Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

I have a 8GB Pocket wi-fi- what crap reception we have constant drop outs and slow speeds. I have complained numerous times because I am meant to have a bonus 2GB giving me 10gb, they can't get it right. They then charge me for excess over 8Gb when I have 10GB. You ring them and wait over 30 - 40 mins each time to get them they say they will reverse the overcharge and still don't get it right on the bill. I had to the email them with the same complaint. After trying to ring and disgusted with the wait time of over 40 mins. NOT GOOD ENOUGH VODAFONE.

I'm really dissapointed as I have been with Vodafone for 12 years! I don't get voicemails until week later, my reception is poor, calls drop out all the time & I've attempted calling help lines to discuss issues & have been on hold for longer than 30mins- just to be cut off! Poor service! Very annoying & I rely on my phone for work out of hours!

6202 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is no service at 28 Dec 2010 08:59:47 AM
I was with Vodafail for over 6 years on prepaid then contract, getting no service, moved from Brisbane to Wide Bay having service when we first moved then got progressively worse, got sick and tired of being on hold, get drop outs while trying to ring them having to go through the process with lara sometime up to ten time before you got to speak with some one, not being able understand them when you finally get through to a human, let alone if you got the right department in the first place, getting transfer to the right department then dropping out and having to start the whole process again, my longest call to nowhere took over 2 hours. Every time you had a problem it would not get resolved, finally contract finish and moved to telstra, i moved 4 phones away from vodafail to telstra, cost a little more however i can actually use my phone. now I have left I get text messages to tell me that my email address to send my bill is not available, [which is a Bigpond email address and is still active] telling me to log on to my account [which I don't have anymore] and change email address, trying to email them is about it is still on going for a month now, receive the bill with a credit of $70+ trying to get it credited to my credit card which use to pay the bill, still waiting for a reply on that one, I am not even with them and still having issues.

my daughter is with 3 since vodafail took over she gets no service from just north of central Brisbane past wide bay previously she got service all the way.

to think that Vodafail forced the government to get rid of the analogue system or they would not bring there digital network in.

having been a vodafone customer ever since i got a phone, i have been remaining loyal to them for over 7 years. over the last 6 months (since i got my iphone) my service has been failindramatically. calls failing, no service, internet drops out, receiving voicemails days later but no actual phonecalls. my bf has tried calling me only to have a recorded msg telling him my phone has been diconnnected! I did try and call vodafone but was on hold for over half an hour and after getting rorted last year while i was on a cap for going over my limit (all of a sudden ive used $700 worth of calls in one month?) i didnt want to wait. i thought that maybe it was just my new iphone, but then a co-worker showed me a news article after i had been complaining about it, stating that there were vodafone customers everywhere that were experiencing the same problems as me!

i dont want to go with telstra and optus, i had chosen vodafone because it was an alternative to those two, but now i dont know what to do. all i want to know is, will i be charged a fee for leaving in the middle of my contract due to something that is not my fault, but a fault of the provider? i wouldnt be consdiering leaving if it werent for this.

6173 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MEGA fail at 28 Dec 2010 08:45:49 AM
My partner and I have been Vodafone customers for 6-7 years now, after starting out on prepaid we were spending to much money so we decided to go on a cap. Vodafone had always worked so well for us and the caps were always so much more affordable and since we both travelled so much for work this was always our best option and we were always happy. But since renewing our plan and increasing our cap from $49 to the $79 cap in Dec 2009 we have been nothing but dissappointed. Firstly, I entered into a new plan a week before going overseas for a holiday. On my return 2 weeks later I had a bill for over $2000, I knew I had not used my phone that much whilst overseas, especially not enough to accrue a bill of that amount, after finally reaching them, they explained that I had 'apparently' cancelled a contract on 07 Dec, funny that, when it was impossible as I had only just signed 2 new contracts and on the date I was meant to have cancelled a contract in Australia, I was in Rome!!!! They eventually (after several phone calls to vodafone and the retailer where this apparently happened) they removed the fee. This however was just the beginning of a very disappointing run with Vodafone. Our caps vary so much, we are constantly shocked at the cost of our bills, knowing we do not vary our calls that much from month to month yet they are always over cap and sometimes by over $200. When I was with Telstra, if they could see your cap going over alot or not workng out, they used to contact you and talk through some ideas to better suit your calling patterns (this has never happened with Vodafone, they just want our money, there is no customer sevice) We have recently moved to a large inland NSW town, where you would expect to get full coverage, we get nothing and still have 12 months left on our plan. For our jobs, we both get moved regularly, we have been from Brisbane, to Sydney to Newcastle and until the past few months, have had no problems with reception. Now, even back in Sydney for christmas (a capital city), we get nothing, in a CAPITAL city, how can you get no coverage?? I was sent picture messages on Christmas day of my family as I was unable to be with them, some I received 3 and 4 days later, most I still have not received 5 days later. We can have full netowrk coverage and 3G activated, attempt to log onto the internet and wait for up to 10mins before it even looks like connecting, you would think if you have reception you could utilise the service. This is unacceptable, we pay for a service that we can not even use...... RUBBISH!! I have not been reveiving bills either via the mail or e-mail, I am just receiving text saying my bill is overdue, this is not acceptable. I have attempted to call several times to discuss my issues however after it cutting out and then being on hold for 30mins plus, and then for them to say they will redirect me and be taken back to the voice activated main menu AGAIN and AGAIN and get no where I have given up. I WANT OUT!!

6170 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 28 Dec 2010 08:45:17 AM
Firstly when I was going over my cap they failed to contact me and let me know. So they ended up barring my phone. When they sent me an sms telling me to contact this number from my mobile I couldn't as they had barred my phone. When I call up to complain I get someone from "over seas" who can not understand a complete word I was saying, which pissed me off even more. When my bill had been sorted out I waited on hold to Vodafone for over an hour and got a very rude guy who also I could not understand nor could he speak english very well. He was no help at all and was quite rude. After talking to him for half an hour he told me he would transfer my call over to the billing department. He did so and he put me onto the wrong line. A waste of time on my part.
After sorting it all out in the morning my battery now fails. Doesn't stay charged for very long at all, and I find it hard to get reception. It goes completely out of service in areas it shouldn't be.
Not very happy at all, I will be looking into how much it cost's me to get out of my plan and switching to another phone company.

6168 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is extremely FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 08:44:59 AM
will shorten this down, cause to explain the entire problem will take too uch of your time!
i bought a brand new vodafone, it was stuffed. getting extremely hot and going flat within a couple of hours!
i took it in and they sent it away. after six weeks i called and it had been sitting there for three weeks with no phonecall. it was still stuffed, same problem.
i took it in again the next day, they sent it away and it took three more weeks. once again it was sitting there without a phone call to let me know it was ready! AND . . . still stuffed!!
i took it in the third time and asked for a new one! but no, company policy is "it has to be sent away 3 times first." it was gone for another 6 weeks. during which time i called a couple of times to see if it was ready, to which i received some very abrupt replies stating that they will call me when its ready (yeh right!!)
it was still stuffed after the third time and i went back in again! after an hour of waiting because even the sales rep got put on hold! they finally agreed to give me a new phone which will be sent out!! and i should receive it within 10 working days. AWESOME!!!
it has since been 8 weeks and no phone! chasing it up, but as yet, no luck!

We just left voda phone (three) because of poor coverage for over 10 years only it seemed to get worse not better particularly in the last few months.

We also more recently had major issues with multiple text sending. The same text would be received by the one person several times. Each time would be charged. We complained for several months and the process was terrible. Not only did voda phone (three) fail to fix the problem, but communication was horrendous. On hold each time for nearly an hour, English as a second language issues, patronizing frustrating customer service methods and receiving a bill for cancellation after been told we wouldn't. Never again.

6083 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Totally Fail at 28 Dec 2010 07:55:43 AM
Gave up complaining to Vodafone months ago. My problem is the mobile broadband coverage. I have been with them for nearly 3yrs and funny enough, i am going to the shops today to find another provider. For the past 18mths i barely get access to the net in 3 houses that i have lived in during that time and i am metro Brisbane. Calling them is a nightmare, i either get hung up on or im on hold for an hour. Who has time to sit on a phone calling them for an hour to only have them transfer you through to someone else and then someone else and then get hung up on in between. AARRRGGHHH! Over them completely. I have been a loyal vodafone customer for over 15yrs and once my mobile comes out of contract in 2mths i will be moving to someone else - both my mobile and internet (including my husbands, parents and sisters). Vodafone - shame on you!

continuing drop outs
i have the bit rates visible whilst surfing the net and the drop outs are regular almost as if deliberate and sometimes for up to five minutes or no connection at all !!! But the software is telling me i am connected "very good"
speeds are rarely in to the arena of double digit
the only good thing is portability when moving house
but that is a lousy reason to be happy
customer service is nil because it costs too much to be on hold so long!!!

I live within a three kilometre radius of my parents within the same postcode but get no service at my parents, I phoned vodaphone on the 25/12 as I was sick of it only to have the call centre staff tell me there is nothing he can do about it. This was after I had phoned the second time and was on hold for half an hour before speaking with some one.....IN INDIA!! it was lovely to find out he has perfect 3g vodaphone coverage!! I have now refered my complaint to the Telecommunications Ombudsmen I'm tired of paying top dollar for a sub standard service.

5998 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is A HUGE FAILURE at 28 Dec 2010 07:20:28 AM
I have been having network coverage issues for over 4 months now. It doe not matter where I am -I am without coverage 99% of the time. My text messages and voice mail messages are delayed sometimes by over 24hours.
My mobile is so important to me as I have a young daughter and I also atend dialysis daily. So many times the nursing staff have tried to conatct me on my mobile and it goes straight to message bank -and I do not recieve the message in time. While I am on dialysis my daughter attends vacation care, what if they needed to conatct me .....they cannot reach me because I have no network coverage. My mobile phone is also important as I could recieve the most important phone call ever to say they have a new kidney for me. So as you can see my mobile is so necessary for me.
I have rang Vodafone numerous times, many times I have had to hang up after waiting on hold for over 40mins. When I do speak to an operator they tell me me to -restore factory settings and select manual (under settings/network)and they say this should fix the problem, if not ring back in 24 hours. I ring back in 24 hours and they want to do exactly the same fix that we did yesterday. I try to tell them that we did this yesterday -so then they tell me to swap sim cards over and it could be the phone that is the problem not Vodafone.I have asked about exiting my contract early without a fee and they will not do it.....I am realy desperate. Any help would be great.

Was told by a vodafone rep that I would NOT be charged text messages while I was in the UK but charged for the phone calls. I purchased a UK phone to make the calls and used my aussie vodafone to text people. Then found a bill over $200! I tried to contact them about not being too please with the information I was told but no response. Tried to email but kept getting 'it is in the system' type responses which then said "we have not heard from you for 48 hours and now assume the problem has been fixed'. Problem was definately NOT fixed and still had problems getting through. On hold for ages. I would like to get out of my contract early but it will cost too much. Looking forwrad to signing up with another company. NOT HAPPY.

I can only use my phone once I'm 5 minutes from home here in Toowoomba. Most people have my mobile number and I have had some distressing family issues occur over the past 12 months. My bother-in-law passed away and the family tried to call not knowing my problems with coverage so they left a message which I didn't received until the day after away he passed away! My daughter had a miscarriage while I was holidaying in Lorne and I didn't get the message until I was on the highway back to Melbourne. These two family tradgedies are just some of my issues with vodafone....try calling them and get sick of being on hold!!!!

I have been with 3 for years and was told Voda and 3 were basically one and the same so went with a better off through Vodafone. Well ...

messaging taking 24 plus hours to be delivered.

I have been billed for my last month and cant access my billing invoice to see what I have been charged for. My bill is also higher than expected, I cant see a reason, but cant see my physical bill or usage to confirm.

Customer service is non existant. (hours on hold) (lack of help)

BUT if you want to change your plan or get something new, there is someone there to help.

I was happily with 3 for ages, no problems, then signed up to vodaphone for a combo phone internet plan - I was told they are merging, and if there were any dramas it would be ok. with vodafone internet kept dropping out (nearly missed an ebay purchase haha). many calls later, often on hold 20-35 mins, and often calls dropping out, they eventually agreed to release me from the plan on condition i signed back up with 3, returned the phone etc. Also in early days I sent internet key back thinking that might be the problem (no charge) and it checked out ok by their people, but they had that for a week and no replacement in the meantime. I was lucky bcs I still had an internet plan with 3 at the time, which never dropped out. So initially when vodafone wanted to 'investigate coverage' which they said could take 6 days I argued against this. they said their computer or whatever showed good coverage in my area. I think it was only because of my 'proof' with the 3 internet working fine and the vodafone one constantly dropping out, that they agreed to release me. I emphasised to them I wasn't trying to get out of being their customer or pay a lesser plan, I just wanted to switch back to 3, afterall they were merging so what was the problem??? sigh. lots of time wasted on calls to sort this out. btw got sick of Rob Thomas when on hold. ALSO to end it off, they then charged me for the full plan (got a bill for $1500) because they had no record of receiving the phone back yet, so that took quite a few more calls to sort out. i realised i had nothing in writing to prove they had agreed (over the phone) to release me. hey vodafail, keep up the good work!

i catch the ferry to/from meadowbank & king st wharf every day. The coverage continually drops in & out throughout the journey. Further to that, right throughout Sydney, I continually get no coverage despite the phone showing good coverage. I tried to call vodafone re these problems but hung up after being on hold for 40 mins. I'm waiting until Feb when my contract ends and switching. If I can't get through to customer care then, I'm going to the TIO

5943 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is In All Ways at 28 Dec 2010 06:49:14 AM
I have missed important medical appointments from failed voicemail messages that I have not been able to listen to / retrieve.
Takes upto 3-5 days to retrieve messages both voice and text.
I have been kept on hold for upto 1 hour 3 different times in one day regarding a phone bill that I have paid, I have the receipt with a receipt number, but the operator did not want to know that, he wanted to argue I hadn't paid the bill. I am still waiting for a hard copy to be posted to me and prove that I have paid for that bill.
I also find their billing system pathetic; why they have to send it in an email is beyond me.
Service drop out is ridiculous: I have hardly any coverage at all;
The last time I spoke to Vodafone about all my issues, I told them I would be looking to change carrier, he wasn't too fussed - told me to have a nice day. This is not customer service.

I went with vodafone about a year ago and after 3 months of having no reception even in the middle of a city of 70000 people and being charged extra for things I had no idea about I tried to cancel my plan, it took me a month but they finally cancelled it...well I thought so until they started taking money off my credit card every month without my permission. I called up again and they said it hadn't been cancelled properly and said they would refund the amounts they had withdrawn. So another 2 months later I still hadn't received a refund so I called up yet again and finally they sent through a refund...for only half what they owed me but I was over being on hold for 2 hours while they 'checked my account' so I left it. Then last week I get a letter saying I owe them money!! I called again and was put on hold for over an hour at which stage I had to hang up. I guess I will just have to try again this week but I HATE VODAFONE!

I have two mobile phones. One for my business aswell as personal and the other for my wife. I am very dissapointed and SO ANNOYED at their reception service. Cuts out ALL THE TIME in many areas as well as my home. It is really getting bad, as i am speaking to clients. I am a capenter and need to ba able to discuss needs in detail and VODAFONE can not provide my needs.
When am at home and i have to continue to ring clients back or go walk about outside to find a better reception spot. This is not good enough. I should be able to sit in my office and speak to clients without issue. It is very frustrating not just for me but for clients as well, especially potential future clients. I need to be able to conduct business professionally.
I am also unable to speak to my wife on the mobile when i am at job sites as she is at home with 2 young babies. She is unable to go walk about outside to find reception area when her mobile rings. She answers and can not speak for long before cutting out. Only one part of the house can get a little reception. This is very frustrating for her too.
We will defanately be leaving Vodafone when contracts finish and going to a more respectable service provider.
Vodafone will never get our business again as customer service is low and you get fed up being on hold. Never again.

Last week my partner and I(both vodafone) all of a sudden had could not send or receive txt's or calls, dispite having reception. A few days later we were able to send and receive txt msg's however they're delayed. If we drive about 2km down the road we our phones work again. This is proving to be quite dangerous as we have an 18month old and I am in the last stages of pregnancy, and god forbid I need to call a doctor or ambulance. It's like our house has fallen into a blackhole. We live right in the main section of our town too. I have driven down the road on a few occasions and tried to call but I do not have all day to sit on hold. Myn partner and I would both like to get out of our contracts without payment as this is NOT the 1st incident we have had with Vodafone, and let's be honest it won't be the last.

Signed up for the Pocket Wifi deal. Great device, but not happy with the reception in the Hornsby area in Sydney. I place the device in a location inside my girlfriends unit where I get 5 bars of 3G reception. The 3G service often drops down to the low speed "H" network or I lose service entirely. This makes surfing the web very frustrating. I have to try all manner of tricks to get a connection back again. I hope that Vodaphone realise that this wave of complaints from its customers is not a situation to be ignored. I think it's fair to say that there will not be a magic solution to this, it will take time. If it takes too long Vodaphone will lose a significant number of customers to other telcos.

I got a wireless dongle on a 24 month contract so I could access work emails when I traveled. Didn't matter where I was, reception was always "very low" and I had to reboot half a dozen times to then wait 5 minutes for a simple email to download. I just couldn't rely on it anymore so, even though I don't like Telstra, I got a bigpond dongle and never had a problem! I waited 24 months then canceled the contract but they continued to send me monthly bills. Every time I tried to ring I was put on hold for ages then cut off. I started ringing the new sales number as they only take about 20mins to answer that one. When I eventually spoke to a person they assured me my contract was now canceled but wanted to argue about the date - I then figured out they were in INDIA! where it was actually the day before. So now all our private details including credit cards are available to anyone in India??????? I went straight out and canceled all our business mobile phone contracts and took them to Telstra - cost me a fortune but got great customer service and reception in places Ive never had it before!

I think it's fair to say that there will not be a magic solution to this, it will take time. If it takes too long Vodaphone will lose a significant number of customers to other telcos.

I think Vodafone are the worst company I have ever had to deal with. I have used them in England and in Australia and both times they had no customer service skills and spoke to me like a piece of dirt. Every time I have to call them I am on hold for around an hour, and then I speak to someone who I cannot understand. It took them over a week to activate my pay as you go sim card as they messed up. No apologies or anything, I will never ever use them again and urge everyone I know who is buying a phone to stay far away from Vodafail!!

No service on my Vodafone Mobile Broadband Card. When there WAS service it dropped out every 5 seconds and i had to log back in. OVER AND OVER AND OVER!! No response when I called to complain. Felt like the complaints line was purposely ignored in hopes that I'd GO AWAY! Left on hold for ages, costing me $1/minute on a prepaid mobile card. Second class customer, because I have NO Vodafone Mobile #(My PHONE is with Virgin, Thank God) and their service number demands your Vodafone Mobile # BEFORE they'll attempt to help you. Answered by this smarmy 'LARA' voice that drops you out without satisfaction to your problem. I had to GO to a Vodafone store for help... even THEY spent 30 minutes on the phone to their OWN headquarters before someone answered! Demanded a payout figure for my (non contracted) service... PAID it on the spot and got an invoice three weeks later insisting I OWED them the $16 CREDIT that THEY owed me. Received additional invoices and SMS's DEMANDING payment of a $16 CREDIT! Had to call AGAIN to get the $16 refunded to me... HAVEN"T SEEN it YET! THEY SUCK! THEY SUCK! THEY SUCK! I HATE THEM! I'D RATHER STICK PINS IN MY EYES THAN TO EVER HAVE TO DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN. I WOULDN'T P**S IN THEIR EAR IF THEIR BRAIN WAS ON FIRE!

I have missed an improtant call for a job interview beacuse of it before. When ringing the helpdesk, after waiting for an hour on hold i get told that they are working on the problem but can give no timeframe of when it will be fixed. From Angus

I was one of those noisy customers who complained to the ombudsman. And was released from my 24 month contract with 23 months remaining. Still, this was no easy task. Initally my phone was set up incorrectly and the number only 1/2 ported. Not being the phone guru I can't supply full detail but I was left with no phone for about 48 hours. I did buy a telstra prepaid card to call "Lara" who told me too many times int he 45 min average on hold that I was important and my call would be answered shortly. Eventually that issue was sorted. - then my usb inter. net and phone reception went - same time, same day. More chats with Lara - only to be told eventually it must be my sim. Funny - 2 at once! More trips to the store where the staff just get to ring Lara.
This is a super abreviated version - It was too long and boring and orderal - but NEVER AGAIN VODAFONE. Note that my reception issues were in Port Melbourne. under 5 km from Melbourne CBD. At least I escaped!
28 Dec 2010 02:38:36 AM: unfortunately stories like this are long and could take up hours of writing... but this IS the place to air your grievances, I've been reading 100's of stories and I can finally say to myself 'at least I'm not alone anymore'. vodafone actually made me cry one morning, it made me feel sick.

Thank you so so much for making this site. I have lost significant amounts of time and income, as well as having endured extreme frustration as a direct result of the unacceptably poor "service" provided by Vodafone. The call drop outs and lags in relaying voicemail and SMS is pathetic. My iPhone 4 (with a brand new Sim card - thank you very much!!!) is often reduced to an expensive brick because of Vodafone. It even drops out when you call the help line, and after a thirty minute wait on hold, no one calls you back. This is INEXCUSABLE for a gigantic company that is charging me over $100 per month! Let me know if a class action takes place, as I will be very interested in pursuing them.

5710 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Completely unreliable at 28 Dec 2010 02:06:27 AM
For the past nine months it's been an absolutely appalling experience trying to use my phone. 75% of all calls drop out at some point, half of those drop out in the first 10 seconds. Internet is completely unreliable, taking over 3 minutes to load the vodafone homepage on my iphone is an ironic example. I have spent hours on hold trying to talk to vodafone about it, most occasions I don't get through at all. It has even dropped out when I'm speaking to a vodafone rep several times and they have never called me back.
I've lost thousands of dollars worth of potential income as a result, and have had enormous strain put on my relationship. I'll be seeking compensation for both loss of work, and mental damages.
5 Jan 2011 09:38:18 AM: You poor baby..
10 Jan 2011 07:10:53 PM: I would too! It rediculous that they can get away with this! I'm going through the TIO right now because Vodafone is unreachable for me.

I have the same problems with calls to customer service continually dropping out. You wait 45 mins and then when someone answers they get as far as "Hi my name is ****" and then the call drops out.

Oh and I love it when they launch an "investigation". They say they'll ring you back in five days when what they really mean is wait for ten days before someone rings up and says "How is this problem going?".

Not acceptable Vodafone.

Calls won't go through. Try 5-10 times to get a connection. Call drops out after 10 seconds. Vmails and texts come though much later than they were sent. Tried to call 1555 but on hold for ages, then drops out and have to call back AGAIN! This service is useless for me and my wife. We are both on $114 per month plans too which is woeful.

I have vodafone prepaid. I have had several issues over the past 2 years, mostly in the last 6 months. these issues have included, but arent limited to: not receiving any texts for 48 hrs, then receiving them all at once, despite having reception the entire time, being able to send texts, and rebooting my phone; poor/no network coverage despite the fact i live very close to melbourne cbd; and the most annoying: one day i sent a text, then got a reply from my friend asking why i had sent multiple texts (about 6). this happened with others throughout the day - some texts going to the same person up to a dozen times. when i called vodafone to sort the issue out, they replied that they had network problems and were working to resolve it. when i asked if i was being charged for the multiple texts, they replied that i was, and that i would have to call them back once they have fixed the problem to (somehow) be reimbursed. i dont see why it should be MY responsibility to resolve this issue. a) HOW would i ever know when vodafone had resolved their internal issue?! and b) i DONT want to wait on hold AGAIN just to talk to a foreign operator who cannot understand me. i wasted a prepaid card that day. i have already been considering switching providers, and now after seeing how many others are disgruntled, i WILL be. reception continually drops out and that's when it's working. The worst of vodafone is the ignorance it extends to it's customers for service calls which is a testament to the company's interest in keeping existing customers satisfied.Waiting "on hold" for over 2 hrs indicates vodafones care factor.... Sweet F.A.
Add that to it's deteriorating service/reception capabilities....what's it coming to? A far cry from the service I received just 2 hrs ago. WHATS HAPPENED VODAFONE.

5607 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is a freaking joke! at 27 Dec 2010 11:38:18 PM
I was a happy customer for 10 years until they took over 3! All the problems started but I actually thought it was my fone instead of vodafone !! it got so bad that apparently i had reception but no one could call me and it didn't even go to my voicemail, it got so bad i couldn't make calls, receive calls, recieve, send text msgs or they would be delayed..

and vodafone's solution was to turn my fone off and on.. UM what i have to do that every 5 minutes just incase i might of lost connection or not..

soo pissed off i was on hold for an a hour to only be CUT OFF.. to being on hold for ANOTHER HOUR... to get thru to someone to ONLY BE CUT OFF AGAIN!!! after 4 hours of on hold and finally getting thru to someone apparently they had NO OTHER complaints about their shit ass service!! a complete JOKE!!

i told them i wanted to break my contract and they wanted me to pay $600 for the exit fee what a joke on top of that i had to go thru this bullshit investigation WASTE my saturday off work to go and CHANGE MY SIM card.. coz apparently my sim card was too old.. WHAT A JOKE!! everyone's sim card is apparently faulty!!!! THEN they wanted me to make calls and take note of the date and time and number of failed calls etc... and saying they would do an investigation of the service in my area.. HELLO .. I AM NOT HOME BOUND.. IT IS A FREAKING MOBILE FONE!! I DO GO TO OTHER AREAS AND STILL EXPRIENCE PROBLEMS!! WASTE OF FREAKING TIME AND MONEY..

they apparently were going to waive my bills... I made a complaint to the TIO (THEY R THE BEST.. TIO ALL THE WAY!!!) And after about 3 weeks of their bullshit investigation and going thru talking to a million indian people who JUST TALK DOWN TO U LIKE WAT UR SAYING IS BULLSHIT! I finally got thru to someone and told them they had 10 days to solve my problem or the TIO was getting involved... FUNNY they were QUICK to resolve my issue.. as i apparently thought they did until two months later after i changed to OPTUS!...
I received a LETTER OF DEMAND... to pay for a freakin bill that was apparenly waived!!! and when i spoke to voda fone reopened my TIO complaint.. they then told me it was sorted until TODAY i received a text msg from VodaFAIL that my bill of $4.88 was due 18th of JAN!!!!!!! WTF!!!!

They are complete JOKE! And after it's become public news that vodafone is experiencing problems my sister is speaking to someone from vodafone that is telling her that she is the first person to complain about these problems and the service is FINE in my area but funny when she told them I her own sister that lives in the SAME house as her had the same problems and that vodafone themselves did a investigation to prove that there is these issues and they let me go out of my contract for the service problem in my area and they are telling her she has no problems in her area.. UM WE LIVE IN THE SAME FREAKING HOUSE!!! THEY ARE COMPLETE LIARS AND A WASTE OF TIME!!... Not to mention if you are in dangerous situation you can't even call out from your freaking mobile for help!!! WHAT IS THE POINT!

I am a 3 customer and after years being with the company, it has gone from bad, to worse... I upgraded my LG handset to an LG Viewty and immediatly noticed the difference in coverage, calls dropping and the Internet working less than half of the time, in places it previously had worked. I contacted 3 to complain and let them know how bad the new phone was. I went to the store and they could not exchange as they were out of stock.. After being on the phone for hours the service I got was horrible. I never returned my phone in the end (they made the experience so bad I just put up with it). I have since upgraded again with a new phone number so now have 2x $29 caps and the new Iphone4, and have to say the Internet on there is still dropping out (SICK OF READING 'COULD NOT ACTIVATE CELLULAR NETWORK!!!) In my time I have spent countless hours on the phone always falling on deaf ears, I once spent an HOUR AND HALF on hold waiting to get through to an operator!! I even had a sleep while waiting with the phone resting on my ear!! SICK OF EVERYTIME I CALL THE MESSAGE AT THE START- 'DUE TO THE RELEASE OF THE NEW IPHONE4 WE ARE EXPERIENCING A LARGE CALL VOLUME AND DELAYED WAITS MAY OCCUR!!!) well that message has been on the system for over 6 months now, just hire more f*#kn people!! Everytime a credit is arranged for my account, it never EVER happens, after it has been promised to me, so then I need to explain everything again and why I was receiving a credit and makes me feel like a liar.. I could go on all day and into the night about the problems I have had, most of all the coverage is horrible!! I work in home consultations in a new job, and while my boss was on the phone to my customer closing a deal, the phone dropped out 3 times, which im sure helped lead to the sale falling through (thats $1000 commission less in my pocket!!! THANKS FOR NOTHING 3!!!! (save the paper weight I carry around everyday!!) Jacob B

The company I work at uses Vodaphone for their mobile phones and wireless dongles and the whole company concurs that the service on both is crap - we regularly joke about it when we aren't too angry to talk. Any attempts to contact their support is fruitless and a complete joke - they will put you on hold forever, transfer you into a black void, tell you you rang the wrong number, or just cut you off, forcing you to call back and go through the process again - absolutely absurd. The phone service is barely audible a lot of the time, and the wireless dongles take a good 5 minutes just to find the device and create a connection on Windows 7, often dropping out a few minutes later. Oh, and the wireless dongle killed my Mac after installing Vodafail's software on it - system failed to boot afterwards.

5553 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Like totally. at 27 Dec 2010 10:53:50 PM
I joined Vodaphone's mobile broadband service earlier this year. Big mistake. Terrible service constantly with drop outs almost every 10 minutes. I was given the option of breaking my contract without any costs, because of the 'lack of service' in my area (I live in central Melbourne-go figure!!). I agreed to this, except when they tried to organize a return pack for the USB stick, they couldn't find my address! Even though I have received bills from them! After a painful 20 minutes, I was told I would need to go to my local council to 'verify' my address, even though I have lived here for more than 4 years and have no issues with any other company sending me mail. Eventually I asked to speak to a supervisor, who was still adamant my address didn't exist (despite also being a Vodaphone mobile customer). My address didn't exist when they did a google search, even though when I do a google search, remarkable it shows up!! My anger was huge by this point and I was screaming down the phone at how incompetent the company are and how it wasn't my problem their systems are crap. Bare in mind that this call had been going for 40 minutes, plus 20 minutes wait on hold, plus around another 20 minutes of hold time trying to get through on previous attempts, where the call had cut out before I had spoken to someone.

Eventually the supervisor put me through to a different department, for unknown reasons, where I had to explain the situation to some poor guy. He was perhaps the most useful and pleasant person I have ever dealt with at Vodaphone and man, there have been alot of calls. He checked my address and found it within seconds and the situation was rectified. I asked him, indeed pleaded with to tell me why he was able to do something, that two other people, including a 'supervisor' couldn't do!! He was at a loss for words and I think felt genuinely embarrassed.

This is a short hand 'family' version of the WORST interaction I have EVER had with a company. It took me hours to calm down after this. And don't get me started about the 80 minute long phonecall I had when I wanted to get an iphone or about the 50 minute phonecall where no-one could work out my wrongly charged bill, where I spoke to no less then 4 people. And then there's that god forsaken Lara voice automated service.

The worst customer service ever in the history of bad customer service.

Back in May 2010 my phone dropped out, no coverage at all having a few spare mobiles i swapped my sim...into 5 different phones! NO coverage! My brother came over with his telstra phone n i called Vodafone to complain, they checked towers in my area etc etc all saying no problem, tried system resets on the 2 main phones etc no go then they proceeded to tell me it was my phones that were broken and id need to buy a new handset!! I waited the problem out till 1 by 1 over the span of about 4 months they came back into service, the handset i want to use still drops out for days at a time! Grrrr

Around Oct i started to get messages out of the blue saying 'transaction failed - insufficient funds' 4-5 times a day for no reason i had done nothing to cause this, i called Voda several times and after being on hold for over an hour each time they would hang up on me. I sent them several emails over the past few months to which i received no reply, i must say though funny how the messages have stopped in the last 2-3 days!!

Calls continually drop out ill have to call someone 2-3 times just to have a 5 min convo! Had enough swapping companies so this doesnt affect my business!!

I was trying to complain about 2 months of inexcusable reception on internet and phone (e.g. 20 mins of 'searching for a signal' in inner Sydney). After being on hold and being transferred numerous times they tell me the problem was I need to buy a new sim card!!! I told them I wanted 2 months free seeing as I pay them for a service they arent providing me with. They offered a $20 credit (2 months would be $140) and as I was waiting to speak to someone with authority to give me the 2 months free the phone cut out... wait for it... because of poor reception!!!
Now I am overseas and overjoyed to see this website and that I am not alone. My boyfriend and I have both had $300 bills from VF while OS due to data. Be warned - even when you are connected to free wifi some apps on iphone still use data - and VF does not tell you this as I followed all their instructions on how to aviod OS charges. When I get home I will be cancelling my contract (and making sure I am not penalised) seeing as they have broken our contract. BASTARDS!!!

5487 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is I HATE LARA! at 27 Dec 2010 10:26:56 PM
Dear Lara.

If you are reading this than there is something I have been wanting to tell you for sometime now. It has been really difficult for me to come up with the right words to express how I feel. We've known each other for awhile now, and I think its pretty obvious that we have started to drift our separate ways. Its been a long hard road and I think its about time to call this thing quits. I don't think we could ever been friends again. I mean, after all I can never actually reach you. I'm always on hold & that annoying music you play drives me up the wall. So, I guess this is it. I think its best if we don't talk anymore. I have found someone else.

Sincerely,
J

p.s: I have cut up my sim card. You wont be able to reach me. Ha!.. I guess now you will know what it feels like to be barred, disconnected and kept on 'hold'.

5482 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 10:23:34 PM
This was the worst experience I've ever had.

I decided I wanted a new Iphone 4.
So I go to a store in elsternwick because I wanted to make sure that the plan I signed up for would include the bonus data as advertised. After I saw the representative use the website to place an internet order, I realise going to the store was a giant waste of time and I should have done it at home. I notice the guy enter my details twice, apparently a double deal they had going. I questioned him asking "I think doing that will order me 2 phones, I only want one", He assured me only one was getting ordered. I left the store, completely in doubt. So I call the Online Orders line, and after a 40 minute hold, get through. I ask to confirm that my order was for only 1 phone. Of course, it was for 2, and I had to go through the process of explaining to the online rep that it was the store rep's fault for stuffing it up.

The store rep told me it would take a maximum of 2 weeks for me to receive my iphone, 2 months later, I receive a card in the mail telling me it is ready to be picked up at Melbourne Airport. One lengthy roadtrip later, I am holding my Iphone.

When I turn it one, the Sim isn't recognized. So I attempt to call Customer service on my then current optus prepaid. 70 minutes later, I run out of credit and the call drops.

At this point I'd like to mention that ever customer service call followed the SAME LARA prompts/answers. What would you like to do? "Activate my SIM". Please provide your mobile number? "I don't have a mobile number because you haven't given me one". I'm sorry, please repeat that.
In the end, I just yelled CONNECT ME THROUGH TO AN OPERATOR until it eventually did.
And then the Operator would ask what my mobile number is, and all I could answer was "I don't know because you haven't given me one yet". Always greeted with stunned silence.

The next day, I go to a Vodafone store centre telling them of my problem. They let me use their phone to call customer service. After talking to lara, I finally get through to rep, only to have the call drop after I answered their initial "what is your name" question.

So I call back, after another 50 minutes on hold, the same thing happens.
I ask the store rep what is going on, He shrugs and says "They are having trouble with the phone lines, I should just try again later"

Optimistic, I go home, to look up the next nearest store to me. I make my way there and ask to use their phone to sort out this mess. Another 2 tries later, a total of 60 minutes on hold, and 2 dropped calls as soon as I was connected to a representative. Again, I ask the store assistants what is going wrong and they quite rudely tell me to go home and try it later.

The next day, I decided to buy more credit for my prepaid phone, hoping they had sorted their phone issues out. After half an hour on hold, and then being dropped as soon as I got through. I gave up for the rest of the day.

The next day (friday), I went to my parent's house (as they have a phone line - I didn't), and at 0930, nice and early, I call up tech support. This time (after 20 minutes on hold of course), I don't get dropped. And tell the representative what is happening. After a lengthy explanation that they haven't given me a mobile number yet and I need my SIM activated (which at this point I find out, isn't usually needed), I am told it will be operational in 20 minutes.

At 3pm, I call back, same deal, it will be ready in an hour.
At 4pm, I call back, again, it will be ready in half an hour (Support closed at 5pm).
At 4:30pm, I call back, and am on hold until 4:59, At which point, I am answered, and then hung up on due to closing time.

That monday, I go back to a store, and tell em my problem, and that they should ring up as a staff member to sort this problem out. (I was assuming they had some sort of priority line to skip the customer service queue - this is untrue). Eventually, I am told that my Credit check failed and that I would not be able to get an Iphone.

You mean this Iphone right here? - as I showed him what I was holding.
A mate of mine applied for the same plan + iphone, and was rejected on credit check (for some bizarre reason, his credit was fine).

So now I'm confused as to why I have been rejected, and yet still sent this iphone. I'm just about fed up and ready to leave (can you blame me?) - resolving to keep the iphone, unlock it, and go with a better telco, when the store rep rings up again, and this time tells me...

That my driver's licence number was input wrong.
He inputs it, and in 5 minutes, I'm connected.

It only took 2 months overdue, and a week of hassling to get my new iphone working and operational.
But now I get to experience the constant call dropouts, Data interruptions, crappy reception and horrible customer service Vodafone has to offer!

When my contract is up, NEVER AGAIN VODAFONE. NEVER AGAIN.
27 Dec 2010 10:32:06 PM: WOW!..thats just unbelievable
28 Dec 2010 12:00:15 AM: I really should have pushed for atleast 3 months free service or something, I think I was just ruined to resignation in the end :(

well it really only has been happening for me in the last 6-8 months. I can sit in my lounge room on the goldcoast, and have no reception, but if i walk out side i have 1 bar, and if i go stand in the middle of the road, i get 3 bars, and thats after i have turned the 3g off on my phone, the numerous times i have had a call end with call fail message or the times i have called people only to have it not do anything for 30 secs only to have once again the call fail message on the screen come up, but worst of all was when i was on hold to them, after 15 mins it call failed only to call them back and be on hold for 1hr 45 mins, and the nice indian male spoke to me, and told me that they were upgrading the network thats why their is problems, and he did agree with me that i shouldnt be paying the amount i pay every month as they are not holding up to their end of the bargain, yeah i was shocked that one of their own workers said i should try and get out of the contract and someone will call me back the 26th of nov 2010 today is 27 dec and i am still waiting for that call!
28 Dec 2010 12:42:04 AM: I'm an Idependent ACN Representative,I understand how everyone are totally dissatisfied with the Vodafone phone, internet and customer service qualities. Our ACN customer services are incredible. You can reach them less than 10 mins pratically everytime. They are fast and effiecient and never transfer your call unlike Telstra or Optus as I heard, If you want to know more about us, contact me in my email at cengiz@acnrep.com I loves to turn UNHAPPY customer to HAPPY customer.

3 days lost work , 5 hours on hold all for a faulty handset which would have been in their interest to replace . I've been a loyal customer for 12+ years . I was told to wait 3 months to get a new handset or pay $300 to get an upgrade . My business pretty much pays for my phone bills . One year I got no calls for my business and later found out my voice mail had disappeared , god knows what that cost me in lost sales and damage to the growth of my business . The resent time spent on hold nearly pushed me to breaking point and I know what thats like having just suffered a mental break down , I even told the operator this upon which he said I will make a special exception for you and give you a new handset , they then offered to post me a 2220 nokia the cheapest phone available , it took 5 days to arrive , not one as stated . I have since left them ! This is just a quick spray , not to mention their 'reception' !!

5417 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Worst joke by a clown at 27 Dec 2010 10:04:19 PM
Had been a Voda customer for nearly 3years but can't wait to leave once contract's over. Had a terrible experience with them.

Was charged $1300 for data charges I didn't even use.

Informed Voda of irregularities months after months & yet I was slapped with ridiculous amount of bills/smses demanding payments.

Here I was alerting them of something that wasn't right & there they were taking an oppurtunity to dump me with more demands for money.

Rang help cente & went into 3 different Voda shop to no resolutions and bills kept rising.

Everytime we rang the help desk, it's like speaking to a wall who echoes what we say. They need to move the call centre to AU & have proper English speaking operators who knows what on earth we are saying instead of repeating after themselves using scripts. It's so fake of them trying to be polite when they don't really care about our plight.

Call centre operator repeatedly said it's my fault & that I must pay off else I'll be taken to court. A supervisor then promised payment of just 200 since it was an error on their part and that someone will be in touch with me to confirm investigations & exact payment amount to be made.

No calls were received by me except smses demanding bill payment.
When eventually a call was received which was after weeks & months of complains, phone rang only once and sms came to inform us to ring call centre
& was put on hold again for hours.

Same explanation given & the wait started again. Calls/sms to ring helpdesk
and when someone eventually answered, issues passed to another dept and supervisoy and calls disconnected again.

Last resort; Made a complaint with TIO. Rang Vodafone to inform them of engagements with TIO; Within hours & max of 2 days, issues was resolved.

Eventually a payment of 280 was honoured after weeks/months of promise, threats of suspension & legal action by them.

Thanks to TIO but NO THANKS to VODA.
27 Dec 2010 10:20:23 PM: They made you jump through all kinda hurdles & hoops I'd imagine.

5411 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is BIG BIG FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 10:00:53 PM
Thankfully I finally managed to speak to someone! After weeks of the same on hold music and literally hours each day being passed around or hung up on by the Vodafone customer service people and two complaints to the TIO I actually spoke to someone who took me seriously. My favourite line was one man who said only "Thanks for calling Vodafone" before he hung up. But my main problem has now been sorted: I am now 'authorised' to access my own voicemail and make outgoing calls, the contract that took two weeks to be installed has gone through so I now have an operating phone - only to realise that the network service is so terrible I can only make one call in every three. I am plagued by the message 'call fail'. Or by my calls cutting out.
Simply not good enough. I hate the fact that I signed up for two years of this crap. Why oh why did I do it?
Please, wont the telephone God smite Vodafone for me? Well, I guess they're doing a good enough job of that themselves.

No signal at a number of areas between Ispwich and Toowomba & between Brisbane & Beerwah.
Customer service at the call centre for mobile internet is really, really bad - as I need to speak to someone because I can't get access to the web-site to self diagnose my problems. Was told that their service starts at 8am and when I call at 7.55 amm was put on hold until 7.30am and still no one available - have to hang up. Got good service with the store personnel at Riverlink though - thanks to them, very helpful.

I have only been a vodafone customer for 3 weeks and in that 3 weeks i have contacted vodafone customer service centre in INDIA 16 times, I am not a racist by any means but i ask for them to speak slower so i can understnad them they get cranky at me and start yelling and talking faster. i was on hold last week for 4.5 hours i was so frustrated when they finally answered. When i left my number for them to call me back "with in 12-16 mins" more than 3 hours later i got a call from them. My phone cuts out all the time and turns itself on and off, i have complained and they told me that there is no service issues and as i am a new customer i will have to pay out my contract. I'm furious. I have a girlfriend who works for vodafone store and she is a telstra customer because she hates their service and she is one of there employees
27 Dec 2010 10:17:29 PM: I had problems with my phone turning on and off all the time - took it into a vodafone shop because phone support is shit - after going back 3 times they replaced my phone even though I was in contract and it didn't cost me anything - now have new phone which is better than my old one. Might be worth trying that.

Signal cutting out all of the time, depending on where in a house or yard i am. Rang customer care on tuesday and 2 times after being on hold for 40 mins was cut off, then after another 20 with another call, i hung up, all the time a recorded msg telling me my call would be answered right away.. I was talking to a vodafone, no, 3! staff member earlier for approximately 1 hour (including half hour on hold) trying to sort a few things out on my bill.

I applied for a $39 month to month broadband plan, it was a special offer emailed to me, they put me on and billed me $49 a month.

Also I did not receive my dongle until the 13th of December and was charged from the 30th of November!
The staff member had to put me on hold while he went to ask what a dongle was?

I phoned around the 12th of December to advise I had not received it and was told not to worry, I would not be charged. How was I to know it had been delivered to the Post Office when no notification was left to tell me? My contract stated that it would be delivered to my door and I would have to show I.D and sign.

The staff member could not explain to me what my volume limit was. It says I have passed this everytime I connect. He then put me through to a closed department.

I did not ask for my mobile to be put on the same bill. It has never been direct debited before as the broadband is nor did I give permission.

I am not happy with the signal either, I only get poor service, one bar only.

I have also been annoyed that my prepaid mobile was cancelled without advising me first.

I will consider cancelling my phone plan when it expires in February also but lets hope conditions improve.

5338 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is unreliable at 27 Dec 2010 09:41:14 PM
I purchased a "premium " number from voidafone, signed a contract only to find my "premium" number did not work. It took eight weeks for voidafone to "fix" the problem.During those eight weeks I spent many valuable hours on hold, and on most days I was assured the problem would fixed the next day.
Eventually I ended up dealing with voidafones national manager for portability. She did get the number up and running eventually. For most of those eight weeks I never received any calls or sms messages. Voidafone was unable to retrieve any of those sms messages or tell me who had tried to call.
The most damage was done when clients rang and could not be diverted to voicemail, instead they got a voidafone message giving many of them the impression my fone was disconnected, which then led them to assume it was for non payment.
I have had ongoing problems, but not as severe.Voidafones manager for portability refused my request to release me from my contract.
My business lost about $50000 last year.
As a hard working battler who pays his rent on time every week, as well as all our other bills,I feel voidafone needs to be taken to task, especially since they denied alot of these problems which are out in the open now
28 Dec 2010 06:06:41 AM: incomepance with a capital I
28 Dec 2010 06:12:37 AM: incompetance?
30 Dec 2010 04:15:44 PM: That how we spell, keep up the good work.
30 Dec 2010 10:42:21 PM: voidafone? first if your going to have a whinge about a company you have to atleast spell it right
31 Dec 2010 07:28:37 AM: If you are that slow you cannot see the pun he makes with the "Voidafone" you shouldnt be using a computer.
31 Dec 2010 01:46:24 PM: Hahaha, the person that posted at 12:42:21pm is an idiot haha. FAIL to him.
1 Jan 2011 07:09:38 AM: Can't spell? I think I can.Are you from a non english speaking background and employed by Voidafone? With my limited year 10 school education (Ballina High), and not looking at a dictionary, my understanding is that void can mean to negate or cancel, or it could also mean a gap or a hole.
As for your spelling, your means belonging to you, did you perhaps mean to type ..."if you are", or did you mean to type ..."if you're"??
I feel my complaint is justified and not a whinge. Eight weeks to fix the problem, not good enough, and it was only after Voidafone's
engineers couldn't fix the problem, and the manager for portability tried to offer me other numbers, and I lost it with her , and demanded she look into the history of the number, which she did,I then asked if the number had ever worked, then she realised that the number was previously owned by a big company and not set up to receive calls. I assume possibly a tv channel for competitions (eg if you know the answer text 'yes"to 0404......."
It only took aprox 2 more weeks to fix the problem.

1 Jan 2011 11:38:06 AM: For anyone interested in the real issues at stake, I went on Vodafones site, read what Cormack Hodginson (director of customer service and experience) had to say, and posted a reply requesting he check out this site with this ref (5338). I also requested he liase with vhf manager for portability. She knows my story too well. I have emailed her re requesting release from 2 contracts. I got an out of office reply from her, stating she will be back jan4. No reply from Cormack as yet.
I am curious as to what sort of replies I may or may not receive.
1 Jan 2011 01:51:55 PM: we are really glad to know about the school u studied at and about ur Thorough english knowledge :P..whats left now is that u can get a masters degree in english from a good university :P :D
1 Jan 2011 04:03:56 PM: Perhaps you guys at vodafail should be doing the studying; six weeks and the vodafail engineers couldnt work out that my number wasn't set up to receive calls!!! It took me and my year ten education to ask about the history of the number before you guys actually did anything constructive. happy with my level of education, dont need phd, besides, too busy running a business that reliabley provides the services that we contract to do.If we were to fail to deliver we would'nt be in business and we certainly wouldnt be charging our clients for our failures.
1 Jan 2011 05:14:43 PM: in that case welcome to vodafail...its indeed astonishing that u after ur ten years of education expected otherwise from vodafail...i wonder what u reckon from the name VODAFAIL in the first place :P
1 Jan 2011 06:53:08 PM: Opinions are like arseholes, everyones got one, seems u choose(or get paid$6/day) to peddle someone elses.Good job mate.
Issues are pretty staight forward, Vodafone has failed to provide services for which they have been paid to provide, a lot of people have been severely inconvenienced, some outright ripped off, and others like myself have been severely inconvenienced and have had our livelihoods impacted upon due to a variety of failures and blunders.
1 Jan 2011 07:21:15 PM: :P :D you are lame,Good luck with your career peddling
2 Jan 2011 02:07:41 AM: lol for the person who is complaining about the "voidafone"
umm its void a fone *cough* get it??? VOID A FONE
VODAPHONE = VOIDAFONE
do you see why he has said that.... your as idiotic as voidafone
2 Jan 2011 07:23:12 AM: gee feel for you. as a non business user, i can bear the pain.......and trust me I have. But as a business, vodafone should be made responsible for your losses somehow! a contract is between 2 parties, the payer and the party delivering. If only one party is satisfying their half of the deal and the other party is neglecting their part, they should be made acountable for your losses. I wonder what would happen if you took them to court over lost earnings and won the case? Do you think they would get their 'a' into 'g' and do something about it? for years their have been alot of services neglecting their part of contracts and we the stupid public have just put up with it. this site should put up a class action for people in your shoes to take these monkeys to court. I would participate in payments as I believe its all about the principle of the matter. keep battling and keep us posted!
2 Jan 2011 07:57:31 AM: Thanx for the support, but not so much about public being stupid, but rather the big companies wearing the consumer down and counting on us not being able to sustain protracted disputes.
2 Jan 2011 01:59:15 PM: I want to start a website where we can complain about the incorrect use of "your". CONTRACTIONS and how to use them. yourfail.
Lesson 1: YOUR = possessive YOU OWN IT, not short for you are, eg. your car, your hair, your education, your ignorance......
Lesson 2: YOU'RE IS SHORT FOR..wait for it "YOU ARE", eg. you're retarded, you're a dickhead, you're the one complaining, you're lame, you're as idiotic as voidafone, you're having a whinge, get it! like "you are" having a whinge. So it's (it is) you're (you are) having a whinge.
Amazing isn't it?
Here endeth the lesson.
2 Jan 2011 02:11:18 PM: you must be a women
2 Jan 2011 04:04:54 PM: what about a lesson running network ?
2 Jan 2011 07:34:29 PM: Seems someone is making a concerted effort to take the attention away from the issues at stake:
*Vodafone sold a number that didnt work
*Vodafone either fumbled around or did nothing for 6 weeks while someones business deteriorated
*It took someone without any telecomunications experience to actually think that perhaps someone should look at the history of that number, i.e. has it ever worked?
*then, and only then did vodafone begin doing the repairs, which still took another 2 weeks.
*How is it possible vodafone couldnt even set up a temporary diversion so at least clients would get some sort of voicemail message?
*Why would you just let someones clients get a message giving the impression the fone is disconnected?
*Wouldnt it have been appropriate to waive the contract?
4 Jan 2011 10:00:54 AM: The woman at 3:59pm is either a old english teacher or a pot head for being able to correct grammer and take it so passionality

This is no longer at the top of the page
4 Jan 2011 07:30:53 PM: MIGHT IS RIGHT!!!
4 Jan 2011 09:24:01 PM: i just watched buried and i thought about something.... if ryan renyolds was with voda in that movie... he wouldve been so terribly screwed.
4 Jan 2011 09:30:18 PM: Thanx for that, BILL COLLINS
5 Jan 2011 06:35:13 PM: stab stab stab, I spit on vodafone.
6 Jan 2011 07:25:56 PM: Waited on hold for a total of 4 hours and 52 minutes today and still didn't even get to speak to an operator. First call was 2 hours and second was 2 hours and 52 minutes. Vodafone pay me compensation payments because their calls keep dropping out with full service in my area and they wont fix the tower. I have a hundred other stories like this and they all end badly. Shame on you Vodafone!!!!!!!!
6 Jan 2011 08:09:42 PM: 09:25:26 Does not pertain to above post
7 Jan 2011 08:58:08 AM: lol :D :P
7 Jan 2011 02:23:55 PM: I seriously think Vodafone should compensate you for business lost, its hard out there with the GFC and then you have a large multinational corporation making life miserable and harder for simple hardworking Australians.
7 Jan 2011 05:20:15 PM: I have had email correspondence with Vodaphone and as much as I, like everyone else, would like some resolution, I cant assume that will happen soon. I may be proved wrong. At the moment I am being told everything is fixed and to report any issues so they can get their tecs to look at it.
If I port my numbers without permission I am in breach of the (worthless) contract. (wouldnt you think a contract would protect both parties?)
At this point I think the safest thing to do is get a Telstra pre paid and have my calls diverted untill this is resolved or contracts expire (whichever comes first).
Despite their ascertion that the network is fine now, I still have droputs and innability to dial out at times. They still want me to keep logs of all my calls . I guess I need to make the time to lodge a complaint with theTIO
7 Jan 2011 08:12:12 PM: Just lodged complaint with TIO. It was so bloody easy, just clicked on the link to TIO website, filled it out in 5 mins
8 Jan 2011 10:14:15 AM: congrats. hope that solves ur issues :P :D lol
8 Jan 2011 03:30:32 PM: i think people here are coming on replying to this that actually work for vodafone! of coarse some people are happy with the service and have not had a problem but i have had plenty from wrong charges (for an iphone when my phone is free charge not $18 per month)to arrogant and stupid call centre opperators. the coverage is crap which i can handle because of infinite plan but will never sign up to vodafone again. from one of their own sales reps that my son sold a car to "vodafone are crap and thats why I have two phones one for work from voda which is free and another from telstra for when I want good service and reception!" straight from the horses mouth so to speak. one thing people haven't mentioned is why they keep playing tennis and switching you from section to section to solve a problem. just been on wait for 2 hours when the customer service said he'll put me thru straight away and i won't have to wait! must be big problems if i'm the next person in the queand still waiting 2 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
12 Jan 2011 07:31:31 PM: Was contacted by Vodafone resolutions team, my wife and I have been released from our contracts. At this point in time they are not prepared to refund us any of the money we have paid for their failed (and continuing to fail) system. Nor are they prepared to pay us any compensation.
13 Jan 2011 08:14:34 PM: Well as a long term customer service enthusiast and a advocate for individualS, the staff member has the option to resign if he believes that the company is not worth working for. SO KEEP HAMMERING THE RETAIL STAFF AND THE IDIOTS WHO CANT HELP YOU, WHEN THE PUBLIC CAN INDIRECTLY FORCE THE RESIGNATION OF STAFF AS TOO STRESSFUL THEN WE ARE MAKE STEPS FORWARD WITH LARGE CORPORATE COMPANIES. TUSHAR
15 Jan 2011 12:50:30 PM: Tushar, you are a typical bully and people like you deserve all the bad things in life!!! I hope you get it. This is not the way true Australians think or speak.
15 Jan 2011 03:55:28 PM: Agree with above except he is also a fool, his comments are not pertanant to the original post. Tusher, go back to where you came from( if they let you back in)
21 Jan 2011 11:08:01 AM: Tushar thats very un-australian
22 Jan 2011 04:01:15 PM: As the person who posted the original post, words cant convey my relief having signed up with the big T.I dont have rose tinted glasses on and I know all telcos have their pitfalls, but knowing that the network has the necessary infrastructure to cope with the demand, and the wide coverage is very reassuring.
Lets see how I go with getting compensation from these mongrels for their incompetance.

5329 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Greedy Fail at 27 Dec 2010 09:34:59 PM
Have been a VF customer (prepaid)for 7yrs, moved to post paid(contract) and have poor quality of service by means of extended wait times of each call to VF (45+mins) which is a cost to me.

specific issues:
1. Poor reception in areas that are advertised by VF as standard coverage.
further resulting in sporadic loss of signal and no network coverage.
recently had death in family and I could not reliably contact or be contacted by members of family and friends due to poor network issues, even when VF has advertised on their coverage maps that the area has standard coverage.

2. over 3 hours down time trying to contact staff at VF to resolve issues.
3. upon receiving my contracted handset, there was no documentation about the contract, I was unable to use the phone for many days even though it was reported on the box the sim was in that it was already activated. rang the TIO after spending many days trying to contact VF, it took 1week for VF to contact me.

4. Billing anomalies such as some service I have never requested.

I want to drop VF as my carrier and may do so, through due legal process as i think they have voided their contract of service to me with false advertisement on network coverage.

It is greed that fuels VF machine of industry, such a shame that the course of events such as AU government selling of tel$tra forces some citizens out of necessity (pure cost factor) to do business with Telco not australian.

Moved from optus to vodafone, BIGGEST MISTAKE EVER!!!!!!!!!! Reception is really poor. Spent way too much time on hold with these pirates and have got absolutely nowhere. They won't reply to emails and won't help at all. They reckon they need to investigate the reception in my area(ipswich, QLD) but i think they'll say it's all good and they'll dodge having to do anything. I am embarassed to say i have 2 phones and internet with them, i'm trying to get all 3 cancelled so i can go elsewhere. Hopes are low.
27 Dec 2010 09:41:40 PM: I feel your pain. They TESTED/INVESTIGATED the reception in my area, came back with "oh, we can't see any problem here. can you please go to areas half an hour away from your place, to make sure it's not your USB broadband problem?". Guess what, it WAS their network problem. Don't bother helping them with their "investigation", it will only lead to more pains. Just cancel & go somewhere else if you can.
28 Dec 2010 12:57:19 AM: I'm an Idependent ACN Representative,I understand how everyone are totally dissatisfied with the Vodafone phone, internet and customer service qualities.

5325 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Extremely Disappointing ... not what I signed up for! at 27 Dec 2010 09:34:01 PM
After moving across from the terrible customer service I'd been having from Telstra, I looked forward to the 'exceptional coverage' and great customer service promised to me by Vodafone. Couldn't be further from the truth! Between no signal 3km from the city, countless calls dropping out (and having to incur charges to call them back!), voicemail arriving days after it was first left, intermittent signal (often only 1 bar on my iphone in the middle of the city) and waiting 40 minutes on hold to call vodafone technical support and giving up. How the heck am I meant to rectify the issue if their staff are out of reach? The game's over Vodafone, how about you meet me halway and actually PROVIDE ME THE SERVICE YOU KEEP SLUGGING ME FOR EACH MONTH????

5319 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is utter failure at 27 Dec 2010 09:32:08 PM
Major trouble with lack of data reception using USB mobile broadband modem and "attempting" to access the web while being in the middle of the CBD in adelaide. Trouble started within 1 month. Had to replace modems. Problems cropped up in another one month with the new modem and took about 6 weeks of nearly daily calls to the service centre with lame and non-concrete promises with no time frames for actions (not to mention the 30 min wait time before you can talk to anyone). After much painful interaction with the junior call centre staff finally got to the managers and got the connection disconnected. Lost one months' payment; luckily did not have to pay the early termination fee. But 10 months later got a call from a third party debt collecting agency asking me to pay up the whole money due for the supposedly 2 year contract. Absolutely blood boiling and painful.

5291 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Massive fail! at 27 Dec 2010 09:23:23 PM
For the last few months I have had nothing but headaches with Vodafone..

Where do I begin?

Constant call fail.. I can be trying to make a phone call and it can take me up to 10-15 attempts to actually make a call

Phone drop outs.. Most annoying when I have been on hold to Vodafone for 45 minutes and then it drops out.. Then I have to battle Lara again..

Text messages not going through.. I can send a picture message at 3pm in the afternoon and it will get delivered at 3am the next morning.. Friends think I cant sleep!

Voicemail messages.. No missed calls then a week later I get a massive back log of voicemails messages.. Great when you boss is leaving messages on your phone and I ignore them..

The person you have called can not be reached.. my mother inlaw actually called my phone (which had full service) and it said I wasnt available!

Icing on the cake is when they put call barring on my phone and said I hadnt paid my last 2 bills.. I had paid the 2 bills and they had a glitch in the system which meant the payments didnt get put with the bill paid..

After spending at least 6 hrs on the phone to Vodafone.. They said it was my iphones problem, not them! After seeing todays story... I am not the only one.

They should be gving us credits on out bills!

Grrrr!

5282 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 09:19:32 PM
Came over to vfone from telstra. Was talked into buying a Nokia N97 over an iphone and a more expensive Nokia, that was the first problem. Little did i know at the time the N97 was and still is one of the most repaired, replaced and returned phones. It was a lemon from new. After trying to return it at Epping and South Morang vfone stores (as they said any problem with the phone within the first 3 months they would accept it back and give me a new one), they kept telling me to wait for the software update that would fix everything. This phrase became the norm for the next few months, there was an update for the phone just about every month. They only accepted it back for repair when the phone got hot and actually died, even then they tried to refuse it back because they had no loan phones. The new phone they gave me was just as much a piece of shit as the last, software glitching, freezing, turning off, taking photos on its own, etc. Now thats just the problems with customer service and the phone, now to the network. I work in Fairfield in Melbourne, close suburb to the CBD. Never did I have trouble with service there with telstra, I am lucky to have 2 or 3 bars of reception at the most at my workplace, inside or outside. I constantly have no internet access even when I have full reception on my phone, phone calls drop out and say connection error, sms will not send for no reason, and worst of all being on hold forever to find out what is going on is a joke. So I emailed a complaint, and just got handballed back to the retail stores who plain don't care either. I am so pissed for going to vodafone, I would have been better off using two tin cans and a length of string to communicate with people.

5255 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is hopeless at 27 Dec 2010 09:09:16 PM
been fighting with vodafone over same issue since august with useless handset - usual range problems (dropping out, loss of reception in my local supermarket), continued loss of important contacts (i work with vulnerable clients) refusal to replace handset, many trips to the store, a total of FOURTEEN hours on hold over 5 calls to customer "care" (haha) - including one FOUR HOUR wait on 23/12 which was not answered in the end. i was blatently lied to - promised resolution and a new handset in october. despite the dreadful, non-existent service, i continue to be billed, with promises of "refund" later. meanwhile i have been without the technology i need for 4 months now. i want my contract cancelled and my fees refunded
27 Dec 2010 09:16:34 PM: on-hold wait times with vodafone are an absolute DISGRACE. i have sat on hold listening to john mayer and rob thomas for FIVE hours and transported around different departments in sri lanka. they should be ashamed of their customer service, just disgusting.

After about 3 months of our usb internet not working properly and ringing Vodafone multiple times and them blaming it on my computer or repaires and also Vodafone replacing my USB and sim card we are still having problems cancelling our contract. I'm sick of ringing up the call centre being on hold for about 30 minutes at a time (I have a life) and then when speaking to someone they cant do crap to help me or I can't understand them. I even tried to ring the head office (in Sydney) to complain and they ended up putting me back through to India again!!! All I want to do now is cancel my contract, but they wont just do this as they have to do an investigation on why its not working (if it frigin worked then I wouldnt want to cancel it). I'm so sick of their recpetion and customer service, they dont help crap and blame it on the customer saying it's their problem. Very much over it now, going through the investigation at the moment and they will most likely turn around and say I have to pay the cancelation fee as they will say it's working like they do every other time. I have put in a complaint to TIO, so hopefully something will be done to improve their shit service!!!! Something needs to be done!!!!
27 Dec 2010 09:30:43 PM: I have had a similar frustrating experience trying to cancel my contract. Try to wait and hear Lara give you the optin for cancelling your contract - yeah right! the voice recognition systenm is useless to me anyway - all is does is pick up the noise of my kids in the background - when I spoke to someone eventually, they said to ring when my kids weren;t around - how helpful! i have been trying to cancel my account with them, but a) i am always onhold for hours b)the cancellation team isn't in and will need to ring me back c)if I stay they will give me a free phone, which only ends up being the deals offered to the ordinary public, not a special deal for me and d)they say they need to ring me back to cancel my account - that's their procedure. My procedure is: I ring you, tell you to close my account, end of story.
The website is useless and when you try to ask a question, it gives you an automated response back, after this you get an automated email. Upon responding to this, another automated email. Does anyone real, other than the 3 persons they have sitting in India, work for Vodafone???? It's a pity, I had been a customer for 13 years...

5227 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Massive FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 09:00:01 PM
I have a 24 month plan with Vodafone for both my mobile phone and internet (a USB). My phone contract is due to run out now in 4 weeks (thank goodness) but I have had on going issues with signal, service and mostly customer service. I rang Customer service on numerous occasions about my issues with coverage and a billing enquiry and was on hold for ever.

Coverage for my internet at my house is shocking, despite being told by vodafone (and showed a coverage map) that internet coverage in my area was really good. (there is also a vodafone store less than 3 kms from my house, so why are they selling internet when it doesnt work more than 3km from their shop!), Again I rang Customer Service about the issue, was on hold nearly 40 mins and then spoke to someone who barely understood a word I said and then kept trying to transfer me through to another department before even hearing the reason why I had rang. When I asked how long I had left on my contracts I got the 3rd degree and eventually told. He then insisted on transferring me through to another area which he ASSURED me could help me with my problem right now. I got transferred to a pre-recorded msg "This department is currently closed" and then I got disconnected.
So.... I went in to see someone at the shop. The girl I spoke to said "well, you only have your internet contract until January 22nd with Vodafone, so if you just put up with it until then you can change after that" This is really annoying, customers shouldnt have to 'put up with it' until the end of the contract, it should be resolved, regardless of how much is left on the contract. I have 6 months left with my mobile phone and I am NOT HAPPY!!

I am over Vodafone!!!!! I have had so many drop outs and unable to connect. More recently. I have not been received lots of messages from friends n family - various networks. Some arrived days later. Ive missed important info and had a blue with a friend for a misunderstnding re not receiving a text message. Tried ringing up almost every day in the past month - "Lara" (who I also HATE) tells me its at least a 40 - 45 min wait time! Who has that kinda time to waste???????? And IF I did get through, an overseas person answered and cant understand my accent or what I am trying to say!!

I also have been trying to get a new iphone 4 - been waiting over 2 months!
I HATE VOADFONE! If I could quit my contract without penalties I would.

We live in Nth Qld, and in the past 6 months have lived in 3 different suburbs, all of which are in the close metro area. The reception in all of these locations has been nothing short of terrible. We pay our bills on time for a service provided "apparently". My wife called them some months back to complain about the terrible service, only to be placed on hold by someone in Deli most probably. She had the tennacity to hold the line until she was answered, only to have the service that she was complaining about drop out mid conversation. My wife then called back and again after waiting the obligatory hour on hold, got cut off again mid complaint due to the terrible serice. Our problems do not end there. The phone I got with my contract died. I took it into my local vodafone outlet, only to be turned away and told to come back when they contact me with an outcome, but they didnt even take the phone off me. I may be a simple man but you cant fix a broken phone without the broken phone (so common sence would dictate). Well that was 5 months ago and since then I have grown tired of waiting, brought a cheap simple phone and had no drama, 'thanks' for the help vodafone. Rest assured if I was to forget to pay a bill on time, that they would expect me to rectify this problem ASAP, I think it only fair they do the same. It is clear from this well though out websight, that there is not a minority with the problem, it is much more widespread than anyone first though. Rest assured we will also be getting on contact with the TIO and the telicomunication ombudsman.

Have been with Vodafone for a few years, in the beginning it was ok, no problems with coverage and always able to contact staff quickly. Now unable to speak to anyone, on hold for ages, then get disconnected constantly. Have missed many urgent calls as they went straight to voicemail and no callback for 2 days. Bad coverage hardly any signal at my home. Vodafone store staff unable to help me either. So frustrating going around in circles.

I live in st kilda I had wireless broadband with 3 owned by vodacrap
the speed was terrible I cancelled with 3 after 2 ears, a vodapone sales person said that the speed would be alot faster, fantastic with vodapone. she garanteed it. I waited over a month for the modem it finally arrived the speed was crap!
I switched to optus much better.
I have spent hours waiting on hold for vodacrap to complian and stop payment.
I have also wasted time emailing them.
They have sent me a bill for this month after I told them I cancelled.
vodapone has caused me great frustration and waste of time.
they should spend money on quality service rather than pubilicty compaigns.

5197 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Supercrap at 27 Dec 2010 08:54:45 PM
Vodafone mobile broadband connection is terrible. There had been a long strings of incident since I sign up with Vodafone back in March. All involving the same problem: I couldn't access the internet even when the coverage is saying "very good". First sign of trouble was not long after I signed up in Sydney. There wasn't a connection for 3 days. Took the USB back to the shop, thinking it was a hardware problem. To cut the story short, it turned out to be Vodafone's problem, something to do with "technical problem at Vodafone network". Service went back to "normal" (= slow, but working) afterwards.

I moved to Cairns in April and took the mobile broadband with me. Most of the time the connection is slow, which turn to super slow after 5pm, even when it's on 3G/HSUPA, connection dropped off frequently.

The next incident happened some months later. Couldn't access the internet for about 3 days again. Rang customer service, there was a recorded message saying that Vodafone was having some networks problems in some parts of Australia.

The latest incident was on Nov 31st - 3rd Dec. Rang their customer service which was obviously being outsourced to call centres in India. Spoke to VERY rude Indians who kept on saying there wasn't any problem, they kept on trying to shift the blame to my computer/other things even though after some "diagnosis" it was obvious it was their problem. They insisted that I was the only one in Australia who made a complaint to them! When I demanded to speak to a manager/supervisor, one of them cockily said "I'm THE most authority, you can't speak to anyone higher than me". The cheek of it, I'm sure he doesn't own the company, he doesn't even live in Australia!

I persisted and kept on ringing them. In total I spent 2hr 51mins 27 secs on the phone with them, mostly being put on hold, before they finally gave me an "escallation reference number" to investigate my complaints. Good thing I have a spare Vodafone SIM card, otherwise I would have spent a bomb ringing them from my Optus mobile phone as I don't have a landline. Every single time I rang time, they kept me waiting for at least 20-40mins. before I could speak to a REAL person.

Afterwards I lodged a complaint through Vodafone's website, about the appalling rudeness of their customer service (what "service"?!), telling them that I'm not going to pay for a service I didn't get - why should I pay for my broadband subscription if Vodafone isn't providing what they're obligated to fulfil in a contract (= a broadband service). After some email exchanges, they agreed to waive my subscription rate for the month. It's the first time I kicked up a big fuss about it and I think I should have kicked up a big fuss at other times, too. Afterall, a contract binds not only a customer, Vodafone is also bound to deliver the service I've signed up to!!!

I'm glad I'm not "the only one in Australia" who aren't happy with Vodafone. Bring the job back to Australia, those Indians didn't even know how to treat a customer respectfully.

I have spent two hours on hold to their customer service number, i had to hang up because the phone i was on ran out of battery. I had everything i was going to say and every record i had right in front of me, but no, it never happened because no one could be bothered to pick up the phone....and they're a phone company. BIGGEST JOKE. This was after i'd been in-store. Even the guy behind the counter warned me what i was in for.

They are charging me for a phone i have not used... and the bill is growing even without use. They claim it's a time delay, but why after six days of being switched off is it still adding on costs? Shouldn't they just do it at once and be done with it? Of course not, that is the LOGICAL thing to do.They are also showing me i have an unpaid bill. i have a receipt and over a week later apparently i still owe.

Vodafone struggles to provide decent coverage....anywhere!

The picture messages i send wake my contacts in the middle of the night over 24 hours after they were originally sent. Aren't I popular the next day? Thanks Vodafone. To receive messages, i have to actually send individual messages to each contact before i get just one that could have been sent hours ago.It takes ten minutes to open a single page on my iphone due to the little "Searching" in the corner that makes me want to throw my phone at the wall.

The 24 month contract is more expensive than one for a new iphone 4... and i'm receiving less for my money. Their three months early exit offer is clearly not enough, make it three months into the contract and they've got themselves a deal.

Their "spend and entitlements" page does not update, or does so very slowly ensuring their "valued" customers have exceeded their plan and then still tell them they can text their little heart out.
All in all, what can i say...
Will i be going back? Certainly not.

Attempting to un-lock Mum's ex-vodafone 3G iphone, whose contract has expired and whose mobile number is now with a new carrier - for a $25 fee!!! This amount is being extorted from me to 'cover the cost of obtaining the un-lock code from Apple'...a blatant lie according to the helpful person from Apple tech. support who answered in un-accented English on the third ring.

Repeated attempts to enter the imei number on the vodafail un-locking website leads to prompts for contact deatils as the imei number cannot be found - with reassurances that I'll be contacted via phone or e-mail within 10 days (uproarious LOL).

Numerous calls to vodafail's call centre (and an eternity on hold) result in the same assurance - we'll contact you with the unlock code - pfffft! 3 weeks and counting.

Basically I'm left with an iphone shaped paper weight.
