Dear visitor,

Since its inception Vodafail.com has made a significant contribution towards raising awareness of the problems and issues faced by Vodafone customers.

Vodafone Australia customers have had the opportunity to voice their concerns, their fears and their troubles from every corner of Australia and beyond our borders. You have gathered the courage to stand up for your rights as consumers and to make your voice heard.

Each and every person who shared their story should have a sense of pride in this achievement and the changes that have occurred since the start of Vodafail.com.

More recently, traffic to Vodafail.com has declined significantly. Having achieved the goal of raising awareness and promoting concrete action in early 2011, we have now reached the point of closing Vodafail to new complaints. The site will remain online for as long as possible as a reminder and an example of what is possible when we share our experiences.

It has been a privilege to run this initiative and I'm am forever grateful for the help and support I've received. In particular I would like to thank Melissa, David and Travis for their continued efforts over the past 15 months. I'm also thankful and humbled by the support of ACCAN, Choice magazine and a wide range of media outlets, blogs and websites.

You can still browse existing stories and find out how to file a complaint if you are experiencing problems.

Until next time,

Adam Brimo

18120 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is Very at 24 May 2011 11:08:15 PM
Since the last 2 months I have been facing mobile broadband speed issues. Repeated calls for tech support hasn't changed anything. They said it's a network issue so what are they doing about it? NOTHING... The speed doesn't even exceed 10 kbps at times where the stupid modem shows it's got full network coverage and excellent connection. I am sick of this..Every month they don't hesitate to charge me money for this though...Great going vodafone.. I'm stuck with you for so many months more... :(:(:(:(
25 May 2011 08:20:56 AM: Why suffer the pain any longer?

You have tried to resolve the issue and have appeared to be unsuccessful, the next step is the TIO, takes about 10 minutes max to complete their on line form.

The TIO details found on the How To Complain tab at the top of the page.

Vodafone has caused me nothing but problems, it constantly cuts out, rarely get coverage and is very slow. Recently they have charge me near to $2k for excess use of internet. Most of the usage was over the long weekend when I had no service at all! Showing blocks of 7-8 hours of usage consistently, even when im sleeping im apparently surfing and downloading. Not happy. Then they offered me 50% reduction on my $2k bill for a month!

Broadband modem service in East Melbourne is unuseable. DNS response timing out over 999ms and the network analyser giving up. %Packets lost exceeding 50% consistently up to total failure ! Literally screaming at the USB modem !!!
Want my service cancelled and my money refunded.
To top it all off, they shut off the customer support??(Oh I hate Lara) line after 20:00
VODAFAILS !
24 May 2011 09:15:38 PM: PS, forgot to mention of course the billing errors on the service, another issue as well. Sigh. VODAFAILs again. Think I had just better walk away and give up on this company. Shame Vodafail, shame!

18105 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is turning iPhones into iPods EVERYWHERE at 24 May 2011 11:50:51 AM
18104 has prompted my memory and hence to alert everyone to a kind of work around....

So, the situation....Looks like you have reception, but can't make a call. It just keeps saying call failed after about 30s-1min

Then, call 1555....wait for Lara to tell me that they have a fantastic call recording service, and it still works well.....
Hang up in her ear, bleating expletives.......

Then, make your call and it goes through.......!

So if I was an out of control conspiracy theorist, I would be assuming all sorts of machinations of electronic decisions being made about if a phone can get through or not and it being decided that... because I wanted to call customer dis-service that I should be let through, but if I wanted to say....call my mother in hospital, then I cannot get through.

Lara has a direct line to Jimmy Baker it would seem.

I hope that someone somewhere uses this workaround to their advantage, say....when you've just had a leg ripped off by a tiger in Wagga Wagga and need an Ambulance. Sure, tigers aren't native to Wagga Wagga, but there's more chance of one singing Puff the Magic dragon in the main street than making a call with my iPod3GS.

Regards

18104 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Super-fail at 24 May 2011 08:13:26 AM
If, for reason of outstanding balance (as little as a week), Voda decide to disable my service, I notice the following;

- My phone actually continues to operate normally as if nothing happened /provided/ I do not switch off/on or otherwise reboot the phone. I have successfully sent/received calls and SMS during at least one period recently when I know that a linked service on another SIM was disabled.

If Vodafone in their infinite wisdom, a wisdom that knows no bounds, decide to re-enable my service (given that I AM a long-standing customer who has never failed to clear all debt within days of realising my dilemma), I then notice the following;

- Dependent on the state of the previous cosmic phenomena, my phone may -appear- normally registered to the network when in fact; it does not receive incoming calls, does not receive incoming SMS/MMS, does not allow sending of SMS and.. and.. wait for it, does not allow outgoing calls but provides NO indication whatsoever as to there being a local issue, with the remote number dialled just returning an engaged tone or similar.

Being ignorant of any problem, I have then gone for /weeks/ without important communication. Contacts are abhored at the fact that I have not replied to important SMS and that my number is unavailable for long periods of time.

Would Voda care ? I'm willing to guess.. not.

18102 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is turning iPhones into iPods EVERYWHERE at 23 May 2011 09:52:51 PM
So how could this reception issue impact heavily in a life and death situation ?

How could a mobile phone be such a vital life dependent link ?

OK.... well...I am 44 yo man, currently looking after a friends 9yo daughter, while the mother is at the hospital helping her friend give birth to her first child.

I have just found that the home phone here is a rechargeable out of charge.
It looks old, but it isn't taking money from anyone while not actually working. And there is a couple of broken toys here that, although broken, are not taking a hundred bucks a month while defunct.

So here I am, unable to contact anyone. I should be able to trust that my money each month is going to help me in a tight spot. Or are we too reliant on these devices ?

I guess I just have to sit tight and hope that I do not need urgent medical help.

Thanks Vodafone....

PS. Well, at least the internet works and I can bitch about Vodafone....
By the way, the internet is NOT with sloDafone, ie. you are reading this...

18100 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is brain disabled at Vodafone at 23 May 2011 08:25:21 PM
sales guy from Vodafone called, offered complimentary upgrade to quad band usb modem. Said it will dramatically improve speed in central melbourne as they have new 850 network.
recived and tested new modem - same speed of around 1mbps. Asked the same sales guy to organise the return of the supplied modem.

This brain disabled person cancelled all mobile broadband I had including the old one that we had no intention to canccel.

When calling vodafone support guy tells me that I called and requested the cancellation which is of course not the case.

HOW CAN THESE PEOPLE CAN BE SO BRAINLESS?!!!

I have been experiencing coverage issues for about 6 months now, not happy. I thought I would wait it out; thinking Vodaphone would surely fix the issue promptly, but now I've had enough. Not only do I have issues with network coverage - I am now not receiving my voicemails until 5-10 days after they've been left. My data speed is also crap... And to top it all off my handset's battery now seem's to have died - getting less than 5 hours life on full charge.

Have been trying to get in touch with vodaphone to get information on where I stand contract wise. Can someone please let me know what the go has been in relation to getting out of contracts early given this extreme breakdown in their service offering?

Any recommendations for Australian plans and networks to change to? I want to get an iPhone 4 contract...

Help would be great.

Cheers,
N

18098 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Total ripoff at 23 May 2011 04:49:38 PM
I bought the Vodafone pocket wifi after the guy at the Vodafone store told me it would work better than the mobile broadband usb stick which I had and gave me such poor coverage.

Turns out he lied...the pocket wifi is even worse than the usb stick and I get little or no coverage at all now.

I went back to the store and told him and he said it was too bad as I had signed up to a plan.

Seems like they'll tell you anything to get a sale then they don't want to know you after that.

18096 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is 15 years of service, is now sour. at 23 May 2011 02:17:14 PM
After 15 years with vodafone, they have failed me. It's like a sour marriage now.
Finally got out of my contract, without any EXIT FEES! (had 14 out of 24months to go)as they can no longer provide a phone and network that actually works.
Week in week out, the same petty excuses, 'we will replace the phone, upgrade you to a better plan, give you free credits' etc, etc (just like a cheating partner), couldn't take it any longer, I had to leave them.
Poor service in Mackay, calls drop out, you know all the usual stuff.
VODAFAIL WILL NOT IMPROVE THEIR SERVICE IN THE BIG CITIES, what hope do we all have in regional areas?? None. Time to go to another provider. Thanks
23 May 2011 09:37:28 PM: I live in brisbane and they cant provide me service either! By the way, love the way you described your troubles!

18095 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Been 4 days and phone still not active at 23 May 2011 09:17:54 AM
Hi, Im originally a 3 mobile customer who after a year of bad network coverage and roaming charges in Sydney CBD I decided to cancel my contract with 3. When I spoke to the customer care team they convinced me to switch to vodaphone where I will get a better service and better coverage. All I have to do is await a new sim card and call vodaphone to activate it. Few days later I received vodaphone sim and I called them after pressing to many buttons to get to a real person who advised me it will take 24 hours, next day phone doesnt work, called back and they say another few hours, still phone doesnt work. called again the 3rd day and was told 24 hours. How could this people lie to customers and arent this conversations recorded. Its been 4 days since then and my phone still has no service, my family and friends can not contact me and everytime I voice my anger with vodaphone customer service they suck me in with compensation like 1 month free service. Now im on 3 month free service as compensation but whats the point as I still can not use my phone and not even a customer of vodaphone as yet. I have tried to cancel my contract with them and they are not listening to me and kept trying to suck me in. Im really frustrated and angry right now and wonder if there is an ombudsman who can help me with it.
23 May 2011 10:03:31 AM: Yes there is an ombudsman that can help, details found at the top of the page on the How To Complain tab.

Takes about 10 minutes to complete their on line form, Vodafail then have 10 working days to come to a mutually agreed resolution.

Good Luck.

Constant dropped calls every day and disgusting reception problems, claim to have 3-4 bars at home but dropped calls on a regular basis? Lies...
Called up to complain and was later informed that they were doing upgrades at my area... Why the fudge did they not inform me earlier!? Annoyed the hell out of me!!
Will try and terminate my contract today...

Oh btw... They also sent me a dud iPhone 4 first and had to wait 2 weeks for another one while my contract was activated... Bull..

18090 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Totally buggered up at 22 May 2011 08:28:32 PM
I use my phone to make a few calls, and I check the weather occasionally - most people's grandma's would use more data than me.... imagine my surprise when I got a $1400 excess data bill. As most of you seem to know, their data network is totally crap - I actually purchased a telstra dongle three months so I could read email. So I rang the 1555 BS line and got some clown who advised me my push data was sending me over the limit. I explained to him I was not a nutbag; there is no way I am going to use 2GB of data in ONE DAY over there absolutely crap data network.... he was not buying, so I lost it. I have put up with a crap data connection for 12 months (half way through the 24 months contract)... I am really time poor, so I put up with it, with some help from (my now great friends) Telstra. Today blew my mind - this guy treated me like an imbecile.... the offered a $100 discount (ie go away and let's forget about it all). I went and logged with TIO.... these idiots can GO AND GET STUFFED!

18087 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is I'm Gone!! at 22 May 2011 08:17:06 PM
After tolerating atrocious coverage/reception with Vodafone for 2 years since I moved to my new home in a Brisbane southwestern suburb I now find their new voicemail system isn't working properly either. I spent nearly 3 hours on the phone to them on 4 separate calls last weekend and its not fixed...and another 4 hours on 4 or 5 calls this weekend.
Now I am told the coverage issue isn't going to be fixed in my area either....no work is planned.
So, sorry Vodafone....but chase me for my $$$. I'm off to the local Telstra and Optus stores on Monday to see who can give me the best deal. Vodafone can take a flying f#*k. I'm gone...and I suspect a large chuck of their new clients will be pulling out too when they realise what a mistake they've made by hooking up with Vodafone.

18084 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Coverage is awful at 22 May 2011 08:10:26 PM
I live in a built-up suburb 16.5kms from teh Brisbane CBD and can only get what Voda describe as "Outdoor coverage"....which means they don;t guarantee reception inside.
As I run a business I find this pretty unacceptable. This wasn't disclosed when we signed up on their plans of course.
They have offered credits on my account to appease me but what I'd really like them to do is bloody fix the problem...and they tell me there are no planned upgrades for my area at this time. Fan...bloody....tastic!! Tossers!
I cannot believe the arrogance of the top echelon at Voda Australia with an attitude like that. They have the money to upgrade their voicemail platform (which as far as I'm concerned was working perfectly and now is completely stuffed) while they ignore reception and coverage issues. I hope the board of directors sack the lot of them and get a management team who really know how to deliver service and quality.
Interestingly, sometimes I have 4 aerial bars (full reception) on my phone then it drops off to one or two (or none) within a couple of minutes even though I haven't moved. Its like the signal is wavering everywhere. My poor neighbour is seen discussing hois business with the world while he sits on his front fence in order to get reception....Yep, he;s with Voda too....Bloody unbelieveable!

18081 Someone from ACT thinks vodafone is very fail!!!! at 22 May 2011 06:51:49 PM
I have been a Vodafone customer for six years, given them countless customers from refering people and have spent a lot of money on Vodafone services. For the past six months I have recieved AWFUL coverage, days without the use of my phone and messages that never send. Every call cuts out AT LEAST twice. So, I email Vodafone asking if either a) they can fix the problem or b) compensate me for such terrible service. Vodafone's response was that I should change to another network provider as they were not going to fix the problem and wish not to compensate. For six years I have been paying them and THIS is the help I get. I get told to go away. It is infuriating that they can get away with it!

I used to be with the 3 network and my mobile phone reception was good enough to not have to use my landline. Since Vodaphone takeover I have 5% reception if i am lucky, my landline costs have increased and I continue to be billed for calls and mobile internet (which is free if used in a 3G reception area, but in my area it does not exist). Nearby areas are roamimng areas which I have to pay 55c/mb. Not Happy!!!

18073 Someone from Somewhere else thinks vodafone is Irritatingly failed at 22 May 2011 09:55:51 AM
My complaint about Vodafail is about the number of security checks they have. I have had one instance when the woman was so concerned with knowing my passord, my mother's maiden name and a host of other security questions that she credited whatever amount it was to my cellphone and not to where I wanted it to go to, namely the Vodem. Of course this created untold hassle for me when I desperately needed to get onto the net from a remote location, couldn't because I didn't have enough credit on the Vodem, couldn't use my cellphone as there is next to no Vodafone coverage at Clark's Beach and so couldn't find out what had gone and where my credit had gone to. I ended up driving for an hour back into the city where I was able to use a landline to phone Vodafail, wait, wait, wait, piped music before someone answered, and finally, a clever man had a look, realised what the woman had done and the problem was solved but not until I'd spent $X on petrol to get back into the city. No apology was ever offered for my inconvenience.

18072 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Once again, failed at 22 May 2011 12:34:29 AM
I previously posted of my experiences since late November, when all went so horribly wrong. Prior to this I was enjoying mobile broadband of at least 1.5Mbps, which I was more than comfortable with. Anyway, I noticed problems starting before I left to go overseas for nearly two months. Got back, same annoyances. Roll on 3 months, still the same level of failure. I contacted the ombudsman, they contacted Vodafail who contacted me saying that I had been released from my 24 month contract as requested and that I could have my last month's regular charge of $39.99 gratis. In the last week, tired of waiting for the supposed upgrade of their network to materialise, I decided to end it all. With vodafail. Called em up and got through to the cancellations department. Had quite a bit of fun with the call centre bod who seemed to be willing to offer up her first born should I choose to stay on... $10 of your bill, no contract, free Mega modem, mo delivery charge...and so it went. I settled that it couldn't hurt for her to send me a new MEGA modem. Received the modem, was getting a lift home from outside Penrith in Sydney's west and... yes! i was getting 3Mbps. Couldn't believe my eyes. So how bloody disappointing was it to get back to my apartment in Chippendale in the CENTRE of Sydney to resume my post November 2010 service of a mighty...0.08Mbps. Yes, you read it right-one fiftieth of the signal strength I was expecting. Absolutely pathetic, Vodafail. Shame on you and all your empty promises.

18064 Someone from WA thinks vodafone is only good use: This is the phone you give your toddler to play with, doesnt matter if they make a call it WONT work!!! at 21 May 2011 12:13:11 AM
Call after call made to Vodafone for help as the website said i have coverage yet i was getting none, time after time it was something wrong on my end: the SIM card is too old, so i replace it, the phone must be faulty so i buy a new one, doesn't work, so they tell me it must still be the phone, i inform them it is a BRAND NEW Vodafone phone (which then proceeded to freeze and not work sent it away to get fixed comes back worse), i assure them it has VODAFONE written on the damn thing, They then tell me it needs turning off and then turning back on, so i do this repeatedly - nothing. SMS's not going through or when they did it was in the dead of night, I get informed that there has always been service for my location and i need to recheck the internet and make sure i know where i am located(my locations spanded 2 towns i might add, from my house to my work NILL coverage at all, and yeah i think i know where i am located)
This went on for 3 years, the last straw during a call while expressing my frustration with the person assuring me the problem is on my end not theirs they hung up on me! In the end the decision to change phone providers was an easy one when A) i couldnt call emergency services when there was a fire in the middle of summer, location of the fire: next to a gas pipe line and B) When a car slammed head on doing 100km an hour into a Truck, luckily there were others there with RELIABLE providers. As much as i hate hate hate Telstra at least i know that i can make calls that could save a life. Do yourself a favor DO NOT GO WITH VODAFONE NO MATTER HOW GOOD THEY MAKE IT SOUND, YOU WILL BE SORRY.

Bought a Vodafail mobile broadband stick from Woolies after checking online that I'd get coverage at my house. Not a single bar of coverage. Went into Vodafail and apparently (according to them) the three houses in a row where my house is don't get any coverage, but the rest of my street does which is why their website says I'm covered. Huh???? Then had to try to return useless stick to Woolies and listen to how wonderful and gracious they were that they were so kind as to refund my money even though they didn't have to. I think they expected me to be grateful.

18059 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is They S.H.I.T. me at 20 May 2011 04:23:08 PM
I made the big mistake of signing up on a 24 month plan with a new iPhone 4 last week at the Miranda NSW store, 2 hours later as I was driving our of Sydney for a week away the front facing camera stopped working. Wednesday night i called India on 1555 they told me I could take the phone into the store and they would swap it, I went there on Thursday morning they were closed, I couldnt call the store direct as the phone was not being answered. I went into the store again today and they refused to swap my phone, i called my new friend in India again 1555. Steve (the indian) told me to take the phone to Parramatta and they would swap it, I arrive at Parramatta, no they wont swap it. I again call my BFF in India, this time I get a female, she tells me to take it to Blacktown, I go to Blacktown they wont do it either. So at this point in time Ive travelled from one side of Sydney to the other and the only thing Ive achieved is high blood pressure, low battery on the new one camera iPhone 4, wasted 4 hours of my life that I will never get back, and used half a tank of fuel and $5 for Parking. I leave Blacktown and receive a call from India, telling me to go back to Blacktown as they will speak with them again and have the phone replaced, nope they wont do it again. So now I call the Chatswood office, after 10 minutes I get the receptionist who takes my details and will get someone to call me back, 4pm today an Aussie from Tasmania calls me, still wont swap my phone. SCREW YOU VODAFONE YOU SHIT ME TO TEARS.

No I have to make a Genius Bar appointment in the Sydney Apple store, I know they will sort this out.

Lesson learnt today, only buy directly from Apple and Screw Vodafone.
20 May 2011 10:49:49 PM: I thought that all phones were on a 30 day return if they are Dead on Arrival (DOA), as your phone is not fit for purpose surely it fits into the DOA criteria?

Also mysterious that your BFF and others at Vodafail have advised you to return to (several) stores for a replacement yet the stores refuse, perhaps an illustration of great Vodafail teamwork, team dynamics and team organisation.

Suggest off to the TIO for you, details found at the top of the page on the How To Complain tab.

Suggest you do it sooner and not later.

22 May 2011 09:49:02 PM: There's a 28 day swap period, however with all iPhones they must first go back to Apple to be assessed. The swap is then generally authorised within 2-3 days.

I have not been able to get a vodafone network signal all morning, and called the Customer Care (INDA), and told me there is no issue with the network, and it had to be my mobile phone. I have tried 3 different mobile handsets and get the same issue. The phone and signal were at 3G full strength last night, however today none (only get SOS), and the other explaination, there is NO 3G service in my area. mmmmm, what part do they do not understand, had no problem for the last 12 months from the same area, and specifically last night.
At witts end with Vodafone, seriously thinking of moving to the forbiden service of Telstra :(

I have a usb broadband account with VodaFone and it is the most frustrating piece of "technology" I have ever plugged in to my pc. Its speed is at dial up rate but also lacks stability. Why would you sell more devices than you network can accomodate. Absolute waste of money, like buying a car in Venice or a boat in Alice Springs USELESS.

18047 Someone from TAS thinks vodafone is Automatic Recharge at 19 May 2011 05:46:16 PM
If you set up an automatic recharge you expect it to do exactly that. I even went into my online account to re-setup the automatic recharge. Vodafone said it would be processed within 30 mins... a couple of hours later I am still waiting. I then had to do a credit card recharge as I had some urgent calls to make which was not very convenient. I have also been disappointed with my reception and the fact I seem to missing out on messages that have apparently been sent to me.

The other day I recieved a voice message from vodafone - only it was so faint and crackly I couldn't understand much, then it dropped out. I rang back to find it was the network coverage team ringing to tell me that there were no coverage problems at all and they didn't understand my complaints! Kind of a black comedy.

After being on hold for 40mins i finally find out my internet is going a 88kpbs for a 512k download. this is 98% lower that the average. How can they potentially sell a product that barely works in middle of a city let alone if u left the cbd. poor advertising to even sell it to me.

reading all the posts here and you are all in the same boat as me. I have all the symptoms you describe. It concerns me that you ring up to cancel and they wont let you. I told them my reception was now almost non existed and had deteriorated in last few months and they ended my contract without cost to me. I cant see why you all cant do the same. Speaking to staff at a store, they told me to stress to the customer service people on 1555 that the coverage HAS GOT WORSE IN LAST FEW MONTHS.

I am now back on testra after a 10 year hiatus and can i say not only is it cheaper (something i thought id never see) than anyone else, it is also fantastic coverage.

Constant drop off while making phone calls is an everyday reality. I suspect that I now may have a new issues with Vodafone where my phone battery starts to drop off very quickly (we're talking 1/2 a day without any phone use) and based on my conversation with Apple Store, it maybe due to the poor 3G coverage by Vodafode causing the phone to constantly searching for a signal.

I am wondering if anyone with iPhone is in the same predicament???

Same as everyone, Calls drop out, Delayed voicemails, Dont even receieve texts from people alot of the time and worst of all SLOWEST POSSIBLE INTERNET AND NEVER HAVE RECEPTION!!!
I went into a shop after numerous complaints over the phone not getting me anywhere, So they tell me its the sim I have in my phone that is the reason for my extremely low reception (I LIVE IN THE CITY PRETTY MUCH - RECEPTION MOSTLY 1 OR 2 BARS IF IM LUCKY) anyhow, they replace my sim and I get full reception for about 2 weeks and then no doubt after that its back to its usual 1 or 2 bars, I'm pretty much to the point where I am under the impression that I will suffer from these issues for the rest of my contract, This website has made me realize otherwise.

Ok, so I was on the phone to vodafone for over an hour today.

Although where I live now, I do get reception.. But my phone tends to cut out a lot, I lose service quickly.. But I can turn my phone off and on and it's back.. Which is annoying but manageable.

I'm moving to a new suburb. I don't get ANY reception at all. Today on the phone, the man was nice enough to give me 3 months of free billing.. While they "investigate" the no service crap. So.. Rather then cancelling my contract.. They make me stay with them for 3 extra months while I don't have service? How does that work? I'm annoyed and sick of not getting answers. WTF!

18013 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is IN NEED OF CALL CENTRE PEOPLE THAT CAN SPEAK ENGLISH at 17 May 2011 03:51:56 PM
so i've been with 3 for 2 years now. just last week i signed a new contract with vodafail (which i really shouldnt've done) because they were the only telco that had the phone that i want (HTC Desire Z). the guy that i was signing up with was really nice, and he said that i will definetly receive the phone within 1-3 working days. so now its been like 6 working days and i still havent received it, so i just called them up now. i had to call 8 times, because they kept hanging up on me (it wasnt my reception, i had full bars and it said 3G+) so i finally got through to this indian man that clearly didnt know how to speak english. and i was trying to speak to him for like 30 minutes, so i had to use google translate to speak to him (pretty funny yeah?). so he finally said that i should recieve my phone in 3 weeks. then i started saying (loudly) WEEKS?! THE OTHER GUY SAID DAYS! then he quickly hang up on me. grhh. im so angry.

They informed me that there was nothing they could do for me except change my plan from a $79 cap to a $49 dollar cap!!! So in other words I will still be paying them $49 each month for nothing!! they said its not a question of what is fair or not but that is all they can do. Yet another failure from vodafone!!! Just another example of their customers being charged for a service they can never use.

18009 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is ruined holiday at 17 May 2011 02:38:56 PM
I just wanted to relate our experience when holidaying in Tasmania for 10 days in Feb 2010. We had planned a trip travelling around Tasmania starting down in Port Arthur and travelling in a clockwise direction visiting Hobart, Strahan, Cradle Mountain, Tamar Valley, Launceston (Country club), Bridport and Bicheno. When planning the holiday, the contact number I had given for all our accomodation was my Vodafone mobile number. We also had our laptop with Vodafone wireless internet (dongle). Apart from in Hobart, we had no reception for either device throughout the trip. This caused us a lot of stress and actually cost us financially as we were unable to purchase any excess baggage online (we had our golf clubs). My partner contacted Vodafone using his Telstra mobile whilst we were in Bicheno to ascertain if there was any coverage in Bicheno at all(so that we could go online to arrange excess baggage) and they were not able to assist us at all, in fact they were of no help what so ever and offered no apologies or compensation for they lack of coverage throughout our trip. They just kept insisting that their computers told us there was coverage. When we requested to speak to someone in Australia as we had been speaking to an Indian call centre operator who didn't even know where Tasmania was, we were told that it was not possible. Naturally was very aggravating and upsetting. We never received any follow up from Vodafone regarding the complaint lodged during this 45 minute call.

18004 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Don't deserve to be in business at 17 May 2011 11:48:11 AM
My 3 mobile broadband worked fine for 18 month. Then suddenly in Feb 2011 when I tried to connect, I received the message 'NO NETWORK'. This occurred over a few days so I called Customer (don't) Care. A number of hours and calls later, 3 advised no problem with their service in my area, but couldn't (wouldn't??) explain why after 2 years I suddenly had no network. Their solution? Move to Vodafone, which I did with great trepidation.

For 2 months I was very happy with Vodafone. Then, at the beginning of May 2011 my service became unuseable. Good signal, but unable to load internet pages. Lucky if I could get on for a couple of minutes at a time. Didn't matter what time of day or night I tried - always the same. Modem constantly switching between 3G and HSUPA etc even if selected to use 3G only. Placed calls, and no one called back when they said they would.

I kept a record of all of this and sent if off to Vodafone requesting that they cancel my contract without penalty as I was upholding my end ( paying bills on time, reporting faults via due process) while they were not (unusable service, poor customer service). Failing this I was going to lodge a formal complaint with TIO. Vodafone kindly agreed to release me from my contract (in an act of good will) even though there was "no problem at their end".

Don't these people even look at their own Community page and other Internet forums to see that others in other areas are reporting the same problems? Pre Internet we did not have access to this broad range of information. Vodafone do not deserve to be in business. They didn't listen to customers then and they are still not listening now. So many customers cannot be wrong / at fault.

If you want out of your contract due to poor service and not getting what you paid for, keep a record of your problems and help desk calls. Send the details to Vodafone (they also have a 'contact us' link) and request termination without penalty, else you'll go to TIO. Keep emotion out of your communications with them and stick to the facts. You can get out if you have truly been badly done by.

Call dropouts, 3G dropouts (turning off 3G works for call reception and calls are much more reliable), terrible throughput/speed for internet browsing regardless of location - i've never even come close to using a quarter of my monthly allowance as pages time out all the time!

I'd only had my phone for 3 months when i could no longer recieve calls or texts, this went on for three weeks. I had no idea why? I had perfect coverage having all bars up. This affected my social and work life not being able to recieve calls or texts. I recently decided to cut all ties and changed providers!! Very dissapointed Vodafail.

Unfortunately, I am locked into Vodafail because I am using a company provided SIM. If it were my own, I would have walked away months ago.

I work in the Sydney CBD and happen to be in a "Black Spot" for 3G coverage. When at client sites all over Sydney I have to embarrasingly ask them to use their phones because of lack of no coverage. Often when talking to colleagues who are in transit in either the Melbourne or Sydney CBD, we get multiple drop-outs during calls and conferences.

There is a long standing joke in our company that anytime anything doesn't work, it gets blamed on Vodafail. e.g. if the toaster doesn't work, it must be Vodafail's fault. If the lights don't work, it was Vodafail. This is the stigma that gets attached to failure

Enough is enough. My single biggest wish is that my company would change Telco's

17982 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is Promotion Call - Melbourne Suburbs.... at 16 May 2011 04:03:16 PM
Haven't seen anything simular on the net yet.. YOU MIGHT FIND IT INTERESTING>>>OR EVEN COME ACROSS THE SAME GUY.....

I am having the same issue with Vodafail as anyone else. No coverage, constant calls to Customer Service etc.

Listen to this...

I was on $130 Business Unlimited Cap.
Due to low coverage at my add. they reduced it to $99

It even got worse, so they reduced it to $79 unlimited 2 GB Plan.

2 Weeks ago received an SMS from Vodafail, saying due to " July 2011 network upgrade" they applied 50% waiver on my plan for 3 month.

So I will be paying something like $40 for unlimted plan. (2GB is sufficient)

IT GETS EVEN BETTER.....

Last friday 13th May 2011 received a call from a BLOCKED number...
It was VODAFONE... The lovely gentleman introduced himself as VODAFONE STAFF and told me he has got a great offer for me....

I was curious and I went with the conversation - as I know already the deal I am on is due to the lack of coverage, frustration, endless calls to and from customer relation team - so I was wondering how come they can't see that on my account....

Anyway...He asked me for the PIN etc. etc.

He told me ... He can see that I am a HIGH SPENDER and he would like to reduce my plan.
So I asked him oh ok, how much am I spening at the moment.. He told me around $130 per month ... ( not sure where he got that figure from)

He then said yes for this particular mobile number THAT is the average you are spending..

NOW when he said what the mobile number was - I started to be very suspicious.. HE was looking at my Vodafone PREPAID NUMBER that does NOT EXCIST since 6 years... :-)

I asked him to check the coverage at my address, (Vodafone already knows about my area that there is no or poor coverage)

It took this gentleman over the phone not even 2 seconds to check the network coverage...and said, yeas you have exceptional coverage...

THIS IS ANOTHER HIT>>> He then asked me what time is the best to come and visit me at my HOME to talk about signing up for a plan... He would send someone to come and visit me...WHAAAAT???!!!

I asked him wow is that something new....? There was no answer to that, he persisted for me to give him exact time and day that I am available....

Asked him where he is located, as I would like to visit him and he said MELBOURNE CITY Call Center... I said, I am not sure that there is a vodafone call center...And his answer was ..........( a suburb approx. 8km away from the CITY) so not IN MELBOURNE CITY>.....

The ALARMS in my head went off, and I asked to speak to a Supervisor.
Spoke to him immediately, and confirmed that they are not a VODAFONE Call Centre, they r just a shop... VODAFONE DEALER ( selling phones and other stuff) .... He kind of was putting it back on my and said...well you have given us the PIN number so we can look into your account....
Well, I did yes, only under the understanding that he was calling from VODAFONE Call Centre.... and not from a dealer shop somewhere in the suburbs.....

He of course appologized, and said sorry about that etc. etc. etc.

Thought I might give you a heads up on my experience... A new thing vodafone is doing? I am also taking this further with vodafone, as I am concerned about my privacy - as those people introduce themselves as vodafone call centre staff where they r not.

18 May 2011 06:41:31 PM: Reported this issue to Vodafone...Today I was meant to receive the call back regarding whats been happening. They haven't put any notes etc. on the account.

They telling me now we will call you now within 24 hours. A JOKE!!!
31 May 2011 08:13:05 PM: I had something very similar happen to me at around the same date. I'm based on the gold coast and a caller gave me the same intro but highlighted the fact that he was "not trying to sell me anything". As soon as he said that, alarm bells went off and I became cold towards him. When he felt that I was onto him he toned down and asked if I was happy with my infinite 45 plan, I said yes, he asked if I was looking at getting any additional phones, I said no. Then he ended the conversation. It sounds like dealers are fishing around using the vodafone database of customers. MAJOR PRIVACY ISSUES - ALL CUSTOMER MUST BEWARE!

For yet another time and time again Vodafone has failed to deliver sms sent from my g/f from her Vodafone mobile. Multiple times! When she finally calls me and is very annoyed that I haven't replied and blames me all the time about messages that were never delivered to me. Vodafone, this is blatantly unnaceptable! The worst part is that you charge for these sms that never make it to me. I feel like throwing my useless phone against a wall. If this was any other business you would be sued and out of business in a heart beat. FALSE advertising and an absolute JOKE of a network, if you can even call it that.
And a word for your "customer service" people. Speaking to a computer... DOES NOT WORK and when you finally get to talk to a human that can't help, then what is the point? A total waste of time.

17965 Someone from VIC thinks vodafone is VERY at 15 May 2011 02:55:23 AM
I've been a loyal Vodafone customer for 12 years. During all the network difficulties, I stuck through Vodafone & not once complained.. I constantly told people how good Vodafone were.
I went into a Vodafone Store to purchase a new phone charger for my Nokia N97. The salesman told me that they didn't have the N97 in stock, however, a Motorolla charger was exactly the same.. I purchased the charger.. I mean, a sales person is supposed to know the product they're selling right?
The charger worked on my phone for a day & then completely pushed in my socket.
I went back to the store & they told me to contact customer care because there was nothing they could do. I listened & did so. After spending over an hour on hold, my call was finally handled. After half an hour of been transferred back & forth, I was told that I needed to take my receipt into the store & get my money back..
Now, 1- I didn't care about the $20. What I cared about was the fact that I would now be without a phone, which meant I couldn't be reached, which could have resulted in missing job opportunities.. I was unemployed & only receiving Centrelink payments, so I couldn't afford to purchase a phone.
2- When somebody is working in Sales, they are supposed to have an understanding of the product they're selling. Why should I have gone without when it was Vodafone's mistake?

After a week of trying to fix the mess, I was told I could have a Nokia E63 for free. I was happy with this BUT then.. The day I received my new phone, I instantly had nothing but trouble with it. It would constantly freeze, or turn off, or at times, delete everything, like it did a reformat of some sort.
I contacted Vodafone only to be told that I wasn't covered under warranty as it was a free phone & that it would cost me to send it away.

Again, why should I fork out for Vodafone's mistakes??

I have been a loyal customer for over 12 years now. I purchase credit on a fortnightly basis.. Unfortunately, I don't qualify for a contract due to a bad credit history, so I can't even go about getting a new phone that way.

Does anybody have ANY suggestions as to what I can do to actually get a phone that works?
I tried my luck with Vodafone & asked for an iphone, the refused.. I asked to go on a payment plan for an iphone, again, they refused..
So if anybody has any ideas, it would be much appreciated.

Oh & I left out the best part.. Originally, Vodafone offered to fix my N97.. Something I was satisfied with. When I explained I purchased it from a friend of a friend, they asked what Network the phone was originally locked to. When I answered with Optus, they wanted nothing more to do with it & said that it couldn't be done..
I thought Vodafone would appreciate the fact that I'd actually unlocked a phone so I could continue using my Vodafone simcare.. $80 down the drain..

Vodafone claim to be huge on Customer Loyalty, to care so highly.. Well Vodafone, where's the customer loyalty for someone who has been loyal to you for over 12 years & to somebody who is now left without due to YOUR mistakes..

i pay $10 extra a month on my contract to get the Vodafone insurance which they call cover me. only problem is as i have discovered when it comes to making a claim it doesn't acutely cover me or anyone else.
the cover me booklet says that it covers accidental damage but when i dropped my iphone and the back cracked quite badly and it was affecting the reception i tried to get it fixed by the insurance that i pay for each month only to be told that it didn't come under the cover because me accidentally dropping my phone is damage due to negligence not accidental damage at all. so Im like ok wtf do i pay extra for insurance for?
17 May 2011 04:07:54 PM: it clearly states in the insurance information that it will not be covered if the result is from negligence. This insurance matter is nothing to do with Vodafone and is to do with the policies of the insurance company which is Marsh insurance. No insurance company will cover a phone if it is through negligence. i suggest next time dont get an iphone or get a otterbox case.

Now I have hardware and software issue on their mobile internet device. And I can't get any help because help line was closed.

after 2 months I have been told the network is being improved. I still get charged the same per month rate but i can't check my email, surf the web, use google maps . why am I paying this money again ?
14 May 2011 07:32:16 PM: You have two choices - ring up and complain and they will offer you 3 months free - complain more and the offer improves.

If this is not your preferred solution and you want your contract cancelled - complain more and cite poor network coverage, call drop outs, delayed SMS's poor data speed and state that they are not providing a useable service. Then they should let you go without penalty - then go to a decent telco (I hate to say this but Telstra).
17 May 2011 09:47:05 AM: I got 3 months free also, but it's been just as awful... i went from sat morning to mon arvo without being able to use my phone AT ALL. terrible... epic fail

17952 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Dreadful customer 'service' team!!!! at 14 May 2011 10:42:10 AM
I am too furious to waste too much time making my blood boil reiterating all the problems I have had of late with Vodafone, however, a few are as follows:
- Not receiving texts from any network including vodafone for almost 2 months, despite constant calls being made the vodafone. The promised follow up NEVER happened and the I.T. department, if told about the problem as promised, too 2 MONTHS to fix the problem. The ONLY COMPENSATION I RECEIVED WAS ABOUT $50 CREDIT TO MY MOBILE. This is prepay so seriously what is $50 worth to them!?@?
- This was fixed and then a wk later occured again for another month!!!!
- The customer 'service' team in India are HOPELESS!@!!! They NEVER admit that Vodafone may be experiencing difficulties.... they just constantly suggest the customer MUST be doing something wrong!!!!!!! Grrrr. How insane.
- The most recent complaint is that I am trying to redeem a bonus bank vodafone phone and there are software issues once again. I took over an hour on the phone dealing with a stupid woman who kept once again putting it on me stating I must be entering the wrong password and therefore it's not letting me redeem it. Even after she reset it and tried and failed, she STILL blamed me... THE CUSTOMER!! Then she said there is a 10 min policy and she shouldn't be on the phone to me more than that!?@!?? She said she'll have to give me a call back later!@?? I don't think so!! What was that time going to achieve?? Was she going to resolve the problem and then phone me back?? No!! She said there was nothing she could do and therefore her manager agreed to just call back in 7 days and see if anything has changed. ARE YOU SERIOUS!!#!? I go overseas in 7 days and this was outlined to her.

UNBEARABLE BLOOD BOILING ''''''SERVICE'''''''!!!!

WHY OH WHY DO WE BOTHER BEING LOYAL?? ARE THEY DOING ANYTHING FOR US TO KEEP US WITH THEM!?@?$?

VERRRRRRRRY FRUSTRATING!!!!
14 May 2011 11:38:59 AM: which is a good thing as we now don't receive any bloody texts from you in the middle of the night

17951 Someone from QLD thinks vodafone is Billing, Coverage deceit at 14 May 2011 08:59:54 AM
Well, Vodafone has fecking done it again. First up I got a Vodafone account and mostly it was fine except for patchy coverage away from major centres. Then in 2007 my wife got critically ill and for convenience, I got a broadband link from them after I was promised that where we lived was covered. We weren't! Oh, it's coming soon. It didn't. I hung in because there is phone mast was near us and we got good excellent signal, just no data. Two years later at end of contract I cancelled the broadband dongle. I upgraded to a Voda Legend and guess what even the local mast phone signal went down. Still no data as promised again. Called thier accounts to cancel the data and they wanted to charge me cancellation even though they didn't supply the service as promised. After a heated argument the accounts manager relented and said that they would cancel the data link and give us a rebate of $50. Guess what? No canceled data. No $50 rebate (which would have covered last months bill) and now I get an overdue charge of $15.

The only relief I'm going to get is to cancel, pay Vodafone out and hope the pain eventually goes away.

Vodafone! Forget it.
14 May 2011 09:06:43 AM: You need to go to the TIO with this complaint.

You are correct they are not providing the service as agreed, the TIO will escalate your complaint to Vodafail with a mutually agreed resolution within 10 business days.

The details of the TIO are found in the How To Complain tab at the top of the page.

Good luck!

Three things are certain in life. Death, Taxes and no vodafone coverage.

What did the Vodafone executives say when Nigel Dews said he was quitting?
"you can't quit, we've got you on a 24-month contract"

One Vodafone customer calls the other. What did they say?
What does it matter they couldn't hear eachother.
16 May 2011 11:07:15 AM: same happen to me when I told them to quit my contract , as there is no reception at my work place , and there are constant call drops on the network when I am at work - the only difference is mt mobile network belongs to 3 - which is same like vodafone and 3 are now merged. I complained so many times but they are not doing anything, and I am stuck because of the 24 month contract and can not do anything.

ive got to say tho' there were some buttons sticking on my phone so i took it to the service centre and it was replaced with in 10 mins!! I was impressed. I dont know if other companies do that also, but was told that 3 they have to send away and it takes 2 weeks. 2 weeks without a blackberry when running a business is hell!!!

call drop outs, delayed sms, cannot send mms. Cannot load safari searches or use the internet to you tube or play words with friends! Can't sign into my netbank to transfer money when I need it...the list goes on! Called twice about the problem and was advised that network problems will not be fixed until July - therefore implying that I had to put up with it for another 2 months or so. Told me to give them addresses and postcodes of every area that I visit so they can tell me if I can use my phone there or not - Why would I NEED a 'MOBILE' phone that can only be used in selected areas~! Plus I DO NOT KNOW where I'll be going for every day of my future life!

Every single time I'm transferred from one part of India to another they ask me the same questions I told the first - Your name, phone number and PIN. Why on earth do they bother asking you to enter it into the phone in the first place?! Cause the first person to pick up the phone STILL ASKS!

No customer service what so ever. Biggest waste of time!

17931 Someone from NSW thinks vodafone is Epic at 12 May 2011 06:23:48 PM
Never receive voicemail SMS's to let me know I have messages, Never receive account balance SMS after recharging my pre-paid, Pre-paid value has dropped significantly (No more free SMS or V2V minutes or bonus's when recharging).
I have no reception 80% of the time, it drops in and out, but I mostly only get the 1 bar of it, I realise I might not live in Sydney but every other network has full coverage around this area (Maitland,NSW), Also, any free data allowance is useless as I never have enough reception to use the net on my smartphone.
Also I was told that my phone does not support MMS or Internet by staff at the local Vodafail store, despite the fact it is a brand new, vodafone supported, HTC smart phone (Legend), I have since fixed this issue myself (So thanks for that Vodafail staff of Green Hills shopping centre near Maitland NSW)

I was with 3 before and just signed new contract with Vodafone. I have only 2 addresses the most using telephone, one is home and one is company. At home, there is no 3G network and 2 bars 2G network. At company, there is completely no signal at all, 3G, 2G...I called them 3 times and they give me the same reason: "network upgrading". They offered me 3 discount months on my bill for me and my wife. After a week, I couldn't stand on that problem any more and call them again. They transfered me back to 3 and hope I can use 3 network like before. I just worry 3 network getting worst after Vodafone took over. I have some friends who working for Vodafone before and they are all using Telstra, very funny isn't it. I would never sign a contract with Vodafone again, never, never..

so after many months of back and forth with vodafone call centers and senior executives (google for their email addresses) they finally decided to release me from my contract. they promised to call me back in two days with a payout offer.

after 10 or so days they haven't called me back. then my phone starts showing 'no service'. i check the website to see if there has been yet-another-coverage-fault but it seems not. i call them up and discover that they have disconnected my number. without telling me.

it turns out that they agreed to cancel my contract for free and waive all payout fees. yay. but they never called me to tell me about this. they also decided to disconnect my number without calling me.

now i am stuck in no man's land without a vodafone service and without the ability to port my number somewhere else. four separate vodafone people have told me they will reconnect my service ASAP but so far it has been 36hrs and nothing has been done.

even when vodafone try to be nice to customers they f**k it up.

My phone is showing "no service" in Perth Metro(CBD). There is no service on 3G. It is happening again and again for last few days.

Can not access any data or make call for which I am paying every month at the moment? Sometimes when I am making calls it takes ages to connect. They can fine customers if they don't pay bill on time. Looks like there is no one to take care of Vodafone. Where is communication minister? He needs to come out of NBN to take care of Vodafone "THE COMPLETE FAIL"

I usually live in Medina WA 6167. My reception there is highly variable, and is at times completely non-existent.

I am currently on a 4-week placement up in Port Hedland WA 6721. Up here it is diabolical. I get a few bars reception in 30 second bursts. Phone calls are out of the question. I get by by writing SMSes and then waiting for at least 1 bar to come up before I press send. Sometimes it works, sometimes I have to resend. And how does Vodafail want me to complain? Give them a call on 1555 and wait on hold. Yeah right. That ain't gonna work.

As soon as I get back to Perth this 16 year relationship is coming to an end.

I have been avoiding Telstra for years as a protest to privatisation and later to the work practices of Sol Trujillo. However, Sol's gone now and my flatmates are with Telstra and have no issues at all. It's gonna be the Big T for me.

We do i start, a important sms from my wife, arrived around 3 hours after she had sent it. The reason she sent me a sms was because she could not maitain a signal long enough to ring me.
Another example was when she got home and ask me was i not talking to her because i didn't answer my phone, after a short dissusion she rang me while standing next to me, Guess what neither had signals strength.
Another thing that is pissing me off is that they keep on saying that it was a glitch or whatever, and to make up for it have a free text for a day, guess what i already have free text to the people i need it for.
All i can say is that the staff cant help, and all i hear is that the are fixing the problem, That there are to many people joining the network, Well in a couple of months they will lose my contracts, that should help them

this was not an issue before vodafone took 3.......
11 May 2011 04:24:16 PM: I was with Voda and was forced by them to move to 3, which would apparently give me better service. After 3 months they finally admitted they could not help me, let me out of the contract and I gave the phone back. I didnt pay a bill in that time because I couldnt use the service...but it didnt help because I couldnt use the phone anyway. Like giving me a new car to drive around but keeping the keys. No point! Press on with them, insist you dont pay anything and keep asking each time to get out. They eventually give in.

IT Professional running a consultancy from my home office in MArmion, 6020.
Phone switches from No Service, to no bars, to a few, to 4 bars, to no service.
Calls drop out, fail, go silent, go staticy o noccaision and generally is not reliable at all. I find being outside has a slight improvement at best.

So my phone, which I run my business from, is not reliable and is unable to be used for long calls for anything that requires me to be on hold. Which between the ATO, my ISP, my service wholesalers, my equipment wholesalers, my clients, my employees, my subcontractors is actually rather often.

I pay $99 a month for an unlimited cap, with an iPhone 3GS 32gb. Not pleased.
Thinking of switching to Telstra. As an IT professional, I loathe dealign wiht Telstra. But their network is unbeatable.

$1billion in new towers and upgrades over the next few months. Checked their site. TWO out of 184 new towers are in WA. TWO. Beaconsfield and Midland, both over 75km from me.
11 May 2011 04:27:31 PM: I didnt know the iPhone had 5 bars because I never saw them go past 3 with Voda! Reluctantly moved to Telstra and now get worried if there is less than 4. More costly, yes, but for the first time in months I actually end a call when I choose to.

I am sick of vodaphone. My calls are constantly doping out of reception and failing half way through calls. I was on hold for 1.5 hours to another company and my call just failed. Half of the time I can not send txts nor receive them, It takes forever to retrieve my voice mails and not to mention the personal info of its customers being leaked on the net in January including names, addresses and credit card details. This is an outrage. I currently have 18 months left on my contract and am desperately wanting to be released from it. I will even give my iphone 4 back. There has got to be a security breach from them. Is there anyone out there who has been released from there contract that can give me any info on how to get out of mine????

Okay, So I've been with Vodafail ever since I got my first mobile around 2000, They used to be great. but recently, say in the past 6months to a year, they have gone down hill, i've noticed i've been getting slightly overcharged on my $49 Cap ever month, it went from being $50.01 and today i got my bill for $69.84, I know for a fact that there is no way I could have gone over the bill as I was away for some of the time and when I was in SYD I couldn't get reception to makes calls or use the internet. I decided to log on and check my bill, i've been doing that now for a few hours and it comes up that there is a problem retriving it.. This is so unbelievably frustrating.. I am seriously considering moving to another provider...
