26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

12344 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Failing worse then ever at 12 Jan 2011 06:31:17 PM
I emailed Vodafone on 27th Dec. STILL have had no reply. Before this and during this time I have called maybe 20- 30 times. I have been told I would get a call back, never happened, been on hold for over 1 hour several times, been told they have technical difficulties, been told to hang in there etc etc... The complaints were for things such as no service, messages taking days to send, calls not connecting, calls hanging up after 20 seconds, problems in which both me and my partner were having. Every complaint we had made either via email, phone or at the store has included both of us. He emails them yesterday and already got a reply (yet they can't reply to me?) saying he has never tried to contact them before so the contract will not be broken.... In the email he sent he referred them to our original complaint email (and the 10 or so after that) and the calls he had made yet they would not budge saying he hasn't contacted them. Not only was the email rude they did not even offer any answers as to why we have these problems or how to fix them! After calling again today and being told 3 times they have technical problems we really don't know what to do!
12 Jan 2011 06:42:47 PM: Check out the how to complain link at the top of the page, Escalate the issue to the TIO and they should be able to get you out of your contract. Then sign up with a decent Telco. Best of luck and let us know how you go.

no probs signing a contract ...
god help u trying to cancel it.
was on hold for an hour and a half in which time i had a shower, blow dried my hair and heard lara tellin me the wait coz it won't be too much longer.
finally got thru to a rep who i requested compensation from for calling a 1300 # from an Optus number on top of wanting to cancel my contract.
he advised me he would transfer me to the right department - a department which informed me via an automated msg tht it was closed over the christmas and new years holidays.
went to a store after that and was informed by a rep that you can only cancel via customer service.
spent another hour on hold in store.
gave up and told the rep i had enough i couldnt wait any longer.
the rep actually OFFERED to do it for me .. i was hesitant but i thought hey he's offered .. all i asked was for a callback if he couldnt ...
2 weeks later and nothing.
this is the worst experience!!! dont understand how a compant can get away with this!!!!
12 Jan 2011 05:56:38 PM: Hi Ho, Hi Ho, its off to the TIO you should GO. With a click of a link, at the top of the page, Hi Ho, Hi Ho, Hi Ho.
13 Jan 2011 12:16:37 PM: I called twice, 2st time, 2 hours and 15 mins no one picked up and I gave up then 2nd time 45 mins and no one pick up, I gave up again, strict to their website and complaint and request them to cancel my service demanding a email confirmation of the last day of the service. That still took them 10 days to come back to me but at least I am out of Voda!! Now I got a phone with 3 and soon or later will become as bad as Voda since Voda owns 3 now. Good luck to you

12330 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Disgusting at 12 Jan 2011 05:09:41 PM
Have been trying to get through and actually speak to someone other than "Lara" for near on 2 hours now.

First call i was on hold for 45 mins before the call just dropped out, tried to call several times over the next 20 mins each time after getting past LARA it would ring and give me the message that they were having technical difficulties and to call back,

Still on hold 55 mins and counting and still havent spoken to anyone at vodafone.

So lucky i only have mobile internet with vodafone, and even happier that i only have a few months left on my contract. Dont know how a company that treats its customers so attrociously can still be in business!

Disgusting Vodafone, absolutely disgusting
13 Jan 2011 12:18:42 PM: My advice is you should cancel the contract as soon as you can

12313 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Appauling at 12 Jan 2011 04:22:01 PM
I had two services with Vodafone. One private, and the other paid for by my employer.

Whilst on holidays, I had misplaced my private phone and needed the calls diverted to my work number so I can receive calls from both services. Well lets just say there is about 5.5 hours of my life I am never going to get back.

* 1st call. Got through to someone in god knows where and explained what I wanted. Was told that it was done and would kick in within 10 minutes. Rang my private service as a test 3 hours later, and went to voicemail.
* Tried again several times over two days, and still no good.
* Rang Vodafone Customer Service and was on hold for 1 hour and 20 minutes. Noone answered. When I finally thought I was going to get through, got a voice prompt from the ever so "charming" Lara, that there was a problem and cannot continue. I was cut off
* Repeat previous point x4 times in two days
* Went to Vodafone shop in Sydney, and explained what I was after and what I had done so far. They rang the same number I did, and I was left standing there for over an hour. Gave up an hour later
* Became incredibly frustrated, gave up and ported service to another provider.

You suck Vodafone. Completely over your complete lack of service and competence (both in your people and your technology). Some other provider is now getting my money.
13 Jan 2011 07:20:52 PM: this one I feel for. This is a lack of knowledge of old school stuff like diverting. We don't talk about it much these days. I call it technology lost. I wish you'd talked to me. You can actually set this up yourself at vodafone.com.au just register and go to detailed diverting. When my wife or I are on a call and another call comes in the calls are diverted to the other's phone. You can adjust heaps of other stuff on your account too!

12307 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is bad service at 12 Jan 2011 04:10:52 PM
waited half an hour yesterday to have someone speak to me, they told me to reset all the settings on my iphone, then swap sim cards with another phone. none made any change at all. waited 40mins today then after talking to a very unhelpful operator got put on hold again to wait another 50 mins to tslk to the technician department to put an investigation in. now i have to wait 5 days to find out what happens. apparently ill be compensated although i mentioned to the operator that all i want is to cancel my contract.

this is very frustrating, hopefully vodafone will let me go with no fees

12306 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pretty fail at 12 Jan 2011 04:08:41 PM
A longtime Vodafone customer, I ordered a brand-spanking new HTC Desire online contract. Lovely. I receive it in the mail and discover a new SIM. Um, okay, I didn't need a replacment, but okay. Then I hop online, and discover I've been assigned a new number for the new plan. My old number has NOT been cancelled. I'm effectively paying for two accounts now.

Customer service explains I must not have specified that I wanted the new contract assigned to my existing account when I ordered the phone. This is possible. I don't actually remember seeing an option to do this. I *do* remember looking, although I also remember getting extremely frustrated at the fact that Vodafone's braindead orderform refuses to accept the address I give it as valid after 5 attempts. I might have been a little less than attentive to all the options when I finally managed to put the order from through on the 6th attempt.

So I get called back the next day and Vodafone's happy enough to make it so that the new contract is tied to my old number. So far, so good.

I'm providing the information that the accounts person is asking for. Then I get told something to the effect of "please hold for 2 minutes while we organise things here". Part-way through being on hold, the call ends abruptly. A line dropout? Irritating, but not serious - or so I think. I try to call back. I can't. In fact I can't call anyone at all. I restart my phone in the vague hope it might help. I get the message "Limited Service: Emergency Calls only". Whatever they did to my account to try to fix it has made it impossible for me to use it at all.

Of course this would happen right when I have no access to any other phone. I'm at home now, and guess who's spent the past 4 years happily thinking how smart they were becausing they were saving $20 to $30 a month by not having a landline?

I must now wait for my partner to come home so I can call customer support on his phone. From my previous experience trying to sort this out, I know that the accounts department, the department they tell me I need to talk to, will be closed. So I'm stuck until at least tomorrow with no phone access.

The phone itself, by the way, is lovely. Which just makes it all the more frustrating that I am currently completely unable to use it any capacity at all.
13 Jan 2011 07:23:29 PM: That's a horrible situation. Did you try the new SIM in case they activated that one?

12287 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Cant Pay My Bill at 12 Jan 2011 03:21:54 PM
Have been sent my email bill recently which I would normally print out and pay at Aus' Post with. They changed the format recently and one change was to remove the barcode for the bill. Three options on the email are 1) Download bill, 2) Pay online, 3) Log in to Vodafone. I wished to download my bill for the barcode to pay my bill but my bill is not available online, there is a error and it is not there. I logged in to vodafone to access my bill that way but only past bills are available, not the current bill. I called Vodafone (35 minute call (was ok, used my time on hold to clean up after my daughter)) and the operator was friendly and helpful but he could not access my bill either, he had the same problem as me with their website.. I ask that he email me my full bill, he said he would. I received a text message saying that the email had been sent, I have not received it yet. It has been 4 hours since and still no bill. I do not wish to pay with credit card (their website allows this, this part works it seems though I still can not see a bill to pay against) and I can not get a barcode to pay in person. How do I pay my bill now?? He told me to find a previous bill as the barcodes are the same, I may do but I wish to view a current bill also, its my right to know what I am paying for...
13 Jan 2011 02:17:19 PM: Still have not been sent my bill via email and the e,ail I intially received still will not download the bill from their website - site unavailable online. Pathetic. Dont they want my money???
13 Jan 2011 05:50:43 PM: They just sent me another text message saying that I can now get my bill online... You guessed it, it is still not available. Why do they tell me it is when it is not? I do not want to pay online (appears to be working), I want an itemised bill with a bar code. Gonna have to use an old bill as they do not seem able to provide a proper bill. Darn em!...
20 Jan 2011 11:43:51 AM: Got my bill online a couple days ago, took awhile.

I laughed when I read you had people suffering a 2 hour delay.
Harden up brothers. I called to see if they could put a hold on a sim card from a phone that was lost on Christmas Eve. 3 hours later (it became a challenge), a foreigner answered. I know this because he admitted he was not in Australia. He also couldn't understand what I was asking so he put me on hold again. after another hour and a half, I hung up. I emailed asking for someone to contact me and the reply stated that inquiry had been closed.
For a total of 3 days, someone could have been running up my bill and I had no power to stop it. The funny part is that when you do talk to the people at Vodafone, they know how crap the service is.

Txt messages don't get send, don't even try to phone customer services, 1 1/2 hour on hold at least every time, that is if you are lucky. They give you the wrong information and then you have to try and call them again. Such a waste of time. And please don't ever try to upgrade your phone, absolute nightmare!!

12260 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 100% FAIL at 12 Jan 2011 01:27:01 PM
Second time I've posted here...

Called 1555 3 times today (the call centre in fuckin' India!) and told them I want out of my contract. Told them that Vodafone breached the contract by not providing me with the services I pay for and the services they offered me in my LEGALLY BINDING contract. They preceeded to tell me that cancellation would cost me *cough cough* $486!!! I told them they can stick that and that they already owe ME money for failed services. They passed me up the line to their technical support section who tried to convince me there was something wrong with my phone... which I already know is perfectly fine as other network sim cards work without a problem. They put me on hold and then hung up!

So I called again... and sat on hold for 40 minutes... again... and explained the situation... again... and they passed it up the line... again... and I was told they would call me back... and then hung up on... AGAIN.

To think I once worked for this company...
12 Jan 2011 01:35:20 PM: Get onto the telecommunications ombudsman about that or go to a vodaphone shop and talk to them about it... leave the indian call centres a wide berth...
12 Jan 2011 02:27:34 PM: We realise how distressing dealing with Vodafone actually is and also the lack of Customer Care (as your example eloquently shows!).

It would be really great if the comments and replies do not refer to the overseas call centre in a mildly derogatory way.

By doing so it opens the door for an accusation of a racism bunfight which is not really productive at all.

Thanks and have a great day, oh and check out the How To Complain tab and take your matter to the TIO, I think you have a very valid case. Vodafail.com mod

Changed from another provider to Vodaphone 22/12/10, the next day after phone was all charged realised we couldnt get coverage in out house or local area, went back to Vodaphone store and was advised to call Vodaphone, which i did, they explained that there is issues in our area and they would forward my issue/problem on and we would have a reply within 5 days, they also sent a text message staing that, i have tried to call them numerous times and been on hold in excess of 45 minutes at a time and then get cut off, went into another Vodaphone store 9/1/11 and explained my problem that i cant get through to anyone and that the mobile is for work and that we have 2 small children and that we need to always be contactable, the staff member emailed vodaphone infront of me and advised me i would have a reply within 48 hours, to date i have had no reply or contact with vodaphone and we are paying for a mobile that doesnt work, what more can i do to change back to our old provider, this is ridiculous, TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE, will be spreading the word to NEVER chnage to Vodaphone.

I've already posted regarding my years worth of trouble with vodafone, including a recent incident overseas where i tried having my phone unlocked and was lied to with regard to the instructions just to get me off the phone with them, which resulted in me using my holiday time sitting in a london vodafone store on hold waiting for someone else to 'help', if thats what you can call it. At the same time i'd asked for my phone contract to be put on hold whilst i'm overseas coz obviously, i wont be using my aussie number - i told them this about 5 times and asked them to assure me that the phone would be put on hold. WOuldnt you know it, i check my bank statement and they've charged me the full months fee rather than the $11 or so monthly 'suspend' fee they said they would. HOW STUPID DO THEY THINK WE ARE???

12235 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Fail at 12 Jan 2011 11:39:02 AM
I have waited three days to try and speak to a customer representative just to find out details of my current contract.

The rep refused point blank to give me my details unless I told her why I wanted them which I thought was very rude.

So hang on, a customer can't ring your support line to politely ask for their start and end contract dates? I'd already verified my ID, pin code etc three times, twice with the same consultant but she still refused to provide me with this information.

She offered to put me back on hold and transfer me into a queue to speak to another department (apparently they can give me this information but she wouldn't until I told her why I wanted it.)

I of course had no more time to waste on hold and refused this offer.

Thinking I was smart I decided to go to All Phones the reseller who have access to the customer database only to find that they are now unable to provide this information.

Useless.

First of all I do not like Lara I am sick and tired of talking to a computer its just not right. Second of all My usage was saying that I was going over when I definately didnt I always monitor my usage and I barely use the internet anyway, so I spoke to a customer relations officer from Vodafone who was very caring and he told me that he was going to fix the problem cause he knew I didnt go over aswell & he put my plan up from 6gb to 8gb for the same monthly payment and apologized so I thought that was nice of him. Then a few weeks later I went to SMS 1512 50 times literally over a few days and got no reply to tell me how much usage I have been using. I rang Vodafone back to get that stupid Lara person & she could not understand what I wanted to do so I was cursing calling her every name under the sun as you would if you were very frustrated so I hung up and had a breather then I rung back and got through to where I needed to be so I had to wait on hold now I was on hold for 54 minutes to be exact I could not believe it luckily it was a free number to call from my mobile but still no one likes to be on hold for nearly an hour. Anyway I explained to the person about the SMS and she had no idea why that was happening and put me on hold to find out what was going on that took 10 minutes. The Lady said that If I want to find out what usage is to check on the internet on the website with my log in details, so I thought alright then ill check on there from now on until the SMS gets sorted out. I then asked when my contract was going to finish cause I knew that it was finishing up in the next couple of weeks but i just thought Id check anyway. When I did ask the lady told me because I upgraded to the 8gb from 6gb plan I was on another 12month contract and I was like wtf!!! no one had told me that I was another 12month contract I was never notified the guy I spoke to before gave me the upgrade in good faith until my contract ran out & now they tell me that there is nothing they can do about it. I cannot believe Vodafone I am so disappointed and I will be taking this matter further as i do not wish to deal with Vodafone again.

I have been trying to get through to Vodafail for 3 days now without any success. If I am not being to told to call back due to technical issues I am put on hold for up 40 minutes only for the call to dropped out. Finally yesterday, after several attempts at opting for the choice of receiving a call back instead on being on hold I was thrilled to hear the words of an actual person "Welcome to Vodafone"... too good to be true? I keep having trouble with drop outs, trouble with contacting landlines..
Issues with reception are a part of poor quality reception leading to repeating myself constantly with sentences when having conversations.
Poor customer service, wait times, poor resolving issues, drop out issues relating to customer care, no follow up calls made after an event of a drop out from members of staff on over three occassions!!!
Issues with 123 directories, a memeber of staff was unable to provide in formation within a reasonable time frame, contacted the customer service after up a chunk of credit was chewed up after the event. Had to get a supervisor, who then only paid me half back my credit, how stingy!!!

12193 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Mega Fail at 12 Jan 2011 06:47:00 AM
After asking around and from my own experience I have a theory that Vodafail support simply starts ignoring you. I started my battle with vodafone a week and a half ago trying to get my coverage issues fixed, or to get them to agree to waiving any penalties when I leave. After the hours on hold etc I'm finally told my case is being escalated and I'll be called on my land line at an agreed to time to troubleshoot. Never got the call. Since that time I've promised call backs that never came (4 times), been hung up on, simply not been able to get through due to network error (4 times) or gotten through and then got the message that there is a "technical error" and I need to hang up (6 times). Now I've gotten through, past Lara and the queue and the phone has simply rung and rung and rung for 5 minutes before I hung up. They are just avoiding me now aren't they? Anyway, I'm leaving and if they charge me for leaving my contract early I'll fight them every way I can.
12 Jan 2011 07:37:16 AM: Time to log the issue with the TIO - just document what you have done so far
12 Jan 2011 09:15:53 AM: Have now registered my complaint with the TIO, we'll see what happens. Regardless I'll be leaving Vodafail.

I called Vodafail yesterday to register my complaint with them, same problems as everyone else. After all the media on TV and the internet about Vodafails problems they tried to tell me it was my phone. So they got me to reset my phone while I was on the phone to them and offcourse the call was then disconnected due to the reset. I thought they might call me back since they had my number, I was wrong, no call back. I was not going to call them back and wait again on hold. I was thinking that this is how they are dealing with most of the complaints, blame the phone, get the customer to reset, then the customer is gone as the call drops out due to the reset. I only joined Vodafail as the sponsors my favourite V8 Super Car team, NEVER AGAIN will I resign with them.

Under contract so in the end i just stopped paying and got prepaid , still haven't been contacted by them. Also spent hours on hold or repeating the same shit to different people then getting the "we will have to transfer you to another department" after being on hold for 40mins then being on hold for another 40mins only to be told the same shit! I could go on for hours!
12 Jan 2011 12:52:30 PM: I have not been able to access my bill for 7 months either. same thing. spent two days talking to various idiots from vodafone. they have no recollection of my complaint so they can't cacnel my service because they think i never brought up this issue..... i am sooo angry right now. i think i'll jsut stop paying as well!!! get them to call me ... then i'll keep putting them on hold for three hours.

I call tonight, wait on hold for 1.5 hours and they tell me cancellation team closed 10 minutes ago. ARGHHH!!! you are USELESS vodafone!!!

12139 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Unbelievably bad at 11 Jan 2011 06:46:22 PM
Have been with Vodafone for just over 12 months and have never had any issues until about 8 weeks ago. Usual stuff - non or late receipt of SMS, signal going from nil to 5 bars even though I was completely stationary. Best bit was rang to complain and was placed on hold for 50 minutes on Sunday afternoon. When I finally got to speak to someone and said I also wanted to complain about the length of time I was on hold I was told "yes, fifteen minutes is a long time to be on hold". I politely pointed out that it was fifty minutes however that failed to elicit any response...I then lost the signal and was cut off..AARRGGGHHHH!!

I'm gonna fight tooth and nail to get out of this 6 day old contract!! Vodafone you suck!!!

12055 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is 10 weeks to connect service. Poor customer service and billing issues. at 11 Jan 2011 01:27:35 PM
Back on the 4th of September 2010 I upgraded my phone contract and as a result, became a vodafone customer.

The short version of the ever so long saga is...
I was told my iphone 4 would take 1 week to arrive, after 3 weeks still waiting, and several lenghty, on hold, phone calls I was told it was due to the large volume of customers. The phone then got delivered to the wrong address (somewhere in Sydney,I live in Melbourne) and signed for after now waiting over 4 weeks total.

This was when the real problems began. Vodafone started the new service on the new contract despite me informing them I didn't have the phone, I didn't even have a sim card for this new service...hence I was now not able to receive or make calls on my current phone. As I was heading overseas this was an issue, one they said they couldn't fix until I had posession of my iphone 4.

Instead of prioritising my case and sending me a new iphone, they tried to recover and resend the original one. This was such poor and inefficient service, too ridiculous to even justify. 2 more weeks went by and despite my attempts to with the customer service line, I kept getting different representatives who I had to go over every detail with again and again. My longest time on hold was 88minutes! Each time I was promised 2-3 more business days and my phone would arrive. 2 more weeks passed so we are up to 8 weeks waiting for my iphone 4 to be delivered and battling with a 1990 loan phone... I had had enough! I wanted the contract dissolved and wanted to be done with voadafone forever! When I demanded this be done I was put on hold for another 40 odd minutes before a new "supervisor" came onto the phone and told me I could go into a shop (4kms from where I live)and pick up a handset, pay for it and get them to connect it on the spot. Hooray was my intial reaction as in the coming two weeks I was sending 200 staff and students overseas to four different destinations and I was the emergency contact! I left the shop and was told by morning, my service would be connected.

Of course it wasn't and being a long weekend apparently there was nothing that could be done. MORE WAITING!! In the new week, again, several lengthy times spent on hold to the call centre occured and I was told that during the transfer of my number to the new service, there was a data error/computer glitch and my number got "stuck". I was told it would take 2 business days to sort out.

By now my job performance and reliability had been affected and the personal stress was totally absurd. It took 2 more weeks for them to "un-stick"/recover my number and finally on the 11th of Novemeber (10 weeks after signing up) and two crappy laon phones later, I had my phone in my hand and my serivce connected.

As the whole saga was just absolutely appauling, unprofessional etc I asked vodafone how they intended to compensate my for the trouble they had put me through. They offered me 3 months free, which I accepted. But of course I am now battling with them now as they are billing me, charging me for the iphone that I have already paid for and due to the incompetent notes on my file I am having to explain it all again. My last correspondance with them was through a vodafone store where the real life service agent and I spent 79 minutes on hold with them trying to get my billing issues sorted. Not even going into a shop gives you the right to quality customer service...what a joke of a company!

How anyone can operate a business like this is beyond me, I can't wait til my contract is done, I have told all of my friends to steer away from vodafone or any voafone carrier and I myself will never have anything to do with them again!

Lu (Melbourne)

I have been with Vodafone for over 4 years and in the past 6 months I have been disgusted with the level of customer service. Ques on hold of up to 1 hour and when I do finally speak to someone they can offer me no help, that is if they can speak English. The stores are not much better, advising I am the only one with these problems...any of these sound familiar:

No Coverage
Calls Drop Out repeatedly
Poor Battery Life, I have to charge my at least twice a day
Text and Voice Message delays, sometimes I don't even receive them

He told Voda that he wanted to cancel as the service is less than average, drops out and is slower than dial up.. you would not believe what the customer service assistant then said.... Im sorry our computers are down at the moment try and call back in the next 24-48hrs WTF? How can they check details of a customer then say their computers are down???

No reception - if by some slim chance I get reception it always drops out I have to repeatedly call the person back to say the reception dropped out!
I am on a $79 per month post paid cap but can only really use my phone to send sms/texts as calls and internet continually drop out. I have no reception at all on the train or at home.
Cannot use 3G data or if I can internet connection always drops out and will not come back
1 bar or no reception at all in Deception Bay
Quite often no reception at all at big shopping centres

Spent last 3 days on hold to customer service for over an hour every time but couldn't speak to anybody
11 Jan 2011 09:37:14 AM: My experience almost exactly - in Lithgow, NSW. I signed up six weeks ago and the only way I can be at all sure of completing a phone call or getting all my email is to drive a few kms to Hassans Walls, the highest lookout point around or take the train to Sydney and start using my phone and computer after pasing Bell. Join Vodaphone and see the world!
11 Jan 2011 01:09:25 PM: Come on. Don't let the truth stand in the way of a good story especially when Lithgow is so damn hilly and whoever signed you up would have warned you of coverage being patchy in that area and guess what? You signed up anyway.

The network is pathetic! I get one bar on the network almost everywhere, and there are frequent call drops as well. Sometime the call goes blank and I end up talking to myself for a couple of seconds before it comes back. The 3G is painfully slow at times. My phone remains unreachable at home because I get no signal unless the phone is kept on a high table. Don't even get me started on their customer service; I've been kept on hold from an annoying 30 minutes to a frustrating 80 minutes before someone answers the call, and even then they are incompetent in their handling. They promise to call back but never do. What have I gotten myself into?

Again, in another important business dealing over the phone, and out of the blue the line dropped out and seconds later I realised I was talking to myself. The mobile broadband is pain in the neck, in Strawberry Hills (Australian Post HQ) next to Surry Hills, the speed is a few bytes per second.

Called for disconnection, was put on hold for over 1 hour, gave up and pissed off, they literally don't give you the chance to speak to network connection team or the network connection team simply put everyone on hold to avoid resolution.

In 34 days, tried to contact customer service 14 times, and only 1 successful chat with a human, whom kindly directed to another department only to be put on hold until I gave up again.

It seems that TELSTRA is now the best amongst the 3, all phone calls are attended promptly, and yes HUMAN not put on hold with machine!!!!!
11 Jan 2011 10:07:04 AM: I had the same result when trying to make arrangements to pay out my contract - I was bounced to several different departments, each of which placing me on hold for an hour minimum - after the fourth attempt I felt that they were deliberatley trying to avoid having to action my request and gave up. I feel defeated by Vodafone

Current 3 customer, moving to VF with DHD + infinite plan. Seemed like a good idea at the time! I don't even have a service yet.
Delivery date I was given came and went. Called Customer Service. Told I was given wrong info and expect to wait up to another 2 weeks.
Handset arrived. Called their 1300 number to activate. Told 24 hours for porting to complete.24 hours came and went.
I called CS. 20 minutes on hold. They couldn't find out what the
problem was. Advised they'd call back within 30 minutes.
30 minutes came and went. They didn't call.
A couple of hours later I called again. On hold for 37 minutes before being
cut off. Called again. Cut off after 13 minutes. Looked at complaints
area on website. It reads "Apologies, but our email form is temporarily out of order." They suggest calling instead. Called again. Call dropped out again after over 30 minutes on hold. For what it's worth I emailed a complaint.

I'm not sure how they can call this Customer Service.

11860 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is less fail then this site at 10 Jan 2011 09:25:15 PM
Now this page you can freely share your thoughts of the company and blame what every telecommunication problem has.

All companies at one stage make mistakes by over charging customers, waiting calls and reception issues except for telstra(which you pay a fortune for). They all perform repairs and expansions, YOUR ON HOLD FOR ANY PHONE COMPANY for 20-30 minutes, i was on hold the other day for half an hour. The representatives are doing there jobs. There is always a high call volume, but they were kindly to help, i transfered one of my numbers and talked to them about my bill enquires, i've been a long term customer and too see people complain about reception and privacy issues is totally not entirely the companies fault. There is always scammers and leakes of all information completed illegally...eg wikileaks. The media has portrayed the story like any other story to make it even worst or enticing to sell papers and gain viewers.

Your on hold on the phone cause no one knows how to use a phone, in particular an iphone!

ITS VERY ENTERTAINING WATCHING A BIG COOPERATION FAIL!

easy steps such as switching you handset to 2G mode will help out with regards to making out goin calls. Reception isssues aren't always on the company. It can be your headset or the materials your housing is made of or if your in a rural area.

There is sometimes dirty people that will come to your door and sell you something or representatives on the phone. I got a F@#%ing call from telstra saying to move over there network they promisd me all this crap and i knew it was false. they said they were gonna weavier all my cost to move over and alter stated they'll give me 200 for the cancellation fees. It is not directly linked to the company.

THIS IS WHY YOU GO INTO STORES AND KNOW YOUR CALL RATES, COVERAGE, COST, etc.
and if you do have an issue i sure they'll be glad to help

DON'T get rolled

If you are struggling with reception issues im pretty sure vodafone are kindly to help if your patient enough. Nothing will happen with a click of a finger.

My friend at his house couldn't get vodafone reception or any other network other then telstra working there. The team at vodafone had launched a investigations an gave him a waiver to leave the company.

AND IT'S NOT THE BEST JOB TO BE IN A CALL CENTRE. people are very racist in there comments to the people that try to assist you.

NO ONE IN AUSTRALIA WANTS THESE JOBS!

Face the facts guys, your gettting a deal so what if your calls drop out once or twice a day.

your getting better value with the company.

IF YOU CAN'T MAKE CALLS AT ALL i'll definately be pissed of my self

most of you sound like do have an issue with the company and its understandably to be frustrated but who sold you the phone and why did you join in the first place?

are we all trying to get free phones and compensation
everyone has there own experience with a company.

Technology is growing and companies need to find a better way to check coverage that are more accurate and if not the customer should receive incentives that are reasonably they are will receive.

10 Jan 2011 09:35:16 PM: RE: most of you sound like do have an issue with the company and its understandably to be frustrated but who sold you the phone and why did you join in the first place?

I called directly to the callcenter of vodafone, to get 24 months contract, because on the vodafone website they promised me 100% fast 3G coverage in my area.....

Not the person on the phone warned me off problems in my area, nor did the website....I never have 3G and hardly can make calls or receive calls, so they ripped me off......

11 Jan 2011 05:41:35 AM: I like the rant above - im sorry some of the call centre staff recieve abuse, racism or what ever is said to you. However the fact remains Vodafone is a bunch of liars, they have intentionally decieved people with misleading ad's and false information. When i toured India my phone had better coverage then what it does here in the middle of Sydney. As for your assertion that Australians don't want jobs maybe you should have a bit of a loiok at yourself and how racist you are?
17 Jan 2011 10:20:04 PM: The above was almost definitely posted by a PR of vodafone haha

I am a new vodafone customer not even a month has passed but am not at all happy with vodafone. i thought vodafone is better than 3G so i transfered my nbr to vodafone on 12th dec 2010 n was told my fone will activate in 48hrs but it did not. so i kept calling vodafone customer care 14th dec2010 but was on hold for minimum of 2hrs n got disconnected so i went on calling but always was on hold for so long. so i called 3 and asked, so they said to call vodafone n request to import my nbr from 3 to vodafone i did that too n was told by vodafone IVR that my fone will get activated in an hour but it did not happen so i again kept callin vodafone customer care but on hold n nothing else till 17th dec2010. so i went to the 3dealer on 18thdec2010 from whom i had taken my fone n after one hour my fone was activated. but i started facing problem with my handset so again i called vodafone customer care {VCSR}but again on hold for hrs together again n again n no answer at all. by luck i got some live person n i was asked to go to the dealer n change the handset . but no use. again i called many times but always was given different answer by VCSR.at the end i went to the dealer they said they cant change the handset but will repair so i gave it to repair. so i am using my sim on my old handset. am facing coverage problem, calls drop out, also wanted to chk my balance so logged on to vodafone.com.au but failed in all the above problems the website isnt working i cant login plus no answer on thw fone it gets disconnected wenever i call csr saying that they have some technical issues how many times should i call csr? am fed up not even a month n so many problems with vodafone. its jopeless also i have complaint to the customer care ppl i got to speak to abt the long hold they gave an answer its due christmas n new year they have such a long hold. i dont believe this. i want to end my contract with vodafone n go back to 3 am happy n also want compensation for wasting my time n energy
10 Jan 2011 09:27:51 PM: why didn't you just go to the store?
10 Jan 2011 11:52:16 PM: For goodness sake some people should do some basic research to see who they are doing business with - 3 Mobile and Vodafone are merged now and operate under a single umbrella called VHA. They share networks and have minimal coverage.
13 Jan 2011 08:03:21 PM: They don't share networks and the coverage is quite incredible (the Newell Hwy is my favourite stretch oh and using your phone in broken hill is cool). Congestion is the enemy. For goodness sake some people should do some basic research. ;)

I had a new contract begin Jan 6- this was for an iphone4 that I ordered on 16th Dec (3 weeks ago). I received a phone call to confirm delivery on Fri Jan 7 and had to confirm someone over the age of 18 would be at the delivery destination. I waited home all day-NO IPHONE. I then called customer service and after waiting online for 115minutes was promised it would come on Monday 10th. Guess what-NO IPHONE. I then called customer service, was on hold 45mins before the line dropped out. I then called again straight after, waited another 45mins before the line dropped out. I called back 4 more times and after getting to the menu and pushing the options i needed, it said "I'm sorry there has been a technical error. Please try again later". This is utter rubbish. I haven't mentioned when I called 3 weeks ago to order my iphone, I called 17 times and was disconnected immediately every time. I am aiming to terminate my new contract and also my partners contract if possible. FAIL.
10 Jan 2011 08:09:33 PM: This also happened to me! Although I ordered mine the beginning of December. Anyways waited at home all Friday and today. Called up and asked for the consignment number. Looked up my deliver on the AaE website and it said that they only received the item at 8:20PM today! I won't receive it until Wednesday. So much for the multiple phone calls telling me my phone will be here Friday.

I made 3 attempts at calling 1555 to upgrade my handset (I dont know why) arghhhh! Due to 'technical difficulties' my call was disconnected.

The 4th time i finally connected to 'lara'. With my enquiry issued, i was placed on hold for 57minutes before I reached a 'real' person.

Only to find that the department I wanted was closed for the day!!!!! I was then placed on hold AGAIN while the operator found me the right place to complain (at my request)

TOTAL time with a phone stuck to my ear listening to bad elevator music - 1 hour 3 mins. PRICELESS!

Some 30 hours to have my internet terminated 12 people I have spoken to on 1555,since 11/12/2010, been cut off, placed on hold, transfered to wrong dept, and to currenlty waiting for a call back which Lara told me would be 30 mins, today 10/01/2011, called at 4.53 pm told we'll ring you back within 30 mins & Yep still waiting at 7.30 pm.
I did notice how quick they were to donate large some of money to Floods appeal here in Qld Well done I noticed how quick they were to warn of a breach of private information leaked. Yet Lara & Co What about us the people who are waiting waiting waiting, I have placed a complaint in to TIO, I have a list of all 12 people I have had the pleasure to speak to be hung up by or tried to help me only NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE YET,Why do we allow this I will be ridding the problem as soon as they contact me what a Joke....Peter, No Service QLD

11805 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodafone sux at 10 Jan 2011 05:38:10 PM
I am having problems with my vodafone broadband. Every time I call customer support I am on hold for at least an hour being sent from person to person. The last two times has ended in the customer support staff telling to to take my usb stick into a shop to get it replaced. Every time I go to the shop they say they cannot do this for me....? The last shop assistant told me the customer support people like telling people to go to the shop as if it was a big joke. I have had vodafone broadband since last october and I have been really unhappy the whole time. When I tried to break my contract they said it would cost me hundreds of dollers. Vodafone sux.

11801 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Not a laughing matter at 10 Jan 2011 05:28:27 PM
I have been a customer of Vodafone for many years and, until recently, havent had any major troubles other than busy music festivals. For the past few months I haven't been able to connect to the internet, or if i do it disconnects in a matter of seconds, my phone has dropped out and I have been experiencing trouble areas where my reception almost never works. I rang Vodafone (foolishly assuming that my years of loyal payments would make them want to help me) and waited on hold as patiently as possible to be told that my phone network had to be checked for 72 hours before I could even try to cancel my contract, and if I did then I would be charged money for doing it.
As I havent heard back from them I assume I will have to call again and am predicting Vodafone will tell me that there's nothing wrong with my connection and that the problem must be a defect in my mobile (which it is not).

Does anyone have any advice on how I can cancel my contract without being charged a fee? Surely they have breached my contract by not providing me with the service that was promised. And now I hear about all these security issues!.. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, as I don't want to continue paying for- or be charged for leaving- this substandard network.

At this very moment I have attempted to contact customer service 1555 from both my mobile and the 1300 number on my home phone so I can finalise my final bill to switch to another carrier as my contract has ended. Attempt 1, 2 & 3 saw the call drop out after about a minute and each call back resulted in me having to sit through a 30 second spiel about how Vodafone takes customer infomation security seriously etc. The 4th time had me on hold for 25 mins, finally got through to someone and spoke half a paragraph only to have the call drop out. The rest of the frustrating calls resulted in a message from Lara saying ' We are experiencing technical difficulties, please hang up and call again'. ARE YOU KIDDING ME???????!!!!!!! THE ONLY DIFFICULTY VODAFAIL IS HAVING IS THE LARGE AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS THAT ARE COMING THROUGH.

11749 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Megafail at 10 Jan 2011 02:33:49 PM
In short: for the last month (and for some time before that but not to
the same extent), I have experienced terrible service from Vodafone.
Calls dropping out repeatedly, text and voicemail messages not arriving
or being very delayed, network dropping out completely and needing
repeated reboots of the phone, and extremely slow data. This is in every
location, not just at my home.

My experience of calling Vodafone has been:
1. The network team telling me it's a problem with my phone (iphone 3GS)
2. The iphone team telling me it's a problem with the network
3. The network team telling me that it is a problem with the network at
my house but that I then needed to talk to the iphone team
4. The iphone team telling me that is incorrect and I have to deal with
the network team to troubleshoot
5. Call dropped out
6. Spoke to the technical department who told me there was no problem
with the network at my house
7. Asked to speak to the disconnections department after being sick of
waiting and getting shuffled around
8. Disconnections department telling me that there is a well documented
issue with the vodafone network in Melbourne due to the 3 merger but
they could only disconnect me without a fee if I spoke to the network
team
9. I informed her I didn't want to wait another 45 min on hold so could
she have network call me back
10. Waited for call back, never happened
11. Called back and spoke to technical team who said they could only
escalate me to network if I troubleshooted with them which I couldn't at
the time as only phone around was my mobile which I was using
12. Called back later on my partner's phone, kept waiting over 45 min
only for the call to cut out
13. Next day spoke to technical team again, troubleshooted but this did
not help
14. Advised that could only escalate further if I could document 3 drop
outs at my house over 72 hour period, and if claiming a widespread
problem it must be 3 drop outs in each of 3 different documented
locations
15. Over weekend have had repeated delayed texts, call drop outs and
ridiculously slow data but in widespread locations including my home.

I emailled this to Vodafone customer help because i couldn't bear to deal with Lara and her mega wait time and this is the reply I received:

"RESPONSE:
Question: Why is there an unusual or unexpected charge on my current bill?
Answer:
View our online Bill Explainer here

If you notice unusual or unexpected charges on your bill, this may be due to the following reasons:

1. If this is your first bill since connecting to Vodafone, all standard charges for new accounts are charged from the date of connection until the start of the next bill cycle, plus one month of access charged in advance. This monthly fee charged in advanced will cover the next billing period. On your second bill, there will only be one monthly access charge. This is for your next billing period and is paid in advance. If you change plans, part of the monthly access charge that you have paid in advance wil be credited on a pro-rata basis................" etc. etc.

The amount of time I have wasted dealing with Vodafone is unbelievable, we are talking maybe 5-7 hrs of being on hold and dealing with terrible service from the staff members. After 2 months of calls failing to go through, falling out etc they finally lodged an investigation and stated it would be resolved in 72 hrs. Math isn't a strong point for Vodafone staff members, and then on Monday I call and it took 40 mins (finally spoke to a Supervisor)who stated that he was really sorry but the investigation won't be completed till Wednesday now. They promised it would be completed and resolved by the Monday. My wife was lucky and managed to be released from her contract but I'm still holding my breath.
It's an absolute disgrace, I can't make or receive calls in a major shopping centre 13km from the city!!! I hope the company goes bust.

11718 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Ridiculous!! at 10 Jan 2011 12:24:20 PM
I spent the month of Decmeber arguing to get my contract terminated with no cancellation fees attached (I had a contract with a carrier of Vodaphone). After MANY phones calls, hours on hold and talking to people who had no record of any of my previous complaints, my contract was terminated. I was told I would have to pay the fee and I said not to bother putting it on my bill because I would not pay it - so they didn't!!
My issues were the fact that I run a business using my phone as a point of contact and was missing a large number of important calls each day. People would call and my phone would not ring - just straight to message bank and then it would take ages for the missed call to come though (even though the phone said I had full service). Sometimes 3 days would pass and it would take me turning my phone on and off to get the message. Tech support told me numerous times it was not the coverage issue, it was the phone. I did everything they asked me to do and they still claimed it was not a problem. That's when I really got annoyed!!
I am very happy now that I have changed service providers and can't help looking back thinking of what a poor business Vodaphone is running (or attepting to at least!).
16 Jan 2011 12:26:21 PM: "who had no record of any of my previous complaints," Perhaps Vodafone would like to claim that it was someone with "unauthorised access" that wiped all records of your previous complaints?

Now we can all enjoy the added stress of wondering if someone is wandering around using our personal details.
Right now, I'm on hold trying to find out how to contact Vodafone and cancel my contract early. Their email form is "temporarily out of order" and you can't leave a message to be called back on the 1555 number. Got my new iphone and had to call to activate my micro-sim - It came with a purchase order, which I threw out. So I call Vodafone to activate it and they put me through to another line, after 45mins of waiting some guy who can barely speak english asks me for the purchase order number, which of course I don't have. I said can't you search by the SIM card number - the first guy said all I needed was the SIM card number. This guy says oh no you need the purchase order number - I will have to put you through to another department ad then you will have to come back to us - So I am once again put on hold. I started googling activating micro sim and found a dedicated phone number so I hung up and called that number & 2 minutes later it was activated - Thank you for your help Vodafone...not..
Oh..and I can't even make calls because if I even move 1cm away from a spot where I get some kind of signal the phone cuts out..What is the point!!!!!!!

My business phones are with Vodaphone. I should have realised when the phones did not arrive. I called on hold for hours, they were to be sent again. Did not show up. Finally 2 months later I got the phone. I was supposed to have 2 months free, I called on hold for an hour only to be diconnected when they answered. I am trying to run a business which relies on our phones. The line drops out all the time or I cant hear the other person. It makes me seem unprofessional when it is Vodaphone that is the issue. After having our fifth faulty handset replaced (in under 18months!) about 8 months ago, my husband and I have had a good run with Vodafone until december 18th 2010 when both our Blackberrys ceased making and receiving calls. Since then it has been a nightmare - texts are delayed up to 5 hours and internet access? Forget it! We have spent days on hold with staff having no idea how to service our phones. We have been lied to, repeatedly hung up on, abandoned on hold and been refused an audiotranscript of our calls as they had no capability to record(!!?). Our phones now work approximatly 5% of the time. We have had no assistance with the issue other than basic troubleshooting and a suggestion to upgrade our (less than 12 months old) handsets by recontracting for another 24 months - the staff don't even seem to know that there is a nationwide Australian issue! To add insult to injury - I recently received my bill! I don't think so Vodafone - it's not good enough. We have joined the class action.

11675 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 10 Jan 2011 10:31:52 AM
Our 24 month contract was up on Oct. 2010. Around that time, I had called to enquire about the Iphone 4. I was told it "would be available in 3 weeks". I was then contacted directly by someone in your office with an offer to renew, I again asked about the Iphone 4, "backlog, should be available in a few weeks". We waited for the next billing cycle and called again. Same story, I feel mislead. I was given specific times, relative times of Iphone 4 availability. None gave me the impression that it would be more than a few weeks away.

First week of December, I went directly into a store, enquired. They said they were available by phone. I called Anthony on Dec. 7. He confirmed they were available. My wife reminded me she made the original call to Anthony and was present when the change of plans was made. We had in effect, done the right thing and she was present. Anthony was aware of this, as we debated on whether to get my wife an Iphone 4. It was a lengthy conversation, where all aspects were discussed. Call backs were made, etc. She was present on speaker phone the entire time. She specifically came into the office to do this, as we knew she needed to be present.

Here is what we agreed upon, effective Dec. 7. I was told I would receive a pro-rata bill for the previous bus cap.

$100 unlimited plan, 24 month contract + Iphone 4
$100 unlimited plan, 24 month contract + Iphone 4

$45.00 $100 unlimited plan, no contract
$45.00 $100 unlimited plan, no contract

I was told Iphone 4 were available only 2-3 weeks AFTER all this. I had explained we wanted to change the plans and get the Iphones immediately. I had discussed we had been waiting months and told him we were excited to finally receive them. As you imagine, I was a bit surprised when he then told me 2-3 more weeks. I asked if I would receive before Xmas, and he said most likely. Mislead.

I began checking 1555 for a status update around Xmas time. I was confirmed the delivery should be week of 21/12. I contacted 1555 again on 29/12, I was told it "looks like it should arrive this week". I again contacted 1555 on Monday Jan. 3 (i believe that was you). I was told it "should arrive Mon or Tues" of that week. I then located Anthony's e-mail and contacted directly on Jan. 6. Here is a copy of his e-mail:

"Hi Robert,

I recently received an email from corporatesolutions@vodafone.com and they advised me that the order for upgrade and hardware is on hold because the person making the request is not the authorised contact on the account.

The authorised contact for your account is your wife and the request to order hardware and upgrade the plan would need to come from her. She can do this by calling or she can send in a Letter of Authority detailing this request, (company letterhead with ABN stated, physical signature of the director with the words director or CEO underneath this signature, and the request clearly stated.)

I sincerely apologise for this inconvenience Robert but can assure you that if this request is submitted by your wife then it will be handled quickly and efficiently. There is however an incredible backlog of iPhone orders and cannot confirm a delivery date."

I was then told by you after a few calls, that whole issue never happened, that Anthony had initially dropped the ball and then each successive person did not catch his initial error. I was told nothing could be done to immediately fix the problems.

Meanwhile, my iphone 3 was turned in for insurance repairs over 4 weeks ago, I was told 10 days max. Still no phone and no word from Vodafone. This is after 2 years of arguing on the phone about usage and tracking of usage. Confusing billing cost me $1,000's in overages in that time frame. How many times have I been on the phone arguing about usage being charged that I couldn't track, unless I went and physically counted usage on each bill. Smoke and Mirrors. It WAS the game, all the players know it.

So, I feel I would have changed plans when my contract was up. Other companies have Iphone 4's available, however, I was mislead that this would be happening very soon.

I have had enough of Vodafone. I have looked into other providers.

I had a prepay phone for awhile in Melbourne - when calling Vodafail I was often on hold to speak to a human (which took an eternity)only for the call to drop out when I was being transferred to the appropriate person. Since moving to Sydney both my partner and I have post paid accounts to get the new Iphone 4. My partner works in the CBD and coverage is a frequent problem - great way to impress his customers hang up on them mid-sentence?? Coverage is an even bigger problem in our unit. I had the fun job of doing the change of address calls including being on hold for many minutes to utility companies. Once again at a crucial time in the call it would drop - very frustrating.

11670 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is By locking us out due to privacy breech at 10 Jan 2011 10:12:10 AM
PASSWORD RESETS and the PRIVACY ISSUE:

A short while back I was locked out of Vodafone. Had to phone the 'friggin' call centre and go on hold for hours (again).

They said they would reset my password, but SURPRISE SURPRISE my new password was now 6 digits not 4 as previously.

I'm convinced that Vodaphone changed the network to require 6 not 4 digit passwords and that caused me and thousands of others to be locked out.

I had done nothing to cause me to be locked out. Eg entering wrong passwords.

Why did they do this? After reading the news of the PRIVACY BREECH of Vodafone customer data it is not hard to put two and two together.

QUESTION: To those of you who also got locked out - Did your password change from 4 to 6 digits. If it did I think we need to start to collate evidence on this issue to add to the class action.
14 Jan 2011 05:00:00 PM: Huh? Password for what? What are you locked out of?

1.Account woes. VF not following instructions and doing 'their own thing. Ongoing: cannot use my handset as they have inadvertently, once again, terminated the service, despite clear instructions that did not include or mention "termination of existing" but ADDING a number/servive to my plan.My God! They are hopeless!
2. Cannot try as I may, through various methods to contact VF , get to speak with anyone. Calls are terminated whilst on hold. VF obviously cannot afford decent phone facilities to handle inbound.
3. Coverage and dropouts. Numerous call drop outs and absolutely pathetic download speed - just not worthwhile bothering to use internet - its so slow.
4.Privacy breach : not able to get details as to whether my details have been compromised as I have received spam mail with specific details perhaps linked to my VF account.

11645 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Worst Customer Service Since One Tel. at 10 Jan 2011 08:46:16 AM
The first bill they sent me was 120 overcharged in three days as somehow I didn't receive any included cap. It took 5 hours with various cut outs from customer service to finally get to speak too someone. I am now in a battle to find out what happened to my purchase of the new Iphone 4 which was signed up over the phone some 5 weeks ago. I attempted to speak to vodafone last night and was disconnected 3 times whilst on hold to customer service at 29 mins, 36 minutes and the best was at 42.32 minutes. I actually got to speak to someone briefly. The conservation went welcome to Vodafone can I have your name please. I stated Paul then the call went dead. Not hung up just silence I waited a couple of minutes but got nothing. I have been on hold today for 47 minutes so far but at least haven't dropped out yet. I am a new customer only attempting to find out where the purchase of my phone is. I am lucky I live in Geelong and so far the network has been fairly good. At least better then 3. I am shocked that Vodafone is allowed to operate and is given a telecommunications licence in this country when their service is appalling. Our toothless tiger the TIO should be jumping up and down at the shoddy wait times and pathetic network problems. The only other company I have had this service with was the defunct One Tel which was around in the late 90's. Well done on the creator of this site.

11629 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MEGA FKN FAIL! at 10 Jan 2011 08:06:42 AM
f*&K me where do I start??? well I will point out the obvious first, their data is seriously so fucked up that dail up internet is faster then this bullshit!!! 2nd, their customer service all based in india and most of the time they dont know what they are talking about and dont give a shit about your problem because I am sure 100's and even 1000's per day call their fuckin call centre in Mumbai, India...
3rd, this recent issue with Vodafone in the news about some security breach, seriously WTF?
I am sure there is a shit load more issues, if I list all of them I am sure I will be typing all fuckin day! fuck I hate vodafone right now....
I am currently on hold at the moment YAY! I swear those fuckers owes me approx 40hrs of my time which I have spent on hold with those sons of bitches!!!
10 Jan 2011 08:48:13 AM: "2nd, their customer service all based in india and most of the time they dont know what they are talking about and dont give a shit about your problem because I am sure 100's and even 1000's per day call their fuckin call centre in Mumbai, India..."

Seriously? That doesn't even make much sense.
They're actually the ones that will help you out of this mess. When will people learn. If you speak to them with this tone, I hope they don't help you. They're working overtime, as are retail staff, to try and resolve as many problems as they can. Get a grip, and lose the racist attitude.
10 Jan 2011 09:04:38 AM: Please keep the comments about accents, English capabilities and offshore locations to a minimum. The point has been made. It's Monday and I want to have a good day. Vodafail.com mod
10 Jan 2011 01:19:47 PM: The accents, English capabilities and offshore locations points are actually valid - I have no problem with outsourcing but it's incredibly frustrating speaking with staff who have no flexibility in their responses and don't have the ability to deal with your unique issue. They have the right attitude, but not the skills to be of any use a lot of the time
11 Jan 2011 07:01:22 AM: Let the racism and criticism aside, the fact of the matter is that we are paying a high sum for services that a company can not provide, that is a fact, this is 2011, and we are we going to?, no where... is it that we do not have enough qualified people to run a network in Australia? surely we have, rather than sending business out of australia, in order to evade Taxes, and cut cost, but despite we are still paying for it and big,, 3x $99.99 caps a month,,, only for an individual.(Myself),, think about it!!!

11617 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very at 10 Jan 2011 06:51:03 AM
I got myself an iPhone mid 2010 - Vodafone shop in World Square forgot to transfer me to new contract so got slugged big time for data - over $300 for first bill which was only for 10 days - tried to fix over and over and over again - customer service were not only useless but extremely rude - kept refusing to help because I would not send my password through email - was concerned about security when now know there is no security anyway lol - each month they would tell me it would be fixed for the next month and was not - long story short after literally hours waiting on hold and being transferred to Mumbai etc ended up paying approx $100 more than should have due to running out of energy trying to fight. Am considering joining the class action but who has the time? This is what big companies rely on - most people cannot spare the hours needed to rectify the situation. Time is money and my time is worth something I believe - maybe I can claim by the hour for the amount of time I have spent trying to get somebody from Vodafone to take some responsibility. I had to explain to Vodafone that as where I purchased my phone were agents of the company they were acting on behalf of the company and the company was responsible for the error - how can customer service not know the basics of consumer law? Also what's the point of having phone with internet when connection drops out constantly!

11606 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is impossible to contact at 10 Jan 2011 06:10:21 AM
I have for four days tried to reach Customer Service with regard to a Billing enquiry. The auomatic system is the only one that can provide details of amounts due in a previous bill - how to clarify anything such as regular payments or to set up automatic payment, the wai was quoted by the on hold message as being up to 50 minutes on each of the four days I tried and on each occasion i the four days I tried to contact the company. I an PISSED OFF !
10 Jan 2011 06:19:09 AM: A bit more on this - I finally managed to contact them, and landed with the Phillipines call centre. When I asked for information on when my contract was due to expire, i was asked WHY I wanted that information ! They tried to sell me a new contract before telling me my contract expiry date - it all seems a bit dodgy to me. I also asked about how many people had accessed my account details (in relation to recent media reports of leaked account info0, and the consultant had trouble fluently reading the (obviously 100% complance verbatim) scripting provided by Vodafone. Not good even for the public perception of looking after the customers.

11586 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Utter at 9 Jan 2011 11:54:51 PM
Their call centre is absolutely hopeless - no way of getting through. Was on hold for 3 hours the other day (had phone on speaker whilst working) and in the end got a message saying sorry our lines have now closed for the day and you will need to call back tomorrow. I think I could call at 9am and be on hold till 6pm and get the closed message! Then if they do answer you will be in the wrong section (because Lara never has the right option) and you go to the back of the hold queue in the supposed right section. Am expecting a delivery of a replacement phone and was told it would arrive by courier on Friday. Waited around all day for it and guess what - yep it never arrived! So now i've decided we'll just see what Monday brings as given up trying to get in contact.
10 Jan 2011 01:54:54 AM: Vodafone customer care is open 24 hours!!
10 Jan 2011 07:29:25 AM: Open 24 hours, but customers should not have to spend hours on the phone for each and any enquiry! I have consistently been kept on the line for over an hour, every time I rang, while I get put through countless different sections, none of whom can answer my query. Twice, upon reaching the hour and a half mark, I have hung up with my issues still unresolved. And even then, with every person you get passed to, the information is inconsistent, or non-existant. Occassionally staff are rude, usually just plain useless. (My issue was with incorrect/misleading billing using vodafones own product!! So hundreds of dollars overcharged, followed by countless hours of time on the phone, with unhelpful staff, who won't acknowledge a problem with their own billing system information.) Significant financial pain and hours of anguish/anger/frustration - vodafone is nothing less than a traumatic experience.

11581 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is at 9 Jan 2011 10:40:11 PM
Vodafone cut off my phone and gave my number to someone else in September. Someone at a senior level went into my account, cut off my number (ie disabled my account) and gave my number to a customer they were signing up. It took DAYS on hold - one day I was on hold for SIX hours to get through to some operator in India who then handballed me to various departments, and no one could help me. I couldn't call from my Vodafone - they'd cut my service. So had to tie up (And pay for) my landline to contact them about the mess they'd created.
Eventually I went into the local Vodafone shop - three days in a row - to use their phone. They were very helpful and they USED THEIR OWN PHONES AND PHONE CREDIT to get my number back.

I got my number back. They Vodafone billed me $460 for service cancellation!

I got the disconnection/contract cancellation charge reversed and I was told, as compensation, that I would get the following month free. The bill came in for that 'free' month at $463.00! I'm on a $29 cap!
I called again - only two hours on hold this time. I was told that the person who had authorised the month's free credit had left the company and left no notes. I pointed out that had been billed incorrectly ($7 to retrieve voicemail? Hello?) and after a few more hours on hold came back with an offer of $463 phone credit - but not get my money refunded nor would they agree to release me from my contract (I was over it by this stage) .
I agreed to the credit - about 15months worth.
The next day they debited $29 from my account - my monthly charge.
Added to this was an overseas trip when my roaming failed. I was unable to receive calls, conduct business or receive necessary text messages to do banking/book flights etc.

Vodafone has since agreed to refund ALL the money they've incorrectly taken from me - $463 plus $29 =$492. They said they could do this in 10 working days, which, after negotiation, I got down to five. The money hasn't come through yet - stay tuned. I asked again to be released from my contract but they refused.
I have yet to discuss with Vodafone compensation for distress, loss of income (I run my own business and spent days away from it at a crucial time trying to get my phone number back - which by the way was on all my business materials). The people on the front line - the ONLY human beings I was able to talk to face to face were at the retail outlet and did what they could to help... - what about their distress? I wasn't the first customer to come in with a service complaint.
If I could get out of my contract I would, and I if there's a class action happening, I'm in: (PERSONAL DETAILS REMOVED - Vodafail.com Team).

Jinny, NT
9 Jan 2011 10:48:47 PM: Hi Jinny, you can register your interest to take part in the class action below with Piper Alderman. Currently 9000 are queued to take part in the class action law suit against Vodafone. And rightly so :)

11562 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is epic fail at 9 Jan 2011 08:58:10 PM
Vodafone used to be reputable and a great carrier.... in the past year or so I have encountered a lot of issues with network coverage. It takes ages to load internet on the 3G network and calls are constantly dropping out. They have all the time and money in the world to support a cricket team but cannot even service their clients.

I am disgusted and worried about the media speculation about the leaking of customers information and find it appuling that their functionality to send a complaint/email via their website has been removed. I have called 1555 and there is a automated message at the begining of the call stating that 'Vodafone values their customers and stores information safely'. i did not get a clear indication from this message if the information had been accessed by unsavoury characters in our community... I then waited on hold for 45 mins (i know it was stupid waiting that long). before i gave up. Communication FAIL from VODAFAIL. There is also a pathetic attempt of an explanation on their website which yet again is unclear .

11546 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is more failing than I originally thought at 9 Jan 2011 08:09:46 PM
In addition to my last post, having read some of other people's problems, just reminded me that I also have tried to send picture and text messages that don't reach people, I get put on hold until I can't stand it anymore and hang up, and my dropouts have been going on for as long as I can remember. I just thought it was common in many telcos! I also have had my voicemail divert straight to msg bank when I have my phone on all the time and live close to the city. I was unable to retrieve voicemail whilst overseas, but could sent text messages. NO, I am not trying to milk the system and weasle out of a contract, in fact my 12 month contract is nearly finished so won't return to VF.
9 Jan 2011 09:53:39 PM: yes I have had many texts n mms that have never arrived or reach destination even within the vodafone network.
