Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

6249 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Connectivity at 28 Dec 2010 09:25:29 AM
I've always been with Optus but a friend recommended Vodafone. I've been with Vodafone for 4-5 months now and connection is poor for calls AND data connectivity. I can never get any connection when on the ground floor at Chadstone Shopping Centre or when at Huntingdale Station. But in general the connection is unacceptable. For the past couple of days I have been having difficulty with their data connectivity. I'm unable to log onto the internet, facebook or retrieve my emails. I'm paying for their service but not getting any. It's like with the Metro train system. They need to get their act together!! Stop making excuses for themselves and just fix the problem! They manage to bill us every month without any glitch but when it comes to providing us service for what we're paying......it's a disgrace!!!!

6241 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extreme! at 28 Dec 2010 09:20:58 AM
I've had numerous ongoing issues with Vodumbphone for over a year, I made repeated calls to their service and tech teams and was told the reception in my area was great. I live by a small airport and one operator even told me the radar could be effecting my reception (wtf?)

After lodging numerous complaints i was given a new 3G modem (small slim line model) and was told it picks up more frequencies, unfortunately this was not true, I still had major data and call drop outs.

When i asked to cancel my mobile and 3G internet plan i was threatened with heavy cancellation fee's. It's a joke!

another issue is how they release better plans but won't let you switch (even if it means signing a new 12 or 24 month contract, i was always advised i had to pay out my old contract which must be illegal! It's just not how a business should be operated.

6239 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Unbelievably Lame at 28 Dec 2010 09:20:12 AM
Not only do I have my mobile with vodafone (and i have the same low coverage, dropouts, calls just not connecting etc) but i have my internet through them. I was told I should have an average speed of 1-3mbps, I'm lucky to get that. It averages at about 30-50kbps, if i'm lucky. Quite often I have to take my laptop outside to be able to connect to the internet, and despite the coverage map saying I have FULL coverage, I'm lucky to get more than 2 bars of service!!! It can take up to 10 minutes to load a basic page and up to 30 min for a Facebook page, and sometimes, even sitting outside, I can't connect. This happens so often that I've actually been able to figure out the days and times where I'm going to have the most trouble connecting!! I am sooo angry that it's not funny, but I really can't afford to go with a differnt carrier that provides service in my area, so as I need to have phone and internet access, I have had to shut up and put up. I've had enough of it.

6236 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is POOR SERVICE at 28 Dec 2010 09:17:41 AM
1. For the last 6 months I continuously get Call Failed, I call Voda and the CSC support tell me it's because it is on 3G network so they make me turn 3G off?? what's the point of having 3g technology if you cant use it?
2. Voda USB shocking unable to connect, internet drops out never have 3g coverage always HSDPA when i call Voda CSC support they tell me it is because my computer has a virus.

I am sick of calling Vodafone to get help I spent 45 minutes on the phone with them regarding my iphone not being able to recieve calls (for 8hrs) and not being able to connect to internet on the USB modem I told the person I was speaking to this is total B*** Sh*t and he swore back at me ??? where is the good old fashioned Customer Service attitude!?!?!?
I WANT TO BE APART OF THE CLASS ACTION!

I was a loyal Vodafone customer for over 10 years & never had an issue with them or their coverage until 10 mths ago. Numerous calls & emails & to Vodafone about their disgraceful coverage came with many replies that they were upgrading their network coverage. It never got any better & my phone was totally useless, calls dropping out & no coverage at all. Switched to Telstra & haven't looked back.

I was with telstra for ages and their customer service was disgusting compared to vodafone.. You may have good coverage but ur treated like dirt even though u pay out of your butt.. Vodafone is fixing the network as fast as they can.. It's their number 1 priority and if any of you know anything about how much time and effort it takes to bios a network you would give the guys a chance.. It can take 12 months for significant improvements..

I am one of the poor people that when the time came to renew with 3 mobile got sucked into the come over to Vodafone discussion as everyone will be under Vodafone soon. Was advised the coverage in my area is good (it isn't and depends which room I am in whether I have any bars available - one is usually cause for celebration!!). Also got billed by them for money they had received and spent the week trying to get hold of them to sort it out only to be cut off by operators twice after waiting in excess of 40 minutes to speak to someone.

When I complained to Vodafone I was told that the application does not co,ply with Vodafone and it never will. A service offered to others is denied me, should have been told at the time of purchase

6193 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Getting Worse at 28 Dec 2010 08:56:28 AM
Hi, I've been with Vodafone for over 10 years. I have always been quite happy with them until the last 3 years. Generally their support has been good but i increasingly seem to come across certain support staff that think they have a license to to be rude or dismiss my issues without even listening. This has been a recent thing.
NOW!! The network is total crap. It took me 30 mins to log into my bank (nab) and do a fund transfer last night. Remarkably i was in the city which made it more frustrating. I've always accepted that Vodafone don't get coverage in certain areas. As it only affected me a few times (one example Dalesford) i haven't been too concerned about it.
FOR ME THE HUGE ISSUES IS THE FACT THAT DATA IS VERY SLOW AND CAN HANG! IT'S FRUSTRATING TO USE AND THEY KEEP BLAMING MY IPHONE 3GS WHEN I CALL THEM WHICH IS CLEARLY NOT THE CASE. I'M NOW INFRURIATED BY THEM.
SECONDLY, SINCE OWNING THE IPHONE MY RECEPTION HAS BECOME WORSE. IT IS RARE THAT I HAVE FULL BARS IN THE CENTRE OF MELBOURNE.

AFTER 10 YEARS I'M STARTING TO GET FED UP WITH THESE GUYS.

6189 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is as useful as used toilet paper at 28 Dec 2010 08:52:56 AM
I only read about this site yesterday - I'm so pleased I'm not alone in my suffering with non mobile service for last 18 months. I'm on an unlimited plan - yeah, unlimited excuses and lack of service!!

I've had 7 replacement Blackberry's in 18 months - even got some from Optus just in case a couldn't believe the luck I was having!!

A typical call scenario example - from Melbourne CBD to home (my Blackberry Bold doesn't even get coverage in my office in Collins Street city!!). Sadly, I can pick the dropout spots and zones in Central Melbourne and East Melbourne - if it wasn't so farcical, we could make a new competition out of this - 1st prize.....Voda Mobile Contract paid out and a free Contract given from Telstra (now THAT's sad)

1. call business owner from car parked in central business district (Queen Street)
2. get the infamous "call failed" and loud beeping noise as call drops off in Market Street. I call back
3. Apologise for call drop off but everyone is used to my mobile calls dropping out (you must be with Vodafone or Three many people say)
4. Call drops off in Spencer Street North Melbourne (sometimes with excitement I see a different fail message "Congestion" - woohoo, this is a different sort of irritating excitement). Wait for 2 km's as reception comes good again. Call back (seeing I'm on "unlimited plan" I supposedly don't wear costs!)
5. Get onto Tulla Freeway...
6. Call drops off beside Moonee Valley - smack bang in the middle of a costly work conversation. Just for something different......I call back when I see the 3G connection (hands free of course Mr Constabulary)
7. Call back - warn them I'm approaching Essendon airport - another "hot zone". Call drops out mid sentence - DAMN, it got me early before Bell Street turnoff!!
8. Wait till Matthews Avenue to call back - should get a good 2 minutes into conversation before I'm talking to myself again....sometimes phone drops off without any sound...so I keep talking to myself not knowing the other end has dropped off!!
9. Melbourne airport.....(I live in Sunbury....lucky I have a landline cause I certainly can't count on mobile here) - yep, bye bye reception......
10. Well you get the gist......it's become quite a topic of conversation with business people and friends who laugh at how comical my mobile experiences are....

The only efficient service operating from Vodafone are from the Accounts Department - "Your account is now due".....

Would gladly add my call records to any action against this now pathetic mobile service provider - can't believe I just called them that!

6152 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very at 28 Dec 2010 08:34:51 AM
Here in the hilly suburb of Mount Waverley, i constantly have no 3G service meaning i cannot access mobile internet which makes my smartphone next to useless. I have told 3 this (i am a 3 customer), but all they do is open a map of their network coverage on the 3 website and say that i do have reception according to the map, therefore pretty much calling me a liar. Yesterday going to the MCG, i lost reception at Richmond of all places. Losing reception and waiting ten minutes for the phone to find it again is all too common, even in the Melbourne CBD. My GF's problems are much worse also. Not only did she get sold a dodgy N97 which 3 say is fine, i cant even talk to her on the phone anymore as it will just drop out no matter where we are.

Since Vodafone and 3 merged I have constant no service on my 3 handset until on the 22nd of December I had no service for the next 4 days. After speaking with customer service people in call centres overseas I was told that maybe the sim card or the phone was faulty. There is nothing wrong with the sim card or the phone. Read the paper the other day and saw the light Vodafail. My wife is with Telstra and have had excellent coverage and 3G.
28 Dec 2010 08:30:08 AM: My sister says exactly was told to her re the sim card and phone. She was on the phone from 8:30am to 10am. Still no closer to resolution.

Apart from the usual complaints about drop-outs, poor coverage etc, I left Vodafone for Virgin because of the treatment I recieved from customer service. I have been a Vodafone customer for nearly 10yrs on a $79 a month cap, and I have been wanting to up-grade to a Iphone for about 3 months. Everywhere I went customer service told me I couldn't up-grade at the moment, they were only dealing with new connections! Well vodafone, because of your attitude towards loyal customers, I have now cancelled my membership with you and gone elsewhere, and got myself a new Iphone to boot! P.S My wife wil be joining me in about two months when her contract concludes!

My sister was with 3 and moved to Vodafone around 3 weeks ago. Man, it's difficult to have a conversation on the phone when it KEEPS DROPPING OUT or her voice is totally unable to be understood. She has tried calling Vodafone with continual frustration when speaking to customer service - discussion keeps going around in circles - "we will investigate". She wants to get out of the contract but has been told it will cost her over $1k.

We just left voda phone (three) because of poor coverage for over 10 years only it seemed to get worse not better particularly in the last few months.

We also more recently had major issues with multiple text sending. The same text would be received by the one person several times. Each time would be charged. We complained for several months and the process was terrible. Not only did voda phone (three) fail to fix the problem, but communication was horrendous. On hold each time for nearly an hour, English as a second language issues, patronizing frustrating customer service methods and receiving a bill for cancellation after been told we wouldn't. Never again.

We were informed that vodafone would work at our house, we got home charged our phone and all looked great until we tried to make our first phone call after about 2 words it dropped out and we now have very little coverage if any at our house which has made things very difficult as we have 2 young children and who knows when you will need to make an emergency phone call.
It all has been a very costly exercise and one we will not be doing again

Recently aquired new HTC Desire HD on vodafone. I am a long time vodafone customer and have never had much of a reason to complain before. However the data speed is shocking...it takes quite a while for web pages to completely load, (if i actually let it load and don't kill the internet app). Most of the times i just give up and have to connect it to my wireless home network to get any decent speed out of it. Now I'm stuck with this non-service for the next 2 years...

6063 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Totally Fail at 28 Dec 2010 07:48:21 AM
Its a terrible network:
- Boxing Day @ the MCG, the Ashes series sponsored by VODAFONE, I had 'No Service' for about 4 hours
- Inbound calls go straight to voicemail when I appear to have full reception
- Voicemail messages taking hours to appear. At least that is better than 6 months ago when you didn't get any notification at all about voicemails
- Overseas - I've been to the UK, Singapore, Mauritius and Argentina in the past 16 months (with International roaming confirmed prior to departure) and each time my phone either hasn't worked properly or I've had 'No Service' despite my partners Telstra phone having no issues. Costly landline calls to "Lara" to resolve or lengthy email correspondence with sometimes no resolution.
- Internet access often not working as 'can't connect to server'
If I wasn't locked in for two years I would have left a long time ago.

I am not a big user of mobile phones and mostly use an IPhone for emails, Safari, checking on stocks, weather etc.
My observation over last year is a decline in Customer Service via phone and Instore where a problem or query arises. I was at Chadstone Shopping Centre on Boxing Day when there were thousands shopping the Vodafone Store had two, maybe three people attending to customers.
The same thing happened a few weeks earlier when I was at Chadstone at end of November 2010 on Black Friday. Many people trying to connect newly bought phones, only two attending to customers.

6049 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Frustratingly Failing at 28 Dec 2010 07:42:47 AM
My reception from home is almost non existent and YIP I signed up for a two year contract for almost $80 per month. If I stand in the right spot, holding my mouth in a certain position, occasionally the phone call may not drop out. Failing that, I can be found walking around the house waving my phone in the air with my three children 6,5 and 3 chasing after me- occasionally I can stand out in the middle of the road and HURRAH I might even get three bars reception. Not only am I paying $80 per month, I am also paying additional costs of calling from my landline, when I shouldn't have to use it at all. The reason I paid $80 per month is so that I could call NZ with my $550 credit that I should have access to. I recently complained to Vodafone who told me that Yes, I am in a low (NO!) reception area. This isn't what they told me when I signed my contract - they were more than happy for me to sign the dotted line, accepting a service they couldn't even provide. They have offered to reduce my monthly fee to $50 per month and waive my current month's bill or alternatively I can buy the handset for $450. What's the choice? I can't afford to buy the phone at this point so it looks like I am stuck with another 18 months of no reception and using only using the phone when I am out of the house. Go Vodafone.

My major complaint is the paucity of the network coverage. I'm a long term user of vodafone and value the service generally. For many years now the Vodafone shops have been promising much better coverage, extended service and most recently the linkage with Hutchinson promised coverage equivalent if not better than Telstra. It has not occurred!! Coverage is appalling.

I live 5kms from the city and my reception has fallen to an all time low. I have the 'call failed' message so many times now that I could just throw my iphone in to the bay! I complained to Vodafone that reception in my area had all but disappeared, but to no avail. Also just as infuriating is that every other server has improved their reception reach except for Vodafone. I can be just one hour out of Melbourne and have NO reception at all while friends on Telstra have full bars in the same place. Vodafone promised that they were going to have equal if not greater coverage than their competitors. They have not expanded for more than ten years.

I've been with Vodafone for several years now and never had much problem until about 12 months ago. Now the best reception I can get in my home in central Geelong is 1 or 2 bars, and as soon as you leave a metropolitan area you get nothing!! We have lots of family in the country and enjoy holidaying down the coast, and we have had to learn to give our relatives the phone number of someone we're staying with if they need to conact us. We are in Warracknabeal at the moment which is a reasonable sized country down but still nothing, and the people we're staying with are shocked as this is the first network they've heard of that doesn't work here. And I distinctly remember asking the salesgirl when I signed up for my new plan about coverage and she said it wouldn't be a problem. And that's just my mobile phone, don't even get me started on the piece of crap that is Vodafone mobile broadband.....the worst thing imaginable!! So glad this site exisits and hopefully it will make Vodaphone pull their finger out and do something before they lose a hell of a lots of very disgruntled customers!

I completely and utterly loathe the service of Vodafone but was attracted by the great prices..... BAD move. I have had numerous issues with this poor exceuse for a telecommunications company for years with signals dropping out, internet not working, phones being disconnected etc. The latest was outrageous and it has had a significant impact on my business. I had noticed that some of my clients hadn't been replying to my emails which I thought was odd so I rang them. Turns out that they didn't receive any emails at all. I rang Vodafone to find out what on earth was happening....... After numerous hours of hold, being handballed all over the place I spoke to a 'genius' who indicated that due to a technical error some of me emails weren't getting through to their destination.... I asked the gentleman on the other end of the phone how long this had been happening for and he originally dodged the question until I pressure him and he finally said 'Over two months'!!! I then proceeded to ask why customers weren't notified of this and what I was supposed to do to find out which emails were successful. His answer to the first questions was they would have to ring up to find out!! His answer to the second questions was that I should ring up ALL of the people I had spoken to to find out whether they had received the email. That is 2 months worth of emails!!!! Sure I have nothing better to do with my time. They said this problem would be rectified and that I would be notifed when it had. That is now over three months ago and I have still heard nothing... As such I have rerouted my emails so that they don't need to go through Vodafone. I am also refusing to pay any future bills from these idiots. For a telecommunications company they do anything BUT communicate, especially to their customers. I hope their business goes under in Australia.
Congrats to the guy who set this up. I had the same thoughts but was too consumed by rage and didn't want to spend any more of my time on them.

6000 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is very irritating at 28 Dec 2010 07:21:29 AM
Until today I thought delayed voicemail, no coverage in shopping centers, multiple failed mms', failed txt balance updates etc were all normal parts of the Vodafone service. I can't believe how used to these problems I had become! I guess it's just easier to accept them than to ring their call center to have the problems resolved. They are utterly hopeless.

I switched from 3 to Vodafone a few weeks ago due to being told how much better Vodafone is and that they have much better support. Well so far, I've only seen the opposite..! I can't get full reception (max of 2 bars) unless I am in the city, Internet browsing is compatible to dial-up speeds and the online services can't even tell me my useage..!
I want to get out; this has been a fail of epic proportions.

My wife an I both have vodafone accounts and we share a wirelss broadband again with Vodafone. Our wireless broadband is painfully slow and has not worked at all for six weeks. We now use our i-Phone for internet. My calls to Vodafone customer service have degenerated into shouting matches when the services representative tells me we have excellent coverage. It does not. We now refuse to pay our broadband account and will be happy to see them in court. I am now on holidays 200km west of melbourne and have absoulutely no phone reception while my sister who has Telstra gets better service than when I'm home in Geelong. Vodafon are a nightmare!

Have calls that just drop out. I am a 'volunteer' Vodafone customer in that I use pre-paid! Only because aI hate Telstra even more, but Vodafone got so bad recently that I tried to switch back to Telstra, however cancelled that after they spent eight days porting my number!! Have voicemails that arrive a day latere, SMS is hit and miss and calls just terminate in mid sentence, great for business.

5971 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No reception; no customer service. at 28 Dec 2010 07:04:26 AM
For nearly two years now I have suffered at the hands of Vodafone. I had been using Vodafone for a long time without too many problems, so I decided to get a new phone with them on a $29 cap contract (over 2 years), as the $29 caps had been doing me fine previously. Within a short couple of months of signing that contract Vodafone changed networks, and I was in dire straits. With the frustration of next-to-no reception and constant dropped calls, I feel that they were in breach of contract, as the contract I signed was for the previous network. I have attempted numerous times to sort out this problem. To cut a long story, the final straw was to be told that I could not contact the appropriate people by email, I had to phone them. They could not transfer me, I had to phone them! I tried to point out the irony: How can I phone them when I have no reception and/or the calls simply drop out? Their reply was, "Yes, I understand, but that is the only way we can help you." How much I loathe that "I understand"! I have now given up and am waiting for January 19 to finish the contract; it will be interesting to find out what their reaction is going to be when I demand that they unlock the phone because I am going elsewhere in the hope of receiving better customer service.

5963 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Premium Texts at 28 Dec 2010 07:01:39 AM
I have been recieving weather texts everyday (which are a premium service), and it costs me $10 per month. I have tried countless times to cancel these premium texts and I keep recieving them. I have tried to do this by calling the customer assistance number at least 20 times, and then I tried even going in store to cancel them. They told me that they cant do anything from the store, and that I need to call the customer assistance number. This has gone on for the last two years and I am still paying for and recieving texts I dont even want!
Also, the coverage is horrendous and the waiting times to get any kind of assistance over the phone are ridiculous (and when you do finally get onto someone, good luck if you can actually understand them)! Thank god I only have 5 months left on my contract, then it will be good riddance Vodafone!

5935 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 3 is no longer a magic number at 28 Dec 2010 06:45:45 AM
Moving from 3 to vodaphone my expectation was that the service would remain the same. Unfortunately this is not the case - Drop outs - poor 3G reception, constantly having to dicsconect my cellular network / reconnect my network - only to find that reception in the same location goes from none to full. I was a huge fan of the service that 3 and telstra offered - no so with vodaphone. Would never have started a vodaphone contract if i had the choice - will not be renewing mine either.

We tried to run an emergency business using three mobiles phone. Our calls would drop out when we were talking to clients. Sometimes we would have to call a person 5 times use to have a conversation. We lost business as calls went straight to message bank, We had to use our house phone to make calls
This service caused so many arguments between us that in the end i had to try to cancel our plans, spending hours going into the shop, hours on the phone to customer care, hours organising to send the phones back other wise you have to pay them out. Always write down times and ask customer care for a reference number.
Some one advised me to make sure i sent back the phones by registered mail because they will call to say they never received the mobiles back, sure enough two months later i still had a bill of $1.600 went through two hours of calls they started an investigation to see where the phones were i kept all the registered mail receipts and phone Aust post they told me when the phones arrived and the day the phones arrived , time and who signed it. With out providing them this information i am sure i would have been charged for phone i returned. We are now with Telstra and our service has never dropped out.

Been Vodafone customer for over 10 years. Recently bought a smartphone to be all modern & browse internet on the go, etc. There were some days where I was unable to access the internet for up to 8 hours at a time. I was moving around in different suburbs (going to work, etc), but it didn't matter where I was, the problem was the same.

Eventually I called Vodafone and was told there might be a problem with the APN settings in my phone. The call centre person talked me through the steps to fix it.

After that, my phone didn't access the internet AT ALL.

I had to go into a shop to get the settings fixed. That meant I was back where I started: with some days where I couldn't access the internet for hours.

Also, calls drop out quite often without reason. I originally thought I was using the smartphone wrong and accidentally hanging up the calls. I'm careful now. But calls still drop out.

Sometimes when I'm at home, SMSs can take hours to get to me.

28 Dec 2010 06:14:36 AM: P.S. (I forgot!)

Whenever I tried to call Vodafone about these problems, their call waiting time was often over 40 minutes (as per the recorded message at the start of the call). One time, that recorded message DIDN'T say a long wait time, so I thought I'd get through. I hung up after 40 minutes.

When I asked the person in the shop, she said it was because everyone wanted the new iPhone. (How does high demand for a new handset cause long wait times in the call queue to get internet problems fixed???)

5846 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is gradually getting worse at 28 Dec 2010 06:07:51 AM
I've been with Vodafail for YEARS and been satisfied until recently. Things have noticeably been on the slide. After receiving regular email bills & text reminders, suddenly they stopped. I'm starting to have drop outs too...strange! My contract finished in December '10, there was no reminder as expected. I spend time on the line with customer service & it's more challenging to feel confident that whatever my issue is will be resolved. I've lost a lot of faith. Now that my contract/s are up, I'm seriously going to consider moving to another company. I will deal with this today.

Almost every call I have, whether I commence or receive the call drops out after a very short time & then I cant get the person back - sometimes for hours, I often dont have service, I cant browse applications (they wont stay connected), delayed messages, failed mailbox, and the list goes on.

Worse, is the lack of customer service, waiting at times for up to 37 minutes before a person answers the phone, and then only to drop out before I can log my fault.

Hi All, About a year ago I was having problems with Threes internet service, it was slow and generaly unuseable. I fought and fought with them to get released from contract. After at least 20 phone call and 2 trips to Melbourne they offered me to go across to Vodafone without charge. Oh what a mistake. It has now been a year and so many drop outs and phone calls later, I final have just had enough. The worst part, I study online and had a MAJOR exam, yes you guest it the internet dropped out and I failed that Exam. That was the last straw. I have now been fighting for over 6 months and had so many technical support help calls so that i can just get out of this mess of a company. So many major problems later and I have finaly told them enough is enough. I have now been realeased from contract and have sent there usb stick back. I will not be paying any charges from them, I would love to look at sueing them for the loss of marks in my schooling. My advice, DO NOT GO NEAR THIS COMPANY!

A few days later we were able to send and receive txt msg's however they're delayed. If we drive about 2km down the road we our phones work again. This is proving to be quite dangerous as we have an 18month old and I am in the last stages of pregnancy, and god forbid I need to call a doctor or ambulance. It's like our house has fallen into a blackhole. We live right in the main section of our town too. I have driven down the road on a few occasions and tried to call but I do not have all day to sit on hold. Myn partner and I would both like to get out of our contracts without payment as this is NOT the 1st incident we have had with Vodafone, and let's be honest it won't be the last.

I was almost out of the contract, but then they asked for the iPhone back. I asked for the $240 I paid upfront for the phone but they did'nt want to budge. Vodafone were willing to give me the phone and weave 50% of the exit fee.

I explained to them, how can you charge me 50% of the exit fee when you are breaching contract by not providing me a service, they said we cant just give you a phone. I said to Vodafone, I dont even want the phone, I even offered them $120 for the phone they still would'nt budge, so basically just going around in circles.

I now have a case with the TIO so waiting on their respone and have also submitted interest with Piper Alderman who are handling the class action case.

I was using vodafone broadband internet (mobile). About June this year I started experiencing drop outs and couldn't reconnect. I then called customer service. This happened about 10 times before I got an Egyptian call centre who recommended that I return the modem for a refund! They gave up helping.
I then joined Crazy John. I was unaware that these guys used the Vodafone network. This time it was worse as I got a phone contract aswell. BIG MISTAKE! The problems started right away. 50 calls to custimer service and hundred of drop out or no coverage later Crazy John vodafone called me on Christams Eve admitting that I was in a Low Coverage area (postcode 3041) AND I was being rleased from my contract!! AVOID VODAFONE AVOID CRAZY JOHN. I was so angry that I passed a vodafone store full of people and yelled in there "Don't do it, don't join. These guys a liars and they provide S#!* service!" 5722 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is ENORMOUSLY FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 02:29:44 AM
I was one of those noisy customers who complained to the ombudsman. And was released from my 24 month contract with 23 months remaining. Still, this was no easy task. Initally my phone was set up incorrectly and the number only 1/2 ported. Not being the phone guru I can't supply full detail but I was left with no phone for about 48 hours. I did buy a telstra prepaid card to call "Lara" who told me too many times int he 45 min average on hold that I was important and my call would be answered shortly. Eventually that issue was sorted. - then my usb inter. net and phone reception went - same time, same day. More chats with Lara - only to be told eventually it must be my sim. Funny - 2 at once! More trips to the store where the staff just get to ring Lara.
This is a super abreviated version - It was too long and boring and orderal - but NEVER AGAIN VODAFONE. Note that my reception issues were in Port Melbourne. under 5 km from Melbourne CBD. At least I escaped!
28 Dec 2010 02:38:36 AM: unfortunately stories like this are long and could take up hours of writing... but this IS the place to air your grievances, I've been reading 100's of stories and I can finally say to myself 'at least I'm not alone anymore'. vodafone actually made me cry one morning, it made me feel sick.

5718 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Hopeless - total fail at 28 Dec 2010 02:25:19 AM
Thank you so so much for making this site. I have lost significant amounts of time and income, as well as having endured extreme frustration as a direct result of the unacceptably poor "service" provided by Vodafone. The call drop outs and lags in relaying voicemail and SMS is pathetic. My iPhone 4 (with a brand new Sim card - thank you very much!!!) is often reduced to an expensive brick because of Vodafone. It even drops out when you call the help line, and after a thirty minute wait on hold, no one calls you back. This is INEXCUSABLE for a gigantic company that is charging me over $100 per month! Let me know if a class action takes place, as I will be very interested in pursuing them.

5716 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is What coverage? at 28 Dec 2010 02:25:00 AM
Vodafone coverage is so poor that they should be required to warn all potential purchasers that they will receive only minimal coverage and service with this carrier. To suggest that Vodafone offers a service that works - even in sight of Melbourne CBD - is misleading conduct. Trying to deal with them to end my prepaid contract was joke, made harder by the call dropouts as they tried to convince me to stay.
28 Dec 2010 02:29:47 AM: They are cost cutting left right and centre. I live less then 15km from Brisbane CBD and I get 1 bar of signal at best... what is this vodafone, a third world country? get ya act together already!

5713 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is MEGAFAIL! at 28 Dec 2010 02:10:50 AM
1)Constant drop outs, often running into double digits PER HOUR!! 2)Periods where the phone is "locked out" ie no one can call me (goes straight to voicemail) and I cant call out, despite full reception - I shudder to think what I would do if that occurred during an emergency! 3)Catastrophically delayed relay of voicemail messages, sometimes by as much as 24 hours! 4)Constantly slow or completely ineffectual 3G services. 5)I have lost business, looked unprofessional in front of clients & been extremely inconvenienced by all this. All I get is ineptitude and the infuriatingly ineffectual Lara when I call to complain. What am I paying in excess of $100 a month for? I will leave and NEVER come back once my contract is done, and I am telling every client, associate, friend and family member just how pathetic and woeful Vodafone have become.

5698 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is So beyond extreme it hurts little kittens :( at 28 Dec 2010 01:42:58 AM
I was with Vodafone a few months ago, I barely ever had reception with 3G turned off, when I turned 3G on, I was lucky to even have a bar.

As soon as my contract was up I went over to Telstra and since then I've never been below 4 bars, both with 3G on and off.

I thought it was quite funny when Vodafone sent letters asking to resign with them before the contract term was up.

Purchased a brand new Nokia from Vodaphone 3-4 months ago -after giving my old phone away which was again Vodafone thinking its the phone that had the problem. Same problems. NOT JUST ME WITH THE NEW VODAFONE BUT MY HUSBAND AND MY DAUGHTER - HUNDREDS $$$$$ WE PAY EVERY MONTH. Thank goodness for this site but i doubt anyone will listen - talking to ourselves as usual - I guess it is better than having to wait for someone to answer the Vodafone customer service line - or maybe they cant hear it ringing due to reception they are experiencing - with the average waiting time we experienced is no less than 25 minutes... At least we know now its not our phones that have the problem and we can now change provider.
VERY DISAPPOINTED and Extremely angry - the least they could do is answer the phone and tell everyone they have issues - rather than have everyone suffer and pay. Good luck to all of us fools just write it all down and at least we now know - we are not alone...

5689 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 01:17:06 AM
I have vodafone prepaid. I have had several issues over the past 2 years, mostly in the last 6 months. these issues have included, but arent limited to: not receiving any texts for 48 hrs, then receiving them all at once, despite having reception the entire time, being able to send texts, and rebooting my phone; poor/no network coverage despite the fact i live very close to melbourne cbd; and the most annoying: one day i sent a text, then got a reply from my friend asking why i had sent multiple texts (about 6). this happened with others throughout the day - some texts going to the same person up to a dozen times. when i called vodafone to sort the issue out, they replied that they had network problems and were working to resolve it. when i asked if i was being charged for the multiple texts, they replied that i was, and that i would have to call them back once they have fixed the problem to (somehow) be reimbursed. i dont see why it should be MY responsibility to resolve this issue. a) HOW would i ever know when vodafone had resolved their internal issue?! and b) i DONT want to wait on hold AGAIN just to talk to a foreign operator who cannot understand me. i wasted a prepaid card that day. i have already been considering switching providers, and now after seeing how many others are disgruntled, i WILL be. POWER TO THE PEOPLE.

5688 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extremely poor customer service at 28 Dec 2010 01:15:40 AM
I guess I am a bit luckier than some of the people who wrote on this website.
What happen was I was 3 months away of finishing my contract in Dec 10. I called up Vodafone to ask them any special procedures to stop the service as soon as the contract ended. The first call I made, I have waited over 2 hours (Luck that I used the fixed line with hands free, otherwise I would have hang up in 30 mins. Then tried again and this time 45 mins with no success and I gave up. I then use the contact us (email) from their website to have them cancel my service as soon as my contract finish and make a complaint of their so called customer service. A week later someone from Vodafone contacted me regarding the email complaint and tried to sell me another contract quoting that they can give me a good deal (3 months free access, free "cheap phone", free delivery etc which all providers were offering the same or even better at that time). So I told her I rather go to 3 (now also own by Vodafone) at least 3 customer services pick up their calls in minutes or even less (surely will change in the future). Today, I am so happy to receive my very last bill. I am now with Virgin big cap $29, getting $450 and 200 MB and a free phone that Vodafone told me NO WAY they can give me that phone for free on a $29 cap plan!! By the way Virgin picks up my calls in less than 1 minute...tried few times to ensure I don't get myself into another trap!!
