26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

13373 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Super Dooper Mega Fail! at 21 Jan 2011 07:54:52 AM
I have just signed up with VF about 3 months ago and since then i have failed to turn up to 7 job interveiws because my phone was "Out of service range". Then i thought to myself why not ring the company and find out why they aren't calling me. Turns out they tried me on 15 different occasions for the one company because of my credentials then came back with the excuse that i wan't intrested.... Since the first time i noticed this happening i called customer support and after 5 hours on hold because i had nothing better to do. They sent me to a message bank and told me they would call back. Ater about a week they cut my service altogether and charged me for the rest of my contract costs. When i went in and demanded my service to be restored i recieved about 400 or so messages from friends and family not being about to reach me.

I often can't get service inside my own home in Theodore. Calls drop out half way through, SMS arrive hours after they were sent & I'll get voicemail messages and never received a call (the phone never even rang)!

As soon as this contract is over, I'm out of here!

13270 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Copy of my Marriage Certificate lost after 'required' for name change at 21 Jan 2011 07:23:35 AM
I have issues with the quality of service at the Woden store.
Last year I went through this whole complicated scenario to change my surname on my Vodafone account, after I was married.
The customer staff at Vodafone Woden said they required a certified copy of my marriage certificate to do the change - a drivers licence was not adequate. I duly bought one into the store on a Saturday, and was told 'oh, the person who can do this isn't in until Monday, you can leave it here and we'll make sure it is all done'. I didn't want to leave the certificate in store, but they were adamant that it was required. We compromised by them making a copy via their fax machine, and I was assured it would be treated with care and my privacy would be protected.
Big mistake! Nothing happened, so when I went in the following week I was met by blank looks and a missing copy of the certificate. One staff member actually said that she thought it had ended up in the bin!!!
After a big hissy fit, the guy helping me said he didn't need it anyway and made the necessary call to have the details changed. At no point during that call was he asked about proof of name change.
They are so frustrating.
In fact, reading how dodgy they are via this website has made me resolve to change carriers this weekend. I should have done it at the point they were being so hard with my name change. Sigh
Good on you for making this website and allowing us to vent our frustrations.

13237 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Terrible at 21 Jan 2011 07:08:49 AM
I am a 3 customer...which any person know in Australia that 3 is owned by Vodafone. And the 3 service is going the Vodafone way.

I have a wireless broadband connection for 2 years now. Since I have recently got a ADSL internet connection, I wanted to cancell my old wireless 3 setup...but unfortunately there is no answer when I call 3 Care.

Reasons which they give like handset or SIM malfunction are all garbage.

I have been paying for a service which I do not use and do not want either.
I want to cancel it but 3 doesnt seem to be interested. I want my money back !!!! I'm planning to round up a few mates who are going through the same experiance and file a legal suit demanding compensation.
21 Jan 2011 07:19:33 AM: Unfortunatly you did sign a contract for this service, Probably a 24 month contract, you may be able to get out of it but if you are not using it due to the fact of getting ADSL then you will be unlickly to get your money back. If however you are out of contract on this i suggest you go into a store and stay there while the staff get this cancelled for you.

I have been with Vodaphone for ages and never had a problem with drop outs or anything else. Have phoned customer support twice to make enquiries about something and no problem there either. Was connected to a support person within a couple of minutes and they very helpful. My children and most of their friends are with Vodaphone too. They have the prepaid $29 cap and get free calls to each other which works out great and have no complaints of drop outs.

13164 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Extreme Fail at 21 Jan 2011 06:18:28 AM
I have constant call drop outs and I live in the Aussie capital WHAT THE? Its a running joke with family and friends, if my call drops out we have a plan where whoever rings in the first place rings back, otherwise we both try and ring back and then cant get through, but its that regular a problem that everyone knows and its been over the ladt 2 years. Also often in areas where I had recieption (once again note I live in a capital city) there is no reception. Have reported it to Vodafone, but according to them they dont have network issues and it must be my phone or sim card. Well the fact that it has happened on 5 phones and 3 sim cards blows that theory out of the water. So there seems nothing I can do but ring back when calls drop out or swear under my breath when suddenly I cant get reception in the Aussie capital in places that I could the day before. No Network Problems Vodafone???? Go figure????

13083 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Canberra Dropped Calls at 21 Jan 2011 03:00:05 AM
I live in Canberra, about 10k from Parliament House. Yesterday (20/1/11) three calls to my Vodafone at home from a car service company located 15k away dropped out, with contact only made through fixed line. This is not the first time this has happened; it it the first time I twigged the problem was with Vodafone. Could someone please advise on an alternative service. That works.

13062 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is classic model at 20 Jan 2011 09:12:51 PM
Last Saturday (15 Jan 11)not unable to call from Richardson ACT to family in Gilmore ACT (same post code area and also on Vodafail), kept getting "net work busy" or "phone number disconnected" messages or nothing at all, absolutely nothing after dialling. One Daughter unfortunately also has VF mobile broadband which is slower than dial up speeds and being recorded for future reference (read evidence for formal complaint). Could not get onto 1555 No. on Saturday or Sunday, got through Monday and got the most inappropriate message from VF about the popularity of their services and how they have so many calls to deal that one should call back later then you get cut off. Same deal if you ring their 13... No.

SO VF can't even be honest with you when they know they have trouble. Raised my concerns (politely but sternly) in person with the VF store in Tuggeranong but they are not in a position to help only sympathise and suggest the phones be set to GSM. (And we are paying for what?????)

I pity their poor employees who have to bear the brunt of consumer frustration.

So sent VF an email and of course you get the auto response in reply saying they will respond in 5 working days.

We will see Eh.

Being losing service like many others. I spent close on two hours phoning support and was very persistent in explaining how I have been let down by Vodafone, I need my phone for work which must be reliable and requested that my contract (9 mths left) be cancelled. The nice girl agreed with me and requested that I just return my hand set. Great outcome.
20 Jan 2011 09:29:20 PM: Great, now you can hopefully get a phone that works!
21 Jan 2011 04:31:24 PM: Got my new phone (same model) today on a different network - works like charm. My advice to others here. Read the comments about being nice and articulate the reasons you believe Vodafone is not providing you the service you signed up for and there should not be too many problems now in being released from contract. The people have spoken.

13050 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Ultimate FAIL at 20 Jan 2011 04:55:18 PM
I cannot express how dissatisfied I am with Vodafone's services to date. I live in the middle of Canberra (Curtin, ACT) and 9 out of 10 calls I make will drop out due to No Service. Quite often my phone will also display No Service and I am unable to even make a call. This is totally unacceptable!!!

To add to my frustration, I tried to activate Direct Debit using myVodafone online, however the system crashed (on 3 separate attempts!) and told me that I should call Customer Service on 1555. After doing this, and finally getting through, the operator told me he could not take my details and I should use the online system. I tried to explain to him that is why I was calling and as he was getting his supervisor to assist when my call dropped out ... AGAIN!!!!

I am only in my second month of a 24 mth contract, but I can tell you now I am going to be doing everything I can to get out of this. I simply REFUSE to pay for a mobile plan that I can't even make calls on!

Apparently now vodafone have 15 days to get in contact with you once your complaint has been lodged?
20 Jan 2011 11:26:20 AM: Taken from the Vodaphone facebook page in response to a query raised there:

Over the Christmas break (up until Jan 10) extended time frames of 15 working days were given to assist with complaints.

Hmmmmmmm............was it Christmas or the sheer volume of complaints??????? You decide!!!!

20 Jan 2011 12:25:33 PM: That's still 3 weeks..
15 business days.
20 Jan 2011 12:43:04 PM: But it does say up until January 10th............so presumably post 10/1/11 it is still 10 working days.............I think!!!!

20 Jan 2011 11:48:55 AM: Very little difficulty getting out of the contracts other than my time. Spent 4 hours on the phone with them on the final call of 5. No threats of the TIO or anything needed in the end. They even refunded two months of fees that my wife had paid on her phone.

12966 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Vodafone Software Fails at 19 Jan 2011 08:44:03 AM
Vodafone software is failing on my N8, they tamper with it way too much and you can never get the updates straight away to fix the bugs. If there are software issues with the phone, and you are on contract which means you will be paying your bills for a subsidised handset anyway, we should be allowed to debrand the phone and use the latest (untampered) software directly from nokia. I've heard Vodafone are the worst at phone software tampering.
19 Jan 2011 09:47:24 AM: I heard there was a known issue with some N8s out of the box - the fault being failing to charge and ultimately not switching on.
Switching to a Nokia version of the software instead of the Vodafone one won't void your warranty so you can feel confident to update it yourself. Then in the future if you want the Vodafone software put back on so you can access things like Vodafone Live! the service centre team can do it for you, or you can follow the steps on the website. Hope that helps (former employee)

12962 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is "I've 'ad enof ov them" (get it? "ad enof ov" is "Vodafone"!) at 18 Jan 2011 11:11:53 PM
Some concerns. Just wondering why some Vodafone staff have been posting here? Don't they know what this site is for? It's not a sympathy seeking site to post in. It's for angry customer complaints to vent their anger so they don't have to take it out on others. I've seen posts like 'don't abuse us in store' and 'be respectful'. Vodafone staff, can you PLEASE direct your concerns to Vodafone Australia. Don't direct it here, it will only make people do contrarily otherwise, particularly at this rate and point in time. If someone abuses you, it's against the law, so just go through the company procedures/policies and remove the abuser from the store where necessary. Call the police or security if necessary. Or close the store. As an employee of Vodafone, by law, you have OHS rights that should be entitled to you in your employment contract, so you deserve compensation from Vodafone should you be harmed by abuse, mentally and/or physically. Read your employment contracts carefully please, before you sign up to work for this highly deceptive business. With many consumers deceived, I can't help but wonder how many employees have been deceived or ignored at Vodafone Australia. Hope it explains this.
19 Jan 2011 09:51:59 AM: This is such an ignorant comment. I feel sorry for the staff - they are mostly just underpaid, teenage casuals from highschool who are only doing their best to follow rules put in place by an organisation. I think it completely fair that they can ALSO vent THEIR frustration here as long as it is not in a mean way and I certainly don't think saying 'be respectful' is inappropriate.
How would you feel if you were abused all day long online and in store for something you have zero control of?! I'm sure ultimately they are trying to do what is best for you, but it is the higher management that is making it difficult. They would NEVER have to call police or take it to HR if customers were just polite and respectful of fellow human beings as they should be
19 Jan 2011 12:16:44 PM: 'Abused all day long in store and online' They should seek help from employment rights agencies against vodafone. And yes, you do have control, you can resign and find another job where its safer. Its like how people say how ignorant we are to complain when there are many telcos to switch to. Same here. There are many jobs for high school teenagers to go to, fast food is a clear example. Additionally, how many employees are actually being abused? We don't know.
19 Jan 2011 12:22:23 PM: If you feel sorry for the staff, then join forces to make a revolt against 'abusive' customers. There is nothing I can do about it. If I must clarify, I'm not intending ignorance, my apologies if it was taken that way, but I'm just telling the staff that its best to stay away from this mean site. Is it really that hard to comprehend?

Well the troubles continue today. I decided after lunchtime to keep a log. I'll probably need a PA to do the admin!

13:30 can't connect to Internet
14:03 tried 3 times to make a call
- connection error
- network busy
- success
15:00 managed to connect to Internet but performance virtually unusable
- timed out
15:31 tried 3 times to make a call
- network busy
- network busy
- success
15:34 managed to connect to Internet but performance virtually unusable
- timed out
15:56 can't connect to Internet
- tried 5 times and gave up
18 Jan 2011 02:10:58 PM: In addition to keeping a log, I'm going to spread the word on Facebook warning people not to sign up with Vodafone. Clearly the 'Infinite' plans look attractive until you realise they don't work. All the Vodafone shops seem busy signing up customers. I feel very sorry for them. Every extra customer that Vodafone signs up cripples even further the network infrastructure that isn't coping with the current demand. I am convinced this is a network capacity issue.
18 Jan 2011 02:27:54 PM: Yep your spot on. The merge between two company client bases have caused the amount of users to go beyond the limit of their network capacity. Meanwhile Vodafone is attempting to upgrade their network towers. We need a number of customers to leave Vodafone please, to help the company not exceed capacity! Just kidding.
18 Jan 2011 03:26:09 PM: yep i know, i walked past the vodafone shop in my shopping centre today and saw at least 2 suckers signing up, felt like running in there and telling them to get out while they can!!
18 Jan 2011 08:37:11 PM: One way or another I have convinced (easily I might add) 9 people not to sign up with Vodaphone.

8 mobile 1 internet..................a result I think............but wait there's more..................to come!!!!
18 Jan 2011 09:03:53 PM: Customers on 3 and V have not merged onto the one network. This is a myth. It will happen down the track definitely but not yet. People on the Infinite plans make up a tiny percentage of all their customers again no impact. The congestion is coming from smart phone users. I read somewhere that a data session on a smart phone wipes out about 100 slots for talking and texting on a network. (Don't know if that's exaggerated or not but makes sense to me)
18 Jan 2011 09:34:53 PM: Guess that is another possibility. Interesting. Unfortunately there is a exponential growth on smart phone adoption in the market. It's going to make it worse. Damn.
19 Jan 2011 10:05:36 AM: Yup good point about - the networks are completely seperate and have not merged YET. They just have the same senior management team etc, but not the actual network. Don't even use the same signup system or billing teams or anything yet. The network is still under capacity user wise, it is just the faulty network towers that have been causing intermittent problems over the last few months. Full details vodafone website

12912 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is going up and down at 18 Jan 2011 11:51:41 AM
I would like to express some concerns. Why are people labelling this site as highly biased? It's plainly obvious that it is a site for unheard or distressed customers to complain and vent their anger here rather than at Vodafone staff. Words here have some minor profanity, but it is only what usual angry people have to say. Place yourself in their shoes, wouldn't you be just as angry with swearing involved? If this site makes customers feel better, then obviously, by using the how to complain section, they can get their problem resolved with less anger and more respect, since their anger was already posted here as a complaint. That's how I see it. However, direct or indirect racism is not Australian, so that is not right. Do not be racist here or anywhere else. Why? Because we are all humans and are a single species that have a majority of DNA exactly the same as each other. Being racist is like saying dislikes to physical limitations of evolution. We are different in ethnic backgrounds, which helps us distinguish each others' uniqueness. If people all had the same body , the same customs, and the same identity, many people would have trouble recognising each other and people would complain again. So appreciate our differences as multicultural Australians. Implying a comment about verbal accents or communication issues, which would otherwise be taken as racist, should be alright under the condition that it has a reason and explanation as to how it made your issue hard to resolve. If people want to really express how magnificent, excelling, fantastic, and marvellous Vodafone is, then go to their website forums or give them a call telling them how much you love them. They would really need that support right now. Perhaps you could create a Vodafine or Vodafantasy fan site to show your biased support for Vodafone, to make them happier in these dark times. Hopefully, people don't immediately complain about this useful post.
18 Jan 2011 12:07:19 PM: I would also like to add that Vodafone's official site is obviously biased to how great they are, for sales and assurance reasons. So just get information from Vodafone.com.au and Vodafail.com. Combine what you have gathered and you will end up with a satisfactory balanced explanation to the angel and devil of Vodafone Australia. There two sides to this issue, not one. We can't have Vodafone being seen as an angel all throughout their culminating network issues. It is up to you to decide what is the truth and what is the lie.
18 Jan 2011 01:58:27 PM: I really like your idea of a website called "Vodafantasy.com". We could all go there for a lovein celebration of all the warm huggy touchy feely things about Vodafone we have all come to love and admire. In Vodafantasy land our mobiles would work 100% of the time and LARA will have retired to Mumbai.
18 Jan 2011 02:21:01 PM: LMAO! Yeah vodafantasy is available right now under a codename: www.vodafone.com.au

This seems to be all getting out of control here, I'm seeing people disrespecting moderators, ripping into staff and trying to post info on them, people are going against the recommendations of voda-fail regarding how to complain, showing respect etc, and people are actually reveling in it, enjoying it.

the moderators must be working super hard here now, the point is starting to be lost to hate and argument and really is reducing the level of respect that it should deserve.
18 Jan 2011 05:47:03 AM: I agree with the above.

Moderator. Pls remove the 'reply to 12888' which includes references to Jews and the F word in the 'post 12892'.
18 Jan 2011 06:38:55 AM: I completely agree, moderating is taking up increasingly more time for our volunteers. It's quite sad and I hope that the tone improves, it is taking away from people's legitimate complaints and concerns.

@07:47:03 AM - I've moderated that reply, thanks for alerting us to it. We haven't got to the stage where we are moderating out swears (unless their use is excessive) but we may get there soon.

Thanks

Vodafail.com Mod

18 Jan 2011 07:00:45 AM: I am not condoning the behaviour but I think that it is reflective of people that are powerless to improve their situation (at least in the short term). They have been let down by government departments that should be protecting their rights.

Vodafone as a company continues to provide poor service, does not acknowledge their problems, is not providing any discounting to existing customers who are suffering from dropouts, poor reception, ficticious billing, poor security practices etc. Further they are making difficult to contact them to get things done about the issues. In short everything is sweetness and light from the Vodafone perspective whilst they tough it out until things improve or people stop complaining due to fatigue and it falling on deaf ears.

The balance of power is strongly with Vodafone - consumers have a contract which if they fail to pay their good financial standing is at risk. In the meanwhile there is seemingly no immediate consequence on Vodafone to provide their contracted services to an acceptable level.

Until there is visible action to bring Vodafone to account and penalise them and allow customere to leave without penalty this behaviour of lashing out will conntinue. Perhaps it really is time for either the ACCC or that useless Conroy to step in and do something.
18 Jan 2011 08:03:40 AM: To be fair the silence from Goverment and Parliament in looking into what is appearing to be a very major issue with Vodafone is deafening.
18 Jan 2011 10:41:34 AM: @ 07:47:03am - Please, that was only one swear word! The rules state 'excessive profanity' thank you very much. If you read #12892 you should appreciate what it has to say about the argument issue. It is actually more informative compared to many other posts here. Some in the past have included: "Sh!t coverage." and "Bad." without any indication as to why. Those are vague and not informative on the major issue at hand.
18 Jan 2011 10:48:15 AM: Also the post below here is a prime example of vagueness: 'does not work'.....

12892 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is not doing anything constructive with their time at 18 Jan 2011 12:56:57 AM
This was meant to be a reply to #12888 Re: 18 Jan 2011 01:26:41am, but it is a major complaint on it's own as well. So I've posted it here. Note that Vodafone employees that work in store are just about the only Australian people we can complain to in order for them to pass the message to their Australian managers, who then pass the message to the company's Australian executives (depending on VHA's management hierarchy). It is then, we hope, that the Australian executives will help resolve the nationwide network problems by implementing checks and investing in an effective, undisruptive way to maintain the network towers. So VHA store employees, please use our initial feedback and give it to the manager, who will hopefully pass it on. Since we are still having problems, it seems that the company has organisational and management issues. VHA employees (ex or not), do not immediately complain against us about abuse, etc. You are hired to represent the company and have signed up knowing that you WILL (often or not) be dealing with angry customers and TOLERATE it, NOT personally but from the company's perspective; ie. AS A HUMAN RESOURCE ASSET OF THE COMPANY, I don't know how many times I have to emphasise this. Customer service, particularly in call centres dealing with customer issues, DOES actually require a good degree of tolerance with upset customers. Don't think you've signed up for the job thinking everyday will be sunny and sales. Think again. If you don't feel safe, then resign or join us on a battle against the company. Otherwise, you won't help us since there is little evidence of taking initiative to pass the feedback to the higher ups. Do something more constructive for once in your 'morning meetings' rather than just taking menial orders. But nothing happens, so both VHA employees and customers start this unending cycle of whinging and sulking. Thus, we keep coming back, more and more aggravated that nothing is resolved. 'It was the angry customer's fault, don't abuse us,' says the employee. 'It was Vodafone's fault, they aren't resolving my issue,' says the customer. Note that customers, in most cases, intend to point the blame and abuse to the company itself, but the employees mistaken it for themselves. Hopefully, this helps clarify the typical 'back and forth company vs employee vs customer argument' that follows a company's major issues. As for Nigel Dews' plainly obvious "IT'S ALL ABOUT KEEPING THE SHAREHOLDERS HAPPY" statement to VHA employees. WHAT THE FUCK. Is that all he cares about? His salary and making shareholders happy? We can tell by the ongoing fall of the company's reputation and the ill treatment of customer services, which means the ill treatment of VHA employees, something we all don't need but is inevitable at this point in time. Once again, the CEO needs to review the company's mission statements. Nuff said.
18 Jan 2011 05:03:57 AM: customer complaints are not received in their shops, all customer complaints and such all go through customer care, as pointed out by voda-fail themselves in the how to complain section, you call. If you go into a store to make a formal complaint you'll be only wasting time while waiting to be served only to be told you'll have to call up!

Don't bother going in there, they can't do anything!
18 Jan 2011 11:06:10 AM: Thanks for letting me know that Vodafone works differently to what I stated. I wish their store staff had power to help us. It would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated.
20 Jan 2011 09:27:21 PM: No point VF enabling their store staff to deal with the problems when VF's infrastructure is the problem. Had VF pre paid mobile broadband that once worked at Marayong in NSW and the service degrade to nonexistent. 4 hrs with the help desk, fiddled with settings, upgraded VF's PC software (took 2 hrs to download the upgrade via a manually configured connection)etc was all for nothing. It just died and they, VF, don't care.

1. Impossible to keep track of spend on contract. Sometimes takes up to three days to update which often means I go over my cap and charged ludicrous amounts.
2. When I tried to arrange an installment plan to pay off one such excessive bill they took it out in one installment and sent me overdrawn.
3. Constant dropouts.
4. Useless useless telephone helpline.
5. Even more useless internet site. Fails to recognise my password, fails to recognise my new password that they just texted me and when I finally get online to check my account I get an unknown error and am told to call the useless useless useless telephone helpline.
When I am lying on my deathbed pondering my life, I will think of all the hours I have wasted dealing with Vodafone!.

12786 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is :-( assuming that only a small insignificant percentage of customers are having network service issues... at 17 Jan 2011 12:00:30 AM
Firstly, I give true credit and gratitude to the creator of this Vodafail site, and the moderator(s), for allowing us disappointed customers to vent our anger about our concerns of Vodafone. Without this site, we would remain unheard and we wouldn't know what other issues are occuring as well, nationally. With almost 13000 complaints here and counting, we can only deduce that there is a large sample size of troubled customers, since we do not know how many more customers are experiencing problems that do not post on this site. We also don't know how many of those 15000+ customers who signed up for the class action lawsuit, posted their complaints on this site. We also don't know how many customers of Vodafone Australia's approx. 4.5mil that have complained in various other ways (via email, phone, etc) excluding the internet forums, and have not resolved their issues. I've seen other people or Vodafone staff attempt to prove that there is minimal evidence of any problem with the network, by quoting the number of posts here against the total of Vodafone Australia's 4.5mil client base. That is not right and is plainly misleading. They need to reconsider the external undisclosed figures counting each customer with unresolved complaints, particularly from the call centre overseas where it should be logged. The key point is that if many customers are experiencing similar issues nationally, then there is a real problem that must be addressed, audited, and resolved. I really hope Vodafone is not purposely ignoring us just because there are only 12700+ complaint posts here, with the exception of repeat posts, posts defending Vodafone, or other undetailed complaints. Vodafone should not only take our customer data security extremely seriously, but their poor network too.

There may be some 'selfish' and indirectly 'racist' comments in previous posts, but considering the fact that Vodafone continues to ignore us, those comments are expressing our concerns about the failing network and the foreign based call centre that we can barely call. Due to the Vodafone call centre being inconveniently place many kilometers north of Australia, I can only just imagine it as a business tactic to make our calls to that call centre become dropped or not even reach them. If there are foreign employees working in there, then it is only respectful that Vodafone ensures they are well trained to speak understandable english, accent or not. If they have an indian accent but can be clearly understood, then there is no reason to imply 'racist' comments about their accent. Furthermore, Vodafone should open up an Australian call centre that is multicultural so that it caters for Australian concerns. We Australians are quite capable of being employed for call centre work. So in other words, Vodafone Australia, as an Australian company, has outsourced their call centre. So if we Australians take that in an alternate perspective, why won't they hire Australians for their call centres? Thus, we see that even Vodafone Australia is being indirectly 'racist' to us, as if we Australians are not capable for that. I will be cancelling my account with Vodafone due to their network getting worse everyday and they do nothing about it. My phone and mobile broadband needs a service to function. Does anyone know if Vodafone is doing anything with their network to fix this in the upcoming weeks? Evidence please.
17 Jan 2011 04:56:38 PM: I suspect they use cheap overseas labour with the added bonus that customers cannot understand their English, get frustrated and just let Vodaf..k walk all over them.

12738 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is STOP BEING MEAN at 16 Jan 2011 06:49:00 AM
After having worked in a call center for an electricity supplier for several years, i can tell you it's a very stressful job, half of the time people are just yelling at you, whether there was an outage or not!

For one thing the call center I worked in was mostly Indians anyways as they are the most qualified and actually are the majority of staff in what Australian call centers there are, we had many incidents of people complaining that they want Australia and not to be transfered to Mumbai, they weren't, people would just assume so.

On top of this, if your ringing a call center for an Australian company or service who's call center is in Mumbai, that means these people are working all sorts of weird hours to match our time zone.

These people have families, these people have bills to pay, these people are people, how about a new era in the call center debate, why don't we actually give understanding and respect a go, cause I can tell you from very personal experience, there is a real person on the other end and all your doing when you are being disagreeable is making someone feel bad inside!

It's really not very nice!
16 Jan 2011 07:00:48 AM: How about a bit of loyalty to your Australian counterparts who also have families to feed. It's all well and good to be a bleeding heart, but how about bleeding for us here in our country. A business is a business and can't survive without customers. To keep customers you need to provide good customer service and this can't be provided when you they don't speak the language properly or have such a strong accent that it's not understandable. Get your mind back to Australians who also need jobs to support their families.
16 Jan 2011 08:59:28 AM: HAHAHA..... Am I reading this right? It seems to me like your saying 'Business would be great if it wasnt for customers'Well we all have difficulty work hours from time to time but we do it for a reason, to provide for our family's. It isnt much fun working in Norway with 3hrs daylight a day for 3months on and 1 month off. But I accepted the terms due to great benefits. Rather than feel sorry for Mumbai staff, I would say dont take the job if yr not up for it! Or quite possibly the australian business can understand that a profit is a profit, and rather than maximise it by sending jobs abroad, keep them in house and provide a service for those in your own country that are lining your pockets.
16 Jan 2011 11:46:26 AM: The best people to give customer support are those that actually use the services themselves.

So the best way to give Voda support should be to have an Australian call centre with staff that actually use Vodafone and thus understand how the network is set up. Also such people would have a better idea about locations i.e will not think Sydney is a State and Melbourne is in a country area. So that when one rings up about a problem is Perth you are not advised that it is due to the floods in QLD.
16 Jan 2011 02:52:00 PM: is there a mobile provider that doesn't use india? If so maybe not using a mobile at all would be the answer?
16 Jan 2011 02:54:20 PM: Vodafone is not an Australian company at all! its a UK company
18 Jan 2011 04:54:49 AM: worked in a call centre, it is no ones job to to take personal abuse and personal threats from people, some of the things that have been said to me simply because they are not happy with a one way procedure that I have absolutely no control or input into and that almost no one else has any problems with.

Some of the things that have been said about me and how people hope such and such will happen cannot even be repeated.

If you really believe it is my job to have threats made against me then I think there defiantly is a big misinterpretation of basic human respect.

The company's expenses, which all go to sponsoring losing teams and not even sparing a single cent for their network. It will all change from this month forth, or maybe Vodafone won't do anything until the class action lawsuit really goes into action.
16 Jan 2011 10:36:32 AM: And then Vodafone will be spending a whole lot of money defending the suit, and when it goes against then, a whole lot more money appealing the decision. They should also be defending an action by the ACCC, and possibly another one by ASIC.And, they may rearrange things, like James Hardie and asbestos victims, and try to escape paying by moving their address offshore.

I signed up for 2 iphone 4's about 2 months ago and since then I have had major issues when we try to call people (it wont connect or drops out). When people try to call us (our phones are apparently off or out of servcie?)When sending sms's(they can take up to 24 hours to reach there destination and even longer if it's an mms)thats if the network lets you send it. When we try to use the internet it is either extremely slow or doesnt even connect! I have tried to call voda numerous times but have not been able to speak to anyone as i am left haning on hold for periods of 30 minutes and longer.......I did manage to complain via email but even then the process is lengthy. they did offer me 2 months free access though, not sure if the probelms will be resolved in that time?

insurance is absolutely ridiculous, nothing can be done upfront. It's always go through automated robot lady named Lara who doesn't understand my feelings at all :(

Even though i live in the middle of the city, i hardly get 3G reception and am always on 1-2 bars on my iPhone. As well as shockingly bad call charges, Vodafone always overprice their caps. $79 dollars per month over 2 years slowly turned into $110 per month.

Either pick up your game or lose your customers Vodfone, because you have sure lost me.

I called tech support, was told they were working on it. I have since called back and am now waiting, again, to get someone to talk to me about it.

Can't make calls at the moment. Connection failure ... although 3G is showing full reception. Can't connect to the Internet either although my phone can find the 'Vodafone AU' access point. Can't even connect to 1555 to complain!
13 Jan 2011 02:01:39 PM: I am also in Canberra this week and share exactly the same problems. I finally gave up calling 1555 after 4 x 30 minutes on hold. Vodaphone did actually respond to my email complaint, but in a fdismissive reply saying that their engineers are aware of network problems and Vodaphone is under no obligation to compensate customers for the lack of service.
13 Jan 2011 03:15:21 PM: I told them if I cant get service I am not paying my bill as they are contracted to supply a service
15 Jan 2011 04:09:26 PM: there actually are other phones in existence besides mobiles......you could call them from the home phone, and why wouln't you if your voda service is screwed
18 Jan 2011 08:37:38 PM: Some people don't have phones and must rely on their mobile phones at all times. I think it's just so bad that each of us are getting charged so much each month when we're not able to actually use it! And I can't believe that Vodafone is not prepared to compensate us (their customers) for all of these network problems!!!! 12478 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Call drop outs and txt/pxt messages never arrive at 13 Jan 2011 01:46:25 PM
I've only recently signed up with Vodafone (Nov 2010) after being with 3 for 2 yrs without a hassle. When my 3 contract was up i was basically told at the 3 store that Vodafone have taken over and to re sign up it would be under vodafone!! Now i use my phone to contact my young chidren which is the only contact i may have for up to 2 weeks at a time so to me it is extrememly important. But since moving to vodafone almost every single call drops out or loses signal imagine my frustration and my kids feelings when they think they're dad just hangs up on them :( . Also i've experienced txt and pxt messages that just never arrive!!! I could be standing next to someone and watch them hit send successfully from thier phone (did this to test)and it never comes through. I wont even start on the internet connection issues!!! i wish id never signed to vodafone.
18 Jan 2011 08:40:26 PM: I used to be with 3 mobile and then I swapped over to Vodafone because I was having network issues with 3 - in particular 'roaming' at all times & not being able to make calls. I am so disappointed with Vodafone - I've been with them just over 2 years and have renewed my contract around the same time as you. I think even though they're more expensive, I might just have to go with Telstra next time. I haven't heard any complaints about their network as yet.

They took my insurance off whilst using a replacement phone telling me that they would put it back on automatically when i received my updated phone.. Apprently this is not allowed and i was fed the wrong information. Cheers vodafone...
16 Jan 2011 05:22:07 AM: Why do people get angry and demand things from Vodafone based from a service warranty that Vodafone or any other phone company has any control over!

Phone companies don't purchase units of handsets and then decide what the warranty and repair conditions are, the manufacturer decides what happens with repair, replacement or refund, this stands for all sorts of electrical appliances and tools, it is the norm. If Vodafone are taking responsibility for it, that really means they are going above and beyond anything they would ever be required to do.

Also why have you taken up an insurance policy without reading or checking against a PDS? if you don't fully read terms and conditions for things and then sign up for it, why would you suddenly just hold someone else responsible.

I work in a Yes shop and I am absolutely sick to death of people getting angry or making demands on repairs without paying attention, people will sign a repair order which specifically states the turn around time, you ask them to read and sign, then they say "how long does it take?"

READ EVERYTHING BEFORE YOU SIGN!

16 Jan 2011 05:30:58 AM: Actually my son took up a plan with Vodafone approx 2 years ago. What the staff member promised is not what he got, when he disputed this & disagreed to pay to pay the obsene bill ($1800 for 1 month) Vodafone slapped a default on him via Veda credit services. He has since applied for loans from 11 different financial institutions & been rejected based on this default even though he had since paid it. He has complainedto the TIO Obudsman to no avail. Vodafone called him & told him they would send records relating to the default nearly a month ago & nothing has turned up & he cannot get on to them to make an enquiry. Does anyone know if there is a way to dispute the injustice of this

If he went to the TIO, and the TIO refused to have the default removed, then your son legitimately must owe the money. The TIO ALWAYS ensures that defaults placed by even the most minor error get removed

: Financial insitutions most likely will not take it into account if the default is paid or unpaid, it is the fact that it went on a default to begin with. The default may take 5-7 years to clear off the credit file. I recommend you speak with Vodafone as they can clear it from the credit file

The TIO would defiantly go into bat for you if they could, agreed he will legitimately owe the money, there is defiantly rights you have in regards to lack of service etc etc, but that doesn't usually mean you can just do whatever, this is a learning lesson to all here, you cant just port out or refuse to do stuff just cause you feel that way, not always that black and white, even Graeme samuels head of the ACCC has said this, still gotta play by the rules for now!

16 Jan 2011 11:09:10 AM: @16 Jan 2011 07:30:58 AM:This is a strange post- seems to be Q&A in one, and the A is not the usual style of the Vodafail team.
Also, twisting of statements "TIO Obudsman to no avail." is different from "TIO refused to have the default removed".
This statememnt "Vodafone called him & told him they would send records relating to the default nearly a month ago & nothing has turned up " indicates that Vodafone may have undertaken to do this, after discussions with the TIO, because, from experience, Vodafone NEVER does anything for a customer that it isn't forced to do.
Am wondering if the initial disputed bill was one of the ones where people didn't realise they were paying a fortune accessing the GPS on their phones? I heard than some telcos were forced to waive those bills.

After asking around and from my own experience I have a theory that Vodafail support simply starts ignoring you. I started my battle with vodafone a week and a half ago trying to get my coverage issues fixed, or to get them to agree to waiving any penalties when I leave. After the hours on hold etc I'm finally told my case is being escalated and I'll be called on my land line at an agreed to time to troubleshoot. Never got the call. Since that time I've promised call backs that never came (4 times), been hung up on, simply not been able to get through due to network error (4 times) or gotten through and then got the message that there is a "technical error" and I need to hang up (6 times). Now I've gotten through, past Lara and the queue and the phone has simply rung and rung and rung for 5 minutes before I hung up. They are just avoiding me now aren't they? Anyway, I'm leaving and if they charge me for leaving my contract early I'll fight them every way I can.

FOR ANYONE IN CANBERRA, USE 2G NOT 3G (NOT DUAL MODE EITHER) IF YOU CAN NOT MAKE CALLS OR RECEIVE CALLS.
This is a temporary fix.
11 Jan 2011 07:51:56 PM: +1 This works a treat in Gungahlin. Have consistant reception on 2G with iphone4 and all calls and SMS come through as I was missing calls and delayed SMS with mid/full reception on 3G. Too right though about the temporary fix.
11 Jan 2011 11:44:07 PM: So, you've paid/are paying extra for a 3G phone, and the only way you can get some use out of it, is by using 2G, (and maybe next week a long piece of string)? Keep a record of how long you need to do this, because, I think you should get a reduction in your bills. And, I think, Vodafone/s tech records should show whether your calls, sms went through on the 2G network. You may have to get an identity thief to pull them out of the system.
12 Jan 2011 06:00:45 AM: Extra to use 3G? Lies. No reduction to your bill. Take any 'advice' you get on here with a grain of salt. However I'd clog up the customer care line more if I was you so you can ask but if you're expecting a yes answer...
