Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

13566 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is TERRIBLE at 21 Jan 2011 09:06:13 AM
I will be on the phone and it suddenly drops out- all the time! I rang Vodafone and spoke to them about it and then they said- the address that I had my phone registered at- this area will be checked, and if it comes back that there are network issues- i will be able to get out of my contract free of charges. If not, it will cost me about $450! They can't just investigate the area the phone was registered at- as THIS IS A MOBILE-- SO I AM MOBILE- and so the network issues are happening everywhere i go!

DOES ANYONE THINK IS THIS TOTALYL UNFAIR?

13565 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Useless Reception at 21 Jan 2011 09:05:54 AM
I can not understand how you can live within 6km of the centre of the second largest city in this country and have such poor reception that half your calls go straight to voicemail and you have to stand outside in the rain to get good enough reception to make calls. If you offer a service you need to deliver it and if you have a certain number of users in an area you need to update your network so that it can support the users. Vodafone is globalisation at it's cheapest.

13562 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is reception at 21 Jan 2011 09:04:55 AM
3 used to roam on telstra which sort of worked. Since 3 linked to Vodafone roaming I can't even get reception in parts of Glebe let alone rural NSW where i often work eg the New England Highway, Hunter Valley. I feel I will have to get myself 2 mobiles which is ridiculous! I gave up on the call centre but vodaphone shop staff were polite even if unable to assist.

13558 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Very poor reception - calls just drop out at 21 Jan 2011 09:03:58 AM
Live just 1 hour north of Brisbane. I and my 2 sons are all with vodafone did this to support their sponsorship of motor racing. Our reception is pathetic. If there is a tree or anything else in the area there is no reception.... Even in our house we have to go outside to either send or receive calls. When people visit who are with other Telecos they are able to receive calls etc. Have also been having problems with calls just dropping out, You then have to recall them which makes Vodafone more money. Not a bad ploy...........

13555 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Moderate at 21 Jan 2011 09:03:17 AM
My reception in my apartment literally went to nothing for approx. 4 days in December. I'm assuming because they were doing their rolling repairs. I switch to 2G and it worked. But I pay for 3G not 2G.

My real anger comes from all the stories of people ringing up and getting bills credited after argueing with them for a long time. I'm not a confrontational person, I don't want to ring up and abuse staff and ask to speak to managers just to get a credit on my bill. They should just give everyone a credit on their bills until the problem is fixed.

13542 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is a bunch of twits.. at 21 Jan 2011 08:56:50 AM
Vodafail have no idea on how to treat customers, or even produce any kind of customer service what-so-ever. I have no reception at my house. The phone is continously dropping out with no reception (in the middle of the city), with calls and internet (called at least 10 times in regardss to the interent!!) on phone. SICK TO DEATH of speaking to people I CANNOT understand (WHERE IS THE AUSSIE SPIRIT..!!) Trying to get something done.. and they offer an additional INTERNET SERVICE! Seriously guys.. you cant get one thing operating.. WHY IN GODS NAME WOULD I WANT ANOTHER..
I left Vodaphone a couple of years ago.. because they had no clue on how to bill people.. Went to another next (which i SHOULDNT HAVE LEFT) because Vodaphone was highly commended by one of my mates.. WHAT A JOKE you guys are.
NO i will not pay ANY of my bills until this is fixed..
NO i will not pay out nmy contract becasue of your stuff ups..
NO i will NEVER recommend Vodaphone to anyone. and..
..YES i will do my very dam best to tell everyone what a poor, unless bunch of twits you really are.

Hi, just venting my anger here. Late last year, December... my vodafone coverage completely dropped out for approx 1 week. I could not receive or make calls. Naturally I contacted vodafone customer service, and was instructed to restart my phone, reset network settings and change the sim. After doing all that was advised, my calls are still dropping out to this day, I have no service 90% of the time, even when im in CBD area... and my 3G is extremely slow. I've completely had it Vodafone...

13538 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Bad lyer catch 22 at 21 Jan 2011 08:54:52 AM
All the time my phone drops out in middele conversation . This i beleive is on purpous as calls are payed for and timed.

So i complained to Vodafone. who fobbed me off to thier customer service representatives, who said there weren't any known network issues and the problems that i was experiencing were related to my brand new Mobile phone or my old SIM card.

So i took the phone in to NOkia services center as vodafone reps suggested. After much testing, supprise.... Nokia found nothing wrong with new phone. In most cases they too suggested to reboot the phone or get a new SIM card does not solve the problem. catch 22.

Nokia told me it was the sim card or the network services. A Catch 22 since, back and forth from Vodafone and Nokia. I used my old phone to see if its the new phone or the newtork. Yes its the vodafone network. Im so lokcked into a 2 year phone contract that is so bad.

I rang on Wednesday 19th January to complain (again!!) Had previously put in a written complaint just after christmas. The response was everything was ok and the technicians were doing everything possible. I had to make 5 phone calls to 2 people as the phone dropped out didn't go through - honestly who knows! I rang to cancel the service got a customer service officer, they put me through to another area network connections and they take my mobile number and that was it dead silence on the other end of the phone. They didn't even ring back. I rang 155 again and the phone rang (yes rang) for 20 mins and no one answered it. I've had ENOUGH!!!!

13523 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is at 21 Jan 2011 08:48:12 AM
I was a loyal customer of Vodafone for many years. I recommended them to my friends and family and had others join Vodafone. Until about 12 months ago, when I began with network issues with my mobile telephone and mobile broadband. I waited out the broadband contract, but had just committed to a 2 year contract for the phone. I moved down the road in the inner city suburbs of Sydney and found I couldn't get any coverage at home. Vodafone tried to blame the move (it's the inner city..!) then my handset. So I had my handset replaced. Vodafone still blamed my handset, then blamed me - apparently I was delusional because "all checks were conducted" and they found "no faults." I collected evidence, patiently conducted all the troubleshooting, had statements from third parties connected with Vodafone and 3, I argued (politely yet assertively) with them for 6 months, I even had the phone hung on me by Vodafone! Until finally I went to the TIO. Initially even the TIO referred me straight back to Vodafone and closed the case. Vodafone offered me a discount - they ignored the issue which was that I could not use the service. Vodafone told me a discount was "the most the TIO would be able to do" also. Feeling like I had no option, I begrudgingly accepted the discount and very disgruntled, I wrote to the TIO expressing my disappointment with their handling of the matter. Finally, TIO escalated the complaint and they contacted Vodafone. After months of pleading with Vodafone - I have finally been released from my contract. A contract which, in my view, Vodafone had been in breach of anyway. If you're experiencing the same, request to be released. Contact the relevant Ombudsperson in your area. Thank you Vodafail for bringing this issue to everyone's attention.

13521 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is bad coverage at 21 Jan 2011 08:46:59 AM
I have poor connection to Vodafone services at my work place which is in the building of 1 Margaret St, Sydney, NSW 2000. I see only 1 or 2 bars on my phone display. Some areas in the building show no signal at all. As a result I have very limited possibility to call anyone or receive a call. The situation is the same with other Vodafone customers in the building.

13518 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Coverage at 21 Jan 2011 08:46:05 AM
We have our 2nd home in Cromer Heights only because neither my VHA 3G phone coverage and my wife's Voda Phones (yeap 2 of) are so badly covered signal wise that we need to live monday - Friday at Neutral bay where the coverage is sufficent that we can use the mobiles with any sort of accepatble quality.

In addition the use of 3G Data connections is like whistling dixie.

To get an accepteble conversation we stand on the footpath at the front of the house or on top of the back fence so that the persons we are talking to can actually hear our conversation.

#g was Ok when it roamed on Telstra but now HVA has it set up to use Vodaphone onluy

In short ideal service location at Cromer Heights provide you are prepared to accept poor and often no service coverage.

My parents live about 30 mins out of Melbourne in a quite well known town. Since joining Vodafone I have been unable to use my mobile at all when out that way to visit them, there is absolutely no reception. This coupled with the delayed voice mail, SMS and MMS messages can become incredibly. Never had this issue with my other provider.

13513 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is In every way! at 21 Jan 2011 08:45:04 AM
I have been with Vodafone for 10 years now, and in the last 6 or so months, they have become the worst Telco company in Australia.
I still have all my bills downloaded, detailing the numerous times I would have to call someone back after signal dropouts. I called Vodafone 2 weeks ago after realising customer loyalty means nothing to them. I spoke to one person after holding for 10 minutes, who then transferred me to the Network department, for whom I waited on hold for 45 minutes. And yes, I was calling from a landline at work because my mobile, my only form of communication, would have dropped out after just 2 minutes.

They eventually called me back stating that the coverage in my area has been improved since I complained. My initial question to them was "do I have to pay exit fees on my contract?" which I reiterated to them at this point. They transferred me yet again. Being on my mobile this time, my phone cut out. I then contacted the Ombudsman and am currently waiting to hear from Vodafone again.

I am so sick of not receiving text messages or people not being able to call me because my phone is "unavailable" when it should be available.

Responding to Vodaphones' statement that one call look at the Status on their website, when I looked, only Qld is experiencing any problems, the rest of us should obviously be happy. Looking at where the upgrades are listed for NSW, I see that no country areas at all are listed - are we once again the poor cousins.

And I never receive calls or vmail when at home. Only once I leave home do my vmails start to appear.

A few things:
a) I am using mobile phone for my business a lot. A few months back I was at Melbourne airport trying to talk to my boss about an important customer situation in our business. Call dropped, no coverage. A few seconeds later I had full coverage, and I had not moved. Got in contact again, spoke for 2 minutes of so, call dropped, no coverage. I had not moved an inch. Few seconds later I had full coverage and opened a call again. Dropped after a minute and could not connect any more, had to board the plane. Our conversation got delayed by 1 1/2 hours and had impact. Grrrrrr.
b) I have been Vodafone customer since 2002. I have been driving along beach road (I know it's not Beach Road all the way but anyway) for all these years and very typical it is that I am using my hands free, while driving around 5-6 pm. In the past I could fingerpoint 2 sports along the way where I knew there was no reception and my call would drop. Today I can fingerpoint 5 spots. This tells you how Vodafone is improving it's service.

I have decided to move to Telstra, once my contract is over. Happy to pay more as long as by business is not impacted.

13482 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Billing / Cover / Lack of Customer Service at 21 Jan 2011 08:34:49 AM
After 3 hours on hold with Vodaphone regarding the above issues and being passed and dropped and passed and dropped, I decided - screw this,I'm going to email and they can call me. 5 emails later and 6 weeks, no call. I have no reception while at my house or my parents house, my partner is self employed and constantly misses calls regarding jobs because of reception coverage, I cancelled his plan months because of the lack of reception and told the customer service team that and they said there was nothing they could do, only now to be told they should have let us out of the contact instead of me paying $400 for the service to be cancelled because of the lack of range. Their company is a joke, and I can't see it getting any better for me in the short term, considering we are not pushing the 2 month mark and no answers.
Thanks for the vent!

I've just switched over to Vodafone from 3 and signed up to a 45 Infinite plan with a iPHone 4. The plan was only activated a week ago and when I check my balance (hoping to confirm data usage but also whether I have any charges outstanding), it said I owed $5 then $7 etc. I'm not concerned about the money but I looked into the plan in depth and I don't believe I have made any calls/data that isn't covered (including tethered data).

Logging into my Vodafone shows I'm being charged for all data ...and yes it is way, way under 1G. All used in 3G or E network etc

FOUR calls to Vodafone. System down, still have $576 left under cap (WTF – it isn't a 'cap' plan – thanks complaints line), hang up after 45 mins and we don't know until you get your bill.

1) Does anyone else have this problem? Obviously, I want confirmation of what it is I'm supposidely doing that isn't covered.
2) Why does Vodafone sign people up just to piss them off?

Rang up to complain about reception issues. After 2 hours of being on hold and told to hang in there, she said she needed to transfer me. While transfering me they must of been new because they hung up on me(or it cut out after 2 hours on hold who knows.)
Ringing back again the next day i decided to choose cancellations. Thinking they may pick up a cancellation quicker as the person at this stage might be pissed, I again had to wait 2 hours to be told to be transfered again.
After successfully being transfered and another 2 hour wait they said they would "look into it".
Are you serious? 6 hours of waiting to be told they are looking into it. 3 days later they rang me back saying they had fixed the problem. After telling him they have not done shit and I still need to stand on my bed to make a call and get the 1 bar or so needed, they claimed they are always making improvements to their network and to just hang in there.
I think the ombudsman can sort this out for me now.

This is my second contract with vodafone. Had no problem for the duration of my first contract however once I renewed my contract for a 2nd term I started to experience certain probelms. After switching to paperless statements I rely on their website to provide me with my billing information. This worked out nicely for a while however for some reason unknown to me I was not able to login anymore to veiw my statement and therefore unable to make payment for my bill. Once I contact the CS dept at Vodafone(on hold for 2hrs) in regards to this issue they advise they were upgrading the system, I have to call them each month to ask LARA for an account balance. It appears that they have been upgrading thier site for the last 3 months. Anyhow CS were totally useless in resolving this issue and straight out RUDE!! Why they outsource their call centre to india is a mystery. They may be cheap labour but the service they provide shows exactly how cheap these guys really are. At least give them guys over their a crash course in English. Oh and I also have the standard Vodafone issue's like no reception, delayed msg's and voicemail and poor download speed. My contract ends in March and I cant wait until its finally over. Never going back!

My technically illiterate mother recently purchased a Vodafone internet dongle. IT worked perfectly when it was set up and easily downloaded. After 1 week she tried to use it again and whilst it would connect it would not download. It took 6 minutes for the Facebook homepage to even display. She called Vodafone who told her it was 1)her computer 2) her USB port 3) where the computer was located in the house (without acknowledging that it had worked perfectly well in the same place before) not once did they mention they had known network issues. They have become an absolute joke of a company. I noticed the other day when they had a security breach they issued a press statement and took immediate action (Because they could be prosecuted if they did not) where as people have been having network issues for months and no statement (with any valuable info) or action has been taken (is this because they cant be charged for it so don't care)?

Both our mobiles drop out all the time and the reception lately has been very patchy, sometimes you need to turn the mobile off to gain reception again. Trying to ring vodafone direct is a pain in the neck, you never get to the right department, make a complaint-"you want to make a payment"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For the past 8 months or so my phone would display full 3G service yet i cannot go on the internet, make a call or even send a text message. Once i turn 3G off my phone works with no problem. This issue annoys me daily and mainly becuase of the slower internet speeds when the phone is not on 3G.

13458 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is badly at 21 Jan 2011 08:26:26 AM
had so much difficulty sending emails with data/file attachments, it took two days until I went to a store and ask the people there, how they can solve the issue of sending a simple email with just one photo attachment.

the frustrating question from the store staff was, "have you tried several times?". i went beserk and flabbergasted about the arrogance and the tone of her question, having explained to here that it's been two days that i had been trying to.

eventually, she took my iphone unit and did something without explanation whatsoever, and handed it back to me and said, "done"

after all the trouble, i asked for the supervisor. i demanded a simple answer to the store supervisor about the issue on connectivity. she replied, "having merged with "3", "3" customers take precedent on having access to the 3G network and she does not know why?

i just find it really irritating and at the same time hilarious that "we" as customers are just being treated like "kids" and "idiots" about the answers you are getting from them

My sister had a baby and my brother in law couldn't get a hold of me due to vodaphone's reception. He could get a hold of everyone else but me, I ended up finding out 2 hours later then when I tried calling people, after 1 minute the phone would cut out. This happened over 6 times and I can tell you now I have cursed vodaphone for a long time but this was the final straw. Everytime you call up you are on hold for hours and if you go into a vodaphone store they have ques out the door of people complaining. I actually turned 2 tourists away from vodaphone in the CBD as they were waiting for 20 minutes and they asked me what i thought of vodaphone, my exact words were "if i wasn't locked into this contract I wouldn't be with them, go to telstra". My ex fiance has troubles sending me messages, This has happened so many times over the last 2 years i continue to go to vodaphone and telling them something is wrong with my settings, one minute I can receive his messages then next minute I can't. It actually caused us to break up because of mis-communication and it was all because i never got the messages I needed to get off him.

13454 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is No Reception in Hospital at 21 Jan 2011 08:24:20 AM
I was in hospital the whole day yesterday and had no signal in the waiting room. We were at the hospital since 7am and because my phone had no reception my family was all worried about me when I couldn't get a call out or they couldn't contact me. In the end my whole family all left work early after noon to rush down to the hospital to see if I was ok. In the waiting room I noticed everyone else was making and receiving calls fine, I asked them and they were either on Telstra or Optus network, I was the only one on Vodafone and had no services. Not happy!!!

I signed up for vodafone's infinity plan...love my new n8 but the problem is i can't use it all that much...my 3G is really bad at my work...i work in Sydney city and everyone on other networks have full coverage where as my 3G falls back to Edge or no reception at all...i don't get any calls while i am at work...and of course i am not able to use it to access any social sites...and when i have full coverage the call drops out for no reason...it is not good enough!...i mean we are paying for a service that we can't use...it is absolutely appaulling!...vodafone should do something about this really soon or once the contract is up they will see a mass exodus!
21 Jan 2011 09:00:16 AM: If you are not getting service then it is very likely Vodafone is not complying with its obligations under the contract. Go to the Telecommunications Industry Ombudsman 1800 062 058 and try to get released from the contract.

Vodafone's incompetent, lazy and make-things-up-as-they-go but can speak english call centre in India set up when their countryman ran Vodafone, will always be a problem for this telco.

13441 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is im pretty cross at 21 Jan 2011 08:19:13 AM
I have my own home-based business. I do not use a home phone because I took out the $99 unlimited plan for my mobile instead as I am on the phone a lot especially for work. I also don't like to advertise my home number for business, I feel it looks unprofessional. I bought a sim card first to try with my phone to make sure that the coverage was good. It was better coverage than Optus but I still have drop out regularly but I had previously had an optus plan and the reception in my home was appalling!(this is why I double checked with the sim before signing up!)
My complaint is with voicemail and text messages. I have NEVER had delays such as with this company. It can be up to 4 days before I receive a message which often means that I miss out on a job if I can't get to my phone on time or if it's a blocked call. (which is often the case as I deal with large companys regularly who sometimes have private numbers.)
I am so frustrated as the phone is 1 of the main tools I use in my business,
and it would be a great load off my mind and possibly into my purse if I could use my phone properly! if something can be done about this it would make running my business so much easier and my life a lot less stressful!

In an area where I have line of sight to two mobile phone towers and still experience drop outs, failed calls, intermittent and delayed messaging, and VERY slow 3G speeds all in an area vodafone says has great coverage (Suburban Adelaide).
I got the iPhone 3GS on the $69 cap thinking it was a great deal, It would have been better to pay an extra $10 a month to go with Telstra. The Telstra advert highlighting the young couple both using 3G on their phones and one having superior coverage sums up my experiences with Vodafone.
Now my phone has gone to my wife, since work has given me a new one, I am worried if she is in an emergency (i.e. Asthma attack) she won't be able to call for help even in a METRO area!
I have 12 months left on my contract and desperately need to bail to another carrier.
Have I got my $69 worth of value? No. Slow 3G speeds = cannot use my 1GB cap, and intermittent signal = cannot use my $450 worth of calls. Voda definitely fails!

I call Vodafone's "customer care" and Lara puts me through to the area that can help me, I wait in a queue, most times for anywhere between 30mins to 1 hour before my call is answered, only to be told that they can't help me as I have come through to the wrong area and they transfer me to another area, which means I have to wait another hour for my call to be answered. Vodafone, your "customer care" is rated 0/10 by me. You have no idead how to treat your customers properly and your network is third rate.

after promising coverage at my girlfriends house in Freeing within 3 months... we are 1 year later and still no improvement. there is no signal there at all. Their promises were the reason we both signed up (and that we could get free calls to each other).

After a lot of pressure they released my girlfriend from her contract because of the lack of coverage and she paid out $100 for the phone which she was happy to do. They refuse to release me because even though i made it clear when getting the phone that i would be up at her house a lot of the time (2-3 days a week) i didnt put her address on the form i put my address because SHOCK HORROR THATS WHERE I LIVE!!!!!!

They refuse to let me out of the contract because i didnt list her address even though vodafone misrepresented what they were telling me when i signed up.(on a side note they also lied to my dad about coverage when he signed up 6 business phones with them).

The guy on the phone said "if i go to the shop, find the person who said this to me then call back and get them to admit that they lied to me when i signed up, then i could be released from the contract" WTF!!!!!!

Anyway, added to that i am now on my 3rd iphone because of signal loss and dropped calls which were blamed on the phone, i spent a month paying for the phone and data package for the iphone whist using some crappy basic nokia without internet on it. It was quite obviously a problem with the network not the phone.

Anyway the ombudsman said i have a case and is now investigating.

My husband purchased a phone (from Officeworks) which was locked to vodaphone even though the salesperson assured him it could be used with other networks. The only option then was to pay the $50 to unlock it. Unfortunately the instructions did not work. I then called vodaphone and was on hold for 1hr 40mins to an overseas call centre. When I finally got an operator she was of no help - all she had to do was to walk me through the instructions to see if it would work but reading from a set call centre script will never give you high levels of customer service. She asked how many times I had tried to enter the code (twice) and then said possibly that was too many times and I would then need to send my phone to Nokia to have it unlocked. After much patience and perserverance on my part I was able to obtain additional instructions from her and the phone has been unlocked. Had I not perservered I would have been left with a useless Christmas present. Given my experience with Vodaphone I would never consider using their network or services.

I have been with vodafone for as long as i can remember, a loyal customer. Starting from prepaid and only a few weeks ago changed to plan. I have spoken to vodafone a million times regarding my phone call drop outs, bad 3G coverage, poor reception, alien voices and was advised by vodafone staff that there is nothinhg wrong with there system. They advised me to get a new sim card. I did, 3 and after a few days the problem would just reoccur. I was then advised that the reception and value are in plans, so i decided to go on plan. Big mistake. After paying my first bill that was more then what is should be, my phone was blocked of all ingoing and outgoing calls mind you i was on holidays. When i called again Lara could not understand me. Which frustrated me and i became so pissed off and stressed that i just hung up, i couldnt stop thinking about it and in short it stuffed my holiday. I work in retail. my clients pay me for a service and i will try to assist them to the best i possibly can. Vodafone, maybe you should start caring about your clients and show us that you care and make us feel valued, without us there will be no vodafone, listen to your clients, if there is a problem, call, email, sms and advise, keep us updated. its frustrating spending hours on end trying to talk to someone and not feeling the customer service that i and every other customer deserve.

Thank you

Can't wait until my plan ends so I can move. Vodafone was good a few years ago. Not sure why they have fallen so fast to being a very ordinary company. My issues are with internet coverage, sometimes can't even access it in Sydney CBD & also with voicemail messages. They seem to take about 30 minutes to get to my phone. That is just pathetic & luckily nothing has been important as yet.
Also trying to get through to the call centre is a nightmare. And when you do, it is unlikely that they can solve the problem anyway & there always seems to be a language barrier.
Hopefully all these complaints will lead to a massive improvement.

13415 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Competence vs Greed at 21 Jan 2011 08:08:02 AM
I have been a Vodafone AU customer for over 2.5 yrs...

Generally, I would rate their overall performance as limited to poor...

Initially I had issues with 3G USB modem (provided by VF) connectivity, which would successfully establish a connection to the local tower, but then not forwarding any traffic (unable to ping VF DNS or WWW IP's) beyond the gateway (but was still able to ping the 3G gateway address)...

Logged an ongoing fault (problem) with VF (got (Ciaro of all places) which got followed up initially with a call but then several mths later, once again with a call requesting authority to close the job..?? (No resolution and no info even suggesting VF understood the issue)

I find the 3G voice network also randomly drops calls in the Brisbane CBD distrcit, most often when I am busy and least need it..!!

Generally my "gut" feel on Vodafone is that they have the potential and competence to run a high-end reliable network, but the level oversubscription model employed across their infrastructure platforms for voice and data is less than acceptable...

The underlying cause of this I strongly believe to be the VF business model...
VF AU (perhaps internationally) runs on the premise of an enormous debt facility, so the business model essentially pushes the capability boundaries of the underlying infrastructure (+ traffic engineering QoS/Tos) models) to ensure maximum revenue streams support this debt facility, thus providing end-users of the consolidated network services a poor, unreliable quality of technical service alongside a complete disregard for the supporting services, again, the employment of automated IVR systems etc to minimise staffing overheads, why, again to reduce the debt facility....

At the end of the day, I think VF actually can competently provide the services they claim to sell, but they need to investigate their underlying business models and the underlying technical infrastructure to find a "happy medium" that allows them to support the debt facility they require to offer services (which may need to be reduced) while providing consumers of the services a reliable and satisfactory level of service...

I am an ICT Analyst with aN Network Engineering background in Telecommunications and would be happy to work with the executives at VF to investigate and analyse the current VF business metrics and identify strategies to return VF Service Consumption into an uplifting experince for their consumer base..!!!

My name is Morgen Lofting and can be contacted on www.likedin.com.au...

Have a great day...

Since Nov 2009 I have had steadily declining coverage areas; missed calls (with no handset notification); Voicemails left (with no handset notification); documented reports of phone ringing out or having an engaged signel (when I have Voicemail enabled). Upgraded handset on contract at Voda's suggestion fo ease the issue. Did not work and had steadily decreased in QoS. This has led to loss of employment opportunities, loss of business, loss of financial services (loan and credit) - and subsequent potential legal action, aggravation, stress, etc... Voda has only now offered to cease the contact and have me return the handset (which I replaced at their insistence).
21 Jan 2011 10:24:09 AM: I have had almost the same experience. I changed my handset onto a iPhone on contract at the insistence of Tech Support because they said that the problems were with my handset, or SIM, I have changed the SIM 3 times and the handset twice (finally to the iPhone). Since then coverage has declined and service has gotten worse, The ONLY 'Fair and Reasonable' solution offered by the company is to get out of the contract (after getting the Ombudsman involved). Nothing about having to now buy a new phone if I return this one. The amount of grief and trouble the company is giving is astronomical. I don't know why the Dept of Fair Trading just don't banish them offshore.

Been with Vodafone for 7+ years, Live in the North West of Melbourne, Was an Optus customer due to poor reception i moved to Vodafone, at one stage Vodafones services were great. Last 6-12 months i have had nothing but constant reception issues. 3G hardly works at all, and most often then not signal reverts to the standard NON 3G signal. Travel anywhere west of Melbourne and your phone basically drops out every 5 minutes as you move from Footscray through to Sunbury. At best i get 2-3 bars signal. AND NO VODA IT IS NOT MY PHONE OR MY SIM OR PHONE SOFTWARE!!!

As if this was not bad enough, recently every bill i have received via SMS has been incorrect and does not at all display the detail on the Vodafone website once logged in. Their systems seem to be all screwed up and i always have to call customer care just to try to resolve my bill queries.

Don't even get me started on the customer care line. 1hr wait is standard. Most times i have to wait an hr, then get transferred, then disconnected, have to call again, wait another hour. This is simply ridiculous and cannot continue. I am contracted till June, but i am extremely close to canceling my contract and moving to another provider. VODAFAIL - FOR SURE!

I called Vodaphone from overseas and they still said it should be working and told me there is something wrong with my phone. They were not able to fix it and I was without phone in whole trip.

I had to borrow mobile from relative to keep me going which was inconvenience to relative and me.

13390 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Worst network i've ever used at 21 Jan 2011 08:00:35 AM
I live in Auburn, NSW. I moved to vodafone from 3 because my wife wanted an iPhone and it wasn't in stock with 3, when i was signing the contract i was told that the Vodafone network s better then 3 and in 2011 the network will merge and will be much more better, to my excitement and frustration so far nothing has happened. In the past 3 months i've been with vodafone i've had hardly any coverage and wife goes cranky on me all the time complaining about the nerwork and i get pissed as well cause everytime i call her, the call never goes through.... i am more than happy to send the stupid iphone back to Vodafone and get out of the contract....

13389 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is lets not go there! at 21 Jan 2011 08:00:27 AM
I have a loyal Vodafone customer for many years (when they cool, funky and progressive!). Over the three months it has been disappointing to see Vodafone customer care quality service going downhill (once upon a time, Vodafone were great with customer service with people who actually did cared!). I have had problems like most who have experienced dropped calls, lack of reception in areas that once had full reception and receiving texts late (or never!), or lack of mobile internet coverage (I seem to be on "E" most of the time). The biggest disappointment, however, is the incorrect billing of phone calls and the adding extra charges out of thin air! This has happened to me twice already and it is really annoying and frustrating. I depend on my phone for business and it would be great if Vodafone came back to their grassroots and be the awesome telco that you wanted to deal with. Somehow, it seems to be only a distant memory...

13388 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 90% at 21 Jan 2011 08:00:16 AM
I'm seriously ill so I'm home a lot and have zero coverage about 90% of the time. When I went interstate for treatment I couldn't call home from my mobile because I got a message from Optus saying my home phone was disconnected???? Some text messages take 3-4 days to be received. I have complained and was told it was my handset or my sim card as I can't afford to replace either I am just waiting for my contract to end so I can get away from Vodafone. Let's not mention the constant billing stuff ups and of course they were all in Vodafone's favour too including billing for things I never even asked for like internet access for my 80 year old father who can't even figure out an ATM.

13387 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Want to cancel contract but told it will cost $300 to do so at 21 Jan 2011 08:00:06 AM
21 Jan 2011 08:36:14 AM: The fact that other people use phones with other providers in the same area would suggest that it is a coverage problem. However, if it is a handset issue then the telco isn't responsible for it's manufacture and therefore it's the manufacturers problem (E.g a certain popular smartphone has reception issues). The contract is largely based on paying for the handset and after 6 months of usage, it's your handset and therefore you should pay for it. You could also pay for the phone and exit to another service provider. To claim your money back is the equivalent of buying a car, driving it around for 6 months and then expecting your money back because the road you're driving on is potholed. The service you mention is the Voda network and reception and suggest your focus on that with your complaints.

13382 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is megga fail at 21 Jan 2011 07:58:34 AM
I can not make calls, when I finally do my reception cuts out, Every time people call it gos to vooicemail without ringing, I called up to complain waited on hold for 50 mins till my phone cut out, called again got through to someone and they put me on silent hold for 40 mins, thats when I realised they had forgot about me finally got to talk to someone and they put my account on investigation for me, 3 days later got an sms from vodaphone telling me to call them I waited on hold for 40 mins, when the opperator picked up she told me the department that needed me was closed, but she would call me back the next day, she didnt call me back so I called back only waited 20mins, not to bad considering, and all it was about was telling me that they had started the investigation, 20 mins later I got another message telling me to call them, I so dont think so they can get stuffed!

13381 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Drop calls at 21 Jan 2011 07:58:21 AM
Not sure if you are including Three in the VHA fiasco but since we were lured from Vodafone to Three 18 months ago we have had so many areas where there is now no coverage in Sydney mind you but whats worse is that every second call just drops out and sometimes several times during one conversation
they are doing well out of the flag fall each time arent they?

Soon as my contract is up I am switching and have had 10 stress less years with vodafone now three is just the pits

13380 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is MASSIVE FAIL at 21 Jan 2011 07:57:58 AM
I signed up for a 2 year contract for internet coverage to assist with my PhD and its just rubbish. It take about 15 minutes to warm up and then to load any page with a few images I can be waiting for up to 20/30 minutes. Forget youtube etc, that just wont open. My field is art history so I need to look up images - and I cant afford to get out of this useless contract. I am so ANGRY. What can I do??!
