26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

8443 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is 0 out of 10 at 29 Dec 2010 01:34:46 PM
I am a Three(vodafone+hutchison) customer, am experiencing the same problems! 3-care was going to transfer me to vodaphone this afternoon, to improve my reception! According to them, Flynn in the ACT is in a blackspot and Vodafone has good reception!!!

Mind you, 81 drop-outs between 22-28 December, mostly roaming in all parts of the ACT, including the airport, swinging between 1 and 2 bars when on 3G!

What a mess!!!

8440 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is fail at 29 Dec 2010 01:33:28 PM
I have had an ongoing saga with reception both with my phone and internet. Vodafone have credited me the last 6 months of contract however will not let me out of contract nor let me take my number until end of contract (9/3/11). I was told to 'buy a prepaid phone'. It is affecting my work as i cannot get reception in the hospital I work in a large city. The internet is even worse, my reception is shocking and was assured it would be great as they were apparently merging with 3, 18 months ago, I have recently been informed this isn't for another 18 months! Vodafone staff will not help with the internet at all, most of the time we have no access which is why I am writing this at work. I am counting down the days until march 9 so I can change provider, this has been the longest and most agonising 2 years.
29 Dec 2010 01:43:15 PM: I changed providers (due to poor coverage and dropouts )with 5 months left to go on my Vodafone contract, in store they told me my payout figure was $330.....a bill arrived on Xmas eve from VF for $550, Merry Christmas from Vodafone!

8438 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is SOS Calls Only too often at 29 Dec 2010 01:32:29 PM
I am in Coffs Harbour which is a mess in itself. The Network coverage of Vodafone is very patchy. Complaints made on the phone more often than not use up my credit while on hold. While VF have the longest life of credit on pre pay when the correct plan is chosen,it does not compensate for the drop outs, non connection and missed calls.
I have purchased pre pay Optus and Telstra phone which have n coverage area problems at my location, so Vodafone, please explain !!!

I was with another network before vodafone 3 months ago and left them cause I was told vodafone is the network to be with cause they have a better network than the rest.I was told before I joined that there was a service tower in the area with access to 3G & 2G All I have had since then is problems, firstly I have changed my blackberry handset 12 times in 2 months, they kept telling me it was the handset, then they said it was the sim card they changed that 3 times and the problem is ongoing as we speak they said they will call back(this occurs on average 3 times a month) since I have connected with vodafone I have had dropouts in the middle of business calls, people try calling and it says my number is unavaliable or disconnected,I have tried calling my wife on several occasions and tells me her phone is disconnected, tried calling my wife on several occasions and it tells me her phone is unavaliable and then when i get through she tells me my phone is on with full service. My wife has the same problems when she tries calling someone she gets either a cherping sound telling her that she doesn't have service, the number you are calling is unobtainable, the number you are calling is disconnected, the number you are calling is un avaliable etc. I send picture messg for work and the picture mesg either don't get received or get received 5 days later at the earliest this is a very important role in my work as to dealing with things that need to be attended to asap and I am unable to complete my work due to this problem and then the work gets taken away from me and given to somebody else with better access to these pictures.Text mesgs sent and received as well don't get received until 2-3 days later. My emails in the first 2 months of connection are always received 3-4 days later I have lost so much business cause of vodafone.I am willing to go to the extreme to voice my troubles with them cause they have caused me pain and grief with my personal and business life. I have in the last 2 months told everyone I know that is willing to go to vodafone not to. I will never recommend vodafone to anyone.Steve from Merrylands NSW.

8435 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Poor reception at 29 Dec 2010 01:30:10 PM
In my work I travel Australia and spend days to weeks in regional or rural centres and for the two years of my contract I have been unable to get a signal outside a capital city or major regional centre despite my colleagues with Telstra and Optus being able to get good signals in most populated areas.

The day my contract expired, I transferred to Telstra and have been stunned by the range of their network compared with Vodafone.

On the positive side, their staff have been very helpful in turning my data on and off on nominated dates while I travel overseas (a feature which I can do myself with Telstra without assistance).

8429 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is ABSOLUTELY SHOCKING at 29 Dec 2010 01:28:38 PM
Have had Vodafone for many many years despite the fact that NOT ONCE has a call remained constant without dropping out. We live in Cherrybrook in suburban Sydney and have 3 mobiles on Vodafone. NOT ONE of the phones [all different brands] can reliably receive calls in our home. The phone MAY ring, usually not, and if it does manage to ring...the caller ALWAYS drops out! We are NEVER able to be contacted, nor contact each other within the local shopping centre, nor at Castle Towers- monstrous shopping centre- whilst every other telco users CAN receive calls...NOT US VODAFONE SUCKERS!. Calls constantly drop out, every single call, EVERYTIME!!!!!

So we bought yet another 3 cheap mobile phones recently in frustration and connected them to VIRGIN. Uses the Optus network, however Virgin coverage seems much much better The phone ALWAYS RINGS! AND is definitely available in the shopping centres mentioned above. Still trying it out though. As far as Vodafone goes, they deserve what they get for not using local call centres and employing Aussie staff to service customers. Like Hutchinson 3 Mobile they shoved us off to India & elsewhere, and just like we did to THREE 3 mobile , we are now giving Vodafone the BIGGEST SHOVE OF ALL!!! OUT THE BLOODY DOOR###

I had no reception for 4 days; I had no credit; tried to recharge online; had to request a new password; password was going to be text to me; I had no reception to read my text; had to recharge from my mobile either - couldn't recharge from land line; 5th day got 1 bar after walking to the very end of a 5 acre block and whilst holding my umbrella in one hand and the credit card in the other and getting wet, I finally recharged. From Nanango, Qld to Kilcoy, Qld I had no bars at all. Not impressed at all. Oh, and I never received the text with a new password.

8426 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is What a freakin mess! at 29 Dec 2010 01:19:23 PM
I changed over from a pre paid account to post paid and now have a Blackberry that is completely useless because i ave no access to the blackberry internet server... what a joke!! Talk about false advertising. They have sold me a service that I can not use to check my emails, use social networking or even use a map on.... basically i have a glorified touch screen fone that was described as a smart phone..... and then the hassle of getting to talk to some one who knows anything.. i've been hung up on, transferred to closed sections, and misinformed time and time again. When can some give me an answer... well, how knows, but i know this, i'm using the 30 cooling off period to send back this piece of crap and changing telco's.... enough is enough.

I did not have a problem with Vodafone until this year. My old phone stopped working and when I got a new one I have had nothing but problems with the network. It stopped sending and recieving text messages, then it stopped showing missed calls. When I asked Vodafone (politely) how to fix the issue they fobbed me off and told me I was doing something wrong. Eventually a staff member slipped and said I was not the only person having problems but they could not fix it. As soon as I said I was switching carriers the problem suddenly got fixed,(for about 2 weeks). I ended up having to switch to another carrier just so that I could use the phone.

8421 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is The picture of fail at 29 Dec 2010 01:15:50 PM
On Christmas morning, I opened a present addressed to me from my mother in law. Clearly she hadn't been concentrating when wrapping them, as my parcel contained earrings and a necklace- undoubtedly intended for my wife. As a joke, my wife got me to put them both on, and she snapped a photo of my on her phone to send to her Mum in Perth. Of course, the picture wouldn't send due to the 'unforeseen' high network traffic of that random calendar event known as Christmas Day. Two days later on the 27th, my mother-in-law received the picture of me wearing earrings and a necklace on her phone no less than 30 times! She said (understandably) that it was starting to get downright creepy. To get any reception whatsoever in our house in central Sydney, my wife and I have to walk around waving our phones in the air looking like we're either attempting some form of bizarre mime, or adjusting the coat hanger aerial on a TV built in the 1950's. Currently I'm on a 24-month, $79, 1 gig a month data plan for my i-Phone 3G; the functionality of which roughly resembles a tub of yoghurt. Half the functions such as YouTube and so on refuse to work, so now I don't even bother. I went into the Vodafone shop today and felt sorry for the polite girl who shook her head, told me I was one of many and to try the Vodafone website or speak to Lara. Elaborating on her tale of woe, she told me that the Vodafone management tell them nothing and that like me, she only knows what she reads in the paper. I explained that I'd already spent an hour of my life on the phone to Lara and finally was emailed a form telling me how to 're-set my i-phone,' when it clearly has nothing to do with the phone. I told the girl in the Vodafone shop that I'd give it a couple of weeks out of good faith (yes, I'm a softie) then go to the Ombudsman to try to break the contract. Basically, I have no choice but to move to Optus, as the phone hardly works. Perhaps Vodafone is right to concentrate on trying to recruit new customers via their cricket sponsorship. Because the current ones are leaving in droves.

Vodafone keep telling me coverage will get better ? Its been 3 months now and its costing my money in redialed connection fees as well as my home landline going straight into message bank. On top of this its totally impossible getting through to customer care and furthermore Vodafone won't fix my daughters 6 month old Nokia and told me to buy another.. I've been a customer for 11 years, I have 4 family members on Vodafone as well as staff at work. I have to make the painful decision to change the whole lot to another provider ??? Customer care emailed me saying they are away till 4th January.. I don't need this stress just mobiles that can make phone calls..

8419 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Total waste of money & time at 29 Dec 2010 01:11:36 PM
I had been a Vodafone customer for years. I didn't mind putting up with the crap service because they had the big caps so it wasn't so bad. But then it got even worse and everytime my call drop out i had to call ppl back so it was costing me more and more. I would get txt days after they where sent or not at all. Never had reception, the coverage was SO BAD........ I would get charged twice for one txt sent and when recharging my credit over the phone by credit card i had been double charged more than one time !!! I was on hold to Vodafone for hours at a time to get my complaints heard. I have now switched to the bigger phone provider and i get full coverage and great service. BIG thumbs down to Vodafone or should i should i say Vodafail !!!!!!

8415 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Major Fail!! at 29 Dec 2010 01:09:07 PM
Me and a few friends compared our iphone 4's at the cafe yesterday. We had a Telstra, Optus, 3 and my Vodafail iphone all side by side on the table. These are the reception results:
1st: 3 (5bars full reception)
2nd: Optus (3bars)
3rd: Telstra (3BARS)
LAST: MY VODAFAIL WITH A PATHETIC 1 BAR!
Now here's my dilemma; If the transplant team from westmead hospital tries to contact me to tell me that they have a suitable kidney but cant get in touch with me, then who do I blame?
Some people have phones for business, some have them for leisure.
And then there's a group of us that wait for the lifesaving call.
Pull your socks up Voda!
29 Dec 2010 01:44:23 PM: So what was the 1st one again with 5 Bars? Or did the 1st and 3rd both have Telstra?

Since launching 3g umts 900 coverage map is not a true representation of coverage take inglewood in the hills, blue area shows should have coverage but no coverage on nokia 6121 or 3120 whatsoever coverage map definently does not show handheld Vs carkit or external antenna reception.
Also since voda decided to merg all metro towers to share with three seems problems with both voice and data, sure merge the network but make sure the network can handle the capacity strain.

I bought a Iphone through vodafone, six months ago, ever since then, i have had more trouble with "No service and dropped out phone calls" than ever. I was told coverage was great, and that i would have no problems at all. I live in Bundaberg Qld, and I can sit out side or driving down the road and have no service at all. My phone worked by sending MMS messages, but now it won't send any picture messages at all. I have rang vodafone and they say to restart or reset the phone. This has not helped in anyway. I am a disgrunted customer and will never buy from them again. I pay my monthly account, even though I cannot use it to the full extent. If i wanted to play games, or listen to music, I would have bought an ipod, as the phone is useless. No way will they cancel my contract, they lose money, but i'm the one out of pocket. thumbs down for Vodafone, you've lost my respect. My dad has a heart condition, and now bundaberg is flooded and has no home phone services, i look to use my phone, and the damn thing has no service. Good On ya...

To the previous persons trying to defend Vodafail for what they are, I take your point about cheap prices get cheap service. However, there is such a thing in Australia called "minimum service requirement". It's clearly that Vodafail did not meet that at all. They are worst than catching a train in Melbourne and Sydney. Just try to imagine that, your car broke down somewhere in the CBD and your phone had no signal or can not make a call due to network problem. Do you think somebody will really come and help you? Worst still, if you are a lady get chase by potential rapist, a working mobile would be great savior in these sticky situations.

can't make calls when at home as i get little or no signal - calls drop out constantly (this has been the case for at least 3 years). Cannot get signal with internet on my phone and no reception with mobile dongle for the desktop PC either. Paying a total of $129 month yet cannot use internet at home or make phone calls - couldn't even dial 000 when i needed to the other night (Thankfully it wasn't gunshots after all)!

Tell me again what i have been paying for? Up until now i figured all telcos were prob the same and no point switching (have had bad experience with Telstra with work phones etc...) but now find out i've just been getting ripped off month after month after month.....

Never reach the limits of my cap coz i can never make calls or use the internet services i have been paying for! Will def be changing to someone else when my contract expires again in 12+ months (grrrr)....

8396 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Very bad coverage at my working area at 29 Dec 2010 12:52:06 PM
My company has provided all the staff with Vodafone's Top Business Cap Plan as we are using the mobiles to communicate with our clients and service providers. The network services from Vodafone is getting worst and worst. I even can't make a call from my desk in the office. My office is situated in Wanniassa. Another example is when I was using Bluetooth while driving, the line would always dropped out and had to wait for the network to come back, then to call back and apologize to the person I have been talking with earlier.
It is really bad for us who are using Vodafone to communicate with our clients. Another thing is the frequent delay of receiving and sending of SMS.

I think the best thing for us to do is to change the Provider from Vodafone to Telstra when our contracts with Vodafone is expired.
29 Dec 2010 12:59:29 PM: Don't trust Telstra either - I have it in their black and white where they have double charged me, then added $280 to my a/c and as for the TIO, all I can get from them is, 'please fill in the attached form' (which I have frequently) but you might just as well 'use' the fan!

8395 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Maximum at 29 Dec 2010 12:50:54 PM
Brief story 1: I was charged $700 for international roaming where Vodafail claimed I downloaded 42 GIG of data - onto an 8gb iPhone! Took me about two solid days to fix upon my return.
Story 2: Was billed excessive use charges ($180) on an $80 capped plan without major increase in useage. Called 1555 to complain and after 30 mins on hold, connected to an Indian call centre: he offered to delete my excess useage if I switched to the new 'infinite' plan. Initially I declined as my 24 month plan ends in two months and I'm counting down the days so I can exit, so I didn't want to 're-sign'. He assured me - after me asking four times - that my contract would still end in two months. ASSURED me!!
One week later I visited a Vodafail store to check, and the f-wit HAD signed me up for another two years!!! This was voice recorded! The Sydney instore guy was helpful and had it sorted after 20 mins (after two call dropouts to the call centre!) but after three weeks, I have just got my latest bill and now my latest charge is $250 on my $80 cap!!! And I barely use my phone. Aaaarrrggghhh!!! And I won't go into the dropped calls, the poor service or any other problem. Vodafone, your service, your network and your call centres are a joke!

8393 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is 10/10 FAILED at 29 Dec 2010 12:50:45 PM
I was with 3 mobile and I was very happy with them. I was told by operator that I should move to Vodafone as they had the Samsung phone I was after immediately and they were not sure on time span with 3. I was advised that the service and network was the same as they were now the same company. From the day one, I had problems from the phone not even working in some areas of my house, and did so previously. The calls cut out during a conversation. This is not very proffessional when talking to clients. I sometimes get messages later (eg: a day later), which again could mean losing the chance of a job. So when you call someone back and they say, I did not hear from you, so assumed you weren't interested so I got someone else....NOT GOOD. So when calling Vodafone for assistance, I could not even get through to a live operator, and went throught the computer bimbo and by the time I went through all options, it hung me up....I just gave up in the end and thougth I just have to deal with what I have. Now that I find this is a regular occurance, I hope something will be done finally. If I had a choice, I would go back to 3, at least their calls dont drop out and the phone works at home, no matter where I am.

I call her and the line drops out when it says I have 3 out of 4 bars. Even worse, when I was travelling on a train from Central to Dapto, I lost all reception from Redfern to Wollongong.

I am not on a plan, I am prepaid and was looking to go on a plan when I get a new phone. Looking like I won't be going with Vodafone, I have lost all confidence in you.

8389 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Doesn't fail too hard at 29 Dec 2010 12:49:48 PM
Look. I've been reading many of these complaints, and many people have simply ignore the complexity of the issues that they face. For example, handset problems:
-One person claimed that their handset broke and Vodafone refused to fix it. Now, the reason why was never made clear- but I believe that they may have had an iPhone. The iPhone, unlike every other handset that Vodafone stocks, is covered by only a 12 month warranty.
-Another person claimed that they got no signal with their iPhone 4 whenever they went to make a call. This is the iPhone's problem, again. Holding the iPhone 4 in your left hand kills the signal- and that's not Vodafone's fault.
Then, you have people who didn't actually troubleshoot:
-One person claimed that although they could see the Vodafone network with their mobile broadband device, they couldn't connect. I had the same issue- it turns out you must go into settings and pick "contract" or "prepaid" depending on the service you have.
-Another person claimed they were unable to send a text message or access the net with a nokia phone after getting a phone unlocked from another carrier. This may be because they didn't set up the short message service centre (SMSC), and they didn't set up the access point.
Also, I've noticed some racist comments being made about the service centre. Look, again, most telcos outsource- and frequently to India. They try their best I hope. Tell them that you know your rights, and if the coverage is not good in the location, and they troubleshoot and nothing works, ask to speak to a supervisor. You are allowed to by the rules to get a supervisor to speak to you if you ask 3 times. and they can break contract.
I hope this has helped. As for me, I love Vodafone. I have a Nokia N900, fine with mobile internet, but my mobile broadband sucked in terms of speed, so I asked, and they broke the contract, and sent back the modem.
Regard, Dr. B (a happy Vodafone customer)

Haven't hadc too much trouble with my Blackberry since purchased last year however last few days has been a shocker. Use as my 'out of office' emails so as to contact people who send me queries about homes we sell and Vodafone coverage is terrific (or so phone says) but cannot send any emails, nor make any calls. Phone just says "call failed" and can't even get through to 1555. Called the 1300 number and was waiting so long ended up leaving other number for them to call me back (but won't be holding my breath). Not happy geoff!!!

The only way to get any reasonable use from my iPhone 3GS (on Voda 24 month contract, about 10 months to go) is to leave 3G switched off at all times.
Once you turn it on you get poor coverage, little to no data and drop outs galore.
Voicemail often fails as well.

I just want to get out of the contract without early cancellation fees.

I thought phone companies were supposed to provide adequate phone service at the very LEAST???? How can they still be in business!!??

Customer service... Vodafone you should be ashamed of yourself.... over an hour waiting on hold and still no resolution or they simply say 'I will all you back' and of course they don't. They started my new contract before I even had my iphone delivered, jamming texts, poor phone coverage, call drop outs constantly.... the list goes on... If you can't provide good phone or customer service, then don't PRETEND and LIE like you do.

I have two phones connected to my account. One I use and the other my 15yrs old daughter uses. She continually complains to me about her network coverage. She travels to and from school on a chartered bus service to her school. The phone is for her safety and security to contact either of her parents or other person in the event she misses the bus or is involved in after school activities where she can contact someone to pick her up. The original handset which was part of the contract practically disintegrated after 9 months and when I asked at the shop front where the contract was signed the same shop assistant pointed me in the direction of the manufacturers repair centre taking no responsibility for the poorly performing handset which they provided.
I have since purchased a new handset to replace the not paper weight provided initially.
Additionally even with the new handset when my daughter is at home the service coverage is not very strong.
I infrequently travel for business purposes and the personal and the supplied business phones are both vodafail and the coordination to meet clients has cost me time and frustration with clients.
On a separate issue I rang the call centre to access My Vodafone, as every time I have tried to log in to sort out my own problems I get incorrect user name or password. I rang to reset my password update my account balance, left a message for them to call back they said 23min. 28min later i called again and left another message for them to call me with a 45min wait time.
My second logged call was returned first after over an hour. The password was reset, asked about my balance they assured me the information had been updated. I logged in to see that the details had not been updated and that my request had been ignored. While logged in a received the first return call now over 1.5hrs after the due 23min not quiet 2hrs later. The call centre person was rude and dismissed me when i explained the situation that this return call is over 1.5hrs later than the information provided.
I sent an email to complain and was provided with a very automated please contact the manufacturer of the handset, if the handset is part of the contract then the responsibility under the contract as its their contract part of their responsibility to provide service to that contract.
They wanted to know the name and store location as a way of satisfying my compliant on their poor service performance both at the call centre and at the shop fronts, the coverage, contract serviceability and dispute resolution.

I have only just had this website brought to my attention and I am pleased to know I am not alone in my battle with Vodafone.

I have been a Vodafone customer for more than 6 years however only recently moved from pre-paid to a plan. For more than 3 months now I have had no service or so little network coverage on my phone that i cannot even send text messages, receive phone calls etc. Everyday when I arrive at work I am inundated with texts and voicemails from missed phone calls. I have to be more than 3 kilometres from my house to make a phone call and even then it still rings and then cuts out. My frustration is that the service was working but is only now failing. Something has to give... I would be happy with a cleared contract so i could choose a new provider... and preferably one with no Lara.

Change from 3 to Vodafone because I was told from a 3 representative that where I live the network will be much better. Note: 3 and Vodafone have the same parent company nowadays and they did not want to lose me I reckon.

95% of the time when I am at home, I don't have reception. It's really a pain and I have end up using my home phone now. But my partner has an optus and I do have a telstra for work and they both have reception.

The 3G internet is always very very slow. Can't even look for something on the internet. And it is the case in the city too. Whereas other service providers are quick.

Customer care is zero. You have to wait for nearly one hour before you get someone to talk to you.

When I got my phone, it was without a sim card in it. For nearly one month, I was without a working phone. And despite calling numerous times and waiting several hours on the customer service.

All I can say is the coverage map on the Vodafone website is not a real one. Don't take it into consideration. Their signal keep dropping out and it is even more stressful. Cheap but not worth. Go for optus or telstra.

I was without service for ~3 days two weeks before Christmas - it seems that the Palm Beach (Sydney Northern Beaches) tower was not working. A few times every day, I had to drive 10k to Mona Vale to get reception and pick up any SMSs :-( #FAIL

This was particularly frustrating as I work from home and my Vodafone/fail mobile is my only contact.

How is it possible that Vodafail *cannot* fix a tower in suburban Sydney for &three* days???

Thankfully i haven't had any experiences with call drop-out. My main issues are with poor reception. I know that if I go into a supermarket, then without fail, by the time i am half-way in the store i will have no reception at all. This happens regardless of the location of the store.
And at my girlfriend's house i have virtually no reception at all, unless i hang out the back door near the garden, then i have one bar. But even then the reception is so poor it's pointless making a call as you can't hear the other person. And this is at Chadstone, not in the middle of the bush!

i changed over from tpg to vodafone , i was told when i signed up that vodafone network jumps
over to other 3g networks in bad reception areas !! this is not the case !

infact if i turn 3g off i get a little better reception , i never had this problem with tpg !

Also email !! i have a optusnet account , I cannot get my emails on my phone !!!!!!

they work intermittently and work fine on wifi but not thru vodafone 3g network .

i have to try 15-20 times to get an email and it only works sporadically !!

the other solution is to go thru webmail but that defeats the purpose and usability of iphone !

note i did not have this problem with tpg i email worked flawlessly !

i tried calling and following this up with vodafone ! , they acknowledged ! there is a problem with vodafone servers communicating with optus servers !

what do i do now !

can i be released from my contract with vodaphone !

me and my friend signed up together same day ! , same deal , he sent me an email an hour a go , guess what ? no email yet !

Haisam .

Until two years ago, Vodafone was great -- immediate connection to a human, fast service and the rest. It is now a disaster. Complaining to the company doesn't work; I've done it about six times and asked for the CEO's office. No luck there. It's not the call centre employees in India's fault, it's the company and the executives of Vodafail who allow a Telco to operate this way. The billing is a mess, there is no customer service, reception is dodgy, especially data connection, and the waiting time and failure to fix problems is reason enough to not stay with Vodafail.

It seems that in some sections of sydney CBD and surronding suburbs the recpeton is full strength, but away from the CBD as in 50 kms away (Camden, Mount Annan) the reception is poor or if any. Living on the northside of Brisbane (5mins from the tower) I can be sitting in my lounge room and watch the reception go from full bars to nothing to 2 bars within a space of about 5 minutes. I have never had a problem with coverage from vodafone in the past but since switching from pre-paid to contract have had nothing but.

As I type I have my partners and my phones side by side; he has 4 bars (but the data & phone are still lagging) and I have nothing.

My partner relies on his mob for work as he is a driver and gets all his jobs sent to him via text and email. Feel sorry for the poor person sitting at the airport waiting because he hasn't received the job.

It's about time that Vodafone actually start really listening to the complaints and do something about it

I have been with Vodafone since mid 2009 and have had nothing but issues with my Blackberry Storm.

The only place I get reception is outside of our house. I actually do not bother making any phone calls from my handset as often as I used to with another network. It is highly inconvenient. I've attemped to lower my cap numerous times and have given up after 40mins+ on hold. When I finally speak to someone, they advised that they are going to charge me $70+ to lower my phone cap, which hasn't happened to me before.

Their sim cards burn out too easy and I've had to go to the store to get a new sim for my phone. It is way too inconvenient to hand my phone in for a service, so I just put up with it.

I need to exit my contract because Vodafone do not compare to other services in the long run. Vodafone is certainly a Voda-dud.

The day that signal dropped for a lengthy amount of time was when a member of my family was critical in hospital and Vodafone became VERY VERY unreliable.

Not impressed Vodafone.

Changed from Telstra to Vodafone at the beginning of the year....Bad mistake! No reception in Buderim and Golden Beach with little in between. Just manage a day before my battery karks it as it searches for reception most of the day. Travel for work (Mackay, Weipa, Dalby and Dysart) and get no reception so now I have a prepaid Telstra phone just for work so I can contact family and friends....just another expense! As far as I'm concerned this is a failure to provide just the BASIC service expected from a telco. Once my contract is done I will NEVER sign with Vodafone again. No wonder we will lose the ashes with sponsers like Vodafone.

If IM trying to make a call often it will give me a connection error.Having been with telstra, optus and 3 over the years i have no doubt that Vodaphone is by far the worst and wish i could get out of my 2 year contract :( It makes running a business hard and communicating with loved ones a hassle. With all the technology we have these days why is it so hard to simply make a phone call? I had heard rumers that vodaphones reception wasnt the best, so during the purchase of my handset i asked the staff about coverage and reception in my area which he showed me was fine and that it will get even better once they merge with 3. I feel like i have been lied to and missled. If i had know how bad it was i never would have entered this contract.

I am lucky if I get a voicemail within 24 hours of one being left. Even though my reception is shown as being strong, I get constant drop-outs - not disconnections, but the call goes silent for a fraction of a second, so I have to ask the caller to repeat what they're saying. Considering I'm running a business, this isn't very professional.

Also, if I get sent a picture message, it will often take at least 24 hours to reach me, and when I send a picture message it often takes just as long to send. I have also had a few instances where text messages haven't been received by me or the person I've sent it to.

Then comes the data issue. Strong signal and 3G? Rubbish. Pages take FOREVER to load and mail often fails.

The 2 most common places I use my phone - St Leonards (60% of the time) and Gosford (40% of the time). Hardly the sticks.

Epic Fail.

I have no reception in my house, I will have full reception then suddenly my Iphone 4 will cut out and start searching for reception its not good enough and I am locked into a 2 year contract. I am with the 3 network and they were fine until they were bought by vodaphone. I am on the $69 plan and was paying around $70-$80 a month. As soon as vodaphone tool control my bills are now in excess of $200. I have done nothing different in the way I use the phone. I was not informed by 3 that they were being sold to vodaphone and when I called them, after hours of being on hold, their help desk was anything buy helpful and I was left with no questions being answered. I am now stuck with a rediculous plan that doesnt meet any of their side of the contract, no reseption and no way out of the contract for another year. This phone company is an absolute joke and I would even say it is a crimanl act.

8305 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 29 Dec 2010 11:36:11 AM
I have two phones on the vodafone network for the past 8 weeks. During this time I have had next to no internet access in Belconnen, Civic and Kambah. Phone calls drop out all the time. Delayed SMS. In addition to that the credits that should have been applied to both accounts ($100 on one and 1 month free plus $50 on the other) have not been honored despite 4 phone calls to customer service.

I am now trying very hard to exit these contracts. Worst phone experience ever.
29 Dec 2010 02:17:53 PM: Just got off the phone with vodafone. Both contracts cancelled. Just have to return the phones. No exit fees. Very happy now.

Aside from non-existant reception and lousey customer service, are my husband and myself the only ones that have had epic problems getting our mobile phones unlocked from vodacrap? We bought our Nokea E71 phones from vodacrap outright, on pre-paid, now we want to change carriers, and vodacrap have said they are unable to unlock our phones. I spent all last Thursday on the phone to them trying to get some answers and got no where.Has anyone else had this problem ?
2 Jan 2011 09:55:12 PM: Yes. I was assured when I bought my phone outright that unlocking it would only take a few moments online. It actually took a month of calls and emails. It's now finally unlocked - woohoo! Getting the service cancelled and a final account sent looks like it will take a while too. But I'll be rid of them eventually....

Wireless user in Brisbane in an elevated position with a clear view of the city and my reception has been terrible ever since purchasing this option, when travelling regionally reception seems to be hit and miss as well. I use a Telstra wireless for my work and it's 10 times better no matter where I am.

8300 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Horrible! at 29 Dec 2010 11:33:43 AM
- I originally wanted to renew my contract with 3 and was told that 3 and vodafone were merging so I may as well join vodafone now... I told the man serving me that I did not want an iPhone so he sold me a phone that was meant to be "easy and simple to use" - I took his word for it, when I got home it was samsung's version of an iPhone!
- Had a billing error at first so thought I would go into the shop as opposed to dealing with someone on the phone. Waited behind a couple who were getting an iPhone who were clearly friends with the girl who was working behind the counter... speaking in another language to each other, she left me standing there for 20 mins before breaking conversation to say to me "Im going to be awhile, what did you want?" (In a bothered tone), her solution was to thrust the phone in my direction to "call the help centre" - hard when you don't have reception to call or stay connected
- Living in a unit, my mobile is my only source of a phone... and I cannot get reception anywhere at home unless I'm pretty much laying horizontally in a certain spot on the balcony... move even a cm and the call drops out; try and send a message and it will pick and choose when it wants to send.
- Forget about getting onto the internet... when you do it constantly says, "request timeout" or is extremely slow!
- Will have full reception on the screen, go to make a call and won't connect - look back at the phone and I have no reception. I didn't even move!!!

Vodafone wireless internet - very poor reception around center of Blacktown, no reception around Bankstown Hospital.
Vodafone mobile phone - very very poor reception around Bankstown Hospital. Also the signal is intermitent.
Vodafone network coverage in Sydney is terable. The company does not invest in Australia just want to suck the money out of this country. We need Communism in Australia, we need one good publicly own mobile company. Capitalism and competition pail to delivier. The companies act like cowboys in wild west.

I have all my families phone and internet services with Vodafone pre-paid. I am extremely frustrated with vodafone especially when it comes to my internet connection. I have been unable to use my internet as it just wont connect or it connects but then cuts out constantly. As it's pre-paid if my credit is unused it does not roll over so I am losing money and I believe I have no grounds for compensation. And as for my phone services, let's just hope I don't go into early labour while out alone with a mobile that just wont pick up reception!

8282 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 29 Dec 2010 11:15:03 AM
I live in Brisbane city and do not receive network coverage in my home. This is a joke as I am not living in the bush. I have to try and move around the house to get a signal. Max bars I receive are 1. Because the coverage is so bad I have also had to for the first time in approx 5yrs have a landline connected. Also as part of the service I pay for I am actually unable to get inet access and the little wheel just spins around & around.. am fed up with watching this and being unable to use the service I pay for. Sometimes I will try to make a call and it just won't connect until after 5 attempts. Text messages are also a big problem! Sometimes it will take 2hrs to receive a text from friends. One weekend my phone just kept texting the same message to my friend over 20 times during the day.

The customer service is appalling from the shops to that stupid voice recorded "Lara" and I am sick of trying to explain to someone in Egypt my problems and where I live

1 Jan 2011 07:58:36 PM: You wouldn't be in Sandy Bay would you? For my USB internet on Vodafone, I had to buy a 3m long USB extension cord and stick the USB OUT THE WINDOW to get any sort of reception, even then it's very VERY slow

8276 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Useless at 29 Dec 2010 11:07:31 AM
I have been jobhunting and have to give my a landline as my contact, because the likelihood of me getting a voice mail is practically zero. I have had voicemails and texts come though up to a week later. This has caused me to miss out on work. Cals drop out frequently, the coverage is absolutely terrible. I live 20mins from Penrith and have NO service at home. Often the phone call will simply not connect, this is particularly bad when I am calling someone who also has vodaphone.

i don't mind the occasional coverage issue, because at the end of the day i get what i pay for.....3/vodafone have the cheapest plans going round, so what do you expect? if you have to some to bitch about why don't you pay more money...tight arses....
29 Dec 2010 11:36:05 AM: nah there is genuinely more problems than usual, but no it's not affecting everyone on voda!

They'll work out, they were planning on the network upgrade yonks ago, they just sold to many plans leading up to it and ran out of time, they'll catch up, OPTUS
had a similar problem not so long ago, they just got a better timed jump on it.
29 Dec 2010 11:40:09 AM: This is why a tech agent will still go through all the troubleshooting with you as useless as it may seem, because many customers are able to use their devices things just need some tweaking, it might actually work!

8273 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Failing like a fish on land at 29 Dec 2010 11:04:23 AM
I work in Homebush bay NSW and i have no reception with either my Sony Ericsson Satio or my HTC Desire HD. Both Phones run themselves flat trying to search for reception. Although where I live in the Blue Mountains the reception at my house isnt too shabby but only at my house. Everywhere else like the Great Western Highway in the whole Blue Mountains is very patchy consistently getting dropouts at the same locations every time and gets worse depending on time of day. At the top of Lapstone hill in Glenbrook is terrible, Warrimoo near train station and Woodford Bends. If it gets worse and no resolution is near I will move to Telstra and pay the extra $30 a month for a mobile service I will be actually be able to use.

My internet connection rarely connects above a poor signal. When I lived in Florey and now I am in Queanbeyan it is the same. I went to Vodafone at Belconnen and they told me their signals were strong for both areas. On their map of coverage both areas are shown as good coverage. Also I have a lot of dropouts especially after midnight. I leave the internet connected while doing other work and I get a tone and check it out and it says that no signal is detected.

8262 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Monumental FAIL at 29 Dec 2010 10:52:35 AM
I have been with Vodafone since 12 December. I was previously with 3 and experienced the usual service issues but always had excellent customer service. Since my contract with Vodafone began I have had little to no reception. My first day the entire network was down. I received a free wifipocket with my contract and have never had reception to be able to use it. I called customer support after trying the usual troubleshooting options and after being on hold for about 30 minutes rused the option for them to call me back. 2 hours later I get a call back to be told I need to be transfered to another area was put on hold for 5 minutes and when i eventually got through I managed to relay my name and the nature of my support issue and then the reception dropped out. Any calls I make or receive only last for 6 - 8 minutes before dropping out due to connection error. Had I known about this site earlier I never would have committed to a contract with this provider. Good on you for initiating this site and allowing people to stand up and be heard!!

8261 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Fail of truly epic proportions at 29 Dec 2010 10:50:06 AM
There has been countless times that i have been without coverage for up to a week at a time. Being in regional South Australia i was told after inquiring a few times to Vodafone Customer Service the reason why there is no coverage. I was told that Vodafone was upgrading to 3G in our area and it has never eventuated. Now with my contract Vodafone seems quite content in taking my money every month and i have never had a customer service representative( in the last 2-3 years) call and ask if i was happy with the service. Now after almost 10 years of being with Vodafone i am very disappointed and disheartened that i will be cancelling my contract with them when it expires.

I've always been with vodafone, never with another provider. Can someone from Vodafone explain how their coverage has become worse. I've read some of the comments here and can relate to all with dropped calls, bad or nil coverage, delay on voice & txt messages. I cannot understand how they have become so bad. I have had to travel on some of our major coastal hwys a few times recently and basically only pick up reception here or there, usually only a major town & never much out on the hwy making me uncontactable much of the time. About 8 months to go on my contract so I will be changing, probably to telstra (can't believe that), their service is terrible but at least their network is very sound.
