and was ridiculous not only that global roaming was not working but that we could not get assistance to fix the problem yet ended up with a big $ bill in trying. On return from overseas attempted multiple times to contact Vodafone to discuss this bill before paying for a service we did not get but could not get through. 3 days after the bill was overdue a bar was put on my phone.... as a last resort to contact vodafail l plugged my phone in to its charger and my partner & l spent a combined nearly 6 hrs on hold to get through to resolve the global roaming bill issues. We are fed up.

8567 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Fed UP at 29 Dec 2010 04:10:06 PM
My main gripe is the poor signal I get from everywhere, including the main cities of Australia. And when you are in regional areas you are often only able to make emergency calls.
MMS arrive days and days late. A MMS sent by a relative from interstate on Christmas Eve arrived on December 29th at 3am. This is simply not good enough, Will be doing all I can to get out of my contract, because enough is enough...

I have been going in and out of reception in the last few weeks and only noticed because people were messaging me to call them as they couldn't get through to me.
Spent an hour on hold yesterday only to give up.
I'm 8 months pregnant living alone so having no coverage in a time of need is not acceptable in my eyes. How can I get out of my contract?!

I have been on the phone to Vodafone and Three for over 2.5 hours trying to resolve unblocking a handset and re-gaining email access, without any resolution to either. So much for Customer Care!!! I was advised to call Vodafone, hung on for 30 mins after whicvh I was informed to ring Three. Was transferred by the Support person only to hear "this service is not available" So much for Support, or lack thereof
