26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

20147 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Big fail at 1 Dec 2011 08:39:52 AM
attended the Queenscliff Music Festival on the weekend, which is just 100 km from Melbourne (30 km from Geelong) with a significant residential population. Either one bar or nil coverage (mostly no coverage) which was hugely frustrating. How can Vodafone claim 94% coverage of the Australian population when they don't work in populated areas like this, and most of far North Qld outside of cairns an a couple of other cities?

Vodafail network totally out on my mobile phone for the last 7 hours ... essential business calls all missed .. my overseas clients alerted me via email (non phone) that they could not contact me..I dialed my number from another phone and it was diverting to message bank. When I rang out from my Vodafail all I got was a submarine beep beeep ,then nothing...

This non service has caused me so many problems on the internet connection over the last 3 years and I changed to Telstra...now the bloody phone network is stuffed... how much can a Koala Bear .. time to take this up with legal action..enough is enough. BTW, I am talking about North Sydney and the Sydney CBD reception here.

WTF!!!

20125 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Unparalleled at 29 Nov 2011 03:17:03 AM
My mobile internet is practically useless, my mobile reception at home is getting worse, often zero coverage.
I recently purchased an android handset but in order to use android market I need to sign into a google account first. Every single attempt fails and it tells me my "sim is not provisioned for data services", Vodafail says it has nothing to do with them or their service and I need to contact the manufacturer. I've paid alot of money for an android handset that only makes/recieves calls/txt/pxt and nothing else.
They don't care at all and their "technical" advice is patronising. "Have you tried a soft reset?"
And how is it that I cannot walk back into the store where I purchaed this peice of crap and get some assistance?

20123 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Poor at 28 Nov 2011 05:09:25 PM
I migrated from Three to Vodafone to receive better service, particularly in Albany WA without roaming when using Internet on my mobile phone.
Since changing to Vodafone, 2 out of every 3 calls at home don't connect properly (I can hear but others can't hear me) or disconnect during the call.
Vodafone now tell me my area is due for upgrade in February 2012, but this was not mentioned when I was talking to them about migrating, and their coverage checker indicated very good coverage only area.
They listen politely and make all sorts of suggestions as to what can be done but the result so far is that I still lose 2 out of 3 calls.
If not resolved soon I'm going to have to try and get out of this contract. Three gave me very few issues, even though it's apparently the same Company.
Cheers!

20119 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is can't deliver service or handset at 28 Nov 2011 02:04:23 PM
I was offered to up-grade to move from 3 network to Vodafone.
I ordered my phone 4s oct 2011 and also wifi modem,
waited 3 weeks and received nothing called back to cancel the service which they did because of the delay .
a week after that I received the two handset, I called Vodafone to send Per-paid post bag to send the Handset back, Vodafone advised me that the contract will be running and I'm getting charge for it if I don't send the hanDset back?
I waited 2 weeks to get the bags of Vodafone.
called Vodafone and 3 to cancel the contract they said cancellation fees over $400 or they get me sign to Galaxey Tablet and wifi for 12 month, I said its ok.
waited 3 weeks and didn't get any thing called Vodafone to cancel the order ,they aid they are very sorry they didn't know that they don't stock Galaxey tablet any more.
I ask them to get me out ?the said no we can but will sign you up for Ipad2 16g with WIFI modem I said again ok.
two weeks later didn't get any thing called them again.
Vodafone team( india and tasmania )answered saying we don't know what happen you didn't get the handset or sim card till now.
I asked them to cancel my service they said please give us last chance ,will send you to Hurstville Store to pick up the Ipad2 and sim, everything will be ready for you and please speak to staff member by the name of Mandy,
If we can't do that we happy to let you walk out of the remain of your contract without penalty??
I went to Vodafone shop , surprise the shop does not know any thing and there is no sales person by the name of Mandy .
called Vodafone from the store and I was on the phone with them for an hour then they said sorry we don't have iPad2 in stock and our supervisor in priority team did give you the wrong information sorry about that and we are going to cancel the order and contract from Vodafone point and get 3 to to wave the cancellation fee's for the remaining of your old contract with them.
I called 3 after 3 ours to make sure my contract was cancelled with both Vodafone and three ? surprise again the contract was not cancelled,
i spent 1 and half hour till i cancelled the contract with the supervisor telling me that they will charge me for the remaining of the contract cancellation fee's of $450.

20114 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is poor customer service at 27 Nov 2011 04:19:18 PM
Since day one I have have had been a horrible customer experience.
1. Them not changing from plan from a blackberry to an iPhone (when I gave instructions to)
2. despite being given the information upon ordering my new phone they didn't pass on my company name to the courier, therefore phone was not delivered
3. Roaming charges completely ridiculous even when I turned everything off . THey burn't me like that before.
5. Most recently and most frustratingly - I called them on Thursday 17 November to discuss a billing inquiry, and firstly there was a 40 minute wait to speak to someone, secondly when they did they said they couldn't look at my record and told me 'I' needed to call them back. Not good enough, why can't they call me when they know a customer want to speak to them. I asked them to call me back on the Friday at 10am (to date they've still not called.

Today 27th November some 9 days later I called them after no actionable response from their customer service, Facebook or twitter staff. They claim they called me yet um....er no voice mail from them, I only got a text message last week instructing me to call them.

For a communications company they really don't like picking up the phone to call a customer.

My partner was with 3, now been forced to come to vodafail and now even calling each other the reception is worse. It just staggers me how EVERYTHING they do is so wrong and they have no idea about customer loyalty, customer service or picking up the phone to make things right.

Epic Vodafail - I wish I could get out of this contract, its been nightmare since day one. Everything about vodafone does not work and definitely not for the customer. I want out - as soon as possible
28 Nov 2011 06:12:12 AM: With all the problems you've had, you should be able to get out of the contract without paying anything. Just tell Vodafone it's not good enough and if they don't let you out then go straight to the TIO. (details on the how to complain page).

Had no network coverage all weekend long at Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort. Friend with Telstra had full signal. I tried calling Vodafail when I returned and had signal. Was on hold too long. Sent an email advising of the issue. Got an automated response asking me to send another email if I actually have an issue. Seriously fail Vodafail!

20098 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Very vodafailed at 24 Nov 2011 10:04:25 PM
I was with 3, which was great, had mega 3g, lived fairly rural and have cracking signal, converted all family and friends etc to 3. Then voda flop took over, when my contract is up for renewal they firstly don't have a mega 3g phone for me, and they say I most likely won't be able to get reception at all where I live when I go on a new contract!

I thought the merge was supposed to make it a better service not kill it off. Thats 3 seperate phones in my household that will end up on telstra which makes me even more dissatisfied and then slowly no doubt the rest of my family and friends will all have to convert over.
Vodaphone you have failed your new customers! and shame on 3 for dumping us in it.

Why would I ever want to go back to Vodaphone if I end up going elsewhere and paying for it, and no the price won't make me change back, once I am gone I am gone for good, and lets face it my lifespan could have made a fairly good return over the years. Again shame on you.

20086 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very fail at 23 Nov 2011 02:15:13 PM
My mum was previously with 3 and went to allphones to renew her contract before it expired, and they convinced her to go with vodafone without checking area coverage. She got home to discover she had NO phone reception at home, and rang Vodafone this morning to cancel. After screwing around with settings for 10 minutes, waiting on hold for 5 more minutes, being hung up on and then them calling back at the same time I tried calling them again, I finally got put on to the same person I talked to previously and she put me on hold again and then put me through to the cancellation department. Cancelling the contract took about 10 minutes, then he said it would be easy to get the number on another carrier just go to a store and sign up. We mentioned we wanted to go back to 3 (otherwise known as a reverse migration) and he said just go to the store. I mentioned this at least three times and always got the same response. When I finally got to a 3/vodafone store they checked the call notes and apparently it was noted that they had offered to do a reverse migration and I had DECLINED, which was a lie. The reverse migration is now going to take 48 hours to complete, not including the three hours in total I wasted this morning driving to various places and talking on the phone and being kept on hold.

20078 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is fail fail at 22 Nov 2011 09:21:06 PM
After being with VF for a year or so we (partner and I)got sick of lack of reception in our NOR suburbs home. I complained to VF saying I wanted to end the contract for that reason and to my massive surprise they pretty much agreed to do that straight away. I then got a bill for termination which I called them about - they said once they received my phone back it would be credited. Fine. I then received a bill for around $50 - had no idea what that was for - after calling and speaking with every man and his dog in the call centre we figured out it was GST on the contract - yeah right - I told them I wouldnt pay it and they agreed to get rid of that debt too. So will just wait and see if another bill arrives. Anyway, point is, crap network and they try to rip you off at every point but its worth trying to get out of a contract especially if you dont have coverage.

20073 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is worse since upgrade at 22 Nov 2011 01:33:41 PM
Vodafone has sent us messages saying the upgrades to our area are completed. It is now much much worse in Yanchep. We get reception 10-20% of the time (used to get reception most of the time) and have to resend messages many times before they actually send. Everyone in the area seems to be saying the same about vodafone and a few have already signed up with telstra.
What a shame vodafone doesn't have a site like this. They never seem to have any problems in the area noted on their site and say to phone them if your phone isn't working - how?
22 Nov 2011 07:53:56 PM: If you want to switch then let Vodafone know you are still having problems and tell them you want to get out of your contract without paying. Since they aren't delivering the service you signed up for they should let you go, if they don't then it's time for the TIO. Details on the 'how to complain' page.

20071 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is EPIC FAIL at 22 Nov 2011 11:02:25 AM
Just rang LARA to complain about appaling connectivity and extremely poor reception, only to be transferred to an operator and then while explaining why I wanted to opt out of my contract without paying the rest of the fee - the call dropped out! So I can't even complain properly. Thanks Vodafone for providing abysmal service when I need customer care.

20070 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is very at 22 Nov 2011 09:28:23 AM
I originally signed what the sales clerk told me was a six month mobile internet contract with vodafone (let it be a lesson, read ur contracts.. .. all of it!)It turned out of course to be a 12 month. Due to no, or very little reception and complaints to Vodafone and the ombudsman re both reception and billing, the service was cancelled, except that vodafone still felt that they could bill me for a service i am not under contract for, don't use, and has been officially cancelled. So i went to my local vodafone outlet( i prefer them to wait on hold rather than using my own credtit) where the kind sales staff showed me on their system that my contract was cancelled and that i was no longer a customer. They did some messing around before ensuring me that the bills would stop. Since then i have recieved 2 Bills from vodafone for a service that does not work, is out of contract, has been cancelled 3 times, is recorded on vodafone's own system as "Account terminated" and has an ombudsman report filed against it.
22 Nov 2011 09:58:26 AM: that is our excellent service plans working as we know u will b coming back 2 us
22 Nov 2011 04:21:56 PM: To the OP, I suggest you return to the TIO with your original reference number and tell the TIO what you have told us.

I also had bills arriving way after my contact was terminated, the TIO resolved the problem.

20063 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Terrible at 22 Nov 2011 07:29:35 AM
I run my own business - use my iphone as a "hot spot" for my ipad to demonstrate our internet site to customers. Since changing from 3 last week, the connectivity is terrible. I live in Turramurra, reception drops in and out (unacceptable). I took a phone call from a CEO (potential customer) whilst out at the St Ives shopping centre - that call too kept dropping out. I try to access my web site using the "hot spot" in the CBD - it is slower that a tortoise.... I had none of these issues with 3 at all. I have lodged a complaint with Vodaphone and will provide an update back to all if they choose to respond. I note that my wife and 2 kids also have contracts with vodaphone. What happens if they cannot get in touch when in need ... In this day and age, the lack of connectivity is a joke. If the government cal roll out the NBN network, surely a listed company can get the basics of its service right .... or am I just being hopeful ? Update tomorrow - lets see how long they take to respond.

20058 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Pathetic at 21 Nov 2011 12:44:10 PM
For the past 2-3 years Vodafone has dropped the ball when it comes to coverage. It seems nearly everyone on Vodafone is having problems. I live in an area which - according to Vodafone - should have full coverage. I cannot make or receive one call without it dropping out. The problem is not only local to my suburb. If I am connected on speakerphone and driving, at least every second phone call is dropped. A few months ago I called and made a complaint and I was told that it was due to me having old SIM cards. Well, 2 new phones later, both with the newest Vodafone sims installed and the problem remains. This is driving me crazy!!!

20055 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Totally epic fail at 21 Nov 2011 07:25:12 AM
I just looked at my calendar and it is still 2011!! After the totally rubbish reception and connection I have been recieving since joining Vodaphone a month ago I thought I may have been teleported back about 5 years...but no it's still 2011. WTF?? How is this able to happen? Other Vodaphone users I know have been like 'oh yeah that's just Vodaphone - message delays, pictures taking two days to arrive, terrible reception even when u are in the CBD...that's just what they are like'. Hmmm something is very wrong with this picture! They are ripping off their consumers with sub-standard service delivery. This should not be allowed! It is outrageous that we are expected to pay for this service. What can I do?
21 Nov 2011 11:16:43 AM: well sunshine u found this website & if u had done your research u would know that for the last 2 or more years people have been complaining about this company. All I can say is enjoy your 2 yrs of hell.
21 Nov 2011 03:43:04 PM: Contrary to the reply above, if you have complained to VF about the lack or reception and attempted to undertake their trouble shooting exercises, you can go to the TIO, details found at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab.

VF then have 10 working days to respond to your complaint.

You will have to provide some evidence that calls drop out, for instance, time of call, number dialled, duration of call etc. I think VF like to have 3 separate instances prior to their network team investigating.

As mentioned in the first sentence if you have complained already to VF and nothing has occurred to improve the service ------> straight to the TIO.

20046 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Mess up at 20 Nov 2011 10:20:21 AM
I am using iphone4 but the issue is the way they charge is incorrect and wrong information. I am on $69 cap plan and get $700 credit each month to used(Got 2GB for data allowance but never used it cause voda very slow connection). I register consume(iphone apps for credit allowance and limit) and always check/send sms to 1512 for credit left in that month.
According to that month, I only used $650 credit which I still have another $50 to spend and when the bill comes it said that I over used. So I need to pay $69(for my cap) plus extra around $20.....Based on my bill that $650 is not including GST....But everytime I send sms to 1512 to get my credit limit notifications left and it said I still have another $50 left.
It happens with me twice and I try to use the credit and stop making calls/sms/mms 5 days in advance so vodafail system will get an update for my credit limit. And even last day update before my billing cycle, I still has $50 credit allowance left.

In this case why vodafone gives or sends wrong information about my credit limit and not updating on their network?? so they can rip off customer money.

What a loser?? and it happens twice, contact customer service and they only said change provider or go to TIO(They don't want to solve or assist anymore)... and advise me to use only $550 instead of $700 credit allowance.

So whats the point I pay $69 and only get $550 ?????WTF...so dissapointed as more than 2 years with vodafone.......

20037 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Ending a contract nightmare! at 18 Nov 2011 01:54:50 PM
Recently left Vodafone due to terrible coverage and then was charged a early termination fee after being told earlier in the year (via email) that I could terminate my contract at any time with no penalty.

I called to discuss this with Vodafone only to be given the run around and told that I would need to pay - After being placed on hold 100 times and my continuing to object to paying the fee when I had emails saying otherwise, I was transfered to a supervisor who told me that he would personally call me back in 3 days - Highly excessive time if you ask me!! Espcially when I receive a TXT saying "proceedings will commence if you dont pay your outstanding account".

I then call to lodge a complaint and to my surprise end up in the same call centre where I expressed my concerns to the lady about the consultant potentially being her supervisor or sitting next to her or being her best friend only to be transferred to her supervisor to make the complaint and guess who answers...one of the people I was wanting to make a complaint about!!!

Pathetic! In one hand happy to no longer be a cutstomer of theirs but in the other just want this overdue account cleared!
18 Nov 2011 04:26:21 PM: Really!, i was rescinded from my contract a few months ago. i communicated with them via email rather then phone also. You get nowhere with them on the phone. I am now worried that ill get a silly email demanding payments. But if you both reach a written understanding, doesnt that become a law abiding document? Pressing send on the email is the same as signing a piece of paper as thats their response. Dont pay a cent if you ask me!
18 Nov 2011 04:31:10 PM: Go direct to the TIO with this one, don't hang about. You have tried hard to resolve the issue and clearly have had no success.

TIO contact details at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab, takes less than 10 minutes to complete their on line form.

Good luck!

20029 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Makes my blood boil - vodafone is criminal at 17 Nov 2011 03:13:42 PM
I have been a Vodafone customer for about 4 years. In that time, I have been consistently faced with the most incrediblly incompetent and infuriating service I have ever experienced in my life. Dealing with dropped calls, no coverage, bungled payments is mind bogglingly infuriating but pales in comparison to going through the process of speaking to a Vodafone consultant in India, which takes an hour each time when you actually get through, and they have no record of previous agreements reached for the account on earlier extended calls. Just today, I had my phone cut off out of NOWHERE after calling vodafone on Monday to get a payment extension until Friday, which was granted. I actually paid my bill onWednesday - but SURPRISE, my phone is blocked by Thursday morning. Vodafone is a joke and a failure! I am a peaceful and relaxed person most of the time. My home was recently unfortunately burgled and we lost most of our valuable items. The next day, the police were trying to call me ALL DAY - they called me 10 TIMES - and although I had full service on my mobile, none of the calls came through. I know this is something to do with vodafone Because other people tell me the same thing REGULARLY. With 100 percent honesty, I can say my anger and frustration at being burgled was only a fraction of the sheer frustration I went through going through a run of the mill conversation with a vodafone employee the next day who (surprise!) had no record of a $100 credit being applied to my account a month earlier after I complained about the issues with coverage and being overcharged. Thanks for wasting another few hours of my life Vodafone, for NOTHING. I honestly don't have anything in my life that makes my blood boil like this. Vodafone is a DISGRACE and an embarrassment to our nation. They have lost yet another longstanding customer that would have stayed if they didn't so consistently royally screw things up for $200 per month. EXTORTION.
18 Nov 2011 04:36:48 PM: The lesson here for everyone is to make sure you get the CSR's full name, his VF id, the incident number of the call (yes they do have them), record the date and time and what was said.

Using these few simple steps does focus their mind set and when I have used this method the CSR's are slightly taken aback but they are then aware you also have a VF record of the call..............unless they cut you off before giving the required information.........yes that has happened to me as well..........

Vodafone wants to charge me $900 because my new iphone 4s has uploaded 3.5GB via 3G network. No one can tell me what has been uploaded and or where Im uploading data to. I'm currently waiting for the TIO to contact me. My service has been suspended and my case wont be investigate until the next billing cycle which is in the first week of December. Worst customer service ever!
18 Nov 2011 08:04:48 AM: I have had EXACTLY the same thing happen yesterday and today. They cannot suspend your service unless you've not paid a bill, and they can't bar calls if you're disputing via the TIO - I haven't even gotten the bill for this extortionate amount, and am already speaking with TIO and they've barred me. Have been waiting an hour and 26 mins to get through

20008 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is no reception, consistently recalls, now triple the price at 15 Nov 2011 08:35:53 PM
so for way too long now I have accepted , VODAFAILS lack of service, the constant recalling of phone calls that cut out, the scary sounds of an aliens or someone under water tapping into my phone calls, .. or simple people telling me that they cant hear what i am saying so they will just text... BUT now this month they have decided that this recalling and texting has come at a charge, MORE then triple my monthly allowance..

TO top it off, when i call to complain, they ask if i can call them back in 4 hours time due to them unable to access my bill due to system maintenance... 4hours later i get a call (10.00pm at night) to be told i've gone over my allowance and that i have to pay the bill... then a sorry ma-em.. i cant hear you.. i cant hear you... phone cuts out.. i am sitting at my table. my phone still stating i have 3 bars of reception.. i go no where.. the phone rings again.. hello ma-em are you there?...... i explain i have not moved, my bars of reception have not change, and he has CLEARLY illustrated my frustrations of vodafail and of people cutting out on me.. and me usually the one to recall.. still no sympathy or assistance. HE then states i have gone over my bill and i must pay.. but he will get the maintenance team which have shut for the evening to call me tomorrow.. (despite having a new iphone which i got off vodafone, thinking my last last nokia must of had issues for people cutting out on me.

My temper now boiling, He ends with have a nice DAY.. (10.15pm) grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr no sleep tonight!

20007 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is EPICALLY at 15 Nov 2011 08:16:35 PM
I had to migrate from 3 to Vodafone due to coverage issues. I received my first bill from them which was 2 bills in 1, as apparently I have to pay in advance for a service I have not yet used, this was not advised when I agreed to the migration. A week after my due date of my first bill I had my service cut even though I did try to call them to arrange a 3 day extension but their billing system was down for 24 hours and this morning they did a system upgrade. By the time I got to speak to someone my service had been cut, they did not care and said it was fine to pay the bill but would not restore my service or lack there of. I tried to call them later tonight after nearly an hour on hold, I was told that this was policy, I asked to ask to speak to a manager and I was quite polite and the representative kept muting me and then disconnected my call. I called back again, again a long hold time, asked to speak to a manager, advised I wasn't happy with the service and the representative hung up on me again. I am now going to take this further so my experience is a MASSIVE FAIL :-(
7 Dec 2011 04:30:28 PM: you know what? even if you ask for a manager, there's nothing they can do about it... A Manager is not a biller or tech support mate... That's why companies hire tech support or customer service agents... They are trained to speak to you... Not the manager...

Getting worse in Yanchep. I send messages and they register in my sent messages folder but no one gets them. Have a picture of a tower now - but no bars. Can't call out. Two calls to me in the last 2 days have made it through but dropped out.
Vodafone website reports no outages in WA, but some vague network upgrade stuff...HOW LONG IS THINS GOING TO KEEP GOING ON FOR? THEY SEEM TO BE DOWNGRADING MY NETWORK.....I HOPE NONE OF MY CHILDREN HAVE ANY EMERGENCIES!!! As for receiving any calls from prospective employers....

I've been a Vodafone customer for over 2 years now and I have never had any issues with my handset or service. Anyone at Vodafone I have spoken to I have had fantastic service and as much as everyone hates Vodafone, the other company's have the same sort of issues or they charge unbelievably ridiculous amounts of money for something you don't need to pay for just because they have the coverage. The amount f times I've been to places where people complain about I've always had coverage. People complain an complain because people are never satisfied about what they get. People expect to get perfection an you are obviously never going to get perfection with anyone. I believ that everyone has there right to an opinion but at the end of the day, 15 years ago nobody even had any of this as much as they do now. People should start respecting people. It's fucking ridiculous how much people complain. It's a handset running on over air connection, there is bound to be drop outs and they're over 2 million people using the Vodafone network... So if the sites are overloaded at sometimes and your handset drops out for more that 5 seconds, then I really don't believe that that's the end of the world.
15 Nov 2011 07:33:58 AM: so 1 cust is happy what about the 5 mill who have to deal with the drop out pain. the othe thing you said that is correct is the other charge too much & if vf goes we will pay more.

19994 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic Fail at 14 Nov 2011 07:02:13 PM
Real problems with network the last five or six days.

Constant call failures when trying to ring out (This is in the Sydney CBD). I'm not receiving text messages till hours later (or in fact a full day!) and I can't access voice mail at all because it just keeps hanging up on me (saying 'call failed') visual voice mail not working either.

I went into Vodafail shop today and they said "Call the call center. We don't know what's wrong... " went to another shop just to try my luck with someone else who didn't seem so preoccupied with their own iphone behind the counter and when I explained what had been happening she looked at me, didn't say anything but "here, take this" and handed me the shop phone which was apparantley calling the call center in whatever land and went to deal with someone else!

(I'm tossing up whether or not the shop assistants service is worse than the connection problems?)

19988 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is selling dodgy Legends at 14 Nov 2011 03:06:51 PM
I purchased a HTC Legend for my wife last year thinking she would have fun with android, social media etc. Since then she has no end of strife with the phone constantly dropping out. We originally put that down to the vodafone network issues. After the phone was updated with Froyo (android) it became unusable so I asked my wife to drop it in for a repair. The store then asked her to collect the phone a week later. She rushed there thinking the phone was fixed only to be told that it had water damage and therefore any warranty was void. She advised the store asistant that it had never been in contact with water. He said it could have been caused by bathroom condensation or other moisture found in our home.
This has made me feel quite frustrated with vodafone. I have read elsewhere on vodafail that this type of water damage i.e. incurred during normal use is a scam used by vodafone to get out of dealing with faulty handsets. Has anyone else experienced this issue or got comment on vodafone using these tactics? Our next step will be to make a complaint to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman as it is just not right/fair/just that we should be left with a dud handset that hasn't been anywhere near water.
14 Nov 2011 10:28:54 PM: A store staff member does not fix your phone. They simply hand you the phone back and have to tell you the bad news. It's not the sales assistants fault that the repair centre has come back with that issue. You can get proof of water damage from the repair centre. Don't take it out on the staff member in store. It's there job to tell you what's happens, but they never diagnosed that your phone has water damage. Have a little respect. Things are frustrating but there is nothing a sales consultant can do in that situation.
15 Nov 2011 08:22:53 AM: Can you read? I was not blaming the sales assistant.
16 Nov 2011 07:19:41 PM: geeze what's with vodafone supporters on this site. Your networks sucks!!! "Selling dodgy Legends" was merely discussing his experience.... he never even complained about the sales assistants.. sounds like the response of a vodafail employee???? maybe you should get of the net and serve some customers, rather than being so defensive about someones legitimate statement

I live in Williamstown, VIC and have been using Vodafone's mobile broadband for the last year with no major problems. But in the last few weeks the connection has dropped down to dial up speeds. I've rung repeatedly, done every check there is. The pocket wifi modem is working fine in other places, but now for some inexplicable reason not in my house. I am nearly out of contract and will have to try another carrier. No one can offer an explanation why reception in my house has suddenly changed. Just an inconsistent and unreliable service.

19970 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Poor service and coverage at 11 Nov 2011 07:18:48 PM
I migrated from 3 to Vodaphone in August and from the beginning things were not going well. First they told me that they would send me the new wi-fi modem in short time, after 5 weeks waiting I had to go personally to a shop to have this problem fixed and they didn't want to acknowledge the deal I've had because they said it was only an online deal. Once I had the modem the broadband speed was very slow and when I called customer service they told me to fix something with my network which I did but didn't help very much. Finally, after several time I ran out of patience and filed a complaint with the TIO and let Vodaphone know about it. Vodaphone told me that the area I live in has good coverage and they changed the modem and the sim card. Also because of my complaint with the TIO they said they will give me 3 months for free of internet service and a brand new "supermodem" which will fix my problem for good. This happened today. I told them that if there is no solution I would switch to other company and file another complaint with TIO,lets see how it goes.
13 Nov 2011 08:01:24 PM: Goodluck, hope it goes well, otherwise the TIO is the way to go.

Transferred from 3 network to Vodafone on the promise of the Iphone4. Now 3 isn't the greatest network going but I thought it was okay. You would think that Vodafone being in the same stable as 3 would have similar coverage.
We holiday near Yarrawonga on the Vic/NSW border and once you get about 10 km out of Yarrawonga there is no Vodafone coverage.
Well, you might say. That is not unusual, you are in the rural areas, coverage is not as good. The strange thing is my daughter is still with 3 and gets perfect coverage where Vodafone doesn't. Both of us have the same phone also.
How is this possible when they are supposedly the same company and network now?

19957 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is epic fail historical fail fail of the century at 10 Nov 2011 11:30:54 PM
Made the mistake of switching over from three mobile to vodafone, and have just seen the mobile coverage on vodafone is worse than 3mobile indoors in cabramatta sydney. The3G indicator shows only one bar most of the time indoors and at the best of times it shows three bars but they dont last for very long. At times i get the annoying SOS calls only indication when the phone is indoors this reduces the whole 3g experience to a pathetic joke. When i was on 3mobile the indoor coverage in 3g mode was streets ahead of vodafone. the upgrade staff at the call centre said the new iphone 4s would be better since it would make use of vodafones new hspa network which meant improved coverage indoors.
Currently when im indoors at home i run the iphone 3gs in 2g mode with 3g mode disabled to prevent the phone from going into SOS calls only mode.
Is it possible to revert back to 3mobile?? im on a rolling monthly $50 cap at the moment.
Moral of the story if you are a longterm customer with 3mobile like me then please dont the foolish mistake which i made of switching over to vodafone.

Have had connection proes since day 1 of changing to vodafail back in Aug '10. I live in the St George area in metropolitan Sydney yet have next to NO service at home. If I make/take a call I have to use handsfree & leave my phone static on a table to maintain reception throughout. And 100%, that's right 100% of my calls that last longer than 5mins dropout! And tonight - no service whatsoever - been trying to call interstate family for the past 3hrs and nada, zippo, zilch - nothing!! So over it! And I have 9 months to go on my contract!
8 Nov 2011 08:59:30 PM: You can get out of your contract early and without a penalty if Vodafone isn't providing the service that you signed up for. File a complaint by following the steps on the 'how to complain' page. You might have to end up going through the TIO but complain first to vodafone. Alternatively you can wade it out although that can be painful. Goodluck!

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
9 Nov 2011 08:33:05 AM: Hey there, this advice is perfect for you, after talking with the TIO the service absolutely must be available at the home address you have provided to the company, if not it is a breach of contract and you can cancel without incurring fees.

19924 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is unable to activate a SIM card at 8 Nov 2011 05:31:32 PM
I was on the verge of leaving the Vodafail network, when my 24 month contract finally expired. However I was lured back to the dark side by one of their "retention" officers who desperately offered a "loyalty" bonus to stay with the network in return for an upgraded phone and plan. Reluctantly, I accepted, as the task of switching networks, with all its hassle was too much to bear.
So after paying the $10 delivery fee, I waited and waited for my new iPhone to arrive. .. and 14 days later it finally did! Granted, they are a bit overwhelmed with iphone 4S issues at the moment...
Next step activating my SIM- I activated it Sunday, and was warned it would take 24 hours.
I called the helpdesk on Monday night, and was told it would be activated by midnight.
I called again Tuesday morning to be told I needed to reactivate it again - by this time I had bought a hard case and the Sim was not accessable! After struggling to remove the hardcase of my new phone, I reactivated the SIM for a SECOND time, and wait once again for Vodafail to provide service...

I wonder as it only works 30% of the time Vodafone would be willing to accept 30% of the bill I am charged?
8 Nov 2011 12:52:00 PM: Call them up with that offer and see what they say. If you are not getting what you signed up for and paid for then you have a legitimate complaint. Follow the steps on the how to complain page and don't hesitate to contact the TIO if Vodafone isn't helpful.

In August that goal was revised and the new date was October 2011. It's November now and there's still no changes, no improvement [my benchmark is the Ellenbrook Shops, in front of the SC the coverage is as bad as in my house].

19870 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is No 3g internet reception at 5 Nov 2011 07:29:04 AM
I am in Rosebery (NSW). I have not been able to access the internet on my phone for two days. I have tried to call 1555 (their Customer Support number) but after the prompts, the call is disconnected. I'm assuming it is because they are being flooded with calls and have either discconnected the number or can not cope with the amount of enquiries. Not happy.

Another thing to share - I called them last week (end of October 2011) and asked them when my contract expired. They claimed that they couldn't tell me! LOL. My guess is they know people are wanting to leave the network, so they are have instructed their staff not to provide that information. I went into a store the next day and was told it expires in March 2011, so I'm counting down until I move to Telstra.
5 Nov 2011 01:25:19 PM: Did you mean to say March 2012?

If so not long now, if not then off you go!

Vodafail.com Moderation Team
5 Nov 2011 08:50:49 PM: Yes I meant March 2012. My mistake. I probably made the error in wishful thinking!
6 Nov 2011 05:45:32 AM: Ahhhh......I thought it was, a wishful thinking typo!

Word of caution, you may think the contract is over in March but it is a rolling contract. Around January you may have an offer in the post of something like the last or first 3 months of the old/new contract free, or perhaps a new phone, but you have to contact VF cancellations team with the pain of 1555 to cancel the contract.

You will be offered further incentives to keep you to stay and the promise of jam tomorrow regarding their network capabilities.

Refuse, politely, advise VF you wish to cancel, make sure you record the name and CSR id, date and time of call and most importantly cancellation of any direct debits with VF. Ask for the cancellation confirmation via e mail (they will refuse that one!) or text, something to record the cancellation has happened.

Some customers (me included) have found they have been receiving direct debits from VF for months after the cancellation, eventually I had to use the TIO to get them to stop and refund the monies taken.

Good luck with your new provider next March!

No data coverage in the Sydney CBD again, thanks vodafail. I wonder how much data I'd use each billing cycle if you didn't only load 50% of a site before falling over. The amount of times I have to refresh must mean I cumulatively use more data than I would if your network wasn't pathetic.

We switched to Vodafone and were assured of good coverage in all areas of Perth and surrounds. This simply is not true. Several suburbs have no coverage: for business this is a disaster. As a result of the misinformation I have had to spend an additional $110.00 per month to get additional services elsewhere. So it wasn't a saving at all. I won't talk about the call centres or attempts to fix it. Take it from one who has tried them for two years.. the promises are generally just empty words.

I send an enquiry through their website about my new service with Vodafone. Its really frustrating to have this kind of automatic response in RED COLOUR. They really have problem on their network that's why I complain. I was expecting they would be apologetic for that and not being rude with their RED writing. Its a disgusting level of customer service.

Vodafone response:
"
In order for us to respond to your enquiry as soon as possible, this is an auto generated email response based on key words you have provided in your email.
We hope this resolves your enquiry to your satisfaction however, if not, then please continue to submit your question and reply to the email that will appear in your inbox.

We have had 7 Vodafail services in PWA in out family. Of the 7 services two have had to churn to Telstra due to moving to the country = no Vodafail coverage generally, my wife works in Lesmurdie = no Vodafail coverage, 1 child lives in Roleystone = no Vodafail coverage, one works in Caversham = no Vodafail coverage, one lives in Maylands pennisular = no Vodafail coverage, mine is the only service that works reasonably. Think this is a pretty poor show of a network performance, needless to say both Optus & Telstra both have 5 bars coverage in all these areas

Vodafail the sooner you fall the better Australia will be. You've no consideration for the Australian consumer. You charge for service you can't provide and you don't compensate. The sooner the industry ombudsman needs to step in & remove your licence until you can deliver what you advertise. You say your network has been upgraded but your resolution team says otherwise....bit like your customer service hotline....transfer to many departments hoping we give up....you totally under estimate the Australian consumer

19839 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is NO improvement to the end at 30 Oct 2011 12:11:57 PM
I am in Chatswood. I use iPhone 3GS. I've just finished my 2 long and painful year contract with Vodafone. Switched to Telstra prepaid. Telstra is unbelievably reliable. 3G download speed at least 3 times faster. Less battery consumption. With Vodafone I had to turn off 3G and use Edge to stay connected online to the end of my contract. I did not feel or see Vodafone network improve as they claim on all sorts of media.
2 Nov 2011 03:45:21 PM: enjoy the diff i just had a fool ask me if i would like a new 4gs. said no & he tried to sell me something still said no i have a few months to go need to work out what i would like. the call dropped out (normal) i just hope a new phone isnt on my door step in the next few days. sorry this is vf they cant get anything right should be safe.

After 5 months of faulty handset, no signal, call drop out, not receiving calls and payments not being recongized I finally got vodafone to let me out of my contract . This was after they did a network coverage test on an area I did not live in. Being let out of the contract is only the start of the issue as they insist I return the handset, which is fine but they will only accept it in a post bag they are meant to be sending to me, I have been waiting 8 weeks and have made 2 follow up calls to find out where this bag is and eventually got them to agree to me taking the phone into a store, which I tried to do today only to discover the store had no idea I was coming and won't help me, after I refused to leave the store without the issue being resolved they took my phone and would not provide me with anything in writing the store hopes to receive the post bag by the 11tg of November (making it 9 months that this has dragged out) the store call security on me and had me removed for insisting I get something in writing
29 Oct 2011 11:41:09 PM: In regards to their customer service, I personally helped a customer in their store as I couldn't sit and watch as they ripped off some little old lady, if you're still with vodafail and don't want to spend all you're credit on retrieving voice mail dail1219 and your voice mail will call you for free

19830 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is Critical disruption of services at 29 Oct 2011 01:30:00 PM
I have been switched over from a 3 contract to a Vodafone contract on Wednesday this week and since I have not been able to access Internet via the mobile network. I have send over 10 hours on the phone on Thursday and Friday and there is currently an escalation case raised to their Network Team.

My problem appears not to be singular. I have found forum discussions from back in March 2011 where people have been complaining about same issues I am having. This is the reference link I have found: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1662488 .

If there is some class action against this situation I would like to join the effort.

I can be contacted on <<PERSONAL EMAIL REMOVED>>

29 Oct 2011 04:12:44 PM: I have moderated your post and removed your personal email address.

The class action details may be found at the top of the page under the How To Complain tab.

There is additional information present about escalating your issue to the TIO.

19823 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Phone coverage shocking! at 28 Oct 2011 09:38:50 AM
I live in Williamstown, Victoria very close to Melbourne city and am constantly getting horrific coverage. Especially in my house. So sick of hearing they are doing all these upgrades. I have yet to see an improvement. Its not like I live in the middle of nowhere! Even when I am in the city I often have terrible coverage. I feel very sorry for Australians. This sort of service provision would not be accpetable in the UK where I was before. Complaints and bad press seems to do nothing here to change things. My contract is up in March and unfortunatly, even the other providers aren't fantastic. From one crappy choice to the next slightly better but still not good enough... And you call this the lucky country?
28 Oct 2011 11:06:58 PM: Yea it is pretty bad, there was a huge media storm earlier in the year that got Vodafone's attention. Since then they've announced a lot of plans and network upgrades but there are still lots of issues. If you can get reception then you still have to worry about problems with the Vodafone billing system.

In most cases the best bet for a complaint is with the TIO - at least you'll be able to get what you want when you go through them.

19821 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is MAJOR FAIL! at 28 Oct 2011 08:04:06 AM
Network: Signed up several months ago on a 65+5 for the Desire HD on infinate... wow.. a typical CBD phonecall takes at least 3-4 attempts to even connect. Tried several phones, and it appears as though my only option is to stick purely to GSM if I actually want to make and receive calls.
Billing: Got my first email bill no problems.. payed it via bpay... no problems.. set up an automatic payment via internet banking... 2 months pass, 3, 4... then my phone dies! So i call... guess what!? Voda has been accepting automatoc payment every month into the wrong account (i.e changed my bpay reference number after first bill, has populated via vodafone account with 9 year old '3' data from an old contract i was on), and of course, has been sending all email and other correspondance to another address.. BUT keeping the money, and DISCONNECTING ME for non payment. So, to restore my service and avoid a bad credit note, I had to pay 390 odd dollars (including late payment fees) and chase the bPay payments which have left my account with my bank...Yay! Thank you vodafone! Thank you for the phone call after month 1 to let me know that there was a payment issue on my account (sarcasm)!
I am definately on an infinate plan... infinate rubbish! Time to go to the TIO... FAIL!
On a side note... ive been with 3 for years on another contract I use for work.. I just switched to telstra for the same network reasons as above.. 3 has degraded in network quality severely - particularly with internet speed and coverage... and I got TIRED of seeing 'E' and paying per MB for roaming that didnt even bloody work!

DO NOT SIGN UP WITH VODAFONE!!! VFH AU - Shame on you for sucking in so many unsuspecting customers (especially those who paid out existing contracts to join your pathetic network!)

I have been with 3 for years and very happy with the service. Recently I was invited to change over to Vodaphone and STUPIDLY I agreed. Since then I have had nothing but problems. No access in Queensland when staying with my girlfriend (a first) and now my picture messages are RANDOMLY not SENT or RECEIVED. This is causing major problems with my partner.
I want out of Vodaphone and back to 3 until they sort this out. I live 40kms from Melbourne CBD!!!!!!!! In an electronic age where they are promising such wonderful things on their upgraded network, it shouldn't be that hard!!!!!!!

19812 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very at 27 Oct 2011 10:44:38 AM
Switched over from 3 after being told my Internet reception might be better. Not will be better, but could be better, otherwise it would be the same. After the switch I got absolutely no Internet reception in my house even though 3 was blazingly fast. Call reception sounded like talking through a wall most of the time as well, so I switched to Virgin.

Just received a $466 early termination bill even though I was told that I would be put on a month to month contract. The billing service personnel just kept repeating the same thing over and over until I exploded. Then he decided to try and give me another number to call which I refused. I told him that the contract I am on has to match what I was told over the phone or it is illegal, and then I went and filed a complaint at the TIO website. So shall wait and see what happens.

As a by note my wife was on the same plan with 3 and ordered her Vodafone sim card but didn't actually activate it. She still had a few months to go on a 3 24 month contract, but the Vodafone salesperson said she is now on a month to month contract. Funnily enough she hasn't had any problems with the switch over to Virgin.

For how long the customer support will continue to feed with useless statements. It's been 3 weeks my broadband traffic is not exceeding 3KBps. 28 minutes of connection and 3MB of traffic.

I called the support. The only thing they keep saying is that the coverage is good in your area - it's 3G.
There are times I want to yell at them. It's just they have been trained with the same c**p.

It's like saying that you have a large pipe. What's in it to me if it is large or narrow. IT IS EMPTY!!!!

We are not stupid, Vodafone!!!
Simply install higher capacity antennas or allocate larger quota per tower.

Dear Vodafail, can you please convince this to them?
Thanks.
27 Oct 2011 01:16:18 PM: Earlier in the year we submitted the Vodafail Report to Vodafone detailing all the problems and since then they have responded by announcing upgrades to many of their towers and systems. The problems are still ongoing for many people and by posting here and on Vodafone's facebook/twitter pages, you are letting them know the problems still exist.
