26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

6764 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is SUPER FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 04:24:21 PM
Since renewing my contract with Vodafone and getting a new smart phone earlier this year, the service level has gone done and down and down. I live in Brisbane in a inner city suburb and if I am in my house my calls will drop out over 50% of the time, data and internet is so slow i will often need go do some shopping/mow the lawn etc just to pass the time while waiting for a page to download!

I come down to the NSW South Coast each Christmas to see my family, and this year I have been here over a week and my phone calls are staticy and extremely low quality ALL OF THE TIME. Around half of all calls will drop out before I am finished on the call. The Data and internet access is COMPLETELY NON EXISTANT HERE, i have been trying to get service to work for about 6 days now and all my phone can say to me is tell me that the origin server is bad. The origin server is not bad, its NON EXISTANT, there is no service, period!! I am absolutely disgusted with my new plan and want out, but I will not be bothering to call Vodafone again as I dont have time to wait on hold for hours only to be told by someone in another country that it is basically MY problem not theirs!

both Voda and 3 are full of crap. Until 3 months ago I had really good mobile broadband. Now most days I wait half an hour to download a few emails, some days my download speed is 2kbs and a waste of time trying to upload. Customer service advice is my area is heavy usage area and 3 has no intention to upgrade the network, all upgrades will only be to the Voda network. Do I wish to change to Voda? My answer to them is they have 7 days to fix the service and supply me what I pay for or I go to ACCC and Telecomunications Ombudsman and Consumer Affairs. How about a class action here in South Australia against both 3 and Voda as they are the same company now according to the bills I get.
28 Dec 2010 03:56:47 PM: 3 Mega coverage used to roam to tel$tra Next G when coverage was poor or out of metro, then 3 changed software to favour voda before telstra. Since then there are pockets where the phone is so screwed up it trys for poor voda rather then good tel$tra. If you having probs tell them to cancel the contract or you will got to the TIO ( thanks tio, helped me control the phone companies)

I was convinced to transfer to vodaphone from 3 mobile broadband. Was told no extra cost to me...yeh right.19 dollars a month for 8 gb for 3 months then 39 dollars the next 9 one year contract. All good except 5 days later i get a bill from vodafail for 66 dollars for 5 days broadband use. Then i try and contact them via phone,on hold 30 mins twice was enough for me so reported it to ombudsman here in adelaide,Was told a hold has been put on that amount and someone from vodafail would ring mewithin 10 working days, that was almost 3 weeks ago.so very unaustralian this mob, never do they keep their promises, avoid at all times is my advice.Any company that does not have their call centre in australiashould not be used.

Got offered to change from 3 to vodafone wireless broad band and get a free modem and 1st month free. I live 3 mins away from the CBD and got only 1 bar reception from vodafone! Virtually useless. Then got a bill before the month ends and was told by the recorded message when I call vodafone that they are charging the next bill in advance. They didn't tell me that when I switched!! They actually said if I decide to discontinue before the month ends, I will be charged nothing. They have recorded the conversation, I wish I had..... Now I'm paying $30 for a service I couldnt use. Even worse, spent 2 hrs on the phone to wait to speak to someone to cancel my service!

Can someone explain the following? I am with Just Mobile who use Vodafone as their carrier and I have no problems with drop-outs. My wife is with 3/Vodafone (has been with them for about 3 years). She has continual dropouts in the house except for 3 or 4 special spots which are OK. This has occurred from the beginning (ie independent of the 3 takeover/merger of Vodaphone. There are no drop-outs outside. The phone was checked at least twice by 3 Tech Support and found to be OK. The reason we stick with 3 is that for our call pattern they have the best deal so we just put up with having to pick up the phone and run to a good reception area when it rings! We live at Flagstaff Hill and we have a friend with 3 at Happy Valley who has exactly the same problem.

I am IN Toora Vic, No coverage for 40km great, went on holiday no phone or net coverage, had to buy Dodo prepaid so I can keep in touch with my business.
I am from adelaide, Calls drop out all the time, and costs me to re call, I had to up grade to unlimited, Now I see why and I ask why should I have to pay for the extra costs of the extra calls due to their drop outs.

They even Billed me 3 months later for a mistake they made but they could not explain why they did it, It cost me hours and phone calls even going into a service centre to get no answers, They committed fraud by charging my account for there mistake with out seeking my permission first, they seem to be cheaper but due to the extra calls you need to make and the lack of coverage, I believe they are more expensive and not worth dealing with at all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two and a bit years ago, I left Vodafone as I hated the horrible service, Laura The Idiotic Robot, and the plans. I was very punctual about paying my bills ahead of time and was in credit by $33.91.

I called to request my refund but the CSR refused to give me back my money. I spoke to his boss, who claims that even though my bill is in credit, because I paid by Bpay, there is no proof I was the one who paid my own bill. Therefore, they did not have to give me a refund. I asked if they have a charity that I can donate my money so that they don't have to give me a refund (this is common with a lot of organisations). Apparently Vodafone doesn't do charity.

I work in a call centre and despise people who loose their temper and have a great deal of empathy for call centre workers. In my whole life I've lost my temper four times - and sadly, this was one of the times I lost it. It had been a very frustrating phone call, the supervisor was very rude and unhelpful and refused a very legitimate request - to give me back the money they owe me. He finally admitted that the reason he wouldn't give me my money back is because he didn't want too. If he worked for my company he would get fired.

I called Australian HQ to make a complaint about him and to get a refund. Apparently he gave me a fake name, a fake department and (most seriously of all) there was no record of my call. I was transferred to an internal department to organise the refund by cheque.

Two and a bit years later, I'm still waiting for my money back. I'm getting constant emails and texts telling me my bill is due and I'm $33.31 in credit.

I know it isn't much money, but I'm sick of the emails & texts but most of all I'm upset that I was told that I wasn't allowed my money back, because there was no proof it was me who paid my own bill.

On another note: why do they have voice recognition that doesn't work? Laura expects one to be in a quiet room with absolutely no background noise & can only direct the customer to pay bills. Who sits at home all day to call a robot? I don't have that much time to waste.
28 Dec 2010 01:33:35 PM: Sounds exactly like the treatment I received! I wonder what the training is for these customer service members are... how to be rude and arrogant seems to be the first thing they learn.
I was sworn at by a call center staff member and called a liar... 3 days later when I called again I actually swore for the first time ever on a call to them and they promptly hung up on me. All I said was I'm over the S**T - The staff member called me a F**KING S**PID B***H....
28 Dec 2010 07:05:09 PM: That's... beyond words!

I am on a contract with crazy Johns for 24 months paying $79 for unlimited plus home broadband which is barely useable. I end up using everyone elses phone as mine does not work in so many areas . I do not have a land line and to trouble shoot i need to turn off my mobile and use a landline or go into a crazy John store. After 5 minutes on the phone repeating himself the operator disconnected me. Or maybe i t was just the lousy service. This is dangerous as this is my only phone. Scary that a company can get away with operating under false pretenses.

I work all over SA, no matter where I go I have the worst service known to man kind. Trust me, I didn't sign a contract for a piece of fucking shit. In normal conditions I can receive no reception for up to 8 hours in metropolitan Adelaide. Furthermore, their 3G data services are a fucking joke. I know I didn't ask about the cunt full of cold water service when I first signed up.

Plus, add to this the standard Vodafone bullshit like having a different contract version on their site than they made me sign (the online one doesn't include their obligations to me) the one that I signed did. Fuck you ASSHOLES! Ring up to ask for the contract? No worries with a 53 MINUTE WAIT! WHAT THE FUCK!

Just because of the SAD connectivity, the battery life of my iPhone is shit. With a full charge it wont last for more than 9 hours - standard usage (Few songs on my way to work and few games during my 45 minute lunch break). This is truly a mess. And when I wanted to make a phone call using my other SIM, guess what PAY $75 to get the phone unlocked. **** you vodafone.

I have used the pre paid option for ages. However, in the past year the problem of calls dropping out at any stage of my conversations is now a daily thing. This means I have to be making calls back!!!! Making the extra calls means I go through my credit quicker. I tried to have this resolved but was told to just take the sim out wipe it and put it back in.
So where do I stand in regard to Vodafone ???? Can someone please tell me

6368 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is call drop outs and delay in Text Messages, plus delay on emails to mobile at 28 Dec 2010 10:31:47 AM
I am in Adel city area, we have 4 mobiles on our plan, the delay in receiving Text Messages in these tec advanced days is just unbelieveable, because we don't get a reply to our Text Messages or emails, we are forced to make a call, we get charged for both. The delay in rec'ding and sending emails to and from a mobile, I am sure that sending a Memo/letter by Australia Post could be faster.
Another problem that I have spoken to Vodafone about over years, is that sometimes I have monthly periods that I travel to NZ, and delays in rec'ding Text & emails, and the call drop-outs to my Mobile is that bad that I now have purchased a cheap Mobile in NZ to make calls and have to arrange with a Customers for emails to be sent to me. I have suggested to Vodafone Aussie that they talk to Vodafone NZ about arrange a cheaper prices for Vodafone Customers on both sides of the Ditch, but that idea seems to hard, the costs between the 2 countries with a ditch in between is just out of this world, A very upset Vodafone customer since 1998

it is the worst mobile internet ever, we were told that the coverage in our area was exelent but it has the lowest frequancy , and even sometimes we dont even have any.
the customer service is worse , it takes them more than 30 mins to answer the phone.
our bills are always more than 100$ even tho we never go over the limit and when we called them they said the usage counter "is not 100% acurate".

6195 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Badly Failed at 28 Dec 2010 08:57:01 AM
My hubby and I moved from VIC to WA and were recommended to change carriers as the one we were previously with were predominantly for City use so we changed to Vodafone and we can't even get reception at our house, which is in a residential area, i have to walk out to the street, where there's no buildings, trees etc. to try and get a phonecall or send a text Arghhhhhhhhh!!!!!! We strongly recommend that you do not go ahead with the purchase however if you have already paid for this item but haven't received it, you need to act quickly to get your money back.Luckily hubby's got a work mobile and we use the landline at home but what a waste of 2 x contracts :(

I have crap reception pretty much everywhere except when standing near a phone tower. I don't receive text or email until 3 or 4 hours after the other person has sent them and in some cases not at all and when i had a problem with my bill it took me about 5 calls and about 3 months to their call center to fix the problem. So frustrating!!!

6142 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is VERY BAD at 28 Dec 2010 08:26:35 AM
I cannot take calls from my house at all as they always drop out, my friends don't ring me on my moblie anymore as they know it drops out. I always have to ring them back from my home phone. But to make it worse I got a phone whilst in NZ and it has international roaming through Telstra and it has full reception at my home. The phone also drops out in the city and I nearly missed a job interview because of this, do they do this so people call back and have to leave a message so we all have to get our messages, as they get money for this. When my son tells me what is wrong with your phone as it always drops out, well only another 18mths left on contract and I will be seeing how much to pay out as this phone is costing me..

6117 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Deteriated at 28 Dec 2010 08:12:12 AM
We used to own a vodafone store, and could see the writing on the wall.
i warned and warned that as a store we were riding a wave of disgruntled telstra customers and when that wave stopped Vodafone will be in trouble.
i could see it happening from reduced commisions to a degedation of customer care. we as a store were effectively destroyed. Now i am out and about and get tired of dropped calls , useless data. Try and check your emails or surf the web. The web page will just hang and hang. All telstra needed was some good plans and then telstra can ride the back of disgruntled vodafone customers.

My husband and i have contracts with 3 who were bought out by Vodaphone. We left Vodaphone to go to 3. We have bad reception and at times cant here each other in metro Adelaide. Our phones also drop out on occasion. Its the biggest backward step for a telco since mobiles were invented. As soon as our contracts are up we will be changing over for good. Very disappointed.

6062 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 28 Dec 2010 07:48:11 AM
I'm on prepaid so I could change to another company if I wanted too. But I don't. Up until vodafone bought '3' the service was great, after they moved the '3' network to their network it all went to hell in a handcart. My internet goes up and down like a wack-a-mole game which is amazingly frustrating, and I now have dead spots on my mobile coverage despite living in an area that has total coverage.

6023 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Regular data drop-outs at 28 Dec 2010 07:33:05 AM
About 6 months ago I was a happy customer with 3, until one of their changes put me into a black spot. I rang 3 multiple times until they at last admitted that it was their problem. They offered to swap me over to the comparable Vodafone plan free of charge, which I accepted. They claimed Vodafone coverage was perfect in my area Prospect (inner Adelaide metro area). But after signing up, it soon became apparent that Vodafone data service was patchy (regular drop-outs). I have become so used to these drop-outs that I have a command prompt window open with a command continually pinging the web ('ping /t <site>'). From this I can verify that a regular drop-out has occurred. I also know where the best signal in the house is and can only use the laptop there!

6022 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Deplorable Service (3G) and Billing at 28 Dec 2010 07:32:25 AM
3G Service (Coverage/Connection): Connection ALWAYS drops out... I always have to disconnect and reconnect repeatedly... time-consuming and very frustrating...

Customer Service: A CALL TO VODAFONE TAKES A WHOLE HOUR!! HOLD TIME TO GET ANYONE IS ALWAYS 20+ MINUTES!! Then you have to wait another 10-20 minutes in order to get the RIGHT someone!! I have problems but don't have the time to sit on the phone 20 minutes to finally get someone!

Billing: I ordered the service in September 2010 and never received a bill. In 3 months, NOTHING... I kept trying to view my statement online, but the feature wasn't working. I wanted to wait for something from Vodafone because I didn't want to pay for a call and sit there for an hour waiting for resolution - I just don't have that kind of time. I had begun to assume that bills came out quarterly UNTIL THE SERVICE WAS DISCONNECTED for seemingly no reason. Then I tried to call for 4 days in a row to find out what was going on and connection to the call center from Adelaide was down... I had assumed that the lack of service was because of a massive network failure. I then got through, after a week, paid the balance I was told over the phone with the late charges waved, to have a bill FINALLY COME THREE WEEKS THAT INCLUDED $50 of LATE FEES!!! I don't agree with it, but I paid it... who would I call and what would it solve?

6012 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Extremely Fail. at 28 Dec 2010 07:24:29 AM
Almost with out fail, every time I answer my phone, no one is there, I constantly have to ring people back because of this, and half the time that never connects either. I send texts that some people never receive, or they get days late. One extreme, my husband tried ringing me one day, as my phone went to go to voice mail, some how, an Asian man answered?! How the heck does that happen? Rang vodafail to ask how something like that could happen, I was on the phone for over 2 hours, and got no help whatsoever! I thought I was the only one having these issues, I am just so sick of them! :(

Was told by a vodafone rep that I would NOT be charged text messages while I was in the UK but charged for the phone calls. I purchased a UK phone to make the calls and used my aussie vodafone to text people. Then found a bill over $200! I tried to contact them about not being too please with the information I was told but no response. Tried to email but kept getting 'it is in the system' type responses which then said "we have not heard from you for 48 hours and now assume the problem has been fixed'. Problem was definately NOT fixed and still had problems getting through. On hold for ages. I would like to get out of my contract early but it will cost too much. Looking forwrad to signing up with another company. NOT HAPPY.

5945 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Frustrating at 28 Dec 2010 06:49:47 AM
I live in Adelaide's North Eastern suburbs and switched to Vodafone about 14 months ago after being a Telstra customer of over 18 years. Took out a $124 plan which included mobile internet (via USB modem). Having switched to Vodafone my wife also takes a $30 prep paid plan also.

I'll say from the outset that the Technical service received has been excellent - much better than Telstra but the phone and internet coverage, particularly in my area has been very disappointing. Running a small business from home, I find that I cannot have a decent conversation without fear of dropping out (which usually happens). I've actually given up on the trying to get reliable coverage through the USB modem and put it down as a bad investment!

I sent an email to Vodafone reporting the problem and seeking some advice of proposed system upgrades which may improve these services, particularly in my area. To their credit, I received a reply within 24 hours stating that there were no planned upgrades to these services - which means one of two things. Either I will attempt to opt out of my plan and switch back to Telstra or Optus or, if this is not possible, wait until it expires in October 2011 and put up with the the poor frustrating service.

This is a pity because I have found Vodafones customer service to be 100 times better than that of Telstra, but Telsra's reliability is 100 times better than Vodafones - even though you have to pay through the nose for it!

I bet that Telstra are rubbing their hands wathcing this whole episode unravel.

5887 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Voda network seriously poor and has never delivered as promised. at 28 Dec 2010 06:24:50 AM
As a business user, I left Optus because we lost our local account manager. I switched to Vodafone because a Voda agent (local) promised us we'd always have local support if we had problems. This is has ALWAYS been the case. This has been almost three years. Thanks Red Mercury.

To those complaining about specific phones (particularly iPhones) their poor reception and antennas is well documented. It is your fault. I also chose a phone that delivers poor reception in my home. The good ol' Nokias power on. Suggestion is research the antenna and transmission power.

Now the buckets: the promised expansion to the actual VODA network and increased data speeds have never eventuated. I thought it would be OK as I'm not normally "too far" away from what I believe to be metro or reasonable regional locations.

Data speeds for wireless internet access in Sydney are rarely HSDPA (normally 3G only) and one of the worst locations is the airport (where you really need it). Coverage in Newcastle NSW was hopeless and we're talking one of Australia's largest cities.

What burned me most (as I do travel extensively) was a total lack of coverage (on both phones) at Heathcote in Victoria, a significant regional town in a significant regional area (Bendigo). Heathcote is not much more than 100km from Melbourne, yet reception is only picked around Lancefield.

Forget it if you want to go down the Yorke Peninsula (SA) once you're past Ardrossan. Point to point across the water it is less then 70km so not hard to fire a signal straight across the water. Telstra doesn't seem to have problem getting down there.

Oh, and don't let me forget that Vodafone itself called me to try and poach the business away from their own agent that had supported our business well over the life of our contract. Shame on you vodafone.

We are just deciding what to do now... stay with Voda (for the beaut agent customer service) or take the plunge and go to Telstra for the superior coverage.

But like most here I HATE offshore call centres. So if I can get a local account manager, the decision is likely made.

5836 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is near complete fail at 28 Dec 2010 06:01:53 AM
i've been a customer since 2000 and the reception in the last 3 or so years has been bad. even when i'm calling from city to city, i have dropouts. even within seconds of the receiver answering the call. personally, i think they want to make money from connection fees. sometimes i have to call 4 times just to have a conversation.

the other issue is MMS. i sent a picture of my new puppy to some friends and i got messages from some people - one person received the message SIX times! others 2, others 4, the lucky ones got it once.
i tried to complain and called 1511 and after battling it out with voice activated lara, i got to talk to someone in a call centre overseas. she pretended not to hear me when i starting making the complaint and get this - she said that she can't hear me and the connection must be faulty (tell me how can a telecommunications multinational be allowed to have poor connection to the phone help desk??????) - then started reciting "please call back during the business hours of ..." to which i was appalled and tried to get her to 'hear' me, she repeated herself again.

then i said - "you're lying"
to which she replied (with perfect timing as if she'd heard me) - "goodbye"
ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

so i decided to call again and after waiting for 30 minutes, gave up.

so i emailed complaints. they gave me the run around. eventually after being passed through 2 people, i was advised to call yet another stupid number. i give up!

i have decided to pay for the MMS's and switch telcos as soon as my blasted contract is over.

i don't normally get riled up but this multinational is really giving me the expletive.

Hi
Vodafone ,Three broadband connection $49 cap for 24 months , so not possible to come out of the contract due to huge exit fee .
Connection is such that it will not remain stable for more than 15 minutes , speed drops , gets disconnected . One hr work takes 3 hrs
Broadband modem hardware have pathetic quality goes bad every three months . Even in warranty the customer service refuses to change it and asks to buy a new one for $50 .

It seems Vodafone is either making too much money or the business of a Telecom operator is un viable that they have to retort to practices which are no less than cheating the customer .

Thanks for providing the forum to at least vent out

I took a package deal with mobile phone and nett.My phone drops out on the odd occassion but my net just doesn't last long at all when I have logged on. I have poor reception where I live and it is a local suburb of Adelaide. My signal strengh is Zero to one bar abd even after 15 calls in as many weeks I still have no internet that I can rely on. After many calls and promisses of it being fix they then told me there working on the problem. I went and bought an external antenna which at the location I bought it improved my recieption. Got home and it didnt change a thing. After many hours of running between Voda Fone shop and phone calls I still have little to know internet. When I asked about getting out of the plan I was told that because there looking into the problem they wouldnt waver the disconnection fees. So I am in limbo. Just have to keep putting up with the bad service.

I have been using vodafone for about 5 or 6 months now and i have come to realise making the switch to them was not the best idea. I made the switch because of their great cap plans and good deals in which they offered, not realising, the coverage they had was very poor. Since I have switched to them, I would say it has been at least once a week where the signal would cut out for at least a few hours. I know it is not just my phone because I have friends within the same town that have experienced the same thing at the same point in time. I am also becoming annoyed at the usage of the internet on my phone and the either slow speeds, "timing out" or "no response" messages I keep receiving when using the feature quite regularly. If I am keeping to the contract, then why aren't they, by supplying me with a problem free and consistent service signal?

i have been with vodafone for 10yrs now. i NEVER had a problem!!! last year july/august 2009 i was having connection problems(prepaid cap), my phone would not sent msgs for days on end, and more connection issues. i thought there maybe a problem with prepaid connections, hence i decided to transfer to a 24month cap plan because of my fustration. Vodafone assured me there was "no problem with the network." WELL.....Since signing up I can not mention how many times my calls drop out - even more now than before. then not to mention more days on end when msgs/calls not received/will not send (and charged for these), n other connection features. All these problems with no real geniune curtious apologies for their inconvenience! Furthermore, my mother who is with vodafone, (note: we both have new phones)has an even worst drop out connections n her phone doesn't ring when ppl call her(not even missed call comes up). So we thought d phone was faulty n took it 4 repairs(paid from our own pocket)...well guess what? Nothings wrong with the phone. But...i think we all know what the answer is now.

I rang three with 12 months left on my contract they said they would let me get out of my contract and simply pay for the phone approx 400.00. Tell them you will go to the ombudsman and they will let you get out of the deal. Such a shame three was so good now im going back to telstra. Every since 3 merged with Vodafone myself and my mum have been having problems with the phone continually dropping out, messages not being received by myself or others, the signal is terrible.
My last phone bill was huge due to having to keep re-calling people after the phone drops out; why should I have to pay for it.
My contract is up in a month I was told that 3 will be rebranded to vodafone. They are very persistent about me renewing my contract 3 different people calling me in the same day and even more phone calls over the past couple of weeks - I wish they would leave me alone! I think I will just go back to Telstra just wish they had better cap plans.
Im really over companies and there lack of customer service. Its all about the profits they can make!
Legal action is all they will listen too.
Also as far as im aware if they state you have reception in a certain area and then you dont this is enough to void your contract! A friend got out of their contract this way.

5357 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Apalling Service at 27 Dec 2010 09:47:50 PM
I joined Vodafone about 2 years ago and have hardly used any of my calls usage because I have hardly had any coverage. Also, if I did manage to call out or receive a phonecall, it would drop out. The first time I rang Vodafone customer service I was advised to take my simcard out and re-insert it. When I did that, I had full coverage. This worked well for a couple of days and then the same problems again. I rang Vodafone customer service again and was rudely informed that I had already called them about the problem and to try the same method again.
This made me angry and I went into the shop to cancel my Phone plan.I was told that it could be a handset problem so I "upgraded" to a new handset. Now already into my 12 month of my 2nd 24 month contract(which I regret), I have minimum coverage and have wasted my money on a bogus substandard service.

Also, I can't acess my data pack which I pay $10 monthly. More money down the drain. Nobody calls my number anymore because they never reach me.

5347 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is SUPER FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 09:44:17 PM
My reception has been AWFUL for the last couple of week, problems with internet and pages not loading for about 1o minutes.

also i bought a vodaphone mobile broadband plugin- IT DOES NOT WORK, EVEN IN AREAS WITH PERFECT RECEPTION. i have called the helpline 3 times to try and fix it, and although the people on the other side have been friendly and kind, nothing they have suggested helps. i am so angry, i am sick of vodaphone stuffing me around. all i want is internet and to be able to send texts- i don't thinks that's too much to ask for the amount i am paying!

5325 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Extremely Disappointing ... not what I signed up for! at 27 Dec 2010 09:34:01 PM
After moving across from the terrible customer service I'd been having from Telstra, I looked forward to the 'exceptional coverage' and great customer service promised to me by Vodafone. Couldn't be further from the truth! Between no signal 3km from the city, countless calls dropping out (and having to incur charges to call them back!), voicemail arriving days after it was first left, intermittent signal (often only 1 bar on my iphone in the middle of the city) and waiting 40 minutes on hold to call vodafone technical support and giving up. How the heck am I meant to rectify the issue if their staff are out of reach? The game's over Vodafone, how about you meet me halway and actually PROVIDE ME THE SERVICE YOU KEEP SLUGGING ME FOR EACH MONTH????

5319 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is utter failure at 27 Dec 2010 09:32:08 PM
Major trouble with lack of data reception using USB mobile broadband modem and "attempting" to access the web while being in the middle of the CBD in adelaide. Trouble started within 1 month. Had to replace modems. Problems cropped up in another one month with the new modem and took about 6 weeks of nearly daily calls to the service centre with lame and non-concrete promises with no time frames for actions (not to mention the 30 min wait time before you can talk to anyone). After much painful interaction with the junior call centre staff finally got to the managers and got the connection disconnected. Lost one months' payment; luckily did not have to pay the early termination fee. But 10 months later got a call from a third party debt collecting agency asking me to pay up the whole money due for the supposedly 2 year contract. Absolutely blood boiling and painful.

5253 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Shit at 27 Dec 2010 09:07:09 PM
I recently signed up to a Crazy Johns contract and as I soon as i got home I had no reception, I asked at the time of purchase specifically about the Vodaphone coverage and was told, that it was as good as anyone else and that "an interstate truck driver that uses the Vodafone Network says it's better then Telstra", I was also told that 3 are hiring towers from Vodafone because they have the best coverage. I had my phone a couple of monthes and have terrible reception sometimes no reception at all. When I finally had a day off work I went to Crazy Johns and was told that it was really unusual and that they hadn't had any complaints about reception in my area, they showed me a computer graphic that showed there was perfect coverage in my area. I was told to find a friend on Vodafone and compare the signal, if they are different then they may have to check my phone as it may be faulty!!
So now I'm locked in a 2 year contract with a phone I can use sometimes...it's that bad at home that I have to walk around until I get 1 bar to make a call. I usually have to go stand out on my driveway!
My sms's regularly don't send and I've recently found out that I don't receive them alot of the time...
I sent an MMS to some friends at 1pm in the afternoon and they all received it a 2am in the morning..at least they got it I guess!
I'm glad the truth is out though, I was thinking i was going nuts!!!
Thanks Jason

5227 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Massive FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 09:00:01 PM
I have a 24 month plan with Vodafone for both my mobile phone and internet (a USB). My phone contract is due to run out now in 4 weeks (thank goodness) but I have had on going issues with signal, service and mostly customer service. I rang Customer service on numerous occasions about my issues with coverage and a billing enquiry and was on hold for ever.

Coverage for my internet at my house is shocking, despite being told by vodafone (and showed a coverage map) that internet coverage in my area was really good. (there is also a vodafone store less than 3 kms from my house, so why are they selling internet when it doesnt work more than 3km from their shop!), Again I rang Customer Service about the issue, was on hold nearly 40 mins and then spoke to someone who barely understood a word I said and then kept trying to transfer me through to another department before even hearing the reason why I had rang. When I asked how long I had left on my contracts I got the 3rd degree and eventually told. He then insisted on transferring me through to another area which he ASSURED me could help me with my problem right now. I got transferred to a pre-recorded msg "This department is currently closed" and then I got disconnected.
So.... I went in to see someone at the shop. The girl I spoke to said "well, you only have your internet contract until January 22nd with Vodafone, so if you just put up with it until then you can change after that" This is really annoying, customers shouldnt have to 'put up with it' until the end of the contract, it should be resolved, regardless of how much is left on the contract. I have 6 months left with my mobile phone and I am NOT HAPPY!!

5201 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is no sigal between me and my daughter at 27 Dec 2010 08:55:13 PM
my daughter and i were at carols in the park and told her if we got separted we would use our phones. after many attempts during the night i had no success in contacting her and started to panick after about an hour we found each other. she told me that no messages or phone calls came through on her phone{we are both vodafone network} i was at the stage that i was ready to contact the police because i wasn`t sure where she was{mine you she is only 11yrs} that was on the 19th of dec. on the 26th of dec about 8 oclock in the morning all the miss calls and messages came through all at once. i then rang vodafone to make a complaint and they couldn`t give a rat arse about it. my only worry i had was that my daughtre could have been taken my a stranger or bashed. vodafone this is not good enough
27 Dec 2010 10:56:13 PM: im hearing you i have there crap service to,nowadays we all rely on mobile service wether it be in your case or wether it be coming accross a car accident and needing the phone for help, there just is no excuse in this day and age, companies like them should be banned.

5193 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Very much after 3 merge at 27 Dec 2010 08:53:54 PM
It seems that after the 3 merger the coverage and service is crap. I have to get through to Mumbai when you have an issue sucks. I am now in the process of going to telstra as you get to speak to a real person in qld I have been with vodafone since 1996 so consider a fair loyalty. Now they can go to hell. I get 1 bar in the city and drop outs all over the place. I rang Mumbai and it was suggested to replace my sim. I did and hey guess what no difference. I am over the whole process. I have now recommended 20 friends to go to telstra who were considering vodafone. Man I am sick of the crap and everyone I speak to who is on vodafone are saying the same things. Time to move on. Oh I did get a $100 credit once for trying to leave!
28 Dec 2010 12:42:55 PM: You're lucky to get Telstra customer service in Australia. One call I made went from Phillipines, US, India - transferred from place to place and taking over an hour to get nowhere! I'm pretty cynical in that I don't believe any telcos know anything about good customer service at all.

5154 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is vodadefunct at 27 Dec 2010 08:42:16 PM
Very disappointed. Came across from Optus where I had an iPhone 3 now have iPhone 4 and the download speeds are way slower than I was getting at Optus even though the phone I now have has much faster downloading capabilities. The only Explanation "Vodadefunct".
Wish I had stayed with Optus.

5145 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is absolute shit crap service at 27 Dec 2010 08:39:33 PM
I am a self employed builder and have been with VodaFAIL for quite a number of years. I have lost potential clients through constant call drop outs, no reception, receiving text messages 3 to 4 hours later some have been of urgent concern, I can't make calls from inside my home, let alone outside the bloody phones freeze up, I go to make calls and says conection error grrr what a bloody CRAP...SHIT....SERVICE... and I have 2 VodaFAIL mobiles and I just want to smash the bloody things..I rang VodaFAIL to make a complaint and they didn't listen just upped my contract caps and still paying for a service I am not getting they should be paying me...not me paying them they are getting money for nothing...I have had to go out and purchase 2 Telstra NextG Mobiles prepaid to use to cover myself as back up this is absolute CRAP and is totally unacceptable... If I could get out of my contracts I would.

My phone often turns itself off and on. Often have to turn it off and on to retrieve the coverage. Phone often just 'hangs up' and I have to dial again. I wonder sometimes if my phone is being tapped as many strange things happen! It's a pain as I do rely on it for work.

5067 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Very at 27 Dec 2010 08:15:55 PM
I have sorted it out with Vodafone support after spending approximately 4 hours with Vodafone support outsourced from India.
When I had purchased new Vodafone prepaid mobile and recharged it with $30. I was able to receive incoming calls. However it was impossible to make outgoing calls. I was able to send SMS messages, however they arrived with strange source number, so it was not possible to reply to that number.

It charged me $3-$4/minute for intl calls even when the call did not connect at all... there was no ringing on the other end..just silence and yet i got charged. This has happened so many times. No connection only massive deduction of my credit. :( Tried it with my home phone and it works perfectly. So goodbye vodafone.

5029 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Catastrophic at 27 Dec 2010 08:08:16 PM
I bought a new iphone from Vodafone. It drops out all the time. It's battery life is less than one day as it has to use power to maintain the rubbish Vodafone signal. The Vodafone signal quality at the hospital I work in the CBD is poor, which means delayed voicemail messages on potentially urgent medical matters.

5014 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Exceptionally unacceptable. at 27 Dec 2010 08:05:26 PM
I have a Blackberry Storm. I've had it nearly a year. I used to get the odd CALL FAILED, but this has increased to, I'd say, 30% of all calls failing. I'm having to take the battery out at least once a day as I get this white screen with APP ERROR and have to reboot my phone. I spent over one hour on hold Christmas Eve, only to get through to some intellectual halfwit in Timbuktu, with a limited knowledge of the Queens English. He offered no solution whatsoever on how to fix my phone. I hate Vodafone and will be breaking my contract after seeking legal advice. Oh how I wish I stayed with Telstra.
27 Dec 2010 08:30:18 PM: You do realise the white screen and app error is actually a problem with your blackberry right? Better seek legal advice about them too
