Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

3085 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Embarrassingly so at 27 Dec 2010 03:25:53 PM
I signed up to Vodafone because it used to be the least expensive and most widely used mobile service provider. Now, I experience dropped calls multiple times daily and strange intermittent network interruptions in areas wherein previously I had full coverage (full bars on my phone). I can stand still in one spot and watch the number of bars of reception rise and fall dramatically on my phone in areas where I'd never had a problem before. And such problems began for me right about the time that Vodafone merged with 3 Mobile. And what's most infuriating is that Vodafone's customer service is impossible to reach! The number of voice prompts one must go through on the automated system just to reach a real human is excessive, and even worse is the fact that wait times to speak with said human customer service agents have been up to 1.5 hours! I went to the Vodafone shop where I bought my phone and even the staff there told me "Mate, I once waited on hold for two hours when I had to call on the behalf of a customer." Now that's just embarrassing! Australia is a Developed Country so how can this be the case with one of its major mobile service providers?!

3081 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 03:25:21 PM
I live on Bribie island which is between Brisbane and the sunshine coast. On a clear day I can see Brisbane! And the Vodafone map says I get coverage. Yet my coverage is almost non-existent. In most rooms in the house I get no coverage. In the rooms I get coverage I will loose it if I put the phone in a pocket

I have a iphone 3G and it often has NO SERVICE for extended periods of time. I was without coverage for at least 3 hours. People were trying to contact me but couldn't because of the stupid no service. I checked the website to see if everything was working alright around Australia and the map said there were no problems, so why did this happen? It's happened several times! Very frustrating!!

3074 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is I must be in the 0.47% area ! at 27 Dec 2010 03:24:20 PM
Vodafone claims to cover 99.53 % of Metro areas. So how come I keep coming into the 0.47% region so often ? However not wanting to simply moan lets get specific I live in a Sydney suburb Clontarf. Driving home through Balgowlah I know the precise location of three drop out points in less than 2Km. Even along Military Rd just past Mosman Junction going north Drop out, Going south on Roseville Bridge, drop out. Cherrybrook - drop out. And hey this is not confined to Sydney. Recently in Cairns, driving from Mission beach to Cairns - no signal all the way until well into Cairns - check the coverage map - or should I say the purported coverage map and its all in the blue - but hey it no work despite the optimism of the map. And to and to my anger of course partners phone with Telstra worked 100%. Even today writing this from Crows Nest NSW - not exaclty a rural location - my Vodafone ( iphone ) signal strength 1 bar - coworker on TLS signal strength 4 !

Now we all know we went to Vodafone cos we got a great deal - and of course I asked about the coverage as friends told me it was poor ( if only I had listened to them ) but the sales guy told me that in poor reception areas the phone would switch across to TLS - and I believed him !!!!!!!!!!

Then to add injury to all this pain there are at least 2 occasions a day when it just does nothing - I dial and I wait - and the screen just looks at me and sits there. Seems like a congestion issue to me. Just keep on dialing in the end you get through - persistence is what counts.

Then finally to all you users BE AWARE of the overseas charges - I racked up over $5K whilst in the UK for less than two weeks ( Mostly internet charges ). At least in Europe they have laws to prevent such rip offs. Of course you cant challenge them - they own all the technology to prove you are wrong.

I have had mobile phones since the days they were literally a suitcase in the boot of the car, the old 0055 numbers, I have used Telstra, Optus, and now Vodaphone - believe me when this contract expires - I wont be renewing it.

I can usually get txts in the house but can never receive a call. I have to go outside and stand near the rubbish bins (appropriate) or get in my car and start driving up the street. My daughter, who is with Telstra, doesn't have problems with reception in the house.

3068 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Failus Maximus at 27 Dec 2010 03:23:57 PM
Poor reception in Melbourne CBD)
I've been with vodafone for 4 years now - prepaid. Which I've put up with for this long because I was a student.
Now, I work in aged care units around the Melbourne inner city area. Cheltenham, Hawthorn, Dandenong, Richmond... NO RECEPTION INSIDE at all! Very roublesome, as I have to rush outside to make a call (rain, checking in/and out of security) to update my supervisor => Vodafone useless for work, will be changing in the new year.

Also, a friend lives in Heidelberg Heights - in Melbourne proper. Never been able to get a signal within his propery. I have to walk 30 metres out of the house to the street and wave the phone over the road to send *every* SMS - I've been doing this for 3+ years! Smoke-signals would be more efficient.

Had a family emergency out there recently where I *NEEDED* to use the vodaphone a lot in a critical period of time. Damn useless P.O.S. Couldn't make calls out, or receive very important calls. Made a distressing situation a lot worse. Vodafone mobile was as useless a brick - can't even use it as a door stop!

3067 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is frustrating at 27 Dec 2010 03:23:49 PM
I am stuck on a plan with vodaphone. i have not called to complain, as my in my past experience i end up speaking to someone overseas who can barely understand english, the call is delayed and i get no-where. i have spoken to the staff in store who are unable to help in any way and only direct to me the customer service line..My phone has no coverage at my sisters house which is about 20ks away from where i live . I spend alot of time there as i am currently unwell. It is very stressful when the hospital and friends are unable to contact me,and for me it is frustrating that I can not keep intouch with everyone. I was with Telstra, and now wish i had stayed with them as i did not have these issues in the past.I also had issues with my phone. In the first case i returned it after a couple of weeks, as there was very little memory and the battery would last a day if i was lucky and still does. I was only able to swap for the same phone, which is the worst phone i have ever had.I can not be bothered going in again as the last time i tried, they need send the phone away and they do not have replacements...SO basically, I have about 18months until i can get out of this plan, and go back to Telstra.ARGH!

I signed up to vodafone over the phone, they called my 3 mobile offering me a better deal than what i was getting on 3. i was paying 73 dollars a month with 3. they offered me my first 3 months for free as i had to end my contract early with 3. so i signed up thinking i was getting my first 3 months for free and the dude from the call centre also said i was getting free calls to 1300 and 1800 numbers and all that. i received a text message from vodafone saying i owed them nearly $130 bucks when i was on a $79 unlimited cap. yeh right. i rang up to complain, being on hold for nearly an hour!! so i went with another phone company which i have had no trouble with.
I also get reception which i didnt get while being with vodafone. also i received a dodgy handset which nackered itself after not even a month of me using it and the battery wouldnt last 2 days so i was constantly charging it.

3057 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is painfull at 27 Dec 2010 03:22:32 PM
I have been with voda for 4 years now.
Only have a few signal problems, mainly at my fathers in pakenham as the repeater is at the far side of town. telstra and optus have good signal.
Voda 3g is a joke, turned off the 3g setting in my phone and makes it a lot more reliable and better battery life too.
I have had a few instances of network busy when trying to connect.
Think the biggest problem is the changes made to accomidate these f'n iphones, the network was a lot better before they came along.

3054 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is poor reception at 27 Dec 2010 03:21:51 PM
I moved from Brisbane to Adelaide and use an internet USB for ease of portability. I currently live less than 5 klms from the centre of Adelaide and suffer frequent drop outs and 'very poor' reception. It fluctuates from 2G to 3G then drops out. This happens at least 20, if not more times a day. Impossible to stay connected to the internet and takes for ever to build a page. I sort information from a Vodafone store and was told the sim card needed changing. This was done in store but didn't solve my problem. My USB works fine just one suburb away at my sons home. Bad form vodafone - I'm a very unhappy customer.

3050 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 90% at 27 Dec 2010 03:20:59 PM
My town receives ONE BAR of reception - enough to receive a message but not a call. Plus, when I go to send a message the one bar usually disappearsd and I have to wait up to five minutes before it will find a signal and send. When I drove 15 minutes to work in the next town I have full reception. Thus I can only use my phone completely between 8am and 4pm.

I live in Sorrento and since being with Vodaphone I can only get reception if I go out the front and start walking down the road. I can send messages and receive them in the house, but no phone calls. Very frustrating and hopefully will never need to call in an emergency situation. When I first started the contract with Vodaphone I did tell me of my problem. They were sympathetic, but sorry not much you can do about it.

I also have problems with my phone dropping out as well as my internet. Usually the internet is the worse... after making many repeated calls only to be told that my area has 100% coverage. Also when speaking on the phone it will cut out randomly or just fade in and out so that the other person on the phone hears me sporatically. I live right by the city - not out in the country. This is not good enough! Thanks for setting up this site... It's nice to know that others have these problems too. Let's hope together we can help to improve the service.

I'll be going straight back to Telstra as soon as i can get out of my contract, i don't care how much they charge at least i can make calls when i need to.

i work in the film industry, and joined vodafone because of what i thought was an amazing cap deal they were offering. I use my phone, ALOT, And need to be contacted 24/7, so thought there 114 cap a month was great.

Ever since i have joined after leaving telstra, all i have experienced is TERRIBLE coverage, (coming from telstra its very frustrating.

I am receiving up to 7/8 voicemails in the middle of the night from messages 10 days earlier. Not good enough.

But the worst, was the deal with my cap was that i had all local phone calls included. When i bought myself an international phone card, which required me to call out from a local number, what vodafone said was in my cap, they charged me for ALL of the international calls, NOT just the local number i dialled to get out of the country. When i queried vodafone, all they said was that "that particular local number" is NOT included in the cap. WHERE did it state that in my contract, and why do they get to pick and choose what local numbers i use and dont use. I was being double charged for my international calls. Buying a phone card, and vodafone ALSO charing me.

NOT HAPPY!!!!!

3031 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bulk FAIL at 27 Dec 2010 03:18:11 PM
I have been a disgruntled Vodafone customer for approx 20 months (I am currently 'serving' a 24 month sentence/contract).

1 month after signing up to Vodafone I moved to Williamtown and then Anna Bay, thus began my frustration with the complete unreliability and inconsistency of Vodafone's reception.

Both myself and my partner are in the Australian Defence Force and for service reasons we live in different states. Our long distance relationship relies heavilly on telecommunications.

I am only able to get reception in one certain spot in my house and even then it is precarious and drops out repeatedly. This unreliability has caused me so much stress and hardship, putting strain on my relationship.

I am on an unlimited plan, costing approx $130 a month for a 'service' which is barely provided.

I am constantly frustated and dissapointed by the lack of reception I recieve with Vodafone. As part of my job I am required to be contactable 24/7 and have had to resort to buying a cheap Optus sim card and phone and use that as a back up. This is unexceptable.

I asked if I could be compensated for the loss of communication, (lost numerous clients due to the fact they couldnt reach me) and instantly, with no hesitation they said NO.

My partner and I are both with Vodafone. We constantly are unable to get hold of each other, sometimes for hours on end. This has caused no end of arguments between us until we realised we weren't ignoring our phones or had them turned off, but the network was failing us.
This also applies to our email function on our phones...just now we are sitting beside each other - i have full service, as does he. I called his phone as a test, and got the message that his phone was unavailable...clearly it wasn't as i could see he had full service.
We are both in jobs that require us to be on call overnight week about, and require us to contactable at all times during the day. Our contracts are clearly going to have to be cancelled if our oncall obligations cannot be met. well done vodafone. I can smell a cancellation coming on....

I purchased a new phone (N97 mini) with vodaphone earlier this year. All was going well until reception became crap, i would have to turn my phone off and restart it just to get my reception back. Battery life dies so so quick i cant believe it. I would go to bed and check my phone before i went to sleep and it would have a full battery life, only to wake up with it beeping because it has one bar! The phone i have has a little button on the side which you give a little flick/slide to lock and unlock, which when doing that at times the phone will freeze and i will have to take my battery out and put it back in because i cant even go to the switch off selection! Recently my icons on the menu became very small and the writing had disappeared, for no apparent reason other than 'it just did'. I have taken my phone back previously and they would send it away, i told them i need my phone for work due to calls i will recieve but they would not offer a replacement phone. I will soon be taking my phone back for a second time and hopefully they will actually care more than what they did last time. It is not fair on the customers it is not what we are paying for. We do not pay for our conversations to be, "hey its me what you .................." then be cut off. Vodaphone pick it up or you will loose many many customers.

My wife signed up with Crazy Johns, who use the Vodafone network, in Feb 2010 and has complained several times about the service to no avail, and still has 14 months to go on her contract. The coverage in the Geelong area is, according to the Vodafone map, 100%, but when we visit our Daughter in Lara she has to go outside and stand in the road to get coverage, and even then it's intermittent. Try one of the shopping centres and all she can get is Emergency numbers - what a joke. It's about time we started to fight back at these telco's over their so called 'Great Service', maybe not through a class action, but through a mass court apparance if we all refuse to pay the bills.
More constant publicity is required through all forms of the media until these jerks get their collective acts together.

3013 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is no reception at 27 Dec 2010 03:15:35 PM
For over twelve months I have had no reception in my work place and at my residential address. To send a message or make or take a phone call I have to go out to the driveway or the street to get reception. My husband also suffers the same! While out I loose reception consy=tantly and my phone turns itself off! I have tried calling the customer call centre but am constantly left on hold( when I get reception) and the Vodafdone stores offer no help at all, they say they have the same trouble. My daughter has lost work because of no reception and has since gone to another carrier while still having to pay for a contract that she cannot use. We would not recommend Vodafom=ne to anyone and think they shou;d stop sponsoring racing cars and cricket and put their cash into upgrading their system and customer service.

I get cut off regularly and my network connection does not work half the time. defeats the point of having a MOBILE phone when it doens't work half the time. I pay a lot of money making international calls and this is frustrating for my family as i get cut off a lot. very very frustrating!

3002 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extremely at 27 Dec 2010 03:14:27 PM
Myself and my partner signed up with Vodafone over 14 months ago, on 2 year contracts. Since day one, we have experienced constant conversation drop-outs, lack of coverage (regardless of what suburb we are in), extremely late delivery of texts and are unable to be reached with calls going straight to voicemail. There have been two emergency situations where I have been unable to be contacted which has been very upsetting. I have made over a dozen complaints to Vodafone with 'official investigations' being launched into my case. I was basically given an apology with no option of exiting my contract early without paying hefty fees. I recently took my case to the telecommunications ombudsman after being fed up with paying over $200 a month for NO service for the past 14-15 months. Vodafone is an absolute disgrace to paying customers.
27 Dec 2010 03:22:10 PM: You can break the contract. Tell them you are going to contact the Telecommunications ombudsmen and lodge a complaint for failing to provide the service you signed up for. Also, I am not sure how many people said that they rang me but never got through. This never used to happen when I was with '3'. Thanks vodafone for making me choose another provider when my contract expires.

I have been a customer of vodaphone for many years and over the years i have tollerated an insane amount of (insert profanity here). I have spoken to their 'customer service' (and i use the term extremely loosely) almost once a month and have spent, in total, approximately 30 hours on hold. (What a sucker i am). The service that i have received has been appalling on every level. From miscalculations on the bill, extra charges that were not explained to me, being rushed into signing a contract, trying to get through and instead getting extra charges because i couldn't get through in time, not to mention the phone bills created with other carriers because i needed to make a call and there was no reception (shocker). I have been in situations where i urgently needed to phone someone and couldn't, other situations where i was waiting on important phone calls that never came, because my phone was unable to receive calls, because once again there is no reception. The areas that i have not got reception are not remote places, far from it. I can be in the middle of the CBD and have no reception, or in a place standing next to other people who are with other providers and still have no reception, while they have full reception. I have not only had problems with the 'customer service' and phone coverage, but the actual employees of vodaphone and the hardware. The current handset i have is the second one i have had this year and it has given me nothing but problems. The people working for vodaphone are worse than second rate, i have been in the vodaphone stores to try and sort out many many various problems and the people tell me to call the vodaphone customer service number. After i explain to them that i have a life and would not like to spend it on hold listening to static that changes volume every 3 seconds they simply tell me they can't help. How bad must a company be to have an entire website dedicated to complaints. It sure does feel good to share this though. Also, if L.A.R.A was a real person i would like to slap her face.

I am locked into a 24mth contract that doesn't finish until 08/2011. From day 1, I was mislead from the sales assistant in regards to the network coverage.. I have terrible coverage every where including major cities. Vodafone have not been of any assistance in anyway and have simply stated that I have to wait the end of my contract.. I am now counting down the months to go and I will not be remaining as a customer and nor would I return or recommend their service.. I would love an early exit from my contract and also compensated for the service that I have not had.

Vodafone Tech Support have continuously told me there are no network issues.
I even read the press release from one of the heads of Vodafone who acknowledged the problem...
the call center worker hung up on me!!
Last night it took me 20 hours to recieve a picture message.

I am currently in the process of going thru the TIO. They've past the deadline to resolve it tho...

2984 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 3G reception at 27 Dec 2010 03:11:55 PM
I cannot keep my phone on 3G, it keeps dropping from 3G. I've had numerous people complain that my phone was switched off or unavailable, when it was not.

I have been able to get around this by turning 3G off. But this means I cannot get decent speed on web browsing.

For $70 a month its not acceptable and now they are offering $45 unlimited plans, so the network will become even more sluggish.

27 Dec 2010 10:21:09 PM: try being on a $114 a month and getting nothing most of the time
28 Dec 2010 05:20:25 PM: Don't happen to live in Ipswich do you?
My dropouts were so bad that I couldn't even retrieve 1 message from message bank without the call ending halfway through. After 5 attempts I went to a Vodafone shop and was told that the tower in Ipswich had a 3G problem and that it had been this way since October.
Apparently Techs are aware of this but not sure when it will be repaired. It's now Dec 28th and still no joy.
To overcome the problem I had to switch off the 3G side and my phone works fine, however it of course now affects my data speed and the data was one of the reason I phoned up with them in the first place.
29 Dec 2010 08:46:55 AM: i have the same problem with people trying to call me and not getting hold of me because it says my phone is turned off. i have missed out on extra work hours because of this and it sucks

I can't even get coverage at home. If this was a remote area, I might be less concerned, but I'm 15km from the centre of Melbourne, and in the middle of a large black spot. The answer I consistently get from Vodafone is that they cover 95.82% of the population, but this close to the city, not to have coverage? And forget 3G - I'd just be happy to get sms and phone without dropouts.

2973 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is a constant disapointment and cause for frustration at 27 Dec 2010 03:08:19 PM
I have been a vodafone customer for over 3 years simply. I've stayed so long because i've also been locked in for 2 years on contract and I thought all the phone companies in Australia were as unreliable as each other. There was I time I found it easy to call vodafone customer care and recieve a real person who actually knew what they and I were talking about. Unfortunatley these days a long gone. As a vodafone customer we are now battling with constant drop outs, regular black spots in highly populated areas, irregualar and inaccurate charging, constant mess ups on our plan details and serious interferrence in reception.

But where are we left? Vodafone seem free to balls us around as most of us are locked into contracts and their costomer service center is incappable of providing assistance! Many of us would have recieved an apology over the 4 or so hours we all lost in coverage a few weekends ago; this apology was followed up by free unlimited calls on the following saturday. However who did that actually help!? Most of us are on capped plans anyway, which we are unlikely to go over, let alone go over on a saturday outside of business or peak phone times!!

Now this is just their phone lines... try their broadband. It happens to be the slowest and most frustrating connection I have ever experienced with terrible download rates, spontaneous and regular drop out and constant error messages. Not to mention that it appears to be magically eating up all my credit very quickly!

I await for your solution vodafone!

I purchased a Nokia N series off vodafone in early 2009, whilst living at Londonderry. Before purchasing the phone they absolutely assured and promised me that it work at Somerton where I was moving to some months later.

Sadly to say, got to Somerton, no vodafone reception anywhere, when I rang them, they promised to disconnect the contract free of charge, but ho hum, they changed their mind, stating that it worked in the area I was living when purchased. They lied, cheated, and were absolutely plain rude to me, and I had to go the expense of getting another phone which worked. Needless to say, this put me under pressure, and the Vodafone went to collections as I refused to pay it. I now have to pay the b***** $1,400.00 at a $50.00 payment per fortnight out of my disability pension.

I pleaded, grovelled, explained my hubby passed away, I had to move, rental, pension, impossible to run two mobile phones. They simply did NOT care, so I am now stuck with paying these crooked idiots out the $1,500.0

Kind regards Ann Bonser

2963 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Dreadful at 27 Dec 2010 03:05:43 PM
So quite a while back (1.5 years into my contract now) I moved from Three to Vodafone because due to each company's coverage checker, I was out of Three's 3G coverage area, but was within VF's 3G coverage. This is sort of true. If I leave my phone set to use 3G, I usually only get 1 bar or no bars of 3G coverage inside my house. This means if I get a call, I have to bolt outside to answer it otherwise the call will drop when the phone switches over to 2G/EDGE.

To solve this, I have just hard-set my phone to use 2G/EDGE permanently, which of course means my data speed is hindered massively, though it also means I get full bars in my house. I don't see how I can have full bars of one and basically none of the other. Now I've heard about this class action happening, I may try calling Vodafone and try to get released from the remainder of my contract.

I tried this recently as when I bought my HTC Magic, it said we would get "Regular updates to Android", however what I really got was one update to v1.6, and then nothing for over a year. In the end I gave up on trying to find out from VF when an update would be coming out and just upgraded to CyanogenMod myself.

Useless.

Lara can't understand a word usually and goes in a loop and it takes about 3 phone calls to even get her to go to the right section. employ more real people. cut the wait lines and get 3 to pick up their act and maybe you will have your old service and reputation back.

There's poor reception in Battery Point, Sandy Bay and almost none in Taroona.

Battery Point is 2 to 3 km from the centre of Hobart.

Sandy Bay is 5 to 7 km from the centre of Hobart.

Taroona is 10 to 15 minutes...

The mess is on my Vodafone bill where I call people back repeatedly after the connection drops out. It feels like we're in some distant land like Antarctica as I call my work colleagues, friends and family back OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

The ensures I always pay more than the capped plan I signed up for for 24 months - at the time I connected with Vodafone, the company was promising multiple new towers and much imporved service.

I am a crazy johns customer..wish i wasn't. As we all know crazy johns uses the vodafone network. I am on the $79 unlimited cap, which includes 2GB data. There's not much point having 2GB data when it doesn't let you download anything over 5mb.

Furthermore, its a guessing game as to which messages actually reach recepitents, as well as messages i recieve from other people not always reaching me.

- Phone calls dropping out
- Cant download files
- Messages not being recieved
- Messages not being sent, even though it says they are.

While were on the subject, lets not all forget the Indian Operators, that almost every single phone carrier is using these days. If you have an issue, there's not point calling someone in India, as they 100% of the time have no idea whats going on, or just tell you "we are working to resolve this issue."

2947 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is HORRIBLE! at 27 Dec 2010 03:03:27 PM
I joined with Vodafone on the 11/11/10. That was the first day i had it, and the first day i had to complain. 5 hours i spent on hold that day to get my phone service hooked up (Vodafone transferring me around in cirles, from one operater to another sales operater, to complaints handeling process, i told the girl on the other line i would like to lodge a complaint, she replied "Would you like me to find out how to do that?"). After 3 days of trying myself since Vodafone did not know why i wasn't getting any signal, my phone finally worked and i got network service. It cost me $83 to call Vodafone to get my phone service hooked up, having to wait 5 hours, buying a new sim, the new sim failing, altogether this particular incident has probably cost me $150. Not to mention my bill this month which i cannot access because no matter how many times i try to register for online services to view my bill i cannot!!! And, yet again, shock horror, cannot get through to customer care. My bill this month will be small though, not being able to make outgoing phone calls, every time i try it beeps and then does not call at all, my phone drops out if a message comes through while i am in a call, it drops out if another call comes through while i am in a call, and it just plain drops out for no reason at all, is a pretty good money saver. Vodafone is by far the worst choice that i have made in a VERY long time and i want out some compensation for the 2 months (so far) of trouble it has bought me.
I have had to go out and buy a pre-paid phone (another $149 to add to the cost already spent on my bad choice of phone provider, Vodafone) to support my business when this service doesn't provide.... well anything!
Now, i will wait the estimated 10 days it will take them to reply to yet another complaint (because of the 'holidays') and hope that they come to some sort of resolution to make up the absolutely appauling service!!!!

2940 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Dont listen. at 27 Dec 2010 03:01:31 PM
I live in Echuca, have used Vodafone for over 5 years, and use 2 Nokia's Locked to Vodafone, one which is a spare because the other had to be fixed under warranty and i needed a phone, which can both access their 3G service here. But it is constantly dropping out, no signal, sms wont recieve or send, cant make a call, and it can be faulty for days. Calling Vodafone Customer Service is a waste of time as all they tell me to do is take out the sim card, clean it, turn the phone off and on, there are no network problems blah blah blah.... well im sure you have all heard it before. They treat the customers like they are stupid, i know there is nothing wrong with the phones, but they screw me around over and over, im nearly ready to switch to Telstra, at least i know their network dosn't freeze every second day. To think this is their Upgraded Network here!!!! Let me tell you, its a big pile of crap.

2938 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is the worst customer service and the definition of 'fail' in the dictionary be changed to vodafone at 27 Dec 2010 03:00:51 PM
my phone has been sending the same sms twice to people, so i tried to get the problem fixed in store, they were helpful enough and gave me a new sim to try an see if that would help but told me if it didnt i had to call them up. The new sim didnt help so I spent 25 minutes on hold to then be hung up on. I didnt have enough time to call back straight away so I tried the next day and the recording said it was over a 40 minute wait, I tried several times that day and each time was told it was over 40 minutes, same happened for the next 3 days. When I finally got through, I could barely understand the person and they told me there wasnt much they could do and suggested I delete all my sms's to see if that would help and then the final step was a master reset. They gave me a $30 credit and she told me that was all she could give me, even though I had gone through my bills and found my phone had been doing it for over 3 months and each bill had well over 60 sms sent that were doubled up.
My coverage is also crap and tells me I have no service all the time even though I am in places that I have had full reception before

2931 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Dreadful at 27 Dec 2010 02:59:39 PM
I took out a mobile Broadband contract just over a year ago. When I set it up I lived in the Northern suburbs, but then moved to East Perth; a 5 minute walk to the CBD, and coverage is now hopeless. So my service went from average when i was 2oKm out of the city, to bloody awful less than 1km from the CBD. Go figure...

2929 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is pathetic at 27 Dec 2010 02:59:24 PM
I have had mobile broadband and mobile phone services with Vodafone - stupid me! Gave up the mobile broadband, very very slow and unreliable. 6 months to go on my mobile phone contract - poor reception, internet drops out constantly in good reception areas. Customer service is incredibly hopeless, rude and very hard to get onto.

2928 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Internet connection all just a big lie at 27 Dec 2010 02:58:54 PM
After being guaranteed good Internet coverage in our area, we signed up for 24 months contract. All we have received is continuous dropouts, we cannot sustain a connection long enough to sign into email or read email, we receive a speed of less than 400 kbps and after numerous discussions with vodafone, they agreed not to charge us for Internet until the network was upgraded, we received a bill for $800 just before christmas and when we complained they could find no record of our arrangement with them. Each time we call they have no record of our calls or discussions and each time we have to start the story over again. Even though someone confirmed verbally that we did not have to pay the $800.00 bill (they left a voicemail message) the company deny knowing the staff member who left the message. Thanks vodafone for your utter incompetence.

More often than not, I can't get email, can't make calls, have phone messages arrive more than 24 hours late. Does not matter where I am - at home, on the bus, in the city - reception is a lottery.

2923 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Poor coverage at 27 Dec 2010 02:57:22 PM
Specifically asked for assurance that there was coverage in Castlemaine, Victoria, where my daughter lives, or else I wouldn't sign on with Vodafone. My phone works all the way up the Calder Freeway to - you guessed it - the Castlemaine turn-off. Complained, and was told I didn't have that in writing.

2922 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is vodafone fails in every way at 27 Dec 2010 02:57:07 PM
I signed up on a 2 year plan not quite 1 year ago, believing what was said about their coverage, they lied. We drove from Bathurst to Singleton from 5klms out of Bathurst until approx 5 mins from Singleton there were no signal except of very small pockets, and these were emergency calls only. Also the phone I received on the plan was obsolete so I couldn't get any accessories compatible with or to connect to my PC. They said I couldn't get out of the plan and there was nothing they could do about the phone, they had no control over that. I very rarely use the Vodafone phone and have gone with Telstra prepaid where I get good call amounts and data useage and coverage.

2918 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Frustrating at 27 Dec 2010 02:56:25 PM
I have been a vodafone customer for more than 10 years originally prepaid switched to a post paid plan and that was fine too took a wireless broadband contract as unable to get other internet services at my new address all worked fine for the first couple of months then slowly over the last few months the reception and signal problems have started both of these devices run on the same network however at times I can have 3g coverage on my internet and my phone has dropped to SOS other times my phone will have full 3g coverage and I can't connect the internet. That's fine I understand that it's wireless service and at times the reception will be unstable but it is getting worse and happening more frequently. My biggest problem is with the customer service had a problem with my most recent bill and spent 4 1/2 hours on hold before someone answered my call, on the positive side the person I spoke with was polite and has hopefully fixed the billing issue but I won't know until I get my next bill!

2917 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pathetic!!! at 27 Dec 2010 02:55:43 PM
I have been on vodafone contract for clost to 8 Years. Every 2 years for some reason i give them another chance and resign. my last signing was the last straw, I WILL NOT be returning once my contract is up. i have made years of constant ongoing complaints over the usual call drop outs, slow data transfer and poor reception. i have had little in the way of help from vodafone other than the usual hours of waiting on hold. The last straw was my last re-sign up, i w3as contacted by Vodafone Loyalty Team, they offered me a free phone, any one i chose if i re-signed. i told them i wanted an Iphone4, they said i could get one but they would nt be released until november-december. so i took the sony X10i, 3 yes 3 days later vodafone released the Iphone4! Firstly i have poot up with years of poor service and now i have been blatently LIED to!! Very Dissapointed!!!!!

2913 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is epic fail at 27 Dec 2010 02:54:42 PM
poor network coverage, delayed text and voice mail messages, poor customer service in stores in regard to assistance with repair work or claims, poor attitude to long term customers.
I have been with vodafone for the best part of ten years, where they used to be competitive and try to maintain present customers with special offers and deals, now they make no effort at all.
In that time also the network coverage has never improved in the slightest.
Way to lose customers vodafone!!!! soon you'll be just like telstra, but at least telstra have their network coverage better sorted than you.

2910 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Port Macquarie Service Dreadful at 27 Dec 2010 02:54:17 PM
I have a iPhone 3GS from Vodaphone which I haven't used for months (despite paying $119 per month for unlimited calls/text). The service is almost non-existant at my home/office which is only 2.5kms from the Port Macquarie CBD. Vodaphone did refund me 3 months worth of fees at the beginning of this year due to the poor service, but that hasn't helped with the rest of the fees I have had to pay. Thank God for the Telstra Next-G network which works a treat with my iPhone 4.

2907 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL USLESS A*HOLES at 27 Dec 2010 02:54:02 PM
I signed up with vodafone almost 2 years ago now on an unlimitied cap costing me $125 a month including phone insurance as I had got the new Iphone at the time.
Since being with them I have had next to no service coverage in urban areas even with towers near by, next to no internet coverage, I damaged my screen on my iphone and wanted to get it fixed, and was told by vodaphone staff that they couldnt help me because I had signed up with Vodafone at Myer stores and that I had to go back to them, even though Vodafone at Myer had since all been closed down and I told them this and they said they could not help me so I have had a smashed phone for almost a year now and still continue to pay insurance for my phone that they will not fix and constant no service TO EVEN USE MY PHONE.
It is the most abysmal service I have ever received from any company and even worse customer service and phone assistance. I want out of this contract 100% but no one in store or over the phone has been willing to help me unless i pay them obscene amounts of money to break my contract even though I can not even USE there service anyway. this has been the most asoloutley ridiculous ordeal of my life and if anyone can help me get out of this crap and get my money back for this waste of time by all means let me know

2906 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is lousy!!! at 27 Dec 2010 02:53:59 PM
I am retired and we travel Australia. Vodaphone sales said I'd get "Great coverage" using their 7Gb pm mobile modem, Terrible reception from day one. Sent it back under the 14day return clause. Lady at Post Office said "Better Register it if it's going to Vodafone, because they will swear that they never got it" Took her advise and when the accounts for the use of a Modem that they had received (signature confirmed by Aus Post) they begrudgingly wiped the account. I still got 2 more email "Reminders" for payment of account that had been cancelled.
27 Dec 2010 02:57:14 PM: i had the same problem sending back their stupid phone. i made sooo many calls to them and they were terrible!!
