Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I was with Telstra and had great coverage Australia wide. Switched to Vodafone to save some coin and have had numerous problems with poor reception in many areas incl the CBD, calls dropping out and messages arriving days after they were sent.

I'm beyond frustration and in the process of returning to Telstra.

Was with 3 which was great as it roamed on the Telstra network so had great coverage. Since Vodaphone took over, have continued problems with poor reception, calls dropping out, message that the phone is switched off when it is sitting next to me with full reception, etc. etc.
Really frustrating and going to leave ASAP.

14695 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is bills at 26 Jan 2011 07:25:52 PM
Vodafone has been messing with my bills since November 2010. The created a second account for me when i signed a new contract. Credits were not transfered over and they were about 400 worth. I was on hold about 15 times in total over 8 hours on the phone to them. Plus I was promised insurance now find out I don't have this. I thought after speaking to 3 supervisors this was sorted on December 21st December. I got a bill on my old account for the credit which was sent to new account saying I owe them 219 plus bill on my new account of 98. I called got hung up on twice then someone called me back saying we transfered the credit to your othwer account so you owe us still. Tghe service constantly drops out not sure if it is the iphone4 but Vodafone has gone downhill badly in 2010. I have sent emails to their customer care and over having to call them every month to sort out their lack of billing skills. They try to twll me I have 2 phones same number. I can't wait untilk this contract is over so i can say goodbye to Vodafone forever.

14691 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is incompetent at 26 Jan 2011 06:41:39 PM
My handset refused to work (re-setting constantly, not recieving mssages/calls) and was told to put my complaint to the insurance department when my warranty covers faults in the phone for the life of my contract. I objected and spent 5 days over the christmas season on and off the phone with the so-called customer care. After finally giving in and re-contracting with the promise of a discounted early terminaiton fee, I get my bill and no discounts had been applied. I call to query why the discount did not appear clearly on my bill only to be told a lesser amount was applied and there was nothing he could do about it. I asked for the call recording to be retrieved as a product had been sold to me only to be told that calls are not recorded! How can they sell a product if the call was not recorded to say that I was re-contracting? He calls me back to apply the original discounts, but I'll be calling them again soon to get out of my contract. If they think they'll get away with charging an ETC, I will take it further. No proof of sale, no recording of acceptance? No more vodaphone. They can have the phone back too if they want!

14650 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is poor at 25 Jan 2011 09:52:19 PM
I have been with vodafone for two months and forced to pay my first bill twice. i have fight for this billing problem for almost one month (from Christmas) and it ruined my holiday. I signed my contract ($69 -10 cap) on Nov. and vodafone charged me $125.69*2. I'm tired of calling or visiting their stores which were totally useless.
Already lodge the complaint to TIO, see how it works.
25 Jan 2011 09:53:31 PM: Report back once you have an outcome to let us know how you got on. Best of luck.
25 Jan 2011 10:08:48 PM: Thx. I do not want to return my handset or pay for that. Just ask for compensation but not sure what vodafone could offer me. I will share my experience when I got the result. hope our voice could be heard.
25 Jan 2011 10:33:47 PM: My best suggestion is to know what you want before their reolutions team contact you...If you say I want X amount of compensation, but you are a bit shy about asking for it and sticking to your guns about it, then they will offer you a lesser amount and you might cave. Know what it is that you want from the outset, and stick to it, don't let them talk you into anything else.

Again, Best of luck.
26 Jan 2011 07:28:15 AM: Maybe if you actually read your contract you would know that when you sign up with vodafone you have to pay for 2 months on your first bill, it's like a good will thing. That bitch Lara even states it when you ring up.

And no I do not work for vodafone, nor I am not a supporter of vodafone. I hate vodafone just as much as everyone else I want them to go down but I hate people who don't actually read their contracts more.
26 Jan 2011 04:43:15 PM: @ 26 Jan 2011 09:28:15 AM Blimey mate, you should learn to chill a bit more........so much hate.
26 Jan 2011 04:44:23 PM: Telstra, vodafone and Optus are all pro rated charges on there first bill
26 Jan 2011 09:41:56 PM: @26 Jan 2011 09:28:15 AM. I understand I need to pay 2 month for my first bill. What I'm going to complain is my first bill was $125.69, I paid it on 22 Dec but vodafone team could not find this payment which is not my fault... And they promised they would not charge me any money but they charged me $125.69 again on 21 Jan. This is too much for $59 cap..
26 Jan 2011 09:47:13 PM: @26 Jan 2011 12:33:47 AM I'm thinking that ask for waiving 3 months mobile phone bill and vodafone should return the money they over charged. Is it too much?
27 Jan 2011 07:10:35 AM: No.....not enough!!!!

Go for 6 months...........you never know your luck!!!
27 Jan 2011 08:42:05 AM: That's probably the overdue amount, cause the payment has not showed up. How did you pay your bill, did you pay it to the correct account, because it's so easy to do as i did that once
27 Jan 2011 09:19:07 PM: @27 Jan 2011 10:42:05 AM: throught vodafone website, just clicked the 'pay now' button. I gave the customer service the account number which the money transferred to.
27 Jan 2011 09:20:36 PM: @27 Jan 2011 09:10:35 AM: I got the TIO reference number today and waited for vodafone to call me.
27 Jan 2011 10:18:10 PM: vodafone has not called me yet but on their website they cancelled my next bill ($58.99) and gave me $66.7 credit, which totally $125.69...Is that a kind of solution?

14648 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is huge fail at 25 Jan 2011 09:28:14 PM
Signed up to crazy johns on vodaphone may 2010, explained needed coverage in Bright in Victoria as we have a holiday place there. They checked the map and showed us on their computer screen, 'no problems with coverage'. I am often there by myself with my kids and need a reliable phone which until this week I thought I had. This last week up there, phone just kept dropping network, and asking me to select network operator. After calling customer care I did all the usual took out the battery and sim, changed network to gsm instead of dual and selected manual operator. Seemed to work at first, then when my husband arrived Friday, he too was off the air. We spent the last three days of our holiday trying to resolve this issue with customer care to no avail. Today we visited the store we signed with who also tried to get us help through customer care, but it appears crazys johns only guarantee reception at our home address, something they failed to mention when we signed up. The store manager was shocked at what customer care were telling her and also noted that on the coverage map Bright was fully covered. She got no where with customer care so its off to the TIO for me next. Simply, I need a phone that works where they told me it would work and at no time was I told I would only be guaranteed service at my home address, for that I have a Landline!!!
25 Jan 2011 10:17:45 PM: What is the post code for Bright, you can check the coverage on the map at the top of the page in the tab Your Coverage.......if you can please enter your own experiences as well.

Do the phones work at your home address with good signal, have you tried to walk around the house to ensure they do??

Check out the How To Complain tab at the top of the page - may give you direction on what to do next!!

Good luck and let us know how you get on!!! Vodafail.com mod
25 Jan 2011 10:19:31 PM: I think the post code is 3741 (Google is your friend)
26 Jan 2011 06:31:15 PM: Similar issues here, I live in Hoppers Crossing and frequently travel to Maffra postcode 3850. Not only do i get one- two bars of signal inside my home, but Maffra itself is a black spot. I'm lucky to have a single bar of signal to recieve a txt let alone a phone call from someone I need to be in touch with.

I haven't recharged my phone in about 2 months but was soon to get around to it. This morning at 2am to be exact, I received a text from SYS-ALERT telling me my account would be suspended if I didn't recharge by the end of the day. So, I go out and buy some credit, go to redeem it only to be told that it doesn't fit in with my 'plan'. Outraged, that I had just paid $20 for a non-refundable receipt I try to call customer service to get an enquiry as to what's going on. Yet again, only to find that I won't be able to get help until 8 tomorrow morning. That leaves me 20 bucks out of hand and with a suspended account. Unbelievable Vodafone, you truly fail and anger me. Get your act together!
26 Jan 2011 04:45:53 PM: What did it actually say? cause there is an option to change your plan with your recharge, even my 10 yr old son can do no probs

14595 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is FAILED!! at 25 Jan 2011 01:08:06 PM
Every time I call Vodafone I'm put on hold... not just for a few minutes either closer to an hour and sometimes over an hour. I don't get reception at home, at work or standing in the middle of the street most of the time! I get delayed sms msgs, as well as voice mails, my calls drop out at least 4 times a week. I call vodafone at least 3 times a week and every time i get a different response. I was told that I can cancel my contract due to not being able to get reception, i was then told I couldnt get out of my contract without paying.Everytime Vodafone has to call me back... I NEVER have reception to take the call, it just goes straight to my voicemail! PATHETIC COMPANY!
16 Feb 2011 02:37:54 AM: Exactly what i was told! Their customer service reps give you al different stories! A woman told me I could upgrade to another phone in an effect to bypass all the problems I've been having and see how that works. She said there would be no extra charge, that my contract would just be sligtly changed to just lapse over and extend longer. The minute I get through to the upgrade department they start telling me I have seven months left so I need to pay $260 to get out and then start another contract. They then thought the offer they made me of getting me to pay $200 for only six months to get out was the greatest offer ever!!! I've been over-paying for months now, and you really think I want to pay more!!! Not to mention the fact you told me I could just extend my contract with no extra fees at the beginning. GET YOUR FACTS STRAIGHT BETWEEN ALL CUSTOMER SERVICE OPERATORS THANKYOU!

Absolutely ridiculous!

I'll be getting out of my contract courtesy of TIO very soon!

Vodafone is just bad service, poor or no network coverage at all and a billion other issues right now!!!

I signed up for mobile broadband only to never receive a service for the 8 weeks it was connected and during many unanswered emails and phone calls i eventually was told the problem was there end,but it never changed and they turned service off and then demanded payment in full which i said no,i said i will pay reduced amount but have never heard a word since and that was over a year ago, they have now defaulted my credit rating illegally and falsely without notification and still refuse to answer emails or return phone calls,so joining the class action is looking like my only answer.

Without fail - they have overcharged me on every single bill. To try and get through to customer support, you have to wait a minimum of 30-45 minutes. When I cfinally get through, the person on the other end always states that they can not understand why it has been charged as sucha nd will look into it.

They then say they will contact me as soon as they haev resolved it. never once have I been contacted back.

What a joke - their servcie is truly appalling.

Lets hope people vote with their feet and shift to alternative telecoms providers even though vodafone is chepaer, the service is soooo poor and the product is really bad.

Lets hope that Vodafone is no more.

14580 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Mega fail at 25 Jan 2011 11:46:33 AM
I have been with Vodafone for a few years now and have never really had any issues. However since upgrading to an iPhone 4 in September and signing a new 2 year contract, all of a sudden I'm having continuing issues with 3G coverage. Sometimes it works fine, other times it takes forever, but in most cases it doesn't work at all. This is particularly annoying as I rely on 3G coverage a lot. Phone reception is also a major issue. Recently I was holidaying in Bright (VIC) and on the first day I had full reception and perfect 3G coverage, however by the next day and for the remainder of my holiday I had no coverage at all! I couldn't pick up not even the slightest signal. Not good enough and I'm fed up. As soon as this current contract is up, I'm switching to a more reliable network coverage provider.
25 Jan 2011 09:36:05 PM: Ahhhh another person having trouble in Bright. I too had trouble, but was told repeatedly that there were no service issues in bright and there was full coverage. If you look at the coverage map it shows full coverage - dont see out your contract, check with the TIO maybe more of us calling them may help them to make quicker decisions!

14557 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Incredibly Bad at 25 Jan 2011 09:58:23 AM
We have extremely poor coverage from our home, even though we were guaranteed 100% coverage when we signed a 24 month contract. As I use my mobile for work it is really frustrating when speaking to customers that the calls continually drop out, most customers feel sorry for me when I tell htem I'm with Vodafone but that doesn't fix the problem. I tried to speak to an operator at Vodafone earlier today, eventually when I got through I asked if she (Rita) had my mobile number, she said yes and repeated it back to me, I then said I was enquiring about exiting my contract early.... you can guess the rest... the phone went engaged, this was not a drop out as I was calling from a landline. I was hoping that because she had my mobile number she would call me back, but no such luck. They have lost the plot, I can't wait to change carriers.

14555 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is EPIC Fail at 25 Jan 2011 09:37:10 AM
I joined up to the Vodafone infinity $45 per month plan in November and immediately there were problems. The person in the store who set it up did not inform me that i would be paying one month in advance, and when i questioned him about this (as in, i had to prompt him to tell me about it), he said that my first bill would just be two bills in one). However, my first bill came within two weeks of signing up to the plan, and was an odd amount. I had signed up for direct debit, so i knew this amount would be taken out regardless of any complaints i made. I called customer care, and to my surprise i actually got through quite quickly. I spoke to someone who told me that the 'odd' amount was due to pro rated charges (sorry if that is spelt incorrectly), and that i should have been told that i would be paying one month in advance, and then one month at the end of the first cycle. I let this slide, and figured i probably just had somebody who was new that was setting up my account. Anyways, following this, i found that i could not access the android market and could not download anything as it would simply just say 'download queued'. After several phone calls to customer care, and endless nights spent googling to try and find the answer to correct this, i finally rang a motorola service centre who put me directly onto motorola. Motorola called and told me to do a factory re-set, which i did, and this did not fix the problem. I then had to go into the original vodafone store where i signed up, and had to replace the handset. After waiting around for about an hour, and having a different store clerk serve me, i found that the replacement handset still had the same problem. I told the store clerk, who spent about 5 minutes fiddling with the phone, only to find out that it was a simple setting in the phone that had to be changed. Thank goodness he knew what he was doing! So not only had customer care wasted my time and made me change numerous settings on the phone, they had no idea how to actually fix the handset they are selling. Following this, i had no further problems. For the last couple of days, i have noticed that the internet speed on my phone has decreased dramatically, and sometimes it just simply will not even connect to the internet during peak times (i.e. after 5pm when i finish work, 12pm-1pm during my lunch hour, and in the morning from about 8am to 9am when i am travelling to work). This morning, i had reception at about 6am to 7am, but as soon as 8am arrived, i have not been able to use anything on my phone that requires an internet connection. Hence, making my phone useless in terms of the android software. I called customer care, and asked for a call back. I did receive a call back within about 5 minutes which was quite good, however the representative i spoke to was no help. He first tried to convince me that it was the setting on the phone, and once i explained that i had done nothing to change the settings and it had been working 2 hours earlier, he quickly changed his story to 'over congestion of the network'. I then asked how Vodafone was going to compensate me for this, as i am basically paying for a service i cannot use, and i got some story about how the merger between 3 and vodafone has affected network status. I became increasingly frustrated with the lack of assistance being provided and i terminated the call. I am extremely disapointed with this, and have already started looking at optus plans to change to. My internet has since started working following the phone call, but a three hour outage is simply not acceptible. I am only on a 12 month contract, and am seriously considering changing to optus or telstra and simply paying out the contract. unfortunately, it seems that nobody can escape the wrath of vodafone and its epic fail of a service.

Constant poor reception in normal Melbourne suburbs within 25km of the CBD most annoyingly in our home suburb where we can rarely make or receive calls due to drop outs and poor reception. Also stupendously slow data when we do happen to have full 3G coverage and want to check something online. Lodged a complaint with Vodafone who said they would look into our 'deadspot' and received 1-2 calls and SMS's from them a week at all times of day and night just to tell me they were looking into it but never a resolution. We've been with Vodafone for years and never had trouble like the last year or so, switching as soon as we are near the end of our contract!

I've been trying all morning to fix my password. I did get to talk to someone who had 'technical difficulties' and had me on hold for about 5 minutes. Then he said I would get a new temp password by text. I though he'd wait until I got it but he said 'Have a nice day' and hung up. It never came. Now I have been trying to get through again and I can't! I am getting dropped from the automatic service, or not getting through at all.
What has happened to these people?? I've been with them for about 1.5 years - I've never loved them but it seems they have imploded!

Have been with vodafone for years but this last year has been crap! The 1% charge to pay by card should be absorbed by them. They offered me a new phone and $10 off every month for the next 12 months last july, it took 4 months for them to honor it despite my monthly complaints and their verbal acceptance and promise of fixing it every month when my bill arrived. Each of the complaint calls I made to them showed up a calls that were charged in my monthly cap on my bill...The reception where I have moved to which is only a 20min drive to melbourne cbd is poor at best and makes it very hard to communicate with people.

14546 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Tardy at 25 Jan 2011 07:51:53 AM
Had complained about service in three addresses. Lodged an online complaint and was offered 2 months credit. Said I wanted out and they wanted to investigate for three weeks. I then lodged a TIO complaint; they had until yesterday to rectify the situation - heck even call me. That didn't happen, so I called the TIO again. They now have three or so weeks to get back to me...

14541 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Huge fail!! at 25 Jan 2011 07:00:59 AM
I have been with 3 for two years and in December 2010 switched to Vodaphone as my 3 contract expired. The Vodaphone Infinate plan seemed like a dream come true. Dream come true turned nightmare. My boyfriend signed up to Vodaphone in November 2010. We often try for about 20 mins to 45 mins to try to call each other. Phone either just will not connect or goes straight through to voicemail. So the one person we both need to be able to call, we can't! Well done Vodaphone, great service for two new customers!!!

14537 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Didn't know I wasn't alone... at 25 Jan 2011 06:13:40 AM
Heh, I thought it was just me having issues. I get dropped calls inside my house on the eastern side of footscray, near the city, bad internet connections at home despite showing several bars of reception (fluctuating), internet doesn't work as often as it should, even if I'm standing in the middle of the city, near the queen vic markets. I've missed a few calls now too without any ringing and gotten some pretty delayed messages.

The gotcha is... Vodafone is the only telco that I can find that will allow me to use the included value of the caps to call overseas and I do so quite often to keep in touch with family...

Anyone got any advice??

Just changed to prepaid Telstra wireless internet account and can't believe it - internet finally working and it doesn't matter where I am in the house! Once my mobile account with Vodafone (or should I say vodafail) finishes I'll also be going across to Telstra!).....whilst the customer service people were nice to speak to on the phone at vodafone I had to wait in excess of 40 minutes on one occassion and another occasion the phone line cut out after 40 minutes ... fail!

After having a problem with my recharge by credit card I followed recorded message instructions 4 times but to no avail. I then called vodafone's support line and was put on hold. I have been on hold for 2 and a half hours all the while being reassured by "Lara" voice to "hang in there we'll be with you really soon". I am sure it will be soon in geological terms but not in human terms. I am still on hold waiting as I type! No, At the 2 and 3/4 mark I have now been disconnected. I feel quite unfriendly toward vodafone.
25 Jan 2011 05:43:59 AM: If you played that"hang in there we'll be with you really soon".once over the loudspeakers at say,the football, you'd have a third of the spectators turning around and punching the first person they saw.

14469 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Just Plain Sucks... at 24 Jan 2011 04:13:22 PM
Moved to Australia from NZ about 18 months ago - had Vodafone in NZ so stuck with it here. Two basic complaints:

(1) Coverage - For 2 weeks prior to the New Year, my girlfriend & I were campervaning around Gippland. For those 2 weeks for about 98% of the time we had no service. We should have just left the phones at home.

(2) I am on a pay-as-you-go plan and really resent the fact that if I do not use my credit (which I have paid for) by some certain date, the Vodafone just takes the balance. To me, this is like the bank saying if you do not spend everything in your cheque account by X date, the money is ours - how would that go down? Also, I find it really irritating that the way you find out you have no more credit is when you try to txt or make a call. Surely they know when you are getting low and could give you a heads up so you might me able to do something about it. I recently had that happen to me after I got on a tram & was trying to call my girlfriend - if I had been sent a txt that I was low I could of topped up at hundreds of places in central Melbourne. But what can you do on a tram???????
24 Jan 2011 05:55:56 PM: don't bring vodafone to the country, or any other telco other than telstra.

14466 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Unprofessional service at 24 Jan 2011 04:09:46 PM
Changed to Vodafone for a "better deal" from another provider with whom I never had a problem in 6 years. Firstly, I wait almost 3 weeks to receive my new phone in the mail. There are no instructions included in the package regarding the account activation process. I call customer service for help only to be hung up on 3 times. I try to call the mobile number given to me by the girl who offered me the deal ("just call me directly if you have any problems...") but she's on holidays for the next 3 weeks. Perfect. Finally get through and activate the phone except they haven't transferred my old number over and have given me a new one which I had specifically asked them not to do. Rather than attempt to call them, I go to the store. Two staff behind the desk say it's impossible to transfer my old number over when luckily, the young guy stacking the shelves overhears the conversation and says "just type in the number you want transferred and click 'transfer'". I get minimal reception at home with frequent drop-outs (never had this before) and the touch-screen handset is a disaster to use even with my skinny fingers. Lucky last, they've started billing me from the day they posted my phone out so now I'm paying the bill to Vodafone and to my old provider this month. Whatever saving I was going to make this year is gone in the first bill. Stuck in the contract for another 23 months.

14459 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic at 24 Jan 2011 03:02:35 PM
Delays in Voicemail of up to 2 days, disappearing incoming SMS's, an inability to reach Vodafone Call Centre staff - and when on the one occasion, I did make it through, I was called a liar by the supervisor of the Call Centre - which was retracted as soon as I asked to be disconnected (back here in Australia). When reporting my issue via email - I was told that it was because of 3G network congestion, and I should try and find a 3G blackspot so I can failback to the 2G network.

These guys used to be great - but they have grown faster than their ability to manage it. Less money on Advertising and Cricket sponsorship, and more money on providing a reliable network - or release me from this contract...

14436 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Signal strenth and late voicemails at 24 Jan 2011 01:00:48 PM
My Vodafone phone is both a personal and work phone. Over the last year I've had numerous calls drop out plus voicemail message notifications delayed. I have just started a new job which requires me to be out of the office most of the day. It is extremely frustrating when suppliers and collegues are unable to contact me due to a lack of coverage even though I do the majority of my work in Melbourne CBD. Over the last week my mobile phone has been my main source of contact. I have been running an event and my key suppliers have been unable to contact me or their voice and text messages have been coming through at least an hour late. I also used to have Vodafone internet however I left them at the end of my contract due to a lack of reception. I was never able to download music, movies or even photos on Facebook. I also could never use Skype to talk to friends and family overseas. I'm now looking to break my contract and find another supplier however I'm concerned that Vodafone will charge me even though they haven't met their carrier obligations.

14427 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is money for nothing at 24 Jan 2011 11:39:09 AM
I signed up with vodafone in september 2010. Ever since I've had unreliable internet connection and call dropouts. About 3 weeks ago internet connect became all but non-existent (1 hour plus to DL a 1MB file - thats worse than dial up if I recall). The reason I signed up was the fact that they offered more data allowance (1.5GB + 1GB for 12 months). I cannot use ADSL at my home so I was planning to supplement my telstra wireless connection with my phone (as a portable wifi hotspot). but the phone (as a wifi hotspot) is as useful as tits....you know the rest. I also use email frequently while I'm out and about for work and study so I've been considerable disadvantaged and inconvenienced with gmail conversations that are "unable to load". I tried 5 times to call 1555 but I'm not prepared to wait over 1 hour to have my call answered ( I think thats reasonable), they alo mentioned a 'callback' option on the website but Lara didn't seem to want to tell me that. Anyway, I called one sunday morning and it was answered almost immediately but an Indian man who asked if I'd turned the phone off and on again or tried the SIM in another phone. I didn't say it, because he's only doing a job, but I thought why should I have to try the SIM in another phone - I got a phone from vodafone brand new. anyway, apparently a 'team' of engineers will investigate the problem and call me back within 5 days....here I wait with bated breath. If not call in 5 days I will contact the TIO and get out of this contract......straight to telstra for me (never thought i'd say that.

14363 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is BAD at 23 Jan 2011 08:39:44 PM
I have been very unhappy with the service vodafone provide - data dropping out in particular. Only of late (last few months) has my 3G sevice dropped out within surburban Melbourne (less than 8 km from CBD) on a regular basis.

Whilst in Hobart for Christmas, I had several occasions that ALL DAY I could not use my phone at all as it had NO RECEPTION. The irony being I was even across the road from the Vodafone store while this happened. Really not good enough.

Luckily, my 24 month plan ended on 22 jan. I rang up today to lower my plan to its original amount and confirm I was on a month-by-month deal now. (I was advised by store staff that I could not do this in store, but had to ring) Rather than being lowered from the $49 cap to $29 cap, after over an hour on the phone I had been placed on a 24 month contract of $49 a month. I could not understand the operator, who had a very thick accent and breathed very heavily into the call, and it seemed he could not understand me. Luckily staff were able to assist me in store after several phone calls and faxing my contact. I was then placed on a $29 cap for month by month. I never agreed to signing a contract, as never told I was verbally entering a contract at any point.

I have changed provider today.

14326 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Moderate to High at 23 Jan 2011 04:16:19 PM
My reception, as we all expect is poor. However, I recently signed up and recieved a Samsung Galaxy S from the voda store in Greensborough VIC.

My phone was faulty, had a massive buzz noise coming from the ear speaker when making calls, to which the "manager" explained that all phones are different and it's normal. She spoke to me in very broken english and was very direct, leading me to believe that communication was going to be very challenging. Her and her junior employee decided that there was no problem, although 5 minutes prior to the descision the junior college admitted he could here "something" .. as soon as his manager said it was fine, he backed down and remained quiet.
I left the store only to return later with a Galaxy s to compare it to and it's owner for proof, she (the manager) could still not hear anything and the phone was "perfect" this time, the junior staff mbr listened and said it was fine. I had noted that her stong chinese accent had dissipated quite alot this time around, and her communication skills were much more adequete and easier to understand.

I had to request that other staff members test the phone, to which she asked 2 others to test, they did so and blantently said they could hear it was buzzing and not as it should be.

The phone was replaced, but I have found out it was a refurbished model.

Not happy, it should not take 2 attempts at the store, 1.5 hours of standing my ground with vodafone staff that are not qualified to tell me that I am wrong and the phone is perfect. Lesson is do not let them play you, be determined and fight... unfortunately you have to with these guys. It's like getting blood from a stone.
23 Jan 2011 04:27:40 PM: Good for you standing your ground!!!

The old adage 'the customer is always right' applies here!!
24 Jan 2011 08:48:05 AM: Hey mate, you should of got a NEW phone, as there is a 14day Early life failure program, I wouldn't cop a refurbish phone, Vodafone are now making money from your misfortune with a warranty claim back to the manufacturer. A buzz in the earphone is a faulty screen, usually when the backlight is on. Thats a phone fault.

Check this out and before you write me off as crazy I mean really check it out... maybe this explains where Vodaphone and 3 are coming from and why they realy dont care about this mess they are in. Vodaphone is the worlds largest carrier and as far as they are concerned they are laughing all the way to the bank. Any press is good press. I read in the Herald Sun recently about vodafail and the class action and 2 pages later Vodaphone has a full page advertising article promoting their new plans. Surely they must be in breach of some law (trades practises act perhaps???) that says if you cant service the customers you have now then you shouldnt be allowed bring any new customers on. Its kinda like selling a car with a faulty part and instead of recalling it and fixing the problem you just keep on sellin more cars... crazy!

As I said before Vodaphone is the worlds largest mobile carrier. Three mobile was (maybe still is the 2nd largest)

After researching some more obscure aspects of these 2 companies it seems they may have been in bed together since the start (of 3 anyway).

The following website shows the motivations and inspirations behind some of the worlds largest corporations logos. Copy this link into your web browser and see for yourself and decide

http://pakalert.wordpress.com/2009/06/20/top-5-most-sinister-corporate-logos/

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4_jOGAwpmCs - Vodaphone logo mystery

and if that wasnt strange enough it seems like the 3 merger must have been done when they began...

check out the 3 logo here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cb87bpnoQww&feature=related

(FYI there is a 3 network and Vodphone network in Italy)

You decide what is going on. When I was a kid back in the early 80's the priest used to say at church that in the future we would all bear the mark of the beast 666. Seems like he was right seeing as I now carry it around everywhere I go with every step I take being recorded and tracked.

23 Jan 2011 06:48:32 PM: The vodafail logo would only be an issue if you believe in that stuff. If you do believe in it, you would have other problems in your life to sort out first, before trying to get a phone working.

I drove through the great ocean road with two friends, along the great ocean road, My IPHONE4 kept showing 'no service', while my friends' hand sets could make call, they are with telstra and optus. it sucks! if possible to swith to other companies without penalty?
22 Jan 2011 10:32:48 PM: Contact the TIO, Vodafone are not supplying the service you signed up for, by contacting the TIO, vodafone get fined and you get out of your contract penalty free. Check out the 'how to complain' link at the top of the page.

14218 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Australia wide at 22 Jan 2011 09:08:10 PM
I was a customer of Vodafone continuously for over 18 years , at first when the network was 100% Ericsson it was clearly the best network, it work everywhere i went and worked well. Since they started installing non Ericsson equipment in the last 5 to 7 years the quality fell, due to giving contracts to the lowest bidder. having spent most of my life in communications it is well known that there is some equipment out there that just does not communicate with others on a signalling level and therein lies the problem, you have to introduce interface equipmet that translates signals, introducing delays. The last three or four years the network became so hopeless and my bills grew so big that i had prepaid accounts on other telco providers to reduce costs, i was solidly loyal to vodafone in spite of this. in 2009 when my most recent contract fell due i was offered a new phone and new plan and because i had so many problems i extracted a verbal guarantee from the telephone salesperson that the problems were over if i took the new handset or i could cancel my contract. two days with the new phone and nothing had changed so i called in the promise, i got several new handsets sent to me over three weeks proposing to solve the problem but in the end they had to honour the agreement and cancel my contract. i moved to telstra and service was vastly differnt, it took vodafone 7 months to send me a refund cheque after calling them week in week out for my refund, alas i read they have bought huawei equipment, all i can say is good luck vodafone you made your bed now lie in it.

14204 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is DISGUSTED!!! at 22 Jan 2011 06:39:44 PM
First, let me explain about my case

i left Australia, Melbourne on 2007, i signed up with Three (now Vodafone) around 2005 and i cancelled my contract in 2007 when i left melbourne that time.

but for some dumb reason Vodafone/Three suddenly sent a debt notice saying that i owe them over AUD 3000...since i havent been paying my phone bill since 2008 which is kinda stupid since i left australia in 2007.

the thing that pissing me off is that i called vodafone/three customer service all they responded is that the account 042-179-3290 has been blocked by the aus debt collector so they cant do anything until my business with the debt collector finished, so i called the debt collector but they said that i have to finished the problem with vodafone/three since they are the one who said that i have the debt and all ausdebt do is to collect the debt from me. so they keep passing me around for about 10 times FUCKIN DUMB!!! it cost HELL A LOT OF MONEY TO CALL FROM OVERSEAS yet they didnt clear up anything.

and the weird thing that i found out after i investigate this matter, the account is actually under my name, but all the details that are on it is soo wrong e.g. my address, and etc. but yet...vodafone/three saying that the reason that the address is change because i moved out from my old address......what the fuck are they on about.....i left australia on 2007 and how am i suppose to moved out from my old address if im not in australia during that time....what an idiot.....
22 Jan 2011 07:06:37 PM: at NO time are you obligated to talk to a debt collector...you can demand vodafail deal with this...
24 Jan 2011 08:43:49 AM: Three is still three and vodafone is vodafone, they are two different networks, get your facts straight, they also have two different call centres

14203 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very much at 22 Jan 2011 06:35:47 PM
Hi,

i have two major issues with vodafone since moving from 3, which are:
1) Call drop out. My wife is on vodafone and whenever i called here i have to always dial 2 or 3 times in order to complete our conversation. Quite frustrating.
2) As soon as i am away from Melbourne city there is no vodafone network, and i don't know why it also does not goes to roaming to any other network (not quite sure vodafone has roaming contract with which other company).

Have been just 5 months with vodafone, don't know how will i be able to continue my remaining contract with so much issues. Vodafone has not provided the service which is required. Regret to move from 3 to vodafone.

I have been on vodafone for nearly 2 years and have also shared the usual pain of contant dropouts and no reception. Ever since i started my service with vodafone i have experienced these problems, recently i called vodafone customer service to upgrade my plan and was on hold for a total of one hour and a half and in that hour and a half i spoke to 3 different departments. Customer Service put me on hold for 45 minutes and then I was informed that I was put through to the wrong department which was Sales and was then put on hold for a further 45 minutes to have the phone answered and to be told to please hold whilst he checked my account. All this only to be hung up on.... What a waste of my time. This is not good enough Vodafone, YOU ARE A JOKE!

I am an ex Vodafone customer. I had difficulties in closing our account...for a months after we did so via the Vodafone customer service number we kept getting bills. Vodafone told us they had no record of the call to customer service. Eventually we contacted the telecommunications ombudsman. They called Vodafone and finally convinced them that we didn't want to be customers anymore. So it's even difficult to quit the company.

22 Jan 2011 05:07:28 PM: Vodafone is definately the problem.Try your sim card in someone elses phone. If it does the same thing tell vodafone you want a investigation launched into your service. if they find its the service you can cancel your contract with no fee to pay. contact TIO if you have further issues

coverage not so much an issue, but all ive wanted to do for 23 months out of a 24 month contract is get my F-ING phone fixed, sick of being pushed back and forward to the store and the phones, not one person accepted responcibility for it. and the lovely machine i spoke to always said that it would do everything to help me, i dont see how spending 8 hours over 3 days on hold BEFORE i got to speak to anyone is helping. feel sorry for the people on the phones a little cause the hold time just sets up an argument.
VODA couldnt organise a shag in a brothel.

Then they gave me a hard time when I called to get a credit, which took two billing cycles to sort out.

14152 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Ruins my business at 22 Jan 2011 10:34:30 AM
I am constantly dropping out of service with Vodafone all of a sudden. I have been with Vodafone for the last 8 years and for the last 3 - 6 months I have had nothing but drama drama drama. I know that it has gone down hill because now it doesn't work in places that it used to. I will be on a business call and it drops out and it just looks sooooo unprofessional.
The plans / customer service etc are fantastic but having no reception or consistency is the problem.
In addition, you can't always dial out because it says "congestion".
It is ridiculous and causes a lot of trouble. Text messages also sometimes don't come to me or they can take hours.
Am OVER the "SOS" signal being on my phone.

Are 3 and vodaphone seperate companies or as they have "merged" am I able to attempt to have my contract cancelled? I cant call customer service as I have no coverage, when I do the service will only allow roaming which I believe costs more!! Anyone out there have any information or are in the same situation?

14133 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is redefining epic fail at 22 Jan 2011 08:55:36 AM
i signed up to get vodafone mobile broadband (The USB dongle thingy) it took 2 months for it turn up, I was billed for the first month. After much complaining the refunded the months charges and then gave me 3 months free, which never happened. I gave up on that over time.

For the past 2 months, the internet drops out every 2-3 mins but never disconnects. However the green light disappears and then comes back again.

I live in the Knox region in east Melb, yet signal strength is always between 2 and 3 bars. I upgraded the firmware and the software. The problem still persists.

I'm using Windows 7 on a dell mini.

Also, my mobile is with Vodafone, and it regularly drops out in several places if I'm talking while on the train. Black spots are at Heathmont, Nunawading, Blackburn, Box Hill, Surrey Hills and Canterbury. I used to have a Telstra mobile and it worked perfectly fine the whole way through.

The coverage maps shows strong signal for the whole area where I live and work etc. There's a even a black spot walking down Auburn Rd, Hawthorn.

I hope I can cancel the plan in Feb/March (about 6 months early) with no cost, so that I can get ADSL again and get a much more reliable mobile carrier.

Never have I been so disgruntled before. And I'm someone who has a very high threshold for this sort of stuff. Generally I can live with it and it won't bother me, but this is so frustrating. I can't use the internet yet they'll still charge me for it.

14129 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Reception/Customer Service/Billing at 22 Jan 2011 08:31:42 AM
Too many reception black spots around Melbourne and outer suburbs.

1 Example: Since approx 1998 same 500m-1km radius on Camberwell Rd
Camberwell Rd Just near where it meets Glen Iris road, you will drop
you call without fail...that's if you can get reception.
(Telstra/Optus no issue whatsoever)

Too many country/rural area's no reception at all.

1 Example: Tarwin Lower / Venus Bay (Gippsland Vic)
You cannot get reception! Has been like this as
long as i can remember... circa 1994-1996.
As soon as you go past Inverloch forget it.
Have to drive to beach 5 carpark at Venus Bay,
jump fence walk to highest sand dune or stand up on
the park bench to get reception across the inlet back
to Inverloch/Wonthaggi (line of sight/weather dependent).
(Telstra/Optus, no issue all areas)

Billing.

When I was on contract with vodafone, invoices were never correct, seemed
to be always a month behind.

Customer Service.

A long time ago, before Lara also, used to very good.
I used to call them about my inaccurate invoices and staff would
be very helpful/knew the systems and products, or who to transfer
to if they could not help.

Now with that hindrance of Lara and when you get a staff member,
it can be really difficult, some need more training.

OMG The staff at vodafone stores, dont ask them for help, they have to use Lara!
How stoopid is that.

As a customer service representative and sales person at the store you should have full access to assist customers.

At the highpoint vodafone store, i asked a vodafone employee, i need to change my mobile number, she told me they can help me, i left then came back 30 minutes later and asked another vodafone worker, at the same store i want my number changed, she arrogantly said we dont change numbers here, she did not even look at me, she made no effort to help me, only when i reminded her, i was there 30 minutes earlier, she then gave me options, she was rude, and was laughing, when i left, i then bought a sim card , and went to the other vodafone store at highpoint, and asked the female assistant for help, as the instructions on the sim card indicated, her reply was to do it myself at home, PATHETIC SERVICE, BY STAFF WHO DONT WANT TO HELP, AND WHENEVER USING MY PHONE, THE LINE GOT CUT OFF, disgrace

I have been with VF for years now. I never had to many call drop outs until more recently with an iPhone. With every call I make it will drop out at least 2-3 times in a short conversation. This is increasingly frustrating for me, as I am trying to run a business using VF's crappy 'service' and I'm the one looking like an idiot to my clients. I have found that the newer phones are the ones that are dropping out more frequently. In my own house where I usually get full reception, I am constantly out of service.

14110 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is reception / drop outs at 22 Jan 2011 07:08:22 AM
i have been a long term customer of vodafail, however during the past 8 months and esp the past 6. My service has become worse and worse. I live in a melbourne suburb with plenty of phone towers around and still my reception disappears and i also have the call just disengage while in on a call.

I have called vodaphone several times and followed there assistance and changed sim cards and even went to apple and obtained a new i phone, and performed a reset of the phone. i had there credit department call me back and after explaining to them the issues at great length and repeating myself they had no solution, even while i was on that particular call the phone disengaged as usual and i didnt even get a return call.

i explained to them that i am a truck driver and i cannot be pulling over each time i want to make a call, and i cant afford to be seen even touching my phone while in transit. I am sick of calling people back sometimes 3 -4 times in the course of ten minutes, also there are volume issues where the people i am speaking with can bearly hear me or the sound fades in and out.

I hope sometime comes out of this submission. When i have 2 hours spare again i will be calling them back !

14108 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Huge at 22 Jan 2011 07:01:33 AM
I sent a complaint recently to Vodafone after this episode (you can tell I just had ENOUGH of putting up with their horrid service!) says it all really..

I want to vehemently complain about the absolutely terrible customer service I experienced today. I attended the above store after work today and waited for over 40 MINUTES before being served. In all my years, I have never waited in store for that amount of time without even one of the SIX staff members at least advising that they would serve us shortly. There were at least 6-8 other people in the queue, half eventually left but as I needed my prepaid broadband voucher, I had no choice. I am extremely disappointed with the customer service in this store. At no time did the staff attempt to tell us who were waiting in the queue acknowledge we were waiting. It took two people to service one person, one person constantly walking around on a mobile, one who was serving and then just walked away from the counter and did not return or attempt to tell any other staff to attend the counter!!! I work for a government agency and even for me, this was DISGUSTING!!! Absolutely and unequivocally the WORST service I have had the misfortune of experiencing for a very long time. I am so angry that I am seriously contemplating changing my service with you even though it has been quite good. I do not often complain in this fashion but this has not been the first time I have had this happen in this store, except this time it was exceptionally longer than ever! After venting my frustration on facebook, I am still very upset at this. Surely I can get better service from Optus, Telstra, Virgin or 3 then what I had to endure today!! I would like to know that this complaint has been brought to the attention of the store manager and staff members. How can you treat your customers in this way?? Especially at a time when we are on our way home from work to be so disregarded and disrespected by your staff. I do not know if staying with Vodafone is worth being treated so poorly!!!
22 Jan 2011 07:35:25 AM: Hi there, same thing happened to me as well, and I ended up cancelling from vodafone, while it is not acceptable to treat people like this, in the interest
of yourself not having to waste time, many times you can get vouchers from petrol stations and I also used to go through vodafone website, but I wouldn't even trust them with my credit card details in light of all the security breaches lately.

The entire system is garbage. Really obscenely bad customer service. INternet that won't work. No replys to emails, no joy on the phone, website that won't allow bills viewed or account status viewed. These guys should be out of business.
