Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

This is a copy of a recent complaint sent to Vodafone: This is not so much a question as a complaint, however seeing as the on-hold time on Vodafone for my husband last time we called was 1 hour I have opted not to call. By the way, if I hear that Vodafone apologise for the wait and will be with me 'really soon' (stop lying to me 'Lara') I will literally throw my phone across the road (that's right, we have to walk up the road to make a phonecall, even though we live in Eastwood; the middle of Sydney!).
Basically I am completely sick & tired of the fact that I simply cannot make a phonecall from my mobile while at home, nor can I use my Vodafone internet. This means that I cannot call anyone, cannot contact my husband or my mother or numerous friends who are also on Vodafone (and also SICK to death of the bad network coverage in Sydney CBD). To compound the problem, whenever I try to call vodafone to complain, (which is rare, as I rarely have enough coverage to do so) I am put on hold for an immeasurable ammount of time.
Thankyou Vodafone for living up to your new nick-name of VodaFAIL & completely failing me & my friends & family.

Vodafone is no longer in my list of good service providers, they have ripped me off several times.
Four months ago i got up for work and noticed i had no service on my iphone 4,
all day i could not make or recive calls at this point my blood was boiling when i got home i was on the phone (A LAND LINE) to vodafone they had redirected me to the network department in india, i was told to follow the trouble shooting instructions right their and then but no luck so they told me i need a new sim card and i can get one from any vodafone or three store, this is very hard to do when your trying to make a living. After going to five vodafone and three stores finally a new sim card and i was back online but it only lasted 27 days, so back on to vodafone same story need a new sim card, when i was finally able to make it to a store i was told they had ran out of sim cards and would not have stock for seven days i was told this at several stores. This happened to me four times im up to my fourth sim card
In these times i turn my phone off as it was as good as a paper weight. So many times they tried to blame the phone so i thought i would send it out for a service but Apple confirmed nothing wrong. Even after a new sim card still i have bad reception, calls dropping out and worst of all a slow sms turn over After many times on the phone to vodafone they still can not stand up and admit doing me out of my service im on a 79 cap my hard earned money down the drain because of their lack of interest for its customers thanks for nothing vodafone.

28 Dec 2010 05:47:54 PM: Ahhh the same Sim Card Story!!!!! I also was advised to go to the apple service centre.......was told nothing was wrong with my phone!!!!

Ok, I bought one of their mobile broadband services to plug into the USB port on my laptop. It's supposed to be 3G and is SLOWER THAN DIAL UP. I live in inner-city Melbourne - so Vodafone if you're listening to this forum, I want you to know that THERE IS NO EXCUSE for such crappy network performance. God knows how you'd go trying to service regional Australia when you can't even get metro right.
29 Dec 2010 02:34:15 PM: Yep it's total crap. It doesn't work in my flat. I live close to Melbourne CBD too.

At last, someone has thought of a way to make vodafail & 3 accountable. Having been with 3 for two years prior and having very few problems, I signed myself and my two children up with them for another 2 year contract. Shortly after the problems began!! Constant dropping out and no coverage. We could not use our phones in our own home. When I phoned them they were more than willing to swap me over to vodafail. to start a new 2 year contract. (we were already 4 months onto our contracts) They claimed the coverage for vodafail was better in our Area. thank god we didn't take up the offer. Now we just have to spend the next 18months waiting out our contracts.

7135 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is pretty atrocious at 28 Dec 2010 05:38:13 PM
Just tried to make a call and got an error tone and the message "congestion" on my phone.
I haven't had too many problems with Vodafone recently, apart from wanting to watch the cricket on the train home on Boxing Day and not having the signal to do so. If Telstra broadcast the ashes, I'd go to them (I do work for them, and our network is far superior it's just that if you want that network you'll have to pay for it)
My major issue with Vodafone was when I got my first contract with them. Mum signed it up in her name when I was 17 and when it came time for me to transfer it to my name as an 18 year old, we rang up and got it sorted.
Unfortunately, instead of doing a simple transfer of ownership, they cancelled my contract which had 18 months to go and charged me upwards of 700 dollars.
Not a fun first bill as an 18 year old.
I eventually got that sorted, but then mine phone died, and despite paying mobile insurance for it every month, they would not replace it as it didn't cover faults with the phones.
I ended up paying for a second phone ontop of my other plan.
Luckily now with 2 years experience in tghe telecommunication industry, I know how to get my way in and out of contracts so it's not too bad anymore.
But be suspicious with any deal they offer you!

sister has vodaphone as do I. One day I heard her arrive but was bathing baby. So picked up on my phone to say hav a cig, be there in moment. But call cd not get thru to her. She later confirmed Her phone was switched ON but she was not talking to anyone on her phone at the exact time i phoned. But i was told that caller was out of coverage. So i did a quick text which she got. So how come i cd phone her on my phone, but she cd not receive call?. And if i had coverage how come 40 feet away she cd not get coverage? We both have same brand of phone. Madness!

I am so frustrated with the network service over the past few weeks. I drop out of reception in the CBD & unable to make calls/resend messages despite the fact my phone shows 3-4 bars of reception. My 3G is ridiculously slow, I've had to resort to Internet browsing using wifi connections - Vodafail!!!

I tried to leave and they followed... What was I thinking? What are they thinking?
Everybody is in the same boat! A company just getting away with ripping of the hard working australian ... Fair Dinkum!
I signed to Vodafone almost 12 years ago, up until three years ago when Vodafone's service started going down, down in the sense the reception coverage dropped, the service from the providers got from worst to worster (not a word... but nor is Vodafone's offer of 98% coverage) I left Vodafone and went to 3 (Three)... What a deal I was in for!
Vodafone brought Three and there went my service and the coverage!
I tried to leave in October this year and was shown coverage charts and a great deal, if only I could use it! or ... not be charged roaming everywhere I go!
The biggest Vodafail is the vodafone station tower that Vodafone erected in our suburb (kambah ACT)... 'If I could climb up it, I dont think I would get any better reception!
You cannot track your usage like Vodafone promise, so how can the company give deals? (Misleading or What?) (Legal or Not?)
28 Dec 2010 05:58:47 PM: Vodafone and 3 still use separate networks, 3 is still in contract with TELSTRA, thats who your roaming to, 3 is trying to move people to Vodafone with the intention of ending there agreement with TELSTRA, Vodafone have been racing to upgrade the network, but looks like they have underestimated the capacity required and have started too late, they will get there but who knows how long it will take

I could see the Vodafone tower from my old apartment balcony in Chatswood and yet the best reception I could EVER manage was 'poor' from my wireless connection. To add insult to injury, when I went to Forster for a random weekend away, 8 floors up in my hotel, I got 'excellent' reception. Explain in what normal world would you expect better reception in a sleepy seaside town than the middle of Sydney. EPIC FAIL Vodafraud- I want to be disconnected from you!

7113 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Is it Vodafone? at 28 Dec 2010 05:31:33 PM
I'm not sure if my case is directly a Vodafone issue. I'm a 3 mobile customer, who I understand utilise the Vodafone network when out of their own 3G coverage areas (mainly capital cities). I spend a bit of time on south coast NSW (Jervis Bay) and have a huge amount of dropped calls, when signal strength shows 100%. Could this be the dreaded Vodafone? Not related, but I live in Riverwood (Sydney) and though I have 100% signal at home, I am continually dropping out. Can't be the phone as 2 other phones doing the same. Are 3 having the same issues as Vodafone or do 3 use Vodafone system around Sydney too??
28 Dec 2010 05:37:40 PM: 3 have their own towers and wherever you cannot get 3 reception, your 3 mobile will roam off of Telstra's network. Excessive roaming on the 3 network of late could possibly be explained by the merging of the two telcos and an amalgamation of tower usage. Vodafone expects this to be resolved in the next 6-8 months. That's what they're telling us anyway. <3 Your friendly neighbourhood VF rep.

I purchased the contract /new phone in a shopping centre got home no coverage at the beach where I live or emergency only discovered this immediately its been 3 months now and the phone was sent back immediately to Vodaphones Tasmanian ventre. They claimed to not have received it (in trackable postpak sent by vodaphone) I checked with Australia Post and it was checked as rec eived 2 months ago, luckily I have all my receipts from the Post Office. S o although their computer coverage check said my street and area were fine and the bloke at the centre is actually from my suburb I went home on that day of purchase realised it wasn't working, went into the shopping centre was told WE CANT HELP YOU please call VODAPHONE with an average 1 hour phone call waiting time and emails unreturned. I nearly lost a job because the company was trying to contact me, I hadn't heard from the company and luckily checked.....

I hjave been loyal cutomer of Voda for 8 years, But my experience in the last few months has forced me to look for another supplier.
What a jike- ustomer care line ( 1555 number). You never ever get a call answered with out having to wait a minimum 15 minutes ( regardless of the tiome of the day or day of the week). Then you are too afaraid to move around after waiyng 20 or 30 minutes for some one to answer your call incase you drop out ( it has happened to me on more than one occassion).

They think the option of calling you back is a good service - I don't think they ealise people don't have 30 minutes to sit around waiting for a call.

So the cutomer care line ( the lack of it), the drop out calls and the lack of coverage will see me changing plans.

Hopw do I get out of me curent plan?

call drop outs, voice messages 3 to 5 days late, no reception for days, poor call quality when I finally get through, slow internet and sitting on the phone waiting for someone from Vodafone to answer it after hours of waiting only to get someone who puts me through to another department and i'm left waiting again before the call cuts out. I am fed up with the service or lack there of. If you're ever late with a bill you get constantly msged and called to pay, yet when the service provider does not provide a service, there is no one to speak to.

7094 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is No problems here at 28 Dec 2010 05:26:00 PM
I have been with Vodafone for 11 years and never had a problem. Sure I have drop outs etc but hey so do friends that are with Telstra, Optus etc. It's funny how people changed from Telstra to Vodafone, is that because Telstra started charging monthly on top of your plan for a handset where as with Vodafone you got your handset for $0 or a small up front fee??? Or is it because Vodafone offer much better plans? Do you think we would have a similar site if the person who started this website was with Telstra or Optus and the problem is not the level of service but perhaps user error???? Battery life, as per the website owners blurb on the front page, is NOT A COVERAGE ISSUE but perhaps misuse of the handset (try reading the phone manual user guide on how best to get the most out of your handset), maybe we should setup an Iphone page or a Nokia page??? On a lighter note you have all provided some much needed entertainment to myself and partner as we have laughed ourselves senseless at this site. Signed a VERY HAPPY VODAFONE CUSTOMER ( and for those who are curious I am not an employee in anyway shape or form of Vodafone)
28 Dec 2010 05:34:00 PM: Regarding battery life... If your mobile has low reception or are far from a cell tower your mobile boosts the power to receive/transmit to keep a reliable signal going. If the signal is not sufficient and the power is boosted battery will drain quicker. Perhaps is Vodafone had a stronger signal our mobiles could work a little more efficiently...
28 Dec 2010 05:35:32 PM: what is the point of coming to vodafail if you dont think vodafone is awful? you are increasing site traffic and actually helping the cause just by visiting! haha, and to think you thought you were being different, thanks for helping out the site
28 Dec 2010 05:40:06 PM: Perhaps if Telstra Optus and any other Telco had better reception our phones would work more efficiently, however at the end of the day it's still a handset issue.
28 Dec 2010 05:42:24 PM: As per my original post, I came for a laugh and thankyou for providing a laugh. Furthermore ALL comments are welcome so I commented, got your attention, so haha thankyou.
28 Dec 2010 05:48:22 PM: Granted that mobiles today drain battery quicker since they have larger screens, faster CPU's etc, still does not change the fact that the network is utter crap at the moment. It was not always this way, i certainly am not imagining the way my mobile performs....
28 Dec 2010 05:49:28 PM: And yes, I have had many laughs too, some hilarious comments but some people do take themselves a little to seriously...
28 Dec 2010 08:20:10 PM: People will probably not do much with this website as less than 1 percent of the customer base has posted here... If they did, they would actually READ the posts and that includes all the positive stuff and nopt base any decisions on.... OMG 1,000,000 ppl have been on vodafail.... we must sue them! seriously, it's a nice thought, keep closing the page and opening it again to 'create traffic'... lol!

7093 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Extreme at 28 Dec 2010 05:25:50 PM
Here is an email I sent to Vodafone only a few minutes ago after being on hold for over 35mins.

Hi,

I've been a Vodafone user for over 15 years and have not have many problems until the past few months. The problems I'm experiencing is as follows:

Dropped calls
SMS takes 24 hours or more to send and receive
MMS messages not receive to I send them to
Mobile internet very slow and drops out
Visual Voice-mail on my iPhone 4, receives messages hours and sometimes days after the message has been left

All these above problems happen when I have what appears to be full signal strength.

I am paying for a service I believe that Vodafone is not supplying.
Also it is very difficult to get through to any customer service staff.
Does Vodafone think that its customers have hours to sit and wait on hold?

I will be reconsidering my service with Vodafone over the next few months and I may recommend to my Family, Friends and Work mates to avoid Vodafone if the want to receive a quality service.

Vodafone should stop sponsoring the Cricket and invest money in its network

I hope to get a reply from this email. But as with the mobile service I doubt it.

Thanks

I randomly lost credit and was charged to send FREE texts. I was also told I had free Facebook and Twitter on my phone, yet I was charged when I went on Facebook and Twitter. I tried to take matters into my own hands and call 1555 to speak to an operator, I was on hold for an hour and a half the first time and fours hours the next time that I tried on a different day. I sent them a complaint email, and to their credit, they replied in 2 days but it still does not erase the fact that they put me on hold for six and half hours total. IN the email reply they stated, "Vodafone regrets any inconvenience you have experienced due to the delays you have encountered. Vodafone are attempting to address the longer queues by investigating our current rosters, we are also currently training new staff that shall be available to take calls in the near future." Please train people faster and so they actually know what they are doing.
When I tried calling previously to ask a question about my faulty phone, I was put on hold for a lengthy amount of time and was then forwarded somewhere that was of no help.
I also had no coverage for half of Christmas day.
I am sick of talking to 'Lara' and I want REAL customer service, or I'm moving companies. Sorry Vodafone, I've been with you for at least 5 years and now you've completely lost the plot. Hmm.. What company should I choose? Optus? Telstra??

I run a small security firm, I signed a contract at All Phones placing a condition on the contract: Subject to coverage Deer Park-Rockbank.
After failing to send bills for three months in the business name, as appearing on the contract, I attempted to resolve and discuss the issue at times faxing them the lost contract (weekly). I refused to pay the Bill until it was changed into the contracted-business name which still has not happened. They tried defaulting my credit rating and the Credit Agency on contacting them removed the Default within weeks of being provided with all documents. Service and coverage is so much worse than the Largest Telco whom we all hate due to same lack of customer service and time placed on hold to fix issues!

7082 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC-FAIL! Vodafone is Vodacrap! at 28 Dec 2010 05:23:57 PM
On Dec 8th, I first realised I had no service at work when I received the "Network Lost" message around 3:30pm. I didn't get reception til to after 4:30pm when I actually was at home. I wasn't overly annoyed, but I would finish work soon. I did log onto myvodafone at work to check if there were any network dropouts and of course, the page wouldn't load properly.

On Dec 9th, I arrived at work at 7:30am and went to phone my sister- lo and behold- "No Service" and that stupid message of "Network Lost. Your selected cellular network is no longer available. You can choose a different network in Settings." So I turned off my iphone. Didn't work. I reset it. Didn't work. I did a master reset. It didn't work. I took my simcard out. It didn't work. I tried this at random periods through the day, and of course, NO SERVICE. And that stupid message would always pop up to select a different network. How the hell am I supposed to select a different network when I am contracted to Vodafone? Their old saying of "I want to be connected" is more like, "I'm going to be disconnected- from everything".

So only after I returned home around 5pm, I had service again. It was after speaking to my sister that she informed me that she had heard something about Vodafone making some statement in the Sydney Morning Herald about admitting the 3G Network being totally crap. I knew that they were also combining with 3, so I just assumed it had something to do with it.

I could get over that, though I was supremely angry- but as I am an obsessive note taker, I wrote everything down- dates and times, with things I was doing, and swore if it happened again, I would call.

So enter Christmas Eve. After recently moving to Parra, you would THINK I would be safe in the knowledge I would have FULL service- but of course not. Leaving my parents place about 20 mins away- I had absolutely No Service with that now irritating "Network Lost" message showing. Across 6-7 different postcodes along the way down Woodville Rd to Parramatta, and in dead centre Parramatta- I had No Service, on the one day of the year where friends and family members were trying to contact me, and me needing to contact them.

I've had it with them. I called them up, and of course, after being told on the phone that they would call me back after 30 mins- (wayyy over an hour later) I spoke to a woman. I was FUMING! She had the nerve to ask me if I had turned my phone off, like I was a complete moron. It was the first thing I did! And her suggestion that I switch the phone to 2G... I told her where to stick that idea. I pay for a 3G connection. I even pay for an extra internet package that gives me 6GIGS of data a month. I couldn't access ANYTHING or call ANYONE.. and you know what she tells me? That I need a "new" SIM card.. like it's MY fault... Only she was a bit stumped when I told her I had a new SIM given to me in February. So of course, I now have to go and get a "new and blank" SIM to try and see if that works. She actually didn't really have much to say except advise me to go to a vodafone store and get a new SIM.

I didn't sign up on a 24 month contract (with the phone) and the 12 month contract (Internet Data) to have a glorified iPod touch! If I wanted that, I would have bought the iPod.

I made the woman also make a record on my file that if this happens again, as they cannot provide me with the service that I signed up for, they have voided my contract and I will be taking my business elsewhere.

I'm so angry at this, and all the apologies from the company. I want the problems fixed or give us all an out or pay all of our bills until the service is fixed.

7078 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is to the extreme! at 28 Dec 2010 05:23:11 PM
I don't get any coverage in my office building in Pyrmont (unless I walk to one of the windows and hold my phone a certain way while standing on one foot!). I have been receiving voicemail messages days after they have been left. All up, I have wasted at least 6 hours of my life on hold and with these jokers and after finally getting through I was told they couldn't process my cancellation as they would need to open an investigation. The investigation took another 2 weeks and didn't improve my service so I called again to cancel but got my bestie (Lara) instead. She asked for the reason for my call and then told me the wait was more than 30mins so I decided to take her up on her kind offer of returning my call as she assured me I would not lose my place in the queue... I left my message at 5:55pm on 22/12/10 and they were nice enough to call me back at 12:10am on 23/12/10. But not before having a recorded message telling me someone would be able to assist in MY CALL in a moment!?! FAIL!!!
When someone finally got on the line, they told me their cancellation dept was closed and I would need to call them back...I then may have become a little frustrated and yelled...I mean asked whether they knew what time it was in Australia? ..They didn't but when I told them, they thoughtfully explained "at least you will be able to sleep well after this call"????? WTF????
Suffice to say, I am now with Telstra...Vodafone can chase me for once...

live in Virginia SA. Coverage maps show 100% 3G coverage in my suburb. Not so. Very poor reception where w have to stand out the front of the house and hold the phone up in the air and talk on speaker phone. Also in a number of spots on the road the phone makes a horrible scrambeled sound. Mobile internet is totally crap anywhere in Adelaide. Constant need to reconnect and then slows down to unusable after a few minutes.

Despite many assurances, vodafone 3g does not work in Inverloch 3996 in Victoria. It only occasionly works, for moments in Melbourne!!!! After many angry discussions, one of their technicians finally admitted that there was NO coverage whatsoever in Inverloch. I was stupid enough to believe their speil and I took out 2 broadband subscriptions with them. They don't want to know me now as I want a refund IN FULL for both these ????services????? They finally sent me an envelope to return one USB ?thing? .....they are still trying to charge me, and am still waiting for the envelope for the other useless USB ?thing? I have wept my eyes out with the frustation, extra cost and anger at their absolutely useless service and their blatant insistance that their broadband works ok. They tried to tell me that the fault was with me, or my computer. It works OK with Telstra!!

You actually CAN get out of your contract if the reception in your area is non optimal/genuinely poor. It's in your contract. Call customer care, SAY: LOYALTY and hold your horses. There are a few procedures that you need to go through, yes. That is the standard with any contract. Most customer care representatives will ask that you perform a sim swap and an isolation test before allowing you to cancel to confirm that reception IS the issue. Get these done before you call; just go into your local store and any knowledgeable staff will know what they are. If you're not happy, then get educated on the fine print and leave.

When I send sms messages it can take up to 12 hours for them to be received. I can be talking to someone and my whole phone will shut down and 3 minutes later will turn back on. I have been a customer of vodaphone for over 5 years and stuck with them because they said 2010 was the year of upgraded coverage. When I resigned and they showed me the coverage map I was impressed, but it has not been true and I have no coverage in the place that they said would be the best. I have rung them and they told me that it was my i-phone and to hold down the button on top and the cirlce button (if that makes sense) together to reboot the phone. It doesnt make any difference. I have had no problem with the service of employees with vodaphone as they have always been helpful and compassionate. The problem is bigger than the people manning the phones. They can only do and say what they are instructed. Thankyou

7048 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is just not cricket despite the sponsorship at 28 Dec 2010 05:17:29 PM
Had a BlackBerry 9700 (contact signed in May 2010) that was having constant dropouts from day one. Had the phone swapped, repaired etc. without success. The Vodafone store I bought the phone at were helpful, however it was Vodafone themselves that have dropped the ball.

I have had situations were I have missed calls during a period where I was seeking employment, was trying to sell my car and when my wife locked herself out of the house. I was receiving constant SMS voicemail alerts for calls I know I didn't receive and was unable to make calls even while I (apparently) had 5 bars of 3G service. Changed the mobile options to 2G/3G, reset the phone to factory default settings, restarted the phone, did diagnostic tests without success. This is despit the fact I live in Sydney's Iner West and work on the 15th floor of an office building in the dead centre (Town Hall) of the Sydney CBD. I was used to the service dropping out to SOS in exactly the same spots every day on my morning ferry ride into the city.

After repeatedly calling their 1555 number and spending an hour or more on hold, I lost patience and complained to the TIO, who in turned followed up with Vodafone. Vodafone's TIO department called a few days later and offered me a BlackBerry Torch 9800 at no cost as a replacement. As I have been a Vodafone for 15 years I wanted to gve them the benefit of the doubt and offer a chance to redeem themselves. The replacement phone was ordered by Vodafone's TIO department on December 2 and I was told it would be here within 10 working days.

A week later I called to check on the progress as I simply didn't trust them and was told again that the order was placed and I should call back within a few days if I hadn't seen the phone. 12 working days later and with no phone, I called to see where it was and was told that it was on back order and I should get the phone sometime in January. I lost it and told them that the phone was in stock when I called in early December and that I was not hanging up until they located one. Mysteriously my phone arrived the next day. While the calls are marginally better, they are still not good enough. I put the improvement down to the 9800's superior reception not their network.

I am paying for ADSL2 but am receiving worse service than my old dial-up network. I also experience constant dropouts with the Internet and it often takes two or three attempts to get connected. Forget downloads it takes me up to 5 minutes to open an email! Worse still I constantly have my phone reading " searching" and my device constantly drops out. It's meant to be 3G but I'm not getting what I'm paying for. I'm currently waiting for a call back and that was over a week ago!! The last time I spoke to someone about my Internet I wasn't even talking with someone who lived in Australia and the last time I spoke to someone about my phone service they had me on hold for 45 minutes and then couldn't help me and had the audacity to send me a questionaire via email ( which I couldn't bloody open)
I have threatened not to pay my bills but then I'd have creditors chasing me!

Vodafone is the absolute worst phone company around! I have to walk around like a fool when im out trying to look for reception everywhere i go. It's like trying to find a needle in a haystack! Everytime i'm in a call the phone drops out, messages don't send, i try call people and it results with 'CONNECTION ERROR', people try call me and apparently my phone's off.. How good is that! I use vodafone for my business mobile aswell and that looks really good for me to have clients try call but my phone results as off or always cutting out. I've been so close to throwing my phone at a wall so many times even though i know it's not the phone, it's just it's ridiculous service provider! I am an anonynmous employee of Vodafone. I currently work at a Vodafone store where i can say i genuinley feel our customers pain. I am backing this website 100% and glad to finally see that some serious action has been taken against my employer. As an employee at a store who tries to deliever the best service with every customer i encounter, i feel we are also treated poorly and given tools which can be proven at sometimes to be 'hopeless'. We as frontline staff are also directed to use the general cutomer care number 1300 650 410 which even staff wait 2hrs at times! There is another number we are able to use however it can also endure a painful wait for our customer from 20mins-1hr waits often only to be transffered back to our general customer care and most of the time 'getting nowhere' till the customer gives up and leaves the store, then an email is forwarded on, there is no simple/immediate resolution. It is extremely embarrassing and frustrating when you are an employee and one of those told to back your compamny by the company when you feel they are not even backing their employess with the right tools and expecting employess to deliver great customer service. We experience alot of frustration and anger from customer which i can totally empathise with. It can be very mentally challenging and many times have you in tears. As an employee agree with the customer but feel i have no tools, support, genuineness and most importantly trust from vodafone to deliver a great service eg. as a manager i have to call to get credits on accounts, call for repairs that have been misplaced, call for approval on pretty much any action which includes helping the customer. This includes network isses which i feel as an employee are not taken seriously by our care team. Vodafone need to get their act together, give employees and customers the power to resolve issue immedialey over the phone and store contact. IT IS AN OUTRAGE that i as an employee has to agree with Adam. Go Adam!!
28 Dec 2010 05:17:20 PM: Thank you for your comment. It means a lot to the Vodafail team coming from an employee. We hope the situation could be resolved soon and you can receive some more support from the company. - Vodafail Team
28 Dec 2010 08:47:07 PM: you should NOT be in customer service, my honest suggestion is that you change your profession. Things cannot also be solved with a cick of the fingers and to make it sound like your company is a complete mess is grossly incorrect a poor worker blames his tools, There is a reason why this saying has been around for so long. it sounds like you are completely dishonest to customers. i would like to see proof that the higher management told you to lie to customers as this is what you seem to be inciting. You should make it your goal, your mission to record every customer complaint and ensure that you reply to every single customer yourself directly!!, The fact is as a vodafone manager you have failed to communicate the problems effectively and have waited to the excuse my language "shite has hit the fan" and are now blaming higher management and try to make yourself the victim. i know i might sound harsh but just admit that you are as much to blame if you were doing your job and the others that hold the same role did too this website would NOT exist
29 Dec 2010 12:20:05 AM: ^^ did you not read his post? is it his fault that the network is struggling to cope? do you want this store manager to climb the local voda tower and fix it while you wait in store? fuck, you are a retard.

Heck I can LIVE with poor coverage in certain areas, but if I pay for a phone and it DID work in my home, then I expect that it should continue - what REALLY peeves me if the way that you CANNOT contact them at all - the 'contact us' on their website is not active - you wait for hours on hold and THEN if you happen to hit the jackpot and actually get through to a real person - they can't help you anyway and just offer rubbish platitudes than make you feel like you have wasted your time!!
As for LARA - she should be fired from a nuclear missile to hell and beyond

7022 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is mobile and internet at 28 Dec 2010 05:13:05 PM
drop out during important business call and emails. Losing catering deals due to drop outs and no reception to call back and through emails.extra charges to retrieve voicemails whilst the mobile has not rung.costs lost are at least $1500 over the last 2 months to my business due to their poor and no service.
When I ve call on a number of times their service is rediculous especially the recorded voice of LARA it drops out, she doesnot understand what you really need and you are put on hold for hours and get nowhere which in the mea time you run a business and your customers see you on the phone and walk out.
Once i left my number and yes they call me back at around 7-8 pm and after explaining the situation to them they stated that they would get technical support to call me back which they never have till date. And to top it off the people you do talk to over the customer care line are not from Australia and have an accent which they do not understand your needs. Pathetic poor service!!!

7018 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EXTREMELY at 28 Dec 2010 05:12:17 PM
my phone constantly drops out and goes from full reception and no 3g, to no reception and 3g, to "searching..." to "No Service" all whilst sitting in the same spot.
I was once left with "No Service" for about 8 hrs.
I have called Vodafone to tell them about my frustration only to be on hold for an hour and a half then the phone dropped out, then I called back and was on hold for a further 2hrs, when i finally got through the man couldnt seem to understand what my problem was and I had to repeat my situation a few times his only advice was to reset my network settings.
I also went into a Vodafone dealer and there only suggestion was to change my sim card, which didn't work because i'm still experiencing problems.

7010 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 28 Dec 2010 05:10:09 PM
A couple of weeks ago I swapped internet providers to Vodafone, being PROMISED I would have coverage as the girl in the store supposedly lives 5 minutes from my house. I was with Crazy Johns (same/similar company, whatever) and have had nothing but trouble with their lack of coverage. Only went with Vodafone because apparently my USB wasn't covered for replacement any longer with CJ...... Have only been able to have a couple of hour sessions IF THAT during the month so far. I am seriously frustrated, sick of error messages and no coverage. I spent 20 minutes on the phone to have someone to help me fix the problem with it but I never got through to anyone. Will be canning the contract in the next few days as soon as I can organise to go with someone else. I have never had any problems with my mobile (Vodafone prepaid) but I'm looking to change that now too. Don't tell me that you can provide something if you can't!

7009 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is terrible network at 28 Dec 2010 05:09:57 PM
Rang to complain about my first bill for my Vodafone Broadband ADSL2+ I/net.
I was told by sales person in call Centre the first month was free ( comversation recorded so they claimed??) but Vodafone have charged me !!! I waited on the phone for 72 mins. before the call was answered only to be told by the employee in the call centre that I should wait 48 hours and check my online bill again to check if it had been corrected. I DID as I was asked and the result ?? No change.. I am not in the mood to ring again and wait another 72 mins . before being answered. I rang today, waited for 14 mins. but all I got was " Vodafone appreciates your call etc. etc. and we will be with you as soon as possible' ????
I hung up !!! No more bloody waiting for me.. The Broadband service does not work most times and when it does it slows to around dial up speed and invariably drops out !!! FRUSTRATING !!! I was told if I can get a mobile phone reception I should get ADSL2+ wireless Broadband... RUBBISH !!!! My mobile phone service also drops out at times. Trying to get a balance from Vodafone's OWN enquiry no. 1512 also frequently comes back with the answer " we apologise but unable to supply this service right now" or words to that effect. Now I am told if I want to cancel the service I will have to pay an early exit fee !!!! Ha !! Ha !! Let them sue me I say !!! I am about to cancel the whole thing... Peter G Hobart Tasmania

email plgdees@hotmail.com
28 Dec 2010 07:00:37 PM: ummmmm wireless is not ADLS stupid!
28 Dec 2010 07:30:15 PM: They won't sue, however you will get a black mark against your credit rating for failure to pay your bill as with any company, which in turn will mean that other Telco's will refuse you due to poor credit rating. My suggestion, if your matter is not getting resolved request to speak to a team leader. Also given the time of year, it is likely you may experience high wait times when calling ANY call centre, try Telstra, Centrelink etc they are all the same not to mention today is a public holiday. Getting on your high horse and sticking your head in the sand will not resolve your matter. Another way to get a balance enquiry which at times doesn't always work (just so you know), is to send a blank txt to 1555 or call 1555. No service is 100 percent perfect and if you find one that is please let the rest of us know. Christmas is a busy time of year for all telco's and they ALL experience issues ( network congestion, outages) .... My what did we do before mobile phones and internet????

Rejoined Vodafone in March 2010 and within the month remembered why I left in the first place. Took 8 weeks to get my voicemail set up (website down & tires of being placed on hold by India - store staff of no help), call dropouts every day, daily call failures - 4 bars yet still searches for reception. Tried having a conversation with a fellow Vodafone user (he was in Merrylands I in Balmain) phone dropped out about 15 times. Poor service and if it didn't cost me so much to get out of contract I'd be gone.

I am getting drop outs, lost coverage and last week I had a bereavement in my family in England. They tried to text me due to the time difference and all they got was that my network was down. I found out several hours later.
You go to support and all you get is India following a script. I wanted to complain to Vodafone Australia and NOBODY would give me the number which included customer support in India and stores in Sydney.
Does anyone else know a situation where you have a contract with a company and you cannot contact their head office

My phone constantly drops out or Informs me I only have access to emergency numbers. Text messages can take up to 12 hours to arrive, e.g. a friend sent me one at 6.00pm and I received it at 4.25am the following day. I have no coverage at the MCG I could not contact my children at all and was in panic mode for half an hour!!!! Not good enough!!!! I am unable to make or receive calls from my work in the Ferntree Gully, Basin area in Melbourne. I took 70 students to Canberra where we were struck by gastro and my phone was noy usable thanks to vodaphone and I had to borrow a phone during this emergency!!!!!!!I got no satsisafction when I returned to Melbourne and complained, just given yet another SIM card. I have been in to the store at Eastland 5 times to be told each time it must be the SIM card or the phone, absolutely not the company. Today I was there complaining again, them not believing me, especially re the MCG when another customer agreed with me.They just told me to ring yet agin Customer Care, been there done that and no satisfactory result. I was told upon signing 12 months ago coverage was excellent, what a lie!!!!! I just want out of this contract so very much!!!

Have been with vodafone for 7 years & loved them. Over the past 6 months however i haven't been able to send or receive messages, make or receive calls, reception is rarely over 1 bar. So we thought oh well, our phones are 2yrs old now, maybe they are on the way out. We went to Vodafone, got a new phone & signed back up for another 2yrs. Mega fail!! My partner, who has the same phone as me, but is with Optus has brillant reception, we can be in the same room, nect to each other & he will have full or almost full reception & i will have none.

I just went out for my holidays and I did get my laptop and iPad with because I was thinking I have iPhone with but for a while o forgot I have a dump service provider vodafone in it.
As soon as I went out 50 kms from my town towards country I found slow network and very soon it's completely died. And it left me unable even to make voice calls... Means No service...
I understand it may be because in country area..
But as I arrived in Canberra late in the night and I try to search some restaurants or other tourist attractions it left in trouble means No Internet service throughout the night even in Canberra city centre...
Simultaneously my wife was using another network which was working heaps better then mine..
This was really a Ridiculous for me...
So frustrating when you depending on something and it does not respond positively.

When every I try to make a call I have either no recption or after a few seconds the call will drop out. A lot of the time I have to hop in my car and drive around to improve my reception. I use to be on the 3 network and was add vised by the sales clerk at the 3 store to change over to vodafone as they had brought 3 out . The funny thing is when I was with 3 I had no issue with reception at my place. If Vodafone now owns 3 shouldn't I have add least the same preformance or even better ?

6986 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Dead to me at 28 Dec 2010 05:06:24 PM
Hi,
I was a Microwave satellite communications technician and an Austel licenced telecommunications technician.
When I assisted Vodafone to put their mobile networks together around 15 years ago, they were the place to be.

Telstra had reliable coverage, but at great expense. They never seemed to be there when you really needed the coverage or the customer service.

Optus had lousy coverage with excellent customer service. But in direct competition with LIFELINE, they could counsel the customer to the point of curing mental illness...(if the line didn't drop out first...)

The end result of all this was that about half of all mobile calls were connected, completed and subsequently charged exorbitantly by Telstra.
At least when the other half of calls dropped out, you had someone who you could whinge to at Optus who would say "Yes" quite a lot.

Out of this came the shining beacon that was Vodafone. With their reasonable call rates, customer service and coverage!!! Once the news was out, all the technicians switched to vodafone in a flash.

Yes coverage! Vodafone had their own equipment! Without even resorting to network rental arrangements like all the other carriers had to do - 3, boost, dodo etc.
Because of this I used Vodafone for mobile telephone service for over 10 years, still do unfortunately.
Not for much longer!

Then I bought a prepaid broadband USB modem through Vodafone. After going to numerous Vodafone stores to wait AN HOUR to be served, only to find that the USB unit had "sold out" or was "out of stock". I then arrived at 2 separate Vodafone shop locations actively listed on the Vodafone website that were out of business.

I could have had the USB modem delivered by carrier pigeon by then, or made one myself with a broken digimon and a stick. As a tech I have installed (or failed) 4 of these units now, no two are alike. PC compatibility issues are rife.
The $49 USB modem does not even work in most netbooks, effectively making them underpowered miniature desktops.

Reception is appalling. I can see the tower from my house, it is 30 metres away. Line of sight!
As for the install - It would have taken less time to write the prepaid broadband USB software myself than to install it.
Registering, connecting and doing the initial install was the single most slow, painful and emotionally harrowing process I have had to endure in 20 years of software installation. It must be illegal under some convention somewhere...

Vodafone must have their website powered by underfed anorexic dyslexic hamsters.
These Hamsters are multitasking as the overworked software engineers...
The dead Hamsters in the bottom of the cage used to work customer service...

Mobile Broadband reception still drops out in the slightest breeze like UHF used to. I have tried USB extension cords (with some minor increase in signal strength) and modified broadband antennas. I am now blasting myself with enough RF to create my own personal cancer cluster or reheat a meat pie in three minutes...
At least it keeps my coffee warm while I sit through the install program - AGAIN!!!

Short of putting my PC in a Faraday cage and raising my own antenna mast or installing a parabolic dish on my head I cannot see Vodafone providing anyone with a usable mobile broadband connection.

Let's face it Vodafone, these towers were never designed to carry this amount of data traffic at this bandwidth.
The equipment is 15 years old, outdated, superseded and needs to be able to provide a continuous, consistent, reliable and strong signal. Roaming from tower to tower, 3G to GPRS and back again is painful, costly and disruptive.

Retailers should install "Vodafone" recycling bins at the front of retail premises. The junior work experience kid's arse has been turned into a thrashed USB port by the sheer number of returns this Christmas.

It's only 30 metres from my place to the tower. Hmmm... Maybe if I get a long piece of coax and climb up there and hard wire the bastard myself....
Oh sorry! That's called ADSL - YOU MORONS!!!!

I run my business from home but can't make OR receive calls, I have to drive a few blocks away (& I live in Randwick). It has full reception (all the bars) but as soon as I make the call it goes to one bar, then drops out. I sent texts to my kids to pick them up from school but gave up after the first couple of times as they get them hours later...dangerous!
I was told it would work at the country town I'm originally from that I visit regulary, but it doesn't at all. I was also told I could go to a lower plan (as my ex husband got me the phone at a high plan price promising to pay for it, but refused after he'd signed me up) but then told later I couldn't.
I can't get onto the "my vodaphone" site, can't upload apps, & am sick of being told to take the sim card out whenever it tells me "no connection" or "not allowed"! I as lied to....I want ALL my money back as I have lost so much money retrieving messages & re-making lost calls.
In short, I've been in tears a few times when trying to make urgent calls...but never can when they are important!

~ i went into a vodafone store to get help face to face. they told me my number didnt exist. i got a friend to call me with the one bar opf signal i had. and it rtang. but no - "you must have told people the wrong number" what?? it just rang!, "well the number you gave me doesnt exist." "can i call my phone using one of yours". and shock horror it rang - but on the system it doesnt exist. so they tried to charge me to use that number despite it not being on their system! i showed them that it was vodafone and it did exist but i had no signal and no one was helpful. they told me to get a new number, a new phone and new plan. all vodafone of course! i said no and walked out. 10 minutes later i found that they had disconnected my number. i went back and the person i spoke to said that it was recorded last time i came in (the 10mins) that i wanted to disconnect that number and start on a new number with a much higher plan - and they charged my credit card!
i only went with them as they have the extra money offer like the $29 cap = 160. Never again!
~ sends texts or receives texts up to 2 1/2 weeks after they were sent, usually in the middle of the night about 3am, which is unacceptable in the extreme!.
~Not letting calls through (to 000) when i needed police help! they told me that the network was busy and try again in an hour!
~ instead of sending one sms when it is written, it sends multiple - even 46 copies to the one recipient. AND I WAS CHARGED FOR EVERY SINGLE ONE
~ vodafone hung up on me when they said that they couldnt help me, also saying - judst deal with it
~ being on hold for over an hour EVERY time i call
~ not being able to understand basic problems and then told not to ring back again when i rang several time with the same complaint.
~I live in rural victoria with no reception, i went to melbourne to get service and in thge heart of melboune there was zero bars. i was told that my phone was faulty - deespite it being a vodafone phone. i bought a new phone, an expsensive one and it was still the same
