26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I signed up to a 12 month contract for wireless internet, only to get no service at my house, which is near the CBD. What a joke! All calls to vodafone relate to a painful experience and a never ending merry-go-round!

I work in North Sydney and I don't get 3G most of the time, and when I do is slower than my dial up back home in Peru in 1998. Moreover, not only the data network is defective but also the mobile network (voice calls). My wife calls me during the day and most of the time it goes straight to voicemail. I tried calling myself and it only goes through after 3-6 attempts.
How crap is Vodafone? its absolute R.U.B.I.S.H.

Witnessed serious accident on Lakes Way near Forster on the weekend. Unable to get through using our phone with Vodafail on 000. Someone else who pulled over managed to call no problem through another provider. What happened to "Emergency Use Only"? Lucky nobody was in serious need of hospital attention...
30 Mar 2011 01:42:31 PM: sooner or later someone will end up DEAD and there will be blood on Vodafone's hands
30 Mar 2011 07:52:37 PM: "Emergency Use Only" is for 112, not 000. Did you try 112? Cause that number disregards the networks and jumps onto any tower in the area, worldwide.

Call reception is awesome, I've never dropped a call or had a late sms.

However - I can honestly say that in the 6 months i've been with voda, I have not been able to access the 3G part of the network. What is the point of having a smartphone if I can't use the internet or look at emails...?

I have an account with three/vodaphone with e billing. Today I received my bill through the e mail erver. When I wanted to watch and print the bill as I always do the 3 customer care the answer was "wrong pin" so I tried again.Same result . I didn't give up, entering my pin very carefully. Same result and a message stated that the account was blocked. It gave a phone number to call and guess what. After several tries with accessing the right connections I waspromised to speak to a customer care person. after a few garbled noise the call disconnected.
This happened 4 times and I still cannot find out how big the bill is. Stinks!

I finally worked out how to ring Australia. Guess what, they can't even get onto their own services. What hope have I got. All I want to do is activate my sims. Australia tried to ring to get me connected to the right department and cannot get on. This has taken me weeks and hours on the phone. When will the TIO and ACCC investigate this company seriously. They are not providing services they advertise and sell and take money for. COME ON.

Since last Friday, 25 March 2011, my Vodafone mobile broadband in North Sydney, postcode 2060 has been pretty much non-existent and is still down today, 29 March. Loads of phone calls to Vodafone and they've told me yes the network went down last Friday, momentarily there are glimmers of hope, "their network people don't work weekends !! "- unbelievable for a technology company. Simply put no end in site and I understand many adjacent areas of Sydney and NSW are all affected by this issue. I get extended days and more MB but what use is that when there is no network and no end in site to the problem !!!!!!!!!!

After months of complaints, calls dropping, being unable to retrieve emails (in Sydney CBD) and poor customer service being "promised" that towers will be built and the issues "fixed" by "end of March" I now find myself on 29th March 2011 with no service. Appalling. Oh and the bills are increasing so now I have to go back (once again) and negotiate why the capped rate they gave me of $120 pcm is still going over when I rarely use my mobile. They are the WORST I can't wait to leave them in September when the contract expires - I speak on behalf of 3 friends in the same position.

Left them recently when calls kept dropping out in the city all the time (basic service from a mobile company) not to mention the data on my phone. I could never use it or connect. The worse mobile service. I can't believe that the ACCC allows them to continue advertising at all!! Surely this must be illegal to take cash for a service that doesn't live up to customers' expectations. Atrocious!!!!

I signed up for a $29 cap last year with a HTC Magic. They told me it could do Exchange email but it couldn't. Then they pushed out an update to Android 2.2 after 6 months which allowed me to use email but the phone lags so bad, it takes forever to even type a message. I asked them to cancel my old plan and give me a new one.
After 2 hours on the phone with customer service, they let me cancel the old one for $350 and put me on a new contract with a new phone. I only hope reception and network speeds will get better..

Can't sort out my service issues (unusable slow data, inconsistent reception and call drop outs) cause tech team says nothing is wrong... even though i have screenshot evidence which they don't take into account... only their own investigation. Basically vodafone customer service thinks I'm full of s*** cause tech team investigation says nothing is wrong... and no point trying to argue with tech team guys... they are always right! Been getting ripped off for months and they want me to pay cancellation fees to get out of the contract. I've had enough... I just hope I can resolve matter by going through ombudsman and or ACCC.

I wasn't able to receive a lot of my friends' call since I joined Vodafone last June. I've been dealing with their customer service for over a month; spoken to two team leaders; lodged complaint twice to TIO. They can't fix the connection problem and they never apologies for their service. The resolution they have is to end of my contract but I have to pay for the remaining charges on my handset. I suggested an alternative by returning the handset and avoiding the charge but they denied it. Their resolution team was being rude in saying:"It's up to you now. This is our best offer!" Shame on you Vodafone!

16411 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Taking the piss at 24 Mar 2011 11:33:11 AM
Vodafone changed the cap plans in July last year and they are available to all customers - if you know about it, and if you know they are available to all customers.
Was told that it would be too hard to tell customers...
Since I am two days past my billing date, my change can of course only be made in a month...
Just complained and spoke to an ultra rude staff person (who i could barely understand). I was told that my complaint would be put in my account notes...wicked.
I was going to complain about the fact that i don't get internet, and often don't get mobile coverage in Bondi, but there is no point. Vodafone just sucks, plain and simple...every little aspect of vodafone can derilict my balls.
Never again.

16405 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is UPDATE on ProRata Billing at 24 Mar 2011 05:08:04 AM
I recently posted a notice re pro-rata billing carried out by Voda. Well after lodging matter with TIO they rang back ... turns out they claim they arrived at the amount billed for 6 days of a billing cycle by dividing the monthly amount by 28!!! Why I asked? No answer!! Standard business practice is to multiply monthly rates by 12 (to get annual rate) then divide by 365 to get a daily rate...but not these kings of rip-off and spin. When pressed I asked why they chose 28 and not 31 (as the pro-rata days occurred in March which has 31 days) ... well we just use 28 was the answer. Please point me to where it notifies me of that in your Terms and Conditions "I can't" and then "It doesn't".
This bunch of cowboys are SIMPLY DISHONEST. So ... how many millions are they stealing each year through millions of subs via this slight-of-hand????
24 Mar 2011 08:58:29 AM: in addition to obvous rip-offs (i.e. not providing internet/phone communications as advertised), Vodafone also rip ppl off in more subtle ways, under the belief that no one will notice.

thanks for sharing that... add it to the list of vodascams.

Hi, it is even painful having to explain all the issues. I have been with Vodafone for 7 months. One of the months I was overseas for real, the rest seem like I was anyway by not getting any service. I was so excited to have my iPhone... Now I can't hardly use it except for certain calls and sometimes data. If I am able to connect to the Internet it takes ages to open a page! Sometimes I don't get messages or calls and sometimes I can't make calls. It is terribly frustrating because besides all the issues I pay my bills on time. I relly would like to know how to get out of it. I have called them many times to report the issues and they say they will call back and they never do! Very disappointing...

I brought with me an iPhone 3GS from Ireland to Australia as part of my migration. Initially the speeds were great out near Casula and Liverpool about 4 months ago. Since returning to Australia in late February, I've been beset with awful data speeds, (<0.20 Mbps) and constant timeouts and connection failures, not to mention the frustration of dropped calls and texts arriving hours late.

Managed to get the iPhone unlocked by contacting Vodafone Ireland, who are actually incredibly reliable, very pleasant and have the best network in the country. Cannot believe the Vodafone brand is so awful here. Porting to Telstra as soon as I use up my credit. (Not data; that would take years)

I use my galaxy tablet regularly, and mainly use it with data. Lately, around where i live, i receive absolutely no data at all!! all i get is an error saying network error no matter what i do, web browsing, rss feeds or games that require data. This is the same with my phone. All it shows is half a set of bars in HSPDA mode. On my way to work is the same, at least 50-60% of the time i can never get a reasonable data coverage, i end up waiting almost my whole trip.

I was assured by Vodafone that my number would be ported in 3 hours, midday last Thursday. Getting this set up took 2 hours on the phone.

Later that evening, I checked, and my number hadn't been ported. So, I waited a few days (mostly because I'm too busy to set aside time during the day to call customer support).

Today, I called again to ask what was happening. The port, they said, had failed, although they never contacted me to let me know why. It turns out that, despite being assured that my name would be used for the port so that it would match the one on file at Virgin, the primary account holder's name (a family member) was used instead. They didn't match, so the port failed.

According to several representatives and their supervisors at the call centres, Vodafone is *incapable* of rectifying this situation from their end. First they tried to insist that they couldn't due to the terms of the TIO (utter crap), and then admitted that they simply hadn't built the capability into their systems.

So, Vodafone can't handle the idea of one billing account shared by several customers.

Their proposed solution? Call Virgin and get them to change the details on my account over there. Because that makes sense, right?

-- a very frustrated new customer, who wishes he'd signed a contract with anyone else right now.

16365 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Comedy of Errors at 21 Mar 2011 12:23:18 PM
Just got off the phone after 45 minutes with tech support.
The Problem: phone wont make or receive calls for the past 24 hrs so it has stopped functioning as a phone.
The Phone: HTC HD Desire
After restarting, removing sim, replacing sim, dialing numbers, dialing special numbers, being put on hold to reset some settings. No luck still wont work.
Tech guy asks me to place sim in another handset, as luck would have it, I had a basic Nokia in the car, so basic it has a monochrome screen (Grandma's phone that the kids borrow).
Insert the sim in Grandma's phone and can place calls fine. Tech tells me to take phone to Vodafone store to be sent away for repair. So after 45 minutes i have to take my 2 month old phone for repair ?
After i get off the phone to tech guy i start thinking Grandma's Nokia is solely GSM.
Ok so after placing sim back in HTC, search through settings and select GSM only
Would you believe it makes & receive calls perfectly. At the same time my wife is having trouble with her blackberry on vodafone, although we kept suggesting that it was a network problem in the area to the tech. Selected GSM or 2G mode on the wife's blackberry and Wouldn't you know it she can now make & receive calls perfectly.
Wouldn't vodafone tech guys question the type of handset you are testing the sim in and be very aware of the 3G and 2G differences thus you need a similar phone for a level playing field ?
21 Mar 2011 11:46:33 PM: Vodafone tried to blame their network faults on my phone as well. It's not your brand new phone that works with any other network. It is their system. To get a result you need to complain to the telecommunications ombudsmen, then they will listen and sort out your issue.

In the past 4 days alone, I have sent over 20 SMS messages FROM vodafone TO vodafone phones (my girlfriend) , 10 of them side by side (as in, with both phones in my hands to be sure my girl wasnt just ignoring me ;-) ) and the messages are NOT delayed, THEY DONT ARRIVE AT ALL, EVER! This is a blatant violation of my contract, as they charge me for the lost text messages every month, rest assured. This has been intermittent over 12 months so I know its not my fault / handset like Vodafone probably think...

Trying to void my contract now, as they have long done it to me.

I just transferred over from 3 Mobile Broadband to Vodafone Mobile Broadband thanks to their wonderful offer of $59 a month and 16 gig data download limit. Sure, that's a great offer being double the data limit I had with 3, but what the dogs testicles is the use when I'm only getting 2Mbs download speed and the damn thing keeps dropping out EVERY MINUTE. Mind you, the bars are coming up as full strength too.. Not only am I thinking about ending this deal before it's even started, I'm also thinking about mailing this modem back to them in a box right next to an enormous turd from my anus.

I am not sure whether this relates to being on the Vodafone network, or whether I have an iPhone, or a combination of both. For the past 8 years I have been able to send messages to my sister in New Zealand. Immediately after changing to Vodafone I have only been able to send her a SMS once. I have confirmed with her that her phone and network are working perfectly. I also receive delayed message replies from friends, sometimes as late as 11 hours later. Vodafone has until the end of this week (tech support is investigating) to come up with a solution or I'm switching. Is Optus any good?

I have been with Vodafail for about 10 years and I am coming towards the end of my contract now. In an attempt to see what Vodafail could provide me as a loyal customer I went shopping around for contracts yesterday in Sydney's Chatswood. I had an awesome customer service rep at the Chatswood Westfield store, but he did not have the phone I wanted but located it in the Chatswood Chase store. This is where the good service ends. I got married two years ago. After giving Vodafail my marriage certificate in person SEVERAL TIMES they could still not manage to change my details over. To the fuckwits working at the Chatswood Chase store who looked at me like I was wasting their time and who could not make a phone call to see what you could do for me despite my drivers licence number, medicare card number and address being exactly the same, a massive FARK YOU. To the cow who could not have been any less interested in helping me at the Chatswood Victoria Avenue store, FARK YOU also and rolling your eyes at me and my husband is not really helpful. Glad I found this site, my iPhone will be will Telstra once my contract with your shitful company comes to a close on the 31st of March.
20 Mar 2011 11:12:31 AM: A word of caution, you must cancel your service with Vodafone otherwise it just rolls on, the contract, in effect, never ceases until agreed by both parties.

Time for 1555 prior to 31/3/11, take a packed lunch and plenty of water.

Make sure you get the reference number of the call plus the caller id and confirmation that all direct debits are cancelled, then watch your bank account at the next billing cycle to ensure all is good.

I am getting terrible reception, calls going straight to messagebank regardless of where I am and phone giving error messages and then freezing for up to half an hour. Oh yeah did I mention that I am pregnant and obviously need to be able to reach husband/family/hospital!!! Tried to call Vodafone, on hold for ages, advised long delays and to call back another time. Sent email request, got indian call centre, got attitude from indian call centre when they asked what location am I having problems at. I advised ITS A MOBILE so everywhere and they ripped it at me. I told them I was going to ombudsman and terminated the call! GRRR!

16345 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic random disconnection! at 18 Mar 2011 09:05:51 PM
My phone was randomly disconnected on a Friday lunchtime. I had to wait until after work to call after which I was told my phone had been disconnected 3mths earlier. This was an initial disconndection they had to do in order to resotre it after my 365 day credit had expired by a month. So after explaining I had the phone for 3 months and just recharged it the other day they realised it was a system fault and said I had to buy a new sim card! I had to registed this one and they said 'within 48 working hours' it would be reconnected to my old number. After which I could call and have the credit I had just recharged with 'compensated' back to me. "Compensated?" you mean, refunded! I asked them why I had to call again and couldn't they put the credit on it now? Of course, why couldn't they think of this themselves? After speaking with several people (Manoj Singh, Glenson & managers Wilson and Furqan Mir) I was told they couldn't budge on the 48 hr rule as the team who connects the numbers doesn't work weekends. Why did they disconnect me on a Friday then?! I have to wait effectively 4 days. And they are the ones that should have identified the fault and done what they needed to fix it. Epic Vodafail.
Did I mention this is the second problem I have had with reconnection??

16343 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Reception Issue at 17 Mar 2011 01:40:14 PM
I am Resident of Lugarno NSW 2210 and have been a vodafone customer for some years. Over the past 2 weeks, reception for my iPad and iPhone have dropped dramatically to the point where it is impossible to use the Internet regularly as the reception is either poor or non-existant. Is there any reason for this that anyone is aware of and if so, will it be fixed? If not, I will have no choice to switch to another carrier - not something I want to do but will be forced to do if not corrected.

Ignoring the fact I couldn't make or receive calls all weekend because of a "network issue" and everything was going straight to voicemail, I have now been waiting 3 weeks for my iphone 4 which was meant to arrive in 5 days and every time I call to follow up the phone, what do you know...the order has miraculously been stuffed up and the phone hasn't been ordered AGAIN....apparently now they are doing an urgent manual order which should arrive tomorrow. Funny I was told the same thing last week except it was going to take a few more days "because of a public holiday in Tasmania" when I LIVE IN NSW!!!!!!!!!!!!!

16340 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic at 17 Mar 2011 10:01:54 AM
About to call vodafone again due to the usual ridiculous number of standard call drop-outs that I have. I have already submitted a request for what vodafone define as a "technical investigation" so that they may understand why my service is so bad. At the end of this process, it is hoped that I can break my contract due to the service I signed up for not being provided. I have tried everything from switching data off, changing to GSM, changing SIMs, changing phones (the current count is five phones across three different manufacturers) - all to no avail. My wife is also with vodafone and has the same challenges. What's worse, I can see multiple towers around us (Lane Cove). An average work call for me will drop out at least four times. My call logs reflect this. Data is also particularly sub-optimal. Bills are average too. Grrrr... A.S.
22 Mar 2011 07:39:59 PM: There must be something wrong as we are also in lane cove and have no problems

16339 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Data Fail Very very slow at 17 Mar 2011 09:53:32 AM
I got a gift; new iPhone 4 for Christmas and was initially happy with Vodaphone years ago. But found out that Vodafone and Three has one of the slowest data when it comes to the 'free' & unlimited facebook & Twitter. Same as most other complains; full signal but slow data updates/upload/downloads. Definitely something wrong with their interface to the net as they belatedly admitted. They should be upgrading/fixing these problems sooner than later; as in NOW otherwise customers in droves would just go away... I am.

I cancelled my contract a montb ago all fees waved except februarys bill. I recieve two texts and an email stating $1117.16 is to be paid on the first of April. I had agreed to send the handset back and pay the bill to wave all fee's...

Calling customer care the man on the phpne (on my fourth try of being hung ip on) tells me that their cal director sent me to the wrong place so I am placed on hold for another 30 mimutes. FINALLY, get through to someone and explain my situation.. Apparently they have to request to see if the handset I sent back actually reached vodafone! WHAT THE FUCK??? SHOULDN'T OF THIS BEEN DONE IMMEDIATELY ON ARRIVAL TO AVOID THESE TYPES OF SITUATIONS FAR OUT VODAFONE YOU HAVE 5 DAYS TO CALL ME BACK LIKE PROMISED OR I AM RINGING THE TIO! I AM NOT PAYING $1117 TO YOUR SHITTY TELECO COMPANY WHEN YOU ROBBED ME $79 A MONTH FOR A YEAR!
17 Mar 2011 12:59:33 AM: Did they send an envelope to you to return the handset?

Do you still have the tracking label? if so check with Aus Post to ensure it arrived.

But agree, the TIO may be your only solution.

16330 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 23 monthjs 26 days and counting at 16 Mar 2011 09:28:45 PM
Have had nothing but problems with Vodafone since I signed with them. Thankfully I will be off contract on 21 March 2011. Thought it was worth asking for a refund or, if they want any money, a replacement handset.

I was told by a vodafone staff member "you're now off contract, you can resign and we'll give you a free upgrade." My response was no, clearly you're still obliged to look after me for the next 5 days or I will persue my complaint through the telecommunications Ombudsman and/or the Piper Alderman class action. They later conceded that I was still within my contract period, and that the blackberry had 2 years warranty and that I had insurance which should cover all this. They weren't interested in helping me.

I got onto customer care, ended up on hold for 20 minutes, only to be put on hold several more times by someone in a Bombay call centre. I started the call at 6:05 pm, requested to talk to the Cancellations Team and was advised that there was a very long waiting time but they should be able to call me back within the next 3 days... These people are worse than white goods sales people! You just be at home and wait for us to give you a call. "We won't commit to any time or place...".

I walked away in disgust at 7:30 pm, Sydney time. Their cancellation team is meant to be open between 8am and 8pm and no one was available to take my call.

Telecommunications Ombudsman here I come...

p.s. The blackberry storm is a piece of junk. This product should have been recalled knowing that it was not fit for purpose.

My last bill was dated 7 DAYS ago and SAYS I am in credit and DO NOT PAY.
So Vodafone are now sending my details on to Debt collectors and sending me different bills to what they send them.
And NRG when I called them the delay on the calls is terrible - so slow.. and so I called vodafone and of course.. Im put on hold !
On top of dropped calls and bad data connections - this is the last straw....

16309 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is as fail as you can get at 15 Mar 2011 02:02:27 PM
I originally signed up with vodafail in 2009 with a contract on a Blackberry Storm, I had huge coverage issues and was told by the Vodafail store that it was the phone. I paid it out (big bucks) and resigned for 24 months with a Galaxy S as I was told this would solve my problems. It made no difference. In frustration I called 'Mumbai' and after what seemed like hours of argument cancelled my contract and had them release my number. I run my business off my mobile and over the time I know I have lost some serious money over this. I now have received a bill for $1376 for an early termination fee. I have been given no consideration that I was forced into the cancellation action and after another frustrating day with 'Mumbai' told them I'd see them in court. I have no intention of paying this bill. This company is possibly the worst for communication and understanding that I have ever encountered. They are not getting another cent out of me.

16307 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 15 Mar 2011 01:44:51 PM
On a business account, and calls are dropping out, and client e-mails taking an age to download (sometimes up to 15mins). Rang Vodafail while out on lunch, in the MLC Center in Sydney, almost no reception in the center of our biggest city. Returned to work, and had three dropped calls while waiting, and in total spent 2 hours waiting to get to a lady who said they would not release me from my contract as my residential address is in an area that will be upgraded next month and that is my "nominated area of usage". I never nominated any area, and the whole idea of being mobile is exactly that, otherwise I'd be working with a land line all day.

My second issue was one where I had a broadband USB key plan. Zero reception in Crows Nest, Sydney. Got out of that contract and signed up for a new plan and an iPhone as a solution for mobile e-mail access. Vodafail said they would send a box for the USB key to be packed in to be returned. They never sent the box. A year later when I was with my phone provider checking sometyhing else, he looked at my account, adn they were still charging me for the USB key and full plan, even though he had notified them to cancel the plan 12 months earlier. They had this noted on the system, but wouldn't give me a refund as they said it was my fault for not checking my bills. I work for myself, so have a direct debit set up, all paper work goes to my accountant. After a lot of arguing, they agreed to refund 50%, through a credit on the account.

This company are a joke, and I cannot wait to be free of them.

I have had to contact Vodaphone every month since they changed me to email bill bc I don't get a bill. They have checked my email address dozens of times and still I don't receive my bill. They say they will post a hard copy instead and I haven't receive these either. Every time I call It takes 15 mins for someone to answer. I paid my bill at the post office so I have been back to poffice twice to fix it. And Vodaphone still say it's missing. One person I at Vodaphone says it wasn't allocated to my account and was going to fix it now I call back and they say again they didn't get it at all. They sent me a message saying they are going to bar my phone bc I haven't given my new address but I haven't changed it or my email!!!!!! Once again this month I didn't get my bill so back on the phone for the same conversations same questions blah blah nothing gets fixed . I'm suck of wasting my time and effort !!!!!

16301 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is sms problems at 15 Mar 2011 08:31:44 AM
Since I've been switched from "3" to Voda I have to walk about outside my house until the reception is sufficient to send an sms. I can't wander about outside all day just in case someone sends me an sms! New base station electronics won't improve reception, the coverage pattern will not change, Voda needs more towers and aerials. If they were serious about solving their immediate problems they'd change the "roamimg" threshold on their customers phones so that they stay "roaming" until a useable/reliable Voda signal is obtained. Analysing the "roaming" bill will identify areas that need more coverage. Building a new "850" network won't help existing customers whose 'phones can't use the 850 band.

I have tried calling customer service from my phone (1555) and you wait on hold for about 5 minutes and you get hung up on. Call the customer service line and an american speaking person tells you to hold.....then it tells you they are experiencing higher than normal call volumes and it hangs up on you...

I run a small business with 15 users all connected to Vodafone. We have been loyal customers since 1998 growing from one phone to now 15. My CFO has been instructed to get out of our contract as soon as possible. I am not normally one to complain however, spent 15 minutes last night trying to re-dial a phone number. I am on my phone constantly for an hour per day at least while travelling (and on hands free). I would have at least 10 dropouts per day which is ludicrous, yet alone frustrating. My friends on other networks do NOT have this problem.

I am changing and I have had enough.

In my opinion, Vodafone need to communicate to every customer or in my opinion they risk losing their business.

If I treated my customers the way they treat me, I would not have any left!

Since July 2010 (last year), I have asked Vodafone numerous of times to look into my street as I'am constantly getting 2G & 3G drop-outs regardless number of bars on my phone.

They have created an incident ticket and always get no response.
Everytime I request for a feedback on the ticket, they keep blaming their system in not receiving my PIN/Customer deails etc.
To me, this is a way for them to buy time.

2G Drop Outs (my phone is permantly set to 2G)
If I try 3G is even worse.
Outside of my area, I'm quiet fine and stable on 2G.

I don't mind Vodafone but they need to listen and act promptly.

I am a first time complainant. It started months ago, with text messages being received 3 days after they were sent. Last weekend, I was in the country (Portland, near Bathurst) - no reception. Today, at 3:15pm was expecting a call for a job interview. No call received. Called them at 3:50pm - they had been calling my number (they had the right number) and my phone has not rung, there is record of missed calls nor any record of voicemail .. the caller said that she called 3 times, and the calls did not divert to voicemail. Rang customer service - INDIA - informed me that number was diverted to 'another number' which I do not know the number and have not diverted my calls. Now I'm worried that people are calling me - and my phone is not working/ringing! I have decided to not pay my latest Vodafone bill as I am not satisfied with the 'service'.

I have been a loyal customer with vodafone for over 7 years now, having multiple phone contracts and mobile broadband accounts over the years.

My account number is 218955903

I have recently recieved a new iphone 4 and renewed my contract for another 12 months.. hoping this would fix the multitude of problems ive been facing over the last 6 months. These include dropped calls, no service, customer service won't help with the complaint, and worst of all the potential loss of business due to poor reception and dropped calls.

I run my own electrical contracting bussiness in the sydney cbd and metro area but am finding it EXTREMELY DIFFICULT! to do so as every second call drops out to prospective clients, and more often then not i get voicemails from clients that have been unable to get through. This being due to poor service in the middle of sydney!!

The internet speeds make it pretty much useless to complete anything on the phone, as now i dont even bother.

The Phone i am using cannot be the problem as it is brand new with a new sim card and i have friends on the same plan who have full reception and not a problem.

I have contacted customer support numerous times only to be put on hold and transfered over and over again for an hour each time.. with no success!! I have logged a complaint with vodafone and am unfortunatly looking to cancel my contract with them and switch to a new service provider.

This is costing me a fortune in lost bussines!

Re: Network Feedback Response

For the third day in a row - I have been unable to make a phone call , send or receive text messages or access the internet from my phone. The problem starts when i wake up in Penrith and persists thru the day at Parramatta.

About the only time my network works is for periods of about 15 seconds after i make a call if i can get thru after seven attempts or at around 2:30 for about 4 minutes.

This is my third email in 2 days to customer service. Please do not email me your unable to reach me on my mobile number... when i have given you the details as well as three landlines.

Getting them 5 hours after you sent them make me so cross, its insulting.

I wrote yesterday and was emailed this morning that the problem could not be fixed as i didn't include my phone number.

I popped out for lunch and received 4 text messages three hours late, these were people I was trying to arrange to meet for lunch that i had texted at 9 am.

I have checked on your website for network disruptions... supposedly none in my area today. my phone shows full service, and 3G.

I am two metres away from a person who is having no difficulty whatsoever.

I tried to call 1555. My phone wouldn't connect.

I called your 1300 number where it wouldn't accept my voice commands from a landline at my work. Then after putting in the options via keypad - i was put thru to someone who had such a thick Indian accent - not only could they not understand what I was saying... Ironically What i was asking for was an English speaking person as i couldn't understand them.

After several minutes of being asked for all the details i had already entered, I was told there is no problems with coverage.

Yet i can still not send a text or access the net and have to make 7 attempt's before i can put thru a local phone call.

Vodafail - you are a Joke.

Please don't say it is an issue with my handset - I put in another carriers sim and i have full service.

MY PHONE NUMBER IS XXXXXXXXXX.

As soon as my credit runs out this month I'm going to another carrier and reporting vodaphone to the telecommunications ombudsman.

Another ANGRY ANGRY ANGRY vodaphone customer loyal for 10 years and seriously over it.

Giving up.

I am so sick of my vodaphone constantly dropping out.

I will be

a) joining the class action against Vodaphone

b) informing the Telecommunications ombudsman

c) Changing networks ASAP when my credit expires.

I'm over it. I'm standing next to people in a foyer who have full service. I'm in an urban centre location which has supposedly already been upgraded.

I look on your "reported problems" site and it says that 3G was down for 20 mins in my area.

I get voicemail messages two days late, half the phonecalls I get don't even register, and now i can't even send a txt! I have called customer support now on 28 occasions in the last 3 months and am told - they don't have a complaint section to take down my concerns.

I have been a loyal vodaphone customer for 10 years, however I have not been able to make the most basic phonecall or text message or access the internet for 4.5 hours now and this has become a daily occurrence. My Mobile No is XXXXXXXXXXXX

Over it... you want my custom - you have 2 hours before i finish work and get myself to optus or Telstra to tell me what you are going to offer me to stay.

16236 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad but got it sorted!! at 10 Mar 2011 09:11:42 AM
I have had the same issues as many others. I live in Central Met Sydney and was having my phone drop out or only one bar. Texts coming late and just not receiving calls etc. Poor service and phone drop out were the main issue.

I called up to get out of contract. I had just put up with the crap service etc and hadn't reported so they did ask me about that. I just said just because I hadn't called them or documented every time it happened it didn't mean I hadn't been having issues. I was bounced around a bunch of times. First I got told if I wanted to know anything about my account they couldn't help as their computer wasn't working and got told to call back in an hour. Second time I said hello to them and that I wanted to cancel and the call dropped/they hung up. Third time they said they would charge me 12 x $79 as cancellation fee (remaining time on 24month contract). I said this is unacceptable and asked to speak to supervisor. They said none were on and that they would get a supervisor to call in next three to four hours. Didn't receive call.
I called back next day (today) and spoke to them again and they consulted with their supervisor. They said they would waive three months and I said that does not assist me if they coverage is crap etc and due to my work (in emergency services) I require my mobile to work at all times as a matter of urgency/priority. More discussions and then they finally agreed to let me cancel my contract and waive the $1000 fee. If i wanted to keep my phone I would have had to pay for it. I said no, so I need to send it back. They said I can port to telstra anytime now. They said they will send me an envelope and instructions to send back my phone. Once they have the phone back in their warehouse they will waive the fees.
Job done.
Good luck everyone.
Just remember to document if you can (take photo of the screen if possible when phone drops out, times dates etc), call them and complain if you are having issues so they have a log, and if you want to cancel explain how phone use for you is a needed as a matter of priority (eg if you in emergency services and need phone to save lives etc). Good luck!

16228 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 9 Mar 2011 07:28:52 PM
webpages take ages to load. for example. take this website, i took around 2-3 minutes to get this page loaded and another 2 mins to come to where im at now. no 3g reception at all even though i live in the city. sounds like epic fail. maybe all the buildings block off my internet reception. im still not happy at all at the way vodaphony is treating their customers. im switching after my mobile broadband term is up.

I changed from pre paid to post paid on 27 December 2010 - I was supposed to be on a 12 month 45 infinate plan with $25 per month for Nokia n8. I was promised a three month waiver of the $45 and a discount of 10% for the 12 months on the $25 amount.
This has then been my experience:
1. First three days (including my birthday unable to receive calls
2. Rang vodaphone 6 times to get message bank set up over a weeks period
3. Spent between 45 - 1 hour on hold each time I tried to contact.
4. Phone "bricked" itself and I had to return it
5. First bill - no discount for $45 charge - contact call centre took 3 attempts as over 1 hours hold time
6. Finally got on to consultant who cant help, finally get a supervisor who says she has fixed it and sends an email (10 Jan) assuring me the $45 discount and 10% will be applied from now on.
7. Next bill - no discount - hours again getting on to consultant who said it was fixed and would show on next bill
8. Next Bill - no $45 discount caled again and spoke to supervisor who assures me it is fixed and I will not have to call again
9.Called TIO and lodged complaint
10. Try to use vodaphone music stre on N8 tracks do not download - contact vodafhone and get told nokia n8 not compatable with the vodaphone store, consultant checks account and says I wont be charged for tracks.
11. Called by vodafone in response to TIO complaint 2 days ago, woman quite snappy and says it has been fixed and I will not have to call again
12. Today - get new bill and 45 credit has been applied however now 10% discount has fallen off. Also have been charged for vodaphone music store tracks that did not download
13 Call vodaphone and speak to supervisor who tells me he is in melbourne billing - looks at account and agrees the 10% has not been applied and says it will happen next month as will music refund- I ask for something in writing as this has been promised so many times before and he refuses. ask to speak to someone higher up and get transfered without warning or introduction to a customer complaints electronic service
14. Call back and request to get back to supervisor I was speaking to and get told they cannot transfer calls internally and also tells me there is no billing department in melbourne. Also says there is no internal staff directory for vodaphone
15. burst into tears of frustration and Go back to TIO

16216 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very! at 9 Mar 2011 12:07:32 PM
Just resigned with Vodaphone 3 months ago, the first 3 days could make calls but not recieve them now constant drop outs, slow data (sometimes not working at all), sometimes can't call out as reception fluctuates and am constantly being told by people that they cant contact me and it says its unavailable or off! My partner is having the same problems and after countless calls to Vodaphone & visits to the stores there is NO resolution! Customer care says go to a store & the stores say it must be dealt with customer care! When I call someone I might have to call 4 times as it constantly drops out, why should I pay for a service that i'm not getting? I use this phone for work and so does my partner, who is going to pay for the work lost because clients/customers cant contact us?! And now i'm stuck with this for 24 months?

16198 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Everything at 8 Mar 2011 01:52:41 PM
1. Had issues transfering my number to vodaphone when I joined on 9th Feb
2. It then wasn't linked to the plan I had taken out
3. After 8hrs with no phone, it started to work, by no internet
So, called up again and after a day it started to work
4. Everything seemed to work - despite being very slow.
5. Today I got a text saying my bill was $121!!!!!! Which is suprising considering my phone as been actually working for all of 4 days.
6. I was told by customer centre they couldn't do anything until my bill was generated in 4-5 days - I'm expecting a call back on the 11th...........
7. On top of this I raised a complaint back 18/2 but still not heard a response........... Going round in circles - wish I'd stayed on my old phone.

16190 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Massively FAIL at 8 Mar 2011 10:43:14 AM
I normally have Vodafone reception dropping in and out, especially 3G. But I normally have at least 2G reception.

Today, my reception has been terrible. I couldn't count on my hands and toes the amount of times today that I've seen "Could not activate cellular date network" come up on my iPhone!

Very frustrating.
