Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

8626 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor customer service line at 29 Dec 2010 05:28:48 PM
I called the customer service line at 7:45pm one evening from my home phone to complain about not being able to send or forward emails. My call was answered just before 8pm. My personal details were called up on the service screen. Just as I was about to verify my password the phone line dropped out. How can a landline drop out? I immediately called back but was greeted by a recorded message which advised that this department was closed for the day and that I should call back tomorrow. My strong suspicions are that my call was going to take some time to resolve and that it was already past closing time, so my call was terminated on purpose. This was frustrating.
My immediate thoughts were that the customer service department operator would call me back, after all they had my details on the screen in fronton them. I have three mobile phone numbers with Vodafone, they have my home phone number, SMS, and email details. I received no return reply that night. That night I sent an email stating exactly what I thought of of their Customer Service Help line. The next day I received an automated email advising that there was an
unresolved issue in their system and if I would like to call back to complete the enquiry. I never called back and I still have the same problem. When my contract expires I will be "shopping around" for another phone company preferably one that provides customer service when I need it ..... Not when it suits them!

Vodafone Hutchins have contractors who charge between $120 to $250 an hour.
I wonder if they will pay me back the time I have lost just being on hold and trying to contact them!

8616 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The absolute worst at 29 Dec 2010 05:18:49 PM
I am currently on Tasmanias East Coast - there is absolutely no coverage and when I call Vodafone from Skype via my Telstra Broadband modem, which works perfectly I am left holding on for an extraordinary time trying to sort out the issue of retrieving voicemails from another phone. What worked last night does not work this evening with Vodafone.

I am usually in Sydney and experience drop outs all the time, bad spots in populated areas where other providers have perfect reception and of course I cant use my Vodafone phone at home without going to a certain corner in the house.

As for Lara - she is a disgrace.

I have nothing positive to say about Vodafone - poor system backed up by poor service

8599 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Have been allowed to cancel my contract with 3mobile at 29 Dec 2010 05:02:02 PM
Updated news with my 3mobile contract.
Well ive contacted 3mobile again today in regards to their poor network service they are providing me. Ive been in contact with them 10+ time about this issue over the past few months.
They told me today i will be allowed to cancel my contract with them. First they asked if i wanted to go to Vadafone, and i told them the issues they are having, she told me she knew about this, but she had to ask.
As i wanted to keep my Iphone, they told me all i have to do to keep this and cancel the contract is pay out the remaining money owing on my phone ($300) Which i will be doing and think is fair
Long story short, it looks like you really have to complain to them a few time about your issues/problems before they are willing to do anything.

8596 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely at 29 Dec 2010 04:59:18 PM
Well after multiple phone calls and being left on hold or waiting for the callback (that doesn't come) I am over it. I am complaining about my phone and vodafone's poor service areas and performance issues.

I constantly have people call me and my phone goes straight to voice mail. Same as SMS's disappearing or arriving hours late. My phone disconnects mid-call constantly!

The service is so poor I have purchased a SIM with another provider and tested my handset with zero problems. So for the past 3 months I have been migrating over. I want to exit. However, now I am told I need to pay out my contract (6 months x $49)!!! Vodafone's service is so bad I am forced to go elsewhere so why should I be held to that? I want out but at nearly $300 to exit this is extortion. I do not want to be paying two providers.

My family are all on vodafone and experience the same problems. What I want to understand is what happened recently (last 3 months). The service is not worth the money.

I recently understood they can void this exit fee if the service area is a known problem area. This is nearly everywhere I go however particularly at home it is amplified and as I said the whole family is affected.

29 Dec 2010 05:06:44 PM: Yea if you are having really bad reception issues they should let you cancel without any fee, but they might ask for the phone back. Keep contacting them and if they can't resolve your issue then it might be worth going to the TIO.

8590 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MEGA BIG fail!! at 29 Dec 2010 04:51:19 PM
Vodafone was great with fabulous customer service until Hutchins(3) bought it out 3/4 years ago has become progressive NIGHTMARE since. Have 3 phones and 2 broadband modems= 5 connections with them and, honest, ALL are stuffed in last few years. Calls don't come through, may or maynot get to voicemail, texts may take 4 DAYS to come through, missed calls, dropped calls, everything already said on this site! Slow broadband, ACHINGLY slow website etc...and concept of 'customer service' is an unlaughable joke. The customer service operators themselves are polite, apologetic and genuine in their desire to help but they are also ineffective and uncertain in their answers and actions, likely to the limitations of information, authority to act and staff numbers in the call centres they work from. Less staff, less equipment and trainig leaves more money for aggressive (if shonky) advertising and managerial payrises I guess. Am in process of transfering phones to Virgin, though wish someone else would offer 365day option as is useful for my spare phone. Also paid $300 for original broadband modems (2) when released, told could disconnect from Vodafone3 after 6 months, not exactly true I found out, as want to charge ANOTHER $75 each for the disconnection fee!! Yes, cheaper to cut my loss of both modems and buy again elsewhere. So my warning to unwary is DO NOT BUY ANYTHING from this company whatever the 'offers' may be as they WILL find a way to trap or abuse your contracts with them!! Joined them 2004, leaving them with 2010. Great website, fabulous initiative!! To critics....yes, all telcos and any other business who want contractual obligations to your wallet for 2 years should have websites like this calling them on their side of that contract!! Well done!

8580 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor service at 29 Dec 2010 04:35:35 PM
2 vodafone shops where i signed up my phones have closed down. The first shop provided totally wrong information about what means the "cap". The misleading caused me paying $ 2,000 phone bill 1 month. When I called vodafone to complain, the answers is: it the fault of the shop owner, not vodafone. 2nd shop i signed up my iphone has closed as well, also provided me the wrong information about overseas service fee, this time i even did not bother to complain since i know i will get the same excuse. Vodafone is definitely providing very poor service to their customers. At the meantime, i sometimes got signal problem even in the city. As a customer, i am NOT happy.
29 Dec 2010 04:59:19 PM: Don't be unhappy Sign up to class action against Vodafone and claim compensation.
30 Dec 2010 06:44:19 AM: Vodafone has dealers that are separate from vodafone and just sell vodafone product therefore it is the shops fault
1 Jan 2011 06:38:29 PM: Spare a thought for the franchisees.. They must sell this dodgy product to feed their families. It was good up until the merge now it's all gone pear shaped. VHA has sent my business and me personally broke. How can I honestly "sting" customers? VHA will not admit they are at fault as every franchisee will sue them. I've just recently refinanced my property to the tune of $100k.. I never signed up for a dodgy network of merge!! Now I'm going to lose the lot!! Care factor from VHA is zero... Can't wait for my barrister to get back from annual leave!!! Good luck to each and everyone of you! Don't give the pricks the satisfaction!!!! Two cans and a string will do me!!! NJ

I initially used Vodafone because they told me that I would have great coverage in my area and over most of eastern NSW and their plans were actually great value. 2 years ago we drove to Melbourne- hardley any coverage along the way, none along Great Ocean Road. and ended up buying a new phone, still with Vodafone because I thought my mobile was faulty. Then had to stay in Melbourne extra night due to Sim card problems. Questioned staff from local shop about this upon our return and was told to list everywhere that coverage dropped and then contact Vodafone with that info. Too many places to even start listing, plus I can't get mobile reception in our house. I have to walk a block away, sometimes 2 to get reception. What is the use of that? Finally gave up this Novemeber and transfered my account to Telstra. I don't have as good a monthly plan as I had with Vodafone, but I guess you get what you pay for. I finally have home reception, all the way mostly to work (an hours drive) and at work. Yay!! Vodafone GONE!!!!!!!! Thank you for taking on the task.

I spent over 3 MONTHS on the phone to Vodafone regarding my connection.
The first month I tried to resolve the problem, the last 2 months I tried to cancel my contract because they were not providing me with the service I signed up for!
Cutting a long story short - I FINALLY got some results - the offered me 2 free months and then a big discount off every monthly bill that I had after that (another 12 months) BUT - that wasn't enough for me, I wanted my contract cancelled and I got it! (FREE OF CHARGE). Keep on pushing people! Im now with Virgin, and am finding them MUCH better!

Well done Vodafail! Sort em out!

8554 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible in every way at 29 Dec 2010 03:45:32 PM
No data coverage in Sydney CBD, cannot access internet, email or voicemail at times. Phone will display full reception throughout day, but people tell me they can't contact me on mobile. SMS messages not getting to recipient - this has happened numerous times. Frustrated that I'm being charged to send an sms that is not being delivered.
Moved from Optus network after 2yrs of crappy service from them thinking that Vodafone would be better (I was a vodafone customer for 8 years prior to going to Optus) however, very disapointed to find that Vodafones problems are worse than Optus. Would like to be able to tether my phone to use the mobile broadband, however cannot do it at home or in Sydney CBD.
Complained to Vodafone via their website describing in detail where the problem was and how it was affecting me, had a response from their support asking me where the problem was and how it was affecting me. In other words, their support didnt even read my original email.
I want out of my contract or a reduced monthly fee at least until the problems are fixed. I am paying for a service which obviously cannot be delivered.

8551 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor service for months at 29 Dec 2010 03:39:52 PM
Finally found some time to complain to Vodafone about the slow data I get plus more recently call drop outs and slow text messages as I am now on hlidays and have some spare time. Although data has always been slow it has definately been getting worse no matter where I am.

Of course the Customer Care staff had to go thorough a process have you tried this and that (yes I have). They are going to run some tests and get back to me on Monday due to the holidays etc. This is after I requested to get out of my contract.

I must say the staff member I eventually got put through to was very helpful (sounded like a subcontinent call centre though). And they put me on a cheaper plan (as they should).

All I can say Vodafone is stop signing more people up to a Data plans on a network that clearly isn't coping. Apologise to everyone and promote how great your network is once it's upgraded.

Oh and by the way there are plenty of your Customers that haven't yet bothered to complain cause they don't have the time. Just because someone hasn't complained in detail doesn't mean they are happy with the service ( I think the CEO was saying only a small number of Customer complained). Once their contracts are up I think plenty will be switching. My advice would be to send apology letters and discounted plans now until the problems are fixed.

Hopefully I will hear back Monday! Wish me luck!
29 Dec 2010 04:14:33 PM: Good luck! Hope you get your contract sorted out soon.

Im not even going to start on my phone issues. My biggest problem is our INTERNET. When i signed onto my contract i lived in Moss Vale. I had every intention of moving to Nowra. I checked with voda that the coverage would be fine. They assured me that nowra had full coverage as it was a much larger suburb. It doesnt. Long story short i now have an internet contract with Voda and absolutly NO coverage that i have to still pay $10 a month for the next 15 months.
My partner has had the same number with Voda for 13 years. It was ok until the last 12 months. Constant drop out calls, network busy or no coverage. We are both on recently new plans and have no service in our new house. They just dont want to now about it, no help at all and i just cant deal with them anymore :(

8547 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Absolutely shocking at 29 Dec 2010 03:33:14 PM
I purchased my IPhone from the Port Macquarie outlet at Settlement City shopping centre late last year, where the phone displayed FULL reception (great gimick that one - you move 30 meters from the Vodafone shop & the reception disappears!!). I have no reception in my house, except on occasion I will have one bar of service on my washing machine. I logged my complaint some months ago explaining the issues that I have - which is no service, & they said they would send someone out to have a look. I had not heard from them for several weeks so I followed up my complaint to be told that I don't live at a valid address!! I had even given them instructions on how to get to my house & it can be located on Google Maps. They dismissed me & told me to go to the Ombudsman. Being a full time working parent, I cannot take the time out during working hours to log my complaint, so to date have not done so. I would like to say, that I would never ever ever recommend anyone to sign up with Vodafone. I left Telstra due to their lack of customer service, but Vodafone just have no service at all! Very disgruntled from Port Macquarie (not the middle of Australia where one would expect to have limited service).

8540 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No Service at 29 Dec 2010 03:25:06 PM
I have been with Vodafone for quite a while now and have had nothing but trouble with my service. I have to change my network settings on my phone in order to get any service if not I can't get any (which i was advised to do from a vodafone employee)so everytime i turn my phone off and on again i then have to adjust my settings. I have to walk around my house in order to find a place with service in order to send messages. If im in a shopping centre and try to make a call i have to stand in the one place until my call is finished or it drops out. I can be in the same room as my husband and forward him a message and he will get it 2 hours later. I would hate to be in an emergency situation as i have text my husband on my way home from work and he has received the message and hour to 2 hours later after i have got home. Im definately thinking about going to a different provider.

29 Dec 2010 03:16:30 PM: You should have mentioned the TIO to the person you were talking to, as that may have sped the process up for you. Either way bet of luck, the TIO should be able to assist you.
29 Dec 2010 03:19:58 PM: Yeah I did mention the TIO and was basically told that I should feel free to contact the TIO if I wished (we know these help desk people are useless but they are certainly very polite!)
29 Dec 2010 03:26:58 PM: Bugger I thought that would have sped it up for you, ah well now they get hit with a fe from the TIO to investigate, and additionally they have 10-15 working days to rectify the problem.
29 Dec 2010 03:35:11 PM: Fingers crossed. Thanks for your support :)
29 Dec 2010 03:42:05 PM: It would have actually assisted the rep to resolve your issue if you had factual information. You can't get out of your contract based on your say so. It is a contract! This just goes to show that the old saying is true. 'Buyers are Liars'
29 Dec 2010 03:51:38 PM: As I said, I did not write down every time a call dropped or a call failed as I was out or running around at work. I was not aware that this is what they needed (numbers, times, places, dates etc). If they looked through my phone history if they could be bothered (especially since the fault is theirs and not mine) they would be able to quite clearly see all this information for themselves. I am no liar. What would possess you to think I would waste my time on such things if they did not direct affect my life? Please reread my initial post if you need to understand why having a reliable service (that i have always paid for on time every month by the way) is important for me.
29 Dec 2010 04:01:04 PM: You wrote that you made stuff up. They CAN see call history. They can put 2 and 2 together. Instead of lying you could have recorded the times and dates where it happened again to make your complaint factual and called them back or viewed your call history in your bill and worked it out for yourself. They have no requirement to help you end your contract. The burden of proof/supplying a reason is on you.
29 Dec 2010 04:17:24 PM: I said I made up a few incidents to get them to shut up, i.e. to get the investigation going. The incidents I told them about have actually all happened to me, just not within the 72 hour period they demanded information for. I have barely used my phone in the past 72 hours because of Vodafone's craptacular service. When all the above-mentioned incidents have occurred over the past 3 months, I have simply not been in a position to write them down. I'm sure I'm not alone in that. I know every single member of my family who are with Vodafone are all having the exact same issues as me, and not one of them has been writing things down. I will repeat, they can look at my records to find out what they need - I can guarantee you that their records are a lot more comprehensive than my measly online bill. They may not have a requirement to end my contract, but they certainly have an obligation to provide me with the service that is stated in the said contract, which as we all know, they are not.

Due to the poor service vodafone has been providing i was unable to call emergency services yesterday when my daughter collapsed at the shopping centre i had to scream out to someone to call an ambulance for her.
I hope to god this vodafone nightmare does not cost someone their life!!!!
29 Dec 2010 03:44:44 PM: Your phone will call emergency services on any network that is available. If you couldn't call out then NO NETWORK was available at all. In door coverage is not guaranteed by any carrier.
30 Dec 2010 12:34:24 PM: Thats funny the lady standing next to us was able to get through to emergency services...therfore THERE WAS A NETWORK service available

8508 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING at 29 Dec 2010 02:40:54 PM
Have had Vodafone for many many years despite the fact that NOT ONCE has a call remained constant without dropping out. We live in Cherrybrook in suburban Sydney and have 3 mobiles on Vodafone. NOT ONE of the phones [all different brands] can reliably receive calls in our home. The phone MAY ring, usually not, and if it does manage to ring...the caller ALWAYS drops out! We are NEVER able to be contacted, nor contact each other within the local shopping centre, nor at Castle Towers- monstrous shopping centre- whilst every other telco users CAN receive calls...NOT US VODAFONE SUCKERS!. Calls constantly drop out, every single call, EVERYTIME!!!!!

So we bought yet another 3 cheap mobile phones recently in frustration and connected them to VIRGIN. Uses the Optus network, however Virgin coverage seems much much better The phone ALWAYS RINGS! AND is definitely available in the shopping centres mentioned above. Still trying it out though. As far as Vodafone goes, they deserve what they get for not using local call centres and employing Aussie staff to service customers. Like Hutchinson 3 Mobile they shoved us off to India & elsewhere, and just like we did to THREE 3 mobile , we are now giving Vodafone the BIGGEST SHOVE OF ALL!!! OUT THE BLOODY DOOR###
29 Dec 2010 03:47:51 PM: Haha I was in Castle Towers a few days ago. Got a call in the cinema. Thanks Vodafone for embarrasing me. Spose I should have had it on silent. Works fine throughout the centre. Strange that you had this experience.

8505 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is VODA-LAME at 29 Dec 2010 02:36:15 PM
I've been with Vodafail for a few years now and it has been gradually getting worse!. It often takes ages to connect when I try and make a call if it manages to at all!. I also have a prepaid internet stick and at times it will take over 10 minutes to load even the google search engine page!. It's supposed to be using 3G network and my phone that's sitting next to the computer loads the page in 5 secs. I rang the customer service and they explained that between the hours of 8 - 11pm there is an increased traffic on the net and so it might be slower. Why was I not told this when I purchased the internet stick?. Funnily though, as soon as I've run out of internet credit the top up page comes up faster than lightning. Boo on you Vodafone!! Way to lose your customers...OH and don't even get me started on the incredibly frustrating LARA customer service voice system!

I have repeated failed attempts at connection, people tell me they haven't been able to contact me for days and that my phone has been switched off which is simply not true:it is simply that my service provider is not providing service and not fulfilling their part of contract.

I am in a medical field and this morning I was trying to contact a colleague while in the apartment of an acutely unwell patient. Of course my phone would not connect me! Just one example of many I can cite.

I'm very interested in this class action I heard about. I will definitely be lodging my grievance with the ACCC and withdrawing from contract.

8491 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is customer service at 29 Dec 2010 02:23:02 PM
I got the vodafone prepaid broadband last month, it came with 3gb of data. the customer service staff said that once its finished i can come back and convert it to the post-paid month-by month plan. i asked them specifically if i need to need to bring any documents and they said no. when i got back to convert after 2 weeks or so, the staff wouldn't do it and gave me a list of documents to bring. they were rude and wouldn't even listen to us. The worst customer service ever!!!
29 Dec 2010 02:29:03 PM: my mum got the same problem. i got her the $49 prepaid modem & it came with 1GB. she was told the same thing about going onto the month to month internet plan. she went up to the store to do it but she got knocked back (didn't get approved). she was told that she would get a letter in the mail explaining why she got knocked back. she's still waiting for the letter. i had the month to month vodafone internet put in my name. what a fucking hassle that was. i rang vodafonefone weeks ago to have the bill sent out to me in the mail but the stupid retards at vodafone reckoned they emailed it to me which they didn't. fuck them i say.

8481 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The Worst at 29 Dec 2010 02:15:00 PM
Recently I rang Vodafone to pay the current bill but, just before I was to be given the receipt number, the automated system said that they had a technical difficulty and that I would need to try again. I ended up paying twice as the first payment went through! When I rang them I told them that my bank could not reverse the second payment and that they would have to do it as I had been in a similar situation before. They insisted that I ring my bank! I rang them back and got onto them after a lengthy amount of time. The Indian woman said that they would not fax my bank to reverse one of the payments even though I had all the details. This time she said that it would take at least 5 working days whereas the manager I had ended speaking to the first time said 3 to 5! I asked to speak to the manager again and she took my phone number and said that she would get him to ring back. He rang and told me that he could do nothing! He said it was up to the credit department and all he could do was mark it 'urgent'. I never got the refund! Instead they deducted the mo0ney from my next bill when I had told them that I was short of funds as it was Christmas!! By the way they spoke to me, they obviously didn't care even when I told that at the end of the contract I would be going back to Telstra! It was obvious to me that I was dealing with Indians and I therefore believe that I was dealing with an Indian Call Centre. The first person I spoke to I could not hear properly as his voice kept cutting in and out. Also he acted like he was dumb! I presume this was to put me off so that I would give up!! I do not like dealing with Indian Call Centres and this is why I changed my son's mobile over from 3!

To make things worse, my daughter is also with Vodafone and I have not been able to reach her ever since she went to stay in country Victoria. Too bad if I needed to contact her on an urgent matter!

8480 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor at 29 Dec 2010 02:14:14 PM
My partner and me have been with the sevice for nearly 4 years have complained numerous times regarding the service in our area been told next month, then will be updated again the following oh no will be another 2 months and it is always another excuse. My partners phone got lost and we rang the police and vodaphone as phone insured and they took all the details and said would be about 4 weeks before received phone in mail. We went on holidays still nothing over 5 weeks later rang again and was told need info sent to them now to say own phone and also $250 added onto account as to do with insurance that is so wrong that's why we pay insurance on the phone and were never told about this charge. We couldn't find papers at home of when we got the phone so went to our local vodaphone where got the phone which was a Iphone 3 and they had upgraded computer systems and moved to new premises in same place and no record of even getting the phone told to go to another store 20 mins away and they will be able to help and give us a copy of our record. Seems very fumny. Went to that store still no record of phone being purchased or anything this was ridiculous. My partner contacted vodaphone again after another week of trying to get info and they said ok we will send out phone.
How is it that even they have no information of the phone or details yet we pay an account ever month and still have till August 2011 till contract finishes. Phone arrived finally and had to activate sim and the shop couldnt even do that and they were rude in regard to activating. We rang customer service and that took over an hour to finally get it activated as had to wait for someone to answer the phone.
We also have wireless internet and have no service most days as with our mobiles not getting messages or even phone calls and people ask why don't you answer sorry never received message or phone call, sometimes come days later. very disappointed and i am waiting to finish contract and change to another provider.

Recently switched over from 3 mobile as was told by vodafone sales person that they have amalgomated, have not had any reception or coverage since I have changed over even though I was informed that my coverage would be better. I live in Carlingford NSW and have to drive my car up the street to receive messages and then have to constantly use my voicemail which I have to pay for due to their issues with coverage. When I have contacted them to complain, no response or apology and I have asked for them to credit my bills due to this problem as do not understand why I have to pay for this when i am not receiving the service they promised. My phone is used for business as I am not able to speak with my clients, even during office hours, have to walk outside the building to get any reception and majority of calls just drop out. I work at Rhodes in Sydney. Very disappointed with the whole process, even the billing process and would love to change back to another supplier and keep my number. Would never recommend them to anyone!!!!

8475 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is It is the worst service and coverage of all mobile phone carriers. at 29 Dec 2010 02:08:09 PM
I got a phone through vodafone. I work upstairs from (in the same building) as a vodafone dealer. I have no coverage in my own OFFICE!!!

I also have a Nokia N97 mini as part of my package. Because I got the phone from another dealer, the one downstairs (303 Pitt St) will not fix it for me. They said I need the reciept with the serial number. I called vodafone. On the phone, I was told by the machine it would be a 40 min. wait as all operators were busy. Arghh.... 40 minutes is inexcusable. I waited anyways. I spoke to someone after about 20 minutes. She took all my details and told me they would look up the serial-numbered receipt and email it to me. She said it would take 2 days at the most. That was 5 days ago! Still nothing.

The woman on the phone was clearly in an Indian call centre and said whatever she could to get rid of me. My service is still horrible and my phone is still broken.

Voda - FAIL!!!

Apart from the fact that my own messages take a ridiculously long time to send, I am now also experiencing delays in receiving messages too.

I am texting this sweet little honey at the moment and I think that she thinks that I am playing it too cool becuase whenever she sends me a text, she will not get a response for at least 5 to 6 hours.

As well as this, last night I was woken up at 3 in the morning to the sound of a text message alert. I, forgetting that vodafone was my crappy mobile provider got excited at this thinking that maybe, just maybe, the little honey that I have been persuing was booty texting me. Imagine my disapointement and anger when I realised that it was a message from my housemate which he had sent 8 hours earlier asking me if I needed something from the supermarket.

I do not have a home phone and my mobile that is 8 months old doesnt access the internet, will not recieve calls (people tell me it says this person is uncontactable at the moment) , disconnects calls and is late in sending and recieving txt's. I've been to the vodafone stores that are local to me (2 out of 3 are being renovated) the store that is open doesnt have any loan phones left because someothers are having the same issue, i was yelled at and told to "get over it. ". I wasnt impressed with this service so i called theire customer service centre where i was on hold for 1 hour and they just simply told me that i'd need to contact my local store. This was over month ago now and still there are no loan phones. This is my only course of contact to ,y family. I am a mum and need my phone for when my daughter is at preschool and also in case of emergencies. This is rediculous. Vodafone need to fix this situation or let us out of our contracts free of charge.

Have several major gripes with Vodafone.
Firstly is the automated voice response system. As a result I try real hard to avoid having to contact vodafone at all. When I do it is major pain going through the phone system for me so by the time I get to an operator it's become a most unpleasant experience. Every time I have reason to call I register a formal complaint about the voice response system.
Second gripe is I cant appear to get copies of my account mailed to me like every other organisation appears to be able to do.
Third is vodafone appear to now require a pin number to access account information and therefore billing details. I have a vodaphone account for many years now and for the life of me cannot remember any pin number. Now im supposed to phone their customer freekin service number to get past the pin number. All I am trying to do is find out how much I owe so that I can pay my bill.
Finally a fourth issue I have is that after waiting for so long for an operator when I phone 1555, I get disconnected and have to start all over again. Major pissed off X2 by the time I finally get to an operator.

When technology gets in the way of cashflow, business can fail very damn quickly. Maybe its time for me to bail and finally switch the two long term accounts I have to another carrier.
the recent introduction to having to use a PIN number to account your account

This is how my day has gone so far.
1. I am finding that whilst showing 5 bars of full strength signal, I have drop outs regularly.
2. Calls are failing to connect and often I need to dial 4 or 5 times to get a connection.
3. My handset has just stopped tethering to my computer and when I try to connect, I receive a message saying that I must contact Voda.
4. When online with "My Vodafone" to change the settings, I am getting an error message on the webpage and told to ring 1555.
5. 1555 would not connect and I have dialled 20 or more times.
6. Update. Got through to 1555 left my details for a service rep to call back but the automated reply system didn't work.
7. 3 hours later received a call from someone in India or Asia and I could not make sense of what she was saying.

While VF have the longest life of credit on pre pay when the correct plan is chosen,it does not compensate for the drop outs, non connection and missed calls.

8421 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The picture of fail at 29 Dec 2010 01:15:50 PM
On Christmas morning, I opened a present addressed to me from my mother in law. Clearly she hadn't been concentrating when wrapping them, as my parcel contained earrings and a necklace- undoubtedly intended for my wife. As a joke, my wife got me to put them both on, and she snapped a photo of my on her phone to send to her Mum in Perth. Of course, the picture wouldn't send due to the 'unforeseen' high network traffic of that random calendar event known as Christmas Day. Two days later on the 27th, my mother-in-law received the picture of me wearing earrings and a necklace on her phone no less than 30 times! She said (understandably) that it was starting to get downright creepy. To get any reception whatsoever in our house in central Sydney, my wife and I have to walk around waving our phones in the air looking like we're either attempting some form of bizarre mime, or adjusting the coat hanger aerial on a TV built in the 1950's. Currently I'm on a 24-month, $79, 1 gig a month data plan for my i-Phone 3G; the functionality of which roughly resembles a tub of yoghurt. Half the functions such as YouTube and so on refuse to work, so now I don't even bother. I went into the Vodafone shop today and felt sorry for the polite girl who shook her head, told me I was one of many and to try the Vodafone website or speak to Lara. Elaborating on her tale of woe, she told me that the Vodafone management tell them nothing and that like me, she only knows what she reads in the paper. I explained that I'd already spent an hour of my life on the phone to Lara and finally was emailed a form telling me how to 're-set my i-phone,' when it clearly has nothing to do with the phone. I told the girl in the Vodafone shop that I'd give it a couple of weeks out of good faith (yes, I'm a softie) then go to the Ombudsman to try to break the contract. Basically, I have no choice but to move to Optus, as the phone hardly works. Perhaps Vodafone is right to concentrate on trying to recruit new customers via their cricket sponsorship. Because the current ones are leaving in droves.

Vodafone keep telling me coverage will get better ? Its been 3 months now and its costing my money in redialed connection fees as well as my home landline going straight into message bank. On top of this its totally impossible getting through to customer care and furthermore Vodafone won't fix my daughters 6 month old Nokia and told me to buy another.. I've been a customer for 11 years, I have 4 family members on Vodafone as well as staff at work. I have to make the painful decision to change the whole lot to another provider ??? Customer care emailed me saying they are away till 4th January.. I don't need this stress just mobiles that can make phone calls..

8415 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Major Fail!! at 29 Dec 2010 01:09:07 PM
Me and a few friends compared our iphone 4's at the cafe yesterday. We had a Telstra, Optus, 3 and my Vodafail iphone all side by side on the table. These are the reception results:
1st: 3 (5bars full reception)
2nd: Optus (3bars)
3rd: Telstra (3BARS)
LAST: MY VODAFAIL WITH A PATHETIC 1 BAR!
Now here's my dilemma; If the transplant team from westmead hospital tries to contact me to tell me that they have a suitable kidney but cant get in touch with me, then who do I blame?
Some people have phones for business, some have them for leisure.
And then there's a group of us that wait for the lifesaving call.
Pull your socks up Voda!
29 Dec 2010 01:44:23 PM: So what was the 1st one again with 5 Bars? Or did the 1st and 3rd both have Telstra?

I live in Artarmon and can see there big house in Chastwood from my window. However do you think I can call them. No because I have a full signal showing but can't make a call most of the time. Eventhough people making calls on the train can be annoying I WISH just once I could be the one making the call. Their network is really sad. Their call centre well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've never had longish phone call (longer than 10 mins) that has not dropped out! I also have issues with delays in voicemail. Also when I ported from 3 to Vodafone it took 2 weeks to get sorted in which I had both phones - 3 and Vodaphone both working, but phone calls would still go to my 3 phone. Extremely frustrating!

I was with another network before vodafone 3 months ago and left them cause I was told vodafone is the network to be with cause they have a better network than the rest.I was told before I joined that there was a service tower in the area with access to 3G & 2G All I have had since then is problems, firstly I have changed my blackberry handset 12 times in 2 months, they kept telling me it was the handset, then they said it was the sim card they changed that 3 times and the problem is ongoing as we speak they said they will call back(this occurs on average 3 times a month) since I have connected with vodafone I have had dropouts in the middle of business calls, people try calling and it says my number is unavaliable or disconnected,I have tried calling my wife on several occasions and tells me her phone is disconnected, tried calling my wife on several occasions and it tells me her phone is unavaliable and then when i get through she tells me my phone is on with full service. My wife has the same problems when she tries calling someone she gets either a cherping sound telling her that she doesn't have service, the number you are calling is unobtainable, the number you are calling is disconnected, the number you are calling is un avaliable etc. I send picture messg for work and the picture mesg either don't get received or get received 5 days later at the earliest this is a very important role in my work as to dealing with things that need to be attended to asap and I am unable to complete my work due to this problem and then the work gets taken away from me and given to somebody else with better access to these pictures.Text mesgs sent and received as well don't get received until 2-3 days later. My emails in the first 2 months of connection are always received 3-4 days later I have lost so much business cause of vodafone.I am willing to go to the extreme to voice my troubles with them cause they have caused me pain and grief with my personal and business life. I have in the last 2 months told everyone I know that is willing to go to vodafone not to never recommend it.
29 Dec 2010 01:02:26 PM: I agree with those comments
29 Dec 2010 01:19:51 PM: I have been with vodafone for 2 months and I am having exactly the same problems with the handset as well Ben from Merrylands

8395 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Maximum at 29 Dec 2010 12:50:54 PM
Brief story 1: I was charged $700 for international roaming where Vodafail claimed I downloaded 42 GIG of data - onto an 8gb iPhone! Took me about two solid days to fix upon my return.
Story 2: Was billed excessive use charges ($180) on an $80 capped plan without major increase in useage. Called 1555 to complain and after 30 mins on hold, connected to an Indian call centre: he offered to delete my excess useage if I switched to the new 'infinite' plan. Initially I declined as my 24 month plan ends in two months and I'm counting down the days so I can exit, so I didn't want to 're-sign'. He assured me - after me asking four times - that my contract would still end in two months. ASSURED me!!
One week later I visited a Vodafail store to check, and the f-wit HAD signed me up for another two years!!! This was voice recorded! The Sydney instore guy was helpful and had it sorted after 20 mins (after two call dropouts to the call centre!) but after three weeks, I have just got my latest bill and now my latest charge is $250 on my $80 cap!!! And I barely use my phone. Aaaarrrggghhh!!! And I won't go into the dropped calls, the poor service or any other problem. Vodafone, your service, your network and your call centres are a joke!

Just want to comment about the story last night on Today Tonight. They said that Vodafone have set up a special line, 1555, this is the number to call if you have problems and you can leave your name and number and they will call you back. I am still waiting for someone to call me from the 9th December! Falsely telling me people that this is a "special" number set up by Vodafone. Ahhh
29 Dec 2010 01:06:01 PM: That's pretty shocking. Sounds like the great journalism of Today Tonight though.

8390 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Shocking at 29 Dec 2010 12:49:59 PM
I can't see how this happens. My dad sends me an MMS on 23rd, I actually recveive it on 27th. Sends another on 24th, I receive it 29th. My missus sends me an SMS 28th, still have not received it. I call her and the line drops out when it says I have 3 out of 4 bars. Even worse, when I was travelling on a train from Central to Dapto, I lost all reception from Redfern to Wollongong.

I am not on a plan, I am prepaid and was looking to go on a plan when I get a new phone. Looking like I won't be going with Vodafone, I have lost all confidence in you.

Haven't hadc too much trouble with my Blackberry since purchased last year however last few days has been a shocker. Use as my 'out of office' emails so as to contact people who send me queries about homes we sell and Vodafone coverage is terrific (or so phone says) but cannot send any emails, nor make any calls. Phone just says "call failed" and can't even get through to 1555. Called the 1300 number and was waiting so long ended up leaving other number for them to call me back (but won't be holding my breath). Not happy geoff!!!

The only way to get any reasonable use from my iPhone 3GS (on Voda 24 month contract, about 10 months to go) is to leave 3G switched off at all times.
Once you turn it on you get poor coverage, little to no data and drop outs galore.
Voicemail often fails as well.

I just want to get out of the contract without early cancellation fees.

first noticed total lack of service only when my callers contacted me by landline - I had just taken out a contract with Vodafone. Several weeks after the phone ceased to work. Took it back for a replacement, only to be told that I was several days past the replacement period of 4 weeks! Loaned me a phone whilst mine was being repaired. Collected repaired phone after some 3 weeks, then several weeks later the phone broke down again. Further trips to the shop to get it re-repaired. Have had promises that this matter was being dealt with by e-mails to Head Office and that I would be given a new phone because this one is obviously a "dud". NO RESPONSES WHATSOEVER. All my contact has been with employees at the shops and I havn't bothered to attempt to phone HO. Still waiting.

My phone looses connection all the time. I wondered what was going on. So I'm not the only one having grief. My voicemail also doesn't seem to work, my friends say they left a message but I don't get a notification anymore. I haven't called Vodafone to complain as I already know I won't get a person. They used to be a pretty good provider- what the hell happened???????????

I was without service for ~3 days two weeks before Christmas - it seems that the Palm Beach (Sydney Northern Beaches) tower was not working. A few times every day, I had to drive 10k to Mona Vale to get reception and pick up any SMSs :-( #FAIL

This was particularly frustrating as I work from home and my Vodafone/fail mobile is my only contact.

How is it possible that Vodafail *cannot* fix a tower in suburban Sydney for &three* days???

#FAIL!!!

8362 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is to the extreme at 29 Dec 2010 12:30:21 PM
porting my number. told the idiots not to activate the new sim till the number was ported.
they sent me the fone. i called them n told them to port the number. they said it would be ready in 30 mins. 30 mins later, i put the new sim in thinking its working.
and yes it worked. WITH THE WRONG NUMBER. the number was NOT PORTED. they didnt even do anything?????????? i didnt even need to wait 30 mins for the RUBBISH.
i called them again - they said it hadnt been submitted and i should now wait 3 hours.
3 HOURS LATER - STILL NOT WORKING.
i called them after waiting 4 hours. they finally decided to tell me an error had occurred and i had to wait 72 hours to get the number ported.
72 hours later i call again very frustrated. they tell me to wait till the 3rd of January to get my number ported, until then they want me to use their "temporary number".
WELL NOBODY KNOWS MY TEMPORARY NUMBER YOU IDIOTS.
HOW CAN SOMEBODY USE A RANDOM NUMBER FOR A FEW DAYS I AM NOT PAYING MY FIRST BILL THEY CAN go @#$$@@#$@##$#$#$@^$&

making me wait 3 weeks for port a number. that is BULL $#!T
29 Dec 2010 12:38:28 PM: Ring them and tell them that you are going to cancel all of the contract details as they have not lived up to there T & C's and it will be done with in a matter of minutes.. Also the numbers do not get switched over during public holidays. As today is not a public holiday they will not have a problem doing it at all

8361 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is email and reception at 29 Dec 2010 12:30:15 PM
i changed over from tpg to vodafone , i was told when i signed up that vodafone network jumps
over to other 3g networks in bad reception areas !! this is not the case !

infact if i turn 3g off i get a little better reception , i never had this problem with tpg !

Also email !! i have a optusnet account , I cannot get my emails on my phone !!!!!!

they work intermittently and work fine on wifi but not thru vodafone 3g network .

i have to try 15-20 times to get an email and it only works sporadically !!

the other solution is to go thru webmail but that defeats the purpose and usability of iphone !

note i did not have this problem with tpg i email worked flawlessly !

i tried calling and following this up with vodafone ! , they acknowledged ! there is a problem with vodafone servers communicating with optus servers !

what do i do now !

can i be released from my contract with vodaphone !

me and my friend signed up together same day ! , same deal , he sent me an email an hour a go , guess what ? no email yet !

Haisam .

8358 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor Customer Service!! at 29 Dec 2010 12:26:16 PM
When ever I have a problem with Vodafone, you have to go through Lara Bingle and she is no help what so ever. It also useless if you have a slight accent and all the recorded message is "im Sorry I couldnt understand. Pls try again"

Vodafone needs real customer service if they want to keep me and my family's business
29 Dec 2010 12:32:08 PM: I have a strong kiwi accent and have no problems.

If you want to speed things up and just want to talk to a human just say something like "Hurphamerf......" Lara wont have a clue what you are saying and you will get a human. ;)

8353 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Failing and failing some more at 29 Dec 2010 12:23:04 PM
Until two years ago, Vodafone was great -- immediate connection to a human, fast service and the rest. It is now a disaster. Complaining to the company doesn't work; I've done it about six times and asked for the CEO's office. No luck there. It's not the call centre employees in India's fault, it's the company and the executives of Vodafail who allow a Telco to operate this way. The billing is a mess, there is no customer service, reception is dodgy, especially data connection, and the waiting time and failure to fix problems is reason enough to not stay with Vodafail.

Im a social networker so I mainly am on the phone or on the internet. It seems that in some sections of sydney CBD and surronding suburbs the recpeton is full strength, but away from the CBD as in 50 kms away (Camden, Mount Annan) the reception is poor or if any. It seems while Camden is part of sydney metro area, we have one of the worst reception area for a metro city
