Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

2010 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Mega fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:23:39 AM
No reception where we live (Chapel Hill in Brisbane). When I asked at a Vodafone store, they looked up the suburb on a website and told me there was good reception there. HA! I have to drive about 2 minutes from our house before I get proper reception.

Calls on Vodafone are constantly failing, text messages take hours to come through and voicemail messages sometimes don't come through until the next day.

I've switched to using a WhatsApp instead of texts.

Just bought a tablet and went with Telstra instead of Vodafone for that.

We'll be dumping Vodafone at the end of the contract.

2009 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Three is perfect! at 27 Dec 2010 11:23:37 AM
I've been with three with 3 years now. never had a problem with network / data speed! though they r using voda network but its goin good.
27 Dec 2010 11:34:45 AM: I was with Three for around 5 years and had no issues at all. Great reception, even in the country when no one else had it! The CSR at a three/vodafone store said that they are using different towers, and Three roams onto Telstra when there is no service available. Vodafone uses something completely different I think? Hence when I switched over... BAM no service.

2008 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Very fail! at 27 Dec 2010 11:23:30 AM
When I signed in for Blackberry Storm two tears ago, I was told that phone can be unlocked after contract. But, it is not the case; I was told by "Vodafone" that it cannot be unlocked! Very disappointing! Talk about reception, when you are in a building, you cannot receive or make any call. Bad reception after more than 10 years in Australia!

2005 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No Signal at 27 Dec 2010 11:23:21 AM
I know at least one person with every other network in my area and they all have full signal all the time, and then there is me with only one bar or no signal at all. The worst part of it is that i work a job where i have to keep my phone on me at all times, as i am on call 24/7, but just last week i almost lost my job for failing to answer a call and it wasn't the first time, all because the signal constantly drops out. I have tried to get out of my contract explaining that when i signed up, i was told my area would have full service, but it doesn't and they will not let me out of my contract unless i pay it all out. I'm sorry but i reall hate vodafone

2003 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is A disgusting big fat "fail" for me at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:51 AM
- Direct Debit via Credit Card set up and still can receive "Outstanding ammount. Unbelievable !!
- Poor reception and many times unable to make calls to my wife or my wife calling me.
- More and more unexplained line drop off or "Error in Connection" - this is disgusting given the level of service you would expect from a giant telco.
- Can never get through customer support and when you filed a complaint online; it assumes the issue is resolved unless you call back - but in the first place you can never get through.

2002 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Country Fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:41 AM
I have a Vodafone mobile, and a seldom used pre-paid Other Carrier mobile. When going to South Gippsland, I need to set my vodafone to divert to my Other Carrier when out of coverage area. Korumburra has a big tall comms tower on a hill, obviously without any Vodafone service on it. There is one small area of around 2 square metres halfway up the main street, and a similar sliver of space at the Tourist Railway Station at Korumburra that I actually get reception, otherwise its diverted my other phone which is rings for over 95% of the calls made to me when in Korumburra. I miss calls, texts, and the handset muight as well be a piece of cheese for its usefullness in this situation. OTHERWISE I don't have any problems with it, except the 1555 call and data usage SMS service is often out of action or takes sometimes up to an hour to reply

2000 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is bottom of the pits at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:37 AM
Well, after they couldn't manage to send me a single bill and after 5 months of me hounding them for one, they disconnected my account for failing to pay up... then came the $1000 unexplained bill notification via text message, with a threat to disconnect me AGAIN, for failing to pay a bill I had never received...this was 3 months worth of bills that they still refuse to explain, even after I was advised to raise my cap limit to keep bills manageable ( mind you my usage never changed but the bills would vary by hundreds of dollars. If only I had known about the TIO back then. Finally after my handset broke, and they refused to help me as it was one week out of warranty (and still had about a year left on the contract), I went and got a Telstra account. Perfect service, great reception, much better than the crap I had to go through with Vodafone. Then I discovered that I also have a bad credit rating thanks to them, after trying to sort out the mess with them I just walked away and gave up, until now. After lodging a complaint with the TIO, who are fantastic, I recieved a voicemail message from Vodafone, with a request for me to contact them on a mobile number... which I did, and it was disconnected, so I contacted TIO a 2nd time. This time I got a request from Vodafone asking me to TEXT them. No reply again, so now the TIO is taking this onto a further level. Thank goodness these guys exist.

1999 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:33 AM
I live in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. Several times I have made a phone call on my phone, driven to another suburb and attempted to make another phone call only to have 'No Service' displayed across the top of my phone. I'm not talking from Maroubra to Bankstown, I'm talking Coogee to Bondi. In addition to this, I have to keep my phone on the 2G network because if I leave 3G switched on, I lose service. Vodafone you are a disgrace. This has been happening ever since I signed a contract in may. I won't be making that mistake again.
27 Dec 2010 11:26:49 AM: I live in Maroubra. and i have exactly the same issue.
At least 5 call drop outs a day, and often "no service"
and im not in an underground car park... im out in my street!

Cons:
One to no bar reception 15km from city centre. (been like this for at least 5yrs)
Delayed SMS's, sometimes many hours.
Bloody spam SMS's rom Vodafone as early as 6:18am Perth time, several around 7:00am, no human response to complaint on their website after a week.
Pro's:
Cheap, have 365 day prepaid expiry and rollover free vodafone to vodafone talk time (have about 1500 minutes currently.)

1996 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is might as well use pigeons at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:08 AM
i ordered 15 iphones for all my employees, after 2 weeks we chucked all of em, and we are with another company
the cost wasnt much but it's a pain when u cant reach a group of 15 people.
when i think about it, i think the tecknology used by vodafone is still in the 90's. these new phones will fry vodafone's network sooner or later.

i suggest to vodafone to sell itself to telstra for cheap, cause if half ur customers are complaining, means the other half is on pre paid or just dont use their mobile like a pensioner or something like that.

as for customers, the only thing u'll get out of vodafone is all ur money back, vodafone wont be investigated, they will have the rug pulled from under em without them even noticing

1995 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Huge fail at 27 Dec 2010 11:22:07 AM
We had signed up to Vodafone when we got our Iphones and were told that we would have full coverage in our area we have forever since had problems with our coverage as well as our data plan and not being able to use the internet.
We spoke to Vodafone and all they could tell us was "we havent had anyone coming to us with problems about coverage and that all you can do is reset your phones and see if that helps and if not you will have to put it in to get fixed"
We are really not happy with Vodafone and would like to go to another company but we are locked into a contract with Vodafone.. so we are paying for something that is not what we signed up for.

When I am at home in Blackburn - Victoria, there is no network understandable, but when I was at the MCG (Melbourne Cricket Ground) in the middle of the melbourne city, I see huge amount of advertisement of vodafone but when I tried calling or logging onto internet from my phone no network at all, can you believe you are in the middle of the city and no network, you can only get this problem with VODAFONE!!!! such as disgrace, misleading the customers by false advertisement and sponsoring cricket to misguide common man.

My visual voicemail for iphone dropped out 6 months ago and was replaced with normal voicemail. Now I receive notice of voice messages upto 8 hours after message was left. Then the message states an incorrect date and time which the message was left. This on top of constant service dropouts. I can only access a 3G network for data around 40% of my time. I am almost totally now reliant on wifi for data.

Its got so bad, i bought a pre-paid Telstra phone last week, just so i could call friends and family for christmas!!!
As i type, sitting in my own house, within the metro area, i cannot make a call or send a message, oh and look, a voicemail message just popped up!!! From 3 bloody days ago!!!!!!!

Nice work Vodafail, looking forward to ending my contract soon, and telling everyone i know, to never ever use any products or services supplied by your retarded company!!!!

1991 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Reception Deception at 27 Dec 2010 11:21:27 AM
I live in Kalgoorlie, WA.

ONLY VODAFONE requires that you have to move about to get useable reception - from around the inside the house to standing in the driveway.

The Vodafone-trained employees at Vodafone Kalgoorlie ARE NOT interested in faults, only in Sales. They also have VERY limited product knowledge, especially phone features.

And, don't you just love the "typewriter" sound effects "Lara" gives you when you call for an account balance - talk about antiquated.

Last, but not least, Phone Bank is phone wank, Vodafone must have taken a leaf out of the Banks when developing this rip-off.

1989 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is crap at 27 Dec 2010 11:21:22 AM
I was with vodafone for many years and i was a good customer then the calls started dropping out and my reception would go for 30 minutes at a time. When i emailed vodafone they gave me the run around saying check my phone and that would be the problem and then telling me use other phones or try other places in my house i did this and i knew it was just a load of crap as i had tried all this previously. The problem was them and it was when i called and they would not do anything but tell me i had to try things like other phones i would and they still did nothing when i said i was changeing to another provider they said well you do that. So the people vodafone has taking complaints from another country are not filtering the complaints through to the people here obviously thsi shows how you cant just put call centres overseas they dont always do the job but hide the problems it has been since this has happened that my service has become so bad i changed to optus.

1988 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Failure at 27 Dec 2010 11:21:06 AM
Hi - I'm a Telstra customer and want to thank Vodafail. I've never had a issue with Telstra and coverage is always brilliant. However, times are tough and Telstra are more expensive than other networks which made me think about cheaper options. I've noticed lately that a now desperate Vodafone is saturating print media with bargain offers to join their network. If it wasn't for the great work Vodafail is doing, I would have been conned into joining Vodafone to take advantage of the cheap pricing. I'm not spruiking any particular network - just want to thank Vodafail.com for sparing me unending anguish, despair and extreme anger!

Vodafone's network keeps dropping out on me, when im in my room when im in the car or when im walking or standing still. I was in a very important interview with William Angliss Institute over the phone and suddenly within the last few moments of the interview I was cut off completely. Not only is this bad PR for Vodafone but its completely embarrassing for me because I had to mention that it was the networks fault for being rude and being the reason why I was cut off. Not to mention when i was complaining about the network to the customer service, what do you think happened? my coverage was cut off again then I rang again and had to wait a further 40 mins because of the phone waiting period. Then they had the nerve to blame it on my Blackberry and asked the network coverage is mostly likely due to your handheld.... no its not its your own coverage.... they are seriously screwed.

1984 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is below par at 27 Dec 2010 11:20:38 AM
Since upgrading to a touch-screen smart phone, I'm surprised how many people I've spoken to about how poor the data performance is on Vodafone, in and around Melbourne. I know people with Android (HTD), Windows, Apple and Nokia smart phones and are all on Vodafone and the performance is just expected to be less than average.
I've since started working with several people using the same phones on the Telstra network and performance and coverage is between 2-5 times better at all times.
3 months left of a Vodafone contract and I'll be switching away, for good.

1983 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 11:20:27 AM
Since Vodafail took over 3 we have been experiencing all the same issues as Vodafail customers. We are at a point where we are so over the dropped calls, no reception and other service fails that we may have to go back to Telstra. Unfortunately, when a company takes over another you don't have a say (of course) but in this case, there should be some system for cancelling contracts etc. We left Vodafone years ago and had never planned to go back and now are stuck until contract runs out.

1982 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is very at 27 Dec 2010 11:20:20 AM
we entered a contract 18 Months ago for 7 Phones spread across our business and Family in 3 States, when we signed the contact we told the Sales Person that we ( Myself and mywife) travelled in our Caravan (Grey Nomads) it was stated that we would have no problems would and get service in 95% of Populated areas, our experience has been NOT TRUE and lie, we have many instances recorded with Vodafone McLaren Vale only 20KLm from Adelaide, Right up the East Coast of NSW after leaving Melboure till be reached Wollongong NO SERVICE
On calling at Votafone Offices even their Staff acknowledge the lack of Service Towns like Tamworth, Orange etc if you are 4-5 Klm out of town you lose Service,
In Addition one of the Phone User who lives in the Tweed Area has problems with Service in that Area
Users i n Adelaide, Sydney, have problems with Service and Data reception
Drop out on all phones is common
On a recent visit to Sydney we where at Strathfield NO Reception inside you had to go outside to use the phone Now this is 15KLm from the GPO
One Votafone Office told us to put the phone on 2G when 3G did not work, My wife and myself have our Phones on 2G most of the time
We are at Victor Harbor at the moment and only get Service on 2G
Now we paid for a Service on 3G that is why we have iphones
Drop out is common say 75% of calls
Lack of Service for Data is Common
our email is johngreen48@bigpond.com
27 Dec 2010 11:51:45 AM: If you think that McLaren Vale is 20 km form Adelaide then you need to change tape measure companies.
27 Dec 2010 01:09:29 PM: Dude, you don't get 3g service in Victor because you didn't buy a phone that is compatible with Vodafone's rural 3g network. Such phones must run on 900Mhz 3g. The iPhone 3g is not one of these.

1978 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Just generally... at 27 Dec 2010 11:18:47 AM
Thought I'd add my two cents worth. I've been with a few other providers but this is undoubtedly the worst. The justification I made to myself was the daily drop outs and poor data reception was just a fact of using a discount provider (I only call them discount as they are cheaper than Telstra). Can't say I'm happy about it, I drive to and from work (in Brisbane) the trip takes 20 minutes and I have never (sounds like a generalisation but it isn't) been able to conduct a conversation for that full length of time without it dropping out, breaking up, one person not able to communicate or turn into very loud unintelligible audio squawk (which is pretty bad in an ear piece while I'm driving). Saw your site promoted on the ABCnews site. Nice idea... good luck.

1976 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is #fail many times at 27 Dec 2010 11:18:31 AM
We run our business mobiles through vodafone and it was the worst thing we ever did. Continually we receive drop outs, calls that never come through, voicemail which either never arrives or appears on the phone some many hours later. 3G receiption and coverage is very poor around the city and surrounding suburbs and a lot of the time i have to turn off 3G on my phone just to make a voice call. Vodafone has got to be the worst mobile network I have ever experienced and we will be moving our business phones to Telstra come Feb 2011 when our contract is up. Good luck vodafone you're going to need it.

Just about every call I receive or make fades out and then drops out at some point. It's hurting my business.

However the trouble seemed to start when I changed phones to a new iPhone - so I'm not totally sure if it's the phone or the network.
27 Dec 2010 11:38:21 AM: It's the network - Iphone mostly works on 3G and VF's has the worst 3G coverage.See if you can chage its setting to 2G.

1966 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Gross negligence at 27 Dec 2010 11:16:48 AM
No reception, no service, no support, what network?
I was happy for many years with Vodafail, they provided a viable alternative to Optus & Telstra. But somewhere between being the new kid on the block and the failed service provider they are today, Vodafail forgot that they were in the telco space and started to ride on the back of 'you have contract, you will stay & you will pay'. With extreme wait times to speak with staff who have no skill or understanding of issues, an inability to make or receive calls (Hobart) I have left my mobile on permanent divert to my landline in hope that at least some people can get to my message bank 101. Unfortunately a contract is locking me in, hopefully with enough contracts coming up for renewal over the next 12 months, Vodafail will soon be a distant memory for all Australians and the other carriers will learn from this mess that Australian consumers are learning to stand up for their rights.

I have been with vodafone for 10yrs now and in the last 6 months i have been having trouble. When my phone states that i have full reception i can only ring emergency numbers then all of a sudden i will have 1 bar of reception and no ability to use my phone at all. This can happen anywhere up to twice a day sometimes more. Sometimes it is fixed in under 5 mins but there have been times when it has stuffed up for hours on end not good when i have a bipolar 13yr old and a 1 yr old son that need my ability to use my phone. I can handle my msg's taking forever to get to me but i need the ability to call someone incase something happens to my kids. It is becoming a joke honestly

1942 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is THE WORST! at 27 Dec 2010 11:11:53 AM
Okay I have been with three for a long time and had decent reception, but now my reception is sh*thouse! and when i do have reception i am roaming (in areas that clearly should be and are 3G areas!!!) and the fees for calling in a roaming area are actually ridiculous.

And also, whilst technically I am still with 'three' it was PROMISED to my mum that if she renewed her cap and signed up with Vodaphone the calls would be free (the free minutes)

however i still continue to be charged for calling my mum thats on Vodaphone from my vodaphone/3 sim, instead of the minutes being deducted from the free minutes as told!!! grrrr. stop charging me $3 for 2minute calls that you said are free?? with no fixing?? get your heads on!!!
27 Dec 2010 11:23:34 AM: You need to be on 3's new cap plans to get free calls to Vodafone
27 Dec 2010 12:45:17 PM: Ok your mum got what she was promised free calls to you and anyone else on 3 and Vodafone where as you who haven't resigned or changed your rate plan would be on your original terms and conditions and just get free minutes to people on 3 so maybe you should get your head on and actually think about it. You can do a rate plan change to the new terms and conditions without lengthening your contract term by making a call to customer care.

I have just read the article where a Vodafone refers fo poor network coverage for the last few weeks. This is completely inaccurate as the poor service has been going on for years. I was still charged for service I didn't receive and had to make several phonecalls to the customer service where I was given the run-around and told to switch the handset off and various other things that didn't work. I am now no longer with Vodafone for this reason.

I have been fighting Vodafone over the poor coverage and reception in metropolitan Adelaide. After leaving Optus for 17 years, I was promised better service and coverage at the same or lower cost. The Vodafone service is the worst I have ever experienced in Adelaide & Melbourne with costs far greater than Optus & Telstra. I have managed to at least my service over to Telstra and receive a great service.
I will provide any documentation to prove the disastrous 18 months I have endured with Vodafone!

Not a vodafone customer, but a 3 customer (for the last 4 years). Since 3 joined forces with Vodafone, my reception has greatly decreased. As example, until recently I had perfect reception in Newman, WA. This year, shortly after the amalgamation of the two companies, I now have NO RECEPTION in Newman, WA, and limited reception in parts of Perth, WA.
27 Dec 2010 07:04:21 PM: you live in the middle of nowhere get a telstra phone and stop complaining about something thats easily fixed

I continually experienced network drop outs as well as no 3G coverage in Mount Eliza, Victoria. I contacted Vodafone several times to try to have this issue resolved. In the end, I cancelled my contract and changed to Telstra.
I also informed the TIO who referred me to the resolution department of Vodafone. I offered to return my iPhone and to walk away from the contract. Vodafone, after several weeks of emails, offered me to purchase the iPhone and to get out of the contract.

Side by side with my friends optus iphone, illustrated just how poor the service has been. it was a good 35 seconds behind his phone when we clicked on the same site.

I have also had issues of not receiving text messages until a good 24 hrs after they were sent. I would and still get occasionally a whole block of texts ie 5 or 6 sms's in a row the next morning.

Im not happy at all with vodafone/3 at all...i cannot wait for my contract to be up...its optus or telstra from now on even if i have to pay a bit more!!!

1922 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Mind Numbing at 27 Dec 2010 11:05:57 AM
I live to South East Queensland and I seem to at times have good reception the other days it seems to be crap and all of it is inconsistant and frustrating. I can be out for work and trying to use my mobile to call back to work and it drops out as someone answers the phone or the txt messages wont send but after 3-4 tries it finally works.
Not only that I called the customer 'Care' line to order a new phone and went through all of the usual rigmarole to get it. They told me it would be delivered in 2 weeks. When that time passed I still had no phone so I called back and they told me that there was an issue on the system, an error so my order never happened. They couldnt explain what had happened and they dont know why no one bothered to make contact and let me know this had happened. Still they said in 24-48 hrs they would call me and replace the order when it cleared from the system. That never happend either. So for 3 months this same thing went on and on. I would call and they would tell me the same story. In the end I got annoyed and demanded answers. The 'supervisor' told me I could finally go into a store and pick up the phone. But ofcourse my local store had been closed for a refit and the nearest ones were 1.5 hours away and I didnt have a car. I told her that and she said that there is nothing they can do so either wait til the error was fixed or my store reopened. When th store reopened, I went in and told them that Iv been waiting 3 months for a phone and was told to come in, they had not been told any of the information. The store assistant had to spend another hour on the phone to see if I could have my new phone. I changed to vodafone because I was told good things about there recption and service but both have been crap since I joined. 3 months for a phone come on, really!

1916 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Failtacular at 27 Dec 2010 11:04:11 AM
- Marginal (1 bar) 3G reception across huge swathes of inner north Canberra. Even drops back to GPRS quite often in these areas (Northborne Ave corridor, particularly between Haig Park and Macarthur Ave). I mean cmon, this is barely 2 km out of the CBD! 2G has strong 5 bars everywhere but VF's 3G capacity in this area is a joke.

- Even if there is strong reception, data speeds are still shocking. Was sitting in the middle of Canberra City the other day with 5 bars 3G but was unable to refresh Twitter or even load the Google homepage. These activities require a few kB at most, so this is indicative of some ~major~ network congestion.

- VF Mobile Internet APN (vfinternet.au) is not too bad, but their default 'phone' APN (live.vodafone) is s-l-o-w. Makes smartphone users second class citizens behind broadband dongle users. Not fair.

30 Dec 2010 10:02:44 AM: if your in a black spot you can get out of your contract with no charge at all. Black spot customers are let out of the contract. DONT TELL a sales rep that your going to TIO (they dont care honestly) ring vodafone (as painful as it maybe) and let them know that your taking them TIO and ask to speak to a team leader. works everytime.

I live on the Central coast (of NSW) and cannot get consistent reception in my house, meaning I have to go outside to make calls and if its worse than usual even to send/receive text. Living in a densely populated area only an hour North of Sydney it would seem logical to have reasonable coverage but there are many No Service areas on the Coast. I do alot of commercial work in shopping centres etc and rarely have reception at work. I have been with Vodafone for 10 years but as I get older and have integrated smart phones and their technologies into my life it is becoming more apparent that Vodafone do not offer a comprehensive or suitable service.

I live in prestons NSW and I never get a decent Internet connection on my phone. It's either a fraction of a bar when 3G appears on the screen and 99% of the time it is the dodgy slow Edge network where I can barely navigate to any site. Also I'll be holding my phone in the same position and the a phone call will just disconnect a number of times and internet connection just keeps going and coming. I've seen the no network message thousands of times and NO vodafone I don't live in a cave. I will be in a suburban area close to the city where you expect a decent connection!

We (try to) use vodafone as our mobile service provider though Transact as part of our total utilities package. First problem - I used 'Transact', 'vodafone' and 'service' in the same sentence. We can't even get mobile coverage in the middle of town! We are not on a contract so the easiest thing for us to do switch, much as it galls me to say this, to Telstra. If enough other Transact customers also withdraw from vodafone, maybe Transact will wake up and join the fight. Right now Transact is just happy to take our money and blame vodafone for the problems.

1907 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is Different at 27 Dec 2010 11:01:59 AM
I've been reading a few posts on here and thought there needed to be a little clarification. Although 3 and Vodafone merged into VHA a while ago the networks themselves are still separate. No changes were made to combine them etc, so blaming the merger for affecting 3's coverage is incorrect. 3's network is still a combination of 3 towers and Telstra towers, and will be until around mid next year when the contract between 3 and Telstra ends.

Hopefully that will clear up a little confusion.

I signed up to 3 a year and a bit ago and they always had wonderful coverage and fast internet, but we all unwillingly got changed to vodafone when they merged and now I'm hating on everything! Half the time I have almost no reception, occasionally it will decide to have some but then it goes again! The internet is very temperamental, and needs to be in exactly the right spot to work at all.
Something needs to be done! I think especially 3 customers who had no choice in this should be able to break contracts so we can get a decent provider..
27 Dec 2010 11:04:16 AM: As mentioned above the networks are still separate, the only way you would have been changed to Vodafones network would be if you requested it and resigned a contract. They wouldn't have just moved you over.

I travel between Darwin and Perth. I have a vodafone toggle for my computer access.
I bought it in Darwin about a year ago and the speed and reception was Ok but has been steadily getting worse as they sell more. It is hopeless in the evenings (when everyone gets on it i presume) and also seems to be weather sensitive. Yes i went through the hanging on the phone trying to contact them before I worked out for myself what was going on because they didnt tell me this one. I now ask and complain the old fashioned way with a stamp and envelope and still don't get the truth. I went through the same thing in Perth with them telling me i was in a reception shadow but i was actually on the top of a hill with line of sight to the tower!
Recently the Perth reception North Perth/Coolbinia has improved greatly...using it now.
I bought a subscription for a year 6 months ago. I will have to go to telstra when it expires. Although it costs more it is a whole lot better.

Try to downgrade your contract. I previously lived away hence needed my cap upgraded to the $99 and when I moved back to my family I requested to drop to the $29 cap. This would cost me $760 odd, turns out you have to cancel current contract then start another 24month cap. This was all explained to me apparently when I signed up and written in the fine print somewhere..... as argued to me by the Indian call centre. I did cancel my contract, payed the charges however I just changed carriers instead of starting a new 24month term.
Reception inside buildings in Wagga Wagga was non-existant unless you are in the town centre, other regional towns just as bad and the outdoor reception and call quality is far below par.
Vodafone will never see my business again.

The Top Ryde Shopping Center has had no mobile coverage inside it's doors for Vodafone customers for nearly 8 months. When I rang Vodafone to find out why this was, they told me that it was not their fault. It was the Shopping Center itself that had not turned on the internal transmitters and, despite several requests from Vodafone, they refuse to turn them on. Now for a new center that is trying to get customers through the door this sounded very strange to me. So I rang the center to find out why they were not turning them on. Spoke to a lovely girl there who said that they were quite happy to turn on the transmitter for Vodafone, but they had to pay the fee for it's use like all the other mobile companies and that they had refused to do so. If this is not a case of leaving your customers out to dry for what must be peanuts compared to what they make out of us everyday, then I don't know what is.

Signed up for a USB wifi modem with Vodafail about 5 months ago and had terrible reception, way too slow to watch videos, often dropping out and just not connecting at all for hours in Bentleigh. Also found that I cannot plug the USB diectly into my mac or it just freezes the computer. When I use it on my pc, if it goes into sleep mode, I can't reconnect to the internet without shutting down the entire computer. Also can't start the computer with USB stick plugged in or it crashes.
After a couple of months the stick just wouldn't connect at all. We took it into the shop and got a temporary one which didn't crash our computers. When we received a permanent replacement (a completely new USB stick) it crashes our computers the same way the old one did. We went back to the store and they said there was nothing they could do as it was a new stick and should just work.

Thanks Vodafone.

Constant loss of network and no reception inside the house. We live in Shenton Park - how hard can that be?

Vodafone used to be good. Really. They did. As opposed to 3 (who are now part of Vodafone in a bizarre twist), who were expensive, had little to no coverage, and whose IT depatment made chimps look like engineers.
For some reason, and only in the past 5 or so years, Vodafone has gone really bad.
Coverage can only be described as crap, the word "plan" is used very loosely, and "customer service" seems to be an outdated, frowned upon method of solving a problem.
Personally, I think I have only suffered as much as the next person, but it is the fact that we are suffering at all that bothers me!
Why do I think sitting on the phone for "18 to 23 mintues" is acceptable? Especially when that seems to translate to approximately 45 to 90 minutes, and just in waiting time. Why do I just accept the fact that I can no longer use the email function on my iPhone unless I go into the Safari application and log on from there, apparentley because "Vodafone no longer supports that function", even though it did so just fine for 3 months!? And why do I also accept the fact that every second month or so, I "accidentially" get charged an astronomical amount, have a 40 minute conversation with Vodafone's tech support who unable to give any type of assurance whatsoever, and then I'm surprised when it happens again!?
Thank you for a place to share this Adam Brimo! Hopefully I will get away from Vodafone before my 30th birthday!
27 Dec 2010 11:00:17 AM: It would appear that the time has come for Vodafone to get out of the mobile telephone industry and go back to Cleaning Lavatories
27 Dec 2010 11:12:51 AM: If they Don't They Should Well do anything BUT run a mobile telephone service

Poor reception all the time - in the parliamentary triangle, the airport precinct and Kingston generally.
Terrible customer service, after waiting in phone queue I was hung up upon right after they answered the phone. Twice.
the same device on the telstra network - both with full bar reception gives 400kbps down on Vodafail and 8000kbps for data downloads. But I don't even get 3g in my own house... (hebel brick, top floor of apartment). What's the point of having 2Gb data allowance if you can't even download that much if you try.

1870 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Awfull reception at 27 Dec 2010 10:45:42 AM
My wife and I have been with Vodafone since our first mobiles. Reception has steadily deteriorated over last few years to the point where we get little or no reception in or around our house. My daughter has new phone and is with V/F also, and has same problems in lots of places around Perth. So prblem is not due to older phones. Contacting V/F is difficult to say the least. After sending an email to complain, they sent me a reply which was clearly designed to make it so dificult for me to answer that I gave up! I am sure that is what they wanted. Vodafone, it's time to accept that things are wrong and start fixing them!

1869 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Vodafone Telco Robbers at 27 Dec 2010 10:45:03 AM
Great site: I have been a Vodafone custoer for far too long. Its time Vodafone provided a better service. Patchy coverage in regional OZ even on highways. Even Virgin coverage seems better. Patchy coverage in innercity Melbourne, calls dropping out and very slow data. Plus the appalling service from the automated telephone system. I have also had bill paying problems when I was charged twice in 2009 when I tried to pay my bill via the phone. I also love the wY they charge when I am on global roaming. This us a company that deserves to have it's brand trashed for it's contempt for it's customers.

1866 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Network performance at 27 Dec 2010 10:43:16 AM
Well I heard from a very trusted source Vodafone is replacing the whole ailing Nokia (NSN) 2G/3G network with a Chinese vendor who was half the price of the NSN bid. God help Vodafone...

Everyone is focussed on Vodafone but friends of mine had similar network failures on Optus who also have the same Nokia/NSN network...

The ACA should bring back the % of dropped and failed 2G call benchmarks all the carriers had to submit to the ACA to be published to the public. Since the three carriers built their 3G networks the ACA does not force the carriers to publish their % of dropped and failed 3G 'voice' AND 'data' calls?? ACA it is your job to look after the public objectively!!

1865 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is pretty average at 27 Dec 2010 10:42:56 AM
Coverage just below the brewery in South Hobart, one suburb out from the city is close to zero. Pretty disappointing. Looking into switching to Telstra so i can make calls at home without it dropping out and out of the city where there is no Vodafone coverage

1864 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Annoyingly fail at 27 Dec 2010 10:42:40 AM
My brother and I cannot get calls or texts while in buildings, yet our phone's reception bars say we have reception. When you try to call us, it tells you that our "vodafone mobile has been switched off." Lies! I do not like Vodafone lying on my behalf.

Was on the highway yesterday and accidentally dialled someone. Using the iPhone, when you get messages you must click to either "view" or "close" the dialog box that pops up before operating anything else on the screen. Well, after making this accidental call and trying to hang up, useless vodafone must have connected and I got a sudden influx of a dozen messages from the past few days I had been inside a building. I couldn't hang up because of the constant dialog boxes popping up. What a joy it is to be with Vodafone.

I don't like how Vodafone is keeping quiet about all these problems. At least offer us free credit or bandwidth or those gifts they used to offer. Useless PR.
27 Dec 2010 10:44:01 AM: Note: I wasn't the one driving while on the highway.
