26 Mar 2012 - Update Highest Rated Pain Stories Highest Rated Gain Stories Vodafail Local Facebook Page
Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

12908 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is they themselves is making the most of it at 18 Jan 2011 09:55:29 AM
The government need to step in and punish this organisation for their lies and for not telling the truth.

There also needs to be legislation on how organisation's complaint and resolution process are done.

This company appears to have no standards nor any form of proper procedures for complaints to be followed through, thoroughly investigated within a set time.

No one takes responsibility in this company. Instead they blame the customers whenever something goes wrong.

Their call centre staff are also brain dead. Part way through a conversation looking at your records, they 1. either hany up on you or 2. Vodafone network cuts you off and to their call centre, that is a call answered and customer problem resolved. They never call you back knowing full well they were cut off from you and knowing full well your problem is still not resolved. They expect you to call and jam their lines by waiting 2 hours and playing tic tac toe with Lara and then get a different call centre staff only to repeat your concerns again and then guess what? Right, they hang up on you again only to let this process repeats itself until you get exhausted and give up and then you are conned into paying something that you should not have to pay.

This is Vodafone's way of resolving customer's issues. Clearly there is already an emerging pattern on the way they do business. Make sure customers are totally exhausted trying to address their concerns, make sure customers do repetitive motions to try and anger them and tire them, most of all, make customers waste as much of their time as possible to discourage them to lodge any complaints.

sadly this sort of business behavior is also condoned by the government.

12900 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is pretty much the same as 3 Mobile at 18 Jan 2011 07:53:23 AM
I am an iphone user and recently switched from 3 to Vodafone after experiencing multiple difficulties with signal in the area that I live. With Vodafone I am finding that the 3G network is dropping out constantly, no service status intermittantly, and text messages not being received until 3 - 4 hours after they have been sent.
I would like to know what Vodafone are doing to resolve these issues?

I've actually used every mobile service provider and Vodafone is the worst!! As soon as I'm don't with my contract I'm out to never return! I've never had so much problems with reception and Internet connection! Including the wireless?! It doesn't make sense to me in this day an age for a mobile service provider not to be able to provide clear reception with no drop outs! What are we paying them for? Don't they want us to use out phone?! My fiance is in London at the moment and I rely on the internet connection! Vodafone need go step up their service or allow us to leave our contracts now!

Very bad reception since October 2010, alot of dropout calls and receiving messages 8 hours later. Not good enough. Have complained to Vodafone a few times, they obviously have a problem that cannot be fixed. I am not paying my Bill until I get the service that I am paying for.

12892 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is not doing anything constructive with their time at 18 Jan 2011 12:56:57 AM
This was meant to be a reply to #12888 Re: 18 Jan 2011 01:26:41am, but it is a major complaint on it's own as well. So I've posted it here. Note that Vodafone employees that work in store are just about the only Australian people we can complain to in order for them to pass the message to their Australian managers, who then pass the message to the company's Australian executives (depending on VHA's management hierarchy). It is then, we hope, that the Australian executives will help resolve the nationwide network problems by implementing checks and investing in an effective, undisruptive way to maintain the network towers. So VHA store employees, please use our initial feedback and give it to the manager, who will hopefully pass it on. Since we are still having problems, it seems that the company has organisational and management issues. VHA employees (ex or not), do not immediately complain against us about abuse, etc. You are hired to represent the company and have signed up knowing that you WILL (often or not) be dealing with angry customers and TOLERATE it, NOT personally but from the company's perspective; ie. AS A HUMAN RESOURCE ASSET OF THE COMPANY, I don't know how many times I have to emphasise this. Customer service, particularly in call centres dealing with customer issues, DOES actually require a good degree of tolerance with upset customers. Don't think you've signed up for the job thinking everyday will be sunny and sales. Think again. If you don't feel safe, then resign or join us on a battle against the company. Otherwise, you won't help us since there is little evidence of taking initiative to pass the feedback to the higher ups. Do something more constructive for once in your 'morning meetings' rather than just taking menial orders. But nothing happens, so both VHA employees and customers start this unending cycle of whinging and sulking. Thus, we keep coming back, more and more aggravated that nothing is resolved. 'It was the angry customer's fault, don't abuse us,' says the employee. 'It was Vodafone's fault, they aren't resolving my issue,' says the customer. Note that customers, in most cases, intend to point the blame and abuse to the company itself, but the employees mistaken it for themselves. Hopefully, this helps clarify the typical 'back and forth company vs employee vs customer argument' that follows a company's major issues. As for Nigel Dews' plainly obvious "IT'S ALL ABOUT KEEPING THE SHAREHOLDERS HAPPY" statement to VHA employees. WHAT THE FUCK. Is that all he cares about? His salary and making shareholders happy? We can tell by the ongoing fall of the company's reputation and the ill treatment of customer services, which means the ill treatment of VHA employees, something we all don't need but is inevitable at this point in time. Once again, the CEO needs to review the company's mission statements. Nuff said.
18 Jan 2011 05:03:57 AM: customer complaints are not received in their shops, all customer complaints and such all go through customer care, as pointed out by voda-fail themselves in the how to complain section, you call. If you go into a store to make a formal complaint you'll be only wasting time while waiting to be served only to be told you'll have to call up!

Don't bother going in there, they can't do anything!
18 Jan 2011 11:06:10 AM: Thanks for letting me know that Vodafone works differently to what I stated. I wish their store staff had power to help us. It would be greatly greatly greatly appreciated.
20 Jan 2011 09:27:21 PM: No point VF enabling their store staff to deal with the problems when VF's infrastructure is the problem. Had VF pre paid mobile broadband that once worked at Marayong in NSW and the service degrade to nonexistent. 4 hrs with the help desk, fiddled with settings, upgraded VF's PC software (took 2 hrs to download the upgrade via a manually configured connection)etc was all for nothing. It just died and they, VF, don't care.

12890 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Poor service and over charge at 17 Jan 2011 11:14:12 PM
I can honestly say I've had a mountain of Problems with Vodafone both with my mobile and with Internet over the 3 year period I've had contracts with them. There has been more then 1 period where there has been no reception to either my phone, or my Internet or both.

In the 3 periods of time I was out of reception it lasted no less then 24-48hrs. One period was recredited to my phone for the pay period but for the other two periods it was not covered. When I went down to the store to get some information staff refused to give answers and 1 day even shut up shop so they didn't have to answer questions.

When i started my Internet contract I was informed that Newcastle was getting 3G connections were beginning within 3 months of my connecting and that my connections would be better which was why I decided to join up with them. At no point in 2 years did I get a 3G connection it may have stated it was on one but it never went above 2 bars of connection, it never became faster. Any gust of wind I'd be disconnected and this could mean reconnecting every 5 minutes even on a day with good weather. When I attempted to end the contract upon its completion I was told the contract was closed and I had already paid it off so had no bills to pay. Upon leaving the country my parents rang to tell me they had 2 bills from Vodafone to pay for my internet that had been stopped 2 months previous, they were entitled to no more money but they kept sending papers to my parents and they worried about me getting a bad credit rating so just paid the bills even though it was an error and I had no unpaid bills.

With my phones I've had through vodafone I've had a few problems. With my first phone contracted from September 2007-2009 my Nokia N95 had problems from the moment I bought it. I had bought that specific phone for its GPS capabilities which never worked. I went into more then Vodafone shop multiple times to tell them that this component did not work, I was told by vodafone employees there was nothing wrong with my phone it was simply that I was impatient and not holding the phone near the satelites. When the phone was 11 months old it turned off at work one day and could not be returned on, again I went into a Vodafone shop and told a store employee of my problems and was told it was probably cause i had a flat battery, the phone was sent away to be checked. It was a software problem and amazingly the GPS component worked immediately when they'd fixed the other problems, the store still denied it was a fault in my phone when it was new.

Although I'd had problems with that phone the new phone I'd wanted was only available through Vodafone. When I signed up I arranged for insurance on the contract, about 12 months ago I received a letter from Vodafone telling me if I did not respond to them by increasing the amount of money I paid for my insurance then my insurance would cease. I opted not to increase the money I was paying as it was already a hefty bill each month. Amazingly I am still being charged $12.99 a month for insurance for a phone even though they no longer provide insurance for as stated in their letter.

As I have moved to the UK on a working holiday I went back to a vodafone store to cancel my phone contract as I was told on signing the contract that if you close a contract early you owe 50% of the remaining contract per month of each bill. When I went in to end the contract I was told this was not the case and changed their rules and said I owed 100% of the remaining bill. Since I am paying off a very expensive phone bill for a contract not in use it gets frustrating that the website is down regularly as this is the only way that I can pay off my bill and when they decide to have problems with it I end up getting a late bill through no fault of my own.

As soon as this contract has ended and when I come home I will not be signing up again. I now have a second phone that has died so am paying $112.99 a month for a contract not in use a phone that died and no insurance even though I have to keep paying for it cause it was in my original bill.
17 Jan 2011 11:33:21 PM: LOL @ GPS issues response: 'I was told by Vodafone employees that there was nothing wrong with my phone; it was simply that I was being impatient and "not holding the phone near the satellites". Looks like Vodafone wants us to travel beyond the Earth's ionosphere to get guaranteed reception from the polar orbit satellites.
18 Jan 2011 08:22:00 PM: In regards to the issues with the handset- these are not created by vodafone, all handsets are covered by the manafactures warranty, YES this means Nokia, Apple, HTC, Samsung etc if you have a fault with the handset send it back! Honestly people its not that hard! There are repair centers everywhere.
In Regards to insurance through vodafone, as per the terms and conditions you all should have read, the insurance is provided through Marsh Insurance, this is where your money goes, if you want to make a claim they are the people to speak to!!

I'm in Brisbane, fortunately not impacted by the flooding. However my family back in Spain have been panicking. They haven't been able to contact me as I have had no coverage - NOT simply due to the instance of the flooding.

90% of the time when I look at my phone my carrier is "Searching".

In the end I had to use a friends phone. My mother was so worried she was about to book tickets to come all the way to Australia to search for me.

Sounds like a vodafail to me.

12884 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Beyond Belief at 17 Jan 2011 08:14:31 PM
Due to not getting decent reception at my new house I decided to move from Optus to Vodafone (believe it or not, Vodafone has better reception). I had my contract with Optus revoked, and got a prepaid Vodafone sim card. My number was to be ported across Saturday, they said it may not go through until Monday (today) due to the weekend (fair enough). On Saturday night my friend tried to ring my number (which was SAVED into her phone) and a guy picked up. When she told me I rang my number from her phone, my phone did not ring - instead a guy picked up. It turns out Vodafone has allocated my number to another person as well. This has been going since Saturday night, no one has done anything despite going into my local Vodafone store 4 times/ringing them numerous times. No one will do anything!!!

12882 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Lied about coverage at 17 Jan 2011 07:59:38 PM
Howdy all.

I live in Bacchus Marsh, Victoria. A small town in the eastern suburbs. I recently was looking into getting a phone plan with vodaphone and so I checked their website for phone coverage to make sure, sure enough the website said FULL 3G reception 100%. So I thought cool, but because I of this website went to get a pre-paid simcard to just check it.

Guess what, NO coverage ANYWHERE in the street I live in, let alone the house.

I feel cheated out of 2$ and pissed that I was lied too and they advertising was an absolute lie. Something should be done about this.

That is all.
19 Jan 2011 07:18:09 PM: Bacchus Marsh is in the West and is not a suburb of Melb

I have been on vf for about 6 weeks. Since I first activated I have been unable to get reception in my house. If I force my phone to GSM i can get a few bars from one corner of my house. Almost every call I make or receive drops out and i can forget about data completely. The coverage maps show full 3G coverage. I wish i could invoice this mob for the time that I have spent in store and on hold trying to resolve this issue. I could pay their cancellation fee and they would still owe me money.

12879 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is lame at 17 Jan 2011 07:44:43 PM
hey i paid my plan bill using bpay and it is after nearly a week still showing as unpaid. I have been trying to contact them to get it sorted but have had no reply to emails and trying to ring them gets a computer. I have never had a problem with bpay before and the payment details are still on the bpay transaction and show correct ref number. Their server was down for a couple of days but I am used to this on their websight. I have sent another email to their complaints indicating my concern as i am a new customer and worried by media reports and their obvious unprofessionalism and have stated that if this is not addressed I will join the class action against them. I assume the only time they will contact me on this will be to recover the outstanding bill which I have already paid, this company would appear to be a bad joke and should spend less on the cricket and more on getting itself together and its network right. I only started this plan early december and already have grave concerns as much of the media reports came out just after this unfortunately.

12878 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is You Tell Me at 17 Jan 2011 07:37:48 PM
I am actually with Optus, using an iPhone like most people, and having all the same problems people are describing on this page. The Optus staff, whilst helpful, tell me the iPhone is the problem, not their network, and referenced this website as something for me to look at so I understand lots of people have similar issues with the iPhone. I also spoke to someone from Telstra telling me their iPhone gives them grief non-stop as well. Can someone wo doesn't work for Apple confirm this for me?? I've read a few of the posts and it seems lots of people are iPhone users, it also seems to me like the massive issues stated on this site all started coming about after the release of the new iPhone, with no great issues prior to that. I understand Telstra also has a 850Mhz network, which is why their iPhone users have more stability, whereas the iPhone is crap on other network bands, is there any kind of chance people can post whether they're iPhone users or not with their comments, so maybe we can get to the bottom of this, and so I can figure out who to vent my frutration at... Any chance someone wants to make an Optusfail.com???
17 Jan 2011 07:44:39 PM: iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS on the Telstra Next G network and it works flawlessly. Have friends with the iPhone 4 on the optus network and it works flawlessly. So either you have a faulty iPhone or you are actually using the vodafone network :/
17 Jan 2011 07:45:49 PM: i phones are nothing but trouble they belong on the bottom of the ocean they are the worst thing that apple brought out use it as a anchor or paper wieght
17 Jan 2011 07:48:19 PM: Bahahaha, funny iPhones and generally any smart phone fails on the Vodafone network. Yet they work great on other networks. Not sure what problem the original poster is having but check out the Optus and Telstra forums on Whirlpool, people are posting that their iPhones work great on their networks (just as all smart phones do).
17 Jan 2011 07:49:12 PM: The major problem is with the iPhones, 2 reasons
1- drop out contantly and are unable to switch between frequencies with any speed-however if you ask apple there is nothing wrong
2- I personally know of people who have contacted the tio simply because they got the iPhone 3GS last year on a 24 month contract and do not want to pay to get the iPhone 4 as they still have 1year left on 24month contract
18 Jan 2011 12:49:30 AM: I've had the 3GS and iPhone 4 with VF and nothing but problems and that same unlocked iPhone 4 works perfectly with Telstra.

Hi there, I have had a number of problems with vodafone including the reception drop outs, text messages/picture messages taking upto 7 days to come through, I have had vodafone activate call barring on my phone eventhough I had paid my bill in full & when I called them up & spoke to them I was told it would take up to 4 hours to remove the barr & when I explained that was not good enough that I had 2 young children I was told but the customer service representative that if I didnt like it to get a home phone. I have had them overcharge my bills & argue with me over the fact that I was being overcharged. I have times where my phone tells me I have full reception but I cannot make calls/get calls or send or recieve text messages & a new recent thing now is my phone is calling people just randomly by itself even when I am sleeping & I am getting charged for these calls.
18 Jan 2011 09:48:20 AM: Take the battery and sim out! There is a possibility your phone has been hacked.

Switched to Vodafone mid December (from Telstra) after checking the coverage maps etc because I frequently travel to Broome and Dunsborough. Dealer says no problem those areas. On boxing day went to Dunsborough for 2 weeks. Phone immediately not usable even though 5 bar signal. No calls could be made or received for 5 days from my home in central Dunsborough. I assumed that the phone was faulty or the system corrupt, never dreamt it was just the coverage. Emailed and called the dealer, no reply. Now back in Perth and working OK, but realise it is totally poor company to deal with.

12853 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is A VERY SICK PUPPY at 17 Jan 2011 04:57:50 PM
This is a follow on to my post #12532 earlier in the week & relates to a totally unsolicited deal that VF sent me with tempting extras to switch from 3 wireless Internet to them with no more to pay. Basically they looked at my nearly ending 3 account & sent me an offer too good to refuse, which turned out to be too good to be true!

I thought I had sorted my problems with VF when a nice young (sounding) Aussie "account executive" (What does that mean, somebody who applied for the low rate job & was accepted to make coffee & occasionally answer the phone?) agreed to cancel my 1 day old deal because it just totally did not work at all. The deal would be canceled when I returned the modem & software disc by way of a reply paid satchel, which would be sent to my address within 3 days.

No return satchel arrived to date but today, about a week later, I received a call from a nice Indian lady named Poonam & she tells me they want me to check the hardware again before they actually send me the return address satchel because I should give it one more try with their technical dept. My reply was that I am an IT expert & have thoroughly tested their hardware & software & I have determined that neither are the problem, VF just does not have the coverage & the signal is too weak for me to get any kind of acceptable Internet connectivity. This is on top of waiting hours in the LARA queues for days just to get the original guy to agree to cancel my deal.

Anyway, I know live in hope that Poonam can actually arrange for me to back their gear so I can be totally rid of anything to do with this maladjusted, malfunctioning company.

I'll keep you posted on the end result, in the meantime as it's late afternoon I'll have a couple of drinks to dull the PAIN!
17 Jan 2011 05:58:19 PM: Can you please have one for me as well.......thanks!!!!
17 Jan 2011 06:15:44 PM: Forgot to say that the lovely (voiced) Ms Poonam admitted that VF was overstretched on their network (an excuse that doesn't wash but they have been told to say this) due to the merger with 3 & also that was the reason we have to wait so long in queues listening to garbage lies about VF service & garbage music for hours on end. I politely pointed out that this was not the way Australians expected to be treated by a company when doing business & my dealing with her employers who solicited my business from their merger company when they full knew that they could not provide the alleged service amounted to fraud.

Not being racist but as pointed out by somebody else on here there is a massive cultural divide between Australian VF customers & the country & people chosen to answer calls for help when things do not go according to the stated services of this very un-Australian company. Australia Day coming up, maybe us VF customers should celebrate with curried lamb!

12849 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is ABSOLUTELY EXCELLENT IN ALL ASPECTS at 17 Jan 2011 04:10:01 PM
Hi, I'm just here to advise all our Vodafone customers who are upset with our fantastic products and services to stay with us. Please give us another chance, we are taking our time attempting to somewhat resolve the national UMTS network issues via adding more GSM towers. That will alleviate capacity, since Vodafone has an strong client base of about 4.5 million highly satisfied customers and counting. Our merge with 3 has boosted our client base even further to about 7.5 million+, proving that Vodafone Australia is clearly the best option for a provider. If you all are still not satisfied with your current network service, then you should gently contact our wonderful foreign call centre. 18 Jan 2011 10:10:31 AM: 'Excellent caring staff' What a joke, all they care about is protecting their own arses. Don't forget to vote using device near the main counter. My experience, first time bullied and threatened by 'manager', second time - someone who tried to help despite being hung up on 3 times by VF...ed 'Accounts' staff. Third time, didn't listen to my complaint despite restating it several times, could not understand I had a Virgin phone and a VF...ed mobile broadband and insisted on punching my mobile phone number into their system. Do I need to explain? Just utterly useless.
20 Jan 2011 06:38:41 PM: I knew it was fake because they were being polite.
21 Jan 2011 01:09:09 PM: I used to be a Vodafone staff member, I was always polite and used to get just as angry at the customer (non) care people as every one else. I left the job because my hands were tied by ridiculous policies. In the old days if your phone didn't work because it was faulty we just gave you a new one, none of this repair for months on end bullshit. If you dropped your phone in water that was it and there were options. If your service was shit you got released from your contract and when you wanted to upgrade there was an amazing team in Sydney and Hobart that we had DIRECT lines to and could upgrade from store stock on the spot.
There are very few of us old schollers left because the company , depite all their happy happy corporate meetings. DON"T CARE ABOUT THEIR STAFF. How are they in a position to give a shit about customers if they don't even give the staff the ability to help them.

Vodafail took 26 days for a human to reply to my email. 3 hours for a human to answer my phone call. I signed up to Twitter as it seemed to be the most effective way to get answers to simple questions. How absurd that I am forced to communicate in 140 characters with a company that owns a mobile network. When I finally spoke to a human and I asked about the security breach they told me it was a rumour spread by competing companies. Days later Vodafone fire staff over the breach. So exactly who is it that is spreading rumours about competitors? Vodafail management appear to be compulsive liars.

I'm another disgruntled customer putting up with almost no signal and slow data speeds. I'm in the process of leaving Vodafone, which we all should do, should we have these pathetic problems for weeks unfixed. The TIO will need to help us get out of Vodafone's illegal contracts. - @ Vodafail.com/mod: As suggestive feedback for extra useful statistics on Vodafail.com, I think there should be a rating bar of 0-100%, in a section known as 'Rate Your Pain', on this site so we can rate how angry or upset we are. That section should include check boxes for if we are still angry and if the problem remains unresolved. It should also include a dropdown box for choosing how long we have been having this pain (days, months, weeks, etc) and how long it took us to cancel our contracts, accounts, etc. A rudenessmeter may be necessary for us to rate how rude Vodafone has been depending on the situation. The 'On Hold Again?' section should include a dropdown box for us to choose the number of times the call centre has cut us off per day, the number of times our calls dropped per day when we call other people, the speed rate we are currently experiencing for 3G (0-1500+ Kbits per sec, for 3G anything below 300 Kbits per sec or about 38 KBytes per sec is just pathetic), and a textbox for us to briefly note the lame responses the call centre employees give us (for eg. 'We have technicians at the site and the network issues will be fixed by the end of this week.' These comments can be placed into categorised list, like the topic categories in Share Your Pain. It would be amusing to see which responses are most often heard from the call centres daily). A voluntary textbox for noting down the suburb where the customers are currently experiencing network issues may be necessary for further informative feedback, so we can see where the problems are and perhaps avoid those areas. A lyingmeter may be necessary for us to flag how many times the call centre or VHA staff lied based on us reporting their usual responses as is, in both the textbox for sharing call centre employee responses and the Share Your Pain section. All this may seem like we are doing an audit for Vodafone's network problems (which I strongly think Vodafone should be doing themselves), but if we actually provide enough information here, we can better inform eachother as well as other people about these issues. I believe the Share Your Pain is an excellent section for us to express our complaintful opinions and experiences of the Vodafone issues. The call centre is like a brick wall. At least here, there ARE Australian multicultural human species that can understand our problems. Cheers.

Its intersting that the Vodafone coverage map shows mobile coverage in the town of Bruthen, Vic even with zooming in it shows coverage in the town.

There is only Testra nextG coverage in the township from the local base station, there is no other 2G or 3G service in the town itself.

SO FIX YOUR MAP VODAFONE.

I called to complain 3.5hrs on home phone waiting, battery ran out.

I was lucky I got out of my contract and returned the phones. No penalty.

I have a cap of $79/mth and i use my mobile phone as an address book, often asking strangers on the street if i can use their phone and holding up my shiny new phone to assure them that i'm not homeless or destitute. I get reception roughly 30-40% of the hour if i'm lucky, which seems to be pretty standard in the remote areas of Sydney CBD. Many times i have tried to call the customer support but it drops out while i'm waiting in the queue listening to the ad loop. Thanks vodafone, you've managed to make Telstra look good.

Vodafone are heavily promoting their Cricket Australia app for iPhone. For $2.50 per match you are supposed to be able to watch live cricket. Sure, if Vodafone were capable of providing any reasonable amount of bandwidth perhaps. I was in Melbourne CBD, full reception, 3G signal set go. They took the 2.50, I got about 1.5 mins of video. Then, alas, it froze and I could not get sufficient data rates to even download the latest score, never mind stream video. When later in the day I managed to get web access again (remembering i still have full reception and a 3G signal), tha app wanted me to pay another $2.50, neglecting the fact that I had already paid. In a nut shell, Vodafone - Fail!

I entered into a contract with vodaphone as i was told they had no drop out at all, but i have experienced nothing but drop outs as well as recieving my text messages a day after they were sent, anything up to 48 hours late.
They seem to be quick to send you the bill but not quick to rectify any complaint or problem associated with you coverage.
Also why is it that when i dial a number it can take up to 5 minutes to connect and begin to ring? i am always on 1 bar of reception whilst other phone users from other companies have full coverage, this company is full of non compliance as far as i am concerned.

12800 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Hopeless and ripped-off at 17 Jan 2011 08:52:50 AM
I rely on my phone for my business. Vodafone offered me the service based on my home location but even there it is only patchy, varying from one bar to no bars. At my business it doesn't work at all. I have "no service" inside the building. If I go out the back door I sometimes get a signal. If I need a definite signal I need to cross the road and walk up the hill 50 metres before I can receive or make a call. I complained but was told that there is no guarantee other than for your home location.

I also travelled this past weekend along the Hume Highway. There was no phone coverage at Holbrook and nothing until I got to Marulan on the return to Sydney. From then on it was merely patchy until the Mt Annan turnoff.

When I travel overseas, as happens several times a month, I get no coverage for hours until I force the phone to reset by turning it on and off numerous times. Even then, this doesn't always work. When I've been overseas for several days or more, the phone won't connect to the Vodafone home network again when I get back without numerous attempts to find the signal.

12791 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 5 bars and NO INTERNET at 17 Jan 2011 06:42:55 AM
Here we go again - 5 bars reception 3G but try to go to a web site (news or otherwise) and no connectivity. Its not the towers, its not the floods, its something somewhere on the network. How difficult is it to troubleshoot, detect, analyse and fix. If your technical staff can't hack it get some people who know what they are doing and fix it.
17 Jan 2011 06:48:58 AM: Some other networks have already stated that in Qld they are giving priority to voice and text over data during the flood crisis. Not sure is Voda is also doing this also or your problem is just lack of Voda capacity.
17 Jan 2011 09:00:28 AM: well if there priority on vodafail is phone and text they arent doing a very good job of it coz those are the 2 things i have the most trouble with!!

12786 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is :-( assuming that only a small insignificant percentage of customers are having network service issues... at 17 Jan 2011 12:00:30 AM
Firstly, I give true credit and gratitude to the creator of this Vodafail site, and the moderator(s), for allowing us disappointed customers to vent our anger about our concerns of Vodafone. Without this site, we would remain unheard and we wouldn't know what other issues are occuring as well, nationally. With almost 13000 complaints here and counting, we can only deduce that there is a large sample size of troubled customers, since we do not know how many more customers are experiencing problems that do not post on this site. We also don't know how many of those 15000+ customers who signed up for the class action lawsuit, posted their complaints on this site. We also don't know how many customers of Vodafone Australia's approx. 4.5mil that have complained in various other ways (via email, phone, etc) excluding the internet forums, and have not resolved their issues. I've seen other people or Vodafone staff attempt to prove that there is minimal evidence of any problem with the network, by quoting the number of posts here against the total of Vodafone Australia's 4.5mil client base. That is not right and is plainly misleading. They need to reconsider the external undisclosed figures counting each customer with unresolved complaints, particularly from the call centre overseas where it should be logged. The key point is that if many customers are experiencing similar issues nationally, then there is a real problem that must be addressed, audited, and resolved. I really hope Vodafone is not purposely ignoring us just because there are only 12700+ complaint posts here, with the exception of repeat posts, posts defending Vodafone, or other undetailed complaints. Vodafone should not only take our customer data security extremely seriously, but their poor network too.

12783 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is unacceptable fail at 16 Jan 2011 09:33:41 PM
I've been a loyal vodafone customer for 7 years starting from when I got my first phone. Vodafone were always a great option for value, I thought it was great when they brought in the Maxi cap deals too... their contract deals were good too, so I made the switch over to a contract.... but unfortunately now it's gotten to a point where paying $99 a month for mobile and $59 a month for internet (This is how loyal I am to vodafone - I have ALL my services with them) is no longer value for money because the signal is constantly cutting out and I normally end up turning off my computer in a rage or just not calling the person back (but attempting to email them later on using the dodgy internet connection that drops out again - it's a mad circle)

I've emailed Vodafone countless amounts of time about coverage issues long before I switched to a contract, and all I ever got in return was some email saying to take the battery out of my mobile and put it back in or to check the SIM card..... I gave up complaining to Vodafone years ago. And when I tried to ring up I got some person who didn't understand what I was saying, and I couldn't understand what they were saying.

So overall Vodafone has gone from a good value option to an epic circle of fails. Once my contract is up this previously loyal customer is walking.
16 Jan 2011 09:40:02 PM: You may be able to get out of your contract earlier. If you lodge a complaint with the TIO and explain all of your issues (calls dropping, poor service etc), they should be able to assist you out of your contract. Check the How To Complain link at the top of the page.

12780 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Extremely at 16 Jan 2011 08:34:56 PM
Well I have been on Vodafone for many years now, and I can only say I have never really had issues with coverage. I am a prepaid customer all these years. A few years back, I tried to get a contract with Crazy Johns. At the time my application was declined on "bad credit". My credit rating was clean, and I found out it was Vodafone (who is the service provider for Crazy Johns) that was declining me. I called them to ask what the problem was and it was a bill I had forgot to pay 4 or 5 years or so earlier. Said bill DID get paid all those years ago, but it had been forwarded to their debt collection office. Because of this, I was "not a good customer" even though I had used their pre-paid service for all those years. The customer "care" call ended in me requesting to talk to someone else as the operator I had was not helping me, only telling me I was a bad customer. She said someone would call me on Monday morning - that never happened.

So I forgot about that episode and still, remained as a pre-paid customer with Vodafone. This year (about 7 years after my late paid bill) I tried ot sign up with Crazy John's again. "7 years" I thought, "surely I'm not still blacklisted". DECLINED. Ok, so now I was seriously considering another provider but then Vodafone brought out their recent infinite package, and I have been trying to hold out long enough to see what competition comes out.

Today I went to call on my pre-paid and had no credit. No worries, I'll use the website to recharge. Go to Vodafone website, cant log in. "incorrect password". I had this happen before. Vodafone changes my password or just loses it or something (i don't know? no other website on the entire internet does this to me?). So I do "Forgot my password?" and it says, "your phone number isnt in our system" WTF!!?!?!?! Ok, so then I'll resign up. Step 1 enter phone number, step 2 get temp password SMS to my phone, put it in the form FAIL. Website just... FAILS. Doesn't load up the next step. Just sits there. Not loading. Not waiting for data. Just "Done." Status bar should have said "FAIL".
So now, more pissed off, I thought, how about I try that password just SMS to me to log into my account? Go to login page, try that, now it still says wrong password. Ok, try "forgot password" again. This time it decides that I _AM_ in the system and asks my secret question! Ok, type in the correct answer and it sends me a tem password to my phone to login with.
Get temp password from SMS, try to login - FAIL.

Now seething, I decide to call Customer "Care" as a last resort. After fighting with some voice automated menus, I get forwarded through. From what I heard of the message, it said something like, "We've got more calls than we expected. Please call back later." and it hangs up on me. After seeing red and considering through my phone THROUGH the plaster board wall I decided rather to drop the phone on the bed next to me and say to my wife,

"I'm sick of this. I'm getting a new provider."
17 Jan 2011 04:47:05 PM: Just curious was this after the '3' merger? '3' used to label me as a 'bad customer' if I downloaded some files. I'm not talking movies here either, maybe a CD.iso, then they would cut me off and I'd have to ring them etc etc. I was not over my limit at any stage, just used more data download than they deemed ok apparently. Unfortunately I joined Vodaf..ked to get away from this nonsense with '3'.

I spent a collective 5 full days on the phone talking to people in India who would repeat questions because they weren't paying attention, and would go silent for mins until you yell are you still there!?! Almost a week of my life wasted on this company. 4 yrs of bad credit rating because they lodged a default claim for an unpain mobile device that they did not bother contacting me at all!!

Vodafone Australia network is giving me bad reception where I live and at work. I'm going to switch providers and get out of this pit. Is Optus and Telstra 3G services functioning fine? because I don't want to be stuck with bad reception and no service for months. Need some advice from people who switched telcos. Thanks in advance.

My phone always goes from 100% coverage to none. This happens all day at no particular time. Yes this has been costing me income as i am in high end sales, self employed and i have had clients lose my call only to call a competitor and purchase from them. I once was a Vodafone dealer with 4 stores in 1998 and the network was great. The massive increase in users has not been matched in network capacity, now its catch up time at everyone elses expense.

We are having numerous problems.
1) Receiving sms messages days late sometimes don't get them at all, also mms messages have not been received at all.
2) Phone will constantly cut out during a phone call. Also when dialling a number it will connect then instantly disconnect.
3) 10 minutes into a phone call it will disconnect, when we call them back it will do it again at 10 mins.
4) One minute wew will have reception and then the next we will have nothing even at home where we should have reception.
5) When we contact customer service we are put on hold for more than an hour, or if we get them to call us back they don't at all we end up trying to call them back.

We have been a loyal vodafone customer for years and have never had a problem until now and we have not had the response we should be getting. They are not being loyal to us at all.

There may be some 'selfish' and indirectly 'racist' comments in previous posts, but considering the fact that Vodafone continues to ignore us, those comments are expressing our concerns about the failing network and the foreign based call centre that we can barely call. Due to the Vodafone call centre being inconveniently place many kilometers north of Australia, I can only just imagine it as a business tactic to make our calls to that call centre become dropped or not even reach them. If there are foreign employees working in there, then it is only respectful that Vodafone ensures they are well trained to speak understandable english, accent or not. If they have an indian accent but can be clearly understood, then there is no reason to imply 'racist' comments about their accent. Furthermore, Vodafone should open up an Australian call centre that is multicultural so that it caters for Australian concerns. We Australians are quite capable of being employed for call centre work. So in other words, Vodafone Australia, as an Australian company, has outsourced their call centre. So if we Australians take that in an alternate perspective, why won't they hire Australians for their call centres? Thus, we see that even Vodafone Australia is being indirectly 'racist' to us, as if we Australians are not capable for that. I will be cancelling my account with Vodafone due to their network getting worse everyday and they do nothing about it. My phone and mobile broadband needs a service to function. Does anyone know if Vodafone is doing anything with their network to fix this in the upcoming weeks? Evidence please.
17 Jan 2011 04:56:38 PM: I suspect they use cheap overseas labour with the added bonus that customers cannot understand their English, get frustrated and just let Vodaf..k walk all over them.

I just called Vodafone technical support moments ago and this is what Lara told me before she cut me off: "OUR 'FANTASTIC' PRODUCTS AND SERVICES ARE CAUSING SO MANY BUSY CALLS TODAY. PLEASE CALL BACK LATER ON." "FANTASTIC"?! Vodafone if there are so many customers calling technical support, I don't think it's fantastic. Your network services are actually spastic. Get it right. I think Lara is having serious issues at attempting to allocate her several stupid generic responses. I have almost no 3G reception since the beginning of Jan, near adelaide. 2G is even slower...Vodafone is dead. Let's arrange a funeral for this appalling business.

I have been with Vodaphone for at least 10 years. I rang them in December to complain about the latest plan I had been sold, and to enquire about what they could offer me that would be be economical for my rate of calling. A Rep came to see me and I signed up for $49 per month plan which was supposed to be more suited to my needs. I received my first bill in January and saw that I was still on the old plan. I rang the rep who I had seen and he told me that I had to insert my new SIM card into my old fone, that I would be without mobile coverage for 24 hours, but that I would be on the new plan when the reception resumed. That was on Thursday, today is Sunday, and I still have no fone reception. I have tried to ring Vodaphone on numerous occasions over the past 3 days, but have been unable to get thru despite waiting on the line for in excess of 40 mins each time. On Friday I received 3 bills from Vodaphone, all with different account numbers and 1 for a phone number that I have never had. My dissatisfaction with Vodaphone knows no limits.

I have to turn my iPhone 3G on and off or switch on Airport mode then back off nearly everyday because the phone will show no signal/3G or EVEN WHEN IT DOES SHOW SIGNAL OR 3G calls wont go through or the internet will drop out. This has been going on for over a year. A lot of the times when friends are around I will compare my signal strength with their optus handsets while they get full reception and I have none. I am on the Northern Beaches of Sydney where millions of people live just north of the CBD, I'm not living in the middle of a mountain range in the middle of nowhere. This is unacceptable.

Also, whenever I try to view my usage online the website is never working.

I'm paying $79 a month + $10 insurance. Not happy.

I contacted vodafone and was told to send my phone back after about 2 months of paying my bill with no phone to use I finally recieved a brand new iPhone 3GS saying that the problem was resolved by giving me a new phone, a week or so later, the same thing has happened till this day, I tried getting out but they would not let me without paying the remaining amount left on the contract which I do not have.

Thanks vodafone regards... >_>

Vodafone's reception failure and problems has caused me to make many calls to call back work colleagues, thus increasing my telephone usage bills. The 'coverage' is in Potts Point. My colleagues use telstra and optus, and they say that using vodafone is a mistake. I just want to leave vodafone without penalty.

My second problem was using the vodafone help numbers to establish a new vodafone internet account, ie, the dial-up broadband. I used the 'help' numbers on my mobile 'phone and was charged hundreds of dallars on top of my usual bill. They reduced by bill by $100, but it was still $180.00 more than I usually paid.

12723 Someone from SA thinks vodafone is watching the world go by at 16 Jan 2011 01:04:10 AM
It has been a month of utterly shit 3G/2G signal and speed where I live, east of cbd. (Sigh) I can't reach vodafone support properly. Their website states nothing about the state of network towers in SA. Lara is a retard and not helping. Vodafone has not done anything about their retrograding infrastructure. Vodafone makes many customers feel like crap, worse than or as other telcos. Nigel Dews is doing shit all. (my general assumption and opinion) The infinite caps are making the network even more obliterated. I hope potential customers don't switch to vodafone. The indian call centre is for the vodafone in india, not australia. Tossing our calls overseas to india will not save costs, but cause more pain. Vodafone Australia seriously needs an Australian call centre. They also need to abide by the law and provide a service that works when they sell products to new customers. They also must promptly fix a service should it be broken nationwide. Vodafone Australia ultimately needs to go through and revise all 12000+ complaints on this site. They also need to revise through the plethora of issue threads in Whirlpool forums. However, they are ignorant. I don't think vodafone australia has any contact with their indian call centre. That call centre is a sidelined relic. The merge with 3 has not shown any positives since both provide the generally similar plans. Trying to gain market share by merging is just pathetic. If VHA think they can combine their $millions cash investment into their network to alleviate expenditure, then I don't see any evidence of them 'improving' their network over the past year. Nigel Dews, can you please tell us what on earth is going on with the company's network services. (he denies any issue at all) 15000+ customers signup to class action lawsuit and this vodafail site launches skyhigh into the heavens. (he automatically apologises with an attitude like Lara and tries to gain good public relations) We find that he lied to us that the network is all fine but its actually fkd. We wonder why vodafone has done nothing about the network. (he too, remains silent, aside from his dogmatic statement that the network will be upgraded and the service will be even better apparently.) I guess those 'upgrades' are disrupting the services so badly to the point many customers find it unusable. The CEO seriously needs to review the company's mission statements if there are any left. This failing network is taking long to recover and any upgrades should not sever our services for extended periods. And Vodafone's slogan 'power to you' needs revising. These days it seems that Vodafone has the power to do nothing. Luckily we customers have the power to leave. However, vodafone has the power to hinder us from leaving. Luckily again, with the help of TIO we have the power to leave without penalty. All I can say is thanks vodafone, for giving us extraordinary powers. It would be even better if they conserved their power for resolving their service...nuff said.

I live in the south east suburbs of melbourne and can't even get reception on my iPhone with Vodafail from my bedroom. I have an iPad with a pre-paid sim with Telstra and that has full bars in the same location. 12717 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Complete Service Delivery Failure at 15 Jan 2011 09:40:20 PM
We moved to Point Cook recently from the CBD. Even in the CBD at times my wife and I had no service or poor call and internet performance, but it was still bearable. As it stands at the moment, at home we have no service at times, one bar most of the time, never more than two bars and then only for a couple of seconds and a very bad internet connection all the time. Mostly GPRS or EDGE connections, but at times we have poor 3G connections too, again only for a couple of seconds at a time. In my personal opinion the frequent dropping out of service, of both call signal and internet service, amounts to complete service delivery failure. Best of all, their coverage map states that we're supposed to have the same service here as in the CBD. What a crock. I won't recommend Vodafone to anyone, quite the contrary. I'm not going to stay with them either.

I was a three customer for many years and never had any reception issues. In November 2010, I went to a three store to purchase an Apple Iphone 4. I was told at the store that three handsets were out of stock and that Vodafone handsets were in stock. I was promised by store staff that Vodafone reception is excellent now due to the merger with three. Since signing up with Vodafone, I have had nothing but reception issues. A lot of the time, I can't make any calls or send sms messages and any text messages sent to me take a long time to receive. Using internet features is non-existent...I can't access any features including itunes and the appstore at anytime. I emailed Vodafone a long winded letter a few weeks ago requesting that they either terminate my contract or change me over to three (who I know have no reception issues) and they are yet to get back to me. I am regularly required to go on-call for work and the only form of contact that my work has with me is via mobile phone. I would not be surprised if work tries to contact me in the near future and the call fails to connect (which would cost me hundreds of dollars for any single call out). I continue to fulfil my contractual commitments by paying my monthly bill on time however Vodafone regularly fail to meet their end of the agreement. Why should I continue to pay for a service that is inadequate in almost every way??

Their slogan is "Power to you"...Whose got the power??

Yes I am a very frustrated customer!

Originally with 3 mobile on my Mobile broadband, and with voda on a prepaid, all was well in the coverage and speed front. Then they merged and all went to the dogs. I was conned into beliving that the merge would increase the network speed and coverage so I signed up on a mobile phone contract with vodafone. 2 month of shit coverage (i had to manually switch my phone all the tome between GSm and 3g manually depending on where i was, and an ever slowing 3 mobile connection, i was told that i can switch my 3 mobile broadband to voda mobile proadband - and that that would solve my speed issues because more money was being invested in the vodafone side of things. So i figured a freww switch i could handel.

Now I have no connection to mobile broadban and shitty mobile phone coverage. My mum is in the same boat and my girlfriend too. Time to call consumer affairs i think.

In and around the Brisbane CBD, I've had a horrible time using my phone while these floods are going on. I've given up on 3G entirely, almost every phone call drops out, often I sit there for 6mins with full bars trying to send SMS's to friends getting supplies at Bunnings, often I get "Emergency calls only" for a while, and often reception drops in and out of "No service" even though I've been at the same place all day.

It's made things really hard for us when family members are trying to contact, or our clean up group gets split.

I simply don't want to pay my bills anymore. I don't see why I should have to pay so much when so much of my time is spent persevering with this shit. I feel like I should be getting paid to stay on with them or at least be given the chance to break contract (god knows they're certainly not keeping up their end of it).

I have been using vodafone mobile services for several months. Back then the product and network was fine. Until a few months ago, the network became poor quality and it has stayed that way for a long time. I, like many customers, was not aware that vodafone's network would fail suddenly in the upcoming months and not be resolved with urgency. I'm stuck on my contract for many more months knowing there is a remaining cost that I would have to pay if I choose to get myself out of this hell. Yes, I could contact TIO to help me exit the contract with no penalty, but here's the catch. Vodafone states that they are doing network tower upgrades over the next few months. However, they don't specify when such areas will be affected and when it will be completed for those areas. Stating when with where is very important when advising customers about vodafones apparent effort to upgrade towers. We never know that many of these network issues could be a result of tower maintenance. Unfortunately, vodafone's website does not detail network tower upgrade times/dates (only outages and upgrade locations are shown), so we are left uninformed and we begin complaining about persistent network problems. This obviously means that vodafone are not upgrading their towers with any urgency at all. Retarded as. Heres another notion. Some journalists wrote their hard opinions that we customers are all at fault because we could've chosen another telco and that we are lazy whingers. Thats lame. We are not entirely at fault because the law states that a business' goods and services must be fit for the purpose they are sold. Not the case with vodafone. We cannot predict such sudden mishaps with the network, so many of us are in contracts we had a while back before the ongoing crap, having to whinge our way through the poor customer support and TIO to even end them. Why? Because the network has been broken for an extended period and neglected by vodafone for a while. Don't blame us for whinging as the company is ignorant. Vodafone staff, don't stress or feel hurt over our aggravated state, just deal with it since the company you work for is ACTUALLY giving us shit at the moment. Most telcos solve SERIOUS issues like these with URGENCY. But vodafone is just acting too slow or not at all. With nostalgia, I wish vodafone was as good as it used to be when I enjoyed their services. Now it's remaining fallen, most of us won't wait forever for them to fix this crap. Most importantly: a happy customer supports a prosperous business and a reliable service brings caring customers. Vodafone have lost that and they need it urgently, don't you all think? -W.
15 Jan 2011 01:01:33 AM: I saw that article and comments calling us "lazy whingers. " How much research do you have to do on a company that is allowed to trade in Australia, and you're aware of a TIO and an ACCC and an ASIC and you're assuming they are each doing their jobs, before you get a sim card with that company? And then, do you also need to research the TIO,ACCC and ASIC? Probably yes. Most people are aware there is hypebole in advertisements- we thought there were penalties for deceptive and misleading practices. If you remind me where I saw it,I'll go back and post what I've just written there, or you can.
Yeah, I remember when Vodafone seemed good- when they seemed innovative, and just a little bit hungrier because they were new.Initially,I actually couldn't understand why friends seemed so glad to have left.

Upgraded my handset with Vodafone over the phone, was told that to insure the new handset I would need to go and visit a store after I had received it.. I did so, and was promptly told that I was no longer eligible for insurance as that needed to be arranged at time of purchase. Apparently they were not allowed to sell me insurance over the phone in the period that I upgraded, so rather than loose the sale, the staff member simply lied.. Now I am left with an uninsured iPhone which they refused to either insure or accept as a return.

Next I moved to a new house, and as my home phone was getting changed I though i could rely on my mobile to stay in touch.. Fail.. Vodafone had NO coverage at the suburb I moved to for two weeks as they upgraded a tower.. not even low coverage, NO coverage, I literally had to drive to the next suburb to get my texts and make calls.. I live in the inner suburbs of Brisbane, the third largest city in the country and they simply turned off coverage for a fortnight. im on a $99 cap, you would think that I would be entitled to $50 off? no deal..

I hate you Vodafone.. more than Telstra even.. and that is a massive call

21 Jan 2011 08:55:58 AM: Vodafone insurance is totally worthless anyway, read the PDS, I was unable to find a scenario where a phone would be covered.

Shit reception... Shouldn't have to have to keep turning my phone on and off all the time. No reception (except 5 minutes) on a 6 hour journey, yet my sister with Optus had FULL coverage, except for 5 minutes...

Live in Huntingdale. Western Australia, and the reception works when it feels like it... Have too keep turning my phone on and off. Can't send MMS...
BUT...This morning I went to Kalgoorlie with my sister (Optus) and she had FULL reception all the way. I had about 5 minutes, half way there.
Vodafone, is quick to send a bill every month (which I understand, am under contract) Not fair when can't even use the phone half the time... Want to change carriers? Can I, even if under contract?
15 Jan 2011 12:33:29 AM: Contact TIO and lodge the complaint. They help you get out of the contract without penalty.

12676 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Epic failure at 14 Jan 2011 10:24:31 PM
Okay, so i've had my phone replaced 3 times in the 4 months i've had it, i've had my sim card replaced 2 times.
my phone doesn't pick up 3G at all, at the most i get two bars of reception, i went to call Vodafone and what would you know? call failed, about 9 out of 10 calls fail.. they tried to tell me it was my handset and not the network after about 5 hours of calling them they tell me yeah, it is a network problem give it 7 days. i called them everyday for 3 or so weeks and i just kept getting palmed off to different departments, and someone told me at the call centre that they could replace my phone in store for a different handset, uhm no sorry. I'm not sure how many times i've heard "oh that isn't in your case notes" i went into a vodafone shop and got them to write case notes while i was there, i thought maybe the message would get accross apparently not, they offerd me three months free billing period, i didn't call up cancellations because i wanted a free billing period, i want to cancel my contract. I refuse to pay for a device i can't use, i was promised a functional handset and network.

they need to check their case notes, they need to listen to people, they need to get the problem solved when it comes to them, otherwise we're just going to get angrier and it'll only aggravate us more the longer we don't get it fixed.

and most of all, they need a better service. The lady i spoke to today said if i would refer one of my friends to vodafone, sorry i wouldn't do that to anyone i know.
14 Jan 2011 10:32:37 PM: one more thing, people that are going into Vodafone stores about network issues, they can't do anything even if the people at the call center tell you that they can touch your contract in anyway, they can't especially if you have an iphone, don't even bother.
15 Jan 2011 07:52:32 AM: I disagree, stating your problem in a loud enough voice that customers can hear, wasting THEIR staff's time and make them suffer to use their F.... up system, seeing them getting disconnected 3 times, put on hold. Holding up VFu..s resources, and turning their system on THEM, so they suffer from it. Staff can't pretend the system is wonderful when it so blatently isn't. Some may even find it amusing, I just find it wonderfully vindictive to give them what we get.
15 Jan 2011 07:54:02 AM: Oh and don't forget to use the instore button menu to grade vodafone on their 'performance'.
15 Jan 2011 11:33:00 AM: If there was a grading range from a to f, vodafone would generally be a z since mid last year
16 Jan 2011 08:32:38 PM: I had a woman try that on me the other day 9:52:32. Bad advice. She was out the shopping centre door so fast her eyeballs were spinning.

I live in Broadbeach, Gold coast, Qld and have had various problems with my Vodafone pre-paid mobile phone account for the past couple of months. I have been with Vodafone for about 4 years but I am going to change carriers. Some of the problems I am having are: Not receiving calls, several attempts to make calls (call failed), no reception (emergency only), calls dropping out, phone freezing up or tuning off, battery dying quickly, occassionally not receiving sms.

12673 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is Epic at 14 Jan 2011 09:36:59 PM
If you live south of Perth near Baldivis, don't even bother going with Vodafone. my wife was told that the lack of reception was due to an old phone, upgraded to an iPhone. She still has no reception, I am with another service provider and full bars. Went back to Vodafone and the first question do you have a tin roof? Yes! Thats the problem. LIARS!
15 Jan 2011 12:43:24 PM: I live in Baldivis and have recently changed to Vodafone with an iPhone4 and have no problems at all with reception, calls, txts etc. My experience with Vodafone has been great. Have a colourbond roof also. Why a some people having problems and others are not?
16 Jan 2011 01:25:44 PM: maybe you dont live in baldivis ?
16 Jan 2011 04:21:21 PM: yeah good comment - I know where I live, maybe you just want a new phone?
16 Jan 2011 10:05:32 PM: no. I am in baldivis aswell.

I get terrible reception on ALL carriers except telstra.
Still vodafone is the worst out of all of them. No 3G, no 2G

Optus atleast has full bars 2G at the house which'll do. It's in one of the new areas so i'm sure a new tower will be put in soon.

12672 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Super EPIC at 14 Jan 2011 09:27:04 PM
Whenever the reception switches from 3G to EDGE, the reception of the call will start to go loopy! The voices sounds like a bad cassette tape being fast forward! I have been a customer for the past 10 YEARS!!! and this has now pushed me to go with Optus. Seems like Vodafail is becoming where Telstra used to be during the Sol times...
15 Jan 2011 06:12:47 PM: whenever someone rings me all i can hear is the echo of there voice, the whole convo sounds like they are standing inside a cave or something. its really distracting and annoying!!!

12671 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is dodgy reception at 14 Jan 2011 08:34:24 PM
I broke down on the F3 Freeway tonight. I had 3 bars service until I made a phone call and then nothing but a little cross on my Desire HD to signify no coverage. Thanks alot Vodafone. I ended up using an emergency phone thats on the side of the road. But that wasn't an easy walk with a 3 year old and a 6 month old on my own at 9pm at night!!! epic Fail!!! I transfered for the Desire HD and am regretting it!!!!
14 Jan 2011 08:56:20 PM: Contact the TIO (link can be found at the top under How To Complain) and get out of your contract. Vodafone are just offering a fail service everywhere.
