Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

6978 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Not good at 28 Dec 2010 05:05:39 PM
I thought it was me until my friend who got a contract at the same time said she was experiencing reception problems too, dropped out calls, even my voicemail, I have to check it every now and then because I don't get a message to say there is one waiting to be heard! Internet so slow I have to turn my phone off and on to get some sort of reception! But the worst is dropped calls! Very Frustrating! They were good before, but something obviously happened. And doesn't help being on hold for a long time and then talking to someone reading from a script!!!!

6976 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 28 Dec 2010 05:05:36 PM
Purchased a blackberry and had nothing but trouble with it, phone freezed and would have to remove the battery and reboot(15 mins) finally after months of pain i sent it off to vodafone. I received a new blackberry same model. It worked for two weeks then started freezing. I swapped to a friends iphone and received huge excess charges due to internet downloads being different for the blackberry. I have had dozens of phone calls and had to endure LARA and enter my details in many times only to have to repeat them when you finnaly get through to an incompetent call centre. I have been forced to pay all costs and told i would have to pay out all costs in order to end my contract.

In short Lousy phone, pathetic reception(throughout NSW and QLD) Dropped calls, delayed messages, internet slower than dial up internet...

Vodafone is a huge company focusing on their profits and bottom line and could not really care about the consumers.. Do not use Vodafone!!

6973 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Massive fail at 28 Dec 2010 05:05:18 PM
I got a new iPhone 4 with three and since they merged with vodafail at least once a month I have days at I time where all I get when I try to make a call is network coverage lost or if someone calls me the call abruptly drops out then no further calls can be made. I can also not have had my phone ring for the majority of the day and all of a sudden I will get bombarded with missed call notifications and texts from early in the day. I tried numerous times to contact 3 and on the odd occasion that I got through (after being on hold and passed around for far too long) they where of no assistance and also didn't bother to follow up when the call was disconnected due to their crappy coverage. Looks like I'll be paying almost $100 a month for two years for an unreliable service that works intermitatly. Thanks for nothing.

I have been on here reading so many ppls stories and the pain they have gone through.
Personally I feel it was a massive mistake for Vodafone to agree to this merger of 3 and Voda. clearly they didnt and still dont have this capacity in place nor there is no structure for there company which has resulted in very upset and angry customers.
I speak as I am a previous employee of VF before the merger and let me tell you, after the merger went through not only customers were being affected as there was no transperency to there existing customers but staff had suffered through this all.

All staff went through a re apply stage and well most ppl were made redundant and when they had to go back in for there feedback sessions alot of ppl were given no reasons as to why they didnt make the cut.

Excuses were made such as "Unfortunatley you have too much happening in your personal life" or that we wish you best of luck!! Really? F#$K OFF!!

I for one am very glad this site has come up as not only on the inside and back end was crap but once and for all all customers and the Australian people can see how this merger clearly should not have happened.

I have many friends on the network along with myself and the amount of drop outs or call failed I get in my house is ridiculous.

Vodafone take back your stores and get rid of 3 you let them enter a merger with a $350 Million debt over there heads.... What were you thinking???

It saddens me to say this but after being a customer for over 12 years with Vodafone I am going to Telstra as this coverage and BS that has been going on for close to 2yrs is absolutely that BullShit!!!

6970 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is very bad! at 28 Dec 2010 05:05:12 PM
I recently went to forster and my phone said I had full reception however I could not get incoming calls nor make any out going calls. I also had no missed calls but had voicemails when arriving back in Sydney. Both in forster and Sydney my internet runs extremely slow and also delays in messages and no reception majority of the time. Also phone calls cut out. I feel we should not have to pay them for phone bills when we cannot even use our phone most of the time.

6969 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very annoyed at 28 Dec 2010 05:05:04 PM
Very bad reception... Always dropping in and out... I usually always have full reception at my home but recently, some days it will be no reception... One minute there is full reception and the next there was none... And messages would arrive two hours late.. Messages wouldn't send... I have lost business due to this service...And to top it all off I have an iPhone 4 which was recommended as the top of the range business phone and sent from customer care as i had trouble with my previous phone.... So not only did they give me bad advice but the service is very disappointing...

6968 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Complete Fail...and "LARA" is incredibly useless at 28 Dec 2010 05:05:03 PM
Constant drop outs, have multiple phones with Vodafone. They all have a tendency to drop out at the same time. Poor coverage in high density areas, including Central Sydney, and Parramatta of all places. Vodafone are getting worse. Have had signal drop out during inportant calls, and then not able to call back due to no service. Sick of seeing the "your cellular network is no longer available" message on my iPhone. No longer available? Where'd they go? Could also do without LARA. How about a real person and a little respect for paying customers.
28 Dec 2010 05:49:03 PM: i used to work for vodafone - they contract the call centre out to a third party...hire absolute deadshits and pay them $16/hr - if you think they dont care about you..thats because they dont..they could not care less and some of the stuff i saw them do was amazing..they would blantantly lie just to get customers off the phone..often though the reps just had no idea how to answer the questions so the answers were made up..the supervisors were worse!

6966 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is FML at 28 Dec 2010 05:04:51 PM
I've tried for a long time to get a plan with vodafone, I ordered a phone online, they called me a few days later to confirm the order, I wished to change the phone in the plan, the woman informed me that I would need to cancel the order and re-order to receive the phone I wanted, so I did this. I went to a vodafone store who wasted an hour of my time while trying to get another phone and decided to go to another that night. It took me 2 and a half hours to get my phone. Two weeks later I received a package in the mail, it was the phone I had ordered online which I had cancelled... I rang them immediately and said I wasn't going to pay for it, the woman assured me I wouldn't have to. She said IT would contact me in a few days and send me out a satchel to send the unwanted phone back, I waited for 2 weeks. I then received my phone bill, they were charging me for both. I spent over a week trying to call them, I was hung up on, left on hold for hours on end. Never once raising my voice or getting angry. Finally I got a hold of them and they said they wouldn't charge me and send me out a package to send it back in. If I don't receive it I will cancel my plan with them and not pay a cent.
It takes me about 5 attempts to make a phone call, the message 'connection error' constantly appearing, even when my phone has full reception. The internet is so slow and drops out all the time. It can take 3 attempts to send a message and forget even trying to send a multimedia message, cause it just wont work.

Missed many important calls, and texts, never had any positive feedback calling vodafone, actually took alot of my time. Have spoken to unbeware consumers since, and it is the same case.
Not just Ocean Grove area, the Geelong area, and Australia wide,International impossible.

6961 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad reception at 28 Dec 2010 05:04:32 PM
It frustrates me when I'm on vodafone and my partner is on 3 (owned by the same company) 3. His reception is fine and never drops out, has full bars if reception. I however are lucky to get half a bar reception. 2 days ago my phone dropped out 4 times in one call. Anytime I send a text photo message it says it hasn't gone through so I resent it then 2 days pater at 2am the other person gets my photo message 4 times. Now I bet I'm paying for that even though the phone says it hasn't gone through. Add that cost by 7 million customers and suddenly they earn a very tidy sum. Not good enough

I have made numerous complaints. One employee told me I had bad coverage in my area, one said I had good coverage but decided to put in a case due to my complaining. I still haven't heard a result of this! The same employee told me they don't guarantee coverage in a house or building, what the??? I quite often have no reception, have phone calls drop out and get messages and voicemail days late. This is no excuse for a world wide service. I will fight to get out of my contract!

6958 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very poor reception! at 28 Dec 2010 05:04:10 PM
I live in Kenthurst NSW and the Vodafone coverage here is very limited. The reception over the Christmas break has been worse than usual - just enough to send a couple of text messages, but they took forever to send. It is difficult to make or receive calls. If I do get through the call will often drop out and I will have to walk halfway up the street to get a bit more coversage before attempting to call back. Come on Vodafone - how about a bit better service before I am forced to change providers?

Rang to complain about my first bill for my Vodafone Broadband ADSL2+ I/net.
I was told by sales person in call Centre the first month was free ( comversation recorded so they claimed??) but Vodafone have charged me !!! I waited on the phone for 72 mins. before the call was answered only to be told by the employee in the call centre that I should wait 48 hours and check my online bill again to check if it had been corrected. I DID as I was asked and the result ?? No change.. I am not in the mood to ring again and wait another 72 mins . before being answered. I rang today, waited for 14 mins. but all I got was " Vodafone appreciates your call etc. etc. and we will be with you as soon as possible' ????
I hung up !!! No more bloody waiting for me.. The Broadband service does not work most times and when it does it slows to around dial up speed and invariably drops out !!! FRUSTRATING !!! I was told if I can get a mobile phone reception I should get ADSL2+ wireless Broadband... RUBBISH !!!! My mobile phone service also drops out at times. Trying to get a balance from Vodafone's OWN enquiry no. 1512 also frequently comes back with the answer " we apologise but unable to supply this service right now" or words to that effect. Now I am told if I want to cancel the service I will have to pay an early exit fee !!!! Ha !! Ha !! Let them sue me I say !!! I am about to cancel the whole thing... Peter G Hobart Tasmania

I am based in Sydney however my head office is in Dandenong South and when there I never got reception, I struggled at my hotel in Chifley. My wife was pregnant so was a huge problem. Drop outs in Sydney were regular and I often received voicemail messages days later. After signing up for a 24 month contract I was so sick of it I cancelled my contract at a cost of $700 to me. Vodafone sucks and I will never be a customer of theirs again.

For the life of me why would anyone use vodafone or optus networks. They are sub standard. In communications you only want the best and that is Telstra by a mile. They did have expensive plans but now they are as competitive as any. Don't settle for second best. And it is AUSTRALIAN. Vodafone is European and Optus is singaporian. So Get the best service and coverage at great rates at Telstra

I live in the Southern Highlands (south of Sydney) and i get NO internet coverage, calls drop out all the time (even when i try and call Vodafone's 1555 number), i don't get any 3G coverage and one bar of reception on a good day. I have called Vodafone at least 8 times in the last 2 weeks and spent over 10 hours of the phone in total with no resolution yet. I have been waiting for a return phone call since Tuesday last week and will be back on the phone to them tomorrow morning @ 8am. I have been a Vodafone customer for over 10 years and so have 6 other family members. We will all be leaving...

After complaining to Vodafone month after month in regards to their mobile data, and I kept on getting the same response I pass this on to our data team and some one will get back to you, they wring you alright 2-3 days later and if you miss the call you dont even know who its from. What absolute rubbish from a supplier who can afford to spend huge amounts of dollars on sponsorship but cant get thier act together with a service they are supposed to be providing. The eventually they got sick of me wringing and told me that i should look at at going with another provider, how about refunding the 2 years of my contract and all the frustrations and phone calls my time is money.the worst thing is they lie to you when you go the stores and tell you will have no problem with reception both with data and phone...Its time to pay vodafone I want all my money back......

I work/live in Sydney through the week and have constant drop outs and next to no service. SMS come in days late and do not get voicemail. The only intenet covergae I get is when I use my Telstra WFFI service. When I travel back to Newcastle I have no internet coverage, little SMS service and little call coverage. I attempted to ring Vodafone while at work and they said the delay would be over 40 miniutes so I sent and email detailing my complaint and got a short reply saying I should be using global roamong. If I didn't have a contract I would be seeking other service providers.

6937 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is 100% FAILURE at 28 Dec 2010 05:02:25 PM
1) SMS are not delivered for hours, this includes to other phones on the Vodafone network. Unacceptable.

2) I have a 1.5GB data limit per month. I have 3G reception but data will NOT work properly on Vodafone's network. I have to use a private WIFI to access data.

3) My girlfriend (who is also on Vodafone) attempts to call me when we are BOTH in areas with excellent Vodafone coverage and calls cannot connect.

4) I used to work for a select dealer of Vodafone on the NSW Central Coast and as such had my employment cut short due to being abused by Vodafone staff in company e-mails. No apology or action was ever taken.

5) While working for the select dealer I was also placed on hold for over 90 minutes while trying to investigate several complaints to our store about a service drop-out on the NSW Central Coast. After finally getting in touch with them, Vodafone denied any problem existed. Over 50 customers (including myself) experienced zero service.

They are in breach of the contract that I signed with them which clearly states what I pay them on a monthly basis and what they must provide to me. They are NOT providing it. They are liars. They now owe ME money.

Every month it seems to be more and more - I don't understand!! My phone call even drops out, poor admin- my name spelt wrong on my phone bills, Very poor customer service at the shops,, they send me bills I have already paid, I try to call them to talk about it- I get advised to speak to some pre recorded ladies voice. Service has completely disappeared about 3 weeks ago...one minute just fine...next minute can't get service at all. Can't make calls. Don't get text ,essages till days later. The phone doesn't even ring the network is so bad! Have tried (and failed) to get through to customer service (four goes on hold for over an hour.) Lodged a complaint online and was sent a response that didn't even make any sense. Was told a technician would be in touch and then got a text message asking me to call them but I can't get through!!!!! The email actually (laughably) raved on about how great the service is and 98% of Australian's can get network coverage. I have had enough. Planning to go into a store next week (which is 2 hours drive away) and throw the phone at them. We run a busniess on the phone number and have lost countless sales leads because people could not get through to us!!!

constant drop outs or no reception at all. I have spent hours on to Vodaphone.
Recently my Vodaphone iphone bill went over my cap because I had to call everyone that said they had tried to reach me and could not get though. Voicemail not even picking up. They keep telling me it will all be alright soon. I have an elderly mother and it is imperative that I have my phone on all the time. This is completely a rip off. They should not be charging customers until this is resolved. I will be getting my plan which is only 3 months old canceled and go to Telstra. I have had enough. I have lost so much business.
Even an assistant in one of the Vodaphone stores admitted her phone is really bad too.

After being a telstra customer for over 10 years I signed up to vodafone for the value I saw in their iPhone packages and was assured coverage was still dependable. I constantly have reception drop out, voicemail rarely works and due to poor coverage voicemails are received days after they are left. I would leave vodafone today if it wasn't going to cost me as I signed up for 24 months and I'm only 6 months in. I know there is nothing I can do other than ride out the remaining 18 months of my contract and then I'm gone from vodafone for good never to return.

6913 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is HUGE!!!! at 28 Dec 2010 05:00:19 PM
Calls dropping out almost regularly, in fact I can actually pinpoint whole locations where you are guaranteed that the phone call you are engaged in will almost always drop out in the city of Melbourne and in various locations around the suburbs.
Even on a pre-paid flexi-cap that's 39 cents everytime just to call back on top of the 89 cents a minute. I feel that this is absolutely deliberate, unfortunately given the above it makes economic sense to almost make sure and maintain drop outs at those prices.
The internet charges are beyond the joke $2 per Megabyte!!!! WHAT A RIP OFF!!!! No wonder I never use the net on my phone.
If the fixed the dropouts or just don't charge a connection fee I think they'd be at least half way there to fixing the most obvious of issues.
Lastly the sms prices are a joke as well.....sms costs the company basically nothing and to charge 29 cents for each 160 character text or 35 cents to send the same overseas, again almost minimal cost given Vodafone's international network, just stinks.
If there was a company that came into the market that at least covered even one third of these things I've listed especially the dropouts I'd leave Vodafone immediately.

My partner, my parents and I are all with vodafone, we all have reception problems and also internet issues. My friends don't get my picture msg for days later, my phone always drops out with almost every call. When I ring vodafone I always seem to get someone that cannot understand me nor can I understand them, I'm always on hold for ridiculous times. Vodafone has also stuffed up with my bills charging me way more then I have used and when I ask to speak to a manager because the operator has no idea what I'm talking about they tell me the manager will call me back within the next 24hours, I never receive that call back so I'll call customer service again and it seems there is never a manager on duty! I also have vodafone internet for the computer which I can't use because that also NEVER and I mean never has coverage!

While setting up the next contract period I was told that 3 now are aligned with Vodaphone and that the network was superior than what I had. with no way of knowing otherwise and putting trust into the salesperson, at the time I was happy to change.
my children live in Taylors Lakes and are schooled in Sunbury, both suburbs of Melbourne, not considered rural or remote. There are two different handsets in use with the same result, very low signal in Sunbury and literally nil signal in the Taylors Lakes home.

no signal, poor reception and after several phone calls to their 1555 number i was "upgraded" to the networking people/ still waiting for a phone call from them 6 weeks later. of course in the meantime i have recieved 2 bills from vodaphone.why should i pay them?
they have cost me $000's of dollars in lost business and customer base.

When I visit family in Tasmania I can only get reception in Hobart and Launceston and some places up the main highway.
PPlaed I don't depend on mobile.

6902 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is HUGE!!!! at 28 Dec 2010 04:59:43 PM

Terrible service depsite living close to the CBD, in a location where other providers have strong reception.
Incredibly frustrating customer service and extreme wait times on hold, in one instance 1 hour and 15 then was hung up on.
Tried website, did not work, went to one store - no help, tried another told to go to website, website still not working, called customer service again, told to go online...ggrrrrrr
Unfortunately I am locked in a contract until Sep 2011, when I will be changing to another provider!!!!

And then they have the hide to charge me extra for going over my cap (which is supposed to be unlimited).

6877 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Disreputable at 28 Dec 2010 04:58:11 PM
We signed despite having coverage problems with Vodafone during a previous 2year contract.
The rep showed us the so called coverage map purporting to cover 90% of Australia, this combined with free Voda to Voda calls and a perceived generous plan, persuaded us to try again.
Absolute disaster, coverage outside main populated areas is almost non existent, when re entering the coverage areas voicemail messages may come the following day, never when they should. Same problem when turning the phone back on after flights, this is very poor in a business arrangement, with important info not being received when it should be.
My daughter sent me an MMS on Xmas day I received it today 28th at 2.30pm
To top it all we were locked into the contract before we got the new phones and my wife & I receive very limited coverage in the Galston area where we live, sometimes no coverage for hours on end. We decided 6 months into the contract we couldn't take the loss of contact anymore and purchased 2 pre pay phones from Telstra. These work everywhere We can't wait til March when we will be rid of Vodafone forever.

I was sent picture messages on the 25 December and again on 26 December. I did not receive these messages until 5am on 28 December.

I called Vodafone about a week ago to reset my 'online' account, I waited an hour, the couldn't resolve my problem and asked if they could call me back, I instead requested a text msg to confirm the problem was resolved. I was asked if they could help me with anything else, I said yes, I wanted to know how much it would cost to cancel my account. I was then transferred to another 'department' and YES, I was on hold again, so I gave up and hung up!

I have also had periods of now network coverage in the Sydney CBD which resulted in my calls going directly to Voicemail.

So over it!

I only have 1 bar of reception at home and absolutley no internet access on my phone. Everytime I make a call, It drops out. I call again and it drops out again. It's an endless cycle.

Sometimes when others try to call me, they can't get through as it says my phone is switched off or not in coverage - but it's not switched off and I am in coverage.

I have expressed my outrage with vodafone's horrible customer service. After waiting more than 45 minutes on hold, I was put throught to a person who clearly didnt know how to do his job.

I demanded he change my $99 plan to the $65 plan at NO charge - he did so after I threatened to contact the Ombudsman.

6793 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible at 28 Dec 2010 04:48:33 PM
Can NEVER get any sort of mobile internet working on my iPhone. Type in a web address and sit back and watch the lack of connectivity. Nothing happens.
My girlfriend's phone on the other hand, is perfect - she's on Three. It's the same network. What the hell is going on?

I'm leaving and going to Telstra.

6789 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Very at 28 Dec 2010 04:48:14 PM
This is not new. A year ago when I signed my 2 year contract I got pretty good reception in my local area of the central coast of NSW. Now calls dont even get to my phone and neither do the voicemails. They arrive hours later. Too late to call back and business lost.
