Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I have been a happy customer of Vodafone for quite some time now. Was with Optus before and never had ANY reception, regardless of where I was. My problems with Vodafone only started a few weeks ago, where lost network keeps showing up on my iPhone. But have experience delayed voicemails from the start. There should be no reasons for this to happen.

5482 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 10:23:34 PM
This was the worst experience I've ever had.

I decided I wanted a new Iphone 4.
So I go to a store in elsternwick because I wanted to make sure that the plan I signed up for would include the bonus data as advertised. After I saw the representative use the website to place an internet order, I realise going to the store was a giant waste of time and I should have done it at home. I notice the guy enter my details twice, apparently a double deal they had going. I questioned him asking "I think doing that will order me 2 phones, I only want one", He assured me only one was getting ordered. I left the store, completely in doubt. So I call the Online Orders line, and after a 40 minute hold, get through. I ask to confirm that my order was for only 1 phone. Of course, it was for 2, and I had to go through the process of explaining to the online rep that it was the store rep's fault for stuffing it up.

The store rep told me it would take a maximum of 2 weeks for me to receive my iphone, 2 months later, I receive a card in the mail telling me it is ready to be picked up at Melbourne Airport. One lengthy roadtrip later, I am holding my Iphone.

When I turn it one, the Sim isn't recognized. So I attempt to call Customer service on my then current optus prepaid. 70 minutes later, I run out of credit and the call drops.

At this point I'd like to mention that ever customer service call followed the SAME LARA prompts/answers. What would you like to do? "Activate my SIM". Please provide your mobile number? "I don't have a mobile number because you haven't given me one". I'm sorry, please repeat that.
In the end, I just yelled CONNECT ME THROUGH TO AN OPERATOR until it eventually did.
And then the Operator would ask what my mobile number is, and all I could answer was "I don't know because you haven't given me one yet". Always greeted with stunned silence.

The next day, I go to a Vodafone store centre telling them of my problem. They let me use their phone to call customer service. After talking to lara, I finally get through to rep, only to have the call drop after I answered their initial "what is your name" question.

So I call back, after another 50 minutes on hold, the same thing happens.
I ask the store rep what is going on, He shrugs and says "They are having trouble with the phone lines, I should just try again later"

Optimistic, I go home, to look up the next nearest store to me. I make my way there and ask to use their phone to sort out this mess. Another 2 tries later, a total of 60 minutes on hold, and 2 dropped calls as soon as I was connected to a representative. Again, I ask the store assistants what is going wrong and they quite rudely tell me to go home and try it later.

The next day, I decided to buy more credit for my prepaid phone, hoping they had sorted their phone issues out. After half an hour on hold, and then being dropped as soon as I got through. I gave up for the rest of the day.

The next day (friday), I went to my parent's house (as they have a phone line - I didn't), and at 0930, nice and early, I call up tech support. This time (after 20 minutes on hold of course), I don't get dropped. And tell the representative what is happening. After a lengthy explanation that they haven't given me a mobile number yet and I need my SIM activated (which at this point I find out, isn't usually needed), I am told it will be operational in 20 minutes.

At 3pm, I call back, same deal, it will be ready in an hour.
At 4pm, I call back, again, it will be ready in half an hour (Support closed at 5pm).
At 4:30pm, I call back, and am on hold until 4:59, At which point, I am answered, and then hung up on due to closing time.

That monday, I go back to a store, and tell em my problem, and that they should ring up as a staff member to sort this problem out. (I was assuming they had some sort of priority line to skip the customer service queue - this is untrue). Eventually, I am told that my Credit check failed and that I would not be able to get an Iphone.

You mean this Iphone right here? - as I showed him what I was holding.
A mate of mine applied for the same plan + iphone, and was rejected on credit check (for some bizarre reason, his credit was fine).

So now I'm confused as to why I have been rejected, and yet still sent this iphone. I'm just about fed up and ready to leave (can you blame me?) - resolving to keep the iphone, unlock it, and go with a better telco, when the store rep rings up again, and this time tells me...

That my driver's licence number was input wrong.
He inputs it, and in 5 minutes, I'm connected.

It only took 2 months overdue, and a week of hassling to get my new iphone working and operational.
But now I get to experience the constant call dropouts, Data interruptions, crappy reception and horrible customer service Vodafone has to offer!

When my contract is up, NEVER AGAIN VODAFONE. NEVER AGAIN.

Recently changed to Telstra from Vodafone, best thing i ever did.Funny thing is i got a call from Vodafone asking why i left, my reply........"1: no reception..2customer service is shit..3they just don't care". Now with Telstra it's bloody great & because i linked my home phone and my wife's mobile i can call between the 3 for free and get $10 off each cap per month. so $39 per month $450 worth of call you do the math Vodafone........

ps Telstra also gave me a $200 credit for coming over.......

Me and my husband went on a plan 2 months ago, ever since then constant calls drop out. We can't hear half the time what the other person is trying to say or vise versa. Always have to run around trying to get better reception, its not like we live in the country somewhere. Internet is extremely slow and most frustrating is last 4 days straight ive had no internet at all. we got these in order to do internet banking etc and now can't even pay bills or anything due to the internet not working at all and when you call their closed or you have to wait 2 hours. My parents are also disguasted with their new plan and can never hear us and constant calls dropping out.
27 Dec 2010 10:24:29 PM: i forgot to add i've been with Vodafone nearly 10 years and was always happy untill last 1 year when they hit rock bottom.

5472 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pretty crap. at 27 Dec 2010 10:20:29 PM
I love Vodafone, for the good deals they do, and good rates and everyone in my family and friend circle is on Vodafone or a branch of.
But the customer service is shit, and some of the staffers are quite rude, and alot of them are VERY hard to understand, and they don't seem to understand YOU.
But, I am getting SO sick of my phone dropping out mid conversation, not letting me call out saying "network busy" and having to wait for another like 10 mins before I can call, not getting voicemails, texts, and texts not sending and the like.
I've never before really had a problem, but, this has recently increased and it's getting very frustrating.
Especially when my boyfriend, who is in Scotland atm, stays up waits for my call and has to wait longer because we keep getting cut out or the "network is busy" or when he calls me and my "phone is off or out of range" when it is not.
Fix this Vodafone or lose a customer who has been with you for a LONG time and always praised you.

well it really only has been happening for me in the last 6-8 months. I can sit in my lounge room on the goldcoast, and have no reception, but if i walk out side i have 1 bar, and if i go stand in the middle of the road, i get 3 bars, and thats after i have turned the 3g off on my phone, the numerous times i have had a call end with call fail message or the times i have called people only to have it not do anything for 30 secs only to have once again the call fail message on the screen come up, but worst of all was when i was on hold to them, after 15 mins it call failed only to call them back and be on hold for 1hr 45 mins, and the nice indian male spoke to me, and told me that they were upgrading the network thats why their is problems, and he did agree with me that i shouldnt be paying the amount i pay every month as they are not holding up to their end of the bargain, yeah i was shocked that one of their own workers said i should try and get out of the contract and someone will call me back the 26th of nov 2010 today is 27 dec and i am still waiting for that call!
28 Dec 2010 12:42:04 AM: I'm an Idependent ACN Representative,I understand how everyone are totally dissatisfied with the Vodafone phone, internet and customer service qualities. Our ACN customer services are incredible. You can reach them less than 10 mins pratically everytime. They are fast and effiecient and never transfer your call unlike Telstra or Optus as I heard, If you want to know more about us, contact me in my email at cengiz@acnrep.com I loves to turn UNHAPPY customer to HAPPY customer.

I'm so happy that we're all uniting in our pain!!!
I've felt alone for so long now, Vodafone have left me stranded with drop outs, months & months to get my handset fixed whilst still paying the bills and more so, RUDE service after spending hours on the phone away from work. Their best recommendation was to graciously unlock my phone so that whilst driving around the state, I could change over my sim card into a phone & service that works whilst still driving, just to talk to a client and then, when back into an area with coverage, swap back over to my vodaphone card & phone (whilst still driving) to resume my service....and apparently, this was their best offer! So good to know that I'm not alone anymore.

5461 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poorly at 27 Dec 2010 10:16:59 PM
I am so frustrated with the reception drop out! I was talking to my boss the other day and it cut out twice whilst in the middle of a conversation. How embarrassing. Another incident is it took me 20 minutes one day to make a call because it kept saying "call failure".

Its not because of a bad area that I was driving in because I have made calls in the same area before. Its really disappointing that such a large company would be having these problems but even more worrying is if we have to terminate our contract we have to pay cancellation fees handset fees....so thats not going to happen noway! This is why a website like this is very important.

I didn't really feel the pain, more my friend.

A week or so ago my friend got a new phone on the vodafone network. He let me play with it for a while, so I checked moblie internet. No connection. He freaked out, checked all the settings and nothing was wrong. Tried again, still the same problem (we were in the Melbourne CBD by the way). I pulled out my phone (on 3) and 3g was working like a charm. He then decided to make a call, which obviously failed (hardcore).

5458 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is getting worse at 27 Dec 2010 10:15:54 PM
I started off with Vodafone 10odd years ago and was always extremely happy with their service, as well as customer service. I got the mobile broadband when that came out due to needing to travel with work- 2gig a month costing $70. Was happy to pay as I didn't need to much- and the freedom of wireless internet was what I needed. I was told it would be 3G coverage within a month. 18months of constant calls with them, due to receiving internet speeds of 5kb/sec on a good day the speeds finally came up to a more desirable speed. Not once did I receive accurate information from them on when the speeds would come up- nor any compensation for only receiving 1/4 of what I was paying for. Couldn't do anything as I was on a 2year contract....

In the last year- mobile coverage has also been terrible from home. Despite being 1km away from the nearest station and being well inside their "3G" coverage zone. Dropouts would occur every call, even with 4 bars signal still showing.

I recently moved and was moving into an area that would have no signal- so contacted them to see what I could do with my contract which still had time left. Bouncing around 5 different "service" centers, and over an hour on the phone I was told there was no option but to stay on the contract or cancel it. Despite bringing up the terrible service over the past year, and my 10years loyalty with them did nothing so I told them to stick it and begrudgingly paid the $1000+ to rid myself of them for ever.

The last year I know of a good dozen or so with the same stories, and this site shows the scale of it. Good to see something to stick it to them with!

I tried to explain to my usually very understanding boyfriend of 5 years that I did in fact try to call him about an important matter...right in the heart of Sydney CBD..but kept getting NO NETWORK COVERAGE....for hours and hours. It was much later that night that it finally decided to connect. Sure sure he said...its just not possible and an argument followed as our communicating about something that day (relating to kids) was imperative. Thanks Vodafone for causing a rift between us and now I understand more. I shall direct him to this site and hopefully be absolved!!!!!

I am with 3 now merged with Vodafone.
Hugely unimpressed with the fact we used to roamunder Telstra and since being bought out by Vodafone, me and my partner may aswell have no reception!
First of all, we weren't even informed there would be a merger, because if we were I sure wouldn't have had renewed my contract only weeks before it took place!
When i went into a store to ask about another new phone to replace the new one i had just got, i was met with "Oh it isprobably because of the merge to Vodafone....Oh, i wasn't meant to tell you that". Nice, the long trem customers weren't even kept in the loop, nor given the choice to leave at end of contract.

Secondly we have called 3/Vodafone and complained to some overseas, non-fluent english speaking person who didn't even understand us, to be told our reception is fine and also got quite angry towards my husband, nice customer service! And I'm sure they can really tell from looking at a computer that we have good or bad reception.
The phone had dropped out numerous times before my husband could even get that far as to speak to a real person.
I sure hope we can all just get some sort of service with this distorted company.

She was surprised that I (being a Vodafone customer) would say such things. But like everyone else on here.. We are with 3, which I believe is now owned by Voda??? and the persistent problem is the total lack of coverage outside metro Perth. We are redirected to roaming via telstra G3 at high charge rate which all fails just outside town. So no contact throughout the most of WA. We have a prepaid telstra NextG phone which is much better. Try to get an answer from 3 or Voda and good luck. Its a problem just understanding the ESL operators and then we are treated like Kindy Kids. Fed up with second rate treatment - you bet

I signed with Vodafone almost 3 years ago and in that time have had limited reception or no reception at all. I now live 20km from Melbourne CBD and cant get reception at the rear of my house so to use my phone i must stand out the front of my house or else it will drop out. I was promised with my $79 cap oner $550 worth of credit im still only getting $550, as a result earlier in the year i ran over my cap as i was not getting the correct value. I received a bill of over $250 3 or 4 times, it took months of hounding Vodafone through their stupid customer service menu (with the stupid automated LARA) to get them to acknowledge their wrong, it then took another month or so of arguing with people that told me i was wrong before i got them to admit their wrong again and then to get compensated for the bill that i had gone over. No coverage, No Customer Service, Stuff ups on their behalf that cost customers money, im going to Optus and advising anyone i know not to even consider Vodafone
27 Dec 2010 10:21:29 PM: you know they charge GST within the cap? i had a similar problem, and eventually one guy was human enough to talk to me, he said that even though you are told you have $550 worth of credit, if you use more than $495 you're charged over your cap because that remaining $55 is GST? Wouldnt that be nice to know in advance? I figure its a way for them to screw us for more money because if we dont know then we're more likely to spend above our cap allowance. How F'd is that!!

5428 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Lousy reception costing me mmoney, business and time! at 27 Dec 2010 10:08:25 PM
I signed up 2 mobiles with Vodafone and have had mixed reaction at the start. As time progressed, the serivce got worse and worse to the point of being beyond that joke. We have called Vodafone on several occassions and even the call centres (that can hardly be understood) hang up on you and do not log the call/problem/complaint; especially when you want to escalate the problem!
Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:55:19 PM
I had a Vodafone mobile contract for over a year and had no problems apart from an occasional drop out. I even signed up for mobile broadband with them I was so impressed!

I live just 10km form the CBD and both the mobile reception and broadband are inconsistent in connection speed, service etc and calls consistently drop out or DO NOT CONNECT. Over the past few weeks, my phone keeps on freezing and rebotting itself; something which does not happen with my other phones with different providers!

According to the call centre, there are supposedly no problems and I was unique to the issue. NOT GOOD ENOUGH! I was also told by friends to turn off 3G to get more consistent reception. Why pat for 3G if it does not work.

Reception at home is less than pathetic and I WANT OUT OF MY CONTRACT AS THEY ARE NOT HOLDING UP THEIR END OF THE AGREEMENT.

3 days lost work , 5 hours on hold all for a faulty handset which would have been in their interest to replace . I've been a loyal customer for 12+ years . I was told to wait 3 months to get a new handset or pay $300 to get an upgrade . My business pretty much pays for my phone bills . One year I got no calls for my business and later found out my voice mail had disappeared , god knows what that cost me in lost sales and damage to the growth of my business . The resent time spent on hold nearly pushed me to breaking point and I know what thats like having just suffered a mental break down , I even told the operator this upon which he said I will make a special exception for you and give you a new handset , they then offered to post me a 2220 nokia the cheapest phone available , it took 5 days to arrive , not one as stated . I have since left them ! This is just a quick spray , not to mention their 'reception' !!

I have been on 'hold' for a record of around 1 hour + 45 minutes..

27 Dec 2010 10:09:18 PM: They are probably watching TV and smoking
27 Dec 2010 10:30:19 PM: I can beat that. I decided to see how far they could push it. 3hrs. Then I was told that the reason my cap was running out so fast was because they were charging me to call their customer service line. So I was being charged for the hours that I was on hold to them. Jokes on me huh.

After spending countless hours on the phone to Customer Service complaining I still get dropouts..... It is rediculously bad for business.

I work in Kingsgrove, in the very front of my building I get 100% reception, I move 30m to the east and I drop out............I am outside, the techos blamed the building I was in.......

I live in North Ryde. Sometimes the reception is very poor. When I change the settings from 3G to old GSM, the reception seems to be better, but then I cant use data. I'm on a 79 dollar cap and been with vodafone for quite some time and generally tolerant about odd drop outs and I wasnt sure if it becuase of my phone or network. I raised the issue with vodafone and they asked me to change the SIM card on my iphone which i did with no much diffference. Hope vodafone will fix this asap

3G service is virtually non existance. Many areas (painted green on Vodafone coverage map) have no 3g coverage. I live in Bankstown and work in Pennant Hills area. I virtually do not get 3G service at all. In area where the symbol 3G appears on the phone, the internet is so slow it's unusable !

Therefore, the Vodafone coverage map provided on their web is a complete misleading information.

I join vodafone on 2 years contract. Look like the iphone is the only good part. I will be taking my iphone off this crap networks after the contract expires. so Vodafone , be on notice !

5411 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is BIG BIG FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 10:00:53 PM
Thankfully I finally managed to speak to someone! After weeks of the same on hold music and literally hours each day being passed around or hung up on by the Vodafone customer service people and two complaints to the TIO I actually spoke to someone who took me seriously. My favourite line was one man who said only "Thanks for calling Vodafone" before he hung up. But my main problem has now been sorted: I am now 'authorised' to access my own voicemail and make outgoing calls, the contract that took two weeks to be installed has gone through so I now have an operating phone - only to realise that the network service is so terrible I can only make one call in every three. I am plagued by the message 'call fail'. Or by my calls cutting out.
Simply not good enough. I hate the fact that I signed up for two years of this crap. Why oh why did I do it?
Please, wont the telephone God smite Vodafone for me? Well, I guess they're doing a good enough job of that themselves.

After being with B/Soul (Optus) for 11 years, we decided to move to Vodafone in July this year (2010).....all was ok until around October when things got bad......thanks Vodafone, because of you, I am now carrying two mobile phones with me, as one is a back-up Optus pre-paid....at least that works nicely as I need to be in constant contact with the work I do.....could hardly call Vodafone a business partner... Vodafone have constantly denied problems with their network when we complained...so this is also deceptive behaviour....end

I live at the fringe of their 3G coverage. I often not receive any incoming call from my friends and families because the hand set could not decide weather it's in 3/Vodafone coverage or roaming service. So I missed all the calls and SMS until next day or two. I thought me and my wife was the only people who had a bad luck service. I'm totally wrong until I know about this website on TV tonight. I am interested in to join the fight against second/third rate services at premium price! This is worst than Telstra and ADSL2 network!

I have been with Vodafone for 4 years now and te only reason i stay is because of the cap plan and not changing my phone number. I cant make phone calls in the shopping centro's in Glenorchy, i try to send pictures and they turn up days later, i cant video call half the time to my parents ( it says it doesn't support it but then will work 10 mins later). I cant get proper reception at Brighton and i get NO reception in Collinsvale ( i use to get perfect reception). Hurry up March so i can find another plan!
27 Dec 2010 10:04:33 PM: Guess what? I had the same problem AT THEIR OWN SHOP IN SHOPPING CENTER IN EPPING, VICTORIA! I took the hand set to 3/Vodafone shop and show them, they thought I was joking until they saw it. Even the people could not believe it! The phone was turn off 3 time to reset and still could not find their network. This is really not good enough!
27 Dec 2010 10:07:22 PM: I tried changing my number - from plan to pre paid service within Vodafone. It took three months and I recieved a double bill the whole time. When someone finally took me seriously enough to refund my money they refunded it as credit on the canceled account and then charged me postage for the paper bill even though I had opted for paperless billing. It's easier to get a new number.

After being a loyal Vodafone company account customer since 1996 I have paid this company literally tens of thousands of dollars over the years only to be treated as I was a first time pre-paid customer! After complaining recently (Nov) I was credited a whopping $10 per month for the next 24 months because they stuffed up my monthly account so badly and since Aug have offered drop outs during calls, delivered voice mail 4 days after the call was logged, charged for listed "free" calls, offered little to no coverage and generally drove me close to suicide. But alas one month later nothing has changed at all! In fact WORSE THAN EVER! I am soooo ready to leave these incompetent fools that I am ready to walk! In todays business age I am astounded that the management of this company is prepared to treat its customers in this manner. Have they not heard that it is 10 times harder and 10 times more expensive to get a new customer than it is to retain existing customers! I'm very shitty with Vodafoney and will act with my cheque book.

We were promised at sign-up that a new tower was being installed within 6 mths. 2 years passed with no upgrade. We were then promised 3G as well. Still nothing to this day. In fact coverage became so bad, even in the CBD, that once we were inside a building, 0-1 bar coverage. We had to stand in the carpark to make business calls. PATHETIC!

Telstra gets a bit of flack every now and again but their network and service is the best by far. Sure you have to pay a little extra but it's worth every cent, in fact I think Telstra could charge double what Optus/Vodafone charge. There is nothing more frustrating that bad mobile service and my experience and reading through this thread Vodafone have a lot of answering to do.

AFTER ALL THAT These idiots at VODAFONE sent me Bills for $500+ , $490 , $395 , $695 ....ETC ETC .. month after month . The problem was i cancelled my contract with the simcard that was never conected and for some strange reason they sent me bills when i never used there service and offcourse i never paid for those bills which i still have in a large box.It was after threatening to take them to todaytonight and a current affair with the bills that they left me alone.

Im with 3 network now and its a shame that vodafone is now a partner with 3 which means i will cancell and payout the remainder of my 3 contract and go to another service because of the hell these idiots at vodafone put me thru about 2 years ago.

I joined Vodafone about 2 years ago and have hardly used any of my calls usage because I have hardly had any coverage. Also, if I did manage to call out or receive a phonecall, it would drop out. The first time I rang Vodafone customer service I was advised to take my simcard out and re-insert it. When I did that, I had full coverage. This worked well for a couple of days and then the same problems again. I rang Vodafone customer service again and was rudely informed that I had already called them about the problem and to try the same method again.
This made me angry and I went into the shop to cancel my Phone plan.I was told that it could be a handset problem so I "upgraded" to a new handset. Now already into my 12 month of my 2nd 24 month contract(which I regret), I have minimum coverage and have wasted my money on a bogus substandard service.

Also, I can't acess my data pack which I pay $10 monthly. More money down the drain. Nobody calls my number anymore because they never reach me.

5342 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Terrible at 27 Dec 2010 09:41:38 PM
I recently switched to vodafone from optus because they had a good deal on one of the phone model which i was after. Within weeks i realised i made a very big blunder by choosing that awful network. My phone sows that there is no network coverage in most of places like my home (which is really annoying), in my suburb (In Point cook) and even in shopping centre. Signal strength is not even low i would say but is zero. Tried calling customer service and waited for hours and hours but ended only in vain. In whole, whenever i am in need of phone all i have got is only a mobile with no network coverage. Damn vodafone.

5341 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Bloody hopeless at 27 Dec 2010 09:41:36 PM
I have a litany of complaints about the service and the network (or lack there of)

1. I regularily get random call dropouts
2. I sometimes get "the number you have called has been disconected" Interesting considering that usually when I call again, I get through, or get a busy signal or get nothing at all. I have even called my own mobile from my work mobile and got that message.
3. Friends complain that they are unable to call me for days.
4. Often I am waiting for a connection after dialing a number, but when I look at the phone screen, the call has been terminated.

I know it is not my phone - I have swapped my SIM with my work blackberry and get the same issues. I swap it with my old Nokia, same issues.

I work for one of the major telcos, (not vodafone), and can confirm it is indeed a network issue. Probably overload from excess data traffic. ie.. The network has not been properly scaled up.

We signed with vodafone about 3yrs ago for mobile usb internet. Our first contract modem didnt work after 12 months which was not within our 12month warrenty so to have internet we were adviced to resign to get a new modem otherwise there was nothing else they could do. so we did now with the next modem we have had to get a new one on warrenty because it was not working either. we got the new modem about 1 week ago now it is still doing the same thing it will connect then will let u browse but then all of a sudden will drop out and we have no coverage so have to disconnect and reconnect for it to work. it is sooooooooooooooo stupid i hate it we pay to use it and it doesnt work!!! every night for as long as i can remember now i will have to connect and reconnect about 3-5 to actually use my internet, some times it doesnt even let me connect it wont give me the option. we live in mandurah and we only get 2 bars of reception and thats not even 3G its crazy!! y should we have to pay for something and not be able to use it. we have a contract for INTERNET USE and we CAN NOT USE IT!!! how is that right??? we will NEVA resign with them again....

I an constantly plagued with the message Network Lost You selected cellular is no longer available please select another "yer right". I went into one of the shops and they said because the 3G is multitasking if you have too many apps open this upsets the signal. I want to exit the plan but because I have 10 months to go it will cost me $690 to do so, I have just emailed "them" to see if I can get out early so I will see what happens.

They told me I would get 98% coverage around Australia and that my their lines are amongst the best because they share their lines with Telstra's 3G network. I SAY BULLS**T TO ALL THE LYING COMPANIES AND THEIR CRAP GIVE US THE TRUTH AND STOP WITH YOUR GAMES WITHOUT US YOU WOULD NOT BE AROUND.

I'm in a busy shopping area in north ryde in Sydney. My work friend who is not with vodaphone has full reception, I have one bar and if I try to make a call it will drop out. This ain't no country town, this is north ryde- the silicon valley of Australia! And I can't make a call!!!

5331 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is culpably negligent at 27 Dec 2010 09:35:05 PM
For some time I've experienced constant dropouts, poor coverage even in a city environment (forget breaking down on a road and needing assistance!). More recently my setting were mysteriously changed so that I get no calls (straight to voicemail), no notification or record of missed calls or voice messages left, messages received up to 24 hours after being sent... and so on. Assistance was great at one shop where he fixed the settings and checked it... guess what.. gone again then 24 hours later some messages come through. I potentially missed out on work and replying to people to buy the house I currently rent. I get charged for having voicemail and accessing it even though I can't get the calls... and now I will have bigger charge because they lost the setting on my 'best mate' rate. No wonder all my friends have left vodafone.. and I'm next!!

5330 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is a steaming bucket of piss at 27 Dec 2010 09:35:01 PM
I dumped my Vodafone contract because I thought the network didnt exist! I genuinely thought I had been scammed, is their network plugged in? I couldnt find one. Every contractor that comes to my house says 'I bet theres no reception here'. When I ask them why, they all say theyre on Vodafone! Their help line doesnt work, their network doesnt work and their staff don't seem to be too bothered about whether it works. And I bet they dont have Vodafones.

Sue them, fine them and then kick them out of the country. Therye affecting Australia's image. I told a friend overseas about this and they said Australia is seen as a backwater and a bit of a joke in business circles, because of poor communications and general flakey infrastructure. How do they get that impression? VODAFONE!!!

5329 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Greedy Fail at 27 Dec 2010 09:34:59 PM
Have been a VF customer (prepaid)for 7yrs, moved to post paid(contract) and have poor quality of service by means of extended wait times of each call to VF (45+mins) which is a cost to me.

specific issues:
1. Poor reception in areas that are advertised by VF as standard coverage.
further resulting in sporadic loss of signal and no network coverage.
recently had death in family and I could not reliably contact or be contacted by members of family and friends due to poor network issues, even when VF has advertised on their coverage maps that the area has standard coverage.

2. over 3 hours down time trying to contact staff at VF to resolve issues.
3. upon receiving my contracted handset, there was no documentation about the contract, I was unable to use the phone for many days even though it was reported on the box the sim was in that it was already activated. rang the TIO after spending many days trying to contact VF, it took 1week for VF to contact me.

4. Billing anomalies such as some service I have never requested.

I want to drop VF as my carrier and may do so, through due legal process as i think they have voided their contract of service to me with false advertisement on network coverage.

It is greed that fuels VF machine of industry, such a shame that the course of events such as AU government selling of tel$tra forces some citizens out of necessity (pure cost factor) to do business with Telco not australian.

5327 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 100% at 27 Dec 2010 09:34:25 PM
Moved from optus to vodafone, BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!!!!!!!! Reception is really poor. Spent way too much time on hold with these pirates and have got absolutely nowhere. They won't reply to emails and won't help at all. They reckon they need to investigate the reception in my area(ipswich, QLD) but i think they'll say it's all good and they'll dodge having to do anything. I am embarassed to say i have 2 phones and internet with them, i'm trying to get all 3 cancelled so i can go elsewhere. Hopes are low.
27 Dec 2010 09:41:40 PM: I feel your pain. They TESTED/INVESTIGATED the reception in my area, came back with "oh, we can't see any problem here. can you please go to areas half an hour away from your place, to make sure it's not your USB broadband problem?". Guess what, it WAS their network problem. Don't bother helping them with their "investigation", it will only lead to more pains. Just cancel & go somewhere else if you can.
28 Dec 2010 12:57:19 AM: I'm an Idependent ACN Representative,I understand how everyone are totally dissatisfied with the Vodafone phone, internet and customer service qualities.

5325 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Extremely Disappointing ... not what I signed up for! at 27 Dec 2010 09:34:01 PM
After moving across from the terrible customer service I'd been having from Telstra, I looked forward to the 'exceptional coverage' and great customer service promised to me by Vodafone. Couldn't be further from the truth! Between no signal 3km from the city, countless calls dropping out (and having to incur charges to call them back!), voicemail arriving days after it was first left, intermittent signal (often only 1 bar on my iphone in the middle of the city) and waiting 40 minutes on hold to call vodafone technical support and giving up. How the heck am I meant to rectify the issue if their staff are out of reach? The game's over Vodafone, how about you meet me halway and actually PROVIDE ME THE SERVICE YOU KEEP SLUGGING ME FOR EACH MONTH????

5324 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor at 27 Dec 2010 09:33:37 PM
I am a departmental head in a regional hospital in NSW. On a plan with Vodaphone with a Samsung SGH F480-V phone. I'm on-call one week in five but the reception is so poor at my home that on occasions I have to go 50 metres up the street and stand in the road to take and make calls without the signal dropping out. After having to do this in the rain one weekend I called Vodaphone to discuss changing the phone as a first step to see if that would make a difference. Even though I work in a 'mission critical' healthcare position and the ability to call me 24/7 during the on-call week, there was no assistance whatsoever from the company. I would have to break my contract, pay the exit fees etc etc. The hospital provided me with a long distance pager as an alternative and now I'm just waiting out the last few months of my contract to be able to jump to Telstra, and it can't come soon enough!

5319 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is utter failure at 27 Dec 2010 09:32:08 PM
Major trouble with lack of data reception using USB mobile broadband modem and "attempting" to access the web while being in the middle of the CBD in adelaide. Trouble started within 1 month. Had to replace modems. Problems cropped up in another one month with the new modem and took about 6 weeks of nearly daily calls to the service centre with lame and non-concrete promises with no time frames for actions (not to mention the 30 min wait time before you can talk to anyone). After much painful interaction with the junior call centre staff finally got to the managers and got the connection disconnected. Lost one months' payment; luckily did not have to pay the early termination fee. But 10 months later got a call from a third party debt collecting agency asking me to pay up the whole money due for the supposedly 2 year contract. Absolutely blood boiling and painful.

My calls drop out and I find it difficult to download emails. It is very frustrating especially as it happens mostly at home. My husband is connected to 3 and gets a great reception. I would not be connected to Vodafone if it wasn't the only network currently offered by my employer. With 4,500 employees there is a giant move from everyone to pursuade our employer to move providers. It can't come fast enough. It is very frustrating to have such great technology and not have it performing at its best.

As my husband is a Postie I always want him to have access to a mobile phone for emergencies & alike. He was 'sucked into' purchasing a fancy new mobile with Vodafone & the reception was total rubbish. I was texting him whist sitting in bed next to him & he would recieve the notification the next day. I also needed to contact him urgently about a serious medical issue & he couldn't be reached due to lack of reception. We were disgusted at the way we were treated from the Vodafone staff both at the Call Centre & in the shopping centres. In the end, we paid heaps to get out of his contract & straight away bought a new plan with a competitor. Since then, no problems at all!!!
