26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

10784 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Disgustingly slow "Broadband Coverage" at 5 Jan 2011 10:02:37 PM
I live in the Adelaide metropolitan area and have been with Vodafone (Mobile Broadband) for 6 months. When I checked the coverage calculator on the Vodafone website before signing up for the contract they showed my house was in "Standard Coverage Area". Their standards speeds are pretty slow on the ocassions when it connects. Other networks work well and at good speeds from my house.
I have been trying to contact Vodafone to disconnect the connection but have been kept on hold for extended periods (more than an hour at times).
I have finally sent them an email and requested that they discontinue the service and decided to hold payments to Vodafone till they respond to my request.

10780 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is I havent used my phone in a year !!! at 5 Jan 2011 09:47:11 PM
1.5 years ago I purchased a blackberry storm from the local Vodaphone store in Armidale NSW. I was assured it had all the same features as an iphone including (I was very clear) wifi capability.
two days later I returned to the store, the phone was rubbish reception was horrendus (even in the centre of armidale I lose reception) and I couldnt find its wifi capability something I required for work. I was assured it was there and to check online. After two and a half weeks of argueing with the store about the phones lack of feature equality with the store I was told to call Vodaphone direct. After over two hours on hold they informed me that the cooling off period of two weeks had expired and to return to the store so back I went. Same story from them dispite the fact I had been arguing with them two days after purchasing the phone. I finally track down thier national sales manager and threaten legal action in small claims court for false and misleading conduct, I was informed "bring in the phone and its accessories and I will give you an old model iphone". Great, the next day I take EVERYTHING in minus the box (phone charger cables manuals ect). I am then infomred that the sales staff had been directed that if I did not have the box that they would not take back the phone AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHH !!!! back to vodaphone, they didnt care and I was diorected to continue complaining with the store direct. Well it has since closed down and the nearest store is approximately 180km away in Grafton.

I give, up use my phone for another few months and then throw it against a wall in rage, bugger all reception, rubbish phone with none of the features I was informed it had.

So here I am paying for a phone contract I havent used for about 12 months and waiting for my contract to expire.

so much abuse I would like to throw towards Vodaphone !!

5 Jan 2011 10:09:52 PM: Wow my grammer is terrible, its amazing that even now I get so worked up about my treatment by Vodaphone I cant help but get worked up so much I can hardly think.
5 Jan 2011 11:14:43 PM: I can understand how worked up this stuff can get you. They care nothing of the products they sell or their service once they have you locked in! been there with 3 years ago and now vodafone... and NOW they have merged !!!!

Unless there are major changes to customers rights.. I will never sign a mobile contract again. One way to keep them "more" honest.
6 Jan 2011 07:15:15 PM: They roped me in with the blackberry storm as well! Had the same issues etc. Voda kept telling me to go back to the store. Eventually I rang voda back and told them I was leaving unless they gave me another phone asap

10773 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Infinite holding, BS & plain idiocy at 5 Jan 2011 09:17:21 PM
i cannot quite believe a company has the gaul to enter the marketplace & offer the kind of shoddy experience both my wife & I have received over the past month since arriving from London. The failures are common it seems from inexcusable times waiting on hold through to drop out & lack of service. Anyone had numbers dialed whilst you're on another call? All quite unbelievable. Service complaints are not uncommon in the UK across the networks but the suffering here in Australia on VF surpasses it by miles. Something offer to be done & I salute the gentleman who set up this site & hope a class action succeeds. Failing that? Something akin to the student protests in London at VF's Australian HQ might be the only way forward. After all, it might not just be a job at stake next time a call drops out, it could be someone's life.
6 Jan 2011 12:36:43 PM: Class actions in Australia are not as glamorous or as anywhere near as lucrative as those portrayed in the movies.I'm not sure the good money part-punitive damages -even exists with class actions. And there are ways for companies to avoid even paying the costs and straight reimbursement awarded against them.
Look at James Hardie and the (now many dead) victims of asbestos; and the work Senator Nick Xenophon has been doing in this area.
26 Jan 2011 06:37:21 PM: And I keep wondering, where is the government in all this? How was it allowed to get so f**king bad?

was told email would function as per previous blackberry on new iphone4; cant send/recieve emails, $1500 roaming bills, costing me money as needed for work purposes, cant get any help whatsoever - spent so long on hold so many times to be given no answers. you get straight through on a nice clear line to the most friendly service when you want to upgrade, just dont ask for any friendly assistance...

10762 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Very bad at 5 Jan 2011 08:26:08 PM
Hello, Firstly thank you for starting this website. Its a sad fact that Vodafone (and some other companies operating in Australia) are so out of touch with their customers and arrogant, that a national campaign has to be started in order for proper customer service to be delivered.
My complaints....
1. Unbelievably Bad Reception: I live in Clayton Victoria and suburb of Melbourne, also by the by where Telstra and others telecom companies have their national telecommunication control centers. We're not talking about rural Australia here, and yet I consistently can't get reception in my living room or walking down the main street. Seriously, not being able to get reception in Clayton is like not being able to get Sushi in Tokyo ..... during a sushi festival.
2. Long Loooong time left on hold: I had to sort out a billing problem ($3500 dollar bill for overseas roaming, thanks very much) and with time on hold, bounced between this department and that, it took over 2.5 HOURS!
Hopefully this information helps in improving the situation
Regards
Damien Lacey
5 Jan 2011 11:02:21 PM: Hey Damien, I agree with your comments about Clayton being metro Melbourne - but seriously, can it get much worse than this: standing on St Kilda beach on front of the Vodafone Summer of Cricket promotion and can't make a call! Could have had a red cardboard Vodafone box seat though! Maybe that complete waste of money on cricket promotion could have been better directed into improving their network.

10757 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is #$@! at 5 Jan 2011 08:16:09 PM
There are many issues that I have had with vodafone in the last 12 months and after being a patron with them for more than 10 years I am extremely annoyed. One of the main issues that I have had with their service is text messages being charged multiple times on my bill. I have report this to them on the last 4 bills and still this occurs. Why is it that I have to inform them of this repeated error? and why am I waisting my precious time to be put on hold for more than 50 minutes to tell them this????
Very angry!

10756 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY USELESS at 5 Jan 2011 08:09:17 PM
Well where do I start!!!!! I had been happily using 3 mobile broadband for almost 2 years and then I got an email from Vodafone to say "hey change to us at no cost on a month by month plan with a free wifi modem and get extra download for no extra cost" well this was the lure for me as I just purchased my daughter a laptop for Christmas, so I signed on the dotted line on 17th December - FIRST MISTAKE! After receiving all the goodies in the mail on 20th December I quickly rang them and asked them to activate the sim to get me off and running. Well 23 phone calls later and about as many different stories I am still not connected. I reported them to the TIO and rang the sales people (and spoke to somebody in Australia!!!) and begged them to help me which I admit they did and promised - once again it will be resolved in 24 hours crap...well then I thought why am I doing this? Rang them back (was on hold 30 minutes) then got cut off!!!!!!! The rang back again was on hold 40 minutes and then the phone at the other end rang for 3 minutes before somebody picked up. Told her to cancel my account and DO NOT DARE SEND ME A BILL. Went to my local 3 shop signed up again and was connected in 30 minutes!!!
5 Jan 2011 08:15:29 PM: A word of advise, be careful, Vodafone may pursue you for termination fees, keep a note of all of your conversations, date, time, who you spoke to, their id number, and the outcome of the conversation. You may also have to take the matter to the TIO details may be found on the How To Complain tab. Good luck !!!!

10744 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Crap customer service and website at 5 Jan 2011 07:29:17 PM
I don't have call drop-out problems, but do have some late delivery text messages. My complaint is almost every time I try to pay my bill online, there is a website 'problem' that results in a frustrating call to the insufferable Robot Lara and a long wait on hold. Eventually I get excuses about the website being down/upgrading/temporarily unavailable etc etc. If I want a paper bill instead, that will cost me extra, but every month when I try to pay online I need to set aside about half an hour, just to give this stupid, useless and uncaring company money it doesn't deserve. The customer service is non-existent and the excuses pathetic. It is impossible to complain effectively. Every time I have a problem paying online because of their crap website, I ask for it to be reported but nothing ever changes. They promise anything to get you off the phone. I stay with this appalling company because I'm on a discontinued "no plan" service that costs them more money than it costs me. That's the only comfort I have in using Vodafone - actually "using" them. I recommend everyone I can against this company and tell Vodafone so when I complain, which is frequent. They don't care. But Optus for my home phone and internet is no better, so why bother going to the effort of switching suppliers? I bet they treat their staff like dirt, which is why they have these problems in the first place: no one who works there cares about the customer.

P.S. The bogus pro-Vodafone online comments on SMH story are surely embarrassing?! Try harder, Vodafone.

Currently on hold - has now been 1 hour & 51 minutes and counting.(I was not given the option of leaving my number for them to call me back). After 56 min I was answered & spoken to for 15 min (rudely), part problem resolved but still not happy. On 1st Jan I received a sms to say that my bill was $190.76 due to usage not covered by cap allowance. However when i received my bill on 3rd Jan it is for $294.33. I have been told that the cap is $79.00 + $190.76 + GST = $294.33 Service consultant didn't care that the sms is misleading. Also every sms I had sent was sent up to 3 times within a second of each other. I'm good at texting but not that good. They have refunded approx $60.00 & said its a technical issue with my phone N97 (which they provided) they have trasferred me to tech support which i have been on hold to until now (1hr 55 min) & suprise suprise i've just been disconnected because of daylight saving...thanks vodafone

10721 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EXTREME FAILURES at 5 Jan 2011 06:02:54 PM
Hi guys an Interesting piece of information for all of you disgruntled customers I have been experiencing the same trouble and have contacted the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) there is a Link to the site if you click 'How to Complain' above.

I received this e-mail back:
Thank you for contacting the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman (TIO) on 31 December 2010 about your complaint with Vodafone.

What to do about your complaint
*******************************
I have recorded your complaint and forwarded your contact details and the details of your complaint to a resolution department within Vodafone. This department has 10 clear working days from the date of this email to contact and resolve the matter directly with you.

To help with the complaint process:

1. If you are disputing charges on a bill, please ask Vodafone to put this part of your bill on hold (be sure to explain what and how much is in dispute). Vodafone cannot ask you to pay these charges until your complaint is resolved, so please contact the TIO again if credit management action continues. However, please organise to pay the rest of your bills, because Vodafone can ask you to pay non-disputed charges.

2. Contact the TIO again about your complaint if you cannot resolve it directly with Vodafone by 19 January 2011. If you do not contact the TIO again, we will assume that your complaint has been resolved.

..... Fingers crossed this gets me somewhere....... to be continued.....

10705 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Big Fail at 5 Jan 2011 04:52:14 PM
I ordered an E17 on a $29 plan in July with Vodafone. They "attempted" to deliver the phone to me twice, but the courier "couldn't find me". I work in a large regional hospital.

After 6 weeks waiting for the phone and now receiving bills for a service I hadn't accessed I eventually got them to cancel the contract and call it quits. This took 4 hours of work, of which 90% I was on hold.

Then today I get a call from nrg-gs.com, which is a debt collection mob that Vodafone have apparently sold "my debt" too. Turns out they reckon I owe $702 for the phone I never received!!!!!

So now I'm on hold, fingers crossed with Vodafone, hoping to talk to their billing. I had to call sales and the guy there put me through on his "direct line". Not surprisingly I'm now in the 59th minute on hold.

I'm not even a customer but these guys are screwing with my life. What a joke of a company!!!!!!

Cheers,

Pedro.

10702 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Lengthy wait times for credit. at 5 Jan 2011 04:41:21 PM
Hi I am very new to vodafone and only been a customer for around one month. I signed up for the 45 dollar infinite plan. I was placed on a 49 dollar cap. I managed to change this after waiting 45 minutes on the phone. I then noticed I was charged over 189 dollars outside my cap on the 49 plan. Even though I was only on it for around 5 days. It seems I was charged the 49 dollar cap but didn't receive any included calls. My bill is due for $189 but I can't view it and are expected to pay it unseen even when I know they have screwed up. I have spent several hours on the phone attempting to speak to someone about it this is absolutely pathetic. I have googled this and this is very common. I am off to the TIO as it has now been over one hour on the phone to them.

10700 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst company I've ever dealt with at 5 Jan 2011 04:24:10 PM
I called vodafone several times about my poor service I would have full bars of reception but it would drop out, calls would fail, text would not send and people could not get through to me. I spoke to three different people after being on hold for over 40 mins each time. My uncle was dying at the time and I explained I needed a reliable phone they didn't care they said they would hold a 3 day investigation and call me back! I had to
call them and still nothing. They sent me a sim
card and said try this but I was left on
hold for over an hour the day I called to
activate the new sim so I gave up. I called yesterday to upgrade my phone which they offered me again on hold forever and a memo to all stores said for htc or iPhones we need to call and order. After my long wait they told me to call back on
the 6th at which point they would take my order for the htc!! I am refusing to pay my bill as I can not use the service properly! I just want out of my contract which only has 3 months left and I will never ever go near them again! Poor quality products, rude non social phone staff not even in the same country and crap coverage! They use to be great but some one has stuffed up big time and I know hundreds of people who have left them and for good reason! I will not be renewing my contract!

This is the third time I have tried to call vodafone to discuss drop out issues and it is the third time I have been on hold for more than 1hr and then the call drops out. What a joke. How am I to run a company like this. Then they ring up and give me reminder to pay the monthly bill. What a joke because that person calling from vodafone can not take complaints. Compensation is called for here.

Rang the infamous Lara - Voice command system. All I want to do is speak to a person and I'm still on hold after 45 minutes, after hearing Lara tell me how close I am to having my call taken, and the next minute how flat out they are and they will be with me shortly!
About to give up, and about to move my plans to Optus! Well done Vodafone, another customer who you have pissed off with your pathetic customer service, pathetic automated systems that simply don't work, and pathetic phone network.

10676 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 5 Jan 2011 03:15:54 PM
I signed up with vodafone around 2 years ago and have never had any real issues with it, until recently.
I moved into a new house with my fiancee around 3 months ago and when we moved in, we had both 3G coverage and telephone reception.
Over the last 2 and a half months, coverage has gradually gotten worse and now we have NO 3G coverage and extremely limited telephone reception; unless we turn our phones off and then turn them back on - in which case, we get full reception and 3G coverage for around 20 seconds before it goes back to nothing.
We went into a Vodafone store to enquire and a the attendant who worked there responded with (this is a direct quote), "well, if you couldnt get reception, you shouldn't have moved there."
I have tried calling Vodafone and am always left waiting on hold for ages and then I am transferred through to another department, and wait on hold for ages to speak with them also.
Yesterday, my fiancee called Vodafone in the morning as was promised a call back at 6.15pm. When he heard nothing by 6.30, he tried calling them from my mobile and waiting on hold for over an hour, and the person transferred him to another department and he waiting another 40mins before hanging up.
My sms's come back with a note saying that they haven't been sent, so I send them again, and again, and again and people respond saying they have received 7 or 8 texts from me - and I am being charged for ALL of these texts!
Also, I get so many people tell me they have tried to call my mobile - I tell them I have no coverage at my house and ask if they get that generic voice telling them the phone was unavailable - but they assure me that the phone rings, but I never get any missed calls on my phone.
I know that this post is a bit of an jumbbled rant, but I have so many issues and they have randomly popped into my head whilst I have been typing, hence I havent been able to string my sentences together coherently.
Bottom line is:
I AM VERY UNHAPPY and it is unfair becasue there is absoloutely nothing I can do about it, but that shouldn't mean that I should have to put up with horrible service either!
6 Jan 2011 02:13:46 PM: Coverage has changed dramatically in the last 3 months because after the merger with 3mobile into VHA both networks are upgrading and changing their towers. During this time they said there would be some temporary outages while the new towers were put up. If you check the vodafone website you can search your area and see where the towers are still affected, which ones are going to be affected too, expected outages, resolve times etc etc. Hope that helps - it did for me. The reduced coverage is a temporary thing and should be resolved soon and go back to how it was

I was on hold today (around 3pm Brisbane time) trying to sort out a network issue with a lovely Bumbai staff member when the call dropped out. I then received the following text messages from Voda.
First..."We're sorry (my name) but the call just got disconnected. You do not have to ring us back. We'll call you at the soonest possible.

Second...We are currently having an issue making outgoing calls. As soon as that fixes we'll ring you back either today or tomorrow. We'll try our best to call today. VF

Gotta love it, as the issue of calls dropping out is what i was calling about and they are having the same issue as well....

1 Month out from my Vodadome contract expiration I got a call from a sales guy asking if I want to extend my contract...I said I can't wait to get away from you muppets.

And yes, I had endless issues trying to speak to someone....would be on hold for 30 mins or so, then it would just cut out...so I'd have to ring back...etc etc....

One other time I complained about a loss of service (mobile broadband). The loss of service was 1 or 2 days from long....They refused to give me any refund for this loss of service. I couldn't understand why I was paying for something that wasn't actually available.

I'm now with Telstra, and seems to be 100% from a maintaining a connection perspective.

10653 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bigtime Fail - worse if overseas at 5 Jan 2011 02:31:04 PM
Other than the lack of reception over recent months the worst was when I was overseas and I lost my phone and needed to deactivate my sim card. It was a nightmare in terms of cost as I was being put on hold at international rates for up to an hour and then the phone would just cut off - this happened on three separate attempts - arrgggh!!!! Vodafone - get please get your act together your service has gone downhill bigtime.

I live in the inner suburbs of Sydney and found I had no Vodafail coverage inside my house , not a unit a house without highrise around.
Secondly they didnt even have 2g coverage in Warrnambool Victoria which is a town of 30 000 people ... they said it was an extended network which never worked as a result... poor performance...
Thirdly when i called to request the matter to be looked into they found no cause and asked what can they do to keep me as a customer, flat out laughing I said
" nothing mate nothing will make me sign a new contract with Vodafail as Coverage is not there , hour wait time to chat to Voda , and endless call dropouts ... mate I am finding a new service provider"
Left him speechless
Thanks for the vent and hope we all make a change ...

10630 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very much at 5 Jan 2011 01:49:50 PM
I recently purchased the HTC Desire HD, and it was recommended that I port my number over to Vodafone from 3 because according to the customer service representative, 3 is being phased out. I thought fine, same company right? But now I feel nothing but regret. I have NO reception at my desk at work (where my phone is my everything), sometimes get texts weeks after they've been sent and I'm constantly struggling to find any 3G service in Sydney. When you've got a phone with the capabilities that mine has, it causes huge frustration. As well as this, I struggle to get any help via customer service if I have a problem (this is after being on hold for 45 minutes of course) - currently, I paid my first bill 3 weeks ago but am still receiving notifications that I owe Vodafone money. I'm only two months into my contract but am seriously considering paying it out and switching companies.

If having calls drop off, receive sms in the middle of the night and not having a signal to make calls in the middle of the CBD not bad enough, try complain about it!

I did... when i eventually got a network signal, only to be on hold for 25 mins just to be told i cant look into your details because.... wait for it... OUR NETWORK IS DOWN!

shocking thing is... im not surprised!

5 Jan 2011 01:45:49 PM: I feel your pain.. that sounds like my experience with 3. Tried to cancel my contract for 2 months !

Sayyyy.. hasnt Vodafone and 3 merged now.. funny that!

Say no to contracts.. that will keep them honest.
5 Jan 2011 05:49:29 PM: Voda do have no contract plans, so what's your complaint.
5 Jan 2011 06:07:11 PM: When in doubt, tell the TIO, they should be able to get you out of your contract with the added benefit of charging Vodafone for the investigation fee :)

Uers on infinite cap plan be aware! -
I am on a $65 plan and this should entitle me to all of $65 value. Apparently not according to vodafone. I only noticed this as im in the habit of constantly checking all my plans(home internet/mobile) on my iphone app. The app said i had $2.00 left on the cap when i know i still had around $10.00. So i double checked the calls and calculated that i still have $10.00 credit but vodafone site still said i have $2.00. So i decided to call customer care and was on hold for more that 20 min (No Surprise there!!). I finally get to speak to the operator and got her to double check all the calls. Had to ask her to calculate it 3 times before she got the amount right. You would think these guys are good in maths. Anyway she confirmed the right amount after the 3rd time and said that the remaining amount was all going to gst(gst is extra) and that didnt sit right with me. She then went on to say that this would have been mentioned in the terms and conditions. I then told her that no mention of this in the terms and conditions. If you advertise $65 plan you are entitled to all of it. She then wanted to know if i signed it online or at the store which i thought was stupid as to why would the contracts differ if you signed it online or at the store. I then asked her to go through the contract and if she did find where its mentioned that gst is not included then i was happy to let this go. She then put me on hold for another 25 mins and came back to confirm that i was right and i was entitled to the whole $65 and that although the online site was showing i had $2.00 owing i would not be billed extra (as i still had $10.00 owing). I also got her to send me a msg from 1555 number stating that I will get the full amount of $65 which includes gst.
So people, if you are on a cap plan please check regularly as you could be paying more than you have too.
6 Jan 2011 02:21:20 PM: Infinite $65 plan minimum spend inclusions: International Voice & Video Calls, 13/18 Numbers Re-routed calls, calls to national (1223), & international (1225), directory assistance, National roaming
Exclusions: Ask Anything, Premium TXT numbers & services, International Roaming
Data Overage, Call Screen
Social Access (facebook twitter etc): free and unlimited:
T&C: Minimum costs and early termination charges for termination within the contract term apply. Additional charges are payable for excluded services and usage exceeding the Included Value. Any unused Included Value is forfeited at the end of the monthly billing period. Call charges are rounded up to the nearest cent before GST is included.
Hope that helps

I ordered an iphone over the website on a plan, i received it 2 weeks late. that was fine. I had the phone for a week, was working excellent. I went to sign onto the vodafone website and noticed my name wasnt correct on my account page, all of the information was wrong.
I rang vodafone and was onhold for an hr, finally got through to them and they couldnt help me, because my name was wrong on the account.
I hang up rang again, same reply, so i asked to speak to someone higher.
They said, they would change the details, no problem, it may take 48 hrs to change.
I checked every day for 2 weeks and still no change, so i rang them again.
I was then told my bill was due, and it was exceeding $2000, (and still under another name) I explained that i hardly used it, and no way it could be that much, and that it was still showing up under another name, address, phone number the lot.
I go annoyed at the person i was talking too because they kept saying to come in and show id and they'll fix it - which i couldnt do because i live 5 hrs away from a vodafone store.
they said email your details and ID and they'll fix it up and ring back within 2 days.
I did. They didnt. (SHOCK HORROR!!)
I went to call them after the 2 days and i couldnt make a call.
I had no service, nothing.
I got someone too call my number, and it said it was not connected.
I was furious!
I rang vodafone back from a different phone, and they said politly - Sorry theres nothing i can do. Bring your phone into a store and we'll take it from there.
Almost 'doing my block in' i explained once again i couldnt do it living so far away from a store.
I was asked several times during the same phonecall to bring it into the closest store.
by this stage i was so annoyed, and was ready to hit the closest person.
I asked to speak to her superviser. She said sorry, but theres nothing she can do, and the superviser wouldnt be able to help. I said put the superviser on now.
Spoke to the superviser, she was helpful - well so it seemed.
She said that there had been a mix up with the account and she'll contact me in a weeks time when it will be sorted out.
I waited 3 weeks! in that time i brought a new phone NOT FROM VODAFONE!
I finally got the call, and i went off my head at the poor women.
She said well theres nothing we can do without your ID.
I said, my id is on file, ive sent it in. i will do it again.
i was emailed from the fraud people and was told to send my id into them and they'll get back to me with 2 weeks.
At least they were on time.
I was then told, there was a mix up with the accounts, and i was still under contract for 12 months and on a plan.
finally my iphone was up and running again.
it worked well for a couple months, then i had an accident, apparently water and phones dont work together real well. I am still waiting to hear back from vodafone - though i wont hold my breath.
I put my sim into a different phone.
hopefully they get back to me before my contract is up.
5 Jan 2011 01:11:05 PM: geez you were stuffed around for what? a couple months use of ur iphone!

10582 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic Douchebags - Lara needs a good slapping at 5 Jan 2011 12:11:16 PM
Ive been (Just recently changed telco's) a Vodafone customer for around 7-8 years.

The last 12 months or so have been incredibly frustrating with them- numerous handset fails, poor service, replacement handsets that were reconditioned ones instead of new ones, customer care staff with exceptionally poor english skills, excessive amounts of time on hold (one call had me on hold for almost two hours before I gave up and hung up), and unwanted handest upgrade that was damn near impossible to return.

In the end I had a gutful and went to pay out my contract and cancel my service, it took TIO involvement to get it happening as every time I tried to do it myself, their system was down, or I was transferred back and forth between departments all telling me I had come through to the wrong place, or the person I spoke to me couldnt understand english properly or spoke so fast it was like a foreign language and got angry at me when I asked them to slow down.

That was two months ago. My contract has since been cancelled and I'm a very happy customer of another telco. BUT... they wont take my final payment! they said the final amount would direct debit as per usual on the usual due date - it didnt. There was plenty of money in my account to cover it, yet it didnt come out. The following month I get a bill with the amount now listed as overdue and that I need to call collections to explain why I hadnt paid. So after another epic lifetime on hold and Lara getting sarcastic with me, they assured me I wouldnt be charged any late fees and it will automatically come out on the next payment cycle. Well, the next payment cycle passed a week ago and surprise surprise, no payment came out.

If they default my credit history Im gonna be very unimpressed. But if they dont want their money either, then im cool with that...

Brand new phone resets itself 10 to 15 times per day. Calls drop out all the time in the middle of Brisbane. Not worth waiting for data retrieval unless connected to wi-fi. 3G coverage is terrible even in Brisbane CBD so using Facebook, Youtube or similar is just a waste of time. Have been on hold with Vodafone customer care for over 110 minutes, 4 times in the last 2 weeks. Keep sending me to different departments and i find it very hard to understand some of their staff. Extremely frustrated

10576 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very Fail at 5 Jan 2011 11:55:09 AM
I have had issues for the past 6 months with data and MMS. I have been with vodafone for many years but it is has only been when i got my Iphone, 6 months ago and actually started using my phone for things other than calls and text :)

At first I thought the slow data was just part and parcel of it being through a mobile phone, but then MMS message became 50/50 as to if i got them or not. I rang vodafone and was advised to try it in a different phone as my Iphone may be having some issues. So i went and bought a cheap vodafone prepaid handset and put my sim in. I tried this out for just over a month with the same issues as the Iphone. So i rang again and was told to go into a store and they would help me out. I went into the store and spoke to a guy that didnt seem to interested in helping but he spoke to me about a sony ericsson and he advised i shouldnt have an issue with it. Waited until start of November and thought I would give it a go and ordered it. When I received it I still had the same issues. I rang the call centre again only to be told try another phone - I advised them that this was now my third phone in less than 6 months so it could not be that - they then told me to go into the store and get a new sim card as it was probably just because the one I had was old. So I went into the store and got this new sim and this did not fix the problem either. So I rang back and was told that they would escalate the issue and would get back to me (this was the end of november 2010), they also told me that there was no issue with their network and it was probably going to turn out to be an issue on my end - kind of rude they way they said it too.
Anyways I got a voicemail to call them back at the start of December and try to do so throughout the whole of December but the wait times were just too much to set aside the time.
Finally got ahold of someone today 5th Jan who tried telling me all the same things the last people did (i.e that it was my phone or my location or my settings) I told them to look at my notes and that I had been through this and three phones. They went silent and only then said that they were having some issues, didnt know when it would be fixed and would not offer anything to make up for running me around and three phones later as he advised it was my choice to follow their technical trouble shooting requests.
I think I have given them a fair go to be honest and resonable with me as a customer, I think it is time to go somewhere else.
Thanks also to vodafail for letting me have somewhere to vent :)

I live in Freshwater on the northern beaches & travel on the bus to Sydney CBD daily along Military Road. I continually have my phone calls drop out along military road and am never able to connect to the net from my iphone when i'm anywhere whithin range of the harbour bridge. On other days my phone won't even give me any service to send text's or make calls, let alone 3G access to get on the net - the best yet is that on military road i get the signal on my phone that says it's on roaming because it can't connect to 3G. For crying out loud, living in the Sydney Metro area I should have 3G coverage wherever I am & shouldn't have to put up with this crap. I switch to vodafone after being with Optus for 10yrs and I am seriously disappointed. Oh not to mention the ridiculous on hold time when you try to ring & get an answer out of Vodafone!!!

Have been trying to contact Vodafone for network issues and call drop for last 2 months. Never been able to rach the right team. Been on hold for hours and hours untill now. They play passing the buck, one team transfers to another to another saying its not the right area/team. Am sure i chose the closest/right options and selections given by vodafone.
Have sent emails but no response yet.
Been to few stores, was told they dont take complaints.
Can someone suggest how to reach these worst customer service on earth. Will anyone have email address of Customer Service Head and CEO.
5 Jan 2011 12:55:38 PM: Maybe visit their swish new VHA Head Office in North Sydney at 40 Mount Street. Level 7. If your lucky the CEO might invite you in for a latte.
Perhaps if a few thousand disgruntled Vodafone customers lobbed on their North Sydney doorstep they might feel less insulated from their unhappy customer base ?

I have been a longterm customer of Vodafone - by longterm I mean 10yrs + .... and in that 10 plus years where do I begin?!
I cannot describe the frustration - the difficulties in communicating with a communications company!
I have had lost calls, dropped calls, sms messages that time out and don't go through ... or finally come through at 3.11 am (for some weird reason)... I've had no, limited or non-existent data or broadband - 3G is dodgy at the best of times, incorrect billing ... and the icing on the cake was when they refused to sell me a new fone (for my partner when he changed jobs) because I've paid my bills late (occassionally ... as a protest) because I was a "risky" customer ... they are fortunate enough to still have me as a customer only through my pig-headedness!
When you try to speak to a person ... you get the infuriating Lara .. (I hate Lara) ... and the cycle of "we're really busy at the moment ..."
It is not unusual to have wait times to customer service in excess of 45 minutes ... whereupon you get a call centre who has no idea of the problems, denies there is a problem, blames the customer/client, insists that you go through a stupid procedure to re-set your phone, and still have dropped calls, bad reception and overcharges on your bills at the end of it.
Trying to contact them with a complaint is a nightmare - trying to email them is even worse - I have a list of replies stating that my complaint has been dealt with ... it never was, and probably never will be!
Contrast this with a well known car insurance company that I had to deal with on New Years' Day .... less than 3 minutes ... TALKING TO A REAL PERSON ... had my claim sorted.
Vodafone is just good enough and apart from the class action - I think they should be investigated under the Trade Practices Act for false and misleading conduct ... and maybe we should get the ACCC involved too...
Constant misleading rubbish is all we get fed from Vodafone.

Have spent over three hours over three separate calls on hold. One of those calls was an hour and forty minutes before speaking to a human being. So much for the callback service - was never given the option.

Their support department has admitted that I have poor coverage indoors at both work and home, in spite of supposedly having "full" coverage at my home address. Tired of paying extortionate prices for lack of service.

However, if I do get out of my contract, what are my options? The alternatives aren't much better. Optus have poor performance in Melbourne, and their accounts department are clueless, and Telstra have an excellent network but the performance of their accounts department appears to be inversely proportional to the quality of their network, and their prices are now almost-extortionate, down from extortionate.

How depressing.

Yesterday afternoon, I made 4 calls to Vodafone customer care (1555) to raise my concern over my mobile phone reception coverage.
1st call - I used the key pad prompts but failed to find one that satisfied my complaint and so chose my account. I was then advised I would have to call back later as Lara had experienced a problem....
2nd call - I was on hold for over 30 minutes when my call was answered however my reception cut out and the call ended. I have really bad coverage in inner Sydney...
3rd call - I went through the options again and when I was placed on hold, the reception cut out again and my call ended.... steaming mad...
4th call - I am now home. I began calling Vodafone when I left work, One hour ago exactly. I have hung up the call at 18 minutes on hold.
I tried to go to thewebsite to ask someone to call ME and had sooo much trouble trying to find a way to contact vodafone directly! It seems they have put everything in place so that we solve our own problems instead of bothering THEM!
Their service levels have dropped, phone coverage has dropped, but my call charges haven't... I think it's a breach of contract.. LET ME OUT!!!

10479 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No reception, cant call customer service at 5 Jan 2011 08:22:25 AM
I have recently moved to Tweed Heads and I have never had such a drama with vodafone. I am on a contractand it seems at 6pm everynight I lose all reception for about 3 hours I cant get any calls and then the next day at about 9am I receive voicemail messages form the night before. I tried to call customer service using the 1511 number and it wont connect. So I have to call the 1300 number and they said there is no service in my area to call the 1511 number. But when I tried calling from a pre paid number it works fine. Then when I get my bill at the end of the month there is a $20 call on it to them because I was on hold for 20 minutes at a time. I have been with vodafone for 10 years and it seems they only want to reward new customers and give nothing to customers that have been loyal to them.

Also they have stopped taking the money out by direct debit without my knowledge and sending me reminder bills in the mail demanding I pay the bill.

They really need to sort themselves out
5 Jan 2011 08:37:32 AM: has your credit card changed?
5 Jan 2011 08:47:48 AM: There are 2 numbers for customer care, 1555(free from Vodafone numbers) and 1300650410 which is not free. 1511 is the number for prepaid to recharge hence why it worked for your prepaid. Don't use the 1300 number and complain when you get charged when there is 1555 for free for existing customers(!).
5 Jan 2011 08:49:44 AM: Well not totally without your knowledge... they are sending you reminder bills after all.
5 Jan 2011 09:01:01 AM: Hello, I currently work in a Vodafone store and I must say that it extremely frustrating and incorrect when I hear "I have been with vodafone for 10 years and it seems they only want to reward new customers and give nothing to customers that have been loyal to them." I hear this a lot and just isn't true. In store we have a program that lists every deal or promotion currently running and there is a section that lists deals ONLY available to existing customers in addition to every other offer that's available to everyone.

Please keep your complaints fair and honest. Vodafone has had enough real issues (which they are working hard to fix) to comment on without resorting to exaggeration and fabrication.
5 Jan 2011 09:20:46 AM: (ibid) reply 4!

And yes, the only reason your direct debit would cease is if the card with which you initiated the contract has since expired and been replaced with a new one. When this happens you need to notify Vodafone so they can continue the direct debit.
5 Jan 2011 02:20:50 PM: Sorry im meant to say the 1555 number was not available in my area through my plan but was for pre paid customers. My bank details have not changed the whole time I have been with vodafone, they just stopped doing the direct debit. They only send a reminder bill when it gets to the point that they are going to send my details to a debt collector. And I have been to the local store to try and get the data cap added to my plan as stated on the website and when I did there was no one in the store that had heard anything about it. Then they just tried to make me upgrade my plan to a different one and told me i had to pay out the original contract to do it. I just received another bill today after being away for three weeks of the billing period without my phone and when I really did not use it when I had it and got charged $50 over what the cap price is. I dont know how they come up with their figures

We need your data (postcode) in the Your Coverage tab and you need to visit the TIO as soon as possible, your situation is simply not good enough with this shower. Check out the How To Complain tab for more information. In addition the On Hold Again? tab can record your waiting time(s) Good luck!!!!
5 Jan 2011 08:19:28 AM: I signed up for a month by month mobile broadband when I was inbetween moving houses and setting up fixed line internet. After I was finished and had cable internet I called up to cancel. In my case they offered me 3 months free instead of cancelling so I took it, but luckily I've never had any speed/coverage issues (I live/travel in and around Brisbane and Ipswich). They do make it difficult to cancel but you just need to be firm, calm and direct.

Agreed to an (at least) 30mins callback. 1.5 hours later that sent me an automated callback then claimed to be putting me through to an assistant. The phone rang out. Spoke to an assistant at Floreat All Phones shop 10 mins later - he'd been on hold for 144 minutes!

when I tried to ask for the disconnections team the customer care rep told me all about the network congestion caused by three merger. But it would be all fixed ASAP. I asked when ASAP was and he said the end of the month. He then said that I was a valued customer and they would hate to see me leave and all that rubbish. He have me a $30.00 account credit. When I said that I am not interested in an account credit he said he would transfer me through. Put me on hold for 5 mins the came back and said due to a technical problem he cant transfer me and I would have to try again later.

As for Vodafone owning optus, well at least my friends on optus get a way better deal and service than I do at Vodafone and they pay less. So I guess it's better that a telco bends you over with your pants on than with Vodafone that gets you to pull your pants around your ankles first!!!!!!!!

10376 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is i could string cans together to create a better service. at 4 Jan 2011 04:47:38 PM
I have been a vodaphone customer for years... (well over 5 I think) service at one time was pretty good but since i moved to a different suburb i cant get any service that isn't well below par.

I have drop outs on probably half my calls, I am forced to say "hello? are you still there" constantly and walk around my house trying to find a place where someone can hear me.
People constantly tell me that they have been calling for hours and get all kinds of error messages.
an average call takes me three attempts.

Eventually I was given a managers email address as I was so distressed about the constant waits on hold to complain. (the calls would generally end an hour in and still prematurely when the Vodaphone service would drop out and I would be forced to call back and wait in a line AGAIN AND AGAIN... for hours!).

I actually rang to cancel my plan and kinda got suckered into trying a new iphone, mind you this did take waiting on hold for about 8 hours over a few days.
I was told that it would get better, they would offer me a new phone and a two week trial to back out if it didnt improve.
For the two week trial they put me on it was fine. tolerable even.

then it all started again... literally the day after the 2 weeks ran out, the service went back to being horrible. as soon as i tried sending emails saying this wasn't good enough to the manager I could no longer get a response.

I have a nice shiny Iphone4 that cant make or receive calls properly now.
Don't be suckered if they offer you one, its a god damned con job.

I am so angry with Vodaphone that I have warned everyone I know about this companies lousy service and greedy business practices.

i switched from telstra to vodafone about 6 months ago and have regreted it every day. I may have a full bar of reception and be on a phone call with someone on a land line but half way though our conversation it drops out. This happenes at least twice a day. It ends up costing me because i need to call back when every this happens. I to have contacted vodafone several times, once i was onhold for an hour, and nothing has worked. I get the same notification saying that my network has been lost and i have to search for this which takes time. Its extremly frusting as my job requires me to be contactable. People have complained about trying to call me and apparently my phone is off when i know for a fact hat it has been on! 10369 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is at 4 Jan 2011 04:05:43 PM
PLEASE SEE BELOW MY RECENT E-MAIL TO VODAFONE:

I have already made calls regarding the extremely bad network coverage I am experiencing from Vodafone! Some of the problems include constant call drop outs, Messages taking 5+ days to be received if the come through at all ( this includes Voicemail, Text and MMS), Poor Customer Service etc.

I am loosing thousands of dollars in Business due to clients not being able to contact me, or if they leave a message I am not receiving it on time. I have been into the Vodafone stores and no one can help. I had previously tried contacting technical support but do not have the time to be sitting on the phone for hours, until Friday the 31st of December 2010. On this date I first tried calling 1555, from my mobile after waiting on the phone 15mins the call dropped out I tried a further 10 times, only to face the same issue! I then used a landline and selected the callback option, the woman that eventually called me back asked for my reason for calling and I explained the situation, she was going to transfer me through to Technical Support, but she too had Technical difficulties and offered to call me back, I am still awaiting the Call!!!

I then rang and waited on the phone to be put through and finally got through to technical support after over an hour and a half on the phone, to be asked to switch my phone on and off, place the sim in another unlocked handset, which still had the same results poor service only 1-2 bars as measured by the handsets but call failures if calls are attempted!

I then rang again this morning and spoke to an arrogant gentleman, who when I explained that I now wish to terminate the Vodafone contract because of the poor customer service and Poor Network Coverage etc etc etc, he decided that rather than talking to me and trying to resolve the problem he would terminate the call.

I rang back again and after 25mins on hold spoke to another gentleman, he said he could see that I had called on Friday etc I explained I need something done about it sooner rather than later as I return to work tomorrow and need a phone! He said he would try chasing it up and call back within half an hour I am still waiting on the edge of my seat for this call as well!

I have kept my side of the contract agreement, as I have every month paid the $100-$150. As I am not able to use the phone due to extremely bad network coverage I will be terminating my contract and I will NOT be paying any further monies, as I am not getting what I paid for now! I have tried going through the right channels i.e. Technical support, however after talking to some of the belligerent, arrogant staff that you call service technicians, not to mention the unhelpful staff in the Vodafone stores, I wish to terminate the contract! Due to the poor dealing of this situation by Vodafone I have contacted the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman, and will be contacting the ACCC.

If someone would like to contact me regarding the Issues I have outlined, please feel free.

Several times a day i go without service! i always get a notification on my phone saying 'network lost' and then i have to spend around 5 mins each time searching for my network. As im doing this i go without receptions. Sometimes i will look at my phone for the time or something and i will have no service! ive contacted vodafone so many times and i always end up being on hold for 30 mins or so and to make it worse, most of the time, my service drops out half way through the conversation. They never call me back and then i just have to waste another half an hour of my work time on hold to vodafone!

Saturday the 11th of December when I had no service at all for a few hours, were they gave us free calls as an apology.

Delayed voice and text messages. Calls drops out. Calls go straight to voicemail without ringing. Phone often has no service whatsoever. Slow internet, or no internet coverage at all.

Called many times, explained my situation many times, only to be put on hold for ages. (am on hold now, have been waiting for over an hour)

Want to end my contract with Vodafone. Looking for a way out but can't get through!!!
4 Jan 2011 03:01:18 PM: they should just say something like..."we are sorry for this untennable situation, anyone wishing to break contract and go to another carrier, you can, but please dont forget about us in the future". I think a lot of us would respect that and after all they do reckon we are only a small percentage of their client base

10340 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Huge Fail at 4 Jan 2011 02:45:26 PM
Overcharging of my account. Vodafone wanted an extra $66 for absolutely nothing. I am on a $29 cap and was charged $97 for my first bill when i did not even go over my usage for the month. Then when i signed to Vodafone, part of my contract for the first 12 months was to receive 1GB of download for the first 12 months then 50MB for the remaining 12 months. I only have 50MB right from the start. They have dishonoured the contract as far as i am concerned and should be terminated. Been on hold with them for a minimum of 45min each call then they hang up.
4 Jan 2011 05:31:55 PM: 1st bill huh? Heard of a thing called Pro Rata Charges? What this means for you is that your first bill wiil always be higher because it's for your first month in advance plus the amount of days from when you first connect up until the first billing cycle date, e.g. if you sign up for a $29 cap on the 1st and Vodafone's next billing cycle is the 15th, the first bill should be for $29 + approx. $15(1/2 a month). Now, on a $29 cap you get $150 of credit for a month, so for half a month you should only get $75. Is it possible that you overspent on what you partially received when you may have thought you had the full $150? As for the bonus 1GB for 12 months, that's is for 12 months not 12 months and the little partial month you begin with. You should have the full 1GB + 50MB from the first full month.
Pro Rata is listed on the details of the contract you signed. If the sales consultant didn't properly explain this then Customer care might be able to offer a discount.

where do i start ...

i have not been able to access my account info online for 6 months

i have not been able to use the online system or get hold of anyone to set up global roaming for work trips and holidays .. then recently i did finally get someone in the call centre to do it, but it would not work for 4 of the 5 weeks I was overseas. They sent me an email to say it works and today once I got through again they said it works. I can guarrantee that it doesnt. So I have paid for 4 weeks of NO service.

They made an error and did not invoice me for my last account and are adding it to my next one.

Today, again the website would not work and then when i called, the first time the system hung up after 5 minutes. Then second time, i was on hold for ages, then listening to a ringing phone for about 5 minutes, then when finally through i could only hear them partially due to them breaking up lots (i had to call from a landline as my iphone now doesnt work thanks to the new software update i put on it yesterday)

I asked for the amount i need to payout to finish my contract but they could not tell me as they said that there is an 'order' on my account and they cannot provide me that information ...

and that is just a bit of the problem.

Was with them for 13yrs but now .. willing to PAY money to get away!

I am a freelance designer and run my own graphic/web business from home. My iphone is my personal and buseinss phone and without it I would not be able to run my business as well as I do. I have had the same mobile number and have been with Vodafone for going on about 12 years!!

About 2 years ago I joined the iphone gang and upgraded to my first iphone 3. Towards the last 6 months of my 24 month contract all my friends refused to phone me because of the hastle of having to call me back 3-4 times for a simple 10min conversation. Stupid me thinking it was my outdated iphone, 1 month before my contract ended I pleaded with Vodafone to let me get out of my contract a little early and upgrade me to an iphone 4 thinking it would fix the issue!!.

HOW WRONG I WAS!! It dropped out just as much, if not more, even with the approved cover on the Apple Arial flawed phone.

When I rang Vodafone to sort it all out, I was on hold for 30mins with no direction as to they were busy, when I would be answered or anything at all.

After having even more disastrous experiences with Optus and Telstra, it seems as though that we are all destined to be screwed by every single available source of Telecommunications companies available to us.

Something needs to be done asap otherwise I will have to change carriers as I will not be able to run my business!

i called up 2 weeks ago to find out what was wrong and the operator took 40 mins to figure out the charges... which were actually incorrect and i only really had to pay $110... i was promised a credit of $50 ....

i just received my bill and its not $110 that i owe but $289 and no credit.....

are these guys for real???

10265 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is makes me wanna change carriers at 4 Jan 2011 10:59:05 AM
there is so many problems with vodafone! Firstly the reception. My mum has the crappiest phone ever and I have a nice touch phone and she gets better reception than me. Even in high reception areas my bar is on zero and i cannot make any calls or any texts. The staff never want to help when i go into any vodafone store, one time they just gave me a brochure and sent me on my way. My phone pooped itself while I was paying insurance, yet they insisted that insurance does not cover it, even though it wasnt myself. Was gunna charge me 200 dollars to fix the phone, so i went and bought a new one from elsewhere instead. I was on hold for an hour the other day waiting for someone to get me off hold.

Also, I have been missing calls from work due to my alarm stuffing up and the sound on my phone stuffing up, or the lack of reception! I am not happy with vodafone at all!! As soon as my contract runs out, I am switching to Telstra.
4 Jan 2011 11:05:29 AM: Why wait for your contract to terminate? Contact the TIO, details can be found on the tab 'How To Complain' at the top of the page.

ive been with vodafail for over 12 years and always loved it until a year ago when it really got harder and harder to do simple things like call or sms, i run a small bussiness with 4 mobile employees and when i cant contct them or them me it makes me lose business which in turn costs me alot of money.

It frustrates the hell out of me when i would have spent tens of thousands of dollars and all i get is an overseas call centre that leaves me on hold and ignores my very real problems.

Not to mention that they wrongly put a credit default against my name because some of the details matched mine!!!!!! Took three months of HARRASMENT for them to even hear what i was trying to tell them and then when they realised it wasnt me (mind you i was in the middle of trying to get finance for a home loan) the asked me to pay for it anyway!!!! I refused and a month later they then removed it after i had PAID for my own legal team to go after them!!!!

I dont not have home phone or internet so my mobile phone is my life line. I also run a business with my phone. I am constantly having to call clients - family back as my calls constantly drop out. Most recently I had no service for days although my phone showed full service bars. Not being able to contact anyone was frsuatrating and I do not pay top dollar for a a service which include data services IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. When I spent all day last week trying to call vodafone as the local branch near my home closed down.... I was on hold for hours - called back, call dropped out - was going to have them call me back within 30mins (try 5 hours) to have a rude man tell me I was not the only person will issues. All I want is to terminate my contact - I will pay for the damn phone (just want my vodafone phone number disconnected) and they wouldnt listen to me.

Have received 10+ voicemails and even more SMS all in one go... Problem is.... Messages were left 2-10 days earlier.....

Service was disconnected twice due to vodafone dropping my direct debit info.

Have spent many hours over the last 15 months inshore, many more hours on the service/help (sic) line with operators disconnecting me when unable to assist or answer questions, so they 'transfer' me to no-one.

And to top it off, I even have 2 text messages from vodafone asking me to call them because....wait for it.... 'we can't get hold of you on your mobile'!!!!!

If they can't call me, how in the heck am I supposed to call them?!?!?!? My other phone (tin cans and string) don't reach Mumbai.....

And on more than a number of occasions I was told it is apples fault.... ..... And this was after 7 months of dramas and vodafone told me it would take up to 3 weeks to fix/swap the phone, so I waited for new software (which made no difference to the crap network service), finally got fed up enough to travel half a day to the Apple store and they swapped it over in less than 10 minutes... And guess what PROBLEM IS STILL HAPPENING ON THE NEW PHONE

VODAFONE YOU SUCK, you have cost me hundreds in lost business revenue, countless hours on hold (or 'try this try that' reset, reboot, oh and don't forget NAP TIME), and more than a couple of nights lost sleep due to stress and frustration!!!!

And yes vodafone, all this is logged in your crm system.

Oh, and get rid of Lara - she is as useless as udders on a frog.

10227 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is failing and needs to get it's act together at 4 Jan 2011 09:05:56 AM
Calls have been coming through and going directly to voicemail. A missed call has not been registering. My phone doesn't even ring and on some occasions I won't receive notification of the voicemail until the following day.

I have little to no reception where I live (Dunlop). The 3G internet is very slow and several times a day my Iphone registers no internet connection at all.

Further to this, I waited on hold for 50 minutes on 14th of December to order a new Iphone which I was advised would take anywhere up to 3 weeks. I called last week and was on hold for 70 minutes and hung up out of sheer frustration. I then called back on the 31st December and waited on hold for 20 minutes to be put through to a call centre in which I was told that I would receive the handset by the 6th of January... I am still awaiting the new handset at this stage.

10191 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Internet will not activate on new iPhone 4 at 4 Jan 2011 04:11:13 AM
I purchased an iPhone 4 on 27.12.2010. Calls in and out work, however, I have not been able to access the internet and I signed up for the new Infinite 100 gb data plan per month - they are actually advertising it currently on TV.
I told Crazy Johns Central Coast NSW, that as an internet business owner it was critical for me to have mobile internet access. The only reason I moved from Optus was because the Optus shop had a 4 week wait for the iPhone.
We have spent hours on hold on the phone to Vodafone support......the first time 2hours and 15 minutes, only to be told by the third person we spoke with, that Vodafone Iphone support did not work after hours and someone would call back - they didn't.
We went back to the shop - they changed the sim card, the iPhone and still no internet. They were on hold for over an hour - and reactivated the account and still no internet.

The lack of professional, fair and reasonable after sales support is appalling.
If my business treated customers with such contempt we'd be out of business.
Vodafone - WAKE UP!!!!!!!!! Having a meeting with the CEO is fine.....but what is to come with it....A vote of No Confidence with the company in Australia - Vodafone as a carrier or the CEO's - just pathetic.
I've told the Manager at Crazy Johns that I feel sorry for her and her team having to tolerate it. So why does a dealer tolerate it????? and why would a dealer sell a product and service when there are sooooooo many unhappy customers due to the lack of delivery of the promised service - WAKE UP DEALERS - you will lose customers and they will NEVER return.
I am heading in to the shop soon to return the iPhone 4 purchased and cancelling the contract - because the service relative to the contract simply has never been delivered. End of story and thank you for this forum! Maybe you should be the new CEO when the current one is outsted! :)
4 Jan 2011 08:46:36 AM: 100gb per month? No phone plan exists like that. There's a $100 plan with 4gb, but that's as high as it goes with out data pack addons.

10190 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is India _ Vadone is the same here at 4 Jan 2011 02:36:18 AM
Vodafone is the same here. Customer care puts you on hold with music which can last upto an hour. Charges are deducted for offers not taken and offers given when they were sought to be blocked in the first place. The matter was brough to the Attention of Sir James Bond Chairmanof the Group at UK but I guess even the wise men there are more worldly now. Its just silence that greets you from there.

10188 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is sweet & sour at 4 Jan 2011 01:36:57 AM
I sit here typing this post thinking about the good & the bad experiences I've had with Vodafone. So 1st the positive. I live in the Sydney Metro area.I've been with Voda & Nokia since 1992. In that time I've always had a reliable mobile phone service with them. I've paid my bills & the reception was mostly ok with only a few grey areas of poor signal strength. Went to Cobar a few times (far west about 7 hours drive)& absolutely zero signal. Part of the 6% & 132,000 people that don't get Voda service (that's left to Telstra). In 2008 I bought a new PC & went with Vodafone with a broadband modem. On occassions I have had the need to converse with customer service. Enter the much dreaded Indian call centres. The waits on hold have often been beyond belief? That recorded voice LARA soothingly saying "won't be much longer we're flat out at the moment"? Somewhat hard to take after being in the Queue for 65 minutes. Sometimes I would do Basil Fawlty pround, swearing at LARA in frustration. Eventually my problems were sorted. Then came BLACK Tuesday 7/12/2010. Internet OUTAGE?(although my mobile ph. service was fine?) Oh no, I've got to deal with that LARA again. In total I consumed over 7 hours of time = Tu/Wed/Th/Fr. Occasionally I got through only to be told just a small technical problem & all should be ok SOON? I later found out, via IT media, that Vodafone was changing over to another main network provider & had struck major technical difficulties. The SMALL problem only affected the Eastern Seaboard States of Australia. I.E. Qld.,NSW, Vict.& Tas. ONLY? Well by Friday I'd had enough & went to Allphones & signed up with Virgin Broadband (Optus network)for 12 mths. Same 8GB deal & same price $39pm = $468 pa. One vital difference is with excess usage charges. Vodafail charge (sneekily) 10c a KB. Only 10 cents one thinks, big deal. Not so if you go a GB or two over in any month, which I did in Oct. & Nov. 2010. Also keep in mind that on the 8GB plan = about $5pm/GB return to Vodafail. Well I remember gasping on the total bills for Oct.& Nov. of $484 incl.GST. This was more than my total normal 12 mth broadband bill. Difficult to accept but as it was in the contract I was obligated to pay it. In contrast Virgin charge $15GB for excess useage abt 1/7th of vodafails. Then fear crept into my mind as I had to try & contact Vodafail & LARA in India again. This was to cancel the Broadband service(the contract period had expired) Well, another hour of my life was consumed & their on hold music is crap, distorted & repetitious. With LARA constantly assuring me once more "won't be long ....etc". If I ever meet any Laras in real life I'm not sure how I'll react? No doubt the real live laras would all be nice girls? Anyway I get through to someone, hooray at last. After getting grilled about the problem (5 minutes)it's sorry wrong section. Next section same thing another grilling & on to another department. Then Jackpot someone authorised to make decisions. Their attitude changed on the fact that I was cancelling one account & could also flick the off contract ph. a/c too. Maybe a lot of cancels were happening that week? In the wash up I was sweetened up with the full waiving of the Oct./Nov broadband bill & I was put on a 12 month $29 cap plan. The waiving of the fees,I feel, compensates me for all the pain & suffering I went through with LARA etc. The Virgin/Optus broadband works better = stronger signal & my VODA phone is good now too. Other things I note. Vodafail have increased their call charges. For me the old was $1min. now $1.35min. On my old service the bill showed 1,000 minutes of voda2voda calls. I was ineligible as was not on qualifying plan? Vodafail forget about loyal long term customers? As market forces see better plans evolve = more GB I found I was on the lower shelf. 2 years ago I was on 5GB for $39 internet. Then they were offering new deals of 6GB for $39. It was only when I asked (via THAT LARA AGAIN) that they gave me an exta FREE GB/mth. They sent me back slapping emails about how generous they were. It was the same deal when they upped it to 8GB. What I'd like to see is some sought of credit system on the monthly allowance that factors in well below cap usage. Like last year in total I used around 45GB out of a total allowance of 96GB. Acually that underusage is a bonus to them as they can resell my unused, 51GB, space again & therefore get a double dip? Australians pay through the nose for mobile services? I'll certainly be looking at better deals in 12 months or so. As with a lot of things you don't know the true value of service until something goes wrong. 2 cases here,1 is recalls with cars & their CEOs refusing to admit there is a problem? 2. Vodafail Aust. CEO playing down problems. Like I saw no announcement from Vodafail about their broadband network had failed in December? CEO speak always tries to play down gross operating problems. I think Vodafails quest for extra profit (cheaper operating networks & 3rd rate 3rd world call centres) is the root cause of most the problems users are discussing here. More oversight & regulation is needed.

10167 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EXTREME at 3 Jan 2011 07:51:42 PM
I have been with Vodafone for quite some years now and particuarly in the last year their services have failed me numerously. I have the new iphone 4, and like most people, I have limited to no internet service around the home and on the road, along with extreme delays in downloads, constant drop outs and most times call connections dont even go thru, and if they do, its only after the 4th attempt at calling. I am a young girl that has to spend many hours driving on the highway up to north queensland every couple of weeks, and it scares me to think if I were to break down I would be stranded in middle of nowhere, my phone alot of times doesnt receive calls or send calls, it just goes straight to voicemail without even ringing and doesnt send messages, so to me I have no assurance that I am safe. Also the main issue I have is the constant messages I receive from Vodafone saying that my calls have been blocked and that I need to call customer service to update my address details. Once I called, they had no explicable reason for cutting my phone off, and stated that all bills had been paid on time and they really didnt undsertand and ASSURED it would never happen again. Needless to say this happened every week for around 2 months. And Im sure everyone understands that having their calls blocked for no apparant reason, then having to wait on-hold before finally speaking to someone who most times in barely understandable or calls dropping out in the process of being half way thru conversation to them after all that time of being on hold..it takes around about an hour each time to come back online after THEY stuffed up. This makes it impossible to conduct business or personal matters. Now they have unexplicably blocked my online account and cant explain why they have done that either. So to pay the bill, I must sit on the phone, get halfway thru, then it flicks up "call failed". There is no wonder that Vodafone has left a bad taste in the mouths of almost every person using them!! It has cost us all time and money!

10138 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is shit at 3 Jan 2011 04:30:40 PM
vodafone would not honour my phone insurance policy unless i could prove that i requested insurance when i took out the plan. after i found a document to prove it they charged me a massive price to 'backpay' the insurance account. after this, they advised that there was a $200 excess on the insurance, which was more than the handset was now worth. i have recently signed up on a new 2 year contract with vodafone and it has now been 3 weeks since they started to charge me for the new plan, but i still haven't received my new handset. i called them today, was on hold for about an hour and transferred to 4 different indians who barely spoke english, before i was told that a consignment and order number diddn't match - so they didn't send the phone.. the last indian i spoke to said it would be here within the next 5 business days... i won't hold my breath
3 Jan 2011 04:44:41 PM: well no company would jsut take your word for it LOL and its funny how you never complained when you didnt pay for it, only when you wanted to make a claim. Why is is fair you should never pay for insurance but still make a claim? Now who is a fail?
3 Jan 2011 07:44:09 PM: The insurance is actually provided by Marsh Insurance, not Vodafone, so your blaming them is misguided.
3 Jan 2011 08:36:28 PM: Free insurance!love it!

10135 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Customer Service at 3 Jan 2011 04:13:23 PM
I am with vodafone for the internet. Although my contract ran out about four months ago. When my contract ran out I rang them up. I was on hold for about 50 minutes, when I finally got through I told them that I wanted to cancel my internet service. The operator said they can not do it from there end they have to get the technicians to ring, which will be 24-48 hours. Guess what no phone call. I rang them back a week later told them the same thing and that I had already rang the previous week. The operator said the same thing technicians have to ring me. Guess what one week later still no phone call. I rang back and tried again, of course it was the same answer as the last to phone calls. So my husband said don't pay them. So we didn't pay them for four months they kept charging and now they have just cut my internet off. I have now gone prepaid with some one else. But as soon as that bill is paid they will connect me back up and its going to be the same story of trying to disconnect.

10103 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very at 3 Jan 2011 01:16:44 PM
I went to a vodafone outlet in my local shopping centre and we waited 5 minutes to be served. This was fine till i noticed that the young man was chatting on facebook. When he bothered to look up he asked, "are you ok". This was on a public holiday and the staff member was on double time. Wish i got double time to chat on facebook. When I made a complaint to the store manager he did not take it serious and tried to make up excuses as to why he was on facebook 'he was on the phone so was just looking at facebook while on hold'. The young man was not on the phone and as far as I'm concerned this is not an excuse and they should not be on facebok while at work when customers are waiting. I dont know if vodafone quite understand that their customers are fed up with this nonsense.
3 Jan 2011 01:55:43 PM: what vodafail store was this, we must name and shame them!!! so customers know not to go there
3 Jan 2011 04:50:04 PM: they are probably fed up with annoying people too

10098 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is total fail at 3 Jan 2011 12:49:35 PM
When I lodged my complaint today they asked for specific locations where it drops out and where I experience network failure (phone dosent ring, no 3G etc) they said each was a single and new complaint that I would have to lodge. So if went to the beach and my phone failed -- new complaint. If I took the dog for a walk and phone didnt ring and I just got a voice message --- new complaint.
I told the guy if this was a joke and he said no. So my complaint just covers my home.
Why dosent Vodafone have more staff on to cover these high customer demands. Spend my whole day on hold.
3 Jan 2011 02:17:36 PM: that is the same problem i have had and they say i have to pay the money to cancel my contract ha vodafone is a joke

10092 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is FAIL! at 3 Jan 2011 12:38:22 PM
Ok so, used the call back option & they called back, spent the next hour & 5 min on the phone of which half I was on hold for. Got transferred to 4 diff departments for each problem I am having

1) No internet reception from internet mobile stick at home or at work (I live IN TOWN) - Solution - Apparently the coverage at my unit is good (it is non existant - I lie - I do get to see one internet page every 10 mins- WOHO) So they have "escalated" the problem and I get to hear back with-in 72 hours.

2) Emergency calls only at home from Cell Phone - Solution - put my sim in another persons mobile and if it doent have the same problem then I may get a replacement handset - last time I checked every other cell provider stocks "Samsung" phones, hmmmmmm do you really think it is the brand new handsets fault?!?!

3) I am unable to contact Vodafone Via the Free 1555 from my VODAFONE handset and havent been able to after telling them twice in the last 6 months of my new contract - Solution - Escalated problem will call me back with-in 72 hours.

4) Seen as I have had to ring the 1300 from my mobile due to not being able to ring the 1555 free number I would like the amount of credit I have had to use calling them due to their fualt of not loading the 1555 number on my phone - I presume - All credited back to me. Solution - HUNG UP ON!!!!

*Waits grumpy but patiently for results*
3 Jan 2011 12:43:06 PM: I just got off the phone to them (3 hours in total) issue has been upgraded to Networks to look into it so I can then talk to contracts to get it cancelled. Two departments and they tried to put me off to the iphone people for a chat cause it wouldn't connect to the internet in 3G (which is the basis of my complaint... no 3G network)... no I too wait the 72 hours for their investigation.
3 Jan 2011 02:23:07 PM: im having the same problem and am told to wait 72 hrs for an investigaton as well how does vodafone think they are going to get that many workers out to these suburbs for each person in 72hrs they most likey wont and just look at the coverage on the net
4 Jan 2011 12:42:23 AM: I live in Brisbane city and im having my internet connection cut out every half an hour or so....sometimes even more. I will be calling to complain tomorrow during business hours. Id go back to 3 anyday. Ive only had the service for 2 days and im already complaining!

Well someone did about 2 hours later, they tried to transfer me & the call dropped out. Peanuts! I have contacted & lodged my complaint with the Telecommunication Ombudsman

10001 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Incredibly fail at 2 Jan 2011 06:18:56 PM
I get dropped calls, data rates that my old 56k modem could beat, incredibly poor coverage, call ghosting and have spent over 15 hours on hold to customer care. I've changed phones at my own expense and tried friends phones. I'm at my wits end with this. And so sick of hearing Lara tell me Rio hang in there. I know for a fact you won't be with me really soon. Release me from this contract so i can get a Telstra Sim.
2 Jan 2011 06:26:41 PM: At a guess, The TIO will be able to help you out of your contract. Check out the 'How To Complain' link at the top of the page (Make sure you follow all steps, as the TIO will require all of the information). Best of luck.

9938 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Making me an angry person at 2 Jan 2011 01:39:48 PM
I have been with vodafone on the same number for 15 years.
High volume business user- Approx $1000 per month- OS calls mostly
They are just a disgrace.
Continual drop outs. OPtus email adresses dont send or receive.
Voicemail recieved sometimes up to 24 hours after message is left
Have been trying to resolve for months.
100's of hours on hold to call centre in INdia.
Have made so many complaints.
Thretened to sue them last week. They told me that they are coonducting a review and if they can not fix problem they will release me from my contract.
This is the next Ansett! This business must go under- It is just not right
2 Jan 2011 01:55:44 PM: I dont think they will go under, especially at the rate they are signing up new customers, besides the less competition, the worse for us consumers. I think they will entangle themselves out of this pickle, just a question of how and when. Staff in store today more open about the issues, and apparently although there are alot of us disgruntled customers, there are even more loyal customers unnaffected or maybe they just dont know any better
