Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

6423 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Terrible! at 28 Dec 2010 11:11:26 AM
Went on a 24month contract with vodafone to combine mobile and internet costs. Since signing up, reception is appalling - I live near Manuka, within 1km of a tower, 500m of another, and can still only get one bar reception at most times. My Internet is slower than Dial up and is practically useless with the majority of the time I have to reset the connection several times to get anywhere. I cannot update my Tivo. Have tried to contact Vodafone several times but no solutions.
My calls often go straight to message bank and hearing people on my phone is very difficult due to very poor reception.

My phone drops out, sometimes i never receive MMS messages..even when i have sent them to myself from other peoples phones.
Sometimes text messages are delayed, then arrive multiple times.
The internet coverage turns my iphone into a commodore 64.

We are both using pocketwifi on our laptops and hardly ever get coverage in spite of paying a monthly bill. We're thinking of getting a landline. Would that make coverage better? Hard to know since you have to spend half the day on the phone trying to get through to Vodafone. Give us back what we've paid since you can't provide the service. And how about the inconvenience? It's a busy world. we need the net. That's why we're paying!

6411 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is exactly what I expected at 28 Dec 2010 11:06:19 AM
I live in Katherine and coverage is hopeless. Every couple of months there is none at all. But to be perfectly honest, this is why they are cheaper. Telstra may have the worst possible customer service and cost you a small fortune, but they have put the money into installing a decent network. Vodafone has not and is cheaper as a result. No point complaining about simple coverage issues. Their customer service has always been great (coming from lifelong Telstra usage) and while they did try and charge me for a support call once, they removed the charge as soon as I pointed it out. If you live somewhere like the NT, it's kind of obvious that you should do the research before signing up to any sort of wireless coverage contract. The contract doesn't guarantee coverage. Their 3G network is actually hugely better than Telstra's (for those with a phone that will work with standard 3G but not nextG frequencies).
So yes, the Vodafone network is pretty hopeless, but if you do the research before signing anything you're pretty safe. I am on a month by month contract and so I could ditch them at any time, but as long as they give me a better deal...

All that said, I have never had a call dropped or any issues while well within network coverage. I can sympathise with that. Unless you use an iPhone, then it's entirely your fault.

6410 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Totally Dodgy at 28 Dec 2010 11:06:06 AM
I have some issues with the service from Vodafone as well, but not only with the coverage and calls dropping out but with the level of reagrd and treatment from customer service itself.

Vodafone called me to se if I wanted to renew my contract as mine was coming to an end. The middle eastern sounding lady told me about the new infinite cap which was fine, and then she asked me about my phone and how that was going I said it had a few issues so she offered me a new one I said that I wanted to get the iphone 4 but was advised that they were out of stock and there was a wait of up to 4 weeks so she said that I should get this other phone called the Nokia N8 I quizzed her about the specifics of the phone and told her that if it wasn't exactly like the iphone 4 in looks and capalbility then I wsn't interested in that phone at all. She told me it looks exactly like the iphone and does all the same things but the only difference was the camera it being a 12megapixel as the iphone4 has only a 5megapixel. Had I of known that this camera is nothing like the iphone 4 I wouldn't have even considered getting this phone especailly wehn I got it, the phone was faulty as broken calculator. At first when I got it I was super hessitant since it wasn't what I was expecting at all but decided to give it a go anyway. Once I charged the battery I stuck my sim card in and began my using it, my relationship with my new phone lasted for not even 2 days. Turns out the phone was faulty, the battery didn't even last a day, and it would take a really long time to respond to any commands that I would give it or just not respond at all or if I managed to get to the applications screen and try to open one the wole phone would just go black. So began my calling to vodafone, or should I say VODAFAIL.. I called them every day for nearly 2 weeks sometimes several times a day and each time I'd be left on hold for over an hour waiting and then when I FINALLY GOT THROUGH and explained my situation about how the phone was faulty and misled into getting it the first place, they would only say that I have come through to the wrong department and that would have to transfer me to the correct one, this happened at least 6 times everytime I would call customer service! I have been a customer loyal to vodafone for nearly 8 years and I think I think I deserve better than this! They sent me the phone by courier from an Allphones store and said that if the phone came form them then I would have to take it up with them. So I did they told me it Vodafone's probelm, Vodafone sent me back and forth like a tennis ball wi this faulty phone cos niether of them wanted to take responsibilty of a faulty phone. In the end I finally got through after another 1 and half or so of having to listen to the annoying Lara, to an Australian guy who explained that despite the circumstances of being misled in getting the Nokia N8 I had signed a verbal contract with that phone and that the only thing that they could do was send me out another one. I explained that I wasn't interested in getting another one of this handset and asked that my upgrade to the 49 infinite plan be reversed and I send back the faulty handset to vodafone, and start over. After being told that this was possible by someone else (another middle eastern person) the Australian guy said that the only thin that he could do for me was send me out a replacement of the same handset of the Nokia N8, and if the second handset turned out to be faulty as well only then would they look at reversing my upgrade and sending me out a different phone all together, being the iphone 4 which is what I wanted to start with. The lady that initially did the upgrade was only trying to give me the hard sell on that phone as they would commissions on every phone sold. So now I have to wait for this other Nokia N8 and find out if it faulty and go through the entire process AGAIN! I'm not racist, but it makes me so mad that for a company thats based in Australia, they would have a call centres in places like the middle east, you call them expecting to talk to someone who can understand what they are saying and you can understnad what they are saying but half the time you can't, its total bullox! If people can't speack english properly and clearly then they should be employed in call centres PERIOD. VODAFONE YOU TOTALLY BITE! Your name definately be should be VODAFAIL, you have definately failed me.

It starts with not having ANY reception in our house,so our phones and internet don't work!We get told to go into the vodafone shop to upgrade ur phones but once in the shop we then get told they cant upgrade to iphones in store and we have to ring them, but they did tell us they have iphones in store but they are not for exsisting customers, which i think we should get priority!! we then ring the vodafone place and are on hold for 20mins,we finally get thru and there systems are down and they also refused to upgrade as we had $50 outstanding but we paid it over the internet but they are making us wait 2 DAYS!!!!!.... vodafone...you are crap!!

little reception at home ( can't pay my bill on 1555 number as no reception ) and little reception elsewhere as call drop outs are common ( everyday ) so rarely use my phone! Is this what they want when you are capped? Told by sales person that reception was good in my area but at home now with single bar reception. Can't wait to get out.

6405 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is NO SERVICE and CALL DROPS at 28 Dec 2010 11:02:24 AM
I have been using Vodafone from the past 7 weeks but haven't been happy at all from the service. Reasons are many to mention:
-No Network coverage (half of the time)
-Call drops (half the time)
-Can't get to customer care (atleast before 25-30minutes)

Vodafone really needs to take all this seriously.

No reception at my work 15km from CBD, I have an iphone so dont even think about using any of my 1gb of data can barely load google. Mobilebroadband only works outside peak times as there is not enough reception to load any pages. I have an iPhone that I cant use as a Phone. Apparently according to Vodaphone, its the iPhone not them that I cant make/receive calls, texts, email. I also apparently am in a VERY good reception area. I cant make calls from my workplace or my own home, both of which are in a 5klm radius.
They have even admitted that I'm getting poor service as they halved my Fee due to the fact that I'm unable to get any service..Cant wait til my Contract expires. Good ridance Vodaphone

Earlier this year I sent my Iphone out for repair with Vodafone and it was gone for over 3 months..... they eventually admitted they could not find it and just replaced the phone but offered me nothing for all the time wasted chasing them up and all the inconvenience involved with the whole mess ........... pathetic

6391 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is prepaid broadband terrible at 28 Dec 2010 10:50:06 AM
If it's raining, it cuts out. If it's drizzling, it cuts out. If it's cloudy, it cuts out. If it's foggy, it cuts out. If it's windy, it cuts out. If it's hot, it cuts out. On a fine mild day with no wind, I can get up to one uninterrupted hour of net browsing. However the speed is appalling and rates in the range of 100's of bps (yes, Bytes Per Second) are not uncommon. All this and Vodaphone says I am in one of their "good" broadband reception areas.

6390 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Frustrating at 28 Dec 2010 10:48:49 AM
Calls go to message bank despite showing 3/5 bars on the phone, sms messages delayed both in/out, 3G very slow with poor or no reception (even where used to have excellent reception). I have since switched of 3G on my iPhone and resorted to 2G network with no Internet access on the iPhone. Reception is much better at 2G.

Having Internet on the phone is crucial to my work. Luckily contract ends soon and I can walk away from Vodafone.

I run my construction business from my home in Taringa and had 3 mobiles on Vodafone caps. After the merger with 3 my reception disappeared and I changed the phone the sim card everything to no avail !!

Eventually after 4 months on continuos complaining to SOHO solutions, they cancelled my contract and allowed me to keep the 'phones ( 1 out of contract, 1 2 months to go and 1 15 months to go )

I changed to Telstra and have no issues and full coverage everywhere

6385 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Disgraceful service at 28 Dec 2010 10:43:16 AM
The network coverage in my area of Cairns (Redlynch) is disgraceful. We, in our household do not have a landline and rely solely on mobile phones (Vodafone). More frequently than not my phone conversations break up to the point where the person I am talking to cannot understand what I'm saying, not to mention the frequent signal drop outs. My question to Vodafone is, would they be prepared to accept responsibility if there is no network coverage in an emergency situation??

-drop-outs every few minutes whilst on calls.
-inability of callers to leave messages on message bank.
-incoming calls have been lost and not recorded as missed calls.
-low battery life.
I've had this phone for only a month or so. During the Christmas period i have missed out on important reunions with family members. I am frustrated by the constant dropping out of reception during phonecalls. This is absolutely not acceptable and i'd rather not be paying a monthly fee for such a poor service.

Im sick of calling LARA, im sick of waiting on hold for 30-40 minutes, im sick of listening to customer service telling me there are no network problems in my area, and to turn off my phone, clean the sim, delete my sms inbox.... If a call is over 5 minutes it drops out, on Christmas Eve there were network problems all day. Im surprised that on the Vodafone website, where their apology is, that they have a blog going that is scathing of their service, they couldn't even get their network feedback email address right. Vodafone couldn't organise a root in a brothel with a fist full of fiftys.

6367 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Poor coverage and service at 28 Dec 2010 10:30:55 AM
I live in an area that shows on the map that it's in good coverage. I constantly get calls dropping out or no service at all. As a member of a couple of emergency service organisations I need good coverage to be called up for service. I've logged a number of complaints and was told to wait until after the upgrade in my area as it should improve then. Nope, it didn't improve. I also don't get any service at all at my friends place (up on top of the hill nearby) and it too is in a good coverage area according to their map.
When I try to make contact with Voda about it, I usually end up with a person who has limited, if any, english and become more frustrated from talking to them. When I go to the store they direct me to the call centre and are unable to help.

Yesterday I wanted to go and upgrade my phone, before leaving I looked up the opening hours of the store (9am). After waiting for over 20mins past the opening time, I knocked on the glass and got the attention of a lady inside who stated they didn't open until 10am as it was a public holiday. This was not noted on the internet and there was no sign outside the store to indicate this. I left very angry as I didn't have time to wait. I live 20mins outside of town and only went in to see them.

I called customer care when I got home to try and find out about the eligibility for upgrading my phone and after an hour of waiting for someone to answer, I hung up in disgust.

I really like the caps and the infinity offers but I just wish the service and coverage would improve.
28 Dec 2010 12:54:20 PM: There are 10,000 homes in the area I am covered by. ! 1/2 years ago I moved and the area is only 3 klms away..the coverage here is worse....for over 2 years I have been fighting Vodaphone over this and suggested a booster tower...Vodaphone refuse to look into it....Vodaphone come up up with all the excusaes they can NOT to improve the service....time is coming for a showdown....

6366 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible 'customer service' and poor network coverage at 28 Dec 2010 10:28:53 AM
So after a few weeks trying to obtain an iphone upgrade through Vodafone, I was finally told that I could go direct to the apple store in Sydney who could do it for me as Vodafone didn't have any stock. It was all done and dusted in about 30mins. Loved the new phone, but as of Sunday my 3G service has decided not to work, I have difficulties making phone calls, my voicemail come in a few hours late and yet i seem to have full signal and the 3G sign is visible. Yesterday I spent a total of about 3 hrs on hold trying to speak to someone who doesn't speak English very well. Not to mention I am on my holiday! So I speak to someone who tells me to reset my settings and that should fix the problem. Did this about 6 times and it's not fixed anything. So I call back and when I finally get to speak to someone they tell me I should turn off my 3G and just use the 2g network which is super slow. He then transfers me to someone in 'network support' so they can look into the issue. I hung up after being on hold for 53mins so never spoke to anyone. I gave up. I have been with Vodafone for about 10 years and it is absolutely shocking, customer service is simply a joke.

6359 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is I Can't Get No Satisifaction at 28 Dec 2010 10:25:00 AM
I've been with this particulr company for a while. It seems that they don't give a dam for so called valued customers, it seems to me as if there were a black hole in comunication for so called coverage. As a customer I pay for this so called service, but get none. So I think it's only fair that I get get what I pay for , but oh no they demand my money when it's due & as for my writes I don't have any & get slugged for a late fee for my trouble. So to all you out there DON'T GIVE THEM THE SATISACTION as we should not to opt out of our contract, THEY SHOULD PAY US FOR the inconvience. DON'T SIGN UP again. COMPANIES like them shouldent be allowed to operate. I also missed out on jobs though the lack of reception. Signed Disgruntled

6358 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is After 2 weeks, somewhat peeved... at 28 Dec 2010 10:21:09 AM
Just signed up for a 24 month contract (including handset). The connection process went well, within 2 hours like the shop assistant said, so far so good. On Xmas eve, tried to make a call (vodafone to vodafone), no reception, moved outside, no reception, wandered around the yard, no reception. Assumed phone was glitching, turned phone off, took out battery & sim, waited a minute or so, put it back together. Had 1 bar of reception, tried to make call again, went straight to voicemail, tried again, nothing but silence. Called another person (vodafone to telstra), finally got through, they called the person I originally tried to call and then called me back. At the same time all this was going on, 2 of my friends were on facebook complaining about vodafone as they were having trouble too. My advice would be don't sign up with vodafone until the fix the bugs, it's not worth it.

6348 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is MEGA fail at 28 Dec 2010 10:11:49 AM
My partner and I have been Vodafone customers for 6-7 years now, after starting out on prepaid we were spending to much money so we decided to go on a cap. Vodafone had always worked so well for us and the caps were always so much more affordable and since we both travelled so much for work this was always our best option and we were always happy. But since renewing our plan and increasing our cap from $49 to the $79 cap in Dec 2009 we have been nothing but dissappointed. Firstly, I entered into a new plan a week before going overseas for a holiday. On my return 2 weeks later I had a bill for over $2000, I knew I had not used my phone that much whilst overseas, especially not enough to accrue a bill of that amount, after finally reaching them, they explained that I had 'apparently' cancelled a contract on 07 Dec, funny that, when it was impossible as I had only just signed 2 new contracts and on the date I was meant to have cancelled a contract in Australia, I was in Rome!!!! They eventually (after several phone calls to vodafone and the retailer where this apparently happened) they removed the fee. This however was just the beginning of a very disappointing run with Vodafone. Our caps vary so much, we are constantly shocked at the cost of our bills, knowing we do not vary our calls that much from month to month yet they are always over cap and sometimes by over $200. When I was with Telstra, if they could see your cap going over alot or not workng out, they used to contact you and talk through some ideas to better suit your calling patterns (this has never happened with Vodafone, they just want our money, there is no customer sevice) We have recently moved to a large inland NSW town, where you would expect to get full coverage, we get nothing and still have 12 months left on our plan. For our jobs, we both get moved regularly, we have been from Brisbane, to Sydney to Newcastle and until the past few months, have had no problems with reception. Now, even back in Sydney for christmas (a capital city), we get nothing, in a CAPITAL city, how can you get no coverage?? I was sent picture messages on Christmas day of my family as I was unable to be with them, some I received 3 and 4 days later, most I still have not received 5 days later. We can have full netowrk coverage and 3G activated, attempt to log onto the internet and wait for up to 10mins before it even looks like connecting, you would think if you have reception you could utilise the service. This is unacceptable, we pay for a service that we can not even use...... RUBBISH!! I have not been reveiving bills either via the mail or e-mail, I am just receiving text saying my bill is overdue, this is not acceptable. I have attempted to call several times to discuss my issues however after it cutting out and then being on hold for 30mins plus, and then for them to say they will redirect me and be taken back to the voice activated main menu AGAIN and AGAIN and get no where I have given up. I WANT OUT!!

I was in Melbourne and driving home to Canberra on the afternoon of dec 27. During the day my girlfriend visited her friends and took a train and said she would text me when she arrived back at the station so we could drive straight home. My girlfriend got back to the station after about 2 hours but we didnt see each other till about 5 hours after cause I had no reception and could not tell where she was or what was going on. And on another day, my gf bought the vodafone 3g net stick. I believe it was the dumbest purchase ever. After you install the net stick on your computer you have to go online to activate the stick before you can go online. How are you meant to go online on a computer that has no internet yet??? 6340 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is 1 zillion% FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 10:04:16 AM
A few years back I was in Nagambie holding my phone above my head trying to get reception to make a call to telstra because an oversized truck had driven down the street and pulled down the telephone wires. With mobile in hand held above my head and my eyes concentrated on the phone looking for signal bars,.. I FELL down a small curved gutter. I felt ok, a bit sore, until the next day in the shower as I was washing my hair I heard about 9 cracks from my back to my neck. Like vodafone reception,.. I was seized. My whole shoulders, neck and back were frozen. Could not move my neck or arms. My shoulders, neck and back were frozen solid. I got out of the shower and draped a towel to try and cover my womanly bits and called in pain to my dad. He came into the bathroom and I told him what had happened. He helped me to get dressed and called work to tell them I wouldn't be coming in. He tried to get me into the car to take me to the Shepparton Hospital. My body wasn't moving from the back up and this proved most difficult. He called an ambulance. .. I had to take a month of work. And to this day,.. I still have constant pain in my neck and shoulders and forever going to the chiropractor when I can afford it, panadine forte is a saviour and all because I could not get reception with vodafone. I have discovered accupuncture, but all these are just a pain cover up for something I suffer with every day. Going to the doctors and saying that I fell down a gutter, sober, looking for vodafone coverage on my mobile. My neck, back and shoulder pain will never go away. The expence on chiropractor and painkillers over 5 years is quite a lot. I also suffer from debilitating headaches because of the pain. No one willever understand how this has and will continue to affect me for the rest of my life. I am in tears writing this.

6339 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Crap service all round! at 28 Dec 2010 10:04:05 AM
After only 12 months with this crap carrier I rang to advise of poor reception. I spoke with an agent (after their 4th attempt to contact me due to no reception and dropouts) who said to me that I could have free service for 3 months and if still unhappy could cancel free of charge. After a further 2 weeks I couldn't take it any more so rang to cancel only to be told that will cost you $1250. I kindly informed them that the previous man said that I would not have to pay they called me a liar! After being on the phone for over 8 hours yes 8 HOURS and still many call dropouts and no reception during this time we came to an agreement of $250. They really are hopeless and would not recommend to anyone! Good luck with the class action I hope it sends them bankrupt as I have lost plenty of money from missing out on work over the time I was customer with them!

6332 Someone from NT thinks vodafone is at 28 Dec 2010 09:59:55 AM
I signed up for 3G internet (usb modem) through Vodafone 22 months ago for a 24 month contract. After signing up discovered there was no 3G reception in Alice Springs. Called to complain and was told I could have half price slow internet for a short while (I think I was told a few months max) and then pay the full price plan for the rest of the contract once 3G started in Alice Springs. I think it was almost 6 months of NO internet (not sure now why I didn't officially complain about that at the time), and since then has been very unreliable and still quite slow - some days not working at all - always having to try to stick the usb out the window to get a decent signal. Until two and a half months ago when the internet completely cut out, and I have since had countless phone calls to Vodafone trying to resolve the issue - equaling countless hours on hold, and then not having anything resolved. I still have no internet.

I also have a mobile phone through Vodafone (24 mth contract - coming to a close) and have had very poor reception, often no reception for the last 24 months.

I wonder if I could also complain about the stress caused when my phone was cut off due to unusually high usage - only to find I had been charged almost $1000 for a one hour call to vodafone to fix the internet (unsuccessfully). I was able to get the fee reversed and my phone reconnected after much stress (and embarrassing tears).

I have had phone calls constantly dropping out after a few minutes over the last 3-4 months, out of character billing (ie. consistantly around $80, then all of a sudden $280 with no difference in usage). Bad reception in Kelmscott and Bertram, plus not getting 3G coverage in many built up areas, such as Perth city when we are there on a weekend. Not receiving paper bills in mail after changing address, which in turn leads to my phone being cut off as we didn't realise we had a high phone bill. (no msg was sent to advise of cut off, otherwise I would have sorted it out). Very disappointed. Will never use vodafone again once I'm out of contract.

I live in the NT I only have coverage in Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs and that is sometimes spasmodic. My works takes me to communities across the NT and can not get coverage anywhere outsied the above areas. Very frustrating. I guess I am one of many customers that never gets to use up my monthly plan, why, can't get coverage if I could afford to pay my plan out and move to telstra I would. Over I am going to change my messagebank to say sorry cant take your call because my provider doesnt offer any service where I am. Comforting that others have the same pain in some way.

When i called them they sent me a file that i ahd to downlaod to update it. Why would i ahve to update a brand new modem??? They also set up a direct connection to them to run through my modem. when i said i wanted a new modem or to cancel my internet they argued with me that because they had set up a direct connection that there was nothing i could do. I have had to keep paying for internet that i dont use at $39/month for nearly a year now. NOT HAPPY! And also their coverage in the North Lakes area is absolute rubbish !

I live in Melbourne, I am on a prepaid service and cannot make any calls from my home as there is always a 'limited service' display on the screen. It is frustrating that I am paying for a service that is not available. I am on call for work and due to the poor service all calls go straight to voice message and then I am unable to retrieve my messages as there is no service. How dare a company not deliver a service they are promising their customers. It is misleading and a complete misrepresentation to the consumer. Not only will I not return as a customer, I will definitely not be a brand advocate for this company.

6305 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Frustrated, Unhappy, and No Satisfaction at 28 Dec 2010 09:47:53 AM
My husband and i have been with Vodafone for 2 years and six months, on a three year contract. We both have a phone each on a $79 cap, for months we have had no reception, if we do ever get a call it looses signal and drops out and we don't get any txt messages for days after. My husband has lost jobs and some people has had to come around to our house, they said they have been trying to call us for days.

So we went into the shop to complain they said that they couldn't do anything in the shop, so they gave us a number to ring. While we were there we noticed that they didn't even have any signal in their own shop. When we got home i rang that number he told me to swap the sim card over, and if it still doesn't work go back into the shop and get a sim card replacement. Or we can pay the rest of the remaining contract, so not doing that, not giving them any satifaction.

Being so frustrated i rang the Telecommunication Ombudsman, guess what i got an answer machine saying that they where snowed under with people calling, and to vist their website to make a complaint. Probably snowed under with vodafone unhappy customers. Don't know what to do next, but thanx this has let some of my pain and frustration out.

We have all been scammed. My now "ex" girlfriend suggested I change to Vodafone as it was cheaper - I think she set me up. Vodafone's network is not fit for purpose. Their customer service and service level management is non-existent. Yes, Telstra and Optus have had their issues, but never this bad. It is an insult they are heavily marketing and discounting service to attract more customers, yet clearly they cannot support the current user base. And it is impossible to get any response from their customer service

I live in town, not rural Margaret River Wa. I must admit to being duped by 'The best deal' hook when I signed up with Voda-phony, although in my defence I did check with them first what they're claimed coverage in our area was like, being reasured it was equivilent to Telstra. (gulible) For the past eight months of 'service' I would estimate around only 60% of the day I have at best a weak signal (1-2bars) the rest of the time NO SERVICE. I thought it unique to just rural areas until I went to friends homes in Balcatta and Ellensbrook in Perth to find then same weak signal. Voda-phony gave us free calls all day a couple of Saturdays ago for compensation for poor service, which is of little use when your phone keeps dropping out. Anyway enough complaining from me just give us what we pay good money for service. Ash

Been with Vodafone 10 years, the last 5 or 6 years on prepaid. Until 3 months ago was happy with service. One day had no coverage, couldn't make or receive calls. Callers were getting message..phone switched off. Called Vodafone and was told I needed new sim card which they provided free of charge. Used to get reminder, top up due but not any more. And recently am not receiving calls. Even though phone is switched on and there is coverage callers being told phone is switched off. So far this problem seems only to be with other vodafone or 3 users. Until this morning I thought it must be my phone playing up and was going to get a new one at the sales. After reading this forum it seems a new phone isn't the answer.

I keep getting user is out of service or just won't connect. Then when others try call me it says im out of service too. Weird thing is i nearly always have a single bar of reception regardless where i go.

The net seems to be slow....but im quite sure this is just due to the limitations of 3G. Other mates who are on the shared "3 network" are getting close to full reception ALL THE TIME!!! Shame its a 24month contract and only 3 months into it as TPG mobile plan is sounding REALLY good right about now.

Third Fail. When it rains. I essentially have no phone. I get no sms, no voicemail, almost no phonecalls (the ones that do get through, only last 2 seconds before theyt cut out).
Fourth Fail. I recieve sms' and voicemail hours to a WEEK after they were sent/recorded.... I'm supposed to have Visual voicemail. This is what i'm paying for people! (Because thats not working i'm paying to retrieve my voicemail)
Fifth Fail. I expect customer service. By customer service I mean someone who: Can speak English. Who doesn't blame it on my phone. Who doesn't blind transfer me. Who actually knows what they're talking about. And I expect that someone could think of saying to customers when calling up, that the computer systems are down before having to wait an hour plus to talk to them. Also... No, we'll investigate it and call you back within 48hours (they never call back).
Sixth Fail. I can't go to the store to figure out my reception problems... I have to call the shoddy telephone line, which hurts my ears, and makes me wait, listening to the shoddy line for an hour or more.

I WANT OUT! Shame on you Vodafone. You should be shut down for bad customer service and bad service all round.

6265 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pricing at 28 Dec 2010 09:32:11 AM
Having been with Vodafone 10years, i have recently had enough, of the exstortionate pricing, the exasperating voice recognition so called customer service, the incompetence, when it comes to resolving an issue and the general, screw the customer for more, $2.5billion dollar profit. Vodafone, service falls way short of price one pays to be on the Vodafone Network. I thought it was just me that was facing these issues, however the everyfailing network coverage and the general consensus, of other Vodafone customers share my frustration. I am currently facing a $2,000 terminated contact.

6264 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is annoying at 28 Dec 2010 09:30:52 AM
I live at Flagstaff Hill and have to put up with a mobile broadband service (no ADSL in our street) The only company that could provide coverage was Three. Now that they have merged with Vodafone the speed is crap with regular dropouts. I also have a three mobile phone plan which I am stuck with until March. It used to work north of Adelaide (I work in remote north West SA.) but now I can't even get coverage in Coober Pedy, the last roaming signal I get is at Port Augusta. Telstra here I come.

6255 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is pretty fail at 28 Dec 2010 09:27:25 AM
I thought my new iPhone was to blame for sh*t reception, CONSTANT call dropouts and slow internet. But since discovering this story, I realise that it is because of Vodafone. Great phone deals, but really at least 50 per cent of my calls have connection issues or drop out. It happens ALL OF THE TIME

I recently signed up for a plan.. If i knew the reception and dropped calls would be this bad i would have never signed up to vodafail.. Afer waititng on hold for over 1 hr, i sent a couple of emails letting them know they have over charged me and only got a response back when i sent my final email letting them know i am thinking of changing providers. There response was that the bill was correct. Stupid me i paid the bill not wanting to get a bad credit rating from one little incident. I want what i pay for and that is SIMPLY: to make a call without having to call back after 2 mins because the line dropped out or even better to be able to make the inital call and it connects straight away and not tell me that the call has FAILED. We are NOT living in a third world country.

6250 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is MAXIMUM FAILURE at 28 Dec 2010 09:25:48 AM
My service in Bendigo has Low or No signal, signal drops out while on conversation, messages received many hours and at times receive following day after being sent, messages sent at times are delayed many hours. Advised before signing up for 2 years, that Vodafone reception needed between Bendigo and Broadford, HA WHAT A JOKE, NO RECEPTION EVEN ON ROAMING, 15 minutes from Bendigo. Finally get reception to children 8 minutes before Broadford.

6245 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is terrible at 28 Dec 2010 09:22:34 AM
Been with Vodafone for 3 years, can't get reception inside my own house, most friends houses around central Hobart also. Also cannot get reception in a lot of places inside the Royal Hobart Hospital or the Launceston General Hospital where a lot of people require good phone reception. They also charge exuberant call rates and fail to respond to complaints. I will certainly not be rejoining them and advising all others not to also.
28 Dec 2010 12:37:07 PM: I thought you were meant to turn your phone off inside a hospital?
28 Dec 2010 04:41:26 PM: What if you work there? I work at the Royal and since my phone does not work in most of the building, I ended up getting a pager as well.
28 Dec 2010 06:26:28 PM: That's unusual, normally if your employer requires you to have a phone they provide it, so one would think they would provide you with a work phone that works !!!!
28 Dec 2010 08:32:16 PM: I have worked (construction projects) at the RHH and always had drummed into me how important it was to have my phone turned off. When I dd have it on I had no dramas in reception, even with Vodafone - only down in the tunnels and in the loading dock/mortuary areas.

6244 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 28 Dec 2010 09:22:29 AM
For the past 8 weeks:

- I haven't been able to make A SINGLE phone call
- I receive calls but people can't hear me
- It takes 2 to 3 minutes to load sites such as google.com.au
- I've noticed huge delays in SMS/MMS reception. I usually receive SMS/MMS 12 to 24hrs after they were sent (Ironically, the only SMS I got on time was Vodafail, asking me to pay my bill)
- I've been receiving voicemails 2 to 3 days late

This has caused countless problems both on a personal and professional level. What's alarming here is that I live in Darlinghurst and work in Surry Hills were most of Vodafail's customers are located.

I went down to my local Vodafail store and politely asked for some information. Staff were rude and I was asked to call a number (I CAN'T CALL REMEMBER?).

I tried to take my frustration to Facebook. It appears that Vodafone have disabled their wall. This means that people can't comment anymore. They just use the page to broadcast messages about their latest marketing campaigns.

Hey Vodafone, how about you fix your network and address the real issues instead of throwing bags of money at stupid Facebook promotions?

Vodafone, you can kiss my $100 a month goodbye.

6242 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Shizen at 28 Dec 2010 09:21:41 AM
Vodafone has been terrible lately, i never thought my reception at home could get any worse at least I used to get drop outs, now I get nothing at all). I do find it amusing however that 3 customers complain that it is voda's side causing the problem, however.. They do know that all the management guys basically came from 3, right? Voda never was this bad before. A lack of willingness to spend money is the major symptom of this disease, nothing more. Oh well.. At least I can still use my home wifi network!

6241 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Extreme! at 28 Dec 2010 09:20:58 AM
I've had numerous ongoing issues with Vodumbphone for over a year, I made repeated calls to their service and tech teams and was told the reception in my area was great. I live by a small airport and one operator even told me the radar could be effecting my reception (wtf?)

After lodging numerous complaints i was given a new 3G modem (small slim line model) and was told it picks up more frequencies, unfortunately this was not true, I still had major data and call drop outs.

When i asked to cancel my mobile and 3G internet plan i was threatened with heavy cancellation fee's. It's a joke!

another issue is how they release better plans but won't let you switch (even if it means signing a new 12 or 24 month contract, i was always advised i had to pay out my old contract which must be illegal! It's just not how a business should be operated.

6239 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Unbelievably Lame at 28 Dec 2010 09:20:12 AM
Not only do I have my mobile with vodafone (and i have the same low coverage, dropouts, calls just not connecting etc) but i have my internet through them. I was told I should have an average speed of 1-3mbps, I'm lucky to get that. It averages at about 30-50kbps, if i'm lucky. Quite often I have to take my laptop outside to be able to connect to the internet, and despite the coverage map saying I have FULL coverage, I'm lucky to get more than 2 bars of service!!! It can take up to 10 minutes to load a basic page and up to 30 min for a Facebook page, and sometimes, even sitting outside, I can't connect. This happens so often that I've actually been able to figure out the days and times where I'm going to have the most trouble connecting!! I am sooo angry that it's not funny, but I really can't afford to go with a differnt carrier that provides service in my area, so as I need to have phone and internet access, I have had to shut up and put up. I've had enough of it.
