Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

1217 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is epic at 20 Dec 2010 01:47:28 PM
Been with VF for nearly 10 years, prior to that Telstra. Have watched VF's network quality go from comparatively good to mediocre at best.

I have a Nokia E66 and live in far south-western Sydney where reception is pretty sparse: some days I have full 3G, other days half, and some days only 2G. Once or twice a whole day with no reception at all. If I drive 5 minutes down the road, I get nothing. Mates who live in the same area as I, who are on drOptus, have maginally better reception. I occasionally have delays in sending/receiving txts, but usually don't get drop-outs.

Reception on trains? Don't make me laugh.
3G in regional areas? What's a three gee?

Last straw for me was the 3 weeks of network issues in Sydney CBD where I work. What a joke. Compared to a loaned Telstra mobile (Samsung C5220) on NextG - it just works, and works nearly everywhere without drop-outs and with lightning fast interwebs!!

Vote with your feet people.

I'll be switching back to Telstra next year, even though it costs more. Rather have piece of mind knowing my mobile will work first time every time.

1214 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is fail sandwich with extra fail at 20 Dec 2010 01:39:49 PM
I am a Doctor at RPA in Camperdown and I have experienced at least 3 occasions where there has been absolutely no service for more than 4 hours at a time. Not only is it incredibly frustrating for someone who relies heavily on constant communication from work, but it is makes me look like I have my phone off on purpose. And, oh, I can not answer my pager either as my phone has no reception. I am talking perhaps 6 km from the centre of the biggest city in Australia and to have nothing is ridiculous. Three days ago I received a message sent to me 4 months ago! Admittedly, it doesn't happen often - but when it does it just makes me count the days until my contract is pver.
28 Dec 2010 02:10:20 AM: I live in Camperdown on Mallett St. I use Vodafone 3G for my laptop. It was good until late December and now it drops out at times, I may be wrong but before I just used to have 3G and HSUPA but now there is an EDGE network as well and since that appeared things are just randomly dropping out. Soooo I just thought it was lack of bandwidth when they rolled out the EDGE network. I didn't bother calling support as I knew I would talk to a guy in India. Why bother?

Had the normal vodafone issues for past 6-8 weeks as many other have dealt with.

75mins on the phone on 16/11 saw me get out of my two contracts with only the cost of the handset charge incurreed - which is being claimed in a complaint to the TIO that was lodged last week.

To those trying to get out of their contracts - stay strong on what you want when you get a CSR, and whittle them down until they raise it enough times with their supervisor to give in.

Hello new iPhone4 on a decent 3G network...

Checking in here from Perth. I live less than 20km from the CBD in the metropolitan area and rarely get more than one bar reception and woeful 3G data connectivity. Am experiencing all the usual difficulties of dropped out calls and unsent text messages. Rang vodafone a while back and they blamed the phone (which is why im stuck under contract) have since bought 2 more phones outright and now have a iphone 3GS and all experience the poor excuse for coverage that they offer. Cant wait for July to get rid of these criminals!!

1183 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is JUST THE WORST at 20 Dec 2010 10:44:02 AM
I have been with Vodafone for over 10 years and in all that time have not had any problems UNTIL NOW !!!
After telling the NON-service people that I was having problems and believed it was due to a faulty network they went through the usual procedures - turn off you phone, take out the sim etc etc etc - they would not believe me that their network was the problem. I then went around my building and got the numbers of 13 other people on Vodafone and rang back the NON-service dept and confronted them with what I had found "Oh yes sir, since your last call we have been notified of a network problem " - what a load of CRAP.

I am now prepared to sign up with TELSTRA (never thought I would say that) because I can not go through this Vodafone crap any longer.

1176 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Effing huge at 20 Dec 2010 09:50:06 AM
For the past three months I've had the worst reception, both GPRS and 3G, from any time with any Telco in my life (equal with Orange perhaps). I have an iPhone 3G and web pages don't load and calls and message just don't work any more.
I called to complain a few weeks ago and they said they'd start and investigation into my reception, throwing in 100 excuses as to why it might be going so bad. They said my address was not a problem spot.
I had to argue that I didn't spend all day at home, that I move all over Sydney for work.
I then had to call back after 'resetting network settings' in my phone and swapping SIM cards. They also suggested it could be a faulty phone.
Anyway, so I called back and said the reports in the SMH made them look bad. I said "if a Vodafone spokeswoman admitted to the media the network has a software issue restricting the service, you've failed to meet your contractual obligations".
They offered me $15 credit to my account.
I said do better, because the past three months of no service cost me $240.
They offered me $35 credit.
I said transfer me to the contract cancellation department.
After being on hold for the 10th time, I got there.
The 10th Indian person answered and instantly began offering me new plans and phones.
"I just want to cancel the contract," I said.
She then offered me three months of free bills. By the time that period is up I'll have 2-3 weeks of my contract left.
I accepted it knowing I will go with another telco after that time.
Vodafone, it's been swell, but I hope you get swallowed up by a better telco.

Work from home in Richmone - 3121. Just got a new HTC Legend under the $45 infinite plan which is great. But phone and data flaky 15th to 19th Dec. Missed calls from office etc. Vodafone claimed an upgraded to the network was being done, and would be completed by 19th. It is better today, (20th) but cant believe how they would bring down the service and not tell me in advance or offer some sort of compensation. Amateur hour. Spend less money advertising on the Cricket and keep the existing customers with better service! BTW, still dont understand the usage and billing data on Myvodafone.

1169 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Rubbish Internet at 20 Dec 2010 09:01:09 AM
I haven't had calls drop out (sounds like I'm one of the lucky ones), but the internet access is awful! 3/4 bars of alleged 3G reception and keep getting 'no network connection' or 'the server can't be reached' constantly when I try accessing websites (I'm in the Brisbane CBD, not the middle of nowhere!).

Got so bad I had the firmware re-flashed on my phone because I thought it was a handset problem! Now I know the real cause - thanks for the website

I upgraded my phone with Crazy John's who use the Vodafone network in June and from day one it's been failure. I can only get reception in one room in my apartment even though I live only 4 km from the CBD and even then it's nowhere near 100%. I'll have one - MAYBE two - bars of 3G, but sometimes zero. And often when hanging up from a call (If I've been able to get a line out, which can take multiple attempts) I'll see that it's showing the tower symbol not 3G anyway.
The number of times I have missed calls and only got a v/m notification HOURS later is too many to count. Same with text msgs - if they come in after 10.30 I'm too scared to reply in case it was sent hours earlier and I've just received it but it's too late to reply.
Downloading a podcast can take over half an hour here, whereas in Melb it took less than 4 mins!!
I have complained and complained and complained and the best they could offer was a reset remotely, and when that didn't work they made me send it off for two weeks and gave me the WORST loaner phone ever created while I waited, and then there was no improvement anyway. I don't know what else to do.
I shouldn't have to buy myself out of a contract when they are not providing a service. Surely they are in breach of contract and I should be compensated not punished???

WTF? VERY fustrating especially when you need the data connection for something important like banking. I can understand poor coverage but I think the issue is to do with Vodafone's data servers not being able to keep up with the load... STOP SELLING PRODUCTS YOU CAN'T SUPPORT VODAFONE!

To add insult they treat you like you are a dumb moron when you try to complain about the lack of network connection/signal. Ridiculous considering their own bosses have acknowledged huge issues in the media their support refuse to !!
The TIO is now handling my complaints and I wont settle for anything less than cancellation of my contract now

Calls drop out all the time and then i will have no serivce for a couple of days. I cal them and after waiting an hour and a half on the phone the bloke told me to go to a vodafone store and get a blank sim. I told him i dont live near a vodafone store as i am in regional victoria and he told me to go to a store that sells vodafone sims and they will give me a blank sim. I questioned tihs and told him why would they give me a blank sim if they are not a vodafone store and he assured me they would. I went to the store and surprise suprise they told me where to go and did not give me a blank sim. I call back vodafone and waited on hold for 2 hours before i got through and told them they had lied to me and that they were not upholding their end of the contract by providing the service they advertise. They said they would send me another sim but it would take 7 days. I told them that in the past 12 months this has happened twice and i end up waiting 10 days for a replacement sim. They would not even credit me or compensate me for being without the phone for 10 days. I asked them to send me a couple of sims as this will happen again as it seems to happen every quarter where the sims fail, she told me they couldn't and it wasnt until i got really abusive and pissed off that she agreed to send me 2 sims. I had heard there was a problem with the vodafone network and checked their site and there was nothnig posted about any outages and when i questioned her she said there was no problems. I have since found out there were outages and they outright lied. I cant wait until my contract expires and i never have to deal with vodafone again.

1154 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is You get what you pay for at 20 Dec 2010 08:04:35 AM
Let's face it, Vodafone are throwing an attractively priced "service" at the market. They have succeeded in saturating their already underperforming network as more and more new customers are conned into connecting to their generous plans. There is never a day that they do not have advertising in the press. While I am not contracted to them I have persevered through many of the usual service issues any other Vodafone customer would be only too familiar with. As soon as I can afford to spend more on communications I will be off to another provider...although as far as I can see they all seem to have their own set of issues.
The ACCC should definitely be looking into how Vodafone can spend so much on attracting new customers whilst spending next to nothing on supporting current ones. Their set up makes it next to impossible to report or get any positive action on service difficulties caused by their poor infastructure and lack of investment in a decent 3G network.

I used to work for Hutchison, for Vodafone hutchison Australia ( VHA) and I can tell you that the fairy's that work there are all totally incompetant. They are complete liars about your quality of service, and coverage. Basically after the merger last year, they have been trying to merge everyone on to the voda network from 3 without spending a cracker on upgrading the network as they hav'nt got cash or not willing to spend it. this means a doubling of subscribers overnight and with all the data services available, the old Hutch 3G can't cope either. cast your mind back about 12mths for those suckers that had 3 USB data sticks, remember how you couldn't get connection from 6pm-12am, due to congestion? Well guess what, now you got another 3million voda customers on the 3G network, hence why its so bad. The fact that its taken over 12months just to get a new services contract in place with the base station vendor NSN, tells you that they are behind the 8 ball with network upgrades. I could go on for another hr but wont. Basically Voda they will come good in about 15mths, just about the time that your due for a 24 mth contract upgrade that they just locked you in to. unfortunately people have short memories.

Just because you live in the inner city does not mean you will always have the best reception! Think about it when driving in traffic around the CBD you can't just say of this is a shit road they should fix it. Everyone is trying to get somewhere BUT all at the same time. You just have to sit there and wait. It's exactly like the network 100 of thousands of people all using it at the same time it can only do so much.

Honestly some other networks arnt like his because noone uses it, just wait till everyone moves across it's going to be exactly the same.

Everyone is going to telstra because they have great reception, wait till they arnt a government body anymore then you'll be laughing. The government won't be putting anymore money in then it's going to be shit.

Vodafone got all these issues since the major merge with 3 occured.
I waited untill my contract with 3 finished and I moved to Vodafone @ the time when they were merging together, and their bullshit was "We're merging the 2 companies for better network coverage" Now that's a lie.
they have over loaded their network without upgrading their reception equipments...

I got an Iphone4 which I originally thaugh that the reception issue was from the Iphone4, I got on to Apple who explained to me thje reception story / issue of vodafone about 3 month ago which I didn;t quite beleive him back then but Apple was kind enogh to swap my Iphone 4 with a brand new one JUST FOR MY OWN PEACE OF MIND !!!!!

However, I kept on having calls dropt out, people not being able to get hold of me, leaving me voice msg and the terrible part of it is you don't get these voice msgs directly, it could be 2 or 3 hours don the track to get them.

I have reported the issue to TIO, then I got someone from the Escalation team @ Vodafone working on that issue for me, they suggested a new sim card (Well what the point if I've only been with them for 4 months??? can't be the SIM that's causing these issues??)

Then was told that their Network / reception Eng team are investigating the issues and I got a call from one of these Eng people explaining that they have found a reception fault near where I live, but the issue is all over the place...

Guys, let's teach Vodafone a lesson.

You guys should complain about them to TIO and get them to cancel your contract with NO EARLY EXIT Fees

The customer service is a joke - some third rate call centre out of mumbai where a person reads from a screen and has no idea what is going on.

The reception is some bad it is not funny. Dropped calls, no net, just ridiculous.

The lies of the customer service reps, the false tests and the utmost waste of time is just mind boggling.

They cannot possibly continue to offer service contracts when the network cant even handle it!

They should be suspended from taking on new customers until such time as the network issues are resolved satisfactorily!

If you are with them get out... If you are not run...

1129 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Worse that Fail at 20 Dec 2010 07:18:53 AM
Vodafone, aside from running a dodgy network, has partially or completely REMOVED HUMANS from its interactions with customers and COMPLETELY ABANDONNED ANY PRETENSE TO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

If you call Vodafone:
You will be answered by Lara (a computer program). She may or may not ever connect you to a queue where you can wait for a human. However, she sometimes connects you to another automated service that you don't want which will hang up on you. Frustratingly, when the Vodafone website tells you to call 1300 301 030 number, you get regular Lara, who does not know why you have called and does not help you find out who you should speak to.
LARA DOES NOT WORK and Vodafone KNOWS LARA DOES NOT WORK*, but you have to deal with her anyway.

If you email Vodafone:
To email Vodafone, you must complete a webform. The webform will NOT allow you to send the email until you have browsed FAQs - 3 SEPARATE TIMES.
IF you can send the email, you will probably receive an automated reply. This reply will inform you that, EVEN THOUGH you read the FAQs and did NOT find an answer, the answer to your question is in the FAQs. The email will then INFORM you that your question HAS BEEN answered. No human has looked at your question, and no human ever will.... unless you reply. If you are especially lucky, weeks after you send your email - Vodafone will send you another automated reply informing you that because it has taken so long to respond, you have probably fixed the problem yourself. Vodafone will then INFORM you that it considers the problem RESOLVED. The problem has so far been 'resolved' twice without any human reading your email... unless you reply AGAIN. Then, if you are super lucky, a human will read your email. However, due to all the long trail of correspondence required to get a human to read it, the questions in your original email have 'gone missing'. So, the human will invite you to reply AGAIN AGAIN to clarify what the original problem was. Judging by the length of time I have waited, your reply AGAIN AGAIN will probably go to the end of a very ling queue.**

If you take your complaint to the TIO:
Vodafone will eventually call you back. The human you talk to may well ask you if the previous people you spoke to were "from Australia", suggesting that they think this is important. In my case, I eventually managed to fix my original problem myself - by finally logging into the myVodafone website - HOWEVER I think it is very *likely* that Vodafone lied to me originally about the problem. LYING TO CUSTOMERS IS A PROBLEM. The Vodafone complaints department will NOT investigate that, and will NOT release the recordings of calls without a court order. Vodafone will usually charge $20 for a print out of your 'billing records' and it is not clear what this includes. They will also NOT correspond with you by EMAIL. Even the TIO complaints department will NOT provide any CONVENIENT & VERIFIABLE way to communicate with them.

IN SHORT:
Vodafone do not want to provide a human to deal with you. Ever.
Vodafone will not answer your questions.
Vodafone representatives may well tell complete lies, but it is very difficult to find out.
VODAFONE DEMONSTRATE CONTEMPT FOR YOU IF YOU WISH TO DO BUSINESS WITH THEM.

* A representative from Vodafone complaints department called Phil confirmed that Vodafone is aware that Lara is loathed and Vodafone plan to introduce a parallel system, but not until the end of February.
** I suspect this queue is made even longer by all the times you have to reply if you are really determined to get an answer in writing.

1128 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst Telco in Australia at 20 Dec 2010 07:16:45 AM
I've been with every major operator in Australia and Vodafone is by far the worst. My iphone is CONSTANTLY searching for service, OR, it says I have 3g connectivity but when I go to browse I get no connection. If it's not searching for reception it is saying I have reception only to not allow me to make any phone calls, I dial a number and wait endlessly for a dial tone. Then my messages wont send and I can't receive any calls.

I work in Sydney CBD near Pitt St mall. My office tower has a vodafone tower abuot 10 metres from my desk. Do I ever have good reception? NO. Does it contasntly drop out? YES. Do I have 3g? NEVER.... WTF?

I also get to enjoy the airport train line in my daily commute, be wary as the reception will only ever last about 5 seconds before it cuts out.

What I really don't understand is I am a vodafone customer and I am using the supposingly "crap" iphone 4, using my phone right now to write this post full 3G reception, fast Internet speeds I don't know what all the fuss is about. I'm getting speeds of up to 4mb/s download and 1mb/s upload. You are all just in denial and can't accept that your retarded. Is all your fault stop fruit to blame the company for your inability to use technology.
28 Dec 2010 08:48:29 AM: All these people are "retarded"? I am surprised that these"retarded" people have generally expressed themselves so clearly. As one of the "retarded", I think the previous poster is a Voodoofone stooge, not in denial, perhaps not even attempting "damage control" and very angry about the situation he/she is in and the sh!tstorm which is happenning. And none of us need to be any further abused by Vodafone or its employees.

I assume this won't get posted as the publisher appears to have a few issues - I certainly have never had an issue with Vodafone. Excellent customer service - coverage isn't great in rural areas but the entire country knows that, and ppl who say they don't are either ignorant or liars.

I bought a netbook plan for when I travel into Melbourne. The internet drops out all the time, even when it says it is connected. I rang up to complain and was told "we don't guarantee coverage for where you live". I know that. I understand and accept drop outs in the country. I don't understand or accept drop outs in Melbourne's inner suburbs!

1100 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Crap at 20 Dec 2010 04:45:39 AM
I know someone who works at Vodafone and he said the MORONS who run the company have just took a stupid decision to move custs from 3 to Vodafone. How and why would you put custs in grief if you already know how bad your network is. Sorry its not bad but these unlimited plans and unlimited free calls on the network have jammed them big time. Another thing to share according to my friend all the guys who run the show at Vodafone are all ex sales guys. School dropouts mostly. Not even one has a tertiary education. HAHA. No wonder they take such stupid decisions.

1098 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Rubbish Service Provider at 20 Dec 2010 04:27:32 AM
The service has become a joke literally. Your lucky if you can maintain 30 seconds of talk time without your calling dropping off. I would consider you lucky if you can even maintain 1 bar of service throughout the day, as most of the day you will notice you can't even recieve phone calls due to the poor level of service available.

In addition I was overseas in the USA a few months back with my International roaming presumably activated however I was not able to make any outgoing or recieve incomming phone calls, I had to call vodafone and waited approx 1.5 hours on the phone and for them to hang up on me pretending its a drop off ridiculos service. I'm currently in the process of changing networks to any for that matter.

The crappy service or lack of from Vodafone over the past few months has been agonising. I thought it was my phone so I went out and bought a new phone only to discover it is not the phone but in fact the non existent service provided by vodafone. Calls drop out every 5 - 10 seconds, no network coverage, phone is out of service when 3G shows full service - no one can ring or sms. My phone only works sometimes when the 3G is switched off. SMS messages are late sometimes over 24 hours late. The 1223 service give you the wrong numbers, the customer service does not provide any service at all except for tormenting and torturing. Vodafone really SUCK. They deserve to be shut down, boycott vodafone and switch providers I am. Vodafail your lack of service, lack of customer support is disgusting, shameful, horrible, despicable, ridiculous, shit, appalling and leaves a lot to be desired. Refunds for everyone.

1092 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible! at 19 Dec 2010 11:29:56 PM
I've been with Vodafone for 6 years. My first problem came when they started sending me texts advertising their services. I was not happy when I got woken up by one at 1am! I rang them and got several more before they eventually stopped. I am sick of being the only person on holiday not to get a signal- this was long before the recently published reception drop-out. Now I've experience this it's the last straw. I rang Vodafone and was on hold for ages. I got through...silence. I said 'hello?' and they hung up on me. I phoned again and I was on hold for one hour before I spoke to someone who spoke very poor English. I was transferred three times then waited on hold for a further 15 mins! I hung up. Can you blame me? My contract expired last week- what fantastic timing! I've just signed with Telstra. I will never, ever go back to Vodafone.

Months of problems with call dropouts, "no service", useless data performance. I've had a replacement phone and a replacement SIM but still not fixed. I did manage to get their cancellations department to give me one month's credit and they assured me they're working through trying to get the network issues resolved. Is this all because of the merger with the 3 network going pear-shaped? Or a botched network expansion? Maybe they shouldn't have installed Vista :-)

I am so angry with vodafone. I am disgusted that they can get away with providing such poor service and coverage. My internet rarely works, compared to my friends on Optus and Telstra, the coverage area is just terrible. My phone is often out of serivce. I often receive messages hours after they have been sent to me and sometimes don't receive messages at all. Messages that I send are sometimes never received. I will be changing as soon as my contract is up and telling everyone I know to steer clear of vodafone. I can't believe they are able to get away with this, as far as I am concerned they are fraudulently operating as they are not providing the service that they advertise and they are well aware of this.

I have to stay near the landline; So much for Christmas shopping food and otherwise. Try ringing Vodafone and Lara says ring monday. Reading other posts tell me that people have been waiting for 4 hours for help from Vodafone. Will Vodafone pay me the $35/hour I will have to lose to contact them? Oh no I can't, my landline has to be kept free in case work needs to contact me. For this the family pays over $200/month for 3 phones. And fee Vodafone to Vodafone, Hah.

I've been with vodafone for about 10 years now and it's never given me any dramas. For weeks now I've had drama's with my coverage and I've spent hours and hours on the phone to customer service with the majority of it being on hold. I haven't been able to log into my account on the vodafone website for a month now too and when I call them they just keep telling me it's being worked on. I have since asked for a copy of my bill so I can see why I've got a bill that's way over what it normally is and I was told I'd have a copy in 48hrs, it's been over 5 days and I'm still waiting. I'm sick of sitting on hold with vodafone.

1046 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is dial-up internet for the price of broadband at 19 Dec 2010 06:10:18 PM
I signed up with 3 a few months ago for a USB modem, that ended up being a dud with 10kb/s download speeds in 3G areas from day 1. They offered to switch me over to Vodafone at no cost promising better speeds - I was happy with it and the speeds were pretty good, so no complaints there.

In the last month it has come to a grinding halt where I am now getting similar issues with dropouts in reception and slow download speeds ~5-10kb/s in 3G areas. At $49/month I expect better service than that, I didn't sign up for dial-up!

I'm just glad my work phone is with Optus. Lets hope they sort themselves out very soon because I sure as hell won't be renewing my contract or considering them in future...

1045 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Useless at 19 Dec 2010 06:04:54 PM
I've been with vodafail for about 7 weeks so far... and i'm horrified to think what i've gotten myself into. I've had so many of my customers emailing me saying they've been calling for hours and keep getting told my number is disconnected or out of service etc, strangely according to my phone i have full signal and i do get the occasional call.

I've had my sim card replaced due to MMS not working at all, It still didn't work immediately after the sim switch until about 3 days later. Then a couple of days after that it started working again.

Since then it only sporadically works, i've been into the vodafone store only to be told theres not much they can do and to call the support line... As i write this i've been on hold for passing 45 minutes now and still no sign of life.

Surely late on a sunday afternoon wouldn't be a peak period for them you would think...

At the same time i bought the phone i brought a car charger, 4 weeks after buying it, it failed and stopped charging the phone. Back to the Vodafone store i go.. only to be told we have to send it off and it could be 5-10 working days before its repaired or replaced. It's a bloody $20 charger, it should just be replaced on the spot. However even if they could do that as per usual there wasn't any in stock! I mean come on seriously vodafail, your taking in stupid amounts of money each month and declaring big profits and yet your network is just crap...

In addition i also suffer from the usual extremely slow internet service, delayed voicemail notifications, delayed text messages or messages that just never arrive.. random service dropouts. Last week i was in an area where according to there coverage map should have full 3g coverage. I couldn't get any mobile signal at all.

Optus, Vodafone and 3 have digusting 3G reception, as they operate on a 2100mhz frequency meaning they need lots of towers in short distances, whereas telstras need fewer towers over longer distances. On top of this, Tesltra has been building infrastructure for years, and have a massive lead over the other telcos. If you want a smartphone get it on Telstra. You get what you pay for.

997 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Buddhist, Amis, Isolationist at 19 Dec 2010 11:35:17 AM
At first I asked: Is Vodafone Buddhist?
I'd like to thank Vodafone for the peaceful and quiet life I've been living recently. Its really quite relaxing trying to call someone I thought I had to speak to urgently about one matter or another only for my iphone to display Call Failed repeatedly every time I try and then drop all network coverage altogether.

This inability to communicate, now that it is so frequent, gives me a chance to relax, take a few deep breaths and reconsider the urgent nature of my call, especially as there seems to be nothing I can do to fix the problem. "Maybe its the universe trying to tell me something" I think to myself, or "is is Karma?" Or perhaps I should try "living in the 'now'" and not on my phone (especially as it doesn't work like a phone anymore).

Then I asked: Is Vodafone Amish?
Similarly with text messages and voicemail. Its almost a relief to not be living in the 21st century as I await the vodafone monkeys to tap out my messages in telegram format and then get them dispatched by messenger pigeon. As I live and work in the CBD and Vodafone only seems to have its pigeon fleet in the country, it can take hours or even days for a message to arrive.

Then I realised maybe: Vodaphone is an Isolationist?
I also travel very frequently to NZ, again, its really peaceful when I arrive back after being away for a week or so and realize I've have no missed calls, voicemail messages or texts. Sometimes this makes me feel lonely.
But then I realised that this saves me from having to make any troublesome return calls or follow up messages (not that I could on the network in any case).

So I'm looking forward to the next installment of Failure to see what it brings, in the meantime the Vodafone billing seems to be working just fine....

996 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Not What I Signed Up For! at 19 Dec 2010 11:31:55 AM
I cannot believe I can't get reception in the major cities in Australia. I have a phone plan that I can't fully use due to poor reception and drop outs, and an internet plan that just simply rarely works.
The ACCC has to do something!
What Vodafone is doing is CRIMINAL!

Poor reception, failed SMS sends, delays with receiving SMSes, constant call drop outs, might as well not even have data on my plan cause half the time I can't even load sites and when I can, it's slower than dial up

993 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is No words can describe at 19 Dec 2010 11:24:53 AM
My mobile does not know what YouTube is, thanks to Vodafone!! My internet allowance is 3 GB per month, which is "massive gig" to most of us. But wait, I am using less than 250 MB out of 3 GB - so poor is Vodafone network, it takes ages to download even the most plain of webpages with just text on them. I tried calling them thrice, but on an average I have waited 45 min, tragedy is I still did not manage to speak to their Customer Center. VODAFONE, PLEASE STOP TAKING NEW CUSTOMERS AND PLEASE DONT COME OUT WITH UNLIMITED OR MASSIVE USAGE PLANS, YOU SIMPLY DONT HAVE THE REQUIRED INFRASTRUCTURE FOR THAT.

Vodafone kills me on a daily basis. My Blackberry disconnects and reconnects to the vodafail network more than 10 times a day. SMS and Voicemail notifications are delayed by hours. Calls drop-out all the time.

987 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is 95% fail - Voda-Phonies more like at 19 Dec 2010 10:48:59 AM
before moving to Darwin, I checked the 3G coverage maps on the vodafone website. Apparently, most of Darwin has 100% coverage.
Not so.
Coverage in Darwin is pretty much the CBD and a few central suburbs. I can only make and receive calls in my fofice at the centre of town. And if I want to surf the net on my Blackberry, again, it is only in the centre of town and it is SLOW.
The coverage maps are completely false adn innacurate adn now I have to keep paying this $70 a month plan for the next 12 months - even though i have no coverage! (if anyone would from Vodafone woudl like to chat, am more than happy for you to look up my phone records to see how many calls get successfully get made),
Vodafone are Vodaphonies - complete ripoff for no service, andnow way to get out of their contracts
28 Dec 2010 07:36:35 AM: I hated Vodafone when i was in Darwin but as I hate Telstra even more, and was used to poor service being born up there, I stuck it out. Recently moved to Queensland and guess what? reception is as bad if not worse!

Sat 11th Dec - Perth CBD - 1130 to 1930 that night phone says full service yet when people called us the call disconnected, no calls in no calls out. A week later only after complaining online get this "response"/"excuse" i QUOTE: "Whilst issues such as this are rare, please note the network is not entirely free from interruption and we are unfortunately not able to guarantee that service will be available at all times. " PATHETIC vodafone

976 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is BAD at 19 Dec 2010 09:30:09 AM
I cannot believe it. I jave been with vodafone for 5 years after being with optus and during that time they were excellent and had very good coverage. ATM i am lucky to get 3 bars on my phone..and that's when i am in the heart of the CBD. I also get SMS that are 4 days old one after another and voicemail that is even a week old. I know they have bought out 3 and are tying all the networks into one..but how much longer do we have to put up with this shonky service..its not like i am paying for a cheap service. And drop outs occur a lot!

what will happen if my wife one day is in distress and cannot get through to me..for me to get the msg 5 days later? Disgraceful and i am going back to optus.

975 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Appalling customer service at 19 Dec 2010 09:27:25 AM
I live close to the CBD and rarely make a call on my mobile that doesn't drop out at least once. About 2 weeks ago I had no service for 3 days. This was very worrying as I no longer have a landline and I was therefore unable to be contacted by family overseas when there was a crisis. I have sent numerous emails and made calls to the help desk but am always told to reboot the phone or that there is nothing wrong with the network signal in my area! I feel extremely angry that I am not receiving the service I paid for. I will certainly not be renewing with Vodafone.

974 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is getting worse at 19 Dec 2010 09:26:37 AM
I'm at Burleigh Waters, near Bond University and use Vodafone's Pocket Wi-Fi on the 8Gb/$39 offering, seems to work fine most of the time, but there have been network issues over the past few weeks with little or no signal and loss of connectivity to the net. Not using them for phone though, have iPhone on 3 with 2Gb of data, I haven't had too many major dramas with it.

Now I know why you usually have to go on a contract, it's to minimise customer attrition due to poor service or competitor activity offering better value. Contracts should be abolishes.
