26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

QUOTE FROM SMH: "MARKETING researchers refer to a critical tipping point at which customers become sworn brand enemies, consumers so passionately enraged by service failure that they will bad-mouth a company at every opportunity and go out of their way to sabotage the business in any way they can."

19275 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Epic ;) at 26 Aug 2011 10:42:39 PM
Well as I have read, I'm definitely not alone in my extreme frustration. It's the same story. I'm in ACT, the capital of Australia and I can't even get good coverage in the middle of the city. My phone drops out in the middle of phone calls, nearly every time and I'm constantly moving from one end of the house to the other to find a good coverage spot. And by good, I mean I can hear every second word that's being said. I can hardly use my aps, some nights I can't be bothered to turn my phone on and off 20 times before I can get some form of 3G network to load my game. I don't receive voice mails and pictures for days. I had a phone interview and my phone kept cutting out during it and I had to re-arrange times so I would be near a landline. My mum called during an emergency and because I was at my in-laws where I get no service at all, I couldn't get hold of her with my own phone I had to borrow a friends, who btw is with telstra. They have had no problems!!! When I joined I told them I needed good coverage and they banged on about there big plans for a wider coverage network and assured me I would be happy. With in the first couple months I had more patience trusting them when they said it was just a small issue and it would be fixed soon. Trusted them when they promised that coverage would be vastly improved and I needed to give them a bit more time. I keep trusting these people and yet nothing has been delivered and I'm about 1 more phone call drop out to throwing this phone through a window! It's extremely disappointing, I'm Paying good money every month for a service, I'm just not getting. But it's good to know I'm not the only one about to erupt into a fiery ball of hulk-like rage (lol). Anywho- I feel a bit better now and I haven't verbally attacked a poor customer rep so yep! There my mess!
1 Sep 2011 01:13:11 PM: I'm in the ACT as well. I used to have exactly the same issues as you. No service in Civic, etc. I filed a complaint with Vodafone and was eventually release from my contract, just had to send the phone back. Fair enough.
I switched to Telstra, new phone and a good contract,I'm on their $59 a month plan. I havent a single issue since I signed up 2 months ago. My SMS always go through the first time, never ever have dropped calls. So Its up to you to bitch and complain to them to let you out of the contract. Dont believe anything Vodafone tells you, stand your ground that you want out otherwise they will stuff you around. Tehy'll most likely offer your plan for 1/2 price for 3 months, etc. But your problems will still be there.

19250 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is No reception! at 24 Aug 2011 04:43:48 PM
No fucking reception ever and bullshit charges i was not aware of! I have had my handset for 7 months and tried to ignore the issue, as i am not one to complain. But its getting worse! I am on a $70 plan a month and my service is conditional! Not only is it annoying its embarresing! I went into the vodafone store to ask if there was anything to do about this, they said there was terrible reception in the shopping centre due to other elements in the shopping centre so i would have to call up the vodafone service because there was nothing i could show them! they hand balled my problem onto someone who i will never have to see face to face! upon lodging a complaint to the tio i had a vodafone representative call me and say the problem lies with my handset or sim card, so i swapped the sim card, SAME PROBLEMS OCCURRED! Then they said it was my handset, so they wanted me to send it back so they could send out another one and continuing paying for the new one, even though its not my handset that is the problem its there shitty service! I want out of my contract so i can go to a service provider that is not so problematic! if i had known about this website i would have NEVER signed up for vodafone, paying $70 a month and not receiving the service I pay for! the "representative" for vodafone tried to tell me that it was saying i have full coverage all the time.. and i said to him as the customer who is paying his company MY money, there is a problem with service! My friends who also have iphones with other services will be hanging out with me and well all be going on the internet to look at something, but mine is the one that never loads!! I am so sick of this!
1 Sep 2011 01:16:07 PM: LOL. I had the same issue when I was with them. Swapped SIM cards (its always the SIM cards fault apparently). Same shitty reception and service after SIM card swap, no difference at all. Tell them you want out or the TIO will get nvolved.

19245 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is 4 week fail at 24 Aug 2011 09:31:25 AM
4 weeks of apparent inactivity from Vodafail to rectify the 3G network/BB Storm issue that appears to be unique to the ACT 3G network "improvement". Obvious troubleshoot is to roll back changes that were implemented 27 - 28/7. My bill does not reflect the reduced capability of my handset due to their FAIL

19236 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Disgraceful at 23 Aug 2011 09:18:03 PM
Was hoping to use my sister's mobile internet connection with Vodafail in Canberra, because it sure didn't work in the outer suburbs of Sydney and there's almost a year left on the contract. I'm within walking distance of the Canberra CBD, but the signal here is just as shocking. Every fifteen or twenty minutes I'll get just enough of a signal to load half a page and it dies again. If you're lucky. If you're not, it's longer than that and you get as far as "waiting for..." in the browser before it dies again.

I'll let the TIO sort it out from here. No point in paying for something that they're not providing.

I have to wait until June 2012 for an antenna to be installed near my house for coverage. What do i do in the mean time? Keep paying my $55p/m for limited phone usage if at all?
The Australian government should step in and do something. Look after your own people.
Also i have 3 wireless internet. 3 is converting to vodafone. In the past week i have had troubles opening sites and pictures on websites (archidaily) dont load at all.
Im lucky im on the month to month payment and no contract. Optus, here i come!!
23 Aug 2011 01:35:00 PM: I too want something done about vodafone. it's disgusting that the ACCC hasn't said a word, the ACMA has hardly moved a finger, and there hasn't been a public inquiry into this.

we all need to write to our local ministers!

19221 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is absence ofwap network in some places at 23 Aug 2011 03:53:06 AM
hullo sir, i had been using this vodafone for past 4 months, yeah it was working gr8, but right now whatever problem i had been facing ,it really feels like IT SUCKS, i took vodafone connection just because of its great internet speed, which is no doubt is true, but few days before when i shifted to a new place ,my vodafone gprs was still working gr8, but after 3 days i found that it stopped working out there, then i called to customer executives and you won't believe i had spend around 200 to 300 bucks for it,and no body gave me the perfect solution, except giving access point settings and all, and some time this bloody customer care executives used to play with me and used to keep me on hold for a long time and do not used to forward my call to the technical department ,then finally i went to the NOKIA promoter ,he took my phone ,and he inputted all the access point settings and then my vodafone gprs started working, he also told me that my phone is not going to support the vodafone gprs if i'll go to my house, because the place where iam staying doesn't supports the gprs ,yeah calls and messages would come but the gprs won't and actually it was right i faced the same problem because of network problem ,also in vodafone some unusual deductions used to happen through message and funnily the vodafone doesn't have any records for it,also just because of not supporting of gprs iam also in a loss +98 rupees ,so i request to rectify all these features for further development ,.,.else i would not recommend vodafone for use to any one of my friend,

19203 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is massive fail at 19 Aug 2011 06:20:32 PM
Vodafail has agreed to let me out of my contract and just pay the cost of the phone because of the litany of complaints I have made (delayed text msgs, delayed voicemail, broken internet, people calling me and getting a message that the number isn't in use, it goes on and on). Anyhoo, I need to change carriers v soon as I am going on a work trip and missing calls would be very BAD. Vodaphone can't transfer me to the correct department to arrange this because their internal system is down and they can't even transfer internal calls. Ironically, while I was talking to the poor lad on the other end of the line to complain, I had to stand outside my house under a tree and shout so he could hear me because the line was so bad. ARRRGGGH
19 Aug 2011 08:55:12 PM: I wouldn't even pay for the phone....they failed to uphold their agreement...so why should they get anything....
23 Aug 2011 10:39:42 AM: Agreed. They should also be forced to pay compensation for lost time, lost productivity, etc - that would bring them into line, as that would really hurt their bottom line.

I have finished my contract with Vodafone (finally, reception is shit and calls kept dropping out), have gone to Virgin, and Vodafone has blocked my phone , supposedly for 4 business days (Why??? God only knows!). It is now day 5 and I still am without a phone. Keep checking my emails to see if they have send me the code to unblock it. I mean, how long can it take to send someone a code?!? In the meantime I have lost all info on mu iPhone, all my photos, all my apps, my calender,no idea if I can restore all this when I get my phone working again.
I've been told I can't even ring anyone to complain, it's just the website, and I have to be patient!!!

It seems no matter when or where in Canberra I make a call, the call quality is horrible. I want out. I haven't contacted Vodafone about this yet. Do you think I will have much luck getting out of my 2yr contract after 6mths for bad reception?
18 Aug 2011 09:32:44 PM: definitely.

step 1: make a complaint here: http://www.tio.com.au/ComplaintForm/ComplaintFormS1.asp (takes 5 minutes).

step 2: tell them the situation and say you want out (for free) - they have to give it to you because they couldn't keep their side of the deal

step 3: tell all your friends/family NEVER to go with Vodafail ever, ever again. write a letter to your minister telling them how much time of yours it wasted so they can launch a public inquiry into Voda's disgraceful conduct.

19178 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is sad degeneration to abysmal service at 18 Aug 2011 08:33:01 AM
I left vodafone after being with them since 1994. I had been persisting with ridiculous service, coverage and drop outs until I became ill. I spent 7 days alone in my house unable to travel. I was unable to conduct business via the mobile. Reception has always been poor with drop outs, Ive lived with it making the call backs when I am on the road. Not being able to use the phone for that time was a serious health and business issue for me.

I paid an amount up front to minimise the exit charge on a phone to $300ish. After months of drop outs and years of dealing with Lara I went to Telstra. I assumed that churning the number cancelled the service at vodafone. Thats was the case with my wife. I have a bill for $1297 including $990 for a cancelation fee. They tell me had I called them before churning they done something however it is now too late now. Add my voice to the clamour. Sad really, they were the best customer service company I had ever dealt with 10 years ago. That acolade no goes to AAMI!!!
18 Aug 2011 09:27:39 AM: That doesn't sound fair, they are the ones charging you and they can decide to charge you less. It would be good to file a complaint with the TIO. In the complaint form you can dispute a bill and someone from Vodafone will call you within 10 days.

The TIO will actually fine Vodafone until the bill is fixed to your satisfaction.

Have a handset, that has been repaired, came back only part working, refreshed Software, now working beetter, but still not fixed. replacement handset (SE X10i) not available (out of stock), can only get a mini - FAIL

All other SE Handsets (other than Galaxy SII) also out of stock - FAIL

SE Arc which was announced as being available in April still not available on VF - FAIL

All other handsets that are available are considered an upgrade, and require me to lock in to a 2 year contract - BIG FAIL

I'm not on a contract... think I might finally be switching.
6 Aug 2011 12:50:39 AM: All those problems are Sony Erricson's fault not Vodafone. Vodafone can't control SE stock levels, or when SE decided to make a phone end of life (as the X10 was withdrawn by SE months ago), they also aren't at fault for SE not releasing the Arc on Vodafone.

19063 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is The worst at 4 Aug 2011 08:56:26 PM
I've only been a vodafone customer for a week (when I was upgrading on 3 I was told that there won't be 3 soon so I might as well change now). I can't believe how bad vodafone is!! It shocks me that in this day and age that a network can be this bad. No matter where I am, my network drops out every 5-10 seconds. It's ridiculous! And every single call drops out. And I can never use email on my phone, it cant ever connect. I would have never believed things could be this bad. And calling overseas call centers for help is a joke!! They never have the answers - I'm getting out as soon as I can.
5 Aug 2011 09:41:22 PM: Vodaphone bought Hutchinson and ruined their name...bought 3 mobile and completely stuffed their system....getting 3 mobile to move over to Vodaphone....not a good idea...as long as their are 3 mobile customers..it has to stay online....they must notify in writing to all existing customers of 3 mobile of a change...you do NOT have to move to Vodaphone....contract cancelled when they do change it....
6 Aug 2011 12:52:47 AM: The above post is incorrect, it was a merge not a buy out, and it is true once 3's contract with Telstra ends there won't be a 3 anymore.
7 Aug 2011 11:56:23 AM: That is right..I just found out that Hutchinson and Vodaphone merged...This did result in hutchinson's poor reputation even though when they were just hutchinson...they had an excellent name.... I apologise for the incorrect information on that.... However, Vodaphone must confirm with 3 mobile contracts and you do NOT have to move to Vodaphone to keep the service....by doing so they negate the contract with 3 mobile...

I sent my wife a message at 11:30am yesterday, 33 hours later she has still not received it (we are both with Vodafone). This is a common occurrence and we have to rely on either a confirmation sms or a phone call if it is important - I expect this places a further burden on the service! We used to just assume that the message would get through instantly.

I'm not complaining to Vodafone directly because I know there will be no benefit for me. I have no desire to be put through an automated system, placed on hold and eventually connected to an operator who apologizes and tells me it will get better. It seems easier just to wait for the contract to run out and find a new provider.

This is what Vodafone mobile broadband is. Over time, months and months this builds. It is the constant waiting of a minute to download a page, the e-mail you just typed out not being sent, the can not connect page that comes up time and time again, the loading signal going around while you upload by bps. So far up-grades have made NO diff.

18689 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is very fail at 12 Jul 2011 03:32:43 PM
Terrible customer service, terrible coverage, terrible everything. My calls drop in and out in volume and quality constantly, delayed text messages, an absolute minimum of a 20 minute wait to speak to customer service, an ironic, inappropriate title for vodafone to use, who rarely speak translatable english, OR care about my problems after tedious minutes of negotiating the language barrier. My data rate is pathetic. Using websites is completely impractical, I can set my phone to navigate to a page and wait half an hour and it has maybe a 50/50 chance of having loaded. Cannot use even a fraction of the data I pay for, I can use literally about 1/00th of my monthly quota when constantly trying to use it.

Not to mention my phone drops off the network completely almost every day, and I live under a relay... my housemates on alternative providers have full coverage at all times, and I cant wait to change. Ive been with vodafone for 10 years and back then they used to be the best, its all just gone downhill dramatically.

18663 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is worser and worser at 8 Jul 2011 08:23:55 PM
After six months of efforts to resolve my situation I gave up and decided to go with another carrier, but Vodafone won't even let me do this!!!! There is apparently a restriction code on the phone which stops you going to someone else. I have to go to a store or get another handset. Again costing me time and money and lost opportunity. I am going to the TIO for resolution. Vodafone's behaviour is verging on being criminal. Does any one at Vodafone read this????

18651 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Enough is enough at 7 Jul 2011 06:04:41 PM
I switched to Vodafone to get the HTC Desire HD and now regret my decision.
Today in West Pennant Hills & Cherrybrook I've lost count the number of times the calls dropped off, no data or internet services getting network errors or requesting me to update my timezone 20 to 30 times a day. It's starting to have an impact on my business (home office) and had a gut full. I've been patient giving vodafone the benefit of the doubt but enough is enough. I intend paying out my contract and move to Telstra, unfortunately HTC Desire HD does't work on NextG so as a result will count my loses, dump the HTC Desire HD and get the Samsung Galaxy S II. Such a pity the HTC Desire HD is a nice phone, wasted on Vodafone network. Some how I don't think Vodafone gives a grap.
9 Jul 2011 09:50:16 AM: I so agree with you...the phone is brilliant and I have the same issue...slow internet swervice, updating time zone all the time...and ....thru connect doesn't work and no sms for voicemail...

I've just succesfully had my 24 month Unlimted plan cancelled after 6 months of horrible service. I think I complained to them around 6 times before going to the TIO.. I tell you what, once the TIO is involved they really cant help you any quicker!! I was let go from my contract with no exit fee and kept my phone (HTC Desire HD) for less than 50% of what they originaly wanted me to pay for it..

Anyone else looking at taking your arguments to the TIO, keep track of your complaints, remember what youve told them and what they've said / done to try and 'help'.. if you get absolutley nowhere with your issue then its time to go to the TIO!

Goodluck!
4 Jul 2011 09:53:57 AM: I sent all my complaints to the Vodafone and TIO by email so I could print them off. Have a plastic sleeve full of paperwork but at least I have the problem solved.

18611 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Where to start.... at 2 Jul 2011 10:01:04 PM
Haven't been able to connect to the web through my mobile for about a week. It's ALWAYS slow but good grief!!!! Now they're going to start billing us when we connect to anything with a login?

Guess I won't be affected by that little piece of joy since I can't connect to a damn thing. Unfortunately I'm stuck with my phone for another 11months. So I suspect the drop outs, missing voicemails etc will continue.

As for their mobile broadband, that has been a total waste. I can honestly say my coverage was better with dial up. At least I can get out of that contract in a couple of months. Thank God for small mercies.

2 Jul 2011 10:24:38 PM: Oh,forgot to mention. After another lengthy call to the overseas call centre today to complain about my mobile broadband and to see if they could actually get me some coverage (you know the drill) they agree to drop my plan to a $15 for the remaining two months of my contract. When I asked if the contract would cease on that day and it would be disconnected, they said 'No. You will have to call up and have that done.'

'But I'm telling you right now, I want this contract to cease on 17/9/11. I do not want it after that.'

So I asked when the appropriate time would be for me to call them to arrange for it to be disconnected. They tell me I should do it about a week before it is due to expire.

I think this is insane, and an obvious ploy to continue billing me.

I then asked if there was somebody within their company that I could write to, confirming that I want the contract to cease as of that date. An email address? No they said. They then informed me they were at the highest level of the complaints section and that an email or letter would not be responded to. WTF????????????

Where the hell does Vodafone get off by making it so difficult for people to finish their contracts.

Screw it. That little piece of joy about not being able to send a letter or email through to someone to ensure it is finalised is the last straw. I'm going to the TIO.
12 Jul 2011 03:39:56 PM: You need to contact the TIO to get out. I'm in the ACT as well and was able to get out of the contract directly through just dealing with Vodafone. The only thing I had to do was send the phone back. They even sent me a AAE satchel to send it back in. Now I'm waiting to see if the manage to fark up my final bill. Otherwise I'm done with them. Been enjoying 2.5Mbps 3G connection in Gungahlin with Telstra for over a week now.

Data service shows 3-4 bars of connectivity/signal strength. Throughput and actual connectivity just keep dropping to zero for many, many minutes at a time - causing all sorts of timeout issues.

Still can't run the phone on 3G - have to keep it on GSM to make it even vaguely useful.

All of this from my home where I was told VF coverage and performance was "excellent"... :-/

Ordered an item online that was meant to be delivered within 2 working days. I called to try and get a dispatch date and spoke to five people and then two other complaints staff and still couldn't get an answer. Bought the item at a Vodafone store (where the staff were helpful, the phone staff could learn a lot from them) and the sales person cancelled the online order for me over the phone. A few days later, the item is delivered to my workplace, not signed for, is left in an open reception area and now Vodafone are being very difficult about reversing my credit card transaction for the online order. A great big FAIL!

So Got a Message from Vodaphone and apparently all web based 3G access that requires a log in will incur a usage fee.... i am pretty sure that rules out GMAIL, Web Banking, Facebook and all that other stuff. call 1520 from your phone to find out. 8/7/2011 start date. also and i can sort of see their point, they will be charging for Torrenting and Voiping services from your phone and tethering.

Can Anyone Confirm or repsond with furthur info as i have gone into 2 Vodaphone stores and talked to there customer team briefly about this and can't get straight information

BTW wife sent me 2 messages while she was sitting next to me in the lounge room, 1 turned up 4 hours later and the other was 3 days. good to see that they have fix a problem that is 8 months old.

thank you

Vodafone sent me a lovely wake up text message telling me that I owed them near to $500 on my monthly contract which usually only costs me $49. I have never been wide awake so quickly. I got onto customer billing support and they told me that as the bill had not been generated yet, they were unable to help me and I should call back in 4 business days time.

Now I have an anxious wait ahead of me to clear this mess up. The only thing I can think of which might explain this is that I recently upgraded my $49 plan from the 'old' plan with 50mb data to the 'new' plan with 1.5Gb. I was told that this would not affect the terms of my contract or cost me any more than the $49 a month I was usually paying.
17 Jun 2011 12:29:39 AM: I've just had the same problem! but at night, so now i can't sleep ...... Mine was for $600 .... i'm panicking and of course cant sleep. Let us know of the outcome!

When I got home, my next bill was astronomical and when calling vodafone they informed me that call rates were $6 per minute. I asked them about the text and they have no record of the text. 18348 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is less communicative than my ex-husband during our divorce!! lol at 8 Jun 2011 01:28:24 PM
Since last Friday, my phone has pretty much stopped ringing, but I then get all these voicemail messages from people who can't get through. Calling up the VM service now only works intermittently - so I can't always even find out who's not even getting through (I'm not getting 'missed call' messages either).
Calls from my handset work only intermittently, and I'm often cut off. Only SMS seem to be going in or out, but with substantial delay. Even mobile data access is off.
The last two times I rang up to report outages in north Canberra, they would not take a report on it, and both times just repeated over and over again that there were no reported network problems in my area! This, despite the line dropping out twice - they still tell me my line is fine!! The last time I called, I had to offer the guy $20 just to stop saying it ;). [I swear, if they were trained to tell you repeatedly the sky was most certainly orange, they would do it.]
And of course now I can't even get through to their call centre to even log that there's a major problem - I can't get a single call in or out all day.
I've never broken a phone contract in my life, but in 2 days my new Optus phone arrives :))). Can't wait. [Except for the joy of getting Voda to fulfill their promise that I can leave my contract fee free - I can definitely wait for them to reneg on that, which if history is any guide, they certainly will try to.]
Solidarity & good luck fellow mobile users! At least we're not alone in this :).

''We are a work in progress. We have got another good two years to go, but we are resilient and building a good, strong business for our shareholders.'' - Nigel Dews, 4th June, 2011

Nigel, you are one funny funny person.

4 Jun 2011 10:03:32 PM: ''It is fine for now,'' Dews says. ''I think we learnt very early that No. 2 in two years was not something that we wanted to pursue, because it was never anything that we were going to pursue at any cost and growing profitably is what's key to us.''

No Nigel, it's NOT fine. Your company is in shambles and your network doesn't actually work. "Pursue at any cost" are precisely the words that describe Vodafail's abhorrent, short-sighted business strategy and complete disregard for its customers who are slewn around by their contracts.
6 Jun 2011 10:22:05 AM: Vodafone is only a marketing company who's only cares about promoting the little red symbol. If they really cared about there network, they wouldn't allow it to get so bad. The only reason they merged with the 3 network was so they can benefit from sponsorships that 3 has. Lets face it what idiot would piss off so many customers and do very little to fix it. It easy to have 2% of there customers to leave there network hence instant improvement to there service. Vodafone has the dollars to improve there services at a fast rate, but its easier and cheaper to have people leave there network. There PR will entice new customers by providing higher data and voice package, knowing you would never use it due to the speed of there internet and service so there will always be "fresh meat" to come on board. Plus having a call center in Mumbai with staff with english skills of a Grade 4 student just benefits vodafone further, by having you give up in getting things improved with your service. There are people in Mumbai that have fantastic english skills but vodafone just ignore this level of education. Its a big con.

Vodafone are only interested in lining their pockets and have no regard for how their customers suffer when they fail to deliver on their promise of service.

Inconsistency in information provided to customers from them is another issue.

Now I'm switching to Telsta to save myself the headache, I only hope they are not as dissapointing.

18163 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Vodapennytel fail at 27 May 2011 06:58:04 PM
Please put Pennytel ('PT') on the no go alternatives.

I am posting here due to the lack of communication received from Pennytel (a carrier that now uses the Vodafone network) to let off some steam.

Story is this: Optus recently dumped Pennytel as their official carrier, Pennytel has now requested its users to switch to their new Vodafone plans. They promised delivery of the replacement sims on 2 May. They promised, "2 working days".

This concerns the late delivery of my replacement Pennytel simcard and Pennytel's poor communication and service. This has to be the worst combination. Penntel (incompetence) combined with Vodafone (uber incompetence).

I am very upset with PT's tardy service. My phone has been disconnected since 13th May. Probably due to the port to Vodaphone initiated by PT. I was advised on 2 May that replacement Pennysims would be shipped within 2 working days. It is now 27th May. That is 25 days. Still no sign of a pennysim in the mail. Methods to contact me on the phone were gone for days since 13th May. The only remedy was to purchase an emergency simcard.

This is a pain, as it isn't my usual number. This problem is exacerbated by having a very ill grandparent who has me on call.

One thing that upsets me further is me having contacted Pennytel almost a dozen times between 2-20 May. Every single e-mail I sent was received and I got the auto reply:

"24-48 hours and we'll contact you" along those lines.

This didn't happen. Only until 4 days ago have I received reponse.

Almost 21 days later from 2 May, I receive an e-mail: "Case priority: Low. Please send us your address to confirm shipping".

So I did. But why do I need to confirm my address? I've ordered products and sim cards in the past. They shipped to the shipping address as specified in my profile. Also, if they needed me to confirm my address, why didn't they send this e-mail ages ago?

In addition, they setup this system on their website to streamline the switching to Vodafone plans. You simply log into your account and click on the voda plan you wanted to go into. The claim, "We'll do the rest". So this e-mail 20 days later to ask me to confirm my address? Utter bull shit.

I have never been so upset with the customer service of a company before.

In addition, since the beginning of receiving the Optus cancellation announcement to the Vodafone switch (Was known since Mid-April)I have sent various e-mails with simple inquiries concerning the new plans and so forth. I just wanted clarification on what I was getting into. Is that too much for a customer to ask questions on things he isn't 100% on? Well, objectively I think that's quite fair. Well, Pennytel hasn't responded to any of those either.

Really, I just want my micro-sim delivered so I can get on with daily business. I have ill relatives that need to contact me in emergencies. I have customers that need to contact me. The fact that I have had to go out of my way to purchase an emergency sim is already too much.

Overall, the lack of communication, the loss of business and the overall frustration and suffering I have endured has led me to elevate this to the TIO and ACCC.

I hope that Pennytel can quickly resolve this so I can just get on with normal life.

Pain in the ass.

18081 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is very fail!!!! at 22 May 2011 06:51:49 PM
I have been a Vodafone customer for six years, given them countless customers from refering people and have spent a lot of money on Vodafone services. For the past six months I have recieved AWFUL coverage, days without the use of my phone and messages that never send. Every call cuts out AT LEAST twice. So, I email Vodafone asking if either a) they can fix the problem or b) compensate me for such terrible service. Vodafone's response was that I should change to another network provider as they were not going to fix the problem and wish not to compensate. For six years I have been paying them and THIS is the help I get. I get told to go away. It is infuriating that they can get away with it!

18063 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Mobile Broadband not mobile at 20 May 2011 08:33:23 PM
Bought a Vodafail mobile broadband stick from Woolies after checking online that I'd get coverage at my house. Not a single bar of coverage. Went into Vodafail and apparently (according to them) the three houses in a row where my house is don't get any coverage, but the rest of my street does which is why their website says I'm covered. Huh???? Then had to try to return useless stick to Woolies and listen to how wonderful and gracious they were that they were so kind as to refund my money even though they didn't have to. I think they expected me to be grateful.

put the pain back on Voda. Overpay your account and then contact them to ask for a refund. if 20000 people do this they will really know what frustration you are enduring

17960 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Uterly useless systems at 14 May 2011 07:19:48 PM
Got released from my contract with Vodafone. Ported to Telstra - what a change a phone that works and provides a good data connection. I have to send my phone back and they were going to send a bag to return the phone.

Letter dated 5 May 2011 - informing me that I have to return the consignment bag within 8 days of the letter.

10 May - receive bag. (Its a long way from Sydney to Canberra after all)

11 May - return phone in bag.

12 May - receive a bill dated 12 May for almost $1300 for handset (this is 7 days from the date of the letter).

Does this company go out of its way to have absolute crap systems??? Does it go out of its way to aggravate customers?

That smiling moron Nigel Dewes was in the media announcing that Vodacrap was going to get into fixed communications with the NBN.

Given this experience with the mobile I would not touch Vodacrap with a barge pole. I hope the pathetic company goes out of business. I think it lives by the credo of infurate and aggravate customers.
15 May 2011 07:42:05 AM: Did you keep the tracking id for the phone return?

If so trace it via Australia post.

Let us know.

Three things are certain in life. Death, Taxes and no vodafone coverage.

What did the Vodafone executives say when Nigel Dews said he was quitting?
"you can't quit, we've got you on a 24-month contract"

One Vodafone customer calls the other. What did they say?
What does it matter they couldn't hear eachother.
16 May 2011 11:07:15 AM: same happen to me when I told them to quit my contract , as there is no reception at my work place , and there are constant call drops on the network when I am at work - the only difference is mt mobile network belongs to 3 - which is same like vodafone and 3 are now merged. I complained so many times but they are not doing anything, and I am stuck because of the 24 month contract and can not do anything.
16 Jun 2011 05:19:30 PM: same here

17925 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Annoying at 12 May 2011 04:45:00 PM
SO I call up because my son's phone stopped working. Turned out the prepaid expired and I didn't recharge it. Simple right? Well - I spent an HOUR trying to convince the person that the number was mine - gave another number to check against, she had no idea what was going on, then - after an hour - I'm put through to some rude lady (with worse accent - you know where from - great cricketers) couldn't tell me anything beyond "You need to go get a new sim, then activate it, then blah blah....". I asked for the balance I lost, and what was the balance on the other prepaid I have. "Sorry sir, I cannot tell you that".

So - screw Vodafail (and Three btw - my phone has been going weird past month) - I'M HEADING BACK TO TEL$TRA!!! YEAH!!!

17909 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Unbelievable at 12 May 2011 02:12:00 AM
I had signed up to a month-by-month wireless broadband as a temporary solution until ADSL was installed. 2 months later it was no longer needed. I went into the store and was told I needed to call over the phone to disconnect. That was fine, I'm a big girl, I can call myself and I don't care if it's overseas or god-forbid they have an accent, doesn't bother me.
What bothered me was it took 7 phone calls for absolutely nothing. Each time I called they transferred me around from one department to the next, obviously uncomfortable with the idea of me disconnecting. I even lied and told them I was moving overseas the next day. They offered to suspend my service until I returned, so I told them I was moving permanently. I was then transferred to their "upgrades" department who were the "only" people able to disconnect.

Complete bull shit. I work at Telstra so I ended up porting my number out to telstra and disconnecting it there.

Honestly, I don't want credits, I can pay my bill when its owed. Sometimes people just want to disconnect and move on with their lives!!

Wireless internet constantly drops out "Diagnose Internet Connection". Mobile constantly says "Emergency Calls Only" "No Network" - why am I paying Vodafone for "No Network"???? Unbelieveable. Vodaphone store keeps saying - no problems at all in the area - the staff are being told to lie - shocking - NEVER EVER AGAIN WILL I SIGN WITH VODAFONE.

17866 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Utterly & Completely Screwed at 9 May 2011 10:39:45 PM
Residing in the Gungahlin area... Completely No 3G coverage when I'm @ home (having to rely on my home wireless network) or anywhere in Canberra for that matter... Been on to Vodafone quite a few times, informed that they are still re-working on their towers for the area (this was well b4 xmas '10) & still no no resolve... Everytime I call them they can mysteriously credit my account $50... Still doesn;t help with coverage though, the phone they sold me, they now inform me is one they don't recommend (SonyE X10 - Didn't tell me that when I was comparing all the phones available - was the best phone on the market) Now Im stuck in a 24 month contract & I want out....
10 May 2011 06:25:06 AM: I'm in Gungahlin and have the exact same problem...$50 credit and all. It's better for the call centre to just pay you out each time you call than have another customer cancelling on their record.

I also have an internet stick, they offered to credit the full cost each month providing I let the contract run it's course.

I am an ex employee, and unfortunatly..there is no hassle free way out. I'd head straight to the TIO if I were you.

I'd like to have the time back that has acculmilated from my pre-paid internet non-connections and drop outs. It must be hours upon hours all up I've reloaded and waited for connections. I have to copy this text because chances are when I go to send it it will drop off.

Yep - this is third ! try at it.

Why is it when I state my complaint to a Vodafone shop I get told by some little idiot liar behind that "there have been NO disruptions to Vodafone at all". Are the staff being told to lie to customers??? I think so. Why isn't the Communications Minister of the Australian Government doing his job????? Why is Fair Trading allowing this????? Only in Australia.... nobody complains hard enough here. In Europe this would be unacceptable and wouldn't happen.

If there's one thing to disinvent from the face of the earth that should be vodafone Australia.
This is not a telco company - this is a JOKE.

I learned that a class action is pending against this idiots.
Make them pay so much that they found prudent to leave Australia once and for all.

17620 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 2 May 2011 01:08:09 AM
Only about 4 months into a 24month contract, and where i live (less than 10kms from the City centre), i have one bar of service. I have made a number of complaints about there poor reception, only to be given 3 months free credit, i tell them everytime, i dont care about the money, its the mobile service i want..

What i want to know is, if i was to get an early release from vodafone, or if need-be the TIO, what happens to my iPhone that i pay $14 a month for, will i have to give it back, pay the outright cost, or pay out the remaining months at $14 per month.. any help appreciated.

Iphone user for 2 years with Vodafone.June 2010 working in Parliament House, loss of signal started, got worse as time went by.Nil to a little signal, could not call out no incoming calls, found emails and text messages sent to me during work hours appeared sometime overnight. Now (May 2011) have reception about 50% of working day in suburbs of Canberra, constant dropouts , no internet, texts take forvere or never get sent, same problem for a number of staff with Vodafone and different model phone (Nokia,Motorola etc)Received generic letter in March telling me of company shortcomings and how it would all be turned around yadayadayada. Now it is May and even as I write this from my laptop reception is zero bars on my phone, if I walk outside I can see a mobile antenna down the road (about 800 metres)Sometimes as I hold the phone I get a full 5 bars signal strength if I turn my back or mve it drops radically.

17596 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Getting worse everday at 1 May 2011 09:15:56 AM
I complained some months ago about lousy reception in and around Canberra. My phone is primarily used for work, without it I cannot know what other staff members want or where they are.Reception 18 months ago was good not excellent and I was reasonably happy. Then in June last year reception (ie;signal strentgh)started to decline , on average I would be lucky to have any reception over 50% of my working day, everyday. The first complaint resulted in a generic letter stating that things would improve , but no mention of any refunds etc;the second complaint resulted in two letters both asking for my pin number ( which I have forgot /lost) and as such, having not provided it, the complaint has been put into the companies resolved basket.Even as I sit here my phone is fully charged and has no signal.I pay for internet and really only had service for about 6 months of the 18-24 months I have been with them.Phone calls constantly drop out , e-mails sent during the day arrive up to 2-3 hours later, after I have checked on my laptop. All in all a poor product for the money.
