Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

8451 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Service/Accounts Terrible at 29 Dec 2010 01:47:44 PM
Couple of issues with VF. First was them setting up a direct debit that I never authorised and having to pay twice for one monthly bill. Second was coverage pretty average particularly for the internet. I have a Iphone that is having problems with my email and when i rang VF they said they were aware of it bit it would not be fixed until mid jan at the earliest?? Not good enough. Also have had problems at home receiving texts at weird times of the day and night? 1 year to go on contract but will try to get out of it.

I changed over from a pre paid account to post paid and now have a Blackberry that is completely useless because i ave no access to the blackberry internet server... what a joke!! Talk about false advertising. They have sold me a service that I can not use to check my emails, use social networking or even use a map on.... basically i have a glorified touch screen fone that was described as a smart phone..... and then the hassle of getting to talk to some one who knows anything.. i've been hung up on, transferred to closed sections, and misinformed time and time again. When can some give me an answer... well, how knows, but i know this, i'm using the 30 cooling off period to send back this piece of crap and changing telco's.... enough is enough.

I bought a Iphone through vodafone, six months ago, ever since then, i have had more trouble with "No service and dropped out phone calls" than ever. I was told coverage was great, and that i would have no problems at all. I live in Bundaberg Qld, and I can sit out side or driving down the road and have no service at all. My phone worked by sending MMS messages, but now it won't send any picture messages at all. I have rang vodafone and they say to restart or reset the phone. This has not helped in anyway. I am a disgrunted customer and will never buy from them again. I pay my monthly account, even though I cannot use it to the full extent. If i wanted to play games, or listen to music, I would have bought an ipod, as the phone is useless. No way will they cancel my contract, they lose money, but i'm the one out of pocket. thumbs down for Vodafone, you've lost my respect. My dad has a heart condition, and now bundaberg is flooded and has no home phone services, i look to use my phone, and the damn thing has no service. Good On ya...

8395 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Maximum at 29 Dec 2010 12:50:54 PM
Brief story 1: I was charged $700 for international roaming where Vodafail claimed I downloaded 42 GIG of data - onto an 8gb iPhone! Took me about two solid days to fix upon my return.
Story 2: Was billed excessive use charges ($180) on an $80 capped plan without major increase in useage. Called 1555 to complain and after 30 mins on hold, connected to an Indian call centre: he offered to delete my excess useage if I switched to the new 'infinite' plan. Initially I declined as my 24 month plan ends in two months and I'm counting down the days so I can exit, so I didn't want to 're-sign'. He assured me - after me asking four times - that my contract would still end in two months. ASSURED me!!
One week later I visited a Vodafail store to check, and the f-wit HAD signed me up for another two years!!! This was voice recorded! The Sydney instore guy was helpful and had it sorted after 20 mins (after two call dropouts to the call centre!) but after three weeks, I have just got my latest bill and now my latest charge is $250 on my $80 cap!!! And I barely use my phone. Aaaarrrggghhh!!! And I won't go into the dropped calls, the poor service or any other problem. Vodafone, your service, your network and your call centres are a joke!

8377 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 29 Dec 2010 12:44:07 PM
I have two phones connected to my account. One I use and the other my 15yrs old daughter uses. She continually complains to me about her network coverage. She travels to and from school on a chartered bus service to her school. The phone is for her safety and security to contact either of her parents or other person in the event she misses the bus or is involved in after school activities where she can contact someone to pick her up. The original handset which was part of the contract practically disintegrated after 9 months and when I asked at the shop front where the contract was signed the same shop assistant pointed me in the direction of the manufacturers repair centre taking no responsibility for the poorly performing handset which they provided.
I have since purchased a new handset to replace the not paper weight provided initially.
Additionally even with the new handset when my daughter is at home the service coverage is not very strong.
I infrequently travel for business purposes and the personal and the supplied business phones are both vodafail and the coordination to meet clients has cost me time and frustration with clients.
On a separate issue I rang the call centre to access My Vodafone, as every time I have tried to log in to sort out my own problems I get incorrect user name or password. I rang to reset my password update my account balance, left a message for them to call back they said 23min. 28min later i called again and left another message for them to call me with a 45min wait time.
My second logged call was returned first after over an hour. The password was reset, asked about my balance they assured me the information had been updated. I logged in to see that the details had not been updated and that my request had been ignored. While logged in a received the first return call now over 1.5hrs after the due 23min not quiet 2hrs later. The call centre person was rude and dismissed me when i explained the situation that this return call is over 1.5hrs later than the information provided.
I sent an email to complain and was provided with a very automated please contact the manufacturer of the handset, if the handset is part of the contract then the responsibility under the contract as its their contract part of their responsibility to provide service to that contract.
They wanted to know the name and store location as a way of satisfying my compliant on their poor service performance both at the call centre and at the shop fronts, the coverage, contract serviceability and dispute resolution.

8361 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is email and reception at 29 Dec 2010 12:30:15 PM
i changed over from tpg to vodafone , i was told when i signed up that vodafone network jumps
over to other 3g networks in bad reception areas !! this is not the case !

infact if i turn 3g off i get a little better reception , i never had this problem with tpg !

Also email !! i have a optusnet account , I cannot get my emails on my phone !!!!!!

they work intermittently and work fine on wifi but not thru vodafone 3g network .

i have to try 15-20 times to get an email and it only works sporadically !!

the other solution is to go thru webmail but that defeats the purpose and usability of iphone !

note i did not have this problem with tpg i email worked flawlessly !

i tried calling and following this up with vodafone ! , they acknowledged ! there is a problem with vodafone servers communicating with optus servers !

what do i do now !

can i be released from my contract with vodaphone !

me and my friend signed up together same day ! , same deal , he sent me an email an hour a go , guess what ? no email yet !

Haisam .

8359 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is not to bad at 29 Dec 2010 12:27:04 PM
Not much really.

I have noticed however that if you are on a busy 3G cell site getting on the net on my iphone is almost impossibly slow. When compared to my sons iphone on Optus. Tho I would rather deal with Vodafone than Optus. All my friends on Optus have had major problems with billing.

Im not a Vodafone employee or related to one. Just someone who doesnt mind Vodafone.

I would like to be let out of my contract tho as I want a HTC Desire HD. ;)

I'm getting over my iPhone not supporting flash and the shorter warranty on apple gear.

8353 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Failing and failing some more at 29 Dec 2010 12:23:04 PM
Until two years ago, Vodafone was great -- immediate connection to a human, fast service and the rest. It is now a disaster. Complaining to the company doesn't work; I've done it about six times and asked for the CEO's office. No luck there. It's not the call centre employees in India's fault, it's the company and the executives of Vodafail who allow a Telco to operate this way. The billing is a mess, there is no customer service, reception is dodgy, especially data connection, and the waiting time and failure to fix problems is reason enough to not stay with Vodafail.

8324 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is dissapointing at 29 Dec 2010 11:55:17 AM
I got a new contract in July 2009 and an LG Prada phone. Vodafone then offered me a wireless internet USB with 3mths free. I later found out that the three mths were the 3rd, 8th and 13th mths of my contract, which I wasn't informed of so I rang them and they changed it to the first three mths for me. The internet worked great for a while then I moved to Perth and it dropped out every 2mins. I rang vodafone to fix this and they told me it's the house I was living in, long story short I went to a vodafone store in Perth and asked them to cancel the contract because it wasn't working and I needed internet urgently, after 2hrs of me convincing them it didn't work correctly they eventually agreed to cancel the contract and I returned the USB in ~Nov 2009.

I was also having problems with my phone at the same time, dropped calls, missed calls and calls that don't come through and sms's not getting through for days. In June 2010 I began getting other peoples voice mail messages, I rang and told them but they told me they cant see this happening "it happened". Vodafone's solution to me having dropped calls or low signal was to turn off the 3G and put onto 2G - this means that I was paying for a 3G service and only got a 2G service. I admit that the 2G was much better and I had less drop outs and I could hear the callers better. But I didn't pay for a 2G service or phone. Vodafone have tried many solutions to fix my problems like, replace the sim, replace the phone, which I did, I got an iPhone 3G.

The last straw was when I had broken the car key and was stranded, I rang my mum and she was going to bring me the spare key. I waited 30mins and thought this is taking too long for her to call me when she arrived. I rang her and she said she'd been calling me and the calls were going to message bank. I didn't move, I didn't call anyone because I was waiting for this very important call that never came. I reported this immediately to a local Crazy Johns store, who I was already talking to to get my phone service fixed.

I'd finally had enough, rang and rang and rang, and got the contract cancelled in Nov/Dec 2010, but I had to return the phone and they told me I needed to send them the iPhone - not the LG - unbelievable. I didn't, I only sent them the LG phone. I have a few problems with this, 1) I have paid for half the phone so don't I own half of it? they can't reuse it either. 2) I was told to pay $100 to cancel the contract and not send them the phone. 3) I have since been sent a bill for over $600 which I queried, they said they haven't connect the return of the phone with accounts. I wonder if I'll get another bill?

I just agreed to send them the phone to get out of this contract and have my calls come through.

I have records and details of my complaints.

8305 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 29 Dec 2010 11:36:11 AM
I have two phones on the vodafone network for the past 8 weeks. During this time I have had next to no internet access in Belconnen, Civic and Kambah. Phone calls drop out all the time. Delayed SMS. In addition to that the credits that should have been applied to both accounts ($100 on one and 1 month free plus $50 on the other) have not been honored despite 4 phone calls to customer service.

I am now trying very hard to exit these contracts. Worst phone experience ever.
29 Dec 2010 02:17:53 PM: Just got off the phone with vodafone. Both contracts cancelled. Just have to return the phones. No exit fees. Very happy now.

8300 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Horrible! at 29 Dec 2010 11:33:43 AM
- I originally wanted to renew my contract with 3 and was told that 3 and vodafone were merging so I may as well join vodafone now... I told the man serving me that I did not want an iPhone so he sold me a phone that was meant to be "easy and simple to use" - I took his word for it, when I got home it was samsung's version of an iPhone!
- Had a billing error at first so thought I would go into the shop as opposed to dealing with someone on the phone. Waited behind a couple who were getting an iPhone who were clearly friends with the girl who was working behind the counter... speaking in another language to each other, she left me standing there for 20 mins before breaking conversation to say to me "Im going to be awhile, what did you want?" (In a bothered tone), her solution was to thrust the phone in my direction to "call the help centre" - hard when you don't have reception to call or stay connected
- Living in a unit, my mobile is my only source of a phone... and I cannot get reception anywhere at home unless I'm pretty much laying horizontally in a certain spot on the balcony... move even a cm and the call drops out; try and send a message and it will pick and choose when it wants to send.
- Forget about getting onto the internet... when you do it constantly says, "request timeout" or is extremely slow!
- Will have full reception on the screen, go to make a call and won't connect - look back at the phone and I have no reception. I didn't even move!!!

8260 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Please correct last entry to: EXTREME VODAFAIL at 29 Dec 2010 10:49:25 AM
Mobile Broadband: I was with crazy John for mobile broadband.. had no problem till they joined with Vodafone and convinced me to go on a plan with Vodafail! since then i been having constant connection and billing problem.I once got a bill of over $ 400 for some huge figure of data usage on my laptop!! even the employees at Crazy John's (who by now have become friends due to the repeated visits to have my unending problems fixed) were surprised that a regular user who never exceeded 3GB/month for months could have used that amount in 3 days.. and that was when i didn't even have my laptop and was in the Pilbara!! This bill was finally waived after a lot of haggling.
THEN, i bought an AppleMac and got no connection. They sent me to Apple Store 3 times and every time the Genius Bar told me the problem was not my laptop but their modem. I finally proved to them that their modem was incompatible with my Mac and they waived the cancellation fees and canceled my contract. BUT i was NOT REFUNDED for all the payments i made over 6 months and did not get any service or internet access!! Not only that! After the cancellation i got a bill for $78! after several over 1-hour long arguments on the phone I was told not to pay the bill and that they will cancel it!!
I am now with Virgin Broadband with a $49 usb modem and $19/month and NO PLAN.

MOBILE PHONE: I keep having bad connection, getting wrong bill and over-billed and getting them cancelled after having to put up with LARA and her boring and dull messages and spending hard earned dollars to wait while they tell me i have moved up the line. I must have spent 24 hours or more in total being put on hold or talking and trying to explain my problem to operators.
Another example of typical Vodafail: I had suspended my service for 8 weeks last October and got monthly bills for over $140 for the same period! After the long "please hold" etc i proved by giving the time and name of the person who suspended the service, then they said i don't have to pay the bill! Another bill was for a horrendous amount because i was "supposedly" using live something which i didn't even know what it was let alone use it!! Again after long hours (and dollars) of haggling they waived the sum!!
It used to be one of the best service providers. I have been having similar problems with my line and broadband in Egypt as well. I will definitely cancel all my Vodafone connections phone and broadband both in Egypt and in Australia and will pass the word around to my friends who seem to also be having problems.
Let's do it! let's get a class action against them and ask for compensation for all the time we wasted on the phone instead of being productive and earning some good money and all the stress and frustration they have caused us.

8256 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Off the fail scale at 29 Dec 2010 10:46:09 AM
The amount of broadband dropouts I've had to restore data from are countless. Simple updates interrupted by the haphazard signal carrier change massively increase my overpriced limit usage. From 3G to HSUPA to HSDPA to the dreaded signal destroying GPRS. The redundant and endless stream of DUNS error codes that are simply wrong due to lag. A broken customer account login page to the completely hopeless website that is as helpful as aspirin to a migraine.
To the fact that I dc'd 3 times writing this.
Vodafail indeed.

I've suffered the same problem as most of you. The very poor to absolutely no internet coverage and when you do finally connect it drops out repeatedly!! A useless service I've had to continue paying for over the last 24 months as you cannot exit the contracts. Same goes for the mobile phone account... no coverage, calls dropping out, delayed or totally missed texts and voice messages. So frustrating!! I JUST WANT OUT!!!!!

I have wireless internet at home with Vodafone Pocket wifi. I'm in Griffith. So far no major probs except for some pages really slow to load-my Telstra iphone loads faster but is more expensive so don't want to use at home.
My one major issue was with inadequate customer service refusing to tell me MY WIFI key needed for when some one else here needed to access internet. I'd given customer service all other details...serial number/account detail/sim card number/mob number of modem/name etc....what's with all the secrecy?!!

Customer support guy could not understand what we wanted to do and it took ages- him telling us to do useless things and he kept calling the WIFI key by another name so we didn't actually know that's what he was talking about-useless.......and there was no internet access at all because initially wrong number was put in so it disconnected my wireless...eventually after giving up/hanging up I found the tiny sticker with the WIFI key number on it....

8221 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is mega fail at 29 Dec 2010 10:05:02 AM
I signed up for a whiz bang offer in 2001. I ended up with a phone that was so big it wouldn't fit in my pocket (motorola a series). The problems began the moment I walked out the door. The battery would last just 4 hours in standby. I'd carry two batteries with me just to last the day. Support said that it was normal! Bullshit!

The network coverage was worse than telstra by a country mile. I couldn't make calls indoors from an office in balwyn, just a few km from the cbd! Hopeless.

The phone from hell would not be repaired. The customer service was non existent. So I stopped paying the bill and whenever they rang me with demands for payment, I told them payment would be made immediately if they give me a replacement handset.

I think you know how this ends. Bill goes to debt collectors. I tell them to suck it. Account holder get nasty annotation in credit file. I complain. They get written off.

Anyway, about a year ago we moved up to the nsw border and my wife was with voda despite my dramas earlier (they never listen). No signal in the town. Not even 2g. Nothing.

So sometimes we'd get one bar from the next town. One fleeting bar of signal. But most of the time the phone just sat searching and chewing through battery.

Needless to say they expected us to pay out the contract. Yeah right. So I threaten to call the tio. Of course we'll let you leave early, they say.

Worst telco in the country. Don't use.

8217 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No service in Kyneton North at 29 Dec 2010 09:59:44 AM
We shopped around before we finally went with Vodafone. We were told that we have service in our area.

We don't have service in our area and as I travel in my job I have seen that the service is very patchy.

Their bills are always late and/or problematic. I rung them twice. On the first occasion I was on hold for 45m. On the second occasion, where they were claiming I hadn't paid my bill (they had drawn from my bank account almost 3 weeks before), I was on hold for 81m.

I'll give them 1 or 2 months to fix all the issues. If not fixed by then I will demand a release from the contract - I will take it to the ombudsman.

8208 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Customer Service and Reception. at 29 Dec 2010 09:50:28 AM
To Whom it May Concern:

I have just got off the phone after WAITING well over an HOUR for my concerns to be heard, only to have the women on the other end of the phone tell me that "I have to ring back between 8am and 8pm" to talk to someone who can help.

To say I am disgusted and disappointed is an understatement. Considering this ladies voice comes on every 5minutes saying "sorry for the delay we will be with you shortly". Please explain to me how WAITING over an hour is being with me shortly?

All I am trying to do is CANCEL my Vodafone account when my contract runs out on the 29th of December 2010.

I have been with Vodafone for quiet some time now, but that will end on the 29th of December 2010.

I will be going through a different company where the Customer comes FIRST!!!

Regards,
A Disappointed Customer

PS I have also rung Vodafone on another occasion only to be hung up on. I do not understand how they have any customers left.

I have had an account with this company for over ten years with no plan, I elected to go onto a plan due to the fact I also required another two phones for family, I also wanted one bill. this process took me one hour at a retail shop, 6 months later still have not done what I asked, I have pushed arround from department to another put on hold, dropped out calls they do not return calls. I have an expectation of customer service there is none. Sell a contract next move on, they can not get the contract right. I said I would take my buinses elsewhere, they said they would take legal action against me and they also said they will ensure my credit history will be effected. I'm happy to be apart of any class action.

When did I log that last comment? I am still on the phone with Vodafone. I have passed to second person and on hold again. Has he gone on his lunch break? I am attempting to negotiate some amalgamation of the two accounts. One has 6 months to go, the other 12 months. Do I cut my losses, pay the (I am now told $299+ $272) exit fees? Oh he's back. Every time I say cancel both contracts, I get another "Did you read the contract?" spiel. I explain the concept of unfair contracts and the classd action lawsuit. Now a router is on offer. OK m I ask for some extra gigs for the rest of this month. Back with the hold music whil he goes to eat his toast. This is just the old car saleman technique to wear you down "Must go ask the manager yada yada yada". (I have hit limit again :() Man, it's like getting ood from a stone.

8193 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Awful Customer Service at 29 Dec 2010 09:37:13 AM
Called customer service to upgrade my mobile 3 days in a row. Was placed on hold for over 30mins on every call (i gave up on all the calls as i had better things to do). I have never managed to speak to a real customer service person. Changed service provider in the end. That's when i discovered how bad Vodafone service really was. Vodafone does not email your pdf bills to you. You have to log onto the website to download your bills. When you cancel your account, they will immediately stop you from downloading all your bills... even though they keep sending you email notices to pay them. I require my old bills to claim from my company. Vodafone wants to charge me $5.50 per pdf invoice if they were to email me the invoices (invoices that were never emailed to me previously). I always thought it was basic customer support to email the invoice as it also serves as a receipt for previous months payment. This is the worse service provider i have ever dealt with.

I connected a 2nd business phone to my account 4 weeks ago, and to date can not still send or receive sms to this phone and number, despite numerous calls to their data team ( may I add 2 hours in waiting time) the problem has not been resolved, know how are you supposed to conduct business with this sort of debargle. Let alone the fact my phone gets full reception at my place but my mobile broadband only gets 1 bar and consistently drops out. And to top this off traveling by train on Sydney's Lower North Shore to the city I experience 6 complete signal loses, yes thats right in the heart of Sydney reception is just not there, arnt we living in the 21st century and doesn't vodafail claim to reach 98% of the population????

Could it get worse???? I have just tried to login to MYVODAFONE on their website. Firstly it wouldn't take my password...so I clicked onto "forgot my password". It then asked for my mother's maiden name. IT REJECTED IT!!! I then did the same with my partners account and it has done exactly the same thing. Looks like there are problems with Vodafone across the board!

8147 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Amounts to criminal thievery, knowingly selling vapour services. at 29 Dec 2010 09:00:02 AM
I have 2 vodafone accounts, both Mobile braodband. I live in City Melbourne on St Kilda Rd where there is no excuse. Constantly plagued for nearly 2 years with constant drop outs, malfunctions of the broadband connectivity, slow transmission. This means many periods of lost produictivity and paying for a service that is not provided. When trying to resolve problems on the phone being passed from technician to technician repeating the same steps, often 2-4 hours in one day. THey tried to tell me there was no problem, so I took my laptop into a Vodifione store on Elizabeth and called from there: each page tool 60 seconds or more to open and then froze. On billing issues I am never able to get through. Last week I tried and was told the wait was 45 minutes. This morning I got through, had a 10 minute conversation, was again put onhold, and it is now another 30 minutes I am suitting listening to Vodafone hold music.
The excess usage fees are pure usury: a $49 plan I was billed $587 this month. I am, near end of contract and they still want $250 exit fees.

8127 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Little reception in house only 20km from CBD Melbourne at 29 Dec 2010 08:49:05 AM
We live in a new estate in western melbourne but the area has been established for well on 5 years now. We struggle to get any reception in our house full stop let alone any 3g reception and have constant delays on SMS, calls and voicemails. I have been a Vodafone customer for over 5 years now and this is by far the worst experience I have ever had with them. My phone is almost unusable at home which defeats the whole purpose of having one.
To make matters worse...I have been over billed the last two months for a mobile payment plan. When I called Vodafone about this, the said I must have signed up for that.....r u serious, I have been on this contract for over 12 months now and this plan only came about when there was a billing system change.
I will give them 1 more month to fix it otherwise I am off to TIO....

8097 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Mobile broadband coverage at 29 Dec 2010 08:33:41 AM
Man- have I been waiting a long tiem for a site like this!!
Vodafone are an embarrassment to telco's worldwide. Where shall i start with my "issues"......
Complaint 1: I was transferred to Vodafone for my mobile broadband coverage, after they bought out the '3' network. I was sent a Vodafone modem, and asked to return the 3 modem, which I did. Every month for 6 months now, I have been getting charged $99 on my bill for not returning the 3 modem, that Vodafone have admmitted they have recieved and 'lost'. Even supplying the Aust Post reciept number and date of sending was worthless. They have sent me an extra THREE (count em) pre-paid envelopes to return the modem I have already returned, and I tell them this every month without success. Every month I complain, every month they apologise, and promise to fix it. Now I am getting nasty 'overdue- pay now' emails for the modem I have already returned. i have cancelled my direct deposit for VF bills, as I actually missed a house payment, when VF took the $99 from my account, for the fourth month running. This is serious s**t, and has the potential for me to lose my house, or- at the very least- affect my perfect credit rating.
Complaint 2: No mobile broadband coverage in my house!! I have complained numerous times, only to be told 1) I am in a bad coverage area, and there's nothing they can do, 2) It's a 'software issues', and will soon be fixed (HA!), or 3) I must have installed illegal software on my computer, which is corrupting it. Excuse me??. My coverage rangers from 'poor' to 'very poor'. I no longer use the internet at home, as it is worse than a slow dialup connection. i am paying for a service that is unuseable.
Complaint no 3: When Vodafone took over 3 mobile, they assured me my contract with 3 will be honored, and will expire in Feb 2011 (as my 3 one was going to). During my last session with Vodafone Customer Service (an oxymoron if I've ever heard one), I was politely informed that what I was told the first time wasnt true, and my contract had been extended by two years, from the date of VF taking over 3. This happened without my permission or knowledge. I told the Indian call centre (who are nice people...but totally f***ing useless at resolving complaints) that it would be a cold day in hell before I stayed with VF after Feb 2011.
I urge everyone to log onto Piper Alderman's site, and show these big telco's that they cant get away with this sort of behaviour.

I was over billed for 2 months in a row, only to hear the second time I rang (after waiting for over 40minutes) that my mobile broadband had all of a sudden changed from 500MB to 250MB. Whilst on the phone trying to get the sales rep (the manager might I add) to see sense, he changed the terms on my online bill.. asshole
I was then hung up on.

8078 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very poor at 29 Dec 2010 08:20:27 AM
I've been with Vodafone for years. Never had a problem using an old school phone up to about 2007, then upgraded thru work to a BlackBerry. Intermittent issues commenced then. Work account was moved across to Optus earlier this year, so I went back to Vodafone for personal use as I can only get thru to my brother who lives overseas via Vodafone. From day 1 with an HTC Legend I noticed huge delays in data download and, when in the US for 4 weeks in September/October, noted an almost constant inability to detect Wi-Fi. No noticeable improvement when I got home but thought this was the phone, rather than the network. So I called Vodafone and, after waiting on hold for 56 minutes, finally got thru to someone - yes they were in India, but he was very nice and very helpful. With hindsight, they obviously knew of the issue by then because he was very specific in asking me if I believed my complaint was with the handset or the network. At that point I still thought it was just the phone, based on stuff I'd read online about the HTC Legend. So I got my iPhone4 and could hardly believe it when I realised that the situation was even worse! It functions slightly better if I turn 3G off, but that's kinda defeating the purpose with an iPhone and the improvement isn't all that significant anyway. All of this in the knowledge that I'm paying an extra $32 a month on my contract for the so-called 'upgrade'. So after their CIO announced in the press some weeks back that there were indeed issues and that the company should've acknowledged them sooner, I sent them an email asking why I should have to continue paying the additional fee on my monthly contract when the problem was clearly with their network / coverage all along and was probably little or nothing to do with my handset. The reply I received? A copy-and-paste reference to how I can upgrade my contract. Top marks to Vodafone for correctly interpreting a reasonably simple email question...not! I understand they're probably getting smashed by this issue; I also understand that Telcos worldwide are struggling (to some extent) under the weight of massively increased Smartphone uptake over the last 18-24 months. In the end, as the consumer, that isn't my problem. To my mind it's a fairly basic equation in a fee-for-service industry: provide full service = charge full fee; provide partial / intermittent service = charge partial fee. It's that simple!

8028 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Big Con at 29 Dec 2010 07:24:46 AM
I live in Youngtown a suburb of Launceston the second largest city in the state and regularly coverage for my I-Phone drops out. All my other services are with Telstra (broadband, wife's mobile, landline & fax) and I wished I hadn't signed up to Vodafone for a two year contract in Jan'10. Definitely will not be re-newing at contract end. Reception in CBD Melbourne & Sydney is fantastic but as soon as you go regional areas the signal is crap & prone to disappear. I was conned on the quality of the reception in an around Launceston when I signed up. I can be within 2km of Launceston CBD and have no signal. About a month after I signed up their customer service rang me to get feedback & I gave them a blast. The caller immediately implemented a $10 monthly credit to my account. Surely this is an admission of problems on their end. The constant delays (sometimes days) in receiving SMS & Voicemail is a shocking state of affairs as the mobile is my main point of contact for communication with my clients. If I could get out my contract now without being penalised I would do so it in a flash.

I ordered an iPhone on line and received TWO iPhones. Of course I was billed for both! It took 4 phone calls just to reach some call center in India and the woman had NO IDEA what she was talking about. Then I made further calls after being on hold for 30 minutes most times, and finally got someone to acknowledge a problem. They first asked ME why I received two phones!!!!!!!!! They assured me that they will cancel the second phone and I returned it. Then after one further month I received a bill for BOTH again!! More phone calls and more waiting. Now I am assured that I will be billed for the correct amount. Let's see. I want out of this contract.

Assumption after assumption, you people need to get your facts straight before you just start making claims of what your problem is and why!

No 3 and Voda aren't using the same network it's not as simple as just flicking a switch, if you are having 3 problems then it has nothing to do with the voda problems

Yes transact use vodafone, but that doesn't mean that vodafone dictate your billing, if your having transact billing problems, speak to transact, you dont go to telstra if you are having optus problem just cause they lease their lines.

No you cant just leave your contracts, even if its not working, no matter how long it takes, you have to speak to customer care, says Graeme Samuels Chairman of the ACCC (WA today 17th dec 2010)

The Australian Approved Standard for the failure rate of electronic products and services is 3%-5%, what is represented here is about 0.25% of there customer base.

29 Dec 2010 07:36:52 AM: You can't leave your contract. But if hundreds and thousands stopped making payments, I wonder what Vodafone would do about that.
29 Dec 2010 07:42:30 AM: you'll wreck your credit file, and Vodafone won't have done anything wrong, a contract is a contract! you still need to follow the ACCC recommendations no matter how shit it seems!
29 Dec 2010 08:29:36 AM: .........."what is represented here is about 0.25 percent of there [sic] customer base"..............but that representation is growing all the time...........

I have 3 services with Vodafail. All 3 suffer delayed retrieval of sms, patchy reception depending where you are travelling and un-reliable internet/data access.
I also had to chase Vodafone to actually obtain my cap bonuses that should have been applied upon the activation of te account. I am still chasing my bonus credit from the purchase of an eligible Android phone that should have been given to me on my 3rd bill. I am now approaching my 5th bill with no credit bonus.
Being placed on hold for up to 50 minutes at a time to talk to a service consultant and then to be passed on from one department to another.
Not good enough.

Vodaphone sent me a Dongle for wireless internet. I've already got internet through 3 mobile. They've sent me 4 bills averaging between $20 and $130 and I've never even opened the box and activated it. I've since sent the package back and to my suprise...another bill. How many times do i have to tell Customer Service that I have never had an internet account with them and never will. I never with any other company been put on hold for over 45 minutes 5 times in a row. Vodaphone s*ck and i'd never use them, I've also told my friends of my experience and they will never use them now either.

7993 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is watching at 29 Dec 2010 06:51:55 AM
If people pay their Vodafone contracts monthly, for a deal that is not fit for service, then they should open an account with another service provider and refuse to go on paying on their unconscionable Vodafone contracts (except for the bit that covers the hardware, if any).

There is safety in numbers, if a few tens of thousands of Vodafone subscribers did this.

If Vodafone pursues all their defaulting customers then they would choke any small debts tribunal for years to come and get ongoing bad publicity.

I have a Pocketwifi device using the Vodaphone mobile Internet service.
Using the device in the northern suburbs of Sydney is almost totally incapable of accessing the Internet. This morning I spent 90 minutes attempting to send an email and access thiss website to vent my anger. I gave up and connected to the internet with my girlfriend's mobile Internet which is provided by another telco.

My diagnosis showed that Internet access was not possible when the Pocketwifi connected to the 3G network, but a slow connection was possible when connecting to the "H" network. I spent 90 minutes recycling the power to the Pocketwifi, moving it around the house to a better location, watching it connect then disconnect, switch networks and so on, but was still unable to send my email.

I am now considering a request to cancel my account. The service is totally useless.

Pretty much the same as everyone else...have been living in this area for 16 months. At first when I moved here, I could text and occasionally receive or make phone calls (depending where i was in the house).
Eventually as the months passed the signal got worse and now I have problems not only calling and receiving calls, but even texting and receiving texts.
I phoned vodafone regarding the problem however nothing could be done. A sales consultant from Vodafone phoned me to update my plan but got impatient when the signal kept dropping out!!!. In April of this year, fed up and disgruntled, I stopped paying my account, only to receive a creditors letter in October (so I've resumed my account payments again!)Again another Vodafone representative phoned me regarding this and had to call me back on my landline because of the poor signal!!!!!
This past 16 mths has been nothing short of absolute frustration. I have had a partner who has lived overseas and interstate and trying to stay in touch with her via my mobile has been, well, difficult to say the least. I had much better success in NZ with my mobile then I did with my own network provider!
I am very grateful for this site and wish the class action all the success in the world. I will be joining it!!!

My problem is with monthly charges for some unsolicited Trivia Game from March to November 10 which I did not activate. I have been charged $10 per week every week for "trivia quiz". I have never taken up the quiz. I always check monthly account but over period I was unable to access account online. Discovered charges in November. Requests to Vodafone for info on how they could pass on these charges met with shock and incredulity from somone overseas who insisted I must have activated the quiz. I was given Vodafone complaint contact address. Email sent detailing complaint. No response. I repeatedly followed up using Vodafone "instructions". After 3 days Vodafone emailled me to say as I had not responded to their email the complaint had been "satisfactorily resolved"! Mark

29 Dec 2010 07:50:44 AM:

if your using a 365day recharge that would make perfect sense, after your credit expires approx 3-4 weeks after that your sim expires as you have had an entire year of credit expiry, what ever credit you have left will roll over if you use another 365 day.

This article from the UK shows how seriously Vodafone treats unauthorised social networking posts. Unauthorised posts from employees are apparently a "serious breach" and will result in "suspension of employees". Check out the following abstract and weblink;

Vodafone was forced to release a stream of apologies, replying to each user individually to say "we weren't hacked. A severe breach of rules by staff in our building, dealing with that internally. We're very sorry". By the evening the company had been forced to release that message to hundreds of individual followers.
"An individual posted an obscene remark on the Vodafone UK Twitter account," said a spokesman for the company. "The individual has been suspended pending further notice."
The "tweet" is understood to have emanated from Vodafone's customer service centre in Stoke, where its web team uses social networking sites such as Twitter to keep in contact with users.

I have sat on customer service for hours and hours as well, but then decided that I would contact the TIO requesting with Vodafone that I wanted out of my contract. They called me and said they'd credit my account for $79 (my monthly cap) and, exasperated, I decided to agree since my contract is done in March. I then saw all the media coverage on the reception - I hadn't even thought of complaining! I had just chalked it up to it "being Vodafone". But Vodafone refuses to let me out of my contract. Come on March!!!
28 Dec 2010 11:50:52 PM: Raise it back with the TIO, explain your situation, the TIO will then contact Vodfone again and they have 10 days to respond.

I told them to go to hell and they said I was still under contract and would have to pay. Excuse me but if I was not getting a service I will not pay. My bill now is over $4000 dollars and my credit rating well is not worth writing about Debt collectors harrassed me but I told them it would be like getting blood out of a stone. 7820 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is incorrect billing at 28 Dec 2010 09:44:09 PM
It's sorted out now, thanks to myself. I was incorrectly billed $94.08 as an early extension fee on a contract. Turned out it should not have been included (especially since it wasn't mentioned when I agreed to it). I spoke to Vodaphone about this and they said they would call me back about it...they didn't, and a couple of weeks later my next bill came in. I then rang them about it three times today as firstly it dropped out, then i was on hold forever as it didn't explain how i could utilise the automated callback option.

7776 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Not Happy at 28 Dec 2010 09:13:40 PM
I had been a Vodafone pre-paid customer up until 4 months ago, when I decided to go on a contract with them for the new iPhone.
Up until recently, I always valued Vodafone as my provider. However in the process of changing over to contract I was confronted with the worst customer service I have ever recieved from any place I have ever been. I was promised delivery in 2 weeks, and after 4 weeks it still hadnt arrived. Each time I called (after 1 hour in a queue) I got the response that 'I would recieve mine in the next batch that was to come in stock.. I ended up asking to speak to a manger which in turn got my phone delievered within 2 days and also had a credit applied to my account for the delay.
Since being on contract, I have had poor reception in places where I used to have full reception, my voicemail messages are always delayed, and the internet connection is extremely slow.

Vodafone have excellent deals and all my friends and family are with them, so we take advantage of the free Vodafone to Vodafone talk. however if it was not for that, I would definitely have changed providers.

I expect to recieve what I pay for!

People try to phone or sms my mobile...but I never receive them...soooo sick of all the excuses..When my direct debit did not go through, I was very rudely told that it was my own fault..even though they admitted their accounting system had dropped my direct debit out.

7742 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is offering false incentives to drum up business at 28 Dec 2010 08:48:51 PM
I signed up for a 2 year contract with Vodafail around August / September. Come October I receive my bill by email with a banner at the bottom claiming that if I add a 2nd mobile to my account I will get 2 months free access.

As my partner was in need of a new phone I signed up for the 2 months free access deal.

The November bill arrived - containing charges for BOTH plans. I figured paying for the 1st months access then getting the next 2 free was reasonable. So I paid that one.

Then the December bill arrives..... ANOTHER charge for the "free" access mobile.

It was time to call "customer support" (which I usually try to avoid doing as the whole LARA process makes me angry... But that's another complaint all together.) After leaving my number and receiving a call back about an hour later (so much for their 16 to 25 minutes) I explained to the lady on the other end about the deal and the bills. She put me on hold for another 20 minutes only to come back and tell me that the deal does not exist.

I brought her attention to the emailed bill I have received direct from Vodafail offering this deal and offered to forward it to her. I was put on hold for another 35 minutes...

When she came back she told me that yes, it does exist and that (apparently) my next 2 bills will be credited - but I still have to pay the access for this month's bill.

Let's see when / if this credit will appear. If it doesn't appear on my next bill I will be contacting the TIO.

28 Dec 2010 08:47:37 PM: And don't get me started on the drop outs, non-contacatbility of either of these mobiles, the hours spent waiting for sms's to come through, the longer times pent waiting for MMS to come through, the phone not ringing or showing any missed calls but miraculously coming up with voicemail messages, the slow to non-existant internet coverage or the ineptitude of the customer support employees I've dealt with so far...
I work right in the heart of Canberra's CBD - smack in the middle of it - and I'm lucky if I can get a constant 2 bars of service or a webpage to load.

A year later we have never seen the two months free service. You ring up ask about it and they say ohh that will be next month. Don't believe anything they say - don't believe any big business.

7718 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Irritatingly unreliable at 28 Dec 2010 08:33:46 PM
I have a Vodafone USB "broadband" modem. Service was generally ok up to about September 2010. From then, frequent dropouts began to occur. It became totally unacceptable by December. Dropouts resulted in internet bank transactions failing - you are uncertain if the transaction was valid or not. Dropouts caused my internet bank account to be locked out as I attempted to login while there were dropouts (unknown to me until I checked my ping log). I also use my ISP access to talk over Skype and to assist computer users via remote control. This became completely impossible in December due to the frequent dropouts which lasted anywhere from 10 seconds to 10 minutes.

7708 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is EXTREME!!! at 28 Dec 2010 08:28:06 PM
After I switched to vodafone on the 2nd June 2010 I have experienced nothing but trouble. My family and I were going back to WA for a holiday, so I was suppose to be entering into a contract where i would receive good coverage. They told me it would be 98% everywhere, what a joke. The phone dropped in and out, messages were being received anywhere from 1-5 hours later, not to mention the next day. Phone calls were missed, unable to be made or I would have to try again later as my service just dropped in and out. All this for $69 a month, I honestly thought this could be fixed. How wrong could I have been. It has been such a joke really, they have asked me to remove my sim card and try it in another Vodafone on numerous occasions, told me it was the iphone, told me any thing, but it would always come back to being my fault. They would tell me they would have a Tech Support Officer call me, when, in 2015. The amount of phone calls that i have made since taking this contract is ridiculous. The straw that broke the camels back was the beginning of April this year when my 15yr son broke his ankle at school at 10am. After the school had been trying to contact me for hours, I finally recieved the first message 5 hours after the incident, REALLY GLAD IT WASN'T LIFE THREATENING!!! My argument since has been, what if something worse had happened to one of my children or husband, now I really do know that I am only a number to this company. Vodafone still did NOTHING about the problems after this "No Service". Phone continually comes up with "Service Lost - Vodafone no longer your provider" this is something I seemed to have got use to,WRONG.. I rang Vodafone on the 22nd Dec 2010 and was on the phone for over 2hrs, lucky I rang from my land line or it would have been a waste of time (mobile would have dropped out). The Tech Support guy gave me a case ID and told me he would call back on the 24th Dec 2010. During this time, I was to once again record all details of phone calls made and received as well as texting. If I still experienced the same problems when he called back, then they would waive my contract and my next bill. Remember $69 a month since June 2009, and my payout figure is now $372.
Vodafone did text me on the 24 Dec 2010, but I could not call the 1555 number as funny, I didn't have service, why send you this ridiculous number when you can only call it from your Vodaphone account, well you can only do this if you have service right!! Christmas Day no service, Boxing Day no service, 27th no service 28th today guess what Service has done nothing but drop in and out still can't do a dam thing. Have just got of the phone from Tech Support and after 18months of this am now finally getting somewhere. They will now wave my next bill and my payout figure, but I had to return my Iphone after 18 months of paying $69 a month for a service that very very rarely worked.
When i refused and told them that i would take it further (courts), they relented and came back to me and told me I could now keep the iphone and that they will cancel the contract and waive all bills.
No, I'm not holding my breathe just yet, we will wait and see if Vodafone will keep their word. I will, in the mean time keep my phone and find myself another provider.

7677 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Vodafail at 28 Dec 2010 08:12:52 PM
I have been wrongly billed by Vodafone. I paid my last months bill on time at the post office. This month I received a new bill from Vodafone with overdue fees of 20$ whacked on top of a 29$ cap contract, asking me to pay the allegedly unpaid bill again. I have tried to contact Vodafone to sort this out, but they make me wait on hold and never pick up the phone. I also emailed this problem to Vodafone, so far it has been four days and no reply. The longest I have had the patience to wait on hold on 1555 is about 45 minutes, then I hang up. This happened a couple of times. The number 1555 is supposed to be for free for Vodafone customers, yet my bill showed 60$ fee for these calls altogether. In addition, I was told by three Vodafone agents that my phone will work in Ireland, but when I arrived there, it did not work. I complained about this to Vodafone, and the reply I got was: "You were advised by our agent, that your phone would not work in Ireland". This was a blatant lie, but I did not pursue the matter. Vodafone is a handful. Thanks for listening!

7662 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Dropped Out at 28 Dec 2010 08:06:39 PM
Both my partener and my own phones keep dropping out unexpectedly and the reception is marginal at best, regularly. I have phoned vodafone regarding theses issues and have not recieved a response as I was totally frustrated with the wait time for a response.
Considering I have been a Vodafone customer for in excess of 10 years, there infrastructure has not kept a breast of growth or technalogical advancement.
Anyone can sponsor a team from formula 1 to cricket, surely sponsorship is based on the results achieved not promised! Should one of these teams let vodafone down I'm sure Vodafone would "pull" sponsorship! Likewise applies here I will be "pulling" my support of Vodafone ie close my account based on there performance.

7660 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is customer service at 28 Dec 2010 08:03:44 PM
After their last change in billing system, my account was being sent with incorrect details. It took me 18 months to try and resolve this issue. They kept saying that the next bill would be correct, but no it wasn't. They have the poorest customer service that I have ever seen in a Telco company. I also have problems with me phone dropping out, was only 200 metres away from the tower and my phone took a total of 15mins to download a 256kb program...

7656 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is TOTAL FAILURE at 28 Dec 2010 07:59:44 PM
I used to have full service at work and home. I now have 1 bar service (no 3g) in the CBD, and i have either no service or 1 bar, living 15mins out of the city..

I have spent probably close to 6 hours on the phone (on hold) to Vodafone in the last few weeks.
Even after the Vodafone guy came out and admitted to the network issues, the tech support
people continued to tell me there is no network issue, and it is my phone.
I then read out the press release to the CSO who then hung up on me!

*On Sunday a friend sent me a picture message around 12 midday. I received it today at 8am*

I currently have a case in with the TIO (who have passed the 10 day deadline), and i doubt i will get the resolution i require... out of my contract with no cost. I do want to keep my iphone4... if i DO need to send it back, fine, but i dunno what good a used phone will do for them....

Also, I have been with Vodafone for about 10 years now, and in the past never had many problems with them other than some stupid billing ones, but since the merger, i cannot believe how fast their decline has been.

7643 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very fail. at 28 Dec 2010 07:53:44 PM
I have Vodafone Prepaid Mobile Broadband, and the reception is terrible. I live near the shops in my city, so you would think that i would get good reception, but only get 1 bar of 3G on a bright sunny day. Yes thats a good speed for me, but most days it drops out, takes ages to find reception, and whenever it rains, the 3G slows down to GPRS, therefore i have dial-up speeds. Very unreliable. Late november, i had between 1 Gig to 1.5 Gigs of Data left in my account before expiry and it was taken off me for no reason, i know i couldn't have used 1.5 Gigs in less than 5 days. Disappointed with Vodafone, as i have been a customer for almost 2 years, i will be going with Optus or Telstra (despite the hefty prices) when my next lot of credit runs out.

7625 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Very disappointed at 28 Dec 2010 07:44:34 PM
My husband and I signed up with vodafone about six months ago. About three months into our contract, we started having email problems. Our email account was with telstra yet out phone account for the mobiles were with vodafone. No one could or would assist us in resolving out 'cannot send your email, a copy has been placed in your outbox' issue. We then had issues with our voicemails not being received for some 24 hours. Most recent issue, about 3 days ago relates to text msgs. Msgs I send may not turn up for several hours, days or just not at all. Very frustrating considering we are on a two year contract. We WILL NOT be staying or recommending vodafone to anyone.

7614 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is with everything at 28 Dec 2010 07:38:30 PM
I have 3 phones on my account and all of them have had the same problems. Drop outs, delays in receiving msgs, connection errors, people not being able to get me in city areas and they blamed it on the phones. We had all phones sent back and nothing could be found wrong with them, except blackbery replaced one phone. I am sick of paying for a service that is not reliable and they don't want to do much about it. The worst part of it all is that I went into a Telstra shop to look at getting a prepaid phone to use also and they staff member told me that telstra didnot renew their contract with vodafone for the use of their towers. So much for a problem with their software. More like that they don't have enough towers in areas to keep up with the service they want to supply

7592 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Internet at 28 Dec 2010 07:24:06 PM
I am no longer in a mess because I was able to be released from my contract. I was having trouble using the internet. I dreaded ringing customer care and having to answer the same questions over and over again. The situation was ridiculous I would be trying to bid on Ebay and experienced service interruptions when I was trying to bid. I was given free access for three months. The company knew that there was a capacity problem in my area. I was then able to terminate my contract at the end of three month period because I was unhappy with the service. The final problem that cause me to lose confidence in the company was when I was unable to access the internet and technical support came to the conclusion that it was my SIM card at fault and arranged for me to replace my SIM card. The next day I had no problems connecting to the internet even though I had not replaced the SIM card. I still receive a monthly 1 cent internet bill from the company. I will not pay the bill because it will cost me more to pay it. It is possible that I will incur a charge for paying that bill and continue to be billed by the company.
The only good plan that Vodafone offers is the 365 day prepaid plan because the phone that I use it in is only used for receiving calls.

7588 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 7/10 at 28 Dec 2010 07:21:37 PM
I was with 3 for approx 5 years and was very happy with the service when I was contacted by comms direct and offered a 'superior' deal with vodafone. During the first two months of being with Vodafone I made at least 50 calls to have certain billing and service terms brought in line with what was originally offered to me. After many hours on the phone I think I have now got all terms of my contract recorded correctly with vodafone but the service is still terrible and the network coverage is not even close to being as good as what I had with 3. Before signing up with Vodafone I made sure to check that the network would be as good as with 3. I was assured that it would be better. I beleived that claim because I had recently heard that Vodafone had acqquired 3 but unfortunately my coverage with Vodafone is not close to as good as it was with 3.

Having a Vodafone plan which I commenced in October 2010. I then travelled from Brisbane by car to Port Macquarie/Taree where I was unable to get any coverage; calls in or out or regular Txt messages resulting in an increased account. Upon returning to Brisbane I went to the Indooroopilly Vodafone office and a 'trainee' person who attended me was unable to provide any reasons for the problems I had experienced. I then went to Sydney to visit my daughter, who lives in Newtown -- again similar problems occurred. Upon my return to Brisbane, I went to the Vodafone office at Upper Mt Gravatt. I spoke with two people at this office, nothing was clearly explained to me again as to why I had no coverage in an inner-Sydney suburb, no calls were able to be received, made or again txt messages sent, some would be received butnot until some hours later. One of the Cutomer Services Assistants at this office said 'if you are in a brick building attempting to use the mobile, we have become aware of problems' -- obviously someone who has never been to Sydney. They did change my SIM card at this store as they said 'if the original SIM card is scratched it will cause problems'. I have so far paid Vodafone 5 to 6 times a month since October, more than I expected to be paying because of these problems.

I have 2 phones joined to my account name and my pain commenced about 3mths ago!! Both phones were being used in 2 different areas of Adelaide with the same cpmplaint of no reception for hours at a time and text messages being received in bulk hours after they had been sent Vodafone were tellimg me it was the handsets which I could not really believe since they were not the same model phone but who was I to believe!? Hours on the phone on different days of the week for about 3 weeks we reset phone settings and many headaches later still for them not to have the connection I was paying for since both these phones are for my teenage sons they are actually my life line to them both. Finally they admitted it may be time for an upgrade so we did this about 4 weeks ago which was fine until about 2weeks ago and the pain has started again intermitten network again!! Then I saw this on the news last night and today tonight this evening so i thought I would join in and pass on my disappointment of paying for a service which Iam not receiving at the moment. Hope we can get this sorted out since I have also gone from $49 & $29 plans to 2 $69 plans hoping all would be good for the next 24months. Sue Elliott Greenwith S.A.

I had zero Broadband coverage in a 'full service' and attempted to return the modem the following day after 2 hours talking to India. 3 trips to the local dealer and 4 hours on the phone being shunted around and I was finally sent a return envelope which went the day it arrived. Bills kept coming ...more trips and phone calls. I was then accused of NOT sending it back. I had to prove with a receipt the package had been sent. Vodafone finally cancelled my account but we still get statements saying they owe us money. They lost me and everyone I know very quickly.

7466 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Worst at 28 Dec 2010 06:36:30 PM
Being on call 24/7 with a Marine Rescue Unit and living just 8.5kms from Brisbane City, on the South side, you would think you would have more than 2 bars at any given time around the house. It's easier for my crew to drive 5 minutes to knock on my door, than it is to try and contact me by vodacrap. If someone leaves a message, it can take anywhere from 10 minutes to 11 hours for me to receive the message, if you can understand was is texted through to me from vodacrap. After speaking to the person who left the message with vodacrap, it appears vodacrap should enter "chinese whisper" competions.
The boss at work made the mistake of giving a vodacrap computer stick for work related use. The joke being, it very rarely works at home, and after being charged 3 times on my credit card, within a five day period for internet connection, i made the mistake of trying to contact the infamous costumer service department on the mobile. After 6 phone calls, and five dropouts on the mobile, then spending 53 minutes on hold to India, explaining 4 times the problem and being passed to 3 departments, they have assured me a refund within 10 working days. Thank god i had extra funds available in the account.
7 years of vodacrap in 2 different cities and Brisbane is actually worst for reception than Darwin. Have an appointment Telstra on Thursday afternoon. Fingers crossed their any better

28 Dec 2010 06:35:42 PM: I could not believe when they gave the 1555 number... even if you were a happy vodafone customer and had a minor question you are going to be on wait for hours now... sat on 1555 for a total of 4 hours this week. Beyond a joke.

Sitting here on my lounge on the top floor of a unit block with no other taller buildings around me & I am not far from the centre of Sydney and only have 1 bar on my iphone & only 3 bars on my laptop (have mobile broadband as well). Tried to change plans two months ago - said everything was okay and was now on the cheaper plan. Got my next bill and found that I wasn't changed over. I rang on the 1555 number and after getting fobbed off to numerous departments they told that there was nothing on my file to say that I wanted to change. Was disputing the account. Awoke on Christmas Eve to find that they had disconnected my service and that I would have to pay the entire account including the amount that is not yet due before they would reconnect me. As I have no landline at home I didn't have a choice. I've paid for the service - NOW PROVIDE ONE!!!!!

I first tried to upgrade the plan I use for work to get a new phone towards the end of August. "Yep sweet 4 week wait for phone to arrive" they say. 4 weeks LATER 1 HOUR ON HOLD. "Where is my phone?" I ask. " UH THERE IS A PROBLEM UPGRADING YOUR ACCOUNT SHOULD BE SORTED IN A COUPLE OF DAYS" they say.
1 week later another HOUR ON HOLD. " THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN SENT TO TECH SUPPORT DEPARTMENT, YOU HAVE BEEN UPGRADED TO HIGH PRIORITY, WE WILL CALL YOU.
1 week later another HOUR ON HOLD. not resolved.
I wait 2 weeks, call, 45 mins on hold " I ASSURE YOU WE ARE WORKING ON IT YOU ARE ON HIGH PRIORITY."
1 more week, 1.5 hours on hold, " there is no problem you can upgrade now phone will be there within 4 weeks"
Beginning of DECEMBER... "WHERE IS MY PHONE? I AM GOING TO GO TO THE OMBUDSMAN."

They decide that while they are trying to resolve the problem they will put my NO PLANS on to a new contract and swap the terms across to my work # when it is resolved, then reinstate my NO PLANS (no plans doesn't exist any more)

YEAH LIKE THATS GOING TO HAPPEN. FIX MY NUMBER VODAFONE.......

Loss of business. Sending texts twice when only sent once or texts not even getting thru and not saying that they have not sent. so messages are going somewere just dont know were. Extreme holding times to talk to a customer service person. Not able to access the internet thru an iphone when away from wi fi at home. Getting cut off in the middle of conversations or line goes blank when talking on the phone and takes a very long time to cut itself out or just keeps the timer rolling if i dont manually end call. Found that my husband has an online account in his name and he has never set one up, tried to access it but the birthdate is wrong for the password to access it, tried to ring vodafone to find out what it was about and cant get thru to anyone to even inquire. went to a vodafone store today they couldnt give us any info because there system is down yet again. so sick of this. I have been a customer with vodafone for 11 years and it breaks my heart to switch to telstra but they have just pushed it too far. everytime we ring we get rude people its just not on.

After receiving an out of the ordinary phone bill for well over $300 for one month, I requested a fully itemised account from Vodafone. 4 months later, 7 phone calls, each time having to wait on hold from 30 to more than 45 minutes, I have received 5 copies of my original invoice (without the itemised call details). During my 5th phone call to Vodafone, I became frustrated, requesting to speak with either their supervisor or someone in Australia, both of which was refused. When I called the 7th time, I didn't bother explaining the problem with the CSO, but requested I be put through to the floor supervisor immediately. After fully explaining exactly what I want, the supervisor still emailed me the original invoice. I've now forwarded the issues with our Communications Ombudsman and am now waiting for contact from Vodafone. Of course, even though I've kept paying the payment plan on my mobile, they've cut off my phone service, which was poor anyway, especially once we leave Adelaide metro area. I'm so appalled at Vodafone's service and intelligence, especially considering this is my 3rd phone contract with Vodafone and I even convinced my partner to get a Vodafone mobile early 2009. Never again will I sign up with Vodafone nor will I ever recommend Vodafone to anybody again. What happened to them? Why have they outsourced their service centre to an overseas location, who can't even understand nor speak simple English!!!

Difficult to even get coverage, then there are drop outs mid conversation. I recieve text messages & voicemail messages days after they are sent, and my contacts advise they recieve my messages days after they are sent, as well. When I text to ask for an account balance I get no reply, uncanny because I am constantly getting "check service" appearing on my phone. Lucky for me I am a prepaid customer - they lost me as an internet customer earlier this year, and they will also lose me as a telephone customer as well, the service is just not good enough.

Though by their coverage map I should have top level reception, I rarely have any at all. To the point I had to go and get a land line for my home so that I could remain contactable.
Vodafone's explanation for this was that I was inside and they couldn't account for having a roof above me.
Even if this were acceptable, I still have the same problems when I'm out in the open...

I have been a loyal vodafone customer since 2000 and whithin the last 6 months i have had nothing but cronic pain with them. In July i upgraded to and Iphone, upgraded my plan and the next month i got a bill for $1200, including 2 different contract charges a contract cancelation charge and an excessive data charge, it took me 6 months nearly and to lodge a complaint with the TIO before i could have all but the monthly fee waved due to the incompetance of the customer service staff. They did not start my new plan when they said they would thus incurring the data charges, they did not update my account properly thus incurring the contract cancellation fee and since then i have not been able to use any data and barely make calls without it failing at home, So basically i pay $120 a month for a fone and data contract i can't use when i'm home. This is outrageous and i'm stuck with it for 18 months unless i pay out the contract/ fone finance deal so i can port to a different carrier.

I would almost vote that Vodafone is now the worst mobile provider in Australia and have the worst customer service i have ever experienced with being on hold for crazy amounts of time and honestly can anyone understand what the damn operators that "CLAIM" to be in say melbourne for example but clearly have a crazy strong totaly impossible to understand accent YEH RIGHT.

I have had charges on my bills for something I didn't even sign up for. I recently got a new phone through them and when I had a look at my new bill I noticed a charge of $10.00 for some internet package I didn't know anything about. Through insistance they finally looked into it and found I was right. This had been going on for 3 months. If I had not taken much notice of what was on the bill I would have been out of pocket even more. They have done a credit of $30.00 to my account now but I urge people to really check your bills.

Have been back with Vodafone for around 7 weeks, unable to access the myvodafone for the last 4 weeks. Spoken to the call center they try resetting the password, it doesn't work, they tell me to wait 24hrs and try again...I put the ball in their court for them to ring me back with a solution - they don't! When mention this to other people they appologise but say they cant do anything and will fix - but doesn't happen. Now referred to TIO.
Also have had issues with deals that I signed up for not going through and taking numerous calls and a visit to the store to sort out - deals still aren't being completely honoured, but i don't have time/effort to persue. Billing issues with them charging the credit card rather than bank account.

I recently canceled my contract with vibraphone for two many reasons to mention. They offered me an early exit payout figure i agreed to this - then they sent me a bill for triple the amount i KEEP CALLING AND ALL I EVER GOT WAS SOMEONE IN INDIA-how do i know as the person said they were based at the airport that's very strange as i work there and they could not even describe the area hm mm.even though my contract does not exist iam still being billed go figure-then they send me an automatic debt collection letter for $48.00 wow this is the last straw.
I sick and tired of paying for poor coverage and drop outs. Very frustrating... As well as customer service (or lack of) that have no idea on the problems. All customer service want to do is transfer you and argue with you about the problem. I have lodge a complaint with the telecommunications industry ombudsman, asking Vodafone to terminate my contract and my sons as well. They are yet to get back to me.

About a month ago I reported vodafone to teo as somehow my husbands phone account had been muddled with another vodafone's customer. After a vigorous 3 days of constantly having a phone to my ear (mind you 95% of the time i was on hold) I continuously got told that they could not access my account without the correct personal information. I then got on my web account which had another ladies name as well as all of her information, bills and phonecalls. Finally after contacting TEO I got a phone call from a vodafone representative willing to listen. As my vodafone phone was out of action I had to rach up my optus bill which still sits at a total of $600 + as I simply can not afford to pay it. Vodafone keep telling me that they are compensating my account by giving me 9 months credit but since then they have added a subscription to the account which i've been told was authorised and is on contract which can't be canceled. I added no such thing to my account. Also I've still got the other customers details on my account page. And they refuse to take responsibility for my optus bill so i've got optus threatening debt collection etc...

the only sufficient compensation is for vodafone to cancel my accounts with them... and i'm not going to give up until this has happened.

7233 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is pathetic at 28 Dec 2010 05:55:12 PM
I have my internet and mobile with vodafail and have had nothing but trouble with both of them. When I signed up for the net I was at pains to make sure that I would have internet coverage where I live, Glen Waverley, and was assured that I would have coverage. Well, in my house I amluckyto get one bar and I get kicked off more often than not. There is also a conflict with the mobile number assigned with the internet as I keep getting someone elses sms's.

My mobile has the same coverage issues but I also get no services, voice mails three days after the call was made (which never rang at my end), someone will sms mea picture and it'll take 2 or 3 days for it to get there.

So I rang them today and was on hold for about 40 minutes (apparently that's good after reading oter stories) then the only thing that they'd do for the net was to put the plan down to $5 a month for now,but when I go home after my holidays then I ring the technical support I go through the whole thing again.
The mobile issue was a laugh because all I got was the speal about how much money they were spending, how things were going to get better ect.... basically they said that there was nothing they could do (we tried the on and off, settings ect - hello like I hadn't already tried that) then I was told that they would be happy to unlock my phone as long as i paid the $25 which they would then credit to my account and then I go out and buy a prepaid sim card with another carrier to see if it works better in my phone or not. How stupied is that...... going straight to the ombudsmen now...

I also am experiencing the phone drop outs. Normally its about 1 minute in. I also go to call people and it doesn't connect. I also fail to receive messages on time. After calling vodafone and waiting on hold for half an hour the lady eventually said that i have call barrings activated (yes, I personally chose to block messages to my phone). For everyone out there who are having this problem dial #330*0000# and then it will say call barrings canceled.

I also had a problem paying my bill online, i called customer service and eventually managed to contact a vodafone phone answerer. I say it like this because I couldn't understand a word she was saying and visa versa. She told me that I could pay my bill over the phone but she couldn't guarantee that it would register as paid. She gave me a three day extension. I then since managed to pay it but three weeks on it still hasn't registered that ive payed even though its been taken out of my account. I went into the vodafone shop and told them about it and they said there was nothing they could do and I would have to contact customer care. What is the point of having a shop if you cant get help from them? Just there to make sales and faulty promises.

Also, my bill this month has miraculously gained a couple of dollars. From them sending me your bill is now due message, it now says after texting 1512 that its extra few dollars. Of course i cant get through to customer "care". Although I did email them. However i received an automated response listing nothing more then what was available on the internet. It then changed the status of my communication to "Solved" which meant no further action would be taken. I then replied to that response and got another email saying that it would be up to a couple of months due to "holiday" period before I would get a response.

I also fail to get reception for most of the day at work. I work in a well populated metropolitan area and still have no reception. Its pathetic.

My boyfriend took his phone into the store to get fixed, after telling him that it would be fixed withing 2 weeks and no phone replacement phone could be offered he contacted them 3 months later to find out what was going on. They said they had been trying to contact him. He found out they were ringing his mobile number (after he had requested they ring his work phone). How helpful. Little did they know he had borrowed an old phone from a friend and had no miss calls over the period of that 3 months.

Lara, the automated phone answering service is pathetic. Its ridiculous and it takes over 5 minutes to get transferred to a help department who then put you on hold.

Their bill checking service also conveniently is unavailable towards the end of the billing period so you can not check your balance and adjust usage accordingly .One day, you've got $100 left, the next day your minus $20 when only 10 messages were sent.

In summary, I'm am so unsatisfied with the service Vodafone provide and cannot wait to get out of my contract! Kudos for bringing this lack of service to the public's attention and getting the majority to unite to force Vodafone to act.

Hi there,

I just want to convey how I am very disappointed with the service of Vodafone. I signed up to a contract 2+ years ago under my guardian's name because I was still under 18 back then. I was expecting to experience the so-called 'the best operator' service. To be honest, the service that Vodafone gives over the 2 years was very bad, I have failed to receive reception when I go to certain areas in Victoria. Often, I also have problem sending and receiving International messages.

Switching the name from my guardian to myself was very VERY very VERY difficult; the operator keeps asking for a whole bunch of stuffs that don't seem too important. I had quiet a difficult time to communicate with the operators, not that their English is bad but they keep assuming the stuffs that I know and that I don't know; and as a customer, I don't want to listen to a customer service saying "HEY, you don't know this!".

Now that I just realized I have $60 credit in my guardian's account, I have called Vodafone customer care and AGAIN, they make it very difficult for me. I do understand that for security reasons Vodafone will need to authorize whoever is claiming the credit. BUT HEY! Let's just think for a second here; if my guardian has said that I can be passed as the next account holder of the number, then it means that my guardian is saying "Yes, this guy has used the number for the last 2 years that the contract was on". If that's the case then is it that difficult to know and understand that the $60 belongs to me.

I really think that Vodafone needs to review its policies on changing the account holder. At the end of the day, we both want something from the other party. Me, as a customer, I want to have convenience using Vodafone and in my honest opinion, the convenience that Vodafone is serving (especially over the last few months when I tried to change the account holder's name and claiming the credit, which I don't seem to be successful with) is very very disappointing.

Best regards,

Harris

I have been a Vodafone customer for many years. Last December I signed up for a 2 year contract for mobile broadband as I was moving houses & didn't want to pay the $200 transfer fee for my then current cable internet provider. After installing the device I immediately began having problems with connection, speed, drop outs and unable to connect. The plan was for $20/month for the first 6 months & $40/month for the balance of the contract & thereafter. After at least 100 hours on my mobile to vodafone's 1555 I still had no resolve, except to be told that the USB device appeared to be faulty USB device. A replacement was sent & still had the same problems. At least another 200 hours of calls to vodafone I some how managed to speak to an Aussie woman who was extremely sympathetic to my problems who said that I didn't need to have to go through with all this which also included an account for over $200 of excess usage. She then credited my account with the excessive usage amount plus lowered the monthly charges to $20/month for the balance of the contract & thereafter. This didn't alleviate the problems that I was enduring, however it eased the financial pain. Next my email bills failed to arrive although I had received texts to say that they had been sent. The straw that broke the camel's back came when all vodafone services in my area went down for 3 days, for the 4 vodafone phones & internet in my household. After getting out of my immediate are I managed to connect to 1555 where I was kept on hold for almost 3 hours whilst "lara" kept on telling me to "hold on, we'll be with you shortly" which was announced every few minutes much to the annoyance of my bus passengers as the phone was on bluetooth. The woman I finally spoke to was as ignorant as most of the call centre people seem to be and blamed the problems on either my phone or my computer.
When I demanded to be put through to someone in Australia the response was that there was no-one in Aust. to speak to as everyone was in Mumbai India. My latest problems now is that I still do not have 3G coverage although the drop outs etc., are far & few between, but the coverage goes from 3G to HSDPA to GPRS and finally at times to Edge which is as good as not having a connection at all. I have been promised monthly credits which haven't come through. After so many months of pain, agony, frustration and anger my email bilss have finally arrived with the message..."congratulations, your first email bill is attached". Get your bloody act together Vodafone and give us real people in Australia we can speak to and know what they are talking about. I'd go back to cable even at a higher price, but sadly it's not available in my area through satellite.
