Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

3924 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Never fail to disappoint at 27 Dec 2010 04:54:08 PM
As per every Vodafone customer I have experienced the usual call drop outs, reception that resembles calling from a basement and the most unhelpful, painstaking customer service procedures known to man. Of recent I was put through 3 hours of customer service hell. If not for my love for Lara's automated voice I would of given up after 10mins. I had 3 problems,
1. Removing Credit Card Details from a old number and adding same details to existing number.
2. Obtaining pin to access mailbox of previous number.
3. Accessing MyVodafone due to some unbeknown reason the website instructed to contact Vodafone.
After several attempts of trying to speak to an actual operator with no success something happened and I spoke with a human. However this representative was in billing and as Prepaid customer we aren't as important and get the good old transfer trick followed by 30mins of ridiculous music. Retry and on this occasion the individual in billing actually assisted and removed the credit details from old number and solved the voicemail pin issue and solved my girlfriends MyVodafone issue. After ending call I attempted to add my credit details to existing number however I was not able to do this via the handset, the error message advised me to contact my bank as the card details were not correct. Frustrated at this I attempted to contact customer service, several attempts later I spoke with someone after been transferred from billing for been PrePaid. This gentleman advised that he couldn't help as this department was currently closed and was unable to add the card details manually. I was very angry as I had just previously removed the details with another rep. I requested to speak to the previous rep that had assisted me previously and was told that he was not available due to it been outside of his work hours. I then asked to speak with a supervisor and was put on hold, once taken off hold I was told I was getting transferred to someone who could assist but wasn't a supervisor, I wasn't given opportunity to respond. The next rep I was put through to welcomed me and then silence, no response, no call drop out just silence. I believe I was muted, this continued for 30mins before I ended the call. My next attempt after several in between the operator told me I was unable to add my card details which I just removed from previous number because I had no available funds, apparently you require $1 which is refunded to you at a later date to register card details. They don't advise this in the call however somewhere in some terms and conditions this is stated. I was furious as you could imagine. Vodafone constant lack of help and the rudeness of operators has got to stop. Anyone who has experienced the automated voice of Lara has an idea of what we all have to endure. Its like they will do anything to not actually allow you to speak to a human. Class action is more than necessary.

Have not been able to use our phones(we have 2 with Vodacrap) in our house,a major shopping center(in and outside) mind you we are 5 minutes from the CBD in Adelaide..Wait times for any customer service are crap...
Also the billing department is full of incompetent ballsacks that are rude, argumentative and are just plain wankers... We have had luck with the Kiosk Voda shop at ingle farm shopping center though, extremely helpful people :)

So were can I start - Purchas 2 blackberry phones live din Cairns guess what poor service - complained they did not listen- moved back home to brisbane north and same issue poor service / coverage. Called vodafail several times took them 4 months to investigate the issue finally they agreed we lived in a "black spot area" all coverage is a black spot for vodafail!!! So I ported one number to telstra and cancelled the other and they agreed to this but what happened next is they continued to send me a bill (after I waited on the vodafail phone line for 30 minutes then I was transferred to india and I was hung up on - spoke to a supervisor and i was promised this would be fixed drama after drame this has now been going on the 7 months and guess what I just received on the 10th of December another bill !!!!!!! they have no idea it is now the 27th of december and I am currently on hold as I am tyoing this (I have now been on hold foe 40 minutes) I wonder what this phone call will bring what a mess - Vodafail is a disgrace - their service is a joke their coverage is a disgrace - something needs to be done !!!

3882 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Expensively Pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 04:49:08 PM
The biggest gripe I have is with Lara, I went over to Vanuatu and forgot to get my phone set to international roaming, so I borrowed my friends phone to call Vodaphone customer service.
Straight away Lara " identified that I was calling from oversea`s and someone would be with me in just a moment ! For the next 40 minutes I was told they "are flat out at the moment but someone would be with me very soon" and other BS recorded messages ! . After giving up after 40 minutes I tried 3 more times over the next few days at different times of the day and night adding up to 1hr of waiting on hold from overseas! In the end I never got to speak to a human and never got my phone working whilst away. What my friend got was a extra couple of hundred dollars on her phone bill which I reimbursed her for and for that couple of hundred dollars I got the privilege of waiting on hold to Vodaphone`s so called Customer Service.
Vodaphone if your waiting times are so long because your so flat out dealing with customer service issues`s then at least employee more people too answer the phone and help sort out your shit

additionally, I am on a 2 year contract, it annoys me that some days I can have service at one end of my house I have an average size house)but intermittent service at the bedroom end of the house WTF.
Sometimes I have 5 bars on my phone other times I need to drive around the corner to make a phone call. Even in Sydney city sometimes there is NO Service.
Crap signal, Crapola Customer Service ! in these days of technology

3859 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is everyway at 27 Dec 2010 04:46:57 PM
i had put up with vodafone for 2years plus. singed into a 24 month contract.
I had absolute terrible reception mosttimes having to walk outside of any building to make a call. all other networks worked in side those buildings. further more it was ALWAYS hard to hold a conversation as the line would break up stutter and drop in and out. Customer service from vodafone is the worst i have ever come across, i have been on hold for hours at a time. I was still getting billed once i discontinued service from them.
I changed providers and it has changed my mobile world, I don't know why i didn't do it sooner....

Trying to Get my Blackberry Storm fixed/replaced. Vodafone tells me nothing is wrong with the phone. but clearly there is. i call the company only to be place on hold for hours on end, when i do get through the operators hang up or give me false information. in melbourne its sometimes hard to get reception. we sign up for contracts but its a 2 way street. Vodafone are in a binding contract with us to provide a service. when i try to cancel my plan i am told i have to pay in excess of $1000 to break the contract. Optus is a far better Telco. at least they treat you like a person.

3827 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Seriously crap service at 27 Dec 2010 04:44:15 PM
When making a simple local call, my I-Phone Vodaphone provider will drop out at least three times, and its costing me a fortune to call back over and over again. Also, I constantly have a "No Service" or "Searching" message on my screen. This can last for up to three hours, and happens at least once or twice a week. My text messages will not go through on occasions, and I also do not get my voicemail messages, sometimes up to 24hours later!! I am extremely unhappy with Vodaphone, am tired of calling their "help line" (their help is just part of their crap service) and then being put on hold for a minimum of 20minutes, while the call usually drops out anyway. I am going to be taking my complaints to the ombudsman, and will seriously try to get out of my current contract!!

I have absolutely no reception at work, my phone cuts out and when I called to upgrade they told me I need to pay $600 cancellation fee but the week before I got a letter saying I can upgrade to any Nokia phone or if I wait till March 2011 I can upgrade to an iphone4. When I called customer service loyalty team at 8am on the dot (because thats the time they open), I was still kept on hold for 45mins. I hung up and called back later to be told they are experiencing a high number of calls and they will call me back with the promise I wont lose my place in the queue and then 5 hours later I get a call from someone who couldnt even help me. GO FIGURE!! I guess they have sent 99% of their call centres overseas with little or no training. PATHETIC!!

I was with 3 mobile and my contract ended the person in the shop convinced me to sign up with vodaphone. he said that vodaphone would have better signal in the postcode than 3 although i used to get network coverage with 3 mobile and now with vodaphone i have absolutly no network coverage. the most important thing i said to the guy many times was having good signal strength at the places i go. he looked it up and said i would have signal. got home and i have no signal. have been back to the shop many times to try and resolve the issue and i have had no luck, the shop is telling me to ring customer service and i have done that after being on hold for ages they did nothing several times. so my new 2 yr contract is absolutly usesless due to having no network coverage about 90 percent of the time. i have a business to run an the phone is really makingit hard.

Tried contacting Vodafone to sort out some issues with activating new iphone and mobile broadband. Went through the painful message system "LARA" to be placed on hold. After countless messages saying my call will be dealt with shortly I spent over 2.5hrs on hold before hanging up the phone. My phone was then call barred due to the payment system going down. I had paid my bill but was still call barred for there mistake. This is totally unacceptable.

Often, when I make phone calls, I get an ear-splitting screech through my phone, that can only be the network.
If I actually get a call out, there's a good chance they aren't able to hear me.
On the off chance I get a good call, it drops out minutes in.

Plus whenever I call their "Customer Care" line, there's a wait time of >40 minutes.
I've been on hold with the "Customer Care" line for 1:30:00 once, halfway in my phones battery almost died, I plugged it into the charger, then at the 1:20:00 mark, the phone said it's battery was about to overheat!

Over Vodafone full stop! I call up to complain about the service and was on hold for over 33mins to be told 'there were no problems reported' - Yes there is, so she transfers me to the team that looks after the technical side.. on hold for another 10 mins so I hang up.. I emailed Vodafone directly to lodge a complaint, I recieved a reply stating there were routine upgrades but not a major problem and changed the status of my complain to 'solved' - I replied stating it was not solved and I requested a consultant to call me as I cant be sitting on hold for another 30 mins + I recieved a further reply stating that If I wanted to have it resolved I have to call my self. I find this disgusting that a telco would do this. I have constant drop outs, msg fails and no service on my ph. I want to change to Optus now!!

Not impressed what so ever!!

Firstly let me just say that I cannot stand the annoying robot voice 'lara'. It is even more irritating when waiting on hold for over an hour and a half, it continues to tell me that they're 'flat out' but rest assured my call is important to them! Pretty sure they'd answer the phone if my call was important. We have had nothing but trouble with vodaphone since we unfortunately signed up for a 2 year contract. The bills are through the roof, for no apparent reason. One was even in the thousands of dollars. We are now on the $99 cap, which in vodaphone terms means about $200!

Me and my partner are with 3 (vodafone) and our coverage is the worst i have ever experienced. We will stand in one spot and the coverage will drop in and out constantly, we were told we would get coverage at our house but it is very poor. We have tried calling customer service and explaining our situation but they put us on hold and inevitably the phone drops out because of the poor coverage. We cant make phone calls and have a conversation with anyone because the phone drops out and we find that really fustrating when you are running a business. We will be changing provider when our contract ends.

After two years of paying $115.00 per month for what was originally a $79 Cap, i dropped my Iphone. Ofcourse, the screen cracked. After being told to take out handset insurance when i had signed up incase that very thing happened, i was told by a Vodafone rep after a 40 minute wait on hold, that no, handset insurance does not cover a cracked screen. Then to be further told that it would cost $150.00, and my phone would be sent away "for a week or two". The level of "customer service" (term used lightly), is so poor. McDonalds probably has better service. Jeez, thanks Vodafone, my loyalty over the past 15 years has obviously been appreciated by the company! Anyway, plan is up in 2 months, so i shall be changing networks!

I pay Vodafone $130 a month but I'm not sure what I am paying for as their service regularly drops out and prevents me from making calls. I have been experiencing trouble in Sydney for months. At one point, I was unable to make any calls at all for a full week. Thanks for nothing Vodafone. I hope the class action is successful. I would love to cancel my contract but that would mean giving them more of my money.
Another problem I would like to highlight is their crappy customer service. You are forced to wait on hold for at least 20 minutes and the staff usually are unable to solve the problem. I then tried an email form and that took one week for a reply which was generic anyway. On MyVodafone I cannot access my past bills and noone seems to be able to help me, but magically their payment system never fails! Vodafone you suck.

I was unsatisfied with Vodafones mobile reception and when my contract finished promptly switched to Optus. Now my internet plan has finished I can not seem to talk to someone to close my account.
I was on hold for 13 minutes before a customer service operator from some off-shore call centre answered my call, when they found out the reason for my call I was transfered to the 'cancellation department' 1 hour and 30 minutes later I was still on hold, giving up I tried the number again and spoke with a customer service operator. They informed me someone from the cancellation department will call me in 24 - 36 hours that was 6 days ago.
This sort of service is shocking, not to mention my internet reception problem, I am paying for a fast connection but am getting a slower than dial-up speed connection.
I have spoken to someone about this and they blame it on the merge between 3 and Vodafone, that was in January, it has only gotten worse!
I would happily join a class action and voice my concerns and request compensation for not acually getting the service I sugned up for. Shame on Vodafone!

3385 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Doesn't work and don't want to fix it at 27 Dec 2010 04:08:00 PM
Vodafone's SMTP server is broken for over 4 months and no plans to fix it, and they tell me all I can do is to keep calling them each day (and wait on hold for 1-2 hour before they pick up) and continue to be told "we still don't know". Store staff refuse to help with tech support as the wait is too long for vodafone's technical assistance and they have other things to do. Billing is incorrect each month and I'm charged excess use fees even though I'm still under my cap, after 3 people acknowledge the problem and fail to fix it, the fourth says the problem doesn't exist and I imagined my conversations with the previous 3 support agents as they have no record of it.

After I involved the TIO they released me from my contract and waived remaining bills if I leave the same day, admitting they cannot provide the service they advertised due to network issues. I'm now with Telstra who give me consistently strong signal, fast performance and I can even send emails again.

3375 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Ultrafail at 27 Dec 2010 04:07:09 PM
Back in August I rang up Vodafone to pay my bill with Visa. Voda took a double payment of $127, and refused to take the hold off the second payment. When I went into the store, they first said they couldn't do anything, and then said if I wanted to contact Voda directly, to expect an hour on hold at least. Two weeks later the BANK released the hold on my account.

To avoid this again, I decided to pay at the post office. I went into the store again to complain that my service had been disconnected. Apparently it takes two weeks for Australia Post payments to clear, and I shouldn't bother calling again.

If I call Vodafone directly from the SIM, I'm still told I need to have the phone number. Of course I don't know the phone number, it's a mobile broadband account. Sometimes I don't always have access to my bills (such as if I'm at work), and then I'm told they can't do anything.

My service sometimes drops out in the city, and I can't get 3G coverage in Mount Gambier or Warrnambool. I can get GPRS but it consistantly drops out.

3364 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Massive at 27 Dec 2010 04:05:33 PM
After reception constantly dropping out I made various complaints. I could then not get any reception whatsoever and also could not get any data access as I had 'reached my prepaid limit'. I am not on prepaid.

After I contacted them (only 40 mins on hold), I was advised I would have to call them back later. Was put through to Customer Care (after I asked to be put through to Cancellations) I ended up cancelling my contract and going with Telstra. I was on hold with Vodafone for 1.5 hours with no assistance whatsoever, I was actually told they did not know what to do.

I was with Vodafone for 6 years, my 6 weeks with Telstra has been amazing.
27 Dec 2010 04:43:23 PM: You are very lucky. My experience with Telstra continues to be one characterised by their traditional arrogance as market leader. Recently having had a complaint you cannot even use their service to call when prepay limits expire. There is no number to use .They advise to use the net or use another phone company to call them. How ridiculous. What other company refuses to provide access to their own customer complaints department when you have a problem with service. TELSTRA Bah humbug try lebara little know ,,cheap and wonderful service, great customer entitlements with your account. 3 cents per minute to India for example. My advice
leave the big companies telstra, Voda and Optus. seek out the little compnaies who use the big boy networks in any event.

3341 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Need to be closed down!! at 27 Dec 2010 03:59:50 PM
After getting into a business plan 2 years ago and having my phone in for service for 10 weeks during the first few months, I was annoyed o say the least but the lack of reception, constant drop outs, impossibly long wait times to complain to a 'service centre' (what a joke) on the phone, and the total lies that these imbeciles tell when you finally do get someone on the other end stuns me!!! I even tried complaining via email and of course that got me nowhere either. I am soooo pleased that I have found out that I'm not the only one that has this problem....I wish I had known about you months ago, It might of saved my sanity!!! Please close this company down to help the mental state of this country!!! A very upset, frustrated, soon to be ex customer...By the way, don't bother with the 'Vodafone MySay' emails if you receive them, needless to say I tried it and it is also hopeless!!!!!!!!!!!! :(

I have been had long term customer, I have 2 mobiles (one for friends, the other business). I have drop outs daily, no service (4-5 times daily), calls disconnect with in seconds of answering. No messages or delayed by days. It is disastrous as I have an eBay business! If I could swap providers but locked in a contract....
Try calling.... 45 mins on hold or try using the call back feature- they take over an hour, if not longer. Once you get through, you go through the same thing every time. No solution as they know they can't fix it! If everyone has this problem, it is about time they think about it being the problem being them! Very disappointed, frustrated and annoyed customer!

3299 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is epic fail at 27 Dec 2010 03:52:27 PM
Using an iPhone over the vodafone network,
I estimate around 30% of my emails were not delivered.

After 6 weeks of telephone calls and venting to the Mumbi call centre
I finally got a tech to admit they had a problem with the network, and that messages from the vodafone server to www were being bounced by other service providers because of spam issues.

On one of my phone calls, I was on hold for over 3 hours
to "customer care" in Hobart. I had a meeting to attend
so had to cancel the call without ever being answered.

I left messages on the "complaint" section of vodafone website,
where a response within 48 hours is offered. I am still waiting.

The iPhone is now replaced with a Blackberry, and email issues are resolved.
I noticed yesterday the service had dropped back to Edge.

3288 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Unable to Register for Online viewing of my bills at 27 Dec 2010 03:50:45 PM
I try to register online for 2 days, by entering my Mobile number, and it will sms me a password, try this 5 times, it does not work, I try this over 2 days, finally, I call Vodafone and the customer services person told me to let him try, he did that and it does not work, he put me on hold for another 5 mins, return after speaking to someone, told me to wait 24 hours and try again, which I did and it worked this time. It is waste of time, if it does not work, the system should be taken down, so that customer don't kept trying, I would say it wasted me 2 hours in total.
29 Dec 2010 11:12:36 AM: Over weeks, I have had 20 hours easy lost forever by this issue. Even 'helpless center' staff can't make it work. A joke. A real bad one.

I have upgraded from an Iphone to a Sumsung Galaxy, I agreed to continue paying off the Iphone MONTHLY as well as the Galaxy, I am fine with this it's what I agreed to. I recieved my bill and it showed I owed on the 14th of December for $1,200 since then I have been contacting Vodafone to get the matter sorted but I either have to wait 40 minutes until someone answers or over an hour before they call back. when I spoke to Vodafone about their mistake they claimed I agreed to pay out the Iphone for $1000 this is not true, I advised them to check their phone recordings which they claim they don't always record their calls. I advised them to call during my lunch break,,,they failed they called me while I was working...I advised them to call me back the next day as I was on holidays telling me they sorted the problem,. They still haven't. When they did call me back, they transfered me through to another department so I could speak to someone else, but I was on hold for 6 minutes. I still have not had the problem sorted out and it is the 27th of December...

Went in store to update my contract, and get a new iphone 4. Got told in store they only have iphones instore for new customers, so if i want one i have to ring customer support. Rang customer support, and got told i have to wait 3 weeks for it to arrive, as they were out of stock. still got charged for my plan for 3 weeks, and when it arrived, phone kept heating up and burning my face. Rang customer support AGAIN, explained the problem, and had to wait ANOTHER 3 weeks for a new iphone 4. finally got that iphone, but instead of sending 1, they sent 2 iphones, rand customer support straight away, and was told that they would send an envelope, to send the 2nd iphone back. Then waited 2 weeks, no envelope, so irang again, explained the situation (again) and they said the same thing. waited another 2 weeks. still nothing. rang again, repated the process, and was supposed to get an envelope. needless to say its 3 months later, and i still have an iphone 4 in box sitting in my house. Tried to do the honest thing. each phone call, had me on hold for over an hour each time.Customer service were rude and no help at all. AND even worse, im stuck on the plan for another 2 years. changing to optus asap.
27 Dec 2010 03:51:08 PM: and just to make it worse... iphone constantly has no reception 90 percent of the time, so its useless to me anyway. tried going instore, they tell me to ring customer service, tried ringing, i get put on hold, tried emailing, they tell me to ring. fuck vodafone!

3277 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is VERY at 27 Dec 2010 03:49:36 PM
I purchased USB Modem on a 1 year contract from the Wollongong store. I was advised that I should experience a minimum speed of 500 kpbs. At the best of times, I would only get 50 - 150 kpbs (only 5% of the time I used the modem. I was advised by the store to call the service number which I did (Please note; no-one at the Vodafone stores will offer to assist with any problems regarding service - they are all sales people). I called the service centres (with a minimum wait of 20 minutes). On some occasions, I would end up in the wrong department after carefully choosing my options on the key pad. I would be advised to speak to the "data-people" who can analyse my coverage to determine whether I was receiving coverage (I understand formalities are needed). It took a while to convince the operator that the coverage map being viewed was the same one I viewed prior to purchasing the modem, and that it does not reflect reality. I called several more times to speak to these specialist to check out my problem in-depth with no luck after being on hold for close to half-hour; this is after being transferred. Eventually, I was advised to call another "date-service number" to speak with person that could correct the issue. I was advised to call within a hour timeframe (8-9am) which I found difficult due to the fact I travel to Sydney for work and I am in transit (NO chance of Vodafone USB reception in motion). I rang this number on return from work. After being transferred for half-an-hour from department to department. The last person I spoke spent a considerable amount of time repeating my calling history (which I obviously new) then in the last minutes transferred me to a department. I received a voice message advising that this department was now closed. I called the complaints department the next day. Not only did I reached the wrong department again, but also a girl with an attitude problem. I vented my anger (not at any individual) I was advised, and I quote, "After all that has been reported by you, I can see that you NOW had enough". I was advised to return the product which I did and no cancellation costs would apply in my case. I still keep receiving bills and this has forced me to go to my bank and bar Vodafone from accessing my funds. In summary: MISGUIDED INFORMATION ON COVERAGE, OVERLY-DETERMINED SALES PEOPLE, POOR COVERAGE, UNORGANISED CALL CENTRES, RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL CALL-CENTRE STAFF, TIME WASTERS. Thank you.

phone internet not workingmobile
broadband slow or not working at all
uncountable amounts of unhelpful service from the helpline
numerous hours of being kept on hold
letters of complaints not answered
emails unanswered
the list goes on and on...
I got my phone stolen last week and I'm overseas indefinitely and now stuck 12 months into a 24 month contract which is useless and will cost $550 to get out of.
I spoke to a manager on the helpline and even he told me to go with another company as he admitted no one could help me with the recepetion issues and I lived in Surry Hills for god's sake - The centre of the biggest city in this country!

I live in sydney in the eastern suburbs, i have no reception on regular basis,my sms and mms messages arrive hours/days late. I ring vodafone, you are on hold for hours, then youre told to take your simcard out, and switch the phone on/off. Then of course there is still no reception, and you get told there is something wrong with your phone!!!The staff are really rude about it too. I have gone into my local vodafone and was given two replacement simcards, and then told there was something wrong with my phone!!!Like are you for real????I have been with vodafone for the last 10 years,i renewed my contract in January, however intend to cancel now, and return my phone. Whats the point of paying monthly fees when you have no coverage, and are getting messages late? Vodafone is not even offering any credit or timeframe when this should be fixed?Fed up and want out!!!
27 Dec 2010 04:05:02 PM: just wait til they give you the *wrong* SIM, and fry your account for a couple of weeks while they puzzle it out...

i got a nokia x6 on a plan through vodafone, not only was the phone crap but so was the network, most people couldnt ring me due to a message that said the phone you are calling has phone barring active, even though i had paid my bill in full this is what it said, after 6hrs trying to get through to someone, they were quite rude, they finally gave me a code to unlock it, but it only let 1 call through then locked again, then when i moved, i didnt bother changing my address cause when i ttried i was on hold this time for 4 hrs before my fone went flat so i gave up.. ever since i got the fone calls would constantly jrop out so i would have to ring the person like 10 time just to get out 5 words as a result my bill went through the roof, so i decided i wanted out of vodafone and the easiest thing to do rather than stay on hold all day was to just wait till they dissconnected me as a result my excellent credit rating down the drain.

Dropped out calls all the time, no reception in the middle of syd cbd and inner west, really everywhere! Then you get unacceptable customer service....surely vodaphone can come up with something better than what is to follow: I have been constantly told that they are upgrading and they are doing their best to resolve the situation (last 3 months)after many phone calls, many i'll be with you in just a moment, many on hold calls etc i have been through the trouble shooting process and now have been advised i have to replace my sim, it could be my handset, i have been on hold with managers for an unacceptable amount of time, what else do i need to do. Are you serious vodaphone? There is nothing wrong with my handset as my mate has exactly the same phone and is with Telstra having no problems. It is not my sim, but hey I have to go in to swap it at a store just to see. I am sick and tired of these problems. FED UP VODAFONE..GET REAL!

well where do i start Firstly i am totally with you on the contacting them its impossible with wait times always at at least 30 mins its a whole day event for me if i try to get hold of them its liuke im waiting for the most important call of my life i have to wait by the phone for my call back the other day it took 4 hours !!!!.

It all started when they said i had coverage where i lived. I was constantly dropping out and was told on several occasions that 3 bars or less was unacceptable. Yet i am always on one or two. After many phonecalls im taking in the hundreds to thousands up till now i have got no where with them. They have recently sent me a wifi router yet this makes no difference. Thay are never willing to fix the problem. They then consolidated all my bills without my knowledge then i had a different biller code only problem it took 3 months of callking to figure out where my money was.

they have sent me into fits of anger i have almost broken my hand i got so angry i have been in tears, my partner knows when i have been talking to them because for the rest of the day im just in a bad mood as i feel i never have my priblem fixed.

About 8 months ago my bills started climbing now knowing that for over a year i had only ever gone over by a few dollers im now meaning 300 over i started making calls to get answers after being told i would recieve a call back over 100 times in the poast 8 months i have no faith in vodafone but i am unfortunatly locked into a contract that i canr get out of even though eveything they had stated to me is untrue. i have had so many different things told to me that when i speak to vodafone i already know most of what they will say. Im at wits end anything i can do to help i will.

And a word of WARNING check your bills i have had my modified on contant occasions infact i even added one up there was a 20dollor difference i also had that same bill go from 256 to 503 to 506 in two months so beware.

Vodafone are not worth it even some of there store persons will tell you they are crap but only after they sucker you in and tell you eveything is all good

called customer service regarding poor servicer coverage.
after about 8 hours on hold over a couple of weeks they managed to transfer me from customer service then to the "value added" team then the upgrades dept then back to customer service because they didn't know what my call was about. to which the call centre supervisor said "i am going out of my way by helping you" then back to the upgrades dept and after complaining in writing to which i still have had no satisfactory result and Vodafone just stopped replying to my e-mails.to the customer retention team to which they said they would give me three months free off my contract, recieved a bill like nothing had happened.
here is a transcript of my email complaint to which has not been resolved.

13th november called customer care regarding my newly issued iPhone 4, after speaking with three members of customer care and the loyalty team i finally got put through to Shrapna who was argumentative for most of the 50 minute phone call.
she refused the fact that it was a new phone and stated that i would have to bare the cost of any repairs for a 7 day old phone.
i would appreciate a call regarding a solution to this matter.

Vodafone has no reception in my area. That's fine. Neither do most service providers. Problem with Vodafone is they claim they have reception in order to make a sale. Then, when there's no reception, they claim there is. Hour after hour on hold, speaking to Indian call centres, being passed from incompetent department to incompetent department. In the end, the TIO forced them to refund all my money plus extra. Even sending me the cheque took them a month because they kept sending it to the wrong address.

I have been a vodafone customer for 10 years atleast. I have never had a problem, had total faith in the tel-co i even changed my companys mobiles to vodafone i was so happy with them all untill 12 months ago. Trying to run a business with all the drop outs and no service is so annoying and doing some damage to my business and dealings. i can understand if maybe there is a problem for a week MAX, but its been going on too long i even feel they are not putting in the effort to fix the problem so i ask the question, should i put the effort to pay the bill untill the problem is fixed? But everyone knows doing that is not realistic. I have called vodafone about the problem and they say the same thing "upgrading". Well thats not good enough........ GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER VODAFONE OR YOU WILL LOOSE OUT LATER ON.

I had no internet or mobile phone access in my home since 24 December, when I contacted Vodafone and spent 1 hour on hold I was told it could take up to 6 days to resolve the issue and if they discovered there was no coverage in my area I could terminate my contract. I don't know why they call it Customer Care because it seems they don't care. I'm tired of the constant drop out's on the mobile Broadband which is slower than a snail...

I have been a vodafail customer for over 10 years and never had a problem until 2 years ago when I moved house to the Rouse Hill area. It was IMPOSSIBLE to have a phone conversation on my mobile without it dropping out...I would try to call my husband or vice vera and it would go to his voicemail at least 8 times out of 10.

When I found out the ACCC was involved, I rang Vodafail. I was on hold, on 3 separate occations, for over an hour. I finally got through, and was told they had to conduct 'tests' on my number. When the tests were done, I received a voicemail saying I needed to call them back. Of course I rang back and it took me another 2 phone calls to finally get through, but once I did, I was told I did in fact live in a low signal area and was allowed to leave my contract without paying exit fees.

I now am with Telstra, and I cannot express how much better it is!!!!! I can call my husband and it gets through every time, and I can actually receive phone calls in the comfort of my living room without having to run upstairs. It was a pain to ring them and be on hold for hours - it would help if their call centre was local - but it was definitely worth it!

Thank you for this website and making all our issues known!

I have only just switched to vodafone. Admittedly, it is slightly the cheapest of the major telco companies, but by a large margin, the worse. I have only had my phone for 2 months and get no reception at all in my house. As soon as i get home, i have to switch to GSM to get any reception at all.

I consider myself a fairly patient person, but having to call Vodafone Customer Care 8 times to get a matter resolved is preposterous. Each time, i was on hold for no less than 40 minutes. For such a large company, I expected much more. After only 2 months, I am seeking alternative ways to cancel my contract or enter a new plan.

3085 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Embarrassingly so at 27 Dec 2010 03:25:53 PM
I signed up to Vodafone because it used to be the least expensive and most widely used mobile service provider. Now, I experience dropped calls multiple times daily and strange intermittent network interruptions in areas wherein previously I had full coverage (full bars on my phone). I can stand still in one spot and watch the number of bars of reception rise and fall dramatically on my phone in areas where I'd never had a problem before. And such problems began for me right about the time that Vodafone merged with 3 Mobile. And what's most infuriating is that Vodafone's customer service is impossible to reach! The number of voice prompts one must go through on the automated system just to reach a real human is excessive, and even worse is the fact that wait times to speak with said human customer service agents have been up to 1.5 hours! I went to the Vodafone shop where I bought my phone and even the staff there told me "Mate, I once waited on hold for two hours when I had to call on the behalf of a customer." Now that's just embarrassing! Australia is a Developed Country so how can this be the case with one of its major mobile service providers?!

I signed up to vodafone over the phone, they called my 3 mobile offering me a better deal than what i was getting on 3. i was paying 73 dollars a month with 3. they offered me my first 3 months for free as i had to end my contract early with 3. so i signed up thinking i was getting my first 3 months for free and the dude from the call centre also said i was getting free calls to 1300 and 1800 numbers and all that. i received a text message from vodafone saying i owed them nearly $130 bucks when i was on a $79 unlimited cap. yeh right. i rang up to complain, being on hold for nearly an hour!! so i went with another phone company which i have had no trouble with.
I also get reception which i didnt get while being with vodafone. also i received a dodgy handset which nackered itself after not even a month of me using it and the battery wouldnt last 2 days so i was constantly charging it.

I have been with Vodafone with a new Iphone 4 for 2 months and it has been the worst mobile phone service I have ever received. So, out of 20 years of having a mobile service, Vodafone has managed to screw it up in 2 months. I am so disgusted, frustrated and annoyed. Not to mention the money this has cost me from lost earnings in my business. Ive had enough of their FuXXXX BullshXX. The are liars, cheats and scamers as far as I am concerned. They dont return my calls. On one occasion I was on hold 1hr 40mins and then got put through to a useless, non-english speaking person that couldnt do a thing! There is alot more but Im getting to angry writing this.

3013 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is no reception at 27 Dec 2010 03:15:35 PM
For over twelve months I have had no reception in my work place and at my residential address. To send a message or make or take a phone call I have to go out to the driveway or the street to get reception. My husband also suffers the same! While out I loose reception consy=tantly and my phone turns itself off! I have tried calling the customer call centre but am constantly left on hold( when I get reception) and the Vodafdone stores offer no help at all, they say they have the same trouble. My daughter has lost work because of no reception and has since gone to another carrier while still having to pay for a contract that she cannot use. We would not recommend Vodafom=ne to anyone and think they shou;d stop sponsoring racing cars and cricket and put their cash into upgrading their system and customer service.

2997 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is extremely at 27 Dec 2010 03:13:56 PM
I have been a customer of vodaphone for many years and over the years i have tollerated an insane amount of (insert profanity here). I have spoken to their 'customer service' (and i use the term extremely loosely) almost once a month and have spent, in total, approximately 30 hours on hold. (What a sucker i am). The service that i have received has been appalling on every level. From miscalculations on the bill, extra charges that were not explained to me, being rushed into signing a contract, trying to get through and instead getting extra charges because i couldn't get through in time, not to mention the phone bills created with other carriers because i needed to make a call and there was no reception (shocker). I have been in situations where i urgently needed to phone someone and couldn't, other situations where i was waiting on important phone calls that never came, because my phone was unable to receive calls, because once again there is no reception. The areas that i have not got reception are not remote places, far from it. I can be in the middle of the CBD and have no reception, or in a place standing next to other people who are with other providers and still have no reception, while they have full reception. I have not only had problems with the 'customer service' and phone coverage, but the actual employees of vodaphone and the hardware. The current handset i have is the second one i have had this year and it has given me nothing but problems. The people working for vodaphone are worse than second rate, i have been in the vodaphone stores to try and sort out many many various problems and the people tell me to call the vodaphone customer service number. After i explain to them that i have a life and would not like to spend it on hold listening to static that changes volume every 3 seconds they simply tell me they can't help. How bad must a company be to have an entire website dedicated to complaints. It sure does feel good to share this though. Also, if L.A.R.A was a real person i would like to slap her face.

I feel like I need a university degree in codes to read my phone bill and cannot understand how I can possibly go over my cap amount when I use my phone less then the month before when I was under it! I have a Blackberry Bold 9700 provided by Vodafone and can NEVER get on to the internet...it says 'requesting' and then says I 'don't have enough data coverage'! No sh*t sherlock! Defeats the purpose of having a blackberry too! After 6 months of enduring this, I called up Vodafone, was on hold for 44 minutes so I hung up. Consumers can't even get THROUGH to make a complaint! Ridiculous!

2947 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is HORRIBLE! at 27 Dec 2010 03:03:27 PM
I joined with Vodafone on the 11/11/10. That was the first day i had it, and the first day i had to complain. 5 hours i spent on hold that day to get my phone service hooked up (Vodafone transferring me around in cirles, from one operater to another sales operater, to complaints handeling process, i told the girl on the other line i would like to lodge a complaint, she replied "Would you like me to find out how to do that?"). After 3 days of trying myself since Vodafone did not know why i wasn't getting any signal, my phone finally worked and i got network service. It cost me $83 to call Vodafone to get my phone service hooked up, having to wait 5 hours, buying a new sim, the new sim failing, altogether this particular incident has probably cost me $150. Not to mention my bill this month which i cannot access because no matter how many times i try to register for online services to view my bill i cannot!!! And, yet again, shock horror, cannot get through to customer care. My bill this month will be small though, not being able to make outgoing phone calls, every time i try it beeps and then does not call at all, my phone drops out if a message comes through while i am in a call, it drops out if another call comes through while i am in a call, and it just plain drops out for no reason at all, is a pretty good money saver. Vodafone is by far the worst choice that i have made in a VERY long time and i want out some compensation for the 2 months (so far) of trouble it has bought me.
I have had to go out and buy a pre-paid phone (another $149 to add to the cost already spent on my bad choice of phone provider, Vodafone) to support my business when this service doesn't provide.... well anything!
Now, i will wait the estimated 10 days it will take them to reply to yet another complaint (because of the 'holidays') and hope that they come to some sort of resolution to make up the absolutely appauling service!!!!

2938 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the worst customer service and the definition of 'fail' in the dictionary be changed to vodafone at 27 Dec 2010 03:00:51 PM
my phone has been sending the same sms twice to people, so i tried to get the problem fixed in store, they were helpful enough and gave me a new sim to try an see if that would help but told me if it didnt i had to call them up. The new sim didnt help so I spent 25 minutes on hold to then be hung up on. I didnt have enough time to call back straight away so I tried the next day and the recording said it was over a 40 minute wait, I tried several times that day and each time was told it was over 40 minutes, same happened for the next 3 days. When I finally got through, I could barely understand the person and they told me there wasnt much they could do and suggested I delete all my sms's to see if that would help and then the final step was a master reset. They gave me a $30 credit and she told me that was all she could give me, even though I had gone through my bills and found my phone had been doing it for over 3 months and each bill had well over 60 sms sent that were doubled up.
My coverage is also crap and tells me I have no service all the time even though I am in places that I have had full reception before

2918 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Frustrating at 27 Dec 2010 02:56:25 PM
I have been a vodafone customer for more than 10 years originally prepaid switched to a post paid plan and that was fine too took a wireless broadband contract as unable to get other internet services at my new address all worked fine for the first couple of months then slowly over the last few months the reception and signal problems have started both of these devices run on the same network however at times I can have 3g coverage on my internet and my phone has dropped to SOS other times my phone will have full 3g coverage and I can't connect the internet. That's fine I understand that it's wireless service and at times the reception will be unstable but it is getting worse and happening more frequently. My biggest problem is with the customer service had a problem with my most recent bill and spent 4 1/2 hours on hold before someone answered my call, on the positive side the person I spoke with was polite and has hopefully fixed the billing issue but I won't know until I get my next bill!

I have been on vodafone contract for clost to 8 Years. Every 2 years for some reason i give them another chance and resign. my last signing was the last straw, I WILL NOT be returning once my contract is up. i have made years of constant ongoing complaints over the usual call drop outs, slow data transfer and poor reception. i have had little in the way of help from vodafone other than the usual hours of waiting on hold. The last straw was my last re-sign up, i w3as contacted by Vodafone Loyalty Team, they offered me a free phone, any one i chose if i re-signed. i told them i wanted an Iphone4, they said i could get one but they would nt be released until november-december. so i took the sony X10i, 3 yes 3 days later vodafone released the Iphone4! Firstly i have poot up with years of poor service and now i have been blatently LIED to!! Very Dissapointed!!!!!

Bad reception was just the beginning with Vodaphone, they also tried to tell me I was on a 24 month contract when I only signed up for 12 months... I took me about two weeks of running around on my lunch breaks sitting in their store waiting on hold endlessly before they finally conceded that they were wrong. When my phone broke it took months to repair during which time I was not provided with any handset but still had to keep paying my cap. Then when it finally came back nothing had actually been fixed... in the end I just gave up on them, they're worse than Telstra!

Contract ended with Vodaphone in May 2010, so resigned with iphone 3...Nothing but problems in the first two weeks - non-stop drop outs and No Network coverage across all different areas in south western Sydney. Called Support/Help four times....Numerous hours on hold with advice that didn't solve the problem. Went back to Vodaphone shop ready to throw phone at them after the amount of complaints I had recieved by Family, friends and business calls that I missed or cut out on. One night I was talking to my sister and the call dropped out SEVEN!!! times. The shop sent my phone away claiming my Iphone was faulty. Four weeks later I get a new Iphone and wait for it - EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEMS!!!! I call head office again and they palm me off to the shop - so Back again I go to the shop who now advise me I have to wait for approval from Head Office to get a different phone. I have to wait another two weeks and I have to call the shop 5 different times to get answers. I get told the person in the section at head office has been away and Thats why I have had to wait - so everyone in NSW had to wait for one person to come back from holidays??? After being rude to a worker I finally get a call from the store manager the next day offering my three phones to choose from - I dont get to choose my own replacemnt phone after the abd service and reunning around I have had to put up with - NO!!!!! And of course to now cancel my contract with incur me with the exit fee!!! What a Joke ;( Instead We will offer you two older style phones to choose from and one phone that no-one has ever heard of but I'm told it's great. yeah well I was told the Iphone was great too!!!.
I choose the unknown HTC Legion after doing some reserach on the three phones on offer and it is 95% better than the Iphone but still not perfect. I still suffer lack of network service and drop outs but It is an improvement to the Iphone drama. Not once did they reinburse me for the couple of months my service was disrupted, for my constant phonecalls and hours lost on the phone to support/Help desk or for the numerous trips to the Vodaphone shop. Am exremly disappointed in their "Customer Sevice" and the fact I was made to feel like I was the problem not their service or the phone!

I changed over from Optus to Vodaphone about a week ago. In just a week, I have experienced so many problems. Very poor reception on the train and slow data connection. In fact, the internet connection is so bad, it cuts in and out all the time. I am seriously thinking of switching back to Optus or to another network.

I tried calling the customer service line and was literally placed on hold for 2 hours before a man with a heavy Indian accent finally tried to come to my assistance, but I had no idea what he was going on about!

2790 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Significant at 27 Dec 2010 02:24:32 PM
I was formerly on the 3 Network for years before it merged with Vodafone, and although I know they have merged recently, I never had any problems until switching to Vodafone a few months back. Reception is poor and on various occasions I have been unable to ring out from my phone even when it reportedly has reception.

I think what irritates me the most is actually trying to get through to someone on Vodafone in order to fix or enquire about certain problems. Long wait times and voice activated services are annoying at the best of times. I was also not offered any compensation when trying to set up internet on my HTC numerous times and being on the phone for at least half an hour on three separate occasions.

I only switched to Vodafone for the HTC Legend. I probably shouldn't have bothered.

No video calling - was promised it 2 years ago.
Continual dropping out of phone calls. Costs me heaps to keep dialling the customer back (get stung for flagfall cost each time)
Have been getting a lot of crossed lines of late. My call will just swap over to a different persons phone call. Sometimes they can hear me - most of the time I can't. I don't want other people listening to my calls - who knows if they have been?
When I lost my phone, i had to contact vodafone to lodge for a replacement. I was on hold with their insurance company for over an hour the first time, and just over 45 mins the next time. I never got through, it was easier to but a new phone. I contacted mangment - they didn't want to know. I have a year left on my contract - then i'm ripping up my contract.

It took me four months to get Vodafone to admit their wireless broadband network was not working and to refund my money. FOUR MONTHS of navigating through Lara and waiting on hold. In the end, when they admitted their network wasn't working and knew it wasn't working I asked them why they were still signing up customers, to which I received no answer.

The worst experience was when I went to a Vodafone store to take back my faulty phone, which was under warranty, and the sales woman refused to take it back. She clearly didn't like having someone in her store that wasn't buying anything and made a big deal about not taking back the phone. She was yelling at the top of her lungs at me, almost screaming at me, while her staff members looked at her in fear and a man who was shopping for a phone looked on in disbelief.

I've only got a few months of the contract left. I can't wait to change to a telco. where my calls don't drop out all the time and where I won't be treated like shit.

2720 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Completely hopeless at 27 Dec 2010 02:09:24 PM
I have both a pre paid mobile and a 24 month mobile broadband contract with Vodafone. My text messages take for ever to go through. It will say it is sent, but the recipient will not receive the text message for between 20 minutes and 24 hours later. Signal will drop out on phone calls in metropolitan areas and in the middle of phone calls.
My mobile broadband contract is a complete joke. The contract ended nearly 10 months ago and I am still trying to get in contact with Vodafone to get the direct debits ceased. Just last week I was waiting on hold on the phone for 3 hours to try to get this issue rectified (after which time my phone signal dropped out and the call was disconnected and I had not even spoken to anyone)! I sent an email and I first get an auto matic response saying they have resolved my query and to check their website. So I sent another email saying it is not a query and it is a complaint and is not resolved and I receive another auto matic response email SEVEN days later saying there is a delay in responding and it could be another TWO weeks before I get a reply!!! During these automatic emails I received my vodafone bill via email where I was totally shocked and outraged to see I had been charged 60% more for my bill than usual!!!! They are claiming I didn't pay my last bill - it is a direct debit and the money was in the account at the time the bill was due (even though I have been trying for nearly 10 months to have this stopped)and now my bank has charged me for having a declined payment!!! Vodafone - when is this going to stop? I have had enough - I am at my wits end. Even when I was using the mobile broadband it was always slow, often it would not even connect even though vodafone claimed I could get signal at my residence. I waited out the contract because I knew it was the right thing to do, but now I can't get anybody from Vodafone to speak to so I can actually have the payments ceased. This is getting ridiculous. All vodafone say is to call their customer care number, but I only have a half hour meal break at work (if I am lucky) - I am yet to speak to a person in that time when I ring the number! You can't even leave a message for someone from vodafone to call you back - they just leave you on hold. I am an extremely dissatisfied customer and regret the day I ever signed up a contract with Vodafone.

2537 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Awful at 27 Dec 2010 01:28:46 PM
I run 3 businesses and my phone is integral to this. My home office seems to be in a dead zone, with calls going straight to message bank when I still have a bar or two of signal. Best I can get is 2 bars. One in 5 calls drop out. Usually unable to connect with voicemail. Have spent waaay too much time on hold. Only Optus was worse for hold times. I too am stuck in a contract for my iphone.

2516 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is extraordinarily at 27 Dec 2010 01:22:00 PM
ive had several issues with vodafone... from being charged for data wen i am supposed to be on an unlimited data plan to being refused a replacement phone free of charge, when the phone they gave me to replace a previous phone was faulty from the start. i went into one of their stores and was spoken to very rudely and accused of causing the damage wen it was faulty from the moment i used it. and told to speak to their complaints department who spoke to me extraordinarily rudely and again accused me of causing the damage. i am have an ongoing medical condition and this confrontation caused me significant distress and aggravated my condition. When i sent the first phone in to be repaired i asked if the unlimited data would be still included even tho i wasnt using a blackberry. when i received my next bill it had over $250 dollars worth of internet fees. it took me an approximation of about 4 days to actually get a hold of someone who would actually be bothered to assist me. waiting on hold for over 3 hours at a time. it is unacceptable and something needs to be done. i am now stuck with 2 phones that do not work and vodafone has done nothing to offer a solution.
27 Dec 2010 03:31:11 PM: You can break the contract. Tell them you are going to contact the Telecommunications ombudsmen and lodge a complaint for failing to provide the service you signed up for. Also quote them "IT IS AGAINST THE LAW TO ENTER INTO A LEGALLY BINDING CONTRACT IF YOU CAN NOT LIVE UP TO THE SERVICE DESCRIBED"
